The Covid-19 pandemic has hit the Japanese arcade industry hard. With the country closed off to tourism, it might only seem like big city arcades are the ones that are hurting the most. That's simply not the case.

Red Dead Online finally gets limited-time clothing options again

While heists and showdowns may come to mind when thinking of Red Dead Online, one thing that players actually love is fashion. There's a whole subreddit dedicated to discussing the best looks of the moment and showing off outfits fans have thrown together. That's why the return of limited-time clothing immediately caught my eye when Rockstar Games released this week's Red Dead Online update post.

The last time we got limited-time clothing items in Rockstar's Western game was before the Blood Money update, which was roughly six months ago. The selection of temporary stock is a good chance to nab a unique piece for your outfit, so you can imagine why players are keen to see it return.

While limited-time clothes are back, you've only got the option of four items and one outfit. This time around you've got the option of the Racoon Hat, Fanned Stovepipe Hat, Furred Gloves, Pelt Half Chaps, and the Tasman Outfit. It remains to be seen if Rockstar will refresh the offering with different duds.

The Sims 4's next update lets you meddle in your neighbours' lives

The Sims 4 gets a new feature next week that'll give your player-controlled sims far greater control over the happenings of the folks in and around their neighbourhood. Called Neighbourhood Stories, the update hinges on one core idea: to "bring more life to neighbour sims that live outside the active household". This doesn't just add more layers of autonomy to those sims, though - it lets your active characters play a pretty big role in influencing exactly what they do.

"Neighbourhood Stories begins with gameplay divided between life changes that your sims can influence neighbour sims to consider, things neighbour sims autonomously consider, and some that fall into both categories," EA explains in a dev post.

Essentially, neighbour sims will decide to make big life changes themselves without you needing to switch to their household - and this can happen in two different ways. You can "direct" one of your active sims to "influence" a neighbour sim to ponder making a life change, for example. So, essentially, you can go meddle to your heart's content. If you reckon that random pal you met not too long ago should go have a baby then, well, you can tell them so.

The best Battlefield 2042 PBX-45 loadout

Looking for the best Battlefield 2042 PBX-45 loadout? The PBX-45 is the first SMG available in the game, and it's an excellent choice for players who prefer a more aggressive playstyle, seeking out short and mid-range engagements.

In comparison to the powerful PP-29, the PBX-45 has a higher handling rating and a faster rate of fire, though its range isn't quite as potent. The PBX-45's range is still good, and it's easy to manage the weapon's recoil, though there's some horizontal recoil at mid range to be aware of - fortunately, with the right attachments, you can reduce this significantly.

You can swap attachments on your Battlefield 2042 weapons mid-match, which is particularly helpful for the PBX-45 as you move between short and mid-range fights. For example, before entering a building, you should swap to the Close Combat magazine for improved fire rate and reload speed. It's also useful to experiment with different sights to suit your situation and positioning as you figure out your personal preference. Here's the best Battlefield 2042 PBX-45 loadout and attachments.

SFV's Luke will be a key player in the next Street Fighter project

Capcom is teasing another Street Fighter project, and new brawler Luke is going to be a big part of it. While the main thrust of the recent fall update video (below) is the American mixed martial artist, the developers couldn't help but offer some glimpses into the future of the series.

"Luke is an important character who will be featured in the next Street Fighter project, so we hope you try him out when he's released in Street Fighter V," producer Shuhei Matsumoto says. Series director Takayuki Nakayama, meanwhile, delves a bit deeper, saying: "For us, Street Fighter V has been a project with peaks and valleys, but thanks to our fans, we've been able to accomplish what we aimed for. We, the development team, will use this experience as a springboard to move on to the next project."

Matsumoto goes on to say that, "while this is the end of this digital showcase series for Street Fighter V, this is more of a 'see you soon' rather than a 'goodbye,'" and that the team looks forward "to providing you more information next year".

Nvidia's RTX 2060 could make a gaming PC comeback early next month

Word of an Nvidia RTX 3000 series second-wind has dominated the graphics card grapevine for a while now, and the RTX 4070, RTX 4080, and RTX 4090 could be with us in 2022. Yet, before any of that, a new leak suggests the rumoured RTX 2060 refresh could arrive early next month.

Spotted by Overlocking, the now-deleted Bilibili post says a revitalised RTX 2060 could arrive on December 7. According to previous reports, the new GPU will come with a 12GB GDDR6 memory bump, while retaining its original PG161 board and TU106 silicon. Information relayed by the reliable leaker Momomo_us also suggests that standard and overclocked versions of the card by Gigabyte and Windforce could be on the way.

While the original RTX 2060 comes close to the performance of an RTX 3050, the new SKU's VRAM increase could enable it to play modern games at respectable resolutions, especially with tools like Nvidia DLSS enabled. Naturally, the prospect of overclocking also means the card could potentially hold its own against the RTX 3060, but as always, benchmarking could tell a different story.

