The Hundreds Teases A Collaboration With Xbox

Independent streetwear brand, The Hundreds is teasing a new Xbox collaboration ahead of the launch of the next generation of Xbox consoles. The LA-based brand, known for its collaborations with brands like the NBA, Disney, Garfield and Batman is no stranger to making cool 90's-inspired apparel for big brands. Similarly, it's nothing new for Microsoft to collaborate with brands like Meta Threads to deliver gaming merch beyond the simplistic Xbox logo graphic tee.

The collaboration was originally teased on Twitter by the official The Hundreds Twitter account with an edited Xbox logo that's been made to look like the bomb emoji on a familiar Xbox-green background.

Not long after the original teaser Tweet, Aaron Greenberg, General Manager of Games and Marketing at Xbox quote Tweeted the tease to signal boost it to more of the core gaming audience, promising that the 'The Hundreds x Xbox' collaboration would be coming soon.

Xbox has a really solid track record for licensing their brand out to interesting, creative brands that find something to do with their iconic green branding outside of a graphic tee with a standard Xbox logo, and now that they have a solid stable of new first-party studios, IP and two new consoles, it's no surprise that Microsoft's probably chomping at the bit to get some new merch out for some of their new studios and IP. That said, it's no question that we'll be getting some awesome new apparel themed around classic Xbox IP like Halo and Gears, especially since Halo Infinite is slated for a release sometime next year and two Gears games are launching with new content and optimizations for the two upcoming Xbox consoles.

Sony Forces PS5 Third-Party Faceplate Maker to Cancel Pre-Orders Following Legal Action

From its initial reveal this past summer, the PS5 gained a lot of attention for the system's unusual (and very large) design that marks a big departure from past PlayStation consoles. Sporting a futuristic black-and-white design, the PS5 stands out quite a bit, particularly for its white "plates" that are alongside the left and right sides of the system. While one company tried to capitalize on the prospects of making customized PS5 faceplates, Sony has intervened with legal action and forced the storefront to cancel its pending orders.

In a report from Video Games Chronicle, a peripheral company that was initially known as "The Plate Station" and "PlateStation 5" has faced legal action from Sony, preventing the company from producing and selling custom PS5 faceplates. Originally, the company had a lineup of replaceable faceplates for the PS5 in different colors and patterns, such as a black option and other color schemes, that customers could purchase and swap with the standard white plates that come with the launch systems.

However, Sony had threatened legal action against the company shortly after their products began going on sale, forcing the site to rebrand to "Customize My Plates" and to completely cancel all pre-orders of its line of replaceable PS5 faceplates. According to a statement from the website to VGC, initially the site's team had done "due diligence and were of the opinion, that because Sony only had pending patents on the faceplates there would be no problem." However, shortly after the site's launch, Sony's legal team cited trademark infringements in the production of the faceplates and that the company would face legal action if they manufactured and shipped the custom plates to any country.

Since then, Customize My Plates has cancelled and refunded all pre-orders for the removeable faceplates, stating that "we are extremely disappointed about this but we have no other option." At the moment, the company's website is still currently selling a variety of skins for both the PS5 and the DualSense controller, giving some flexibility to customers that might want other color options than the system's standard black-and-white color scheme. However, it's important to note that these are third-party cosmetics, and it wouldn't be too surprising if Sony might have plans to produce official first-party plate replacements (or alternate console colors) for the PS5 down the line.

The PS5 will officially launch on November 12, 2020 in select regions, followed by a larger worldwide release on November 19, 2020.

The Witcher Netflix Series is Getting Action Figures from McFarlane Toys

The Witcher, Netflix, Henry Cavill

Following the release of its first season late last year, The Witcher became one of Netflix's biggest original series yet and brought a whole new audience into the world of everyone's favorite monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia. Adapted from the original Polish book series, the Netflix series had a strong debut and is well into production on its second season. However, for fans that can't get enough of the series, you might want to toss a coin to McFarlane Toys sometime in the future.

McFarlane Toys announced (via their official Facebook) that the toy and collectible maker is producing a new line of figurines based on Netflix's The Witcher series in 2021. While the company has previously adapted CD Projekt Red's The Witcher series into toy form (such as a striking Geralt figure revealed this summer), this collaboration will specifically focus on Netflix's take on the beloved fantasy franchise.

