Beginning today, new items from Atlus' beloved JRPG series Persona have now made their way into PSO2. In what is being dubbed the "Persona Paradox, this latest AC Scratch Ticket event for the highly-popular MMO brings new cosmetic items into the game from Persona 3Persona 4, and Persona 5. Ninjala Players Get In-Game Gift To Celebrate 4 Million Downloads

Ninjala

Gung Ho Entertainment's free-to-play Switch exclusive multiplayer game recently hit four million downloads from the Nintendo eShop. To celebrate, Gung Ho is giving out 100 Jala, Ninjala's in-game currency akin to V-Bucks.

When the game was originally revealed, many fans thought the game bore a striking resemblance to another successful Switch game; Splatoon 2Ninjala featured similarly cartoonish-looking visuals and third-person combat, but with enough differences to differentiate itself from Splatoon, like melee-based combat and different mobility options. Players in Ninjala play as ninja that have received their powers from a special kind of gum that also allows them to use special bubble gum weapons in a variety of different multiplayer game modes.

While 100 Jala might sound like a good deal to the uninitiated, you can actually get about 100 Jala for the equivalent of one dollar. The in-game currency also comes part and parcel with a Fortnite-style Ninjala Premium Pass, which costs 950 Jala. Coincidentally, you can buy 1,000 Jala for $9.99 in the in-game shop.

Originally released in June of this year, Ninjala released to moderate praise and a relatively positive reception from fans. Nintendo ended most support for Splatoon 2 months ago, so fans were likely looking for another well-supported multiplayer game. Nintendo fans have also been looking for worthwhile exclusives since Nintendo's output has been incredibly lackluster this year.

So far, Ninjala is proving to be a relatively large release in Nintendo's frustratingly mysterious lineup for 2020. While games like Ninjala continue to keep the Switch afloat alongside ports of games like Pikmin 3 and various indie games, fans are desperate for Nintendo to announce a new Switch game on the caliber of the other significant fall games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. While rumors of a 3D Mario collection and other blockbuster Nintendo games continue to persist, Nintendo has yet to give them any credence.

Atomic Heart Debuts New Trailer Featuring Melee Combat And a Boss Fight

Atomic Heart Logo

Atomic Heart, the mysterious first-person RPG from Russian developer Mundfish, dropped a new trailer showing off more of the game than we've ever seen before.

Mainly, the trailer focuses on combat in Atomic Hearts, which we've seen before, although only when the game was in pre-alpha last year. This new footage makes it plain that the game has made a huge amount of progress in that time. Starting at the beginning of the trailer, we get a look at one of Atomic Hearts' guns, a long two-handed rifle that closely resembles a tesla coil, which to be fair, isn't out of this game's scope. Sadly, the thing is never fired. Instead, most of the combat shown focuses on melee.

The first enemies that the game's protagonist faces are strange bugs, easily smashed with a two-handed melee weapon tipped with two rotating saw blades. Important to note besides how weighty the weapon seems is the game's UI. This is the first time we've seen how the game will balance melee combat – with a stamina meter. Each overhead swing takes a bit of stamina, and when there's none left, swings of the weapon aren't as fast and furious.

Of course, smashing bugs isn't that hard. Androids on the other hand, are much more difficult, as the trailer shows. Again, this isn't the first time we've seen combat against these robotic foes, but it has certainly improved. These enemies are still strong, knocking the protagonist around with every punch and kick. Satisfyingly, every attack that makes contact with the droid strips off some of its pale skin, leaving bare the components underneath. It's something akin to Doom Eternal's visual destruction of enemies, but so far it seems more intricate.

At the end of the trailer, we meet its namesake, a writhing mass of fur, sinew and rage apparently named Plyush. The name may come from the Russian word plyushch, meaning ivy. It would make sense, since like ivy, the creature stretches and twists, although instead of creeping up walls it attacks prey. The fight takes place in a large open area, full of tables and chairs primed to be tossed aside by the main character and the rampaging creature. The fight ends with our hero being torn apart, but not before we're shown an alternate mode for his melee weapon. Kicking down on a small pedal on the weapon's handle, the thing revs up like a chainsaw. Then, instead of swinging the blades toward Plyush, the handle is merely pointed at it and the blades fly off, tearing into the creature.

