The best Stardew Valley mods 2023

Looking for the best Stardew Valley mods? The mod scene has been thriving on PC despite having no official Steam Workshop support. Dedicated modders have been working to alter almost everything available in the game, from adding game-breaking cheats like god mode to texture overhauls that turn Stardew Valley into a pixelated fairytale.

Despite thousands of daily concurrent players still enjoying the base indie game, Stardew Valley is getting on a bit, so we can't blame you for wanting to shake things up. Thankfully, and predictably, the modding community is here to help bring other IPs to the valley, along with new maps and even improvements to married life. We've compiled our favourite Stardew Valley mods that celebrate the creativity of the modding scene. Here are our top picks that provide visual overhauls, gameplay changes, and, yes, even some cheats, making one of the best PC games even better.

Titanfall 3 may be dead, but Respawn is tapping its talent for new IP

I know what you're thinking: Titanfall 3 is never going to happen and that makes you, and I, both very sad. A sequel to what I believe to be the best single-player FPS game campaign ever conceived doesn't appear to be on the horizon at Respawn, but how does getting the band back together for one more album sound? It's not a Titanfall 2 sequel, but that's still pretty good, right?

The best Valorant crosshairs and codes

Looking for Valorant crosshair codes to help your performance? Crosshair codes in the Riot Games FPS are more complex and customisable than ever, thanks to a recent update. With a complex-looking string of numbers, letters, and symbols, you can change your in-game sights to match players from your favourite esports teams such as DRX, Fnatic, or The Guard, or make your own entirely.

Many of the best PC games with pro teams like to come up with ways for FPS game players to show allegiance to their favourite players. For example, Rainbow Six Siege has charms and Valorant has gun buddies. Custom crosshairs take things to another level though, and can even help you achieve a similar level of accuracy as your favourite pros, too. Different colours or sizes can make your crosshair stand out more, potentially affecting your accuracy. We've collected codes for all of the big teams in one place, so you don't have to go hunting around too much in order to equip your favourite Valorant characters with your chosen sight.

Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Zombies remains, perhaps, the dumbest, funnest, and most colourful the Activision and Treyarch FPS game series has ever been. Are you looking for Destiny 2 Lost Sector locations for today's daily Legend and Master Lost Sector? It's important to remember that exotic drops are not guaranteed after completing these quests, so you may have to run through the same Lost Sector multiple times. So far, I wouldn't say Redfall is a "mess". A mess, to me, implies an excess of things that become a horrible, overwhelming tangle. Having played the vampiric FPS for a clutch of hours now, I'd say it feels more like an "absence". Arkane's latest strikes me as an open world shooter with a few simple strands that never seem to go anywhere. Occasionally, there are flashes of a team that - as we all know - are capable of brilliance, but Redfall has me following a path of irritation, and feeling a slight sadness for what might've been.

It was a Wednesday in March, and the Dreamworks dream team of Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen had flown into Seattle to join Bill Gates for a press conference. The four men, seated on tall Hollywood director's chairs, were estimated to be worth a combined $11 billion - and that was in 1995 money.

Together, Dreamworks and Microsoft were going 50-50 on a new game studio, investing a total of $30 million. "I'm spoiled," said Spielberg, as recorded by the LA Times. "I worked with the best studios and the best actors, and it would be silly to get into the interactive business without Microsoft. They're the best company in the world. It does seem like a marriage that was destined to happen." It was a marriage that would produce a famously strange child in Jurassic Park: Trespasser.

Marvel's Midnight Suns may be a turn-based tactics game first and foremost, but it also has a substantial RPG element that drives both the story and the interpersonal dramas of its superhero teams between missions. When you and your squad head back to your Abbey HQ, there are side stories and quests to investigate around the Abbey grounds, items to find, and more. It's a sizable part of the game, but at one point it was even bigger, creative director Jake Solomon tells me at GDC.

"It's crazy, if you go online, you can see all the Midnight Suns cutscenes and they're three hours long. That's as long as a movie," he says. But during the last year of development Solomon reveals "we cut 30 conversations from the game, like 30 scenes. We cut a ton, because we realised this is just simply too much."

So, I thought I'd give the game a whirl but as a solo player. How would a game built for up to four players cope when there's just one person taking the reins? Well, sort of fine for a bit, then quite agonising, actually. That's not to say it can't be a fun time, but bots definitely aren't a substitute for real people.

Gran Turismo Movie Trailer

A trailer for the Gran Turismo movie appeared. In addition, Sony have published an interview with director Neill Blomkamp on the PlayStation Blog. It is expected to appear in theaters in August 2023.

