Borderlands games are always best enjoyed with friends, so it's a bummer that players of the latest entry, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, have had to fly solo—at least, if they're trying to play online, or make use of the ballyhooed crossplay feature. For the past two weeks, the latest in Gearbox's series of loot-shooters…

Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga size: trim your install by 8GB

Knocking a few blocks off of Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga size is fairly easy, and you could trim your install by 8GB. While the sci-fi parody adventure shouldn't brick up your gaming SSD or hard drive, shrinking its file size could help if you've got a particularly chonky Steam library.

The Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga size sits at around 40GB on Steam, but if you're happy to delete some of the game's extra language dubs, you can reduce it down to 32GB. Sure, 8GB isn't much by today's standards, but every byte of space counts if you're trying to squeeze the space opera crossover onto the same drive as Call of Duty: Warzone.

Before diving into The Skywalker Saga install folder, it's important to consider the risks of tinkering with files. While removing extra audio files shouldn't break the game, you'll still want to be extra careful, as you could end up deleting something important. If this happens, you might need to download Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga from Steam again or use Valve's storefront to verify the integrity your files.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU beats Intel i9-12900KF in Tomb Raider

While most of us will need to wait a while longer before we get our hands on the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU, it appears one lucky outlet is already putting team red's new flagship through its paces. Now, XanxoGaming (via Videocardz) has shared some gaming benchmark data that places the chip comfortably ahead of its main competition, the Intel Core i9-12900KF.

XanxoGaming tested the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D and the 12900KF in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, running the game at 720p to mitigate any potential GPU bottlenecks. Their tests find that the AMD chip produces average frame rates around 22% higher than its rival, lending some credit to the notion that it could very well be "the world's fastest gaming CPU."

It's currently unclear how this will scale to higher resolutions, but it does show that the 3D V-Cache technology on the Ryzen 7 5800X3D helps to make this AMD's best gaming CPU ever. That said, the Intel Core i9-12900KS looms large on the horizon, and higher core clocks could see it create a new processor performance ceiling.

     The best Rimworld mods

What are the best Rimworld mods? Rimworld is a colony management game with a very simple premise - you must ensure the survival of a ragtag bunch of colonists, each with their own randomly generated skills, backstories, and idiosyncrasies. Depending on the AI storyteller settings, your experience might fall anywhere between 'wholesome farming sim' and 'relentless cascade of disaster'.

There are plenty of Rimworld mods out there to add extras and quality of life tweaks to your playthroughs. Some of them are basic improvements that let you organise your colony better or become more efficient, some add brand new mechanics like hygiene and children, and there are a few that completely transform the game by adding magic or space exploration.

We recommend trying the mod-free experience first, and gradually adding mods once you've tucked a couple of vanilla Rimworld colonies under your belt, and moved on emotionally from the harrowing tales that have emerged from your adventures. Like that time one of your ailing colonists passed away and your doctor immediately fed their corpse to the other patient, or when everyone got food poisoning on a cross country road trip and the only upright colonist, who had sworn never to do violence, was mauled to death by a mad squirrel.

Nvidia RTX 4080 – release date, price, spec, and benchmarks

The upcoming Nvidia RTX 4080 could be the best graphics card money can buy, especially if you find the potential price of the RTX 4090 offputting. While it won't be top in terms of spec, the RTX 3080 successor should still offer enthusiast levels of performance that stretch beyond the boundaries of mid-tier options.

PC gamers may feel pessimistic about grabbing an RTX 4080 graphics card later this year, as it's widely believed that GPU and CPU shortages will persist until 2023. To get ahead of the manufacturing curve, Nvidia has reportedly spent $10 billion securing RTX 4000 series components, which might translate to increased launch availability. The green team is also gunning to smooth out manufacturing, as TSMC will replace Samsung as the company's sole chip fabricator.

Chip politics and manufacturing mumbo-jumbo aside, you're probably eager to learn more about Nvidia's next-gen graphics card. To help shallow the waters of the speculation sea, we've gathered everything we know so far about RTX 4090 price, release date, specs, and benchmarks, as it may be the GPU for you.

Minecraft Elden Ring has arrived thanks to mods

Minecraft's version of Elden Ring is here, and it's amazing. Marrying up these two titans of gaming seems like an impossible task, but thanks to the power of modding, and one very committed YouTuber, it's now a reality. What's more, it's easy enough to do it yourself.

The YouTuber in question is AsianHalfSquat, who does a lot of Minecraft mod videos highlighting the great work that the community is doing in the building game. This time around, it wasn't one mod they were highlighting, but over 40.

In the video, AsianHalfSquat goes over each of the mods they've chosen in detail, explaining why they've been picked, any minor tweaks you may need to make, or any potential issues they can cause. It's a lot to take in, but it's worth watching the video if only to understand just how titanic this undertaking is. If you fancy it yourself, you can find the Shattered Ring mod pack at the link.

