Ganyu is, in a way, a very easy and forgiving character to build when it comes to her Artifacts. Because she is a Cryo character, you can easily create Cryo Resonance with your party comp. This will help to make up for a Crit Rate deficiency. So when you choose Artifacts or weapons for her, you can focus all of your attention on giving her Crit DMG instead. This is perfect because the majority of her damage comes from critical hits. Some Artifacts that you can consider for your Ganyu build are: 4 PC Blizzard Strayer The Blizzard Strayer full set is the best set you can put on your Ganyu. It doesn't matter if you run her as a main DPS or a sub-DPS. The 4-piece effect increases your Crit Rate against enemies affected by Cryo. There is a further increase if the enemies are Frozen, which means a 4-piece set can give Ganyu a 40% Crit Rate boost. Since all of Ganyu's damage potential comes from her Cryo attacks, the enemies will always have Cryo on them. So you can focus your attention on her Crit DMG instead to maximize how much damage she does when she lands a critical hit. 4 PC Shimenawa's Reminiscence Ganyu's Elemental Burst offers a 20% Cryo buff to anyone within her circle (Ascension passive), which applies to her as well. A 4-piece Shimenawa's Reminiscence asks you to sacrifice that boost in favor of the set's 50% DMG increase. Obviously, you would want to take 50% over 20%! Every time you use your Elemental Skill, your energy decreases. But your Charged Attack will deal much more damage. This is a perfectly fine exchange because Ganyu's Burst is not her main source of damage anyway. 2 PC Noblesse + 2 PC Blizzard Strayer OR 2 PC Noblesse + 2 PC EM If you are building your Ganyu as a sub-DPS in a Melt or Freeze comp, then you will likely put EM weapons on her. If you do so, your Artifacts can focus on increasing both her Burst and Cryo DMG. Her Burst is going to be the main source of Cryo application in a reaction party, and you can also focus on her base Cryo DMG if she needs to dole out attacks herself. For reference, until I collected all 4 pieces of Blizzard Strayer for Ganyu, she had Noblesse + Blizzard Strayer. Even though she was a main DPS, she was still amazingly powerful. Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. You can only pull for Ganyu in Genshin Impact during the Adrift in the Harbor Character Event Wish. Just because Ganyu has amazing base stats in Genshin Impact does not mean that you can slack off on her weapons. Fortunately, there are a wide number of bows – both rare ones and readily available ones – that you can put on her to boost her natural firepower (icepower?). Because she is relatively easy to build and can get away with a middling Crit Rate if you have the right Artifacts on her, Ganyu is a fantastic character for players of all levels to have. Weapons that you can consider putting on your Ganyu include: Amos' Bow As per usual, a character's signature weapon is their best one, and Ganyu is no different. Ganyu is a squishy little gal and she does not noramlly benefit from a dedicated shielder. Amos' Bow increases the damage of her Charged Attack every 0.1 seconds the arrow remains in the air. It also takes into account the double hit from her Frostflake Arrow. So this bow pairs really well with how you should play your Ganyu if she's your main attacker. Polar Star Polar Star is Childe's signature weapon, but it's crazy good for all DPS bow users. It passively increases the damage from her Skill and Burst. You also gain stacks that greatly increase her ATK whenever you hit an enemy with a Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst. The Crit Rate sub-stat is a bit unfortunate depending on your Artifacts. But if you run a Freeze comp team such as Morgana, this is a fantastic bow. Aqua Simulacra Yelan's signature weapon is also a great general DPS bow. It increases the damage you deal by 20%, and its sub stat is Crit DMG. So even if you use it as a stat stick on Ganyu, it's more than fine. Another benefit to the Aqua Simulacra is that Ganyu does not need to be on the field to get the damage boost. So let's say she's the sub-DPS in a Freeze comp. Her Skill and Burst will still have that damage bonus even if someone else is active. Blackcliff Warbow The Blackcliff Warbow is a cheap and easily accessible weapon that works great in conjunction with Ganyu's low Crit Rate needs. As a 4-star weapon, it obviously