The Gran Turismo movie is based on the real-life story of British racing driver Jann Mardenborough. It follows his career from playing Gran Turismo to becoming a driver for Nissan. It focuses heavily on the GT Academy competition, which Mardenborough won in 2011.

The interview with Director Neill Blomkamp revealed further details about the film. He acknowledged that the movie is a departure from his previous projects such as District 9. Blomkamp also discussed his personal love of cars and how he had a lot of freedom to explore the Gran Turismo IP. He also offered insight into the visual choices he made for the movie to maintain the feel of the games.

The Gran Turismo film will star David Harbour (Stranger Things) and Orlando Bloom (The Lord of the Rings). Harbour plays a racing trainer, while Bloom plays a character based on Darren Cox, the Nissan UK executive who helped found the GT Academy competition. Mardenborough is played by Archie Madekwe. Hermen Hulst, head of Sony Worldwide Studios, and Kazunori Yamauchi, producer of the Gran Turismo games, act as executive producers.

The Gran Turismo movie releases in cinemas in August 2023. Gran Turismo 7 is available now for PS5 and PS4.

New Genshin Impact Baizhu Gameplay Shows How He Attacks and Protects

HoYoVerse shared a new Genshin Impact Baizhu gameplay trailer, with Yuri "Dainsleif" Lowenthal explaining how the character works. The doctor is essentially a Dendro healer who wields a catalyst. However, it also shows how the five-star's attacks and other supportive abilities can assist us while he's in the party.

The Genshin Impact Bailu gameplay trailer begins by explaining his Exploration Talent. When you gather some plants and items in the wild, your health will be restored due to Herbal Nourishment.

After that, it gets into his main kit. His Normal Attack deals Dendo damage, with the charged version going from single-target to AOE. It's with his Elemental Skill Universal Diagnosis that the healing element comes in. If no hostile forces are around, it will heal. However if enemies are nearby, it will attack and heal. His Holistic Revivification Elemental Burst generates a Seamless Seal that also heals while active. He also has a Five Fortunes Forever passive that will either make him heal more if the active character's health is below half or make him hit harder if they are closer to full health.

Here's the full Genshin Impact Baizhu gameplay trailer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Av4gbEYYZmM&ab_channel=GenshinImpact
The last trailer mainly focused on highlighting Baizhu's personality.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the Baizhu banner is available until May 23, 2023. You can also get Kaveh on his banner.

Final Fantasy XVI eikons

Square Enix updated the official site for Final Fantasy XVI to include the Eikons' art and details. They are under the Characters tab. It also added more information about the battle system under the Battle page, and you can also view all the new videos or pictures under the Movies & Images tab.

The Eikons do not have their own section on the Characters page. Instead, they are a tab that you can toggle through on their respective Dominant's profile. Though it shows a picture of each of the Eikons as they appear in Final Fantasy XVI, it does not give much of a description on who they are. For example, Jill's profile states that she is the Dominant of Shiva and you can pull up a picture of Shiva, but that's it.

In previous Final Fantasy titles, Eikons and their equivalents are more plot devices and tools in battle than actual characters. This might explain why Square Enix did not provide them with much flavor text. For those who wish to see the full-body art of the Eikons, you can do so on the Movies & Images page. You will have to click on the plus sign in order to expand the page enough to see them.

Final Fantasy XVI is in development for the PS5 and it will come out on June 22, 2023. There will be a six-month exclusivity period.

Which Free Honkai: Star Rail Stellar Warp 5-Star Character Should You Pick?

HoYoVerse offers a promotion in Honkai: Star Rail with its always-available Stellar Warp gacha banner that involves letting players pick one free 5-star character. The catch is that only seven options are available after pulling 300 times. You can only pick from Bailu, Bronya, Clara, Gepard, Himeko, Welt, and Yanqing. All of them are allies who are available at all times, which means you might even have some of them. Now, in general any 5-star character could have potential. Especially if your team is lacking a person in a role like a debuffer or AOE damage dealer. However, a few of these possible allies are especially useful regardless of who you already own.

[caption id="attachment_961486" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Some Free Honkai: Star Rail Stellar Warp 5-Star Characters Are Very Helpful Screenshot via Siliconera[/caption]

So which 5-star Honkai: Star Rail character should I pick once I hit 300 pulls on the regular Stellar Warp banner?

I'm going to make this really easy for you with my top recommendation. If you don't already own Bailu, pick her. Even if you already earned the free Natasha as part of the Trailblaze Missions' story. Bailu is fantastic due to her AOE healing and Invigorated status buff. When Invigorated is active, one ally with it applied who falls in battle will be immediately revived with some help. Yes, it can only happen once per fight, but it's great. Also, any ally with that status will be healed automatically once after being damaged.

