PCGamesN Thursday, November 10, 2022 9:50 AM Are you looking for your Modern Warfare 2 KD and player stats? After a few years of not entirely comprehensible menu systems, Infinity Ward has launched MW2 with a UI overhaul that's broadly pretty good and intuitive. However, it currently appears to be missing a few menus that Call of Duty veterans turn to daily: the barracks and challenges tab, which tells you your overall KD and other key player stats. You'll be able to look at your Modern Warfare 2 KD and player stats by viewing Combat Records, which arrives with Modern Warfare 2 in Season 1. Before then, there are several third-party stat trackers that you can use to check outside of the game. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, even though the multiplayer game launched a few weeks ago, these stat trackers aren't currently working, with one of the most notable ones - Call of Duty Tracker - posting on Twitter that it will take a couple of days to get tracking working as they gain access to the Modern Warfare 2 API. PCGamesN Thursday, November 10, 2022 9:46 AM You'll want to know how to unlock the Modern Warfare 2 M13B assault rifle as it's long been regarded as one of the best weapons in both MW 2019 and Warzone 1. Its best attributes are its fast rate of fire and very low recoil, and while it can suffer from damage dropoff over long ranges, a few attachments can make it very effective beyond mid-range combat. The low recoil and fast rate of fire are particularly helpful in Warzone, where the number of shots you can reliably land matters more than any theoretical TTK stats. The M13B is arriving in Modern Warfare 2 as part of the upcoming mid-season update. Unlike the Victus XMR and BAS-P, which can be found in the Modern Warfare 2 battle pass, the M13B requires either in-store purchases or a specific gameplay challenge to unlock. PCGamesN Thursday, November 10, 2022 9:31 AM What is the GTA podium car this week? GTA Online vehicles are expensive things, so we're happy to take a spin on the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel to get a discount. Winning isn't guaranteed, sure, but it isn't out of the question either. Look, we don't have a problem - leave it alone. Finding out what the GTA Online podium car is simple enough - it's winning it that's the challenge. You can spin the Diamond Casino's Lucky Wheel once a day, and each Podium Car refreshes after seven days on a Thursday. Basically, you have seven shots to get the vehicle of that given week. If you own a Penthouse, you can spin it for free, but if you don't it's $500 a spin. Don't fret if you don't win, as you can try for something else. You have a one in 20 chance of getting the podium vehicle, a car discount, or a mystery prize. There's a four in 20 chance of getting clothes, chips, and cash. Finally, there's a five in 20 chance of getting RP. On that note, here's everything you need to know about this week's GTA podium car. RELATED LINKS: GTA 5 mods, GTA 6, Buy GTA V |

PCGamesN Thursday, November 10, 2022 9:40 AM Want to know how to unlock the Modern Warfare 2 BAS-P for your arsenal? The new SMG bears an uncanny resemblance to the MPX, which is a gun that's rarely appeared across the Call of Duty franchise. Typically, you can expect low recoil and relatively low damage, but a decent rate of fire with this weapon, making it superb in the hands of players who can reliably land headshots. The BAS-P is one of two Modern Warfare 2 guns set to arrive with the MW2 Season 1 release date, and there are another two coming out halfway through the season. It's also the starting weapon for an entirely new weapon platform: Bruen Ops. Anyone familiar with the Warzone 1 meta will know the Bruen well, so here's hoping this platform will eventually deliver an LMG like the Bruen MK9. The upcoming mid-season weapons also both fall into the Bruen Ops platform and are assault rifles, so maybe Season 2 will usher in the arrival of Bruen MK9. The sequel to one of the world's most popular battle royale game is right around the corner, and with it comes the first of many seasons of new cosmetics, in-game events, and weapons. Each season of Warzone 2 will likely come with a theme, with some of the original Warzone seasons going as far as changing the map itself. Some of the most notable changes from the original Warzone were the addition of Nakatomi Plaza from Die Hard for the 80's Action Hero update, and the spooky overhaul of the entire map for the Haunting of Verdansk. PCGamesN Thursday, November 10, 2022 6:25 AM The lack of a Modern Warfare 2 hardcore mode option in multiplayer has alarmed players upon the launch of the latest Call of Duty shooter, because there's no option to pick hardcore on the menus. The classic no-HUD, shorter time-to-kill game mode that has been present in every FPS game in the series since the original Modern Warfare is confirmed to be coming to the game later down the line, but when it does, it'll be known as something different. While hardcore mode isn't in the game right now, when the Modern Warfare 2 Tier 1 playlist option is released with Modern Warfare 2 season 1, that's what you'll want to select. Hardcore has been renamed to Tier 1 for reasons known only to the developers, but the mode itself is the same. They'll have men in suits taking you away in the middle of the night, never to be seen again, before you can say "democracy dies in the dark." In all seriousness, the most secure VPN is going to help stop governments, internet services providers, and faceless corporations from building a profile on you based on everything you do online. Why should anybody but you know what you've been searching for, what you've been buying, who you've been taking to, and more? You have a right to your own privacy, and we've made this guide to point you in the direction of the services that can protect it. Our number one pick for internet privacy is PureVPN, but we'll get into our reasons why shortly. By their very nature, the majority of VPNs are concerned with protecting your privacy, and some of them do this in better ways than others. Our five choices each have their own unique strengths, with many of them counted amongst the most private VPN services and the best VPN services overall. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, November 10, 2022 8:56 AM I'm of the strong and perhaps completely nonsensical opinion that any game is better when it's set on an island. School me in the comments, please do, but I suspect that Escape Academy: Escape From Anti-Escape Island, new DLC launching for the puzzle game today, might lend my claim some extra weight. That could always be the baggage plummeting from the sky over Anti-Escape Island though, where a summer vacation for the students of Escape Academy has gone very, very wrong. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, November 10, 2022 6:00 AM Say what you will about Square Enix's ill-fated ventures into NFTs and mildly embarrassing follies with live service games recently. Their commitment to remaking, remastering and generally sprucing up their ageing back catalogue from decades past is an admirable one in my eyes, even if they are making you pay through the nose for them almost every single time. As we all know, though, some have made more successful transitions than others. The dream, of course, at least for me, is the Final Fantasy VII Remake approach for literally everything, no matter how unfeasible, impractical or physically impossible that would be for Squeenix's enormous game library. Alas, the reality is often a lot more modest. Best case scenario: you're a 90s SNES game getting a lovely HD-2D makeover like Live A Live. Next on the rung: some added 3D zhuzh a la Final Fantasy VIII Remastered (although even that was by no means perfect). Mostly, though, it's your Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster treatment. A welcome update that maintains the look of the originals (albeit with some questionable font choices), but that's more or less your lot. Tactics Ogre: Reborn, a remaster of the 2010 PSP remake of the 1995 SNES original, falls squarely into the latter camp, but you know what? That's fine. It's still a rollicking turn-based tactics game all these years later, and one that definitely deserves to be freed from the shackles of Sony's long-dead handheld, where it's lain dormant for the better part of a decade. Besides, I'll take a fully re-orchestrated soundtrack over slightly fancier pixels any day of the week. You know me. |

Siliconera Thursday, November 10, 2022 9:30 AM Marvelous shared the Rune Factory 3 Special opening movie in Japan, and it involves an animated scene featuring the main character Micah and all the bachelorettes. The new theme song also plays throughout. The Rune Factory 3 Special opening movie begins by focusing on Micah. We see the character, who can transform between a human and golden Wooly. He's drops a basket of veggies. It's then that Shara, the first Rune Factory 3 bachelorette, appears to help him pick things up. From there, the other potential love interests show up. We see the blacksmith Raven, with an axe. Then, there's Pia, who works at the bathhouse. While she's having her moment, Sakuya pops in. Darla the elven artist appears in her studio. Collette is the next Rune Factory 3 bachelorette to show up in the video. Marian and Sofia come up after that. Finally, there's Karina at the general store and Carmen fishing at the end. Here's the full video. However, one bachelorette doesn't appear in the opening movie. That's Kuruna. However, she does appear in the official art for the game. Rune Factory 3 Special will come to the Nintendo Switch in Japan on March 2, 2023. A worldwide release is also planned for 2023. The original Rune Factory 3 appeared on the Nintendo DS. Siliconera Thursday, November 10, 2022 9:00 AM People get a chance to try Mario Strikers: Battle League, the latest Switch entry in the Super Mario soccer game series, with a new demo. Nintendo announced the trial last night. It is immediately available worldwide on the eShop. This isn't the first free trial for the first-party title. Back before Mario Strikers: Battle League launched, Nintendo shared a limited-time demo for the Switch soccer game. That one only offered six sessions during which people could play. This one offers a more extensive opportunity, though in some ways it is still limited. As mentioned in the announcement, people can't access everything. For instance, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Yoshi, and Bowser are the only playable characters. (Folks like Rosalina, Daisy, and Donkey Kong are locked out.) You also are limited to a few stadiums as well. There is also a limit as to how many times you can play. This number is set based on the mode. If you want to test out the Cup Battle feature, you can play the Cannon Cup once. The Quick Battle option can be tried a few more times. Folks can see what a fast Switch soccer match is like in that mode seven times. Mario Strikers: Battle League and its demo are available now on Nintendo Switch. Siliconera Thursday, November 10, 2022 8:30 AM Capcom already teased that the free Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Title Update 3 would appear before November 2022 ends. Now, it seems we'll learn exactly what that entails next week. A digital event is set for November 16, 2022. People can tune in at 6am PT/9am ET/2pm GMT for details. Valerie Arem, the voice actress for the major Sunbreak heroine Dame Fiorayne, will be its host. Here's the official announcement. Only a Twitch broadcast is mentioned, so it seems it won't appear on YouTube.
