Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, March 18, 2025 6:55 PM ![]() It's been four months since Stalker 2 was released, starting life as a really great shooter that had more tech issues than you can shake a stick at, but GSC Game World have kept themselves busy with some hefty patches. The first one alone had almost 2000 fixes, with the second one following that up with more than 1700. As of today, patch 1.3 is here, this time bringing in over 1200 changes, fixes, and improvements. Obviously quite a bit less than the previous two main patches, but a sizable figure nonetheless, and hopefully a sign that the game is getting to a healthy point. |

The Katamari Damacy game series reached its 21st anniversary on March 18, 2025. Bandai Namco celebrated the occasion by revealing numerous new plushies that will appear in April 2025.
The first ones revealed are Nuigurumi Keyholders—better described in English as plush keychains—of the Prince and two of his cousins: Miso and Ichigo. Prices for these items will range from 1,760 yen (~$11.85) to 1,925 yen (~$12.95). Pre-orders are available at Natalie Store, which also supports international shipping via the WorldShopping widget.

The next item revealed is a large plush featuring the titular Katamari ball, which will have a size of around 27 cm (~10.63 inches). Bandai Namco will release this plush as a crane game prize via the Banpresto brand.

In addition, Bandai announced that it is working on Narabundesu capsule toy figures that will feature the Prince along with Miso, Ichigo, Opeo, and Huey. The five figures will be available via Gashapon vending machines across Japan in April 2025.
The new plushies are not the only things Bandai Namco revealed in its press release. The company also announced that it is working with Village Vanguard to restock the merchandise revealed around the 2025 New Year holidays. The pre-order window for the new batch will open on March 19-30, 2025. The newly revealed Apple Arcade game, Katamari Rolling Live, is also part of the series' 21st-anniversary celebrations.
Katamari Damacy originally appeared for PlayStation 2 in Japan on March 18, 2004. Bandai Namco has since released Reroll remasters of the game and its 2005 sequel We Love Katamari for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Best 3D Turn-based JRPGs on Switch
The Switch is well-known for its excellent selection of JRPGs, and traditionally these feature turn-based combat. However, in recent years, favor has turned to action RPGs and turn-based games have been pushed to the side; even Pokémon's next game has real-time combat. That doesn't mean that there aren't excellent 3D turn-based JRPGs. On the contrary there are many excellent games on the Switch from the genre. Here are our 10 favorite 3D turn-based JRPGs available on Nintendo Switch.
Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk
![]()
As we excitedly wait for the next entry in the series, Atelier Yumia, we had to add one of these games to the list. While the more recent entries in the Atelier series are all action combat, the series is best known for its turn-based roots. Most games from the series are available on Switch, but we've chosen Atelier Ayesha as the representative for this list, as the beginning of the glorious Dusk Trilogy.
As the name suggests, the series is about people working in ateliers, and there is a strong emphasis on collecting resources out in the world in order to craft items and potions that you can use in battle. This means that the strategic layer to the game is evident both in and out of combat. One of the best things about Atelier Ayesha is that once you're finished there are plenty of other games in the series to enjoy.
Super Mario RPG
![]()
Everyone talks about Paper Mario – in particular The Thousand-Year Door – but the game that the series was built from hardly gets mentioned. Super Mario RPG originally launched on the SNES, when very few games were made with 3D graphics. It was a risk in many ways. There was not only the question of whether people would be interested in a turn-based Super Mario game, but the game also went against many long-standing RPG traditions.
Timing is crucial in Super Mario RPG, not only when you attack but when you defend as well. It adds an extra level of strategy to the game, and is something that few RPGs do. Separating it further from other RPGs is just how much damage is dealt and taken. Attacks often deal single-digit numbers, far from other bombastic RPGs that could see people hit for thousands. Super Mario RPG is not only one of the best turn-based JRPGs but the Switch version gives it several modern updates that fans love. The perfect place to start in your Mario RPG journey.
Persona 5 Royal
![]()
For many people Persona 5 is the pinnacle of the always excellent Persona series, and Persona 5 Royal improves on the already excellent game. Persona 5 returns to the dungeon crawling formula of the original Persona games, with carefully crafted dungeons rather than the seemingly never-ending procedural abysses of the modern Persona series, namely Persona 3 and Persona 4. This is one of the main reasons that Persona 5 has risen above the pack.
Persona 5 tells a beautiful, complex, and exceptionally long story about the power of friendship overcoming the status quo. Royal not only adds a new protagonist, but new social links, and additional scenes giving fans of the game even more to sink their teeth into. It runs flawlessly on the Switch, and its length means that the home to handheld feature of the console makes it the perfect way to play. Become part of the Phantom Thieves, and change society's hearts.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus
![]()
