Blasphemous 2, which was only revealed back in April, looks to be similar to the fist game, i.e. it's a side-scrolling Soulslike drenched in the most bloody and grim Christian imagery you can think of. Persona 5 Tactica

Ahead of the June 2023 game showcases, people noticed references to P5T and a possible Persona 5 T game from Atlus. Due to an initial posting of a trailer ahead of time on the official Atlus West Instagram account, a leaked trailer revealed it is Persona 5 Tactica. It also mentioned it will come to the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on November 17, 2023. It will be an Xbox Game Pass title as well. Atlus has since removed the trailer from its Instagram account. [Thanks, Wario64 and JunoHaruto!]

Twitter user JunoHaruto captured the trailer ahead of Atlus removing it. It sees the Phantom Thieves in a new shadow realm and palace. An original character appears and says she's with the Rebel Corp. She also mentions the Rebel Corp will continue to support the Phantom Thieves, as the group helped them. From there, it shows this character fighting alongside them. It then shows the group fighting to return home.

This was one of two leaks to show up on the Atlus Instagram early. A trailer for Persona 3 Reload, a remake of the original game, also appeared and was later pulled.

Persona 5 Tactica will apparently come to the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on November 17, 2023. Persona 5 Royal is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. The original Persona 5 appeared on the PS3 and PS4.

Devolver Digital Volvy

Indie publisher Devolver Digital held its annual showcase of new games as part of Summer Game Fest 2023. As usual, it was an elaborate affair that not only announced games, but also featured skits and bizarre lore.

This year, the showcase was presented as the return of Volvy, the company's beloved mascot character from the 1990s (despite Devolver Digital forming in 2009). Kicking off with a mockumentary about the "returning" character, the show continued with the reveal of Volv-E, a robot mascot. As always, this was meant as satire on current trends within the games industry. AI technology was the major target this year, with each game announcement presented as Volv-E generating games based on prompts. (It didn't end well.)

Here are all the games that appeared:

  • The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood (PC, Nintendo Switch) – 2023
  • Sludge Life 2 (PC) – June 27, 2023 (Demo out now on Steam)
  • Bleak Sword DX (PC, Nintendo Switch) – Out now
  • KarmaZoo (PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S) – TBA
  • Hellboy: Web of Wyrd (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S) – TBA
  • Shadows of the Damned Remastered – Coming Soon
  • Wizard With a Gun (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S) – TBA (Demo out now on Steam)
  • The Talos Principle 2 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S) – 2023
  • Baby Steps (PC, PS5) – 2024
  • Human: Fall Flat 2 – TBA

In addition, Devolver Digital released a new bundle of its games on Steam to celebrate. The bundle, The Return of Volvy, offers twelves games such as Death's Door, Pikuniku and Cult of the Lamb for a total discount of 63%. All these games had been featured during the Devolver Direct with added Volvy.

The Devolver Direct was part of the Summer Game Fest program. More showcases will be happening throughout June.

Persona 3 Remake Reload Announced at PlayStation Showcase

Following rumors of a Persona 3 remake, Atlus shared a trailer for the game early on its official Instagram account. Its official title is Persona 3 Reload. The video involved initial footage of gameplay, showing both the school life and Tartarus exploration elements. Only the male protagonist Makoto appeared in the footage and imagery. The announcement also confirmed an early 2024 release window and Xbox Game Pass release. The only platforms mentioned were Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. The trailer was since removed from Instagram. [Thanks, Wario64 and ScrambledFaz!]

Here's the trailer, which ScrambledFaz caught before it was removed and shared online.

As Atlus leaked this and the Persona 5 Tactica trailer early, there is no word on additional platforms. All of them bear Xbox-themed marketing and refer to Xbox Game Pass. As such, we'll probably learn more immediately after the Xbox Game Showcase on June 11, 2023.

The Persona 3 Reload remake will come to the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC in early 2024. The original game and its FES version appeared on the PS2. People can find Persona 3 Portable on the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

pikmin bath bomb

Bandai displayed a Pikmin bath bomb at the Tokyo Toy Show 2023, which will run from June 8-11, 2023. Tickets to enter and see the bath bomb, as well as other toys, for yourself will cost 1,500 JPY (around $10.80). It will appear on the markets from October 2023, and will cost 550 JPY ($4) each. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

The Pikmin bath bomb looks kind of like a Pikmin that is still in the ground because the leaf is protruding out of it. Once the outside layer dissolves in the water, a figure will pop out. In total, there are five different kinds of Pikmin figures that you can collect. You'll be able to get either a red, blue, yellow, purple, or white Pikmin. As for the bath bomb itself, it gives off a fruity scent.

Pikmin first came out in 2001, and the latest mainline title, Pikmin 4, will come out on July 21, 2023. The game is a platformer in which the player character issues commands to little creatures called Pikmins. Each color has a different affinity and strength, such as Red Pikmin having high attack power and fire resistance. Due to their simple and cute designs, Nintendo and other companies have often released merchandise with Pikmin on them in the past.

The Pikmin bath bombs will start appearing for purchase from October 2023. Pikmin 4 is in development and will come out on the Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2023.

Like A Dragon Gaiden Trailer Kiryu Energy TetherThose who watched last year's RGG Summit stream likely remember the announcement of Like a Dragon Gaiden. This upcoming spinoff promised to explore series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu's story after the events of Yakuza 6, the final main entry that featured Kiryu as the focus.
