Minecraft banners: how to create great banner designs in Minecraft

So, you want to know about Minecraft banners and banner designs? These tall, thin blocks are highly customisable, and you can use them in a variety of ways. For example, you can combine one with a Minecraft shield to add a pattern, you can use it to decorate your buildings, and you can even wear one as a hat (sort of).

In the Minecraft Java edition, you can also use banners to leave markers on a map to make navigation easier. Banners can hold up to six layers of patterns, 16 if you're using Minecraft console commands. You can craft them from wool, and the colour of the wool will influence the design of your banner.

However, knowing you want a Minecraft banner and actually getting one are two different things. It's a good thing we created this handy guide for you. Join us as we explore everything you need to know about banners in Minecraft, including how to put letters on them and what the best banner designs are.

Minecraft glow squid – how to make glowing signs

Want to know where the glow squids are in Minecraft? One of the newer Minecraft mobs, the glow squid arrived in the Minecraft 1.17 update. It's a variant on the regular squid that, aside from its sparkly appearance, doesn't really do much except look pretty. They bimble along without a care in the world, well, that is until you accidentally hit them like the monster you are.

Alas, you're likely killing the glow squid for a good reason - these jazzy cephalopods drop glow ink sacs. Minecraft glow ink sacs only really have a couple of cosmetic uses, mostly illuminating text on signs. Nevertheless, the effect does make the text stand out, particularly useful if some hooligan mob somehow dislodges your torches. In any case, there's nothing wrong with a sparkly sign.

So if you really want to get your hands on the glow ink sacs, we'll tell you where to go to find the Minecraft glow squids, how you can use the glow ink sacs on your signs, and how to change them back to normal if you tire of their glowing effect.

Newegg will now accept open box returns

Returning parts of your gaming PC back to their point of purchase should be simple, but it can very often come with feelings of anxiety and frustration. Some Newegg customers know this all too well, including hardware reviewer Stephen 'Steve' Burke of Gamers Nexus fame. Burke recently accused the company of conducting shady practices, with fairly damning evidence, which has since prompted the retailer to change its policies.

In a statement to Windows Central, Newegg says that it has "put in place new policies to ensure a hassle-free return experience on 'open box' merchandise returns on motherboards and CPUs." While this kind of response is to be expected, the retailer later clarified that these new policies mean that customers can expect to RMA 'open box' products on a "no questions asked" basis.

This is a welcome change in policy that should empower those looking to save some cash on the best gaming CPUs and other expensive PC kit by buying 'open box.'

The best Lost Ark Paladin build for PvP and PvE

As one of Warrior's advanced classes, Paladins have a signature style of mixing heavy armour, melee attacks, and holy magic. Paladin is a very straightforward melee class that places you face to face with your opponents.

With the capacity to take some damage, as well as defeat big groups of enemies, Paladin is also a good class for leveling up quickly in Lost Ark and perfect for solo players who are eager to find a class that negates a lot of damage with shields while engaging opponents. This class uses sword combos, area skills that deal large amounts of damage to foes, and can protect your allies as well.

Paladin skill cooldowns are fairly short, so it's easy to find yourself performing a rotation of attacks, flitting between skills with a powerful sequence of basic attacks. Skills like Flash Thrust and Flash Slash are great attacks that cost no mana, have good upgrades that speed up the process of defeating enemies, and are useful in dealing with big groups. Now, among the initial holy skills you have access to, you should focus on Light of Judgment and Wrath of God, both skills deal huge amounts of AoE damage.

Minecraft Ender Dragon: everything you need to know

So you want to know about the Minecraft Ender Dragon? If the popular open-world crafting game has any kind of end goal, it is to march into The End and defeat the Ender Dragon, also known as 'Jean'. Minecraft's only true boss is no joke and can be tough to beat, so make sure you stock up on plenty of Minecraft potions, don that diamond armour, and keep your composure. Failing all that, maybe some Minecraft cheats will help.

The Ender Dragon spawns as soon as the player enters The End - that nightmarish realm accessible only through a portal found in strongholds. It doesn't matter what difficulty you're playing on, the Ender Dragon will come for you. She shoots dragon's breath and charges at players by swooping down from the sky. If she gets hit she will retreat, but she can also instantly destroy most blocks she comes into contact with.

If you're going to take on this titanic tyrant, you need to come well prepared. Players cannot escape from The End until they slay the Ender Dragon, so you need everything from good armour, potent potions, and even food to keep your health replenished. We also recommend taking some beds because you can use them like TNT charges.

