However, in new gameplay revealed earlier this week, it seems that one of my biggest gripes with the first game is coming back in this new one. Cal Kestis,…

     Vampire Survivors cheats

Want a list of all of the Vampire Survivors cheats? It seems like a cruel joke for the roguelike game to add cheat codes this late in development, but here we are. One of the later patches gave would-be vampire hunters a chance to enter some codes for powerful abilities. You can click on the Yellow Sign entry seven times to unlock this secret menu, but it will disappear not long afterwards.

To permanently unlock the Vampire Survivors cheats, you need to find the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane, which you can obtain by slaying the Bone Orb in the Bone Zone. Once you pick this up, a new secrets menu will appear on the main menu in the roguelike game. Not only can you enter cheats here, but you can also see the conditions for unlocking the hidden Vampire Survivors unlockable characters. Of course, you can just enter codes to unlock them; we have the full list below.

Destiny 2 fall damage gets game-changing nerf

Destiny 2 fall damage will receive a major game-changing nerf in the Destiny 2 season 20 midseason update, according to a recent developer post on the Bungie blog. Starting with the Destiny 2 Lightfall release date, Bungie will make changes focused on reducing the negative impact of collision damage in Destiny 2, including damage from Cabal drop pods and random interactions that cause players to take damage for unclear reasons. However, the Bungie team also expects to implement changes that render fall damage no longer lethal in the FPS game by its scheduled midseason update, which will likely occur in April.

Wild Hearts monsters and Kemono list

Also known as Kemono, Wild Hearts monsters are a vital part of the ecosystem in this Japanese folklore-inspired world. The people of Minato have lived in fear of them and the terrible destruction they are capable of causing. To protect their home, the villagers mastered the use of ancient technology to hunt the beasts down.

To take the Wild Heart monsters down, you must master your weapons in this RPG game. You must also use the highly adaptable ancient technology to soar into the sky, blast them with cannon fire, or even as a wheel to chase down a fleeing Kemono. Some beasts will be more susceptible to certain Karakuri, so it's worth studying them to work out what to take on your next hunt.

Hogwarts Legacy troll bogeys and their locations

Are you on the hunt for Hogwarts Legacy troll bogeys? There aren't many enemies as fearsome and dangerous as the troll in Hogwarts Legacy, and for good reason. Not only can trolls deplete your health pool in a single attack, but they're also incredibly sturdy as they have thousands of health points compared to other minions. If you're extremely unlucky, you may have to fight against multiple enemies at once, making troll battles very difficult.

You'll want to avoid encounters with trolls unless you're after precious troll bogeys to brew your own Hogwarts Legacy potions. You may also need to complete Professor Onai's assignment which requires you to collect troll bogeys, forcing you to defeat a troll in the wild. Getting into a fight with a troll in Hogwarts Legacy is a guaranteed way to collect some viscous mucus, so we've highlighted locations in the open-world game where you can find troll bogeys.

Hogwarts Legacy multiplayer would give you the chance to team up with your friends to cause mischief and take down evil, so it's little wonder we want the mode in the RPG game. But does it exist yet?

Hogwarts is a school, it's where you start and forge the greatest of friendships, so of course it would be a logical assumption that Hogwarts Legacy multiplayer would be available in the massive open-world game. You could attend classes with friends, no matter which house you belong to and which of the Hogwarts Legacy common rooms you call home, have someone to talk to as you traverse the massive Hogwarts Legacy map, and test out some of the kinder and funnier Hogwarts Legacy spells on each other. The Hogwarts Legacy Mandrake is just as you would expect if you're familiar with the lore of the wizarding world - or the real plant's own muggle world properties. An iconic plant baby with an ear-splitting shriek, the Mandrake is needed to complete assignments set by Herbology professor Garlick, but can also be used in combative defence. But how do you get one, or where do you find a Mandrake?

Much the same as other plants and fruits in Hogwarts Legacy, the Mandrake can be grown in the Room of Requirement, so you can always have one ready when you need them. Unlike other natural resources, though, the Mandrake isn't used in Hogwarts Legacy potions - that would be cruel - and can instead be equipped to your potion wheel itself and taken into battle, where its mind-blowing scream can be used to disarm opponents. There is a fantastic moment in Half-Life 2, during the 'Water Hazard' section of Valve's FPS game, when you first arrive at one of the resistance outposts, Station 12. Previously, you – or, if you prefer, Gordon Freeman – have been told that communications with Station 12 have mysteriously ceased. Overlooking City 17's irradiated river, the Station is supported on stilts. Immediately, you know that something is wrong. The river is silent. No-one exits the Station to greet you. Intel's Arc graphics cards debuted to surprisingly warm reviews late last year, including over at Digital Foundry where I endorsed them as a "pleasant surprise" that were "already cards worth buying" thanks to better-than-expected performance in modern titles. Today, the cheaper of the two cards, the Arc A750, is available for £250 plus shipping at Overclockers UK, a steep £80 reduction from their £330 launch price.