At the moment, McFarlane Toys has not officially announced which characters (or monsters) that the figurines might draw from, but it's fairly safe to assume that we'll likely see the series' core trio–Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer–get the collectible treatment among others. McFarlane Toys also released a teaser image to announce the collaboration, which you can find below:

Right before the debut of its first season in December 2019, Netflix had preemptively renewed The Witcher for a second season, which began production at the beginning of 2020. However, filming on the second season had been interrupted this past spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with production for the series resuming this past August. Initially it was reported that the second season was aiming to debut sometime in 2021, but with the complications that arose from the pandemic and production delays, it's likely that Season 2 could come at a later date.

Netflix's The Witcher is currently filming its second season, and the first season is available to stream now.

Gran Turismo 7 Rumored to Launch on PS5 in the First Half of 2021

Initially revealed during Sony's PS5 reveal showcase this past June, Gran Turismo 7 will bring the long-running racing series to the next-generation sometime in the future on PS5. Powered by the next-gen hardware of Sony's upcoming system, it hasn't been clear when the next installment of the iconic racing series will be arriving, but a recent ad suggests that the game could be releasing for the system as soon as next year.

As noted by GTPlanet, a recent YouTube ad from Sony for the PS5's launch highlighted the upcoming Gran Turismo 7, and seemingly may have uncovered the game's release window. In the corner of the ad's thumbnail, a line of text appears to state in French, "Sortie prévue pour la première moitié de 2021," which translates that the game is scheduled for release in the first half of 2021.

Naturally, this should be taken with a grain of salt as neither Sony or developer Polyphony Digital have announced an official release window or date yet for Gran Turismo 7. While this is coming from an official Sony source–in this case a YouTube ad–we recently saw some mistakes that cropped up on Sony's marketing earlier this year, such as an ad for Demon's Souls that incorrectly stated that the game would also be coming to PC.

However, it isn't too hard to imagine that Gran Turismo 7 could be lined up for sometime next year to fill up the PS5's post-launch calendar. Sony already has a number of titles lined up to release for the system next year including the next God of WarHorizon Forbidden West, and (presumably) Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Until then, we'll have to wait and see whether the next installment in the racing series will join the roster for a packed 2021 for Sony first-party games.

Gran Turismo 7 is currently in development for PS5, though no specific release date or window for the game has been officially announced yet.

Next Outriders Broadcast Hits This Week, Will Dig Into End Game

People Can Fly, Square Enix, Outriders, PS5, Xbox Series X

Outriders creator People Can Fly have slowly been trickling out details about the upcoming multiplayer third-person shooter. We've seen three Outriders Broadcasts to date, each looking at different aspects of the game. This week, we're finally getting the fourth show, which will shed some light on what players can expect from the end game. It's an important question PCF has yet to answer, so many prospective players will be paying close attention this Thursday.

In Outriders, post-launch content will take the form of Expeditions. We don't know too much about them just yet; however, it'll be interesting to see what PCF has come up with. After all, they've touted this game as a fully complete game on disc. This is not a game as a service title, which might surprise anyone who hasn't paid close attention. If the team can deliver something compelling to keep players around long after they finish the campaign, they might have something special on their hands.

Of course, the end game isn't the only thing People Can Fly will be showing off. Players will also get a better look at the Technomancer, Outriders' fourth playable class. I actually had the chance to check the class out with DualShocker's own Scott White. You can check out his full thoughts, but, in short, the class was pretty fun and filled an important hole.

Make sure to check back later this week for a full report on the latest Outriders broadcast. The game is set to launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on February 2.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Cover Art By BossLogic Feels Straight From Into the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man

As one of the biggest titles launching this holiday season for the PS5Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is sure to be one of the showpiece games for the arrival of the next-generation consoles. Naturally, with the game featuring Spider-Man fan favorite Miles Morales, artist BossLogic has shared his own interpretation of the game's cover art through the style of the hit animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Over on Twitter, BossLogic shared his original takes on the cover art for Miles Morales inspired by Into the Spider-Verse, featuring Miles in the film's version of the suit and with some stylistic distortion that would feel right at home in the film. Given that the film itself is strikingly animated and has such a unique style, it's not hard to imagine that this would translate well to the cover art of the upcoming Insomniac title.