Elden Ring system requirements demand more than 8GB of RAM

The next Soulsborne game hits shelves on February 25, and publisher Bandai Namco's finally lifted the lid on the Elden Ring system requirements. The bad news is that it might tax lower-end or aging systems by asking for 12GB of RAM. The good news is that it isn't quite as demanding on graphics cards.

Developer FromSoftware showcased 15 minutes of extended gameplay in November, 2021, which revealed that Elden Ring will support a maximum resolution of native 4K, HDR, and frame rates of up to 60fps. Unfortunately, it appears that FromSoftware has implemented a frame rate cap, as it did previously with its previous game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It's likely that this will be circumvented through mods, if previous games from the developer are anything to go by.

While it won't be available at launch, ray tracing support should add another layer of gross incandescence to Elden Ring's world. Currently, there's no indication that AMD FSR or Nvidia DLSS will be available to help boost fps, but we'll update this page if and when that changes.

Minecraft book: how to make paper in Minecraft

Want to know how to create your own Minecraft book? Books can be used for enchanting, crafting, or even to make your very own Minecraft enchanting table and a lovingly crafted bookshelf to go alongside it.

Books can also be enchanted themselves and, combined with a Minecraft anvil, they can enchant other items, such as your weapons or your Minecraft shield. There are a few ways to get your hands on enchanted books: you can trade them with librarian villagers, find them in rare pillager raid drops, or even from fishing. If you've got an abundance of these enchanted books, you can disenchant them using a Minecraft grindstone.

There are other ways of obtaining normal books, you can get three books by mining a bookshelf, but if you'd rather save yourself the trouble, here's everything you need to know about creating a Minecraft book yourself. The number one ingredient you need to make a book is, of course, paper, so here are all the details you need to get started.

Looks like a Mad Max 2 could be on the cards

It's looking possible that a Mad Max 2 game from Just Cause 4 developer Avalanche Studios may have been leaked, by someone who got scanned in to appear as an NPC prior to the pandemic. The sequel to one of the best apocalypse games around isn't yet confirmed, but could a Mad Max sequel really be in development?

The first Mad Max game from Avalanche was released back in 2015 a few months after the launch of the latest movie, Mad Max: Fury Road. As open-world games go, it wasn't as well-received as the studio's Just Cause games but did pretty well for itself in terms of sales - it was the eighth-best selling game of 2015 in the US.

A sequel was never announced, but now digital designer Wendy Fok claims that she was invited by Avalanche - prior to the pandemic - and was "scanned to be in Mad Max 2, as a rebel". She provided a picture of the moment, which can be seen below.

Elden Ring release date: the latest details on Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin's game

It finally happened: we now have an Elden Ring release date. Previously announced at the Microsoft E3 conference a few years ago, Elden Ring is coming to Windows PC, produced by Bandai Namco and developed by Hidetaka Miyazaki's studio, FromSoftware.

With the Dark Souls and Sekiro director at the helm, we already know we're in for mystery, nightmarish boss designs, and a whole lot of dying. The announcement trailer gives off some very Dark Souls vibes. Although Miyazaki confirms that Elden Ring gameplay is similar to the Souls series, combat will play out very differently due to the "open and vast environment".

Keeping things FromSoft, Elden Ring is also a third person open-world dark fantasy RPG, but what's new is that it features a collaboration with Game of Thrones writer and author of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin. As a result, we're anticipating plenty more in terms of storytelling than we're used to from Miyazaki, without sacrificing any of the rich, lore-soaked environment and boss designs we know and love from the Souls games. Elden Ring also features music from Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro composer Yuka Kitamura.

The best KG M40 loadout in Warzone Pacific

Looking for the best KG M40 loadout in Warzone Pacific? Call of Duty Vanguard and Warzone Season 2 introduces massive changes to the battle royale game, both in terms of bug fixes and new features. The latest season was delayed by two weeks in order to address some of the issues players are experiencing with both Vanguard and Warzone. The update includes point of interest changes to Caldera, new items, and four new weapons.

The KG M40 boasts the second highest damage per shot in the assault rifle category, yet it's surprisingly accurate when fired from mid to long range. With a fire rate above 600 RPM, you might struggle to control the weapon's recoil at first, but this can be managed with enough practice. Using our optimised loadout, we can bolster the KG M40's accuracy even further to turn this weapon into a low recoil monster from a distance.