A lot (most) of the magic games we're highlighting this week are in some manner lovely and nice, because witches these days tend towards the cottagecore (ily, Little Witch In The Woods!). It's nice that witches have changed in our minds to "unmarried lady who lives alone and is good with herbs and cats :]", when they used to be "unmarried lady who lives alone and is good with herbs and her cat is the devil and she has sex with the devil".

There's still room for witches with some threat to 'em, though, and I love a weird horror game, so you can imagine that when I heard about The Salt Order my interest was immediately piqued. It's a low-poly PS1-style game where an order of witches has tasked you with retrieving a grimoire from a cursed realm of endless trees. You are largely defenceless, except for the ability to draw on the ground with salt. "In many stories that I knew as a child, salt was one of the very powerful magical protective elements against evil spirits," solo dev Khamelot tells me over email. "During invocations, drawing a circle of salt could act as a basic protection. To prevent the spirits from entering one's home, you could put salt in front of the openings of the house."

Chow Down on Monster Menu in May Release Date

NIS America announced a North American and European release date for Monster Menu: The Scavenger's Cookbook. It promised a 2023 release window. Now, it's making good on that. It will appear on the Switch, PS4, and PS5 in both regions on May 23, 2023. There's also a new trailer looking at the game's mechanics, showing how it works.

Here's the latest Monster Menu trailer. It begins by establishing that everyone around Piohne attempts to face its dungeons. The player is one of them, but it's overwhelming. They turn to eating a rotting monster out of starvation. It knocks them out.

From there, it goes over how things actually work. People will explore dungeons to get materials and face monsters. When they have ingredients, they can combine them to create expected dishes. Eating that can provide stat boosts and bonuses to make them stronger and better able to handle fights. While the exploration adn survival elements are roguelike, the battles are turn-based and strategic.

New Eternights Trailer Shows Fighting, Dating, Summer Release Window

As part of Sony's array of indie game announcements on February 9, 2023, a new update came up for Eternights. As a reminder, this is an indie action-RPG set after the apocalypse that involves not only dealing with enemies, but sticking to a schedule and building up relationships with allies. While it originally had an "early" 2023 launch window, it will now come out in Summer 2023. There's also a new trailer showing off possible dating situations, fights against enemies, and exploration.

The announcement went over some elements updated as development goes on. It noted the schedule, which will determine what people do and how much time they have to accomplish goals, were adjusted. The combat UI ended up tweaked, which can be seen in the new trailer.

Here's the new trailer for the game. It only features the English voice actors' performances. However, the latest announcement confirmed Japanese and Korean voice acting will be in the game too. It begins with the group running through the world. From there, we get to see them in battle against a number of different opponents. At the 44 second mark, we got to see the hero interacting with some of the heroines. One of the moments even involves a hug.

Guilty Gear Strive Next DLC Character and Stage Delayed

The next Guilty Gear Strive Season Pass 2 DLC character and stage won't appear as planned. Arc System Works noted it was originally going to launch in March 2023. That's the same month as the Arc World Tour 2022 Final. However, the two add-ons now won't appear until April 2023.

Arc System Works brought up the Guilty Gear Strive DLC character and stage delay in the following tweet. It only noted that it is being pushed back a month due to quality control purposes. It didn't offer any hint as to the character's identity.

This next DLC character was first teased back in December 2022. During the second day of ArcRevo Japan 2022, peeks at the Another Story DLC came up.

This will mark the second to last playable character and last stage to appear in Guilty Gear Strive Season Pass 2. Sin Kiske and Bridget were the first two.

Guilty Gear Strive is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC. It will come to the Xbox One and Xbox Series X in early 2023. We could learn more about the identity of the next DLC character at Arc World Tour 2022 Final, which will be held March 10-11, 2023 in Los Angeles, California.

Like a Dragon Ishin Steam Deck Verified

Like a Dragon: Ishin Steam Deck compatibility is confirmed. The official Steam product page for the latest Yakuza spin-off got updated. When it did, it noted that the title is now Steam Deck verified. This is an confirmation that it is completely compatible with the handheld. [Thanks, Wario64!]