You can check out the full cover art for Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales from BossLogic below, alongside alternate versions of the art:

Last week, developer Insomniac Games announced that Miles Morales will feature an official crossover from the 2018 film in the form of Miles' suit from Into the Spider-Verse. The suit will be available as a launch-day bonus for Miles Morales release on PS5 and PS4, and is even animated in the style of Into the Spider-Verse to make it seem like Miles is moving at a different framerate compared to the rest of the environment. Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man featured a ton of different suits from across the history of Spider-Man comics and movies, but it's still welcome to see that Miles Morales will feature plenty of other iconic suits for Miles to wear in-game.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will release for both PS5 and PS4 on November 12, 2020.

The Dark Pictures Anthology's Next Installment, House of Ashes, is Coming in 2021

Over the past several years, developer Supermassive Games (known for the hit PS4 exclusive Until Dawn) founds its niche in producing tense, suspenseful horror titles that lean heavily into player choice and narrative. The studio expanded its knack for telling horror stories with The Dark Pictures Anthology series, and coming off the release of its most recent installment, the studio seems lined up to tell the next chapter in the story sometime next year.

With the release of The Dark Pictures Anthology's most recent installment, Little Hope, players have discovered that the game features a post-credits easter egg; namely, a teaser trailer for the series' next installment. As seen in the teaser trailer, the next Dark Pictures game is called House of Ashes, and it will be launching in 2021.

You can check out the full trailer for The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes below:

From what the teaser trailer shows, House of Ashes will seemingly take place in the Middle East and focuses on a group of soldiers that appear to have uncovered an ancient burial ground that, naturally, has some unusual happenings around it. Compared to the more supernatural settings of the series' past installments, Man of Medan and Little Hope, it seems like House of Ashes will take things in a very different direction, especially with its desert setting and featuring a group of well-armed military vets.

Additionally, following the trailer's release, many have speculated that the game seems to star Ashley Tisdale as one of the lead protagonists, known for her roles in High School Musical and Scary Movie 5. At the moment it isn't officially confirmed yet if Tisdale is starring, but the female protagonist shown in the trailer definitely bears a striking resemblance to her. Additionally, Supermassive has featured well-known actors in their past games such as Hayden Panettiere, Rami Malek, Shawn Ashmore, and Will Poulter, making it likely that we'll see at least one celebrity appearance in House of Ashes.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes will debut sometime in 2021.

Steve Aoki, xQc and More to Face Off In Upcoming VR Game, Cradle of Sins

British VR developer U24 Solutions, the studio behind the upcoming game, Cradle of Sins, has organized an online event for DJs like Steve Aoki and Headhunterz and content creators like Sodapoppin and xQc among other popular DJs and Twitch streamers to face off in eight teams in their upcoming game to promote the game's impending launch in early access. The event, dubbed 'Beat & Battle,' will showcase Beta gameplay for the first-person 3-on-3 VR MOBA and allow the celebrity combatants to fight for prize money to donate to a charity of their choice.

The event, set to air on the game's official Twitch channel, is happening on Wednesday, November 11. U24 hasn't shown off gameplay for the game for a few months now, so this is likely an indication that the Beta isn't too far away. So far, the most recent gameplay that's been released is in this brief teaser for the upcoming Beta.

The full list of YouTubers, streamers, eSports players and DJs involved includes Steve Aoki, xQc, PeskyCashew, Headhunterz, Sodapoppin, AxisMunde, Will Sparks, Loserfruit, Amanda Harkimo, ProjectJamesify, WATEVE, Yassuo, Daniel Levi, The Lonely Viper, MAGNUS, Reality Check VR, Milwin and Godhyr, with more pro players to be revealed between now and the 'Beat and Battle' event.

As things stand right now, U24 says that Cradle of Sins is set to launch in early access on Steam sometime in Q4 this year for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Valve Index and Mixed Reality. Developer U24's site also includes references to platforms like iOS, PS4 and Android, suggesting that players on other platforms might be able to try it out when the game fully launches. Between November 11 and the game's nebulous early access launch date, it'll be interesting to see how the highly competitive MOBA genre crosses over into VR, especially since it's in first-person.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Will Be Exclusive to PS5, According to Insomniac Games

PS5, Ratchet and Clank, Insomniac

As one of the first titles showcased from Sony's next-gen lineup, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has been one of the earliest titles to showcase the enhanced hardware features of the PS5. From its seamless transitions between different settings and implementation of ray tracing, Rift Apart seems like one of the best displays next of what is possible with the upcoming next-gen hardware, and as clarified by Insomniac, it will be a wholly-exclusive PS5 title.

