Genshin Impact 3.0 could be shorter, leaks suggest

Genshin Impact banners are often held in higher esteem than even the highly coveted primogems. So, it's a big deal that this new leak suggests upcoming versions of the game will be shortened, meaning players will have less time to pull on character banners. More specifically, Twitter user SaveYourPrimos says that versions 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 will be one week shorter than usual. Their tweet also states that the news is subject to change, but they are often quite reliable when it comes to unreleased information like this.

Tower of Fantasy release time, preload details for Genshin Impact like

What is the Tower of Fantasy release time on PC? The anime game has caught eyes with its Genshin Impact like presentation, and has racked up impressive pre-registration numbers already in the run-up to its release date in August.

While the open-world game is certainly playing in a similar playground to Genshin Impact, Tower of Fantasy stands apart with its more sci-fi presentation and character creation tools, which we got a look at during Summer Game Fest. Players can alter the visuals of the characters they unlock, allowing you to tweak your anime squad to aesthetic perfection.

The Tower of Fantasy combat system offers movesets for a range of differing weapon types, including swords, spears, scythes, staves, guns, and a whole variety of more sci-fi offerings such as giant rings and shoulder-mounted twin cannons. The game also offers shared exploration with friends in co-op, and promises a compelling post-apocalyptic story.

Elden Ring patch notes detail co-op overhaul for update 1.06

Elden Ring patch notes for update 1.06 have revealed various changes to the invasion and summoning systems, effectively transforming the co-op experience in From Software's RPG, which has also been tweaked to change the effectiveness of dodging and rolling.

1.06 adds the ability to send summoning signs to summoning pools across multiple and distant environments, meaning that you can make yourself summonable, and also summon others, from within a much greater area. Essentially, you can now be summoned to any effigy you have previously visited, meaning that finding a co-op player will be much quicker and easier. Invasions, however, have also received a similar set of changes. Although the patch notes themselves are rather vague, simply stating that From Software has "added the function to invade a larger area, including distant areas," it stands to reason that the same rules that now apply to summoning pools also apply in reverse, meaning that as well as being called to any previous effigy for co-op, you can also invade via any previous effigy to challenge an online rival.

Elden Ring's single-player is also being subtly but significantly altered, courtesy of changes to the ever-important rolling mechanic. The time it takes for rolling to become possible after you have performed an attack has been reduced, meaning you can strike and then get out of the way more quickly than before. You can also roll further when you have a light equipment load, and the time between attacking and rolling has also been reduced when using the great axe. This does not apply, however, to jump attacks, dual-wield attacks, and attacks while mounted.

As well as the new, quicker rolling, you can help yourself survive the many trials of Elden Ring using our guide to all the Elden Ring bosses in order. You might also want to try something completely different from our list of the best RPG games. Otherwise, you can find the full Elden Ring 1.06 patch notes below:

How to raise Two Point Campus grades

When trying to raise the average Two Point Campus grades across your school, there are many things to consider. If you find many of your undergrads are failing their course in this management game, what is the main cause? Sometimes it's an individual issue with a particular student that you need to address, but more often than not, the issue is more widespread among the student body.

A great way of diagnosing the problems is to hover the mouse over any grade-based objective, which reveals at least seven factors that will affect your students' average Two Point Campus grades. You need to ensure that you have enough highly trained faculty, a pleasant environment, and top-notch facilities to boost their learning power. If you're looking for details on how to increase Two Point Campus happiness or attractiveness then we've got you covered, but there are plenty of other ways you can help your students reach their learning potential.

How to raise Two Point Campus happiness

Are you looking for ways to raise Two Point Campus happiness for students and staff? If you're trying to bolster Two Point Campus grades across your college, either your students are collectively unhappy about something, or some of their teachers lack training, have low pay, or have poor working conditions. Thankfully, popping teachers into Training Pods enables them to learn new skills, increases their income when promoted, and as long as you look after staff rooms and bathroom facilities, their needs will be satisfied. However, for the students, this is a bit trickier to solve.