All mainline Pokémon games on the Switch are 3D turn-based JRPGs, and most of them are great, but we chose to highlight Pokémon Legends: Arceus as a completely fresh take on Pokémon's formula. Instead of battling your way through a series of Gym Leaders before reaching the Elite Four and becoming the champion, you will be roaming around semi-open areas, catching Pokémon and studying them for the Pokédex.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus not only changes the focus to catching, but also changes Pokémon's standard battle system. Battles are still turn-based, but they have an active system with Strong- and Agile-style moves. While the Pokémon and their movesets are the same as other games, what each move does is completely different in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. If you've tried out the mainline Pokémon games, and want something a little different, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is the way to go.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
![]()
Fire Emblem is one of Nintendo's flagship series, and Three Houses is one of the series' best. It has all of the turn-based strategic battles that the series is known for, as well as the ability to bond with your teammates to level them up, but as the name suggests, Three Houses has three different paths you can follow, adding to its replayability.
Fire Emblem is well known for its brutal permadeath system, where if your characters die in battle, they die in real life too. However, Three Houses included a Casual Mode where nobody can be gone for good. You can still have the traditional experience, but if like many people the permadeath turned you off from the series, this is the perfect entry point.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak
![]()
The Legend of Heroes series is one of the longest running, beginning in the '80s, and many of them are available on the Switch. We have chosen Trails Through Daybreak to represent the series in this list, not just because it is one of the best, but because it is a great place to start as it begins a separate arc. Interestingly, Trails Through Daybreak is the only game on this list, which allows the player to choose between real-time combat similar to Nihon Falcom's other major JRPG series Ys, or the turn-based combat the series is known for.
The series is known for its excellent characters and strategic combat, and Trails Through Daybreak exemplifies both of these. If you haven't played the series before, you won't understand every reference, but the developers have tried to make it one of the most accessible in the series in terms of the story and combat. It won't take 30 years of video game knowledge to understand how good the intricate and complex writing is.
Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII Remastered
![]()
If you're reading this list, you probably don't need to be told how good Final Fantasy VII or even Final Fantasy VIII are. We'll be holding our breaths a long time if we're hoping for the excellent Final Fantasy VII Remake to come to Switch, but this console is one of the best places you can experience the original FF7. It can be purchased in a double pack with FF8, which is the game long-time fans of the series often point to as the best.
Both games have very different turn-based systems, which can create devastating synergies in different ways. FF7's combat system is easier to use and more difficult to master. Creating devastating combinations requires good knowledge of Materia, Enemy Skills, and equipment that can link them in a way that stack. Conversely, FF8 is based on the Junction system, one that is difficult to grasp, but once you do, building up major damage is much simpler. Both can be purchased together at such a low cost, that it's worth trying them out.
Monark
![]()
Monark received middling reviews when it was released, and that's because people found the battles too difficult. However, the battles are actually one of Monark's greatest strengths, and where it fails is in explaining its systems properly. Once you understand how it works, and how your characters best synergize, it is one of the most satisfying turn-based strategy systems out there. The protagonist of Monark can Resonate with the other party members sharing buffs across all characters, leading to extremely devastating damage.
Similar to the Persona series, Monark focuses on the character's personal stories. Each character is based on one of the seven deadly sins, and each has a dark past. Despite this, they all band together to take on the forces that are keeping the students trapped in school and sucking the life out of them. Created by former Shin Megami Tensei developers, this one is perfect for those who enjoy diving deeply into combat systems.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
![]()
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is what happens when legendary anime maker Studio Ghibli teams up with the studio that created the epic turn-based JRPG Jeanne D'arc. Both Wrath of the White Witch and Revenant Kingdom are available on Switch, but we picked the first in the series as the best place to start. Ni No Kuni has an interesting battle system unlike the others on this list, it's not just because it mixes turn-based and action combat.
Ni No Kuni's combat features beastly familiars, and magical characters; think about it like if Pokémon let the trainers join in the scrap. If you like the taming and training aspect of beastly battlers then this is another one you should try. Above all Ni No Kuni overwhelms players with its charm, and is a must play turn-based title.
The Caligula Effect: Overdose
![]()
Written by Tadashi Satomi, best known for working on the original Persona series, The Caligula Effect: Overdose follows a group of people who have realized that they are living in the Matrix. Despite knowing that the world they inhabit is fake, there is no way to escape. First, they must take down the Ostinato Musicians, a group of people who want to keep the idyllic world alive.
Overdose adds a lot to the story beyond the original The Caligula Effect, including new party members and chapters that you can play from the point of view of the Musicians. You grow closer to your teammates, and learn more about their lives both inside and outside of the world you can currently see. The Caligula Effect: Overdose has an active turn-based system where timing and sequencing play a major role in your success or failure. It can be difficult, but once you master it, it's very satisfying.