The last few weapons added to Warzone Pacific have shaken up the meta, including the Welgun and Cooper Carbine, two excellent weapons that have become staples of the game. We hope the KG M40 and the Whitley LMG will bring something new to the table, so here's everything you need to build the best KG M40 loadout in Warzone Pacific.

Total War: Warhammer 3 Mortal Empires – everything we know

So you want to know about Total War: Warhammer 3 Mortal Empires? Creative Assembly confirmed the release of a new, big map combining all three games via the official Warhammer III FAQ. The studio states that, "We will release a massive combined map that will be a huge free DLC for owners of all three games, and we'll have more detail later."

We also got a little bit more detail when we interviewed game director Ian Roxburgh ahead of the Warhammer 3 release date. "It's definitely coming," Roxburgh reiterated, "It'll be everything we promised – all three games combined. We're not going into detail about the shape it'll take yet, but rest assured it's still the ultimate culmination of the vision behind the trilogy. I don't think the map will be much bigger, because the map in Warhammer III is twice as big as before, and bigger than Mortal Empires."

At the moment, that's all we know for sure. The new map may not even be called 'Mortal Empires' but considering that's what the equivalent expansion was called following Warhammer II's release, that's what the community is working with for now. You may have also seen the term 'Immortal Empires' floating about, althought this isn't official.

     Phasmophobia devs are experimenting with

If you're a Phasmophobia fan, you'll know that the devs at Kinetic Games love a teaser and, while the game's patch notes tend to offer a hearty rundown of the changes coming with each update, the devs are now looking to be even clearer about what's new. Following a recent fan poll the devs ran in the ghost game's Discord server, they've opted to spell out changes in more detail going forward.

Lead artist Corey J Dixon made clear in Discord that the poll "in no way guarantees how we actually write patch notes in the future," and that the team was "just looking for opinions and to create discussion for the possibility of change". However, the option offering the most detail about changes to the game ("reveal everything that's new or changed within each update" apart from "hidden abilities" and easter eggs) was the runaway success, with multiple times the number of votes as the less-detailed options - and the latest patch notes reflect this.

"In light of the most recent Discord poll, we've decided to experiment with being more transparent in writing patch notes when we update the game," Kinetic Games explains in the v0.5.2.0 balance patch post.

     System Shock remake is playable

A new System Shock remake update has gone live to Kickstarter backers that details the current state of the game. The remake is reportedly playable "from beginning to end" but it sounds like it may still be a long time before one of the best horror games ever made makes its return.

It's been a long time since work began on System Shock: Remastered, the full remake of the classic immersive sim that inspired the likes of BioShock, Deus Ex, and Prey. The Kickstarter was fully funded back in 2016 but it's seemingly had quite a slow development - it's had numerous release estimates and it's shot past them all.

In the new February 2022 update on Kickstarter, developer Nightdive gives a positive update on the System Shock remake. As it stands right now, the team says System Shock "can essentially be finished from beginning to end", with the focus now on "polishing up the levels, and incorporating additional art, animations, and creating a ton of secondary assets".

How to unlock secret characters in Vampire Survivors

Want to know how to unlock secret characters in Vampire Survivors? When you start your first run you only have a handful of characters and a few weapons available. However, on each playthrough, more items, weapons, and characters unlock for you to use in future attempts.

These items are vital if you wish to use Vampire Survivor weapon evolutions to maximise a weapon's damage output. The game also locks new characters behind requirements, such as leveling up your gear to a certain threshold, finding items in a level, or slaying a quota of monsters.

Some of these unlock conditions are somewhat vague, so we thought we'd list how you can get all of the Vampire Survivors characters, weapons, items, and levels. We also have a cheat code that you need to type to get another hidden vampire slayer and steps to access a secret character that requires you to tinker with the game's code.

     Vampire Survivors weapon evolution guide

Want to know how to evolve weapons in Vampire Survivors? This roguelite indie game is rapidly gaining in popularity, as players discover the sheer joy of walking around a forest or library, slaying an ever-growing encroaching horde of monsters that just want to be very close to you.

It's a relatively simple game to play, but mastering it and unlocking Vampire Survivors characters can get a little tricky if you don't spec into the correct build from the start. To evolve an item in Vampire Survivors, you must first level up a weapon to its maximum level, collect its linked item when it appears on the level up screen, then kill a boss monster and open the chest it leaves behind. Unfortunately, you only have a few slots for weapons and items, so you must choose carefully.