     Lost Ark ability stones guide

Looking for help with Lost Ark ability stones? Ability stones are part of the engravings system in Lost Ark. For a full explanation of the mechanic, you can take a look at our Lost Ark engravings guide, but to summarise, engravings are passive effects that have three different tiers of potency. To activate each tier you must accumulate a particular number of engraving points - five for tier one, ten for tier two, and fifteen for tier three.

You encounter engravings as you level up in Lost Ark, but it's not until the endgame - after level 50 - that they really come into play. This is when you can acquire items that earn you a significant amount of engraving points, including the Lost Ark ability stones, dropped from endgame raids and dungeons. They generate with two random combat engravings and one random negative, or 'malus', engraving.

However, ability stones don't provide any engraving points until they are faceted. The faceting process is a little complicated and relies on luck, although you can maximise your chances of getting more engraving points if you're smart about it. Here's everything you need to know about faceting ability stones in Lost Ark.

     Best PC fans in 2022

Cooling your gaming PC might seem like a simple process, but nothing quite compares to the best PC fans. Sure, you could chuck any old blower inside your PC case, but your components can't run the most demanding games at a decent frame rate if they're hampered by what's known as thermal throttling - heating up enough to underperform but not too much that your PC will shut down. Sticking with a set of Noctua, be quiet, Cooler Master, or Thermaltake fans is a surefire way to ensure your gaming RAM, SSDs, and motherboard feel the cold breeze when they can't cool themselves.

While we can separate the best PC fans from the duds, you'll still need to ask yourself a bunch of questions before chucking your money at your gaming monitor. Do you want the coolest components possible or a silent PC, as this is often the trade-off you'll need to make? Are you attaching the fans to the radiator of an AIO cooler, the heatsink of an air cooler, or straight to your chassis? And what size fans do you need?

Once you're sure everything's compatible, you'll need to consider the amount of air your case takes in versus how much it exhausts. Ideally, you'll want either the same amount or more air coming into your case, but we'll run through everything you need to know after presenting you with our selection of the best PC fans.

Streamplify could help start your Twitch streamer journey

If you've ever looked into becoming a Twitch streamer, you'll know that finding the right accessories isn't always easy. Not only do the best microphones and webcams come at a premium price point, but pairing your choices with the right tripods, mic arms, and lighting requires careful research. While well-known brands like Logitech, Elgato, and Razer make exceptional products, few companies provide an all-in-one solution that includes everything you need to stream online. Enter Streamplify – an affordable new range of gaming PC gear that aims to kit out budding content creators with a complete streaming setup.

Developed by Pro Gamers Group, the same company responsible for brands like Noblechairs, Streamplify provides both tools and knowledge to aspiring creators and streamers. At a glance, the range appears to be an array of budget accessories that cost significantly less than branded alternatives. This is certainly the case, but each product goes beyond cheap and cheerful by packing respectable specs and additional extras that will save you heading to Google in a panic.

Streamplify kindly let me try out its complete bundle, which includes an RGB microphone, 1080p webcam, two ring lights, and a green screen. It's worth noting that while I've dabbled with streaming Steam games in the past, I actually felt empowered to get back into Twitch content creation. In fact, even though I'm certainly not going to be the next Pokemaine, both the range's accessories and easy setup helped me feel more confident and effectively re-opened the door to a previously shelved hobby.

Want to get into games journalism? There's a W.A.S.D panel for that

Ever wanted to get into games journalism? Then you'll want to either attend or watch W.A.S.D, London's all-new games show. At 16:00 BST on Friday, April 8th, a panel of writers from some of the UK media's leading sites will offer advice for aspiring games journalists.

PCGamesN Editor Richard Scott-Jones will be joined by colleagues Jen Rothery and Joe Robinson, as well as GAMINGbible's Imogen Donovan. Each of the panel has had very different routes into the business and a range of experiences since starting, and their sites approach games coverage in different ways, so the panel promises a rich mix of insight.

In a little preview of that advice, Scott-Jones urges applicants not to be deterred by the industry's competitiveness. "We do get a lot of applicants for every vacancy because it's an enjoyable job, but for the same reason, a lot of those applicants tend to be aspirational. You'd be surprised how much you can stand out just by getting the basics right," Scott-Jones says.

Elden Ring classes – stats, keepsakes, and best starting pick

Want to know about Elden Ring classes? At the very beginning of your adventure in this highly rated open-world game, you get the chance to choose a class for your character, known in-game as their 'origin'. This choice determines your starting level and attributes, which will form the core of your future Elden Ring build.

The question of which is the best Elden Ring class is entirely subjective. While each class has a certain playstyle associated with it, in addition to their own starting Elden Ring weapons and other gear, the RPG game's leveling system is free-form so in the long run your choice won't matter as much. That said, we can make some recommendations for classes suited to newer players.