Marimo Craft will release Pokemon PokePeace mugs in Japan starting in late March 2025. The mugs depict the Pokemon's face, and you can get one of Pikachu, Rowlet, or Piplup.
Each mug costs 2,420 JPY ($16.20), and it will come in a cute box depicting the mug in question so you can gift it to someone if you like. As a note, don't put it in the microwave or the dishwasher. Each mug can hold about 390 mL of liquid, and the dimensions are W115 x H80 x D85 mm. The front shows the Pokemon's face, which juts out a little to give a 3D impression. Meanwhile, the back of it shows the PokePeace logo, with sparkles around it in the color of the Pokemon in question.
PokePeace, or Pokemon Peaceful Place, focuses on a group of cute Pokemon who all live together in the same house with their humans. Other Pokemon in this franchise include Scorbunny and Pichu. Aside from goods, you can also check out the comic on the official website. The comics don't have any real dialogue, so people can enjoy them regardless of Japanese proficiency.
The newest game in the Pokemon series will be Pokemon Legends: Z-A. It will come out for the Nintendo Switch in Fall 2025.

Square Enix regularly releases videos of music from its various soundtrack albums on YouTube in various forms, and its latest is "1 hour of Calm Music - Final Fantasy x Piano Collection Vol. 2 w/SE." It dropped the video, which actually is just over 56 minutes long, on its official channel on March 18, 2025. It pulls tracks from the Piano Collection albums with covers from mainline entries.
While the account didn't list exactly which tracks appear in the video, the image projected on the sheet beside the campfire in the footage does highlight which album the song is pulled from. So the very first song in the latest Square Enix Music video comes from Piano Collections Final Fantasy X. That's followed by music from the Final Fantasy VII album in that series. The third featured album is based on the Final Fantasy XIII soundtrack. From there, Piano Collections Final Fantasy VI, Piano Collections Final Fantasy IV, Piano Collections Final Fantasy XV, Piano Collections Final Fantasy XIV, and Piano Collections Final Fantasy XII show up. It wraps up with selections from Final Fantasy XI, IX, Crystal Chronicles, V, and VIII. While music plays, the Moogle and Chocobo mascots will visit and stop by.
Here's the full "1 hour of Calm Music - Final Fantasy x Piano Collection Vol. 2 w/SE."
This is the second video in this series to appear. The first launched in October 2023. That also featured tracks from the various Piano Collections albums. However, it was a bit more organized, as the YouTube video actually listed every song and included timestamp links to jump to ones someone might want to hear. It was also a bit longer, as it lasted about 91 minutes.
You can catch up with those songs below:
The most recent piano cover album launched in January 2025. Crystalline Resonance - Final Fantasy Piano Collection debuted at the start of the year. It focused on songs recorded during concert performances.