This is a formality of sorts. It is possible for games that aren't officially verified to work on a Steam Deck. However, getting the official verification notice does mean that it will work with the handheld's controls, be able to read, its menus will work, and that it will recognize it is being played on the system and show the appropriate in-game icons for button prompts.

Like a Dragon: Ishin isn't the only Yakuza game to be Steam Deck verified. Here's the full list of past titles and spin-offs that also are playable on the device.

  • Judgment
  • Lost Judgment
  • Yakuza 0
  • Yakuza Kiwami
  • Yakuza Kiwami 2
  • Yakuza 3 Remastered
  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Yakuza 4 Remastered, Yakuza 5 Remastered, and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life are unsupported.

Like a Dragon: Ishin will release for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 21, 2023. The Digital Deluxe version includes early access to it on February 17, 2023.

Square Enix added new optional items to the FFXIV Mog Station Online Store, and among them is the new Ceruleum Balloons mount. This resembles a bunch of balloons carrying a character across the sky. The Ceruleum Balloons FFXIV mount is an account-wide item all of your characters can use. It costs $24. The character using it looks like they are holding the bunch of colorful balloons, which feature mascots like Chocobos, Moogles, and Cactaurs on them, as it floats through the sky.

Touhou Project doujin game Gensou Garden Monogatari Harvest Yuuka farming life sim

A Touhou Project doujin game that is both a farming and life sim is now on the Nintendo Switch. However, it is only available in Japanese with no English localization. People can now pick up Harvest Yuuka, which originally appeared on PCs under the name Gensou Garden Monogatari. It is $25, and there is no demo.

As the name suggests, the star of Harvest Yuuka is Yuuka Kazami. While a minor character in the Touhou Project games, she's in charge of her own garden in this farming and life sim. The youkai is known for her love of flowers, and your goal in the game is to create and maintain a garden and farm. As you grow plants and crops, then you can cook and sell items to get better equipment and more to do.

There are also some relationship-building elements to the game. As Yuuka goes about her day, she'll get chances to interact with other Touhou Project characters in Gensokyo. Some of the eShop page screenshots show people like Nitori Kawashiro the kappa and Aya Shameimaru the tengu, for example.

Here's a closer look at this Touhou Project doujin game.

Interview- Talking About Fatal Frame- Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Ghosts and Future Games 1

Another Fatal Frame game is about to debut in the west and haunt consoles with new ghosts, but this one is special. That's because it is Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, an entry previously only released in Japan. To help understand what went into bringing it worldwide and designing its ghosts, as well as what this could mean for the future of the series, Siliconera spoke with Producer Yutaka Fukaya and Director Makoto Shibata about what players can expect when they head to Rogetsu Isle.

Jenni Lada: When did work begin on the worldwide release of Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse?

Yutaka Fukaya: Although we began working on the game around the beginning of 2022, we had the concept since well before then.

Lada: How difficult was it to prepare these new ports, and what sorts of unexpected issues came up during development? Was one easier to create than the others?

Fukaya: It wasn't significantly more difficult than other titles, but the fact that it was a port from the Wii, a hardware system that is not like any other, was one of the points that required ingenuity. It's not exactly a difficulty, but if I can mention something that took a lot of time and effort, it's definitely the visuals. We have devoted a lot of resources to the visuals and raised the quality of the game.

Interview- Talking About Fatal Frame- Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Ghosts and Future Games 3

Lada: The Fatal Frame series is known for various costumes for characters, some pulled from other series. How did you pick which costumes to include for the cast in Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse?

Fukaya: We collected a wide range of ideas from within the team, selected the best ones, and then I, as the producer, made the final decision. There are some that fit the image of the main characters and others that will provide a different feel, so we hope you enjoy all of them.

Lada: What inspirations did you turn to for Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse's ghosts?

Makoto Shibata: When thinking about the spirits in this series, I try to follow the theme of the title. In Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, the theme was the fear of losing one's memory and losing one's sense of self. For this reason, I came up with the idea of a disease called "Moonlight Syndrome," in which one loses oneself.

I designed many of the spirits in this game by imagining them dressed in white gowns wandering around in the moonlight, unsure of who they are even after having died. And then create the image of when they see a living person, they cling to them to retrieve their memories, hoping that person has memories of them.

The powerful spirits of Rogetsu Hall have a slightly different concept. In losing oneself, a person becomes attached to something. We established what they are obsessed with and came up with the spirit along with the design of their hospital room.