We've put together the ultimate guide on Elden Ring classes, including starting attributes and gear, as well as what options you have in terms of a starting keepsake. Just know that no matter what option you pick, you're probably going to die a lot. Enjoy.

Even with some graphics cards dropping in price, the overall GPU availability situation remains pretty dire. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 and AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT both launched in recent weeks with the aim of reasserting some sanity, and to an extent, they have: while they're not immune to bonkers inflation, they're still relatively affordable, with unusually plentiful stock available.

Which, though, is the better buy? Both are 1080p-focused cards on sale for £300 or less, both sit at the bottom of their respective GPU hierarchies (the RTX 30 series and Radeon RX 6000 series), and both support ray tracing, so let's break out the bar chart app and do some comparisons.

When we were putting together our most anticipated games of 2022 list back in January, there was one game I knew had to be on it: Mojiken Studio's A Space For The Unbound. It's a slice of life adventure about two Indonesian high school students set in the late 90s, and the demo (which has recently been expanded to include the first chapter in addition to its short prologue) instantly captivated me when I first played it a couple of years ago. There are some light supernatural elements that will be instantly familiar to anyone who's watched the films of Japanese anime directors Makoto Shinkai and Mamoru Hosoda (including a giant, ominous Your Name-style comet, no less), but for the most part this is a much more grounded game than Mojiken have made in the past, such as the fantastical point and click puzzlers She And The Light Bearer and When The Past Was Around.

Indeed, the only game in their back catalogue that has a recognisable, real-life setting is their short, free browser game Banyu Lintar Angin. Born out of an internal game jam project in 2017, Banyu Lintar Angin once again draws inspiration from the studio's home country of Indonesia. It only takes a couple of minutes to play, but speaking with its creator Dimas Novan, it was vital in sowing the seeds for what A Space For The Unbound would eventually become.

Metroid Dread Boss Rush Modes Added in 2.1.0 Patch

Back in February 2022, Nintendo announced two Metroid Dread updates were on the way. While one appeared immediately, the other had an April 2022 launch window. Now various Metroid Dread Boss Rush modes are available for the game as part of the 2.1.0 patch.

Here's how it works. Once you download the 2.1.0 Metroid Dread update, you immediately could get access to Boss Rush and Practice Mode. If you already beat the game, you can access it. Every boss is available one-after-another in each. Practice Mode is self-explanatory. It involves seeing how the mode works. Boss Rush proper is more strict. Nintendo noted your health won't be restored as you go through fights. However, you will get chances to get more ammunition between each fight. Your goal is to try and defeat all of them. At the end, you'll be told how long it took.

There are two additional Boss Rush modes you can unlock in Metroid Dread. If you beat the game on the Dread Mode difficulty level added in February 2022, you can go through Dread Rush. This is a one-hit knockout version of the mode. The other option is Survival Rush. If someone beats the game and Boss Rush, this timed version unlocks. In addition to needing to keep Samus' health up through the 12 fights, you have to finish them all within a certain amount of time.

Metroid Dread is available for the Nintendo Switch. The official website shows footage of the Boss Rush modes.

Stranger of Paradise Auto-Dismantle and Multiplayer Progression Bug Fixed in 1.03 Patch

The 1.03 Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin patch is here and adds a much-requested feature and much-needed fix. Each one is a quality of life issue, with one allowing people to get rewards they deserve. After updating Stranger of Paradise, people can now enable auto-dismantle and take part in multiplayer missions without worrying about the bug that would mean not getting first-time rewards that could prevent proper progression.

The Stranger of Paradise multiplayer progression bug is one that could have kept people from getting certain jobs or important items. Prior to the update, this would trigger if someone went through a mission online for the first time with someone else. People won't need to restart to fix the problem. After the update, people can get the missed rewards by playing the mission again. This could presumably be done alone in Stranger of Paradise or in multiplayer mode.

As for the new feature, the Stranger of Paradise auto-dismantle option makes it easier to deal with acquired equipment. Prior to 1.03, people would need to dismantle all acquired weapons, armor, and accessories manually. Once the patch is applied, people can enable the feature in settings. You can also further limit items you do grab when playing after the update. In settings, you could choose artifact or five-star-level items. This would mean you get more control about what drops you would pick up.

Here are the full 1.03 Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin patch notes from Square Enix.

Applicable to All Platforms
Added Functionality:
 • Send Messages
While speaking with allies, citizens of Cornelia, etc., hold the button down to send a message.

 • Auto-Dismantle
Equipment that meets parameters specified from the Settings screen can be dismantled immediately upon clearing a mission, freeing up space for more equipment. Please refer to the in-game tips for more details after updating.