FromSoftware and Sony Interactive Entertainment have added the PS1-era Armored Core trilogy for PlayStation 5 and 4. The former also announced that people who do not have a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription (or Deluxe in Southeast Asia) can also purchase the classic Armored Core games separately. [Thanks, Inside Games!]
The first Armored Core, Project Phantasma, and Master of Arena have appeared on the Japanese PlayStation Store with the same individual price tag of ¥1,100. We have also spotted the same games on the European and Southeast Asian storefronts at £7.99 and SG$13.14 respectively. As of this writing, Sony Interactive Entertainment is gradually adding the classic games on the US storefront at $9.99 apiece. We can therefore confirm that the non-subscription purchases are available worldwide.
For the record, the first Armored Core appeared on the PlayStation in Japan in July 1997, with its prequel Project Phantasma following suit in December 1997. Master of Arena was the last PS1 game released in 1999 before FromSoftware moved on to the PS2. In the series' whole chronology, the studio also put the Armored Core 2 sub-series in the same ED timeline as the PS1-era games.
The first Armored Core, along with the two other PS1 games Project Phantasma and Master of Arena, are now available on PlayStation 5 and 4 worldwide.

A Gintama and Sanrio collaboration pop-up store will open up in Japan throughout April and May 2025 and feature merchandise pairing up characters with mascots. The official Gintama PR social media account also uploaded the key visual, which shows all of the the combos between the anime's stars and mascots for this crossover.
First, here's the official announcement that shows all of the characters together.
From April 16-29, 2025, you can find it in the event space by the southern exit of Ikebukuro station in Tokyo. Then, from May 16-25, 2025, the store will appear on the fourth floor of the Lucbus in Osaka. The store will open from 10am to 9pm JST, and only those with a ticket can enter during the first three days. You can apply for those tickets via lottery on the official site.
As for the character and mascot combos for the Gintama and Sanrio merchandise collaboration, we will see:
Like other Sanrio crossovers, the mascots are wearing outfits like their character counterparts, while the characters have a little badge that matches their mascot. Katsura and Tuxedosam are the exception, as Tuxedosam is wearing an Elizabeth hat and holding up a placard instead of dressing like Katsura. Other character and mascot pairs appear in the goods as well, such as Yamazaki with Pekkle and Bansai with Hangyodon.
Merchandise you can get ranges from can badges (550 JPY each) to acrylic plates (1815 JPY each) to tapestries on standees (1760 JPY each). Almost all the items depict a character with their mascot, with only the clear file and B2 tapestry having the ensemble cast from the key visual. You can see all the items via the special website for this pop-up store.
The Gintama and Sanrio pop-up store will appear in Japan from April to May 2025. The Gintama anime is streaming on Crunchyroll, and Viz Media handles the manga.

Good Smile Company announced it is now taking orders for its first Nendoroid Plamo model kit, which allows someone to build a Hatsune Miku figure that looks like a smaller take on a Nendoroid. When finished, it ends up being about half the size of a standard one. It costs ¥2,650/$21.99, and it is expected to ship in August 2025 in Japan and early 2026 worldwide.
So a Nendoroid figure is typically 100mm, which is just under four inches, and the Nendoroid Plamo model kit will build items that are 50mm (about two inches) tall. Unlike a Nendoroid, they will not come with additional face parts. They also will only come with one pair of hands. However, there will be some minor articulation, as the photos of this first one show someone will be able to turn Miku's head, move her arms, adjust her twintail pigtail positions, and twist her hands at the wrist.
This will also be a simple style Hatsune Miku model kit. The initial photos show the five sprues, which hold 26 parts used to build the character. The ones with the face plate and torso top have pre-painted elements. The product page also confirmed there will be stickers for other accents. No glue is needed, but nippers are recommended to safely remove parts from the sprues.
Here's a closer look at how the kit will look when it arrives.