Sometimes, working out how to increase a student or staff member's happiness is as simple as clicking on them and reading their profile. This may indicate any needs that require intervention to prevent them from dropping out or failing their class. However, as a doctor would probably say, it's always better to focus on prevention than the cure, and this thinking works to ensure your students have a pleasant time. Even though increasing Two Point Campus attractiveness is one of these factors - our linked guide has more on that front - there are more effective ways to improve student happiness.

WoW Shadowlands Season 4 nerfs Warlocks and Hunters (again)

Way back in June, Blizzard announced that the next round of World of Warcraft class tuning would include heavy nerfs for Destruction Warlocks, who have been consistently at the top of the DPS rankings for the entirety of Shadowlands. The community, gearing up for the finals of the Mythic Dungeon Invitational, was outraged at the poor timing. In order to avoid kneecapping the teams competing, Blizz pushed their changes back to the start of Season 4, and the nerfs to Warlocks were joined by nerfs to Survival Hunters. Both classes were overperforming in AoE situations. Well it seems like they still are, as even with the nerfs which dropped last week, a further round of nerfs is on its way this week.

     Best gaming VPN in 2022

The best VPN for gaming will help you to access servers that might not normally be available to you, stop your internet service provider (ISP) from artificially limiting your bandwidth, ensure your private internet data remains private, protect you from DDoS attacks from the sore losers you defeat online, and provide countless other benefits.

While virtual private networks are known to slightly lower download speeds, that's not always the case. Internet service providers often throttle your speeds when you engage in bandwidth-heavy activities such as gaming, but since the best gaming VPN hides what you're doing from prying eyes, ISPs are none the wiser when you're connected to one. They also keep your IP address private, which is an important step towards maintaining your internet anonymity.

Not all VPNs are built equally, however, and free versions just don't cut it. Fortunately, you can offset the cost of the subscription by using the VPN to hunt for better deals on games that are cheaper in other regions. You'll get more for your money if you subscribe in bulk, as a year costs less overall than the monthly subscription - and if you're still not convinced, you can try them out for yourself, as each of our suggestions has a free trial.

Peter is a guy with his head in the clouds. Literally. Well, sort of. A climate science lecturer at Cambridge University, Peter's great passion in life is cloud research. All he wants to do is study clouds: their different formations, their flight paths, their properties, everything. He can't get enough of them, and finds them fascinating enough to be the subject of his 100-page PhD thesis. It's a poetic subject and one that matches his temperament as a boyish and awkward researcher and 'path of least resistance' kinda guy. But around him the world is spiralling from the political tensions of the Cold War, and as much as Peter wishes to escape to in the clouds, current events are keeping him firmly tethered to the realities of an impending war.

It's this tension that makes South Of The Circle such an engrossing story. With player choices that subtly tug the game's narrative needle in ways you might not expect, it's clear skies and fair winds for the game's three-hour journey. But with an abrupt ending after a calculated slow-burn drama, it's a rough landing.

Street Fighter 6 Kimberly Juri

Capcom unveiled two more characters for the Street Fighter 6 playable roster. Juri Han returns for her third appearance since Street Fighter 4. Kimberly is an SF6 newcomer. She's also connected to Guy, who appeared in Final Fight and Street Fighter Alpha. Both characters were present in a leak of the game's full roster back in June 2022. Juri and Kimberly were not confirmed in SF6 prior to this reveal, though.