Developer Insomniac Games, in response to a fan question on Twitter, clarified that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be an exclusive release for the PS5, which eliminates any doubt of whether the game may be a cross-gen PS4 release. Though the developer didn't provide any specifics, it seems most likely that the design and technical features of Rift Apart are meant to take advantage of the enhanced hardware of the PS5, most notably its SSD and reduced loading times for its rift effects and transitions.

While this confirmation may seem like a foregone conclusion, it is notable in the sense that it confirms Rift Apart as one of the first titles built specifically with Sony's next-gen hardware in mind. After its initial reveal event in June, Sony revealed later this year that several of its other upcoming first-party titles like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles MoralesSackboy: A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West would be cross-gen releases also coming to the PS4, which clears the air a bit for Rift Apart's PS5 exclusivity.

Insomniac Games confirmed earlier this year that Rift Apart would be releasing as a "launch window" title for the PS5, though the developer has yet to share a specific release date or window for it since then. At the moment, the PS5 launch will already feature several first-party titles like Demon's Souls and Miles Morales to keep new console buyers busy, so it's likely that we might see Rift Apart come sometime in early 2021.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is currently in development for PS5 and expected sometime within the system's launch window.

Dragon Quest XI S Staff On Bringing The Definitive Edition To PS4, PC, Xbox One

Dragon Quest XI S story feature Q&A

Ahead of the December 4 release of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition on PS4, PC, and Xbox One, DualShockers recently had the opportunity to interview the game's staff. Speaking with Director Masato Yagi, and Producer Hokuto Okamoto, we have a few new details on how Square Enix created the Definitive Edition to one of the best JRPGs of the last decade.

Note that if you'd like to try out Dragon Quest XI S right now, a demo has just been released, with ten hours of content.

The release of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition on Xbox One will make history, with the Dragon Quest series coming to the Xbox family for the first time. Do you have some comments to share regarding this new page in the history of Dragon Quest?

Masato Yagi, Director: I feel that it is a great development. Going forward I want to continue being able to let many different people enjoy the games on many different hardware platforms like this.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition includes the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, with players being able to switch to its 2D style at save points. When it comes to the technical side of things, did you encounter certain challenges with what we could call porting a Nintendo 3DS game to Switch, PS4, PC and Xbox One?

Masato Yagi: The player's field of vision is different on the 3DS version, so we needed to adjust the characters' size and event scenes in line with that, which was relatively hard work.

The new marriage options for the protagonist in Definitive Edition include male options. What inspired the development team to include these options?

Hokuto Okamoto, Producer: This was done because there was a demand to be able to select your favorite party character. Also, it is not marriage, but living together with that character, so please do not misunderstand.

What made the team decide to offer a fully orchestrated OST option for the first time in the Dragon Quest franchise? What were some of the challenges involved in making that proposal?

Hokuto Okamoto: The orchestral recordings were carried out at the time we were working on the Definitive Edition and we implemented them because we wanted to provide the player with an even richer game experience. There are those who feel that the synthesized music fits better with the pixel sprites in the 2D mode, so we put both in to allow players to play in the way they like.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition includes both a Photo Mode and a highly accelerated battle speed mode. Could you tell us the reasons behind these new additions?

Masato Yagi: They came from us thinking about how we could make Dragon Quest XI S a game that could be enjoyed by those who had already played the PS4 or 3DS versions of the game, those playing for the first time with XI S, and also newcomers for whom it will be their first time playing the Dragon Quest series.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition will be available December 4 on PC via Windows 10 and Steam, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass. The game is already available on Switch. Together with the original version of the game, DQ XI already sold over 6 million copies worldwide.

Dragon Quest main creator Yuji Horii recently teased new announcements for the 35th anniversary of the series in 2021. Square Enix is also currently developing a console game for Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai.
