The creators of Blades of Fire have played a lot of videogames. Developer Mercurysteam has spent a decade-plus working on classic series like Castlevania and Metroid. As might befit that pedigree, its latest effort is a bone-deep rethinking of action RPG trends. From moment to moment, Blades of Fire plays unlike anything else. The God of War and Dark Souls influence is apparent, but the game also has subtler inspirations. The swinging positionality of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, for one, and the gonzo action and stilted earnestness of Dragon's Dogma for another. In an era of perfunctory crafting systems, Blades of Fire's crafting alters every swing of every sword. However, despite its relentless cleverness, it can't help but feel mundane and overdrawn. It lacks the verve of the genre's best because it is so focused on its influences, resulting in a game that can feel lifeless and self-conscious. Blades of Fire might be a weird original, but it's never quite weird enough.

First-person shooters are some of the most immersive games you can play on PC, sliding you into the boots of a range of characters as they go to war, fight zombies, explore space, and go on all kinds of adventures. Whether you're dashing around, landing shots at 100 miles per hour, or you're slowly descending into the headquarters of criminal gangs, these FPS games are some of my favourites, and I heavily recommend adding them to your Steam library while they're discounted in the Fanatical sale.

It's the eternal Command and Conquer quandary: GDI or Nod? Putting aside questions of which faction is good, which is evil, the Global Defense Initiative often seems to be better on the offensive, but if you want to dig in and sit behind your Obelisks, it's Kane's team all the way. This is part of what makes C&C one of the all-time RTS greats. Both sides are unique, and feel totally different to play, but they're nevertheless carefully balanced. Inspired by Westwood's classics, Tempest Rising feels like the closest we have to a new Command and Conquer. But balancing between its two factions, the GDF and the Dynasty, has so far been a little askew. Thanks to a big new update, that's all changed.

Night City remains one of the greatest and most immersive videogame metropolises ever, and there are hopes and expectations that in Cyberpunk 2077's upcoming sequel, we'll be able to explore even more locations in and around it. Phantom Liberty already gave us a taste of that excitement. Plus, the corners of Night City we already know and love should look more visually impressive than ever, and will have likely evolved a fair bit, too. But CD Projekt Red appears to be feeling in a particularly ambitious mood, as the sequel will not only see us return to Night City, but seemingly to an all-new city as well. That's according to comments made by Mike Pondsmith, the original creator of the Cyberpunk universe.

Resident Evil 4. Dead Space. Oblivion. We are still in the age of the remake and the remaster, when beloved, older games are thrown back into the present-day rotation with visual upgrades, tweaked mechanics, and modern conveniences. It looks as though the forthcoming Intel Core Ultra 300 gaming CPU lineup will require you to buy yet another new motherboard, as the company moves to its Nova Lake architecture. Following speculation that the Intel Core Ultra 300 range would be based on a refresh of the Arrow Lake architecture currently used in Core Ultra 200 chips, the latest rumor states that these new chips will actually still use the current 200-series branding.

Historically, Intel has sometimes pushed its model numbers up a generation when it launches a refresh of an existing CPU architecture. For example, the Core i9 14900K is based on a refresh of the same Raptor Lake architecture as the Core i9 13900K. However, it looks as though the company is going to make a clean break when it launches Nova Lake with Core Ultra 300 branding, with these new chips rumored to be using a new LGA1954 socket.

When is the Black Ops 6 Season 4 release date? The follow-up to Season 3 is an exciting one: sweeping changes came to both the multiplayer and the battle royale portions of the game, and we're hoping that the next update will refine that, while keeping up the pace with the wonderful new additions.

Season 3 was a big one: not only did we get a new Zombies map, Shattered Veil, but a host of new game modes, as well as three new guns. While it's true that the headline addition with Season 3 was Verdansk's return, there's also been a lot to love in Black Ops 6. Cars and guns. In Project Zomboid, these are simultaneously your best friends and your worst enemies. While it's true that you won't last long on foot, whenever you go driving, the noise of your engine attracts the undead, and - even though there's nobody else on the road - it's inevitable that you end up smashing into a parked car, a roadblock, or a tree. Likewise guns. Without a silencer, all it takes is one shot and the entirety of Knox Country's former population is on its way to gorge on your neck. What are the best Oblivion Remastered mods? Closing shut the jaws of Oblivion is a herculean task. While the Virtuos team has smashed its modern recreation of Cyrodiil out of the park, there are always ways to make your journey a little easier and enhance the devs' immaculate work a little more. It's modding time, hero.