Check out the Juri and Kimberly Street Fighter 6 teaser below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGuVJXwENQk

The Street Fighter 6 teaser opens with Kimberly, giving the business to fellow newcomer Luke. Kimberly's fighting style is based on ninjutsu techniques, blended with her talent for street art. Her moves often use cans of spray paint and involve her tagging opponents with graffiti. Kimberly's default outfit combines a red top with gym pants, athletic tape, and a set of large, prominent hair braids. She also accessorizes with an old Walkman-style cassette player. Kimberly is voiced in English by Anairis Quiñones (Mirko in My Hero Academia, Echidna in Re:Zero, and Nessa in Pokémon: Twilight Wings). In Japanese, she's voiced by Nao Toyama (Lyria in Granblue Fantasy, Chiho in The Devil is a Part-Timer, Kalina in Girls' Frontline). Design notes from Game Director Takayuki Nakayama reveal that Kimberly is "infatuated with '80s pop culture."

Uninhibited power-seeker Juri enters SF6 on a motorcycle, sliding to a stop in an homage to the Akira bike shot. Juri's new Street Fighter 6 outfit is a complex blend of a jacket, bodysuit, and loose pants. Her jacket covers an outfit mainly made of black tape laid out to mimic the appearance of a spider. Juri's fighting style has been remixed somewhat. Many of her moves from SF4 and SF5 have different properties in SF6. Some familiar moves have been given new names like Saihasho and Go Ohsatsu, and can be performed without expending stocks of Fuha. They can be chained together and enhanced if Juri does have Fuha stocks available, though. Juri's flying dive kick, Shiku-sen also returns from Street Fighter 4. Juri is voiced in English by Jessica Straus (Lilith in Darksiders 2, Pi in .hack//G.U. Last Recode). In Japanese, she's voiced by Eri Kitamura (Homura in Senran Kagura, Juliet in Lollipop Chainsaw, Sayaka in Puella Magi Madoka Magica).

Juri and Kimberly will appear in Street Fighter 6, which launches in 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Sonic Movie 3 Release Date

Hot off the heels of Sonic 2's release, Paramount has revealed more details about the upcoming Sonic 3 sequel. The company revealed that the release date for the Sonic 3 movie will be December 20, 2024. This means that fans will have to wait over two years for the next movie to appear in theatres.

Paramount took to Twitter to announce the next movie's release date, just four months after the debut of Sonic 2 in April 2022. The latest film is also set to release this month in Japan, on August 19, 2022. Since then, the film has become the highest-grossing video game film adaptation in the US, making a total of $162.74 million. This beat out other popular video game film adaptations such as Uncharted as well as the first Sonic movie.

https://twitter.com/SonicMovie/status/1556795919688798208?s=20&t=g70HeLrQxfuTicA68FHYVg

The announcement places the release of Sonic 3 over two years into the future, during the 2024 holiday season. While this may seem odd at first glance, it is essentially the same time frame that Sonic 2's release followed. For reference, Sonic 2 was announced in July 2020 and released in April 2022.

This follows an earlier announcement from Paramount in which the company revealed it had green-lit a live-action Sonic the Hedgehog show. The show will reportedly air on Paramount+, the company's streaming service. It's unclear whether the show and third theatrical release will have any ties.

The Sonic 3 movie is in active development, with a December 20, 2022 release date. Sonic 2 is available to watch digitally via Paramount+, as well as on Blu-Ray and DVD.

Kingdom Hearts Dark Road Final Chapter

After a delay in February 2022, Square Enix has locked down the end date for the story of Kingdom Hearts Dark Road: August 26, 2022. On that date, the final chapter launches. It'll appear as a free update to the Kingdom Hearts Union χ Dark Road app.

Kingdom Hearts Dark Road focuses on the story of series villain Xehanort. Xehanort is the pivotal character of the "Dark Seeker Saga" the storyline that runs through all the main Kingdom Hearts titles up to KHIII. It begins in Xehanort's boyhood, and follows his rise as a Keyblade master. It's an addition to Kingdom Hearts Union χ, the mobile and browser game that takes place long before the main series and is in turn a sequel to Kingdom Hearts χ. In essence, the games and Dark Road set up the background of events that lead to Xehanort becoming the seeker of darkness, such as the Keyblade War and the origin of the world as it's seen in the main games.

