The best clicker games and idle games on PC 2023

What are the best clicker games and idle games? There are some interesting connotations that come along with clicker games. Also known as 'incremental' or 'idle' games, the name betrays certain expectations: click your mouse, get a tiny reward, and repeat until you can make the process more efficient and lucrative like a lab rat pulling away at levers until it gets a tasty food pellet.

In most cases, there's a snowball effect that accompanies your progress that makes your clicks more productive, hence the "incremental" moniker. There are also many games that operate automatically even when you're not playing, which justifies the "idle" nickname. Clicker games manage to distil high-complexity concepts down into a series of single clicks and automation, and while they might not be among the best PC games for their depth or storylines, clicker games are certainly among the most calming and relaxing games around.

CSGO ranks guide: how to get player and team rankings

As with so many things about Valve's peerless team-based shooter, CSGO ranks are hard to wrap your head around when starting out. There is little in the way of in-game explanations to help you figure out how to get started with CSGO rankings. It doesn't help that earning your stripes will take a lot longer than in other competitive first-person shooters like Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch, either.

CSGO has continued to grow, now touting a concurrent player count of over one million during peak hours. That means there are a lot of new players learning the ropes and trying to adjust to one of the best PC games of all time. With 18 CSGO ranks, a lengthy road to getting ranked, and then the never-ending task of improving your rank lying ahead of you, we thought you could use a helping hand in the unforgiving multiplayer game - here is a breakdown of CSGO's ranking system.

What are the most useful CSGO console commands? Like with many of Valve's other games, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive can exploit the power of the Source engine console to give you more options and better settings. It's just as important for improving at the game as knowing where to aim guns and grenades - plus, it can even make practising that much easier and more efficient. Being a Steam game, CSGO also has launch options that can be configured to customise elements before you're even loaded in.

Below we'll break down all the best CSGO console commands and launch options, and even recommend what you should change in your config files to give you the biggest advantage possible in one of the best PC games of all time.      The best god games on PC 2023

What are the best god games on PC? Whether you're a beneficent deity, carefully managing a virtual world so that everyone can live in comfort and harmony, or an agent of chaos who has gone mad with power ever since deleting the pool ladder in The Sims 2, god games are a great way to flex your management games muscles on a cosmic scale.

The traditional god game typically involves supervising some hapless humans, who you can't directly control, but will benefit from your benevolent oversight. This might sound like a city-building game on the surface, but your morality is tested when you have to decide to prioritise people over profits. You might even be able to level up your godly powers as your people worship you - let's face it, gods are total narcissists. You're going to want to pray for some cash you won't find these games on our best free PC games list. There's nothing quite like exerting total and complete control over helpless little creatures, so without further ado, here are the best god games on PC.

The best games like RimWorld and Dwarf Fortress

So, you want some games like RimWorld? As Charles Caleb Colton said back in the days of the Commodore 64: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". But what must also be remembered is that without imitation we wouldn't have innovation, and without innovation, we wouldn't have variety.

Dwarf Fortress, iconic for its deep, emergent gameplay and ASCII graphics, actually innovated on games like King of Dragon Pass. That older but just as classic text-based clan manager is near unrecognisable to our modern town-builders, but its influence is still felt.      The best tank games on PC 2023

What are the best tank games on PC? Rolling into battle in a vehicle that weighs the same as ten elephants and can raze entire buildings with a single shot simply never gets old, but it's not always easy to find a tank game that delivers in all the key areas. If you're looking for the best free tank games or the biggest triple-A armoured division sims, you've come to the right place.

Just like the best war games, the best tank games are brilliant because they're all about making you, the player, feel both overpowered and invulnerable. But the tank in some of the best free PC games is also synonymous with tense firefights and immense claustrophobia. The agony of reloading, the snail's pace, and the fact that you're the enemy's priority target - and not a small one at that - make tank games as nerve-wracking as they are empowering.

Want to try the best sword games on PC? Hacking and slashing your way through hordes of enemies with an oversized sword in hand is one of videogaming's greatest delights.      Best games like Skyrim on PC 2023

Looking for the best games like Skyrim? It may be nearly a decade old, but the open-world RPG still feels peerless. The majesty of its frozen fantasy world stole our hearts when it launched in 2011, and many of us are still playing it to this day. Skyrim has managed to age gracefully over the years and is still one of a select few RPGs that can take you on an unforgettable adventure.

Its staying power is helped along with a little help from some of the best Skyrim mods. Returning to those admittedly aging graphics is made easier with new HD textures while new quests can be added to the game by installing fan-made expansions. Skyrim has contributed to the rise in popularity of open-world fantasy RPGs, but there are plenty of other games with reams of lore to learn, expansive character customisation, and a dedication to creating an immersive world. Clash: Artifacts Of Chaos is nails, mate. And that's coming from someone who recently reviewed Team Ninja's Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, a game that's mighty good at grinding people into paste. I'm not trying brag; I'm being vulnerable with you. I have a case of the Ben Affleck blues, where most sessions of Clash's third-person action-adventuring have me veering from elation to being slumped against a wall with Affleck's signature grimace on my face.