This comes as Good Smile Company prepares to hit a milestone when it comes to Hatsune Miku figures. It is working on a 100th Nendoroid of the Vocaloid.
The Hatsune Miku Nendoroid Plamo model kit will ship in August 2025 in Japan and Q1 2026 worldwide. Pre-orders are open through Good Smile Company until May 7, 2025.

Skills in Ghoul://Re are equally important both early and late into the game, and without them, you can only rely on your M1s until you get a Kagune or a Quinque. However, unlocking them requires quite a bit of effort. So, to help you unlock all of the best skills out there, we have prepared the following Ghoul://Re skill tree guide.
Table of Contents
What is the Skill Tree in Ghoul://RE
![]()
The skill tree in Ghoul://Re lets you unlock special active and passive abilities that are usable even without a Kagune or a Quinque. To unlock a skill, you have to invest points into a specific tree line. Then, press the "Learn" button once you meet the skill's requirements to unlock it. Learned skills will appear on your hotbar, and you can "rebind" them whenever you want.
How to Get Skill Points in Ghoul://RE
![]()
Gettings skill points in Ghoul://Re is no easy task. Except for the 10 SPs you get from completing the tutorial, your only way of obtaining more skill points is by ranking up. Now, to rank up, you will have to meet specific requirements, which differ depending on whether you decide to become a Ghoul or a Quinque. There are 10 ranks you can climb through, so the maximum amount of skill points you can earn is 50.
How to Reset the Skill Tree
![]()
If you want to respec your skill tree, you can do that at any point through the Shop menu (Cart icon in upper-left corner). However, keep in mind that neither of these options is free. Resetting your skill Tree costs 10 Ghoul Points or 100 Robux. If you want to save up both of these resources for the more important stuff in Ghoul://Re, then check out the meta skill tree setup further in the guide.
Ghoul://RE Skills
In total, there are 20 skills you can learn in Ghoul://Re. You can separate them into four skill groups based on the stat needed to unlock them. Those skill groups are Strength, Dexterity, Quinque Mastery, and Ghoul Mastery. Because you don't need 50 skill Points to unlock all skills in a single group, you should diversify your SP investments.
Strength Skills
Dexterity Skills
Quinque Mastery Skills
Ghoul Mastery Skills
Meta Skill Tree Ghoul://Re Setup
The current meta skill Tree setup in Ghoul://Re is simple: level up Mastery until you unlock all of the available skills, and then spend the remaining SP on Strength. Mastery skills are the way to go because of how well they synergize with the rest of your abilities.
Dexterity, even though it does offer a variety of powerful moves, is just not worth investing in. Specifically, the last two Dexterity skills require too much SP to learn. Also, if you spend 32/33 SP to get all of the Quinque/Ghoul skills, you will be able to learn only three Strength or Dexterity skills. In general, the first three Strength skills are just better than their Dexterity counterparts.
That does it for our Ghoul://Re skill tree guide. If you want to check out more of our content on the same Roblox title, then make sure to read our Ghoul://Re beginners guide and weapons tier list.

One of the best features of the Road to the Show mode in MLB The Show 25 is the ability to get traded and play for a team you like.
When you get started on your journey, it's not always possible to play for the team you want. Things are a lot more difficult at the start, and it's all about growing your in-game skills and attributes. However, you'll have much more chances of being drafted to a team you like by following some simple methods.
Best tips and tricks to get traded in MLB The Show 25
There are two main methods of increasing the chances of getting a trade offer in Road to the Show.
Just like in real life, your performance inside the game matters. The idea is to perform brilliantly in your position, which will attract the interest of the agents. They, in turn, will bring trade offers from teams who will be interested in your services.
![]()
As your stats improve, you'll also perform better in your position. Better performances will draw more attention from the agents, but this method is for those who can choose to be patient. Again, the first few offers you get might not be from a team you want to play for. If that's the case, your wait is going to be longer. To avoid this problem, you can take a shortcut (although, it has always felt like cheating from a personal point of view).
It's worth noting that getting more trade offers might not again mean that you get the chance to play for a team you want. However, the odds will be in your favor, thanks to the higher number of offers you get. There have been incidents where some players have reported getting too many offers, so it's something you should keep in mind.
Ultimately, getting traded in Road to the Show is pretty easy; the variable factors are how many offers you can get, and if they are from a team you'd love to join in MLB The Show 25.