In Dark Road, Xehanort is a Keyblade wielder in training, tasked by his master Odin to seek out fellow students that went missing. He and his classmates Eraqus, Baldr, Vor, Urd, and Bragi must scour the many worlds that exist after the Keyblade War to find the missing students. The final chapter was originally supposed to launch in Winter 2021, but needed more time in development.

Kingdom Hearts Dark Road will receive its final chapter on August 26, 2022. The main app is available on iOS, Android, and Amazon's Fire OS.

FFXIV animated starter guide

Have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV? Chances are you have, and you might be among the potential players interested in giving it a go. Luckily, Square Enix is there for you, with a new FFXIV animated starter guide series.

The FFXIV animated starter guide is planned as a seven-part video series. The official page currently lists five videos available, not including the introduction. All star two characters: A Viera veteran named Meyra, and Kaz, a new catboy fresh off the chocobo cart. Meyra shows Kaz the ropes, beginning from character creation. Kaz chooses to start life in Eorzea as a novice Gladiator. The latest video available covers joining a Grand Company, Kaz's first Trial in the Bowl of Embers, and personal mounts. Overall, the content covers what a player might see in their first 20 levels or so.

Here's the intro. The rest of the playlist can be seen at this page.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PS4, and PS5. The game's free trial period covers all the content from the base game (A Realm Reborn) and the first expansion, Heavensward. Characters in the free trial can play up to level 60. The next patch, version 6.2, will add various new features, like an Island Sanctuary. The FFXIV animated starter guide series is ongoing.

The DioField Chronicle preview

As a seasoned strategy game enjoyer, The DioField Chronicle has been on my radar for a while. Square Enix and Strategy RPGs seemed like a pretty logical combination. "I mean, why not?" I thought, "They made Final Fantasy Tactics, didn't they?"

More specifically, I was interested in the direction the game would take. Rather than your typical turn-based "Strategy RPG", The DioField Chronicle differentiates itself as a "Simulation RPG" with a "real time tactical battle" system. After playing through the demo, however, some of that anticipation has waned.

The DioField Chronicle, as the name suggests, is a game set primarily on the island of DioField. You control a squad of young soldiers who, seven years ago, protected a prince from assassination. Their motivation now lies in changing the world for the better, which is why they don't hesitate to join a noble's private mercenary when offered. This also takes place in the midst of geopolitical conflict between the Trovelt-Shoevian Empire and Rowetale Alliance. Our heroes, however, are situated in the Kingdom of Alletain located on DioField island which is apparently rich with Jade, an important magical resource.

If all of that sounds like a lot of information, that's because it is. It's not impossible to wrap your head around, but it certainly doesn't help that the demo skims through much of these details without any proper introduction. Admittedly, the story becomes much more interesting towards the end of the first chapter. But I couldn't help but feel like someone had tricked me into watching a mid-season episode of Game of Thrones without prior warning. In the end, the only things that kept me invested were the superb Japanese voice acting, character interactions, and smaller-scale plot developments. But ultimately, it left me wishing that the developers had spent a little more time introducing their characters.

Combat was an entirely different beast, and one that I felt had a lot of potential. As someone who is more used to turn-based strategy, I was surprised to find that the real-time combat mechanics weren't as stressful as I'd imagined. The Ambush mechanic, which deals enormous amounts of damage when attacking an enemy from behind, forces you to think about your unit's positioning. Coupled with that, there are four distinct unit classes, each with its own style of combat. Some characters have the ability to stun enemies, push them away, and create environmental hazards. Getting to know these skills and utilizing them efficiently felt immensely satisfying. Similar to the game's story, the end of the first chapter hints at more mechanics, subclasses, and abilities.