While Bethesda says Oblivion Remastered doesn't officially support mods, this is most likely an acknowledgement that it won't receive a Creation Kit like its open-world cousin, Starfield. It's a toughie, after all, considering the remaster runs a hybrid of the original Gamebryo engine and Unreal Engine 5. The good news is that, while the Daedra works hard, the modding community works harder, and some brilliant mods have already surfaced.

What are the best Minecraft texture packs? These colorful and game-altering texture packs can make your world a new experience. Of course, Minecraft's low-fi charm is part of the draw, but texture packs range from subtle changes to an all-over reskin, so you can choose just how much you want to leave vanilla Minecraft behind. While some mods can alter Minecraft gameplay, and shaders change the quality and style of the graphics, texture packs allow you to add a new skin to existing blocks. I recently stumbled on Erostasis, a brilliant and filthy cybernetic microgame in which you are a wiry meatpuppet created to, aha, satisfy the urges of an exceedingly backed-up bionic starship. Over the course of a very busy 20 minutes or so, you visit various self-aware ship systems and play out their kinks. The writing is clattery, theory-drenched and sensual, set to moaning electronica. The visuals are a gunky collage of seeming porno and industrial stock footage. It's glorious. Probably don't play it where members of the public can see.

Anyway, if I were to choose a polar opposite of that game it might be new metroidvania Mio: Memories In Orbit, which also takes place on a living ship and is as elegant and videogamey and serenely sexless as Erostasis is subversive and debauched. I really like the looks of Mio, too, for wholly different reasons, and I'm tickled pink that publishers Focus Entertainment have managed to email me about it while I'm still recovering from my Erostasis experience.

Just last month, he accidentally shared the fact that Borderlands 4 was getting an earlier than expected release date ahead of an official announcement; he put that one down to time zones. Have you seen Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream knocking about? I can't seem to find it. It's an upcoming adventure game about some sneaky urchins from a fictional Scandilike country in the 1900s. We've previously described it as "a bit Dunwall and a bit Desperadoes". I got to play a short preview build, and being offered its toylike city from a top-down perspective made me eager to explore and find its many collectible artworks. It's a lavishly animated and handsomely modeled piece of work. But, well, its approach to stealth veers bland and predictable. I don't know if sunkissed tiles and cobblestone alleyways are enough to forgive what so far appears to be an entire game based on the derided "instafail stealth section". But sit down, we can talk about it.

After many months of dogged campaigning in the face of zealotry, atrocity and propaganda about fake WMDs, the heroic avatars of the Illuminate have finally invaded Super-Earth. In just a few short days, the humans and their fanatical and clownish "Helldiver" enforcers may be wiped from the face of the galaxy, ushering in a brave new era in which the surviving bots, bugs and squids link clamps, mandibles and tentacles and dance around singing. You ever hear an Illuminate sing? Literally mind-blowing.

All of which is to say that Helldivers 2's Heart Of Democracy update is upon us, following teasers earlier this month. It lets the game's sordid playerbase of perfidious human stormtroopers blow the shit out of some ace nano-tech molluscs on the streets of planet Earth. The new Earth maps are also full of NPC human soldiers who can be left to fight for themselves or enlisted as cannon fodder. There are crowds of panicking civilians, too. The PlayStation blog post announcing the update's release suggests that you'll be "punished" for accidentally shooting them, but that's not the impression given by the below orgiastic trailer.

Kingdom Hearts Art Museum Trading Cards Debut in August

Square Enix announced a collection of Kingdom Hearts Art Museum trading cards, which will launch in Japan on August 30, 2025. A single pack of six cards will cost 550円 (~$4). It is also possible to buy a box of 20 packs for 11,000円 (~$76). As a reminder, these and other items aren't up for pre-order in the US storefront, as Square Enix paused purchases as a result of the Trump tariffs.