The items that synergise well with a weapon aren't necessarily the items you need to evolve them, so while you'll want to pick up the candelabrador if you have the garlic weapon, you also need a pummarola to power it up. To help you figure out which items to keep, we've put together a list of all the possible Vampire Survivors weapon evolutions and which items you need to pick up when you level up.

Shadow Warrior 3 system requirements are kind to old gaming PCs

Shadow Warrior 3's release date is fast approaching, and developer Flying Wild Hog has finally revealed the game's system requirements. Thankfully, the six-year gap between instalments in the franchise hasn't pushed the specs needed to jump into this whacky FPS game much higher.

If you haven't been able to upgrade your gaming PC with the best graphics card on the market, worry not, as Shadow Warrior 3 can run on near-decade old GPUs like the Nvidia GeForce GTX 760. It's a similar story when it comes to CPUs too, and you can expect a 30fps experience at 1080p with the average preset.

For those aiming for 60fps with higher graphics settings, you'll need to equip yourself with a more modern card like the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 or AMD Radeon RX 5700. Shadow Warrior 3 requires 8GB of gaming RAM and 31GB of storage space from your gaming SSD, regardless of which spec you aim for.

League of Legends patch 12.4 notes – New champion Renata Glasc, Shockblade skins

It's that time again, League of Legends fans. Patch 12.3 has made the leap from the MOBA game's PBE to live servers, which means it's now turn for a new testing cycle to kick into gear. League of Legends patch 12.4 has now arrived for its fortnight-long round of testing and tinkering, and there's already plenty to check out.

The big news this patch is the arrival of yet another new champion. Hot on the heels of Zeri's release with League of Legends patch 12.2, Renata Glasc has now made her debut on the PBE. Known as the Chem Baroness, she's a powerful figure with "an advanced technological heritage" from Zaun, who has risen through the ranks to become the region's wealthiest chem baron - "a business magnate who built her power by tying everyone's interests to her own". Mysterious, persuasive, and with what sounds like a bit of a ruthless streak, Renata Glasc is being launched as a support champ. You can check out all of her abilities, stats, and skins in the notes below.

Elsewhere this patch, we've got some new Shockblade skins on the way for champions Kassadin, Shen, and Qiyana, and the new-and-improved Firelight Ekko - which was previously delayed - is now on the way.

Lost Ark servers – server list, server maintenance, and cross server content

So you want to know about Lost Ark servers? They say the most stressful decision in any MMO game is deciding which character class to pick first, but really it's choosing which server to jump into. This is especially important when you're planning to play a game with friends - you'll want to make sure you're all playing on the same server.

So while you may already know which Lost Ark class you want to try out first, you'll need to nail your server choice. If you are playing with friends, it might be worth sharing the server list with them so you can have a conversation about it. Note that North America is split into two region groupings, and the east coast possesses more server options than the west coast. Europe has the largest selection of servers, and there are a couple of South American server options as well.

We've put together this guide so you can see what the current server list is, how to check your server's status, as well as other commonly asked questions such as whether you can change a character's server and which content can be played across servers. Enjoy!

Easily one of the standout PC reveals from last year's Game Awards, Dune: Spice Wars is an upcoming real-time 4X strategy game about everyone's favourite doomed sand planet. Based on Frank Herbert's acclaimed novel and made by the same folks behind Northgard and Wartales, Dune: Spice Wars will see players step into the boots of one of four factions when it launches in early access later this spring, and I've had a chance to see how one of them works in action.

In a hands-off presentation, developers Shiro Games showed us how the (sadly Chalamet-less) Atreides family will be going about their fight to control Arrakis' most coveted substance - the all-important spice melange - although players will also be able to choose from the shady Harkonnen clan at launch, plus two more unannounced factions that will be revealed in the coming weeks. There's a lot to take in, but if you've been waiting for a Dune game to succeed the 1992 RTS epic that was Dune II: Battle For Arrakis, well, you better pull your head out of the sand and strap on your hydro-cycling stillsuit. Professor Layton 15th Anniversary

The 15th anniversary of the Professor Layton series falls on February 15, 2022. Level-5 is celebrating the occasion by opening submissions for an international art competition. Artists from all around the world can join the contest and try to win specially branded sealing stamps.

To be eligible for the 15th anniversary contest, artists only need to follow either the Japanese or English Twitter account for the Professor Layton franchise with a non-protected account. They can enter their submissions by adding the #Layton15th hashtag to their illustration tweets afterward.