While there's room for some interesting combat choices, each mission essentially boiled down to a game of who could get a flank on the enemy the quickest. Sure, you have an arsenal of DoT attacks, taunts, and immobilizing abilities. Enemies also come in a variety of unit types and require you to think before engaging. But most of the time, I ended up repeating the tried-and-true pattern of charging in with a Cavalier, stunning and then assassinating foes. If I defeated enough enemies, I could even just summon a Bahamut to kill the rest. Was it badass? Yes, yes it was. Was it fun? Not exactly.

That is to say, The DioField Chronicle isn't a bad game. At the end of the demo, I was left wanting more. I wanted to learn more about the political intrigue of DioField island. I wanted to learn about our characters, spend time growing them, and gain new abilities to try out in combat. However, it's hard to tell from the demo whether the full game will live up to its $60 price point. The diorama aesthetic and smooth-faced character models may also be another demerit for some. If this game has been on your wishlist like it was for me, I recommend trying out the demo yourself before diving in.

The DioField Chronicle is launching for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on September 22, 2022. A free playable demo will be available worldwide starting August 10, 2022.

Pac-Man Live-action

Sonic and Mario may soon have some competition in the cinema space. According to a press release from Bandai Namco, it and Wayfarer Studios are working on a live-action Pac-Man movie. Wayfarer Studios is the production company run by actor Justin Baldoni, who played Rafael in Jane the Virgin. Wayfarer produced various series and documentaries, including the Disney+ film Clouds [Thanks, Hollywood Reporter!].

Other than the announcement, Bandai Namco and Wayfarer gave no visuals or detail about the Pac-Man live-action film or its release window. It will, however, be based on an original story idea by Chuck Williams. Williams produced the Sonic the Hedgehog live-action film series, as well as 2003's Brother Bear. Prior to becoming a producer he worked on Disney animated films like The Lion King and Aladdin.

Pac-Man has been a fixture of video game culture nearly since its origins of the game industry. Introduced to arcades in the 1980s, the series and its titular character have inspired a long legacy of spin-off material. The U.S.-based ABC network ran an animated series based on Pac-Man, as did the Disney XD cable channel. Also looming large are live-action references to Pac-Man in various films, such as 2015's Pixels even Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

The Pac-Man live-action movie is in development, with no specific release window or platform. Bandai Namco collected 14 Pac-Man games into the Pac-Man Museum+ package, available on Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Grim Guardians game Demon Purge Shinobu submachine gunA year before the Symphony of the Night-inspired Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night came out, a companion game by the name of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon made its way to PC. Developer ArtPlay handled the creation of Ritual of the Night, However, it was Inti Creates in charge of Curse of the Moon, which harkens back to the classic Castlevania style rather than the more exploratory approach of Symphony of the Night. The game did well enough to receive a sequel. But it seems Inti Creates has not yet exhausted ideas for another Castlevania throwback game, as the studio recently unveiled Grim Guardians: Demon Purge to the world. Rather than going for an old-school NES look like the Curse of the Moon games did, Grim Guardians adopts a more modern pixel art aesthetic that seems reminiscent of something you would find on the Game Boy Advance. Much like Curse of the Moon, though, Grim Guardians uses the more linear structure of the older Castlevania games. Players can freely...

Multiversus Datamine Art 800x400MultiVersus is setting itself apart from other platform fighters, focusing on 2v2 gameplay with many balance changes made with this game mode. MultiVersus is fully designed with friends in mind, which may have inspired the developers to introduce a unique Battle Pass sharing feature. Possibly, anyway. As reported by VGC, a dataminer looking deep into the code for secrets may have uncovered a feature that will allow two players to contribute to one Battle Pass. Dataminer AisulMV posted an image on Twitter of something called a "Battle Pass invite." If legit, the new feature will allow you to "conquer the Battle Pass faster" and "share the rewards." This program will allow both players to contribute to the same Battle Pass, with the Battle Pass of the player with the least progress matching the others. Players share progress on the Premium Battle Pass, which includes both Quest Rewards and experience points.   Sharing is caring The post suggests t...