Like I said before, this is more of Atomic Heart than we're used to seeing. The game has mostly been a mystery, with updates few and far between. Originally slated for release in 2019, the game has been delayed multiple times. However, the very end of this trailer does show that the game isn't letting a long development cycle stand in its way. Along with releasing on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, Atomic Heart will be available on next-gen consoles. For more information on Atomic Heart check out the game's Steam page here.

Ragnarok Origin Will Be Launching In Japan At Some Point

Ragnarok Origin feature 2

GungHo published its latest financials on August 7, and revealed through it that Ragnarok Origin will be launching in Japan at some point. (Thanks to our Japanese peers at 4Gamer for pointing it out.).

GungHo mentions in the report "We have decided to to distribute Ragnarok Origin in Japan, and are currently making preparations for its launch". This means a Japanese version will be launching in the future, and more hope than an English version will be coming someday.

Ragnarok Origin launched exclusively in South Korea on July 7. A few weeks ago, the game's Development Team Leader Jung Il Tae mentioned during a press conference how the team will be focusing on making the game a success in South Korea rather than expanding to other territories. It seems like they'll be ready soon for broader horizons.

Ragnarok Origin is available on mobile platforms. Developed by Gravity, Ragnarok Origin is based on the original Ragnarok Online, upgrading its content and graphics, and is reputed to be the closest experience to the original you can get when it comes to recently released games. It's an MMORPG, uses the same classes as the original and everything, coupled with new game design ideas like an automatic mode. This is in order to make the whole experience less tedious and deter players from resorting to certain illegal means.

As someone who never tried out the original Ragnarok Online (but watched the early 2000s anime adaptation), I'm curious to see what this game is worth and would definitely would like to try it out myself. I could check out the Japanese version too when it launches assuming it's not region-locked.

You can read more details on the game and check out some gameplay through our past coverage. We'll be telling you for sure if an English version gets announced someday. In the meantime, maybe you should try out the Ragnarok The Animation anime.

Bartlow's Dread Machine Puts The Anachro-Satanists in Your Bullet Hell

Bartlow's Dread Machine, PC, Beep Games

Bartlow's Dread Machine from Beep Games exists in a world where an old-fashioned pub game makes a reappearance. The game mixes bullet-hell mechanics with an old-timey aesthetic that helps drive how the game plays. Beep Games recently brought the game into early access on PC before its September release.  Give some of the early gameplay a look in the footage below.

As you can see, Bartlow's Dread Machine begins with an all-time weird narrative. President Roosevelt has been kidnapped by Anachro-Satanists and its your job to go save him. Along the way, you'll fight against hordes of otherworldly baddies who have taken over the FBI. It's bonkers and, if the final game continues to up the ante, this one could be special.

Outside of the story, the team at Beep Games has done an excellent job of mixing gameplay and art style. By making the entire thing feel like a real-world pub game, they've enhanced what they do in the bullet hell genre. You can't just move around the environment willy-nilly. Your character is on a track, so you'll need to carefully plan out how you attack each fight.

These moments culminate in some spectacular set-pieces. From auto-scrolling fright to gigantic boss fights, Bartlow's Dread Machine has plenty of tricks up its sleeve. The one concern here is that they might run out of new things to do in the full release. Hopefully, Beep Game can keep players guessing throughout the entire run time.

Bartlow's Dread Machine is available now in early access on PC via Steam. The game will launch on PC and Xbox One this September.