Interview- Talking About Fatal Frame- Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Ghosts and Future Games 4

Kazuma Hashimoto: Were there any unused concepts for Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse that didn't make it into the final release, such as ghosts or certain gameplay mechanics you had planned to use that couldn't be done due to technical limitations.

Shibata: I'll talk about the original Wii version. The Wii could detect the distance between the controller and the TV. Using this, we envisioned a system in which by pressing a button the main character's hand reaches out, and then moving towards the TV would make the hand would stretch out further.

The reaction of touching items would come back to the player from the vibration of the controller and also through its internal speaker. The idea was to use this to reach inside a box or through the crack in a doorway to pick up an object that couldn't be seen. However, we found that it required very delicate controller operations, and just moving the hand was stressful, so it became a simple action of reaching out while pressing a button. Similarly, after having the Camera Obscura ready to shoot, the controller could be moved back and forth to zoom and twisted to roll. It also turned out that the controller had to be held firmly in place in order to take good pictures, so the concept of rotating the camera by twisting the controller ended up being realized in Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water.

Hashimoto: With Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse receiving its first official English release in North America and Europe, does this mean that Koei Tecmo has further interest in the games and would consider re-releasing Fatal Frame I, Fatal Frame II, and Fatal Frame III on modern platforms?

Fukaya: I can't make any definite promises here, but if through the release of Mask of the Lunar Eclipse we find that many players want to see more of the series, we may be able to respond to that interest.

Hashimoto: Do you see the Fatal Frame series getting a new game, given that reception to Fatal Frame returning has been extremely positive in the West?

Fukaya: The same would apply for a new game in the series, just like in the previous answer. I hope everyone will pick up and enjoy this title and join us in getting everyone excited about the Fatal Frame series!

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam on March 9, 2023.

Tron Identity

The February 2023 Nintendo Direct broadcast brought an update regarding Tron: Identity. Developed by Bithell Games (which also created Thomas Was Alone, Subsurface Circular, and John Wick Hex), Tron: Identity is a narrative adventure game based on Disney's Tron setting. Tron was a 1982 film by Disney and helped pioneer the early use of digital special effects and computer-generated imagery.

Check out the new gameplay footage via the Nintendo Direct broadcast. It appears at about 8 minutes and 45 seconds into it, with a timestamp available in the video description.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMdUSVSEp7U

Tron: Identity takes place in the Grid, one that is distinct from the setting of the original 1982 film and its sequel, 2010's Tron: Legacy. In Tron, computer programmer and game developer Kevin Flynn is transported inside the world of a computer and interacts with the resident programs to escape. These include the titular Tron. In Tron: Legacy, Kevin's son Sam Flynn enters the Grid after receiving clues as to the whereabouts of his missing father. There he encounters a Grid that's been taken over by Clu, a corrupt program.

Located within the digital world of computers and the internet, the Grid has been left to grow and evolve without intervention from human Users. Now a crime has been committed involving the Repository, an institution standing at the center of the Grid's society. Players follow Query, a detective program tasked with investigating the mystery. They'll make choices to influence the outcome of the game and the fate of the server, while interacting with a new and original cast of characters.

Tron: Identity will release for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch in April 2023.

Fatal Frame Mask of the Lunar Eclipse

Originally released in Japan in 2008, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse seemed like a title that would never receive an official English release. While fan translations and patches appeared online, making the game accessible to non-Japanese speaking audiences, Koei Tecmo finally decided to release this Wii exclusive in North America and Europe. Like Maiden of Black Water, Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is a game that is defined by the era it was released. But that doesn't necessarily make it a bad game by any stretch of the imagination.

The controls for the most part are extremely faithful to the original release (minus needing a Wii remote and accompanying nunchuck). Characters run at a sometimes frustratingly slow speed, with walking feeling roughly the same and unaccompanied by the usual running animation known to the Fatal Frame series. That said, it does create a fair amount of tension as vengeful spirits chase you through the halls of the hospital. So in terms of atmosphere, it only adds to the experience, even if it makes exploration sometimes feel like something of a chore. Because despite how slowly you end up navigating halls between objectives, there is always the tension of a random ghost encounter potentially appearing, which serves Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse well. The game is at its best when you feel as though you are constantly on the edge of potentially jumping out of your seat, or like something could be lurking around the next corner.