does not have as major a Crit DMG passive boost as, say, Aqua Simulacra. But it's easier for most players to get, since you can find it in Paimon's Bargains every other month. Blackcliff Warbow's effect is fairly situational. But even if you're fighting against single enemies, it's a phenomenal stat stick. Windblume Ode The Windblume Ode was a limited weapon that you could only obtain from the Invitation of Windblume event way back in Version 1.4. Since its main use is its Elemental Mastery sub stat, you can get away with The Stringless as well. While Ganyu's own damage potential will heavily decrease as a result of putting EM weapons on her, she is a great Cryo applier in a Melt or Freeze comp with her Burst. Prototype Crescent The Prototype Crescent is also a great DPS bow for Ganyu, and it's more readily available than the Blackcliff Warbow. You can forge it in-game so it's easy to refine. Unlike all of the other bows on this list, the Prototype Crescent does require player skill. This is because you will not get the ATK or Movement Speed Bonus unless your Charged Attack hits an enemy's weak point (such as a Hilichurl's mask). Its sub stat is ATK %, so you will have to increase Ganyu's Crit DMG through her Artifacts, so you should choose whether you equip Prototype Crescent or Blackcliff Warbow depending on that. Genshin Impact is readily available for the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Players can only pull for Ganyu when the Adrift in the Harbor Character Event Wish is live in Genshin Impact. With its point-and-click turn-based combat and beautifully detailed HD-2D depictions of feudal China, Wandering Sword is an endearingly retro-like RPG. It features an interesting mix of the Final Fantasy-like ATB system and Fire Emblem tactics, and its upgrade system has its roots in the meridian system of Chinese medicine. However, its wordy tutorials, grueling difficulty, and fast-paced story-telling can leave some of its players in the dust in this early build.
The story of Wandering Sword follows Yuwen Yi. He is a sweet and kind young man who is the sole survivor of his caravan of friends. They all died following an attack from the Tianlong Gang. His client, a martial arts master, manages to save him. Yuwen Yi then recuperates under the care of the gruff Jiang Yinfeng and his peppy daughter Jiang Xiaotong. Upon recovering from the venom coursing through his body and encountering the various factions within China, Yuwen Yi sets out on a journey to master martial arts and fulfill a promise that he makes with Jiang Yinfeng. Wandering Sword ping-pongs between explaining way too much too fast, and explaining too little. Since I played the demo, I can understand if there is not a lot of time to spend on exposition. But because it's a demo, I thought it would be a bit more welcoming to its new players. It throws a lot of new terms and characters at you, and the tutorials are so quick and prevalent that it is really easy to forget what you just learned before you have to learn something else. Thankfully, the systems in the game are fairly simple. You can upgrade individual techniques, or unlock meridians to permanently boost stats. [gallery columns="2" ids="951526,951525" link="file"] Even with my rudimentary knowledge of wuxia films, I could definitely tell that Wandering Sword is trying to emulate that sort of feel. It definitely succeeds in that aspect! Everything from the plot and story beats to the character designs are reminiscent of the genre, and it plays all of the tropes with an earnest and infectious enthusiasm. Wuxia flicks and shows were never my thing, but playing this makes me want to explore what the genre has to offer. Its unique world comes to life in such a vibrant way thanks to the HD-2D graphics. Even idling about the various locales is a visual treat. However, the story definitely assumes that the player is familiar with common fictional sects. Characters pop into screen accusing so-and-so of being part of this Sect or that group that it was a headache trying to keep track everyone and their relationships. [gallery ids="951527,951528,951529" link="file"] Wandering Sword's demo is jam-packed with content, as well as promises of more. There are lots of side quests, and Yuwen Yi can also learn a variety of martial arts styles. I will say that the difficulty level of this game is surprisingly high. But I will add the