The best MMORPG and top MMOs you should play 2023

What is the best MMORPG on PC? If you're wondering, those oft-used letters represent the words Massively Multiplayer Online, and refer to games where thousands of players come together in the same world. Is it one with spells to sling and demons to slay? Working your way through the stars as a miner or a corporate bigwig? Solving ancient conspiracies and fighting Lovecraftian horrors? Maybe it's all of them.

Ultimately, the deciding factor for the best MMORPGs on PC largely comes down to personal preference, so with that in mind, here's our list of the top MMOs currently alive and kicking. You're sure to find something that will swallow up entire days at a time, and many of these entries can also be considered some of the best PC games around. While there are plenty of new MMOs to consider, the golden oldies on this list have withstood the test of time.

GTA Definitive Edition has less than 1,500 Steam players, still buggy

Rockstar launching GTA Definitive Edition on Steam felt like a chance to give the sandbox game collection a new lease of life, a second wind. Despite a 50% discount however, the remasters of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas are struggling to find a substantive player base on Valve's platform, as many of the bugs and visual issues that hampered the original launch of Definitive Edition remain in the re-release. If you want more Grand Theft Auto, you may just want to wait until the GTA 6 release date.

     All Minecraft biomes in 1.19

Minecraft biomes are vast, varied, and full of things you definitely need. As you randomly generate each world, there are never any guarantees about where you'll find the Minecraft biome you're looking for. Still, there might be clues you can follow if you pay close enough attention.

It's always worth going out and exploring above ground to try and find the Minecraft biomes that are near where you spawn. Each one offers different resources that you may require in your journey, whether that's to beat the Ender Dragon, or simply to create the best Minecraft house in the land. Each biome also houses different creatures, NPCs, and potential loot too. It means that, while finding all of them is rarely essential to your progress, it might make things a bit easier.

     Best MW2 TAQ-V loadout

Fancy taking a chance with the best Modern Warfare 2 TAQ-V loadout? Not to be confused with the TAQ-56 assault rifle, the TAQ-V is a battle rifle variant of the Scar and, boy, it sure packs a punch.

With one of the more significant base damage and accuracy ratings of its weapon class, the TAQ-V has the potential to become one of the best MW2 guns. It's largely ready to tear it up on the battlefield as it is, but if you visit the MW2 gunsmith and put on the following attachments, you'll wind up with the best Modern Warfare 2 TAQ-V loadout. With the rather significant buffs they can give you, these attachments can absolutely get you enough kills to trigger a Modern Warfare 2 nuke in no time.

Best Warzone 2 TAQ-V loadout for Season 1 Reloaded

After the best Warzone 2 TAQ-V loadout? The battle rifle version of the Scar-inspired TAQ-56 is arguably the best iteration in the weapon platform, taking the slow, chugging rate of fire of its smaller sibling and pairing it with devastating 7.62mm rounds. Unlike some battle rifles, the TAQ-V has a full-auto fire mode by default, making it easy to use in all situations, and a wide array of weapon setups are available once you've unlocked all the right attachments.

As we saw with the dominance of the FAL in Warzone 1, battle rifles can be the best Warzone 2 guns around, and are extremely effective thanks to their damage ranges and bullet velocity, plus their handiness in a CQC situation. We've built a couple of Warzone 2 TAQ-V variants in the free PC game to help you figure out the right loadout for you.

     How long is Forspoken?

How long is Forspoken? Starting off in a new land, making new friends, and getting to grips with your backchatting bracelet is no easy task. While it all may seem confusing at first, it won't be long before you're parkouring around the world of Athia like the best of them. The real question though, is how long will it take you to best the Tantas and restore Athia back to its former glory?

From the outside, Forspoken looks like quite the endeavor. Not only have you got an entire world to save, but you've got to get Frey back home and somehow piece together her childhood. RPG games can run on the lengthy side, and Forspoken appears to be no different. With sidequests littered around the Forspoken map and a meaty main story to tackle, you're going to be spending a lot of time in the world of Athia.

Looking for some of the best tycoon games to add to your collection? Whether you're looking for classic park management, or taking charge of a complex, nuanced business, there are plenty of great options to choose from right now, across a range of themes. This is a classic genre that's had plenty of love since its early days, with sequels and new blood galore.

While there are plenty of classic tycoon games we could talk about - many of which are some of the best PC games available - we've decided to focus on modern highlights, as this is a genre that's constantly getting new releases and new ideas. We've also kept the definition relatively broad, as there are plenty of management games that you may not consider strictly 'tycoon' games, but have strong business or economic themes with the mechanics to back them up.

Best Warzone 2 battle rifle for Season 1 Reloaded

Looking for the best Warzone 2 battle rifle? While assault rifles are the most popular weapons in Call of Duty games, battle rifles offer an alternative option that sacrifices fire rate and mobility for firepower and bullet velocity; an elegant weapon for a more civilised age.

Picking the best Warzone 2 battle rifle out of the four is no mean feat. The most competitively viable weapons in the free PC game tend to be very easy to run and gun with, and battle rifles really force you to take a more passive approach, but if you can do that then they can be surprisingly effective. If you're looking for a gun that mixes the damage potential of the best Warzone 2 AR with the stability of a great Warzone 2 marksman rifle, then this may be the gun type for you.

So you want to know about the Minecraft recovery compass? It only has one purpose: to help you retrieve your lost items. It's not quite the same as Jack Sparrow's compass, which takes you to what you desire, but the two share the same trait of being absolutely useless for general navigation. While you have it equipped, the compass points you to the spot where you last died.

The Minecraft recovery compass is one of the many, many, additions to one of the best PC games. It's not as scary as The Warden, not as creepy as the Deep Dark biome, and it doesn't have the appeal of the new Minecraft frogs, but the recovery compass is a very handy item to have on you after dying unexpectedly.

When does Hogwarts Legacy take place?

When does Hogwarts Legacy take place? The latest Harry Potter universe game is set in the distant past, long before the scarred boy set foot in Hogwarts' hallowed halls and even before the Fantastic Beasts films. To put this into context, Dumbledore is a mere child in the events of this game, so it's as if we're stepping into a brand-new world.

With its rather early timeframe, it's also improbable that the open-world game will have either Harry Potter or Hagrid as Hogwarts Legacy characters you can interact with. However, since the ghosts have been on campus since forever, it's highly probable that you'll at least bump into Nearly Headless Nick from time to time. Either way, Portkey Games has confirmed in what year Hogwarts Legacy takes place, so let's dive deeper into the story setting.

An adorable family of furry mammals traversing a dystopian urban environment; snapshots of joy and intimacy (playful hunts, mutual grooming, snuggling together for a nap) already infused with the melancholy of impending catastrophe; the terrible, life-altering moment when a young cub loses its footing and plunges into unknown depths, separated from the pack. Our fledgling protagonist, alone for the first time, has to fend for itself and find its way among the perilous mega-city ruins.

If you engaged at all with the indie-game sphere in 2022, chances are this introduction rings a bell. Only it's not a description of last year's breakaway hit and multi-award winner, BlueTwelve Studio's Stray, but an older and much more brutal feline saga, Videocult's grim survival action game Rain World. The thematic overlap of these games, coupled with their contrasting design philosophies, provides an excellent springboard to reassess the latter – one of the most opaque, challenging, and underappreciated titles in recent memory, just in time for the arrival of its first official DLC, Rain World: Downpour.

Bleach Tower Records

A new merchandise filled pop-up shop in Japan will sell items based on Bleach at Tower Records branches. The stores open on January 27, 2023, and the promo runs through February 5, 2023. The participating Tower Records branches are located in metropolitan areas across Japan, such as Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka, though some items will be sold via the Tower Records Online store. [Thanks, Comic Natalie!]

The Bleach Tower Records pop-up stores will sell items related to the recently aired Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime series. The series is a revival of the Bleach anime, and an adaptation of the manga's final story arc, which was not animated before the series was canceled in 2012.

The merchandise will be based on an exclusive illustration created for the Bleach Tower Records promo. The illustration shows six male Bleach characters and was created with the theme of "After the battle". In their respective shots, Ichigo Kurosaki, Uryuu Ishida, Kisuke Urahara, Toushiro Hitsugaya, and Shinji Hirako all extend their hands to the viewer. Byakuya Kuchiki is also in the lineup, but does not reach out. They're all dressed as they appear in the Thousand-Year Blood War arc.

[gallery columns="1" size="large" ids="947706" link="file"]

The actual items, meanwhile, range from trading card-style pins, keychains, and buttons to acrylic standees and posters. Prices range from 440 Yen (about $3.4 USD) to 3,300 Yen (about $25.50 USD) for the large-size standees.

The Bleach Tower Records pop-up store promotion will run from January 27, 2023, through February 5, 2023. The first part of the Thousand-Year Blood War anime finished airing in December 2023. The second part will air in July 2023.

Bayonetta Last Cloudia

A Bayonetta crossover will appear in Last Cloudia on January 26, 2023. However, more information as to what characters will appear, along with how players can obtain them, will appear in the future. Leading up to the crossover, the official Last Cloudia Twitter account shared an image. The crossover promotional features the logos of the Bayonetta series and Last Cloudia set against a moon.

Last Cloudia has seen a plethora of collaborations appear in the mobile game. This has ranged from Devil May Cry, NieR: Automata, and a Tales of series collaboration. Each of these events featured several crossover characters that could be obtained during their event period. For example, during the Devil May Cry crossover, Nero, Dante, and V were available to obtain. One of these characters was distributed through event participation. More information as to what character could potentially be available to get through event participation will be revealed once the event is closer at hand.

This wouldn't be the first time Bayonetta has appeared in another game as part of a crossover. Specifically, Bayonetta and Jeanne appeared in Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation. Both Bayonetta and Jeanne were available to obtain through the event, and the subsequent re-run that appeared.

Last Cloudia is available for Android and iOS devices. The Bayonetta crossover event will begin on January 26, 2023.

hoshimachi suisei the first take

Hoshimachi Suisei became the first VTuber who will appear on the YouTube channel The First Take. Her video aired on January 20, 2023 at 10pm. That would be 5am PT/8am ET/2pm of January 20, 2023. Suisei performed "Stellar Stellar". [Thanks, Famitsu!]

As mentioned earlier, Suisei is the very first VTuber to sing on this YouTube channel. The concept of The First Take is that it would invite famous singers onto the channel, and allow them one single take. They have to sing a song of their choice, and the idea is that they cannot retry even if they mess up. As of the time of writing, The First Take has 7.2 million subscribers. Singers who have appeared on its channel include Aimer, LiSA, Jason Chan, and NiziU.

As for Hoshimachi Suisei, she is one of the earlier members of Hololive. She currently has almost 1.7 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. Aside from streaming video games and covering songs, Suisei also released original singles and albums. Right now, she is promoting her second album "Specter." You can listen to "wii-wii-woo" and "Housou Shitsu" (both on her album), as well as a sample of "Specter" via her YouTube channel.

Watch Suikoden I & II HD Remaster's Family Attack and Double Monster Attack

Konami offered a chance to see even more Suikoden I & II HD Remaster Unite Attacks, and this time the Family Attack and Double Monster Attack appeared. Both are special abilities present in Suikoden II. However, the original Suikoden does have its own variant of Family Attack with Eileen, Lepant, and Sheena.

First, here's the Suikoden II Family Attack Unite Attack that won the vote. It pairs up Riou, the protagonist, with his sister Nanami for an attack. While it begins with the two attacking the same enemy, Nanami takes a break to enjoy some tea and read a book in the middle. (Warning: there is quite a bit of flashing on-screen in the video clip.)

As for the runner up, it was the Suikoden II Double Monster Attack. It features Siegfried the Unicorn and Feather the Griffon teaming up to attack one enemy.

The third option in this poll was Warrior Attack. However, it didn't specify if it would be the one from Suikoden or Suikoden II. The Unite Attack was present in both. In both games, both Hix and Tengaar must be in the party for it to be an option.

Konami frequently shares Unite Attack clips on Twitter after polls. For example, it recently showed off the Blue Gate Rune and 5 Squirrel Attack.

Suikoden I & II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars will release on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC via Steam in 2023.

Which Characters Can You Recruit in Fire Emblem Engage Stages?

As is common in Fire Emblem games, Fire Emblem Engage features a few characters you can recruit, but could also miss. Some of these show up in Paralogues, while others appear in chapter battles as guests or even opponents. There are four in particular who might be tricky to get or overlooked.

Editor's Note: There will be spoilers regarding Fire Emblem Engage characters you can recruit below.

The first character you'll get a chance to recruit is Jean. He's a medic and essentially the "villager" of Fire Emblem Engage. Once you gain access to the world map for the first time, a Paralogue will open up in the Tea-Field Village. If you take part in that fight and send Alear to speak to Jean, he'll join your army.

The second optional character to recruit is Fire Emblem Engage's version of Anna. Right before you get the chance to head into Brodia, a Paralogue will open up at the Bandit's Hideout. Anna will hide herself in a chest there, though she'll also hop out and be on the move once enemies get moving. Use Alear to talk to her, and she'll join your crew.

Which Characters Can You Recruit in Fire Emblem Engage Stages?

When it comes to the third one, you'll need to get Alear or Diamant over to her rather quickly. In Chapter 9, Jade will be in the field. Talking to her recruits her. Since she's a rather sturdy armored unit, you should be able to reach her before she's hurt or killed.

In Chapter 18, you'll get a chance to turn an enemy into an ally. Lindon is a part of the Elusian forces on the righthand ship. At the outset of the battle, he'll express concerns about the war and his actions. Send Alear over to speak to him, and he'll join your cause.

Finally, you'll meet Saphir in Chapter 19. She's come to Elusia after hearing about what's going and wants to aid the Brodian princes Use Alear to talk to Saphir, and she'll become a part of your army too. Like Jade in Chapter 9, she is fairly strong and can handle herself until you arrive.

How to Adopt Animals in Fire Emblem Engage

You can host a whole menagerie in the latest Fire Emblem. One of the areas in The Somniel in Fire Emblem Engage is a Farmyard, which can become home to a number of animals you adopt on your adventure. The in-game message board next to the Terrace Cafe lets you check and see which ones are in each area. Not to mention, every map you head into will let you know which furry or feathered friends could appear to add to your collection once the battle is over. How to Increase Supports with Fire Emblem Engage Characters

Getting closer to characters is a staple in Fire Emblem games. As people fight alongside each other, friendships can develop. As usual, Fire Emblem Engage offers the ability to see characters support one another, with ranks going to to A in the game. To help figure out how to make friends, here are a few actions you can take to encourage allies to get along.

One way is to visit the Arena. If the character you choose ends up randomly fighting someone they can form a relationship with in Fire Emblem Engage, then they'll earn support points. You can only take part in three Arena battles each time between story chapters and battles you take part in on the map.

You can also build up ranks by going to the Cafe Terrace. One ally will be in charge of cooking. You can pick two other people to join you for a meal. (The person making the food isn't an option.) When you do so, you'll be able to see their current support rank with each other, if they can do so. All three characters involved will also get a temporary stat boost depending on how well the food is cooked.

If they are next to one another when attacking a foe, they'll build up points. You'll see a visual indicator (a heart) and hear a chime after the encounter, to confirm that the relationship is growing. If a character can heal using staves or dance, it becomes much easier as they can support each other more directly and frequently. Finally, Alear has an additional option. You can buy gifts from the Flea Market after Timerra joins your crew to give people on The Somniel. Each person has certain likes and dislikes, which you can check in the reference section and pick up on as you speak with them. You can also find items like Spirit Gems, Pretty Stones, and Horse Manure at glittering gathering spots on The Somniel to give as presents. Fire Emblem Engage is available for the Nintendo Switch.

How to Change Classes Your Class in Fire Emblem Engage

As with past games in the Fire Emblem series, people can use a Second Seal or Master Seal to change a character's class in Fire Emblem Engage. However, you don't have immediate access to either item. Rather, you need to buy or earn them. They are limited stock items in the Somniel initially, though both occasionally show up in chests or after beating opponents in a map.

You'll find your first Master Seal as an incidental reward. For example, you can get one in a locked chest in early maps. However, eventually the Somniel's Item Shop will carry them. For 2,500G, you can get one. These are limited items initially, so you won't be able to get enough for everyone right away. As long as a character hit level 10 in a class, you can promote them with a Master Seal. By chapter 9, you will start seeing them in the store after major chapter battles.

As for the Second Seal you can use to change your class, it is also available in Anisse's Item Shop in Fire Emblem Engage around the same time the Master Seal appears in the store. Again, it is a limited item. One costs 2,500G. Using it allows someone to change a character's class to another one on the equivalent tier. You don't need to hit a level requirement in a class to use it.

How to Change Classes Your Class in Fire Emblem Engage

However, having a Master Seal or Second Seal isn't the only requirement for changing classes. You also need to meet certain weapon proficiency requirements. For example, if Diamant's axe proficiency is at B or higher, a Second Seal would let him change from his Lord base class to a Axe Fighter or Axe Armor. However, for him to change to his Lord advance class, he must be at least at level 10 and have S-level sword proficiency and A-level axe proficiency.

By the time you reach the end of Fire Emblem Engage, an infinite number of Second Seals and Master Seals will be available. However, until the endgame, they are doled out sparingly.

Fire Emblem Engage is available for the Nintendo Switch.