 • "★5" and "Artifact" have been added to the Item Pickup settings for precluding picking up equipment of the set rarity or lower.

 • "No job affinity" has been added to the options for filtering within Items and other menus.

 • Multiplayer Missions Level-Only Search
It is now possible to search for "Similar Average Equipment Level" and "Mission Level 300" without specifying a mission in multiplayer.

Adjustments:
 • Adjusted lighting in certain dungeons to improve visibility.

 • Eased the break damage adjustment dealt to and received from enemies in missions with a discrepancy between mission level and average equipment level (indicated with "!").

 • Removed the following adjustments to break damage taken when guarding:
 • Mission level
 • Enemy strength
 • Difficulty levels HARD and above
Accordingly, a regular guard will consume less of the break gauge than soul shield when taking an attack, making it easier to assess the situation when guarding while surrounding by enemies or taking repeated attacks.

 • Shortened the time to recover from being broken when taking an attack while broken.

 • Shortened the time after recovering from being broken until soul shield and other defensive measures can be taken.

 • Relaxed the timing requirements to make it easier to initiate the next action following the end of an enemy's soul burst sequence.

 • Increased the conditions for determining a hit during the spinning attack of the knuckles action ability windmill.

 • Changed some enemies that appear in the sword tutorial to goblin guards, which do not stagger when hit with regular attacks, making it easier to complete a counter and fulfill the tutorial conditions.

 • Fixed the frame rate during conversations with allies and Cornelians at 30 FPS to prevent any dips in resolution.

 • Checkmarks will no longer be removed from equipment when changing tabs in the Items menu.

 • Removed certain boss animations during soul burst in CHAOS difficulty.

 • During multiplayer, your lock on an enemy will be canceled more quickly when another player performs a soul burst on that enemy.

 • Parameters when searching for rooms in multiplayer will now be preserved.
*Search parameters are lost when loading save data.

Resolved Issues:
 • In battle with Tiamat, the fiend of wind, certain conditions will no longer cause Tiamat to lose significant HP.

 • A lock on an enemy should no longer be suddenly canceled during battle.

 • Smaller enemies will no longer move incrementally out of synch when attacked with knuckles.

 • When using the red mage job action chainspell, magic will no longer trigger when attacking after casting or after interrupting casting with an attack, making it easier to input chainspell commands.

 • Addressed an issue that prevented first-time rewards from being obtained upon completing a mission. Unobtained first-time rewards can be obtained by completing the applicable mission once more.

 • During multiplayer, a message will no longer display claiming the room is full when entering a room that is not full.

 • Other various bug fixes.

Applicable to Epic Games Store
Resolved Issues:
 • Addressed an issue wherein the game was sometimes using integrated graphics instead of discrete GPUs.

Applicable to PlayStation 4
Added Functionality:
 • Adjustable Resolution
In FPS Priority Mode, an adjustable resolution function will now increase the resolution under less intensive processing loads.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and its 1.03 patch is out now.

Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion with Realize series

A new mobile card game in Japan will let its players procure physical versions of the cards in real life. Outer Heaven has revealed Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion with Realize series, a 2.5D casual card game mobile app in which players collect points by winning High-Low card games. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin My Way

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin producer Tetsuya Nomura explained the meaning behind the game's use of the Frank Sinatra song "My Way". In addition to some background details involving the game's final scene, Nomura revealed the game's originally intended title. Furthermore, Nomura discussed plans for the game's upcoming DLC. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Editor's Note: Nomura's comments on the song "My Way" may offer spoilers for the game.

In an interview with Famitsu, Nomura revealed that he had been listening to the song before production of the game had started, and that it was an important aspect of the game. Nomura described the lyrics of "My Way" as a perfect match to Jack Garland's story and the game's final scene. While the producer had considered using a cover of "My Way", Nomura personally believed that he would not have used the song had it not been Frank Sinatra's original version.

Despite starting at the beginning of production, the approval process for using the song reportedly took "a very long time". At one point, Nomura was worried that the team would not be able to use the song and had to come up with an alternative.

Similarly, Nomura had actually come up with the game's final scene before Stranger of Paradise had even been conceptualized. Nomura went as far as to say that it "wasn't an exaggeration that Final Fantasy Origin was created specifically for that scene." The producer also revealed that the game was initially supposed to be titled "Stranger of Paradise". It was later changed to include the Final Fantasy title so that people would better recognize its connection to FFI.

On the topic of DLC, Nomura revealed that one of the DLC stories will include missions involving the Warrior of Light that appears in the ending scene. The DLC will also add new weapons to the game. Specifically, for the DIFFERENT FUTURES DLC, Nomura points out that the title includes the letters DFF and NT, a possible nod to Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. However, Nomura also states that no one will be able to predict the mission's final boss.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. If you're interested in learning more about the game, check out our review.