Aside from being really difficult, I'm a bit undecided on how I feel about Clash in the portions I've played so far. It looks fantastic and puts some brilliant spins on combat, but levelling is a bore and exploration has a confusing edge. It's at once both a grand time and an annoying one. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC characters

The latest wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe add-on content has arrived. Judging from the updated character screen, more Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC characters are planned. [Thanks, Wario64 and PadWarrior!]

The new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC characters will appear alongside the newly-added Birdo. Birdo was announced in a previous reveal, along with the addition of a Yoshi's Island course. Birdo stands at the head of an entire new column in the character select screen. Below her are five blank spaces occupied by "?s."

https://twitter.com/pad_warrior/status/1633636254989574144

With two more waves of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC coming, the five new characters will presumably be added as part of those waves. As to who they could be, there are still a few Nintendo-related characters that could make the cut. Samus Aran from the Metroid series could be one. Splatoon's prominence as part of Nintendo's top-line franchises could hint at the arrival of a named character from one of the games. The upcoming launch of a new Zelda title could also herald the arrival of a character to accompany Link.

The Nintendo press release that accompanied Wave 4 also promised "more returning courses and characters from across the Mario Kart series." Narrowing the list to only characters that have previously appeared in a Mario Kart game but not Mario Kart 8 Deluxe suggests characters like Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, R.O.B. Pauline, and more obscure names like Wiggler and Petey Pirhana.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available on the Nintendo Switch. Wave 4 of its DLC arrived on March 9, 2023, with two more waves planned.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Rain

Capcom promised it will fix the way the rain in Spain falls. Following online complaints about the Resident Evil 4 Remake rain effects, Capcom stated that a launch-day patch will bring adjustments. [Thanks, Press Start!]

The comment came from Resident Evil 4 Remake Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi in an interview with Press Start's James Berich. Berich mentioned online complaints about the Resident Evil 4 Remake rain effects, which emerged after viewers saw gameplay videos published by Game Informer in February 2023. Berich asked if Capcom intended to address what some fans were dubbing "raingate".

Hirabayashi said that the team had "seen everyone's reaction to the rain effects," and was "working on a day-one patch to make adjustments." Given the timing of the patch, no information was available about just how the rainfall effect would be adjusted, but it will likely look different from the build experienced by Game Informer's staff.

For your reference, here's the video that sparked the "raingate" complaints.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBoRm0QFUk0

The video by Game Informer shows footage from Chapter 5 of the Resident Evil 4 Remake. In it, a player in control of Leon fights his way through a hostile village full of the game's signature Ganados. A heavy thunderstorm drenches the village in a constant downpour that hits the characters whenever they're out of cover. It even seems to interfere with aiming, though the reflectivity of the rain effect also puts a large amount of visual noise onscreen.

The Resident Evil 4 Remake will launch on March 24, 2023. It'll arrive on the PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Check out Siliconera's preview of the game.

Boruto Part 1

The next generation of ninjas is coming to an end. According to the official Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime websiteBoruto Part 1 will see its finale arrive with episode 293. The episode airs on March 26, 2023, and will close out "Part 1" of the Boruto story. Viz Media, which publishes Shonen Jump in English, confirmed the finale date via its own account.

The Boruto Part 1 finale will air and cap a continuous six-year run of the show since it premiered in April 2017. The story isn't over yet, though, as production of Boruto Part 2 is already underway. The site didn't clarify when it would air, though.

In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations' place, though, a new anime project is planned. In September 2023, a "brand new" four-episode series will air, to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Naruto. The episodes will likely feature members of the original Naruto cast, given the timing. In addition, from July 2023, reruns of specially selected episodes of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden will air in Japan.

Boruto Part 1 stars the titular Boruto, son of Naruto Uzumaki. Naruto has grown up and become the Seventh Hokage and leader of the Hidden Leaf village. He's also married Hinata Hyuga and together they had two children: Boruto and Himawari. Boruto joins a ninja team alongside Sarada Uchiha (daughter of Sasuke and Sakura) and Mitsuki, the son of Orochimaru. The stories in Boruto center around the emergence of new threats to the world that emerged following the Fourth Shinobi World War, as well as Boruto and his companions' growth as young ninjas.

The Boruto Part 1 anime finale airs on March 26, 2023. The anime is available from various streaming services, including Crunchyroll. The manga is published in English by Viz Media. Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is a new fighting game that was announced in February 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC.