Fall Guys — The 25 Best Fan-Made Skins We've Seen So Far

Fall Guys

Since the game's release last week on PS4 and PC, Fall Guys fan art has taken the internet by storm. Alongside the already confirmed crossovers including Hotline Miami and Half-Life, fans and corporations have taken it into their own hands to create possible future skins for its wacky Beans. After scouring Twitter and other parts of the internet, here are 25 of the best fan-made Fall Guys skins that we've seen.

Video Games:

1. Banjo (Banjo-Kazooie)

https://twitter.com/toastydraws/status/1293418057214431232

This awesome Banjo skin was designed by Twitter user toastydraws and it perfectly captures the Banjo style within Fall Guys' aesthetic. Sadly, this crossover is (most likely) never going to happen, at least while the game is exclusive to PS4/PC.

2. Crash Bandicoot

Slightly more achievable than Banjo, this Crash outfit was designed by LuchosFactory and would be a day one purchase for our Managing Editor Logan Moore.

3. Ubisoft Gang

This awesome foursome of Ubisoft characters was designed by ArtDeckNL and contains recognisable characters from Ubisoft's past. There's Pey'J and Jade from Beyond Good and Evil, Globox from the Rayman series and Ezio from Assassin's Creed, and they all would make great skins for the game.

4. Sans (Undertale)

This incredibly polished Sans, from Toby Fox's Undertale, is almost too realistic that it's scary. Either way, it's a fantastic piece of artwork by Twitter user KalaSketch and is certainly one that fans would like to see in the game.

5. Jin Sakai (Ghost of Tsushima)

https://twitter.com/MarwaYsn/status/1293197413482745856

Ghost of Tsushima has only been out for a few weeks now, but MarwaYsn has already mocked up a great potential collaboration between Sucker Punch and Fall Guys.

6. Hollow Knight

Fall Guys X Hollow Knight! from r/FallGuysGame

Jumping across to Reddit for this one – u/tsdan has designed a cracking Hollow Knight skin. Like Sans, this skin would be incredibly popular amongst the indie crowd.

7. Doom Slayer (DOOM)

Back to Twitter, and we have the DOOM Marine by celatres2 ready to slay his opponents.

8. Spyro the Dragon

Since we have Crash Bandicoot on here, we need Spyro the Dragon to go along with him. Thankfully, Arsbinbcc answered the call and gave us the Fall Guys crossover of our favourite purple dragon that we've been waiting for.

9. Ape Escape Trio

https://twitter.com/WhaddupNico/status/1293488387731664896

A slightly deeper cut than some of the others; WhaddupNico throws it back to the PS1 with this trio of Ape Escape characters.

10. Sam Porter Bridges (Death Stranding)

https://twitter.com/HoggysArt/status/1292526489246806022

HoggysArt nails the gruff Sam Porter Bridges cosmetic, even if the Bridge Baby Jellybean is slightly terrifying.

11. Palico and Kulu-Ya-Ku (Monster Hunter)

https://twitter.com/Hakuramen/status/1292282674728464386

Monster Hunter has a breadth of characters and monsters to choose from – Hakuramen decided to go for a Palico and a Kulu-Ya-Ku. Not the two I'd have chosen, but they're executed incredibly well, regardless.

12. Detroit: Become Human (Plus Dog)

https://twitter.com/stupidinspades/status/1292581325950660608

Detroit: Become Human recently hit a massive sales milestone and stupidinspades decided to celebrate by knocking it out of the park with skins based on three characters from the game; Connor, Hank, and his adorable dog, Sumo.

13. Loot Llama and Cuddle Team Leader (Fortnite)

Fortnite and Fall Guys are two juggernauts in the battle royale scene, so it remains to be seen whether they'd play nicely enough for a crossover event. In the meantime here's a Loot Llama and Cuddle Team Leader skin by adrotito to keep you ticking by.

14. Mortal Kombat

myown_fantasy gets kreative with a range of Mortal Kombat skins. Fall Guys Fatalities, anyone?

15. Metal Gear Trio

The first brand to make this list – Konami UK open themselves up to a Metal Gear collaboration!