Fortnite's Kneecapper baseball bat is one of the most powerful melee weapons ever introduced. With solid damage per second and a charged smash that can send people flying off high ledges, it can singlehandedly carry a game. Here's everything you need to know about Fortnite's Kneecapper weapon.
Where to find the Kneecapper in Fortnite
Your best bet for obtaining the Kneecapper is to open Rare Chests around Fortnite's map or Go-Bags introduced in Chapter 6, Season 2. These have much higher odds of dropping epic-tier weapons and higher than regular treasure chests and floor drops, especially if you open rare chests inside Fletcher Kane's bank vaults.
![]()
The Kneecapper can also spawn in regular treasure chests, on the ground, and as player elimination drops. While it doesn't appear as often from these sources, you can still get lucky and encounter it. Targeting a player you notice using a Kneecapper will guarantee the drop, giving you a quick and easy way to grab this weapon and use it for the rest of the match.
How to use the Kneecapper in Fortnite
Fortnite's Kneecapper weapon attacks using regular swings and a charged smash. Its regular attacks are fast, hard-hitting swings that inflict around 20 damage points per hit, while the charged smash deals knockback to whoever you hit.
The main purpose of the Kneecapper is to deal quick damage before your enemy has a chance to fight back. It has no traversal abilities like the Sub-Zero Combat Kit or increased damage against vault doors like the Rocket Drill. In most cases, it's all about rushing your opponent and hitting them before they can run away and shoot at you.
Its real strength, though, comes from its charged smash. Alongside doing much more damage, its knockback can send your opponent flying off buildings, cliffs, and structures if you play build mode. If you angle your attack right, you can even send them off into the storm. What would generally be an already hefty hit can quickly turn into a one-shot strike, depending on the situation. If you get your hands on a Kneecapper, scaling a mountain or building and knocking your enemies away is the way to go.

