Kotaku Wednesday, November 24, 2021 9:05 PM Sometimes, sports video games need to change their covers just before they're released. It's happened with FIFA and PES, it's happened with Madden, it's happened to NBA 2K. It's now also happening with Cricket 22, but for slightly more scandalous reasons. |
Kotaku Wednesday, November 24, 2021 8:25 PM Photorealistic faces in video games have been with us for a while, but they've still been a long way from what you'd call realistic, as while we've got the polygons and texturing almost perfected, facial animations remain are still stuck in the depths of the uncanny valley. |
Kotaku Wednesday, November 24, 2021 4:00 PM For a long time, I ignorantly assumed that anthro art was...unserious. Anime catgirls and dog boys generally seem pretty upbeat, drawn with bright colors and cheerful expressions. I'd never encountered a furry story with riveting character arcs, having only ever accidentally stumbled upon decontextualized furry porn… |

PCGamesN Wednesday, November 24, 2021 5:54 PM The Call of Duty: Vanguard Secrets of the Pacific event, part of a crossover with Call of Duty: Warzone meant to gear players up for the launch of the new Caldera battle royale map in Warzone and the start of the new season one, has been put on pause while the developers identify the source of widespread crashes in the FPS game. Secrets of the Pacific went live today, but quickly ran into trouble. Vanguard players reported crashes kicking them out to the home screen. Some reported that the crash appears to happen when someone uses the attack dogs killstreak in multiplayer, but so far Sledgehammer hasn't confirmed this is the source of the bug. Other players have said the crash happens at random times, even when the attack dogs killstreak isn't active. Whatever the case, the developer has disabled the Secrets of the Pacific event, but have said that any challenges you've already completed in the brief time it was available will be unaffected - you'll keep any progress you made when the event returns. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, November 24, 2021 4:01 PM Historical real-time strategy game Age of Empires IV will get a major patch next week, and it'll be adding some of the features fans have been clamoring for the most since its release date earlier this month. In addition to the updates teased in the roadmap published last week, we'll be seeing improvements to the mini-map and some new options for during and after matches. As you might expect, the Age 4 Winter Update will be making some balance changes to the RTS game. The French Hulk ship will be brought down a couple notches to keep it from dominating naval warfare. Cavalry will be more vulnerable to crossbowmen (both standard and elite) and spearmen. The devs have also fixed the Holy Roman Empire's prelate so that it can continue to inspire nearby units even after being pushed a bit. The Mongols are getting an adjustment to the 'superior mobility' trait so that the speed modifier "is appropriately applied" from now on. The developers are also adding some requested UI features, such as placing the Chinese Dynasty button in a less prominent location down in the lower left corner of the screen. You'll also have the option to enable an in-game score screen - the devs say this can impact the say people play, and so it'll be an option you can enable or disable prior to each match. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, November 24, 2021 7:00 PM It's been a long road for Fortnite Chapter 2, but things are finally coming to a close. And soon. The timing for the chapter's long-awaited finale is upon us, bringing with it the end of the Cube Queen and her wicked machinations. Just like most other chapter events, The End is one-and-done. After you play it, it'll go into the vaults of time, ne'er to be seen 'gain. Or a less archaic way of saying that. So grab your favorite guns, a lawn chair, and a bucket of digital popcorn to prepare to get the last act of a desperate cube underway. The End will begin on December 4 at 4 PM ET, which is only about a week and a half away. It marks the last stand of whatever Fortnite players call themselves against the Cube Queen. Fortnite Fighters? Busfolk? The Convergence has been seen through and the Cube Queen is delivering what she assumes to be the final blow. It's up to you and the 15 others in your party to bring the fight to the Sideways. The playlist c... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, November 24, 2021 4:30 PM It's the most wonderful time of the year. Well, for Steam users at least. The Steam Store's 2021 Autumn Sale went live earlier today, bringing discounts on games for Black Friday week. It's chock full of all sorts of deals that are sure to make your wallet quiver in fear. But any deals that you've got your eye on will have to be snatched up pretty quickly since the sale ends on November 30. That isn't a lot of time compared to Steam's usual sale periods that last a couple weeks. Steam sales usually have some kind of theme that gives you a hint of what to expect. For example, the previous Halloween sale had a large focus on horror games. But that's not much good if you don't like scary games, is it? Well, this time, you can find massive discounts on games from all sorts of different genres — from RPGs to sports, fighting games, and even more. No matter what kind of gamer you happen to be, you're sure to find some solid deals here. Some stand-out games we reco... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, November 24, 2021 3:45 PM Last week, Bandai Namco unveiled the latest entry in its licensed Dragon Ball video game catalog, dubbed Dragon Ball: The Breakers. This new game surprised quite a few fans of the Dragon Ball titles, as rather than functioning as another fighting game or RPG, it features asymmetrical online gameplay in which seven survivors have to flee from a rampaging supervillain. As fun as this idea seemed, many still had questions over the specifics of the gameplay, as well as whether or not it would turn out any good. Thankfully, Bandai Namco just offered to provide answers to both of those questions, as they opened up closed beta testing registration and uploaded an extensive new gameplay trailer for Dragon Ball: The Breakers. According to a press release, the closed beta test will take place throughout December 4 and December 5 across four separate four-hour sessions. To have a chance at entering the beta, players will need to sign up for it before November 30 at 2:59 p.m. UTC, and they can ... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, November 24, 2021 3:00 PM Amazon Prime may be adapting the world of Mass Effect to the small screen. A report from Deadline suggested that Amazon is "nearing a deal" to develop a series based on the franchise. This comes after Amazon revealed that another of its shows, The Wheel of Time, had been very well received and is quickly becoming one of its most successful shows of the year. With the next Mass Effect on the horizon, this may be the perfect time for an adaptation of the original trilogy. Looking back through the last few years of adaptations based on beloved source material, this news isn't necessarily surprising. Not only has Amazon Prime successfully adapted popular graphic novel series like The Boys, and the upcoming The Lord of the Rings series, which makes its debut in September 2022. Netflix has also taken a shot at adapting established video game franchises, with both Castlevania and The Witcher performing well enough to score multiple seasons. Is adapting Mass Effect really... |