For a second pick, it might be a good idea to get Gepard. March 7th is a fantastic Preservation character and is great at shielding characters, then following up with attacks when that protected person is hit. But Gepard is an upgrade due to exactly how he protects the party. He'll still cover ice attacks, like she does. But his Comradery Technique gives everyone a shield when a battle starts and his Ultimate gives a shield to all allies at once. He also has an Integrity trace that draws aggro, which makes him your tank. Plus if he does fall in battle, his Unyielding Will Talent revives him once and restores his health.

Finally, my third recommendation would be Bronya. This is because she's one of the best supporters in the game, as well as being good at dealing damage. Her Skill removes debuffs, while also immediately letting someone act and deal more damage than usual. Her ultimate increases everyone's attack and critical hit damage. Her Technique also increases everyone's attack. Plus, by virtue of being around, her Battlefield and Military Might Traces increase everyone's defense and damage output.

But really, any of the seven could be a good pick. Especially if you've seen them in the story, like them, and are willing to find the Light Cones and Relics to make them useful.

Honkai: Star Rail is available for PCs and mobile devices, and PS4 and PS5 versions are in development.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Physical and Digital Sales Pass 2 Million

Square Enix announced a new sales hallmark for the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games that covers both its digital and physical copies. All six games have now sold over two million copies worldwide. This comes after the PS4 and Switch versions debut on April 19, 2023.

Square Enix didn't tell us regular sales figures initially for the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games. This is likely due to the fact that there was a staggered release for the titles when they appeared on PCs and mobile devices. The first one appeared in July 2021, for example, and Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster launched on February 23, 2022.

As for the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster physical copies, Square Enix didn't announce how many copies were produced total. It only sold physical copies through its official site outside Japan, and those sold out. It is still possible to import physical copies of them from Asia. For example, Play-Asia sells the Switch Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster version for $79.99. That includes English as a language option.

The six Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games are available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC, and mobile devices. We don't know if Square Enix could open Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster PS4 and Switch physical copy sales again.

Review: Dokapon Kingdom: Connect Still Feels Like the Mean Mario Party-Like

Dokapon Kingdom, as a series, always seemed to be judged as the meaner cousin to Mario Party. After all, it's a competitive board game pitting you against your friends with the ability to ruin them while bettering yourself. It just is more blatant about doing your best to devastate your opponents and, since it has the RPG elements, drags out the "pain" while it happens. The good news is for people like the series, Dokapon Kingdom: Connect continues the tradition and makes it easy to engage in colorful masochistic fun with other players. The bad news is that it is still a slog to get through a single game, feels incredibly mean-spirited, and gets downright difficult to play due to RNG and the way healing is handled.

Every time you start a Dokapon Kingdom: Connect game, the world is in danger. Monsters conquered every town. Everyone's broke. So much so that the king is offering to make the person who saves the day and makes the most money the new ruler and spouse of the princess. This means going around seven continents saving the way. Or, if you chose other modes, being the first person to kill the most other players, buy an item and bring it to the king, or restore peace to a designated town.

[caption id="attachment_961444" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Review: Dokapon Kingdom: Connect Still Feels Like the Mean Mario Party-Like Screenshot via Siliconera[/caption]

Dokapon Kingdom: Connect tends to follow some of the same patterns, regardless of which mode you choose. Matches start by going through an "opening" area where you get your initial equipment and fight a few foes to get a few levels. (You'll probably get to level two or even three this way and get a shield and weapon.) You can only get to the "main" kingdom with an exact dice roll, and depending on your placement can get a certain number of additional points to allocate to stats depending on if you're first, second, third, or fourth.

Once you get to the world map, your motivations are to get as much money as possible. (As Recette from Recettear would say, "Capitalism, ho!") This is accomplished via your salary, which varies based on how many jobs you acquire, beating enemies, defeating other players if you happen to wind up on the same space and can "duel," and freeing villages invaded by monsters. You can then collect money for each one, as well as invest in them to make them better. The "big bad" of each region will occasionally place barriers or inflict status ailments on players. Players can also harass each other by doing things like poisoning one another or making it so they can only move one space per turn. It's frustrating!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYWDPgo2Me4&ab_channel=IdeaFactoryInternational

As this is also heavily based on classic RPGs, lots of those elements are present. All fights against monsters and other players are turn-based, with people able to attack, defend, counter, give up, and so on. If you fall in battle to another player or a monster, they'll steal your items and you'll skip turns until you revive. Each round of a fight takes one turn, so if your opponent is strong, you could spend multiple turns of the game (and thus days of the week) involved in that one bout. Status effects like poison carry over outside of battles and can gradually kill you unless you get the recovery item from an item space or item shop. You'll also need to spend money on magic or weapons at respective shops to become more powerful. Gaining levels from fights make you stronger, and it's possible to change classes or gain access to advanced jobs by visiting the castle after hitting level milestones or finding items at certain places.