disclaimer that I could have just been making the wrong decisions with how I chose to upgrade and equip my Yuwen Yi. Yuwen Yi has the HP and defense of a wet paper bag. It was a bit of a shock to see him get a power-up in the story that lets him damage enemies AND heal, only for the random mobs to kill him in the next turn because he straight up cannot take hits. The game's auto-save also does not kick in that often. So you have to make a habit of saving a lot. Between its beautiful graphics and environments, and an intriguing plot, Wandering Sword is a fun turn-based RPG. It is reminiscent of more old-school Chinese games I've seen in my youth. Granted, as a demo, it's still rough. There are some untranslated strings of text, for example. I also think an in-game glossary to keep track of everything would be useful. I refuse to believe that I'm the only person who cannot keep up. Even so, Yuwen Yi is a fun protagonist in the sense of he reminds me of a pathetic puppy, and seeing his journey through to the end is great motivation to push though. I am excited to see him develop from a weakling into China's most peerless martial artist. Wandering Sword will come out on Windows PC via Steam some time in 2023. Though Alhaitham is a character whose Artifacts needs are fairly simple, there is a lot more room for choice when it comes to his weapons. Depending on your party and your Artifacts, you can choose to prioritize Elemental Mastery or Crit stats for his sword. You can use his weapon to fill in any gaps in his stats, or boost his abilities as a Dendro DPS depending on the passive skill. Some weapons that you can consider on your Alhaitham in Genshin Impact are: Light of Foliar Incision As always, a 5-star character's best weapon is going to be whatever 5-star weapon on their banner. It's their signature weapon for a reason. The Light of Foliar Incision is a fantastic sword for almost any DPS character because of its passive Crit Rate and Crit DMG boost. For Alhaitham in particular, the Light of Foliar Incision increases his DMG depending on his Elemental Mastery. And as a Dendro character, Alhaitham is naturally going to have a high EM. There is a time limit on the DMG boost, but you will likely use Alhaitham as part of a rotation so the cooldown on this weapon should coincide with when you take him off the field. Mistsplitter Reforged Like the Light of Foliar Incision, the Mistsplitter Reforged is a fantastic DPS sword. You gain separate stacks depending on: using a Normal Attack (with Elemental DMG); using an Elemental Burst; and having less than 100% Energy. Each stack increases your Elemental DMG, and Mistsplitter passively increases the user's Elemental DMG. This plays very well with Alhaitham's playstyle, which focuses on dealing Dendro DMG with his attacks. Toukabou Shigure The Toukabou Shigure was a limited sword from the Akitsu Kimodameshi event. It is an Elemental Mastery weapon that increases Alhaitham's DMG against an enemy with the Cursed Parasol mark. This makes it a really good weapon against single enemies. On paper, the Toukabou Shigure's passive ability does not play well with the AoE Dendro DMG from Alhaitham's mirrors. In practice, it's perfectly fine. Black Sword Black Sword is available through the Gnostic Hymn, which means you have to spend real money to get it. However, if you have it, it's a pretty good and easily accessible sword for Alhaitham. It passively increases his Crit Rate, as well as increases his Normal and Charged Attacks. Alhaitham's kit revolves around those, so it's a great way to boost his damage potential. Iron Sting The final 4-star weapon that's good for Alhaitham is also one that revolves around his Elemental Mastery. Its passive ability also boosts his DMG whenever he deals Elemental DMG, which is pretty much all the time. It lacks the oomph of, say, Black Sword or even the Toukabou Shigure. However, it's more than serviceable, not to mention free. Because you can forget it, it's easy to raise it to R5. Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Sega announced a real-world tie in with the latest Like a Dragon/Yakuza game. California's Shin-Sen-Gumi restaurants will feature art and a special meal based on Like a Dragon: Ishin. (This is a nod to the fact that main character Ryoma Sakamoto joins the Shinsengumi in-game.) For two weeks, people will be able to take photos or get food inspired by the game. It will all begin on February 21, 2023. That's also the official launch date for the game. Shin-Sen-Gumi is a ramen and udon restaurant, which is exactly the sort of Like a Dragon: Ishin themed meal people will get. It will be a Samurai Meal Set with Hakata ramen, green tea, and either karaage chicken or takoyaki. There will also be one random coaster inspired by the game included with the order. A price for it wasn't mentioned. However, to take part, people will need to visit the locations in Fountain Valley, Gardena, Irvine, Little Tokyo, Rosemead, or Sawtelle. There will also be character standees present for photo opportunities, as well as other art from the game. As for in-game, Like a Dragon: Ishin follows in the series' footsteps and also includes food. People can heal Ryoma by heading to a restaurant to eat. There will also be a cooking minigame, in which Ryoma can take produce grown at his home's farm and make different sorts of dishes. Like a Dragon: Ishin will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 21, 2023, the same day the Shin-Sen-Gumi restaurant collaboration kicks off in California. In the days leading up to the playable debut of Alhaitham in Genshin Impact, the accusations of him being a Dendro version of Keqing flew around the Internet. Even after his official release, the slander did not die down. However, if one actually spends time building and playing him, it's clear that Alhaitham's similarities with Keqing start and end with his animations. He is very much of his own character. Yes, that is a bit of an ironic statement considering his heavy reliance on party comp to maximize his potential. To call Alhaitham "Dendro Keqing" is like calling Xiangling "Pyro Fischl," just because their Skills are turrets. Alhaitham is a fantastic reaction-based DPS. Granted, he can be difficult to pick up out of the gate. His damage really depends on whether or not you can set up a Deepwood Memories bot for him. It's not necessary but there's an obvious difference in his numbers. The rotation you run him with matters as well. Resource managing with his Mirrors – his meat and bread as a DPS – is also vital, especially because of the horrendously long cooldown on his Elemental Skill. Alhaitham is incredibly powerful once you figure him out, but until then, he can be underwhelming. What makes Alhaitham fantastic is that you really do not need Constellations. You also don't need to level up his Burst Talent! His Burst is a fast way to get Mirrors rather than an actual source of damage. So you can save your resources for other Talents or characters until you're bored. Moreover, his great Dendro application makes him good for Spread or Bloom/Hyperbloom teams. I have the world's worst luck when it comes to Artifacts. But even with my terrible Alhaitham, his powerful Dendro reactions could clear the latter Abyss floors. It's more thanks to my Xingqiu and Kazuha than anything, though. Figuring out a rotation for Alhaitham is probably the most difficult part of actually using him. Unlike characters like Xiao or Ganyu who can get away with literally anybody, Alhaitham's potential heavily relies on his teammates. I run a hodgepodge team of Spread and Hyperbloom reactions. But choosing one reaction and focusing on that is much better. Alhaitham also has no interruption resistance, so a shielder like Zhongli or Xingqiu (who coincidentally can help in a Bloom or Hyperbloom team) is ideal. Honestly, for how important your team comp is in maining Alhaitham, he has tons of support or sub-DPS options. [gallery columns="2" ids="951837,951838" link="file"] Now, some people may not care about the "meta" in a PvE game. That's totally fair. So how is Alhaitham as a character from the lens of a casual Genshin Impact player? Well, friend, I have great news: he's still fantastic. Alhaitham is fun to use, as well as fun to look at. His Elemental Skill CD is kind of painful if you want to use it to explore. But on the flip side, the animations for his Normal Attacks are so sexy. Plus, unlike Zhongli, Alhaitham's role as a DPS means you'll be seeing those animations a lot. I play with the Japanese audio, so I hear Yuichiro Umehara every time Alhaitham's out. This man could insult me and I'd thank him. So whether you're casual or hardcore, Alhaitham's got it going on. Now stop calling him Dendro Keqing. Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.