Figure maker Kotobukiya unveiled the appearance of its Star Trek Bishoujo Vulcan figure. The official Kotobukiya online store updated the product page for the figure, officially named the Star Trek Bishoujo Vulcan Science Officer. It also appeared on the Sideshow Collectibles site for international pre-orders.

The figure stands about 8.5" inches (about 22.6 cm) tall and is made of PVC. It will ship in September 2023, and costs 16,500 Yen (about $120 USD) in Japan. The Sideshow collectibles product page sets the pre-order price at $130 USD, with an October-December 2023 shipping window.

As with other figures in the line, the Bishoujo Vulcan Science Officer is based on a character design by illustrator Shunya Yamashita. First revealed in early February 2023, the design shows a black-haired female Vulcan officer wearing a Starfleet uniform in the style of the original 1966 Star Trek TV series.

[gallery size="medium" ids="954551,954552,954553,954554,954555,954556" link="file"]

Though technically not a female version of Star Trek character Spock, she shares the same specialization, species, and rank as the iconic U.S.S. Enterprise crew member. She also carries an original series-style tricorder in a black shoulder bag, and is posed striking the distinctive Vulcan salute. The base of the figure also replicates rock and sand, implying she's on an away team mission.

The Bishoujo Vulcan Science Officer is the first of three planned Star Trek Bishoujo figures. The other two designs haven't been revealed yet, so it's possible that they could be based on other original series characters. They could also be based on designs from different  Star Trek eras, like that of the Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, or even Enterprise or Star Trek Discovery.

The Star Trek Bishoujo Vulcan Science Officer is available for pre-order.

Megaton Musashi Wired

Level-5 unveiled details on Megaton Musashi Wired at its 2023 Vision livestream event. Wired is an updated rerelease of the existing Megaton Musashi X, and will be the game's first step beyond Japan's shores.

Based on 2021's Megaton Musashi XMegaton Musashi Wired will appear on PS4, PS5 and PC, and feature the content of both the original game and a large amount of new content. It'll also support online cross-play for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC versions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mEq_N0oWbQ

Megaton Musashi's story pays tribute to the classic era of Japanese Super Robot anime. Only a select group of youngsters know the truth, and fight back against their oppressors using giant mecha called "Rogues."

Players will be able to build and customize their own Rogues and take them into battle in single- and multi-player matches. The game will have both co-op and competitive play. Additionally, it'll have crossovers with famous Super Robots, including Mazinger Z, UFO Robot Grendizer, Getter Robo, Combattler V, and Voltes V.

Megaton Musashi Wired is in development for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and a 2023 global release is planned.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam

The existence of a new Professor Layton game was revealed at last month's Nintendo Direct, but details on the project were scarce. Level-5 has rectified that by dropping new info at its 2023 Vision livestream event. A presentation and gameplay preview of Professor Layton and the New World of Steam revealed more about the game's setting, story, and anticipated mechanics.

The livestream built off the brief Professor Layton and the New World of Steam teaser from February 2023. The story takes place a year after Layton and his apprentice Luke parted ways. Luke has since moved to America, and invited Layton to visit him in the city of Steam Bison, where advanced steam-powered machines are at the forefront of technology. There Layton and Luke's roles are reversed somewhat. Though an authority on riddles in his native London, he's pretty much unknown in America. By contrast, Luke is a rising star, the famous "Detective Luke". The pair will reunite in a new and unfamiliar place, solving puzzles together and seeing Steam Bison grow and change over time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9IM9gWjZn4

Level-5 revealed that the Japanese voice roles for Layton and Luke have been retained. Layton will be played by Yo Oizumi, who also played Turnip Head in Howl's Moving Castle. Luke will be played by Mio Imada, who played Kiruka Hasaki in the My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising feature film. The game's puzzles were designed by QuizKnock, a group of entertainers based in the University of Tokyo who specialize in creating quizzes, puzzles, and other brain-teasers.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is in development for the Nintendo Switch. It doesn't have a release window as of yet, but will be released globally.

New Fantasy Life i Switch Trailer Appears jobs lives

Now that the Level-5 Vision 2023 Tsuzumi appeared, we know more about Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. The RPG, which allows people to live through different lives and engage in quests, is on the way to the Nintendo Switch. It first showed up during the February 2023 Nintendo Direct. However, during this presentation more details about its gameplay and roles appeared in a new trailer. Among them was a confirmation there will be 14 "lives" in Fantasy Life i, with 12 returning and two obscured in the stream. The "i" in the title was also explained by Akihiro Hino

In Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, players live a live on Mysteria Island in Reveria. The new trailer begins by showing the avatar creation process. People can pick out their character's look, clothing, hair style and color, and voice. Then, they head out to the island to take on jobs. People start out as novices and work their way up. It is possible to focus on one, or master them all. You can also decorate both your home and town, while living your life as you please or helping to solve the mystery of an island with a girl who can control time and a dragon.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EVgTrFkCoU&ab_channel=LEVEL5ch%E3%80%90%E5%85%AC%E5%BC%8F%E3%80%91