The company offered a bit of a breakdown of the different types of cards in the set. There are 228 total. Some are considered normal types, and it seems there are 93 like that in the set. Others have foil effects. These can be broken down into heart, premium, and kingdom ones, with rares available mong them, and the list and images also note there are two secret, special cards.

The official product pages on the Square Enix eStore already shared images of the cards we can expect to see. Many focus on main characters like Sora, Donald, Goofy, Riku, and Kairi, with Sora, Donald, and Goofy's special forms for different worlds showcased. Enemies appear too, like Organization XIII members. There are also cards that have Disney movie and show characters on them and some Final Fantasy character cards.

Here's how all the shared images of the cards look:

The Kingdom Hearts Art Museum trading cards will debut in Japan on August 30, 2025, and it's unknown when we might see them worldwide.

Shift Up 2025 IR Presentation Mentions Stellar Blade Sequel

Shift Up shared the May 16, 2025 IR Presentation pdf on its official site in English, and it mentioned a Stellar Blade sequel is on the way. In the Strategy section of the presentation deck, it appears in the IP expansion area. [Thanks, Shinobi602!]

The IP expansion section features all three of Shift Up's current and upcoming games. In the Stellar Blade section, there are two sections noted. One mentions "platform expansion." This refers to the PC port, which debuts on June 11, 2025. There is also a sequel mentioned in the same section. No date is shown, but the timeline at the bottom started in 2024 with Stellar Blade PS5 and Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, then ended in 2027 with the upcoming Project Witches title mentioned at the end of the timeline.

Here's the image from the May 16, 2025 Shift Up IR Presentation:

In the deck, the company also pointed out a timeline of Stellar Blade updates. This didn't hint at any future additions for the title, however. The last items mentioned there are the PC port and NIKKE DLC debut both happening in June 2025.

While Shift Up hasn't discussed a Stellar Blade sequel yet, we have seen more details about the PC port and NIKKE DLC. A trailer highlighted PC version features. As for the add-on, the company confirmed Scarlet will be in it as a boss and Volt, Liter's dog, will be a shopkeeper.

Stellar Blade is available on the PS5, the PC version debuts on June 11, 2025, and a sequel is apparently in development.

Gundam GQuuuuuuX Figures Dance in 'Plazma' Stop Motion Video

Kenshi Yonezu and Kenta "Animist" Shinohara released a new Gundam GQuuuuuuX stop motion video that features figures of the three main characters dancing to the anime's opening theme song "Plazma." It features the Bandai Namco Figuarts minis of Amate "Machu" Yuzuriha, Nyaan, and Shuji Ito

Here's the stop motion Gundam GQuuuuuuX "Plazma" video Kenshi Yonezu shared on May 2025, which shows all three of the characters' figures dancing one after the other. Each of them has a moment dancing, before all three perform. We can see how, even with the limitations of the Figuarts minis, Animist used all parts in the choreography.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Up4-GkIy13I

This is actually the second one of these videos created and shared by the two. The first again featured the theme song. However, in that one the Bandai Namco gunpla kit for the gMS-Ω GQuuuuuuX appeared as the dancer.

In case you missed it, you can see the full music video for the Kenshi Yonezu Gundam GQuuuuuuX song "Plazma" below. It first appeared for the Beginning movie that compiled the first three episodes of the show and appeared ahead of its official launch, but remained the opening theme after.

Gawr Gura in Holoidle

holo Indie has revealed Kindred Interactive's Holoidle as a new Hololive-themed idle game coming to PC via Steam in June 2025. The now retired Gawr Gura will also appear as a playable character in Holoidle.

The game will have three playable characters in total. The other two Hololive members, besides retired Vtuber Gawr Gura, will be Calliope Mori and Houshou Marine.

After selecting a Vtuber, the player will be tasked to tend to her by doing things like cooking meals and patting her head. The Vtuber will regularly generate Holocoins, which the player can spend to obtain equipable Collab Cards. Just like other idle games, Holoidle will have a Rebirth feature where the player can restart the game with more buffs while retaining all collected Collab Cards.

holo Indie has also published a new trailer featuring Holoidle on its YouTube channel:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCWMvIFJQXY

Gawr Gura had already graduated from Hololive Production on May 1, 2025, and is thus no longer active. However, by having a formal graduation event (as opposed to a contract termination like Uruha Rushia), fans creating Hololive indie games can still include Gura in the roster.