Blizzard has announced the patch notes for the Midseason update for Overwatch 2 Season 15. It includes a lot of new content, including a new hero, Freja.
While Freja is the headline of the midseason update, there's more waiting for you in the form of the LE SSERAFIM collab, which has its exclusive set of cosmetic items. To test out the new hero and cosmetics, you'll also get new game modes, and there's something special waiting for the veterans.
Overwatch 2 Season 15 Freja overview
Freja will be the latest addition to the list of available DPS characters, and she will be an excellent choice for those who love to do precise damage. Her signature is the Revdraw Crossbow, which fires explosive bolts. Her Take Aim ability will do precise offence with damage spikes, while Quick Dash and Updraft provide the mobility required to survive.
Freja can also fire a bola, which will lock enemies in a place, and it's a significant debuff that can turn the tide of a battle. You can try her this weekend; she will be available from March 21 to March 24.
Overwatch 2 Season 15 LE SSERAFIM collab
![]()
The upcoming collab will feature five Legendary skins, a must-have collection for fans of LE SSERAFIM and Overwatch 2 players.
All Overwatch 2 Season 15 midseason update game modes
Starting on March 18, you'll again enjoy one of Overwatch's iconic formats as the 6v6 Open Queue is back. This mode will temporarily replace the 5v5 Open Queue, so make sure to bring your A-game to dominate the battlefield.
There's more in the form of Overwatch Classic: GOATS, where you'll have to play in teams of 3 tanks and 3 supports. The mode will be all about chaining combos and landing them at the perfect time to do insane amounts of damage, which was almost an evergreen meta back in the Overwatch era. The feature to play without a single DPS in your team (or that of your opponents) will force everyone to think out of the box.
![]()
April 1 - April 14 will feature the Normalwatch event, and all heroes will have googly eyes, bizarre kit changes, mechanics, and more. This mode will be all about fun and action; you can grind your way to exclusive rewards like the Rainy Duck Orisa skin.
Those who love a competition will get the Competitive Drives available from April 15 to April 21. The objective is to win as many matches as possible, lock in your progress with the help of checkpoints, and claim the Season 15 Signature. You can also team up to earn bonus scores, and there's an exclusive Prestige upgrade to unlock once you have conquered all the drives.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is about to release on March 20, and its pre-sales have already pushed it into the top five on Steam's global top sellers list.
As of March 18, Steam's Global Top Sellers list ranks Assassin's Creed Shadows in second place, just behind Counter-Strike 2. Even though CS2 is a free game, it appears on the list because Steam ranks games based on total revenue, which includes in-game transactions. Since CS2 and other free-to-play titles generate massive sales through microtransactions, their spots on the list reflect overall earnings rather than just game purchases.
With AC Shadows reviews now out, confirming that the game is a solid Assassin's Creed title but not groundbreaking, it has still managed to overtake a major Steam hit before its official release.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is outselling Split Fiction
Split Fiction, the co-op game that became a global top seller after launching on March 6, has now been pushed down from its previous third place on Steam's Global Top Sellers list by Assassin's Creed Shadows on March 18.
Split Fiction had been topping the UK charts and even outselling the Steam Deck in recent weeks. Now, AC Shadows has taken its place and is selling more than Valve's portable console.
Among the other major titles AC Shadows is outselling are Monster Hunter Wilds and several AAA games that are heavily discounted during Steam's Spring Sale, including Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and Baldur's Gate 3.
AC Shadows faces tough competition in Japan, where the game is set
Since AC Shadows takes place in Japan, its portrayal of the country's feudal era has sparked controversy. Despite this, the game was one of the top-selling titles on Amazon Japan leading up to its release.
However, with the launch and positive reviews of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch, AC Shadows' sales in Japan have dropped, with Xenoblade now taking the top spot.
Our Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition review scored the game 10/10, praising how it "modernizes and adds new content while keeping the original experience intact." This explains why so many players in Japan are now choosing to buy Xenoblade Chronicles X over AC Shadows.

In just a couple of days, we might finally know more about what actually happened between Ekko and Jinx during the final episodes of Arcane Season 2. More specifically, it looks like we're getting an official music video for the popular Ekko and Jinx/Powdered-influenced song Ma Meilleure Ennemie.
According to the YouTube listing on the official League of Legends channel, the official music video for "Ma Meilleure Ennemie" by Stromae and Pomme will premiere on March 20 at 12 pm EST. The teaser image for the premiere shows Ekko and Jinx, the latter of whom is rocking her shorter hair, which has fans thinking the footage from the upcoming video will contain scenes depicting what happened between Ekko and Jinx in the final episodes of the finale season.
I'm not sure what you've been up to if you've yet to watch Arcane Season 2, but just in case, spoilers for the show below!
In Season 2, Episode 7 of Arcane, Ekko finds himself in a parallel universe where things are very different: Vander and Silco are still friends, Mylo, Claggor, and Benzo are still alive; and the events that led to Powder becoming Jinx never happen. In his time there, Ekko falls in love with Powder, but in the end makes the decision to sacrifice his love for her to head back to his own universe.
The next time we see Timebomb—the fan-created name for the duo—is in the Arcane series finale, where something has clearly transpired between Ekko and Jinx. But we never see what happened, nor is it even explored. According to Arcane writer Amanda Overton, the team deliberately left what happened to the audience's imagination.
We've learned since the finale aired that scenes were cut from Arcane due to budgetary and episode time constraints, which fans believe we could be seeing in the "Ma Meilleure Ennemie" music video. This wouldn't be the first time Arcane detailed major plot-related elements in a music video, which certainly isn't an ideal. But for an epic show most fans agree we simply wish we had more of, we'll take anything we can get.
The Arcane "Ma Meilleure Ennemie" music video premieres on YouTube on March 20 at 12 pm EST.

If there's one lesson R.E.P.O players will learn very quickly, it's how a good weapon makes a huge difference when tackling enemies. The early game mainly involves running away and collecting loot, while later levels let you have fun with items you've bought.
One such item is the Shotgun, a powerful gun that can one-shot most monsters and eliminate tougher ones with enough shots and accuracy. But it's not as easy to wield as you'd think, especially if you've never used one. Here's how to obtain and use a shotgun in R.E.P.O.
Table of contents
Where to find the Shotgun in R.E.P.O.
You can randomly encounter the Shotgun in R.E.P.O. in the item shop after completing a level. It costs anywhere between $80,000 to $98,000, making it one of the most expensive items in the game. You'll usually spot it on the product shelf in the center of the store, but you may occasionally see it on the floor if someone accidentally knocks it over.
![]()
If you don't see a Shotgun in the shop right away, you'll have to complete another level and recheck until you spot one. I found my first Shotgun during round three, but you may find it earlier or later, depending on the seed. After spotting a Shotgun, toss it onto the purchasing platform and press the big red button to own it for the rest of your save.
How to use the Shotgun in R.E.P.O
Like other guns in R.E.P.O., the Shotgun requires picking it up like you would any other item, carefully aiming it in front of you, and pressing E to shoot it. Rather than shooting in the direction you're facing, though, it'll fire wherever its tip is pointing. In short, even if you're looking forward, it can shoot to the side if your hands are shaky or you get startled by a monster.
Is the Shotgun good in R.E.P.O.?
The shotgun's strength greatly depends on your ability to wield it without becoming overwhelmed by enemies. It's a close-range weapon, so you'll need the courage to run up to a monster and steady your hands enough to land the shot. Missing can easily lead to your character's demise, especially if it needs to recharge after.
It's also much more expensive than most items in R.E.P.O, making it difficult to save up enough money to use it. You're usually better off buying Energy Crystals or health. But if you're far into your playthrough and have extra money saved up, the Shotgun can help you out a lot.
The upside is it can easily one-shot most enemies in the game if you land a point-blank hit. Although R.E.P.O.'s monsters eventually respawn, killing them still gives you time to collect more items without worrying as much about unexpected attacks. You can also use weapons like the tranq gun to stun enemies, making it much easier to eliminate them and move on.

This is a perfect CB card to use, and it also offers 5* Skills/Weak Foot. You simply can't ask for more for about 150,000 coins worth of fodder.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is just around the corner, releasing on March 20, and reviews are already in.
There was a lot of speculation leading up to Assassin's Creed Shadows release, especially regarding Ubisoft's depiction of Japanese culture in early trailers. But the same way this controversy didn't have much impact on the AC Shadows sales, it didn't affect its reviews.
Critics who had early access have focused more on how the gameplay develops and how the story—fictional or not—fits into the game world and adds to the overall experience. Here's what reviews are saying and how fans had already predicted the outcome.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is an 8 out of 10, on average
As of March 18, Assassin's Creed Shadows has review scores in the low 80s on Metacritic, with the PC version scoring the lowest at 79 and the Xbox version the highest at 86. The pattern is similar on OpenCritic, where the game has an 81 average score and an 84-percent critic recommendation.
Most reviews focus on the same key points. They highlight how Assassin's Creed Shadows improves gameplay, especially stealth mechanics, compared to previous titles, but also criticize the weak story and uninteresting narrative choices.
So, while an average score around 80 means the game is good, it's not considered a masterpiece or one of the best in the series. Assassin's Creed 2 continues being the highest-rated game in the series on Metacritic with a score of 90.
Assassin's Creed fans expected this review score
Interestingly, days before reviews came out, fans had already predicted the game's scores.
In Reddit threads leading up to launch, players speculated that the game would land in the 7/10 to 8/10 range, with some outlets occasionally giving it a 9/10. Some predictions were extremely accurate, with players guessing the score would land between 80 and 85, which turned out to be close to the final result.
So, what can we take away from all this? Assassin's Creed Shadows is a good Assassin's Creed game—nothing more, nothing less. It delivers exactly what you'd expect from an Assassin's Creed title, without doing much to push the series to the next level.
Destructoid's Assassin's Creed Shadows review will be ready in the coming days.