TV, Film and Other Media:

16. Majin Buu (Dragon Ball Z)

The brilliant BossLogic steps up to the plate and delivers this fantastic Dragon Ball Z x Fall Guys Buu.

17. Dio Brando (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure)

Continuing with the anime theme – RandomPolishGuy nails Dio from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

18. Pickle Rick (Rick and Morty)

I'm a Pickle(ed Bean), Morty! DatDusty comes in with the Rick and Morty crossover we'd all love to see.

19. Avatar: The Last Airbender

Kinda scuffed cause I only have a mouse to draw on my PC but hope you like it from r/FallGuysGame

Reddit user u/4Zayo coming in hot with these great Avatar: The Last Airbender skins.

20. Star Wars

Star Wars x Fall Guys collaboration idea from r/FallGuysGame

From a galaxy far, far away u/bigcheese115 puts together 10 fantastic Star Wars skins including favourites like Yoda, Darth Vader and Princess Leia

Misc:

21. The Colonel (KFC)

Konami wasn't the only big name brand to get in on the action. KFC Gaming got some major traction on Twitter with their attempt at a Colonel Fall Guys skin.

22. Chuck E. Cheese

Wanting a slice of the action, Chuck E. Cheese got involved too. While slightly less artistic than KFC's attempt, you have to commend them for trying.

23. Magic Wiggly Twisty Fuzzy Worm Toy

Remember those weird worms that were attached to string that you'd run through your fingers when you were a child? No? Well, TommiCerberus does and he's incorporated them into the most bizarre entry on this list.

24. Tiki Party

I designed a couple of Hawaiian themed costumes, great for the hot summer. from r/FallGuysGame

Back to some semblance of reality – Reddit user u/JoTheWeirdo has created this lovely wholesome set of Hawaiian beans.

25. Variety Show

Ending on a high note – Twitter user motionlessani has designed a huge array of skins. There're his own unique designs that include a hazmat suit and a chocolate bar, then some more recognisable crossovers. These include Joker and Morgana from Persona 5 and WALL-E.

Honourable Mention:

26. DualShockers

Fall Guys Game PS4 Xbox One PC Free DualShockers Top Best

I would be remiss if I didn't include our very own Ben Bayliss' entry onto this list. The shiny little jellybean sports the DualShockers logo proudly on his tummy.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is available now, exclusively on PC and PS4; however the developers have confirmed that they would love to bring the game to Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. If you've not played the game yet, you can also read our review, where we scored it a whopping 9.5 out of 10.

The Last of Us HBO Series Will Have a "Jaw Drop" Moment That Was Excluded From the Game

For those of you who have been left with a gaping hole in your heart after completing The Last of Us Part 2, thankfully you have the TV adaptation of The Last of Us to look forward to. The award-winning historical drama Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin has given fans a few tidbits during an interview with the BBC, where he also indulged in some additional information on the development of the show.

The Last of Us HBO, which is being written by Craig Mazin and The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann, will adapt the game into a televised, episodic format and will tell the story of Joel and Ellie from the original game. While we don't know a whole lot at this point of exactly where the narrative will take viewers, Craig did offer some scraps and touched on that the show will include things that Naughty Dog had to leave out while developing their 2013 game."We're creating new [things] and re-imagining what is already there to present it for a different format," Mazin told the BBC's Must Watch. "Our goal is not to keep you in love with The Last of Us, but to make you fall in love with it again in a different way. It's a passive way of taking it in, instead of playing it, but you'll be experiencing more, with more characters in more ways."

If anyone enjoys shocking people it's Neil Druckmann so it's not a surprise to hear that Mazin became particularly excited about a moment that Druckmann had initially left out of The Last of Us. "Jaw drop – that's going in," Mazin says of his reaction to hearing the detail. "For sure, we have to do that. You couldn't stop me doing that. You will have to shoot me [to stop me] from doing that. And there were a few things like that." continuing "And there's quite a few things like that, where it's not like we just decided, 'wouldn't it be cool if Joel and Ellie got on motorcycles and confronted a motorcycle gang?' That's not what we do. There's no episodic nonsense here. This is all very much curated, but the things that are new and enhancing of the storyline we're doing are connected in organic, serious ways that I think fans of the game and newcomers alike will appreciate."