Meanwhile, Calliope Mori and Houshou Marine are still active as of May 2025. Marine also recently celebrated a new milestone of reaching 4 million subscribers on May 5, 2025.

Holoidle will be available worldwide for PC via Steam in June 2025.

Preview: Raidou Remastered Offers a More Active SMT Experience

The original Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs the Soulless Army came out worldwide right before Persona 3 launched and basically showed a larger audience how incredible Shin Megami Tensei games could be. As a result, it ended up not getting the response it probably deserved. Now it's 2025 and SMT is practically mainstream thanks to the success of entries like Persona 4, Persona 5, and SMT V, and this spin-off series is getting a second chance with Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. I'm so glad, because it seems like the remaster really emphasizes how entertaining it can be.

We've seen different types of devil summoners throughout the SMT mainline and spin-off series, and one of the interesting things about Raidou Remastered is it starts with someone who knows exactly what they're getting into. Things begin with a person from the Kuzunoha Village going through tests to see if they are worthy of becoming the next person to take on the name of Raidou, allowing them to serve the village and country of Japan by protecting the capital from malicious demons and ill-intentioned individuals willing to use the supernatural in unscrupulous ways. It's a tutorial to introduce each element of combat, while also get someone accustomed to the action-RPG where our avatar fights alongside two summoned demon allies. The combat system feels tight and responses, and even during my brief preview session I could find and buy Skill Books to add more spells to my initial demons' movesets.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ertwE1ZSY8&ab_channel=OfficialATLUSWest

It's this combat system that feels quite different from installments like SMT V, Persona 5, and Devil Survivor. Turn-based is absent here. Directly controlling your demon allies? Nah, you're mainly just suggesting or letting them do their thing. Raidou himself can use light and strong sword attacks, with even aerial and plunging ones being an option, pull out a gun for a succession of shots, and use elemental magic. Even capturing is more active than in other installments. You'll need to run up during a fight to attempt to Confine a foe with a flurry of button mashing, with your level and expertise determining if it's even possible or you have enough room for a foe. Loyalty ends up being a factor and mattering, with demon allies gaining it alongside experience as you fight together, allowing for bonuses once that relationship is maxed out by working alongside each other.

Demons also feel like partners in another way. As part of his new responsibilities as Raidou Kuzunoha XIV, he works at Narumi Detective Agency. His boss there, Shouhei Narumi, works with Yatagarasu, who manages agents like the Kuzunoha. As such, the cases taken tend to involve demonic involvement. This means that the story portion does involve investigating cases. Calling these demon allies to appear alongside you to perform actions, such as Ukobach to Ignite passion or fury in a person to get them to reveal details or Alp to read minds, or to switch control over to one of them for a Solo Investigation segment to access an area that Raidou can't. Some especially relevant demons I encountered while going hands-on with the game, like characters we'll encounter, feature voice acting.

My time with Raidou Remastered ended up being something of a limited session that involved only initially seeing what it's like to fight alongside demons, take part in a larger investigation, and explore the counterpart of the Capital in the Dark Realm. This is a space between the human and demonic realms, and it's something of a counterpart filled predominantly with hostile demons. (Friendly ones are there too, as a more amicable Pyro Jack and Alp appeared in my first journey into the area.) It serves as the dungeon experience, mirroring the real world and offering challenges to overcome with the right demon types or boss fights. Save points appear often here, and the quicksave feature is present both here and in most other parts in the "real" world.

Raidou Remastered seems like it will be a promising remaster from Atlus, as well as an opportunity to introduce a larger audience to an interesting Shin Megami Tensei game. From my early hands-on experience with it, I noticed it swiftly gets people introduced to the character, demons, world, and combat system. From there, it starts to set up a mystery while showing exactly why the Raidou Kuzunohas who apparently appeared over the years matter. It'll be interesting to see how people respond once it drops in June 2025.

Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army will come to the Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on June 19, 2025

Ultron in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals' massive roster of playable characters will add a highly intelligent supervillain AI inside of an indestructible robot body in season two, and players can't wait.

One thing lacking right now in Marvel Rivals' roster is playable villains. The characters you can play as are mostly heroes and some who blur the line, like The Punisher or Venom, with a handful of villains such as Magneto, Loki, and Hela.