Steam autumn sale start time – here's when the discounts drop

The Steam autumn sale is almost upon us, so get those wallets and purses at the ready. Valve already confirmed the remaining 2021 Steam sale dates, but it wasn't clear until now exactly when the next big batch of discounts would arrive.

Handily, SteamDB has the answer. The database site has confirmed when Steam should be throwing open the doors to its next big quarterly sale on Twitter, and it's just a few hours away as of writing. The Steam autumn sale start time is 10am PST / 1pm EST / 6pm GMT on November 24. As we already know, the sale will run until November 30, so you'll have the better part of a week to grab the games and goodies you're set on for less. There's also a handy countdown timer here if you're keen to keep your beady eyes fixed on that today.

It's not clear just yet what'll be featured in the Steam autumn sale, as we won't see the spread until the event goes live on the platform. We do know from previous years and seasonal sales, though, that we can expect to see a really wide range of the best PC games discounted.

AMD FSR upscaling joins Nvidia DLSS as an official Unreal Engine plugin

Upscaling technologies like AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS are a quick and easy way to boost fps in the best PC games, without losing much in the way of image quality. However, both require time and knowledge from game developers to implement into their titles. Thankfully, AMD hopes to make this a more simple and less time-consuming affair with the release of its official AMD FSR plugin for Epic's Unreal Engine.

The announcement comes from an article on AMD's GPUOpen site (via Videocardz), the same page from which the plugin can be downloaded. The company's provided some clear instructions on how to install the plugin, but anyone looking to use it should take note that it's intended to be used with Unreal Engine 4.27.1 and later, and it isn't currently supported on Unreal Engine 5.

Marrying FSR with Unreal Engine allows for what AMD is calling 'Hybrid Upscaling', by which the engine's temporal anti-aliasing solution will act as the primary upscaler but "FSR can still be used as a Secondary Upscaler to meet project-specific needs."

Mass Effect's Normandy SR1 and past Expeditions return to No Man's Sky for a limited time

It seems No Man's Sky's Expeditions - shared, seasonal events based on exploring the game's vast universe and completing challenges - have proved a hit with the space game's fanbase. Being seasonal, though, each Expedition is only available for a certain window of time before the next comes along - but Hello Games is now giving players who might have missed out on the fun another chance to dive into previous events, and that includes the opportunity to nab some missed rewards.

"We have always wanted starting a new Expedition to be an exciting refresher, a way for experienced players to find a new perspective on No Man's Sky, or for new players to find a part of the universe they hadn't yet experienced," Hello says in a press release. "But this very busy year, and the limited-time nature of the Expeditions, has meant that it has been difficult for some people to participate in them."

Starting on November 24, Hello Games is kicking off a re-run of existing Expeditions, starting with 'Pioneers', which runs until December 7. The second, 'Beachhead', follows (December 8 to 21) and this is a special one, as players will get the chance to grab the legendary SSV Normandy SR-1 from Mass Effect once again.

Six new ways to play Civilization 6

Earlier this year, Civilization VI players bade farewell to the 4X game's New Frontier Pass and its promise of continuous updates. There haven't been any further patches since Firaxis released a sweeping balance pass in April. Without the excitement of new Civ 6 leaders and game modes, nor any certainty around further patch support, veteran players may be running low on ways to keep the fun alive in their favourite strategy game.

Fortunately, there's no right way to Civ (except maybe don't lose). From meme strats to trying to plan out the perfect Panama Canal or generating those disgusting tile yields, there are plenty of ways you can challenge yourself when launching a game of Civ VI. The only limit is your imagination, although even that needs a hand every once in a while, which is where we come in.

As Civ fans await updates on the franchise's future (and dream about what they'd like to see in Civilization 7), there's plenty of time to explore new ways to play and win Civilization VI.

New World devs are improving the early and mid-game for solo players

Amazon Games is working on new content to make New World's early to mid-game more enjoyable, particularly for solo players. In a recent interview with PCGamesN, game director Scot Lane points to the MMORPG's earlier stages and endgame when asked what areas of PvP and PvE the team has identified as underdeveloped.

"We know we have some work to do to improve the experience in the early-mid game (especially for solo players) and have already begun working on content to improve that experience," he tells us. "Our goal is to keep responding to what players ask for, and feedback from players will continue to help shape New World's direction."

As for what these kind of improvements could look like, Lane points to the recent introduction of the Varangian Raiders. The new gang of foes was added in the recent Into The Void update, with story-led quests giving you a sense of who they are. "So far, only a few Varangian camps have shown up in the player-inhabited parts of Aeternum, but all indications are that we'll be seeing more of them," he tells us.

     Crusader Kings 3 DLC guide

So, you want to know about CK3 DLC? Crusader Kings III is the critically-acclaimed successor to Crusader Kings 2, the grand strategy game that catapulted this niche sub-genre of strategy games into the mainstream. For nearly ten years, gamers across the world delighted in murdering and/or seducing their way across medieval Europe, and if you read our Crusader Kings III review, you'll see that the newest iteration is just as great.