Fatal Frame Mask of the Lunar Eclipse

Which is what Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse does in its first few hours. Unlike Maiden of Black Water, the game is not split into missions that have you traversing several different areas. While there are different characters that you play as, you are largely confined to one static location. So even the most familiar of areas are never guaranteed to be entirely safe. This is similar to the Himuro Mansion in Fatal Frame and the Manor of Sleep in Fatal Frame III. It feels more or less a return to form for the series, at least within its earlier hours. Those that have played the game in full upon its original release can probably contest this. But as it stands, it feels more in line with the first three Fatal Frame games than Maiden of Black Water did.

The first few ghosts you encounter in the game aren't spectacular or particularly stand-out, which is a shame. Since Fatal Frame enemy designs generally leave a lasting impression, either through their contorted limbs or eerie facial expressions. That said, the sound design does a lot of the heavy lifting. The pained cries of the ghosts, or even the low murmur of their mumbling mixed in with static felt extremely unnerving. Wearing headphones only amplified this, so those that want to have the full experience will definitely want to wear some as they explore the Rogetsu Hospital. It's rare that games genuinely scare me anymore, but Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse definitely left a lasting impression.

Fatal Frame Mask of the Lunar Eclipse

Memos help amplify this, as you find diary entries and news snippets that detail the lives and subsequent deaths concerning the mystery of Rogetsu Island. These events are what has brought protagonist Ruka Minazuki back to this place as she seeks to unearth her memories concerning an incident that happened some years prior. The scarce bits of information provided through these snippets allow for your to piece together events, while providing backstories for some of the ghosts you encounter. Overall, it helps flesh things out and keep the gears spinning, despite some odd grammar here and there in a few of the notes.

While the controls are mostly clunky, aside from a few nice inclusions like the ability to auto-lock onto ghosts, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse feels like a return to form for the series. It's welcome given the last major release was Maiden of Black Water. Despite it definitely not being for everyone, it's great to see Koei Tecmo bring this entry in the series to North America and Europe. Hopefully this will signal a return from the franchise at large, with much of its formula remaining intact. Either way, Mask of the Lunar Eclipse will potentially be a must for survival horror enthusiasts that yearn for a return to the past, or those willing to overlook archaic controls for some great scares.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse will come to the Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC via Steam on March 9, 2023.

WBSC eBaseball Power Pros

Konami announced a surprise release during the latest Nintendo Direct broadcast on February 8, 2023: WBSC eBaseball Power Pros is available right now. The publisher surprise-launched the sports title on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 during the showcase for $0.99. You can get the game from the Nintendo eShop or via the PlayStation Store.

WBSC eBaseball Power Pros is part of Konami's Powerful Pro or Power Pros franchise. It was first announced in July 2022 as part of a collaboration between Konami and the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), an international governing body for baseball, softball, and Baseball5. It's the first Power Pros baseball game to be localized into English since 2007, when Konami and 2K Games released Jikkyou Powerful Major League 2 as MLB Power Pros for the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 2.

Given the length of time that's gone by, Konami also released a "How to Play" introductory video for those looking to give WBSC eBaseball Power Pros a try.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zprm0hX_DZc

Like other titles in the series, the game uses the trademark chibi characters for models. The mechanics have more of a focus on arcade-style play, rather than strict simulation, though there's a lot of control afforded to both the batting and pitching gameplay. The game also has various levels of assist to help players hit the sweet spots. Fielding gameplay is also simulated. WBSC eBaseball Power Pros also supports offline and online versus play, with a Championship mode for ranking.

WBSC eBaseball Power Pros is available now on the Nintendo Switch and PS4.

don't nod Harmony Fall Of Reverie Game Polly BuildingYou may remember during last year's Game Awards that developer Don't Nod revealed a new game called Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. This game stands out from most of the studio's other game due to its full-on fantasy setting and incorporation of action RPG combat. Interestingly, it turns out that Don't Nod has been developing another project in tandem with this one. This new game comes in the form of Harmony: The Fall of Reverie, which Don't Nod unveiled yesterday through a teaser trailer. And, surprisingly, it manages to set itself even further apart from the developer's usual output. Up to this point, Don't Nod's games have depicted their worlds using 3D models and relatively grounded aesthetics. Harmony, on the other hand, opts for a hand-drawn art style, and although much of its aesthetic remains grounded, it boasts quite a bit more color than usual. To top things off, the last third of the trailer and a screenshot or two on the Stea...

Dead Cells Return To Castlevania DlcThe Castlevania series hasn't seen a lot of love from Konami over the years. Apart from remasters of classic games, it's been a long time since a new entry appeared. Luckily it looks like Dead Cells is here to somewhat solve that problem. The Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC is set to release in March for Steam users and brings Castlevania back into the moonlight.