Each one of these major updates adds new content like extra monsters, fixes, and quality of life changes. Ahead of Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Title Update 3, Capcom already shared some of the things players can expect. There will be new follower options. There will be extra Gunlance forging options. Qurious Crafting will let you get upgrade materials back. These sorts of updates tend to be spaced out. Free Title Update 2 arrived back in September 2022, after all. We might also learn about the patch that will appear after the third one. Monster Hunter Rise and its Sunbreak expansion are available for the Nintendo Switch and PC, and the free Title Update 3 will appear in late November 2022. The digital event will be held at 6am PT/9am ET/2pm GMT on November 16, 2022. The post Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Title Update 3 Digital Event Dated appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Thursday, November 10, 2022 8:00 AM Tactics Ogre: Reborn is a remaster of a remake. It's a game that persists through the wheel of time as it is ported from generation to generation, breathing life into the Ogre Battle series. Pulling from the PlayStation Portable release of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, which appeared in 2010, Reborn doesn't deviate much from the various bells, whistles, and adjustments from the remake. Instead, it offers another avenue to experience what has been described as one of the best tactical RPGs of its generation. But while that statement holds true, it is precisely what holds Tactics Ogre: Reborn back, as design sensibilities in tactical RPGs shifted towards more streamlined approaches. That isn't to say Tactics Ogre: Reborn is a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. Because so little has changed, outside of the addition of English and Japanese voice work (and a few gameplay features that do make the experience a bit more enjoyable), the spirit of the 2010 remake is alive and well. The character portraits still look phenomenal, with Tsubasa Masao's redesigns of Akihiko Yoshida's original artwork even more gorgeous at higher resolutions. The remastered soundtrack sounds crisp, all without losing the soul of Hitoshi Sakamoto's bombastic original score. There is a lot to love about Reborn, especially if you are familiar with either the 1995 SNES release or the later remake on the PSP. But where Tactics Ogre: Reborn takes a hit is in the updated visuals. Character sprites look muddled and blurred in comparison to how they appeared on the SNES (largely thanks to CRTs) and the PSP. This is a fairly common complaint about Square Enix remasters of classic pixel art games, and Reborn is no exception. Additionally, the user interface feels more or less directly lifted from the PSP release of the game. This probably lends itself well enough to the Nintendo Switch version, but leaves certain menus of the PC port feeling barren. Which is such a strange contradiction at times when factoring how many menus you need to navigate to change your class or change your equipment from the shop after purchasing new weapons, armor, or accessories. That denseness more or less permeates every aspect of the game, for better or worse. As a seminal tactical RPG, Tactics Ogre: Reborn's combat functions and uses several different systems. While gameplay is fairly stock and standard as you move units across detailed maps a tile at a time, there is a level of depth there that Final Fantasy Tactics manages to rival. Which makes a lot of sense, given its shared development team. Not only do players need to consider what classes they will bring into combat with them, but also the alignment and element the respective characters are born under. Each of these little details plays into the synergy of your party, and even at times if a member will leave your group based on their diminishing loyalty to your cause. This also doesn't account for the class and skill system in Tactics Ogre. Thankfully, unlike Final Fantasy Tactics, a character's job level will not shoot back down to level one when changing their class. Instead, they will carry their level over, with you needing to equip the appropriate weapons and skills onto said character once the change has been made. You can also swap classes as much as you'd like, assuming you have the right items to do so. Classes themselves are obtained through various methods as you progress the narrative, with your level cap locked to your Party Level. Similar to skills, spells will need to be equipped onto your magic units, with each spell needing to be purchased to equip onto a single character. This means you will need to purchase duplicates of any given spell in order to equip that same spell onto several characters. There is also a limit as to how many spells or skills a character can equip at any given time, so you will need to choose wisely before heading into combat. If that sounds a bit confusing, it's because it can be. Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together required a certain kind of dedication to understanding its core systems that Reborn also expects from the player. But thankfully this time around, you won't need to play through the game twice or thrice over to see the outcome of different choices. The Wheel of Fate allows you to experience parts of the story you might have missed by now being able to recruit or save characters you couldn't have based on a specific path you chose. Alongside this is another minor, but welcome, gameplay improvement that now allows for you to "rewind" some of your actions in combat through the use of the Chariot Tarot. Since this is a remaster, the narrative of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is unchanged. It is a story of rebellion, perseverance, and sacrifice. As the second entry in the Ogre Battle series, Let Us Cling Together (and Reborn) picks up from where the events of the first game left off. You assume the role of Denim Powell as he, his sister Catiua, and childhood friend Vyce Bozeck take up arms against the Galgastani that occupied their homeland. Each character that appears adds to the richness of the narrative as hard choices are to be made, which will ultimately determine the events leading up to the conclusion and the conclusion itself. There are some moments in particular that are fairly shocking, especially when certain narrative threads rely on the player's response to specific events. This is only enhanced by a masterful localization, which features some of the most iconic lines in any JRPG to date. However, while the addition of English and Japanese voice acting was one of my most looked forward to features of this remaster, I ended up turning the English voice acting off about three hours into the game. The performances felt inconsistent, with certain lines' delivery falling flat, specifically one of the most memorable lines in the entire game that is spoken fairly early on. The Japanese voice overs are good enough, but I found the game to be at its most enjoyable without any voiced dialogue. That said, it's a great addition in terms of an accessibility feature or for those that want to ingest the engrossing narrative of the game. But when all is said and done, Tactics Ogre: Reborn is everything that it should be. While its gameplay systems may feel archaic in this new age of tactical RPGs, it somehow enhances the harshness of its narrative. This will no doubt make it daunting for those unfamiliar with this style of tactics title. It certainly won't be for everyone, but remains a tried and true classic. And those who haven't yet had to experience the Ogre Battle series will be in for a treat. As its themes of self-sacrifice and perseverance against all odds stand the test of time, even if its gameplay may not. Tactics Ogre: Reborn will release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on November 11, 2022. Siliconera Thursday, November 10, 2022 7:00 AM In a business report that Nintendo put out after an investors meeting on November 9, 2022, it discussed the contrast between the Japanese and global markets in response to Splatoon 3 sales figures. While the game has sold incredibly well worldwide, a more significant portion of the Japanese playerbase bought the game at launch. However, Nintendo has expressed optimism that this means there is room for the international market to grow. Shuntaro Furukawa, who is the current president of Nintendo, was the one to answer the question. According to Furukawa, the initial sales figures of Splatoon 3 were extremely strong in Japan, which exacerbated the impression that there was a huge difference between the international and Japanese markets. In reality, though, Splatoon 3's sales overseas have already surpassed those of Splatoon 2, making it a success. Furukawa theorized that the Nintendo Switch enjoyed a lot of success around the time of Splatoon 3's launch. This is due to the release of titles like Xenoblade 3 and Kirby's Dream Buffet. Because Splatoon 3 came out amidst these strong contenders, it played into the existing excitement in the Japanese market. During development, the team focused on how they could make former players pick up this game. So the number of new players who started from Splatoon 3 exceeded expectations. For reference, Splatoon 3 broke Japan's all-time launch sales figures' record in September 2022. In the first three days of release, it sold 3.45 million copies. Due to how many territories it appeared in, it is difficult to gauge how well it did in individual countries. But a recent financial report shows that Splatoon 3 sold a combined 7.90 million units within 21 days in September 2022. Splatoon 3 is available on Nintendo Switch worldwide. Siliconera Thursday, November 10, 2022 6:00 AM During a Q&A session with at a Nintendo investors meeting, Nintendo announced that there are over 36 million active subscribers in its Nintendo Switch Online service. It also said that it would not raise the prices of the Nintendo Switch, even if the Japanese yen is weak. This was in response to a report on November 8, 2022 stating that Nintendo was considering doing so. As of late September 2022, over 36 million paid Nintendo Switch Online service accounts exist. Nintendo Switch Online is a subscription service that allows players to play online or save on a cloud. It also gives members access to N64 games such as Wave Race 64 and Pokemon Stadium, should they purchase the Expansion Pass tier. Since Nintendo aims to maintain a positive relationship with its fan base for a long time, it noted it also has plans to add more benefits to Nintendo Switch Online as part of that goal. As for the price of the Switch, that came up as well during Nintendo's discussion. According to the initial Reuters report, Nintendo will "carefully consider" the option to do so. It is unclear if this price hike would have only been in Japan. As a precedent, Sony raised the price of the PS5 in certain territories as a response to issues such as high inflation rates. While Nintendo ultimately decided against it, it may broach this subject again depending on the economic situation. Nintendo Switch Online is available monthly for $3.99 or yearly for $19.99. The Expansion Pack plan with N64 games, Genesis games, and DLC is $49.99 per year. The Nintendo Switch will remain at its current price point for the foreseeable future.