A quick screen also appeared during the video showing some of the lives, which are the series' jobs. This showed 12 returning jobs, which if the names follow the past localizations will be Mercenary, Paladin, Hunter, Magician, Miner, Woodcutter, Angler, Cook, Blacksmith, Carpenter, Tailor, and Alchemist. Two were hidden under question marks.
New Fantasy Life i Switch Trailer Appears Lives Jobs

CEO Akihiro Hino said the "i" in the game's title stood for four things. However, only three were revealed. These are "island" to signify its location, "internet" to show its multiplayer, and "I" to stand for the player. The fourth was left a secret.

As mentioned before, this will be the third Fantasy Life game proper. The original game appeared on the 3DS. It also ended up with a lengthy expansion people could download. Level-5 also worked on a mobile game called Fantasy Life Online. The mobile game has since been shutdown, however.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time will come to the Switch in 2023.

New Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road Features 4,500 Characters from Past Games

Level-5 used its Vision 2023 Tsuzumi presentation to bring up more news about Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road for the Switch. The game has been through quite a bit in its lifespan, but now seems closer to release. At the end of the showcase, a full explanation and gameplay footage appeared. So did a 2023 release window.

Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road is set at Nagasaki, Kyushu's Nagumoharu Junior High. Players follow Unmei Sasanami, who gave up soccer. However, he gets pulled back into that world and the Soccer Summit by Haru Endo. They can then go through the story to become champions, recruiting over 4,500 characters from past games. However, there is also a Inazuma V Caravan that allows someone to "travel through history" to go through Chronicle Competition Routes based on past games.

There will be 5v5 games, with a freestyle mode. People can play in landscape or portrait modes, with quick actions that can use touch controls to play. You can create your own team of characters from the past and future. These can be used against "hidden" competitors too, as well as when playing online.

This is the latest trailer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyzTxMlYqWo&ab_channel=LEVEL5ch%E3%80%90%E5%85%AC%E5%BC%8F%E3%80%91

As a reminder, this Inazuma Eleven game began life as Inazuma Eleven: Balance of Ares. That was announced back in July 2016. However, due to development issues, work restarted and it instead became Inazuma Eleven: Great Road of Heroes in September 2019. After further development over the years and during COVID, it eventually ended up renamed as Victory Road of Heroes, or Victory Road for short. Since then, more footage appeared and Level-5's talked more about the project.

Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road of Heroes will come to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and mobile devices in 2023.

Decapolice Characters and Story Shared in New Trailer

The Level-5 Vision 2023 Tsuzumi presentation kicked off with an extended version of the original Decapolice reveal trailer showcasing its characters and gameplay. After that, it shared an entirely new trailer of the "cross-media" game.

Decapolice stars Harvard Marks, one of multiple Broadstone Police Department detectives who is in the Decasim training to solve crimes. In addition to main character Harvard, players will work alongside Carl Oxford, Zhang Tsinghua, Manimani Manqa, and Mikey Princeton, and they're guided by Instructor Misae Cambridge. It's a virtual reality version of the city with the same incidents as the real one. He'll need to solve crimes there. These can be recent cases or ones that happened 12 years ago. However, a hacker changed their avatar looks to that of cartoons. They then need to hunt down the clown while performing investigations. This means RPG-like battles.

First, here's the extended original trailer.

The game was first revealed at the February 2023 Nintendo Direct. At the time, it initially was only mentioned as a Switch game.

Decapolice will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in 2023. There's no exact release window for it yet, though it is expected to appear later this year.

How to Finish 'Stage Actors' in Octopath Traveler 2

With the "Stage Actors" Octopath Traveler 2 side story, it might seem like a situation in which you bring NPCs to the Stage Director. After all, the Tropu'hopu NPC mentions people who cab show passion in battle. But really, you just need to fight this character.

Head north of the main Tropu'hopu space to get to the Floating Theater area. The Stage Director is to the right of the stage itself. This is a genuinely strong opponent, with 7/10 marks, so try to be at least at level 40.

Now, when I fought the Stage Director, I used Ochette. So I can't speak to all the weaknesses, as Provoke limits you to monster usage. However, this opponent is susceptible to sword, dagger, and wind attacks.

Once you finish the encounter, it gets really fun! Because of your challenge, there are different ways the story can go. I recommend saving before you finish this quest. The character who completed it becomes the star of their own "play." With my Ochette one, she ended up being a "maiden of mystery" trying to find her parents that happened upon a new threat to her well being. Akala even factored into the performance.

Once the show is done, you get 4,500 leaves and a Physical Belt for finishing "Stage Actors" in Octopath Traveler 2.

Octopath Traveler 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. A demo is available.