Level-5 will close the entry period on Thursday, March 31, 2022. It plans to announce the winners in April 2022. The company also advised participants to not to delete their submission tweets until it has revealed the winners.

Fifteen artists' illustrations will be picked and they'll win a sealing stamp with a unique "Professor Layton 15th Anniversary" logo. Level-5 will contact the winners through Twitter direct messages to confirm their shipping addresses.

Final Fantasy XIV Automatic Housing Demolition

Square Enix announced automatic housing demolition within Final Fantasy XIV will resume soon. This feature was temporarily suspended due to the influx of players and congestion issues during the release of the Endwalker expansion. However, the developer will resume automatic housing demolition in Final Fantasy XIV on March 9, 2022. This means that players will need to enter their estates before a certain period of time has elapsed. Otherwise, they will lose their house.

Once a house it lost, players cannot automatically get it back. The house will be demolished and the plot then subsequently put up for sale. Players will need to enter their estate at least once every 30 days to avoid home demolition. If you are worried about the status of your house, you can check how long you have until your house is demolished through the Timers tab.

However, while players can check to see how long they have until the house is eventually destroyed, Square Enix strongly suggests users enter their house before the period draws too close. The timer counts down the days, and not the precise time as to when the game will demolish the house. Additionally, those within the ten day period of automatic demolition will receive an e-mail notification once the timer resumes.

In December 2021, Square Enix suspended the automatic demolition of houses. The suspension applied to every data center.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Square Enix will release plush dolls of the main characters from NieR Replicant Ver. 1.22474487139. Pre-orders are open via the Square Enix e-Store and they will come out in October 2022. The dolls cost $46.99 each.

You can choose between plush dolls of Brother Nier, Kaine, and Emil. Emil appears in the form that most people associate with him, which makes sense. Due to Yoko Taro's usage of his head as a mask, Emil is highly recognizable as a symbol for the NieR series. There does not appear to be a plush of Father Nier. The dolls vary in size but average at approximately 7.5" x 4.3" x 3.5". The three of them look like they are sitting down on the ground, with neutral expressions befitting their personalities.

Here are some more pictures of the dolls:

Other merchandise that is available through the official Square Enix e-Store for NieR Replicant include an Emil plush pouch and an Emil plush pillow. Emil isn't the only character with goods, though. A Bring Arts figure of Young Nier is currently open for pre-order.

NieR Replicant is readily available worldwide on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The NieR Replicant dolls are open for pre-order from the Square Enix e-Store and have a release window of October 2022.

thus spoke kishibe rohan

Viz announced a Fall 2022 release for the English version of the Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe manga. This is a spin-off from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable that follows the story of Rohan Kishibe rather than a member of the Joestar family. There is no exact release date as of yet.

https://twitter.com/VIZMedia/status/1493284001091567623

Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe follows the titular Rohan and his daily life as a mangaka. Unfortunately, things aren't very peaceful or quiet for him. Even when he isn't actively antagonizing people, he finds himself in a myriad of problems and drama. Unlike the enemy Stand users of the main series, Rohan's enemies are more fantastical. The first volume comes with five chapters. Those who watched the OVA would be familiar with three of them, as they were adapted into anime format.

In July 2021, Viz announced a Spring 2022 release for JoJo 6251: The World of Hirohiko Araki. This is an artbook that originally came out in 1993, so it covers material between Parts 1 to 4. Since Part 4 was in the midst of serialization when this came out, it does not have content for the entirety of that part. As for brand new JoJo's Bizarre Adventure content, Part 9 was announced in August 2021, but there is still no news as to when we can expect it.

Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe will come out in English in Fall 2022. The manga also has both a live-action and an anime adaptation. The anime is a Netflix exclusive and is available on the streaming service.

Kingdom Of The Dead Worth It 1I first got access to Kingdom of the Dead a couple of weeks before it launched. But the controls were so broken that, after informing the devs, I waited for a patch. Even at launch, the controls were still broken, so I wasn't even able to move enough to get past the first level until post-launch. It turned out the problem was that the keyboard controls didn't work with a controller plugged in, which is a bug that I've never seen before. This alone worried me, but the game currently has a "Very Positive" on Steam at the time of this writing, with 89% of the 57 reviews recommending it. So, is Kingdom of the Dead worth it? The game starts you off as a detective in an office. You need to approach your desk and pick a case file to then be dispatched to one of the available levels. At first, there are three available to you. Taking inspiration from Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark, levels are available in three difficulties, with the second and third containing...