Unfortunately for us, Mazin didn't elaborate further on what this shocking moment would entail but going by The Last of Us Part 2, you can be guaranteed something crazy will happen and I can't wait for it. We will also get to hear more beautiful music by The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part 2 composer Gustavo Santaolalla who will no doubt be bringing a lot of emotion to the series. Currently, there's no premiere date for the series and no casting updates but that doesn't stop us from making up who we'd love to see cast in the show so drop a comment below while you're here on who you want to see play Joel or Ellie.

If you have had yet to experience the journey of The Last of Us Part 2, feel free to grab the game physically on Amazon to help support the site. The game was one of DualShockers' favorites of 2020; make sure to check out the official DualShockers (generally spoiler-free) review.

Ghost of Tsushima Artists Share a Ton of Behind-the-Scenes Concept Art and Renders

Ghost of Tsushima

With its launch last month, Ghost of Tsushima not only brought players into its serene and stunning Japanese world, but brought players through (essentially) the end of the of the generation for the PS4. The long-awaited open-world title was a critical and commercial success for Sony, with Sucker Punch pouring years of work and development into the game. If you can't get enough of Ghost of Tsushima, you can now take a look through a huge collection of the art that went into its creation.

A number of artists and designers that worked on Ghost of Tsushima have created an official Art Station page featuring concept art, illustrations, character renders, and more that went into the making of Sucker Punch's game.

Overall, there are dozens (if not hundreds) of illustrations and pieces of concept art that are worth checking out if you're a fan of Ghost of Tsushima. The illustrations especially of the game's landscapes and scenery are stunning in their own right, and the gallery gives a neat impression of the extensive behind-the-scenes work that went into the making of the game. You can take a look at a few select images from the page below, but I'd recommend checking out the entire gallery for yourself:

Our full review for Ghost of Tsushima went up last week, where we scored the game at an 8.0/10. Overall, our reviewer Michael Ruiz found Sucker Punch's open-world samurai epic to be "well-crafted" and "gorgeous," while admitting it isn't necessarily the most original take on an open-world game at this point. Having finished the game for myself last month, Ghost isn't perfect by any means, but it's a solid title in its own right and a fitting end to the line of first-party exclusives for the PS4.

Ghost of Tsushima is available now exclusively for PS4.

Paul Heyman Reveals WWE 2K Battlegrounds Modes in New Trailer

WWE 2k Battlegrounds

Paul Heyman, the self-described greatest advocate in WWE, took to the internet today and helped reveal some of the modes and features coming to WWE 2K Battlegrounds. The game is an arcade take on wrestling and the modes on offer reflect that. Sure, there are your basic exhibition matches, but the stakes are raised in things like King of the Battleground. Give Heyman's hype video a watch below for an overview of what's coming.

The flagship mode for most people looking to pick up WWE 2K Battlegrounds is likely the campaign mode. This single-player story mode tasks you (along with some help from Heyman and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin) with building up a brand new WWE promotion. You'll travel the world building up your stable of wrasslers. The story is told through comic book-like cutscenes. Which, if I'm being honest, makes me want a WWE visual novel. But I digress.

Outside of a somewhat promising career mode, fans have a plethora of multiplayer modes to hop into. Whether you're jumping into an 8-person King of the Battleground or taking your custom created Superstar to the top of the card in the Battleground Challenge mode, there's plenty to do.

Of course, all of these modes can only take the game so far. I'll reserve judgment for when I get my hands on the game. That said, the footage they've shown so far doesn't have me too excited. Hopefully, the "over-the-top action" feels great. However, given the state WWE games have been in for quite a while, it's fair to go in with a heavy dose of skepticism.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds launches September 18 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