Emma Frost, season two's launch hero, is another character who blurs the line between villain and hero depending on the comic arc. Thankfully, a bona fide villain is also coming in season two, and the excitement is palpable.

Here's what we know so far about Ultron's arrival in Marvel Rivals, which is rapidly approaching.

Ultron Marvel Rivals release date

Ultron will officially be coming to Marvel Rivals in the midseason update on Friday, May 30, 2025.

The Flower of Krakoa battle pass for season two is counting down until July 11 (exactly three months after the start date of season two), which means season three should begin then, and that lands Ultron and season 2.5's tentative arrival date towards the end of May.

Ultron abilities in Marvel Rivals

Screenshot by Destructoid

Ultron's abilities are also not yet official, but his leaked kit teases abilities centered around healing, making it seem he will be a Strategist in Marvel Rivals. But nothing is final until the hero is officially unveiled in the next few months.

Keep in mind that all of this is subject to change for his full release, but here's what Ultron's leaked kit describes as far as his tentative abilities go:

Ability Description Button input
Encephalo-Ray Unleash a burning energy beam. LMB
Imperative: Firewall Summon drones to grant bonus health to allies within range, centered on himself and the ally marked by Imperative: Patch. RMB
Imperative: Patch Command a giant drone to follow an ally, constantly healing allies in its radius, with additional healing for the designated ally. E
Dynamic Flight Fly quickly in the direction of movement and then enter a free-flight mode. Shift
Rage of Ultron
(Ultimate)
Summon Ultron Drones to fire Encephalo-Rays, damaging enemies or healing allies. Q
Algorithm Correction
(Passive)
Hold space to fall slowly. Space

As it should, Ultron's kit is centered around firing beams and summoning his drones to assist him on the battlefield, a crucial part of the villain's identity. This version of Ultron, however, may be different than the one that invades Krakoa, as in-game lore is hinting at a new version of Ultron designed by Tony Stark (the one we see in Krakoa and the original one from the comics was made by Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man), and could be one of the "good guys," but that remains to be seen thus far.

We'll know more when Ultron comes out later this month in Marvel Rivals. Stay tuned.

This article will be updated with more information whenever it becomes available.

Key art of a stylized battle where the player character attacks a monster.

This year has brought quite the mixed bag, and with $80 games on our doorstep, disappointing AAA releases, and GTA 6's lengthy delay, it can be fairly easy to feel pessimistic about 2025. But in reality, this year has spoiled us.

We've had a series of bangers this year, from solo indie hits to shockingly good AA titles. 2025 has blessed us with more great games than we can hope to play before the new year hits us.

Now, there's a fair bit of negativity going around with looming $80 games, disappointing AAA releases, and so many YouTube videos sowing panic about "the coming gaming crash." And so, here I am to spread a healthy dose of hope and positivity. I mean, it's been one amazing year so far.

Unmissable games you may have missed

A game character tends his plants in Schedule 1.
Image via TVGS

If you've been living under a rock, you may not have heard about Schedule 1, a game all about dealing... well, happiness in small doses. You grow your own goods, mix your own products, and try to make customers of the entire town.

It's a real blast with a healthy dose of humor, starting with the demo itself. It's called a free sample, for crying out loud. That's hilarious!

But what really impressed me about Schedule 1 isn't the addictive gameplay, nor is it the quirky yet easy-on-the-eye art style; it's the fact that it was made by one person. It's one of the anomalies that one guy made in his basement, and it just took off, and I love to see those.

Player characters battle the Lancelier Alpha in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Image via Kepler Interactive

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 could be one of the best games we've seen in decades, instantly blasting to the top of many gamers' all-time-favorite lists. It's on mine, too, but Final Fantasy 7 still holds the top spot for me. It'll be a while before Expedition 33 builds up the nostalgic value to knock FF7 off the personal top spot.

It's a turn-based RPG that plays more like an ARPG than most ARPG's, with fast-paced combat complete with dodges and parries, and it's a blast. The art style is absolutely gorgeous, and the most surprising thing here? It was created by a small team of developers and is not AAA as you would think—but AA.

Even so, it punches far above its weight and blew every single AAA release this year out of the water. It's certainly the best game to launch since Baldur's Gate 3, and looks set to claim GOTY 2025 with GTA 6's delay.