But one of the reasons why CK2 was so good is that it got a lot of DLC support. And we mean a lot - just look at how much CK2 DLC there is. All of the grand strategy games that released since have followed similar models of post-release expansions, although perhaps only EU4 has put out as many packs as CK2 has. Regardless, CK3 DLC will be a thing, and if it's a thing, it must have a guide.

We're not far from the one year mark of Crusader Kings III's release, so naturally there's not much DLC to go around. In fact the first DLC pack - Northern Lords - only released in March. It's one of three packs we're expecting in the initial expansion pass (two minor, one major), but we don't have a timetable for the rest of it right now. As such, this guide will be brief to start with, but we'll keep it updated as we go along.

What is the current and next Genshin Impact banner?

Wondering what the next Genshin Impact banner is? Genshin Impact banners adhere to a pretty regular schedule. Each update arrives with a new banner that lasts around three weeks, and after it expires, it's followed by a second banner which also lasts roughly three weeks, at which point it's update time once again.

This means even though we hear rumours of new Genshin Impact characters arriving in forthcoming updates, we won't know their exact release date until we know which banner they will be a part of, and whether it'll be the first or second banner in the update. Occasionally, banners don't stick to this schedule - most notably, update 1.3 had three two-week banners, so that Hu Tao's banner didn't cross over with the Chinese New Year.

Typically, each limited character banner - or Event Wish - contains a five-star character, and three four-star characters. There's also a Weapon banner - Epitome Invocation - which runs alongside each character banner, and features different weapons each time. Here's everything you need to know about the current and upcoming Genshin Impact banners.

League of Legends patch 11.24 notes – Debonair skins, Varus VFX update, Challenges

This is it, LoL fans - the final patch of the 2021 League of Legends patch cycle has come to the PBE for its fortnight of testing and tinkering. League of Legends patch 11.23 has made the leap from the testing grounds, bringing a round of Café Cuties skins for Annie, Soraka, Vladimir, Gwen, Bard, and Sivir, as well as all the Preseason 2022 changes to the live MOBA game. Now, it's 11.24's turn - so let's dig in.

First up, as usual we've got a brand-new batch of skins coming with the new update. This patch it's an emerald-hued range of Debonair skins for champions Brand, Draven, LeBlanc, Leona, Malzahar, Master Yi, and Zed, which brings them into the murky depths of the mobster-run Valoran City, as part of the Crime City Nightmare alternate universe. Lucky Brand even gets a Prestige Edition. You can check out the splash art and in-game previews for these shiny new styles in the New Champion Skins section in the patch notes below.

As is often the case when a brand-new patch hits the PBE, we don't have any coming balance changes to check out as yet, but it's possible some could arrive for a round of testing in the next week or so, so do keep checking back on these notes - we'll post everything you need to know right here.

Monster Hunter Rise system requirements should make easy gaming PC prey

In their Monster Hunter Rise review, our friends over at Pocket Tactics describe the game as "the best Monster Hunter on the market", and we can't wait for the hunt to commence on PC. It won't be long before the Monster Hunter Rise release date is upon us, so it's best to make like any good hunter and make sure your gaming PC is equipped and prepared to deal with the game's monsters well in advance.

Despite starting out as a Nintendo Switch title, the Monster Hunter Rise system requirements are slightly more demanding than 2018's Monster Hunter: World. You can already get a feel for how the game will perform with your current rig by playing its demo on Steam. However, this likely won't be entirely reflective of the title's performance upon its full release.

One thing we know for certain is that Monster Hunter Rise won't feature cross-play or cross-save, so you won't be able to bring your progress over from Nintendo Switch or vice versa, unfortunately.

Bad news, deals friends. If you were hoping to pick up a sweet Black Friday deal on the Oculus Quest 2 this year, then you're probably going to be disappointed. Oculus have just announced their official Black Friday deals for their standalone VR headset, and all you're going to get is a £50 / $50 voucher to spend on today's best VR games rather than a discount on the headset itself. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent amount to kickstart your VR library, but the credit voucher also has some niggly conditions attached to it that make it a lot less satisfying than a simple £50 / $50 discount off the regular headset price.

I've always seen The Sims series as the ultimate life-meddling games. It's one of those, well, sims, where it's all too tempting to recreate friends and family you know in real life and send them on a path you've chosen. Right now in The Sims 4, players are limited to making life choices for these Sims they've created, doomed to watch Neighbour Sims do their own thing. WD - or, Western Digital - have been on a crusade to rival Samsung's computer bits for a while now, and may have finally achieved it with this SSD. In layman's terms, it will kick your computer into super speed, running games and operating system super fast and quick like. This particular SSD supports the PCle 4.0 standard, allowing for much faster read and write speeds than the older 3.0 interface. As Katharine found in her WD SN850 review, this drive is also both faster and cheaper than its big PCIe 4.0 rival, the Samsung 980 Pro.