Since this is a board game with minigame elements as well, you might happen upon events. For example, you could end up playing rock-paper-scissors during one, though you only get money if that NPC beat another player previously. You can also use rock-paper-scissors to attempt to steal from someone else's town. However, failing declares you "wanted" and unable to access any town for a period of time, with a 50,000 bounty going to whichever player kills you to "punish."

[caption id="attachment_961442" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Review: Dokapon Kingdom: Connect Still Feels Like the Mean Mario Party-Like Image via Idea Factory International[/caption]

The thing is, because so much is happening in Dokapon Kingdom: Connect and it can take so long for certain objectives, the pacing is atrocious. The only options that might be "quick" are Shopping Race or Normal if you limit the number of weeks and increase the starting level, but even then you need to build up enough money and manage to reach the proper store to get the item. In the Story, it has more of an RPG feel and of course is a lengthy sort of adventure. But many of the Battle Royale modes and a typical Normal Mode match can take hours to finish. Especially if you have a run of bad luck.

Also, heaven help you if you have to get CPU players involved. Ahead of launch, I needed to take part in solo and multiplayer sessions with some for testing purposes. It feels like the AI is always skewed to favor these competitors. Both managed to get better spins to gain access to the main map sooner, better odds of landing on better items, and generally started off being as antagonistic as possible. Like it feels bad to lose against actual people in Dokapon Kingdom: Connect, but it's even more soul-crushing when it involves virtual opponents constantly pushing you back down into the pit you're attempting to crawl out of.

[caption id="attachment_961445" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Review: Dokapon Kingdom: Connect Still Feels Like the Mean Mario Party-Like Screenshot via Siliconera[/caption]

At least mechanically, Dokapon Kingdom: Connect works. Aside from a bug that would occasionally block the details of a player at the end-of-week check-in, it functions well. It looks like an upscaled version of the PS2 and Wii game. The online quality of life adjustments are especially convenient. It autosaves, which works out well as a proper match is going to be at least a two-hour affair or longer. You can have the CPU control someone who left and all carry on if someone disconnects (intentionally or unintentionally). It really ensures that if you are playing with others, you can keep going until somebody wins.

Still, it's not the easiest game to recommend even if this is the best and easiest to play version. If you want to ruin friendships, Mario Party is the better option. Yes, there will be hurt feelings, but at least everyone will have a good time while it happens. With Dokapon Kingdom: Connect, the pacing and other elements mean it'll feel like all four people are trudging through a mile-long pit of quicksand in many modes. There's an audience for this niche game, for sure, but know going in that it is a lot.

Dokapon Kingdom: Connect will come to the Nintendo Switch on May 9, 2023.

Capcom business model future games

Ahead of Capcom's 40th anniversary on June 11, 2023, Famitsu conducted an interview with Capcom President Haruhiro Tsujimoto. During it he talked about the company's current business model, developing classic and new IPs as Games as a Service (GaaS,) Capcom's push for classic games and remasters, and the future of the company. Previous tips also noted he discussed the future of crossplay games. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

For the past few years, Capcom focused on Games as a Service (GaaS) titles that the company can continue to support long after release, either through continuous free updates or DLC and content expansions. Some of these recent GaaS titles we've seen include Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise. Throughout fiscal year 2022, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition were two titles to receive constant support and spearhead Capcom's current business model.

Tsujimoto also shared that two years ago, Capcom made a major shift on focusing on distributing new and classic games digitally. Because of this, approximately 80% of Capcom's annual sales were digital versions of their titles. Tsujimoto pointed to this shift as responsible for being able to develop remasters and re-releases like Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection and the upcoming Ghost Trick.

When talking about fiscal year 2023, Tsujimoto said that the first future game Capcom wants to focus on is Street Fighter 6. When they started development for Street Fighter IV, eSports were not as established as they are today. Capcom had eSports in mind while developing Street Fighter V, and the same goes for Street Fighter 6. However, Tsujimoto said that Street Fighter 6 was designed to allow all type of players to enjoy the game through its single player modes as well.

Exoprimal is another important game for Capcom in 2023, and another title that the company will continue to update for long after its release. Tsujimoto expects Exoprimal to be a touchstone title that will have a deep impact on the future direction of Capcom in developing GaaS.