But then we also have Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, which I honestly enjoyed more than Expedition 33 (I haven't progressed all that far in the latter, though). It's more gritty, more real, and just more niche. If you've been on the hunt for a game all about punishing yourself, KCD 2 is probably for you.

Especially now that Hardcore mode has become available. The premise, if you're unfamiliar, is you're a former peasant working as a bodyguard to a stuck-up (yet lovable) noble. But it's not your typical hero game. You start to feel invincible at times, but then a random bandit stops you on the road, bashes your brains in, and reminds you that you're just a peasant after all. Hope you remembered to save.

I haven't played Split Fiction, I'm still trying to get my partner to help me beat the toolbox in It Takes Two (helpful tips in the comments below, please!). But I've seen the gameplay, I've heard the reports from colleagues, and if you have a gamer significant other, it's an unmissable title.

Now's about time I circle back to the title and make it all make sense. I started with making deals, as promised, but when do we bust dealers? Enter The Precinct. It's another small indie hit (and it's a small game). If there's one game on this list you likely missed, it's this one.

A player walks through the police station in The Precinct.
Image via Kwalee Games

You play as Nick Cordell, a rookie in the Averno City Police Department. It's your job to catch criminals, from gang members to vandals, and put them behind bars. Or, you know, just outright blast away at them.

You'll have to follow police procedure, though, so the shotgun isn't the answer to everything. Sometimes the taser gets the job done; other times, a plain old tackle is enough.

It's a high-up free-roam camera that represents GTA 3 if it retained GTA 2's camera, and it's actually quite pretty. It's a great little game, and yes, you can bust drug deals in this. So there we are, we've come full circle.

So, to escape the fears that the gaming industry is about to collapse, why not sit back and enjoy some of the above titles while everything burns around us? Because one thing's for sure, once you've played the above (way under $80) games, you'll know the truth. The gaming industry isn't "dying," it's merely shifting.

While some AAA studios work on figuring out more ways to grab extra dollars from your wallet, indies and AAs are hard at work actually making the games we want to play, for less.

What did I miss? Let me know in the comments below. I'm especially curious to hear about sleeper hits you guys have uncovered that we'd be happy to shed some light on.

AI Darth Vader in Fortnite

If you need help securing a win in Fortnite, hiring an NPC from around the island is a great way to go. One of the most unique allies you can get is AI Darth Vader, a character who fully talks and fights at your side.

AI Darth Vader is an NPC unlike any other, since you can freely talk with him about whatever you want. He's a fun and helpful character to have at your side, so here's how to find and talk to AI Darth Vader in Fortnite.

AI Darth Vader location in Fortnite

AI Darth Vader only has one spawn location in Fortnite, which is at Vader Samurai Solitude. He essentially replaced the Darth Vader Samurai boss who used to spawn there and can be found in every match wandering around this vast location.

His precise spot is marked by a Darth Vader mask icon on the map. It's a black icon that can sometimes be easy to miss, especially in comparison to Captain Phasma's shiny marker, so scan carefully for it. This icon is always displayed near the bottom left corner of the island since that's where Vader Samurai Solitude is.

AI Darth Vader location in Fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid. Remix by Destructoid

If you previously ran into AI Darth Vader elsewhere, it's because he initially had three different spawn locations on the island. The three spots you used to be able to visit to search for him were as follows.

  • A landing pad east of Foxy Floodgate and west of Seaport City.
  • A landing pad near the base of the tall, snowy mountain east of Canyon Crossing and west of Masked Meadows.
  • A landing pad near the very north end of Vader Samurai Solitude.

His ability to appear at any of these three spots was removed. Now, he only appears at Vader Samurai Solitude, where he's heavily guarded by lots of Stormtroopers. The only time you'll run into him elsewhere on the island is when he's been recruited by another player.

How to talk to AI Darth Vader in Fortnite

There are a few key steps you have to take before you can talk with Darth Vader in Fortnite. To chat with the iconic Sith Lord, you need to do the following:

  • Find Darth Vader. He wanders around the vast Vader Samarai Solitude location quite a lot, so it can be a bit tricky to find him. He's generally near the very north end of this POI.
  • Defeat Darth Vader in battle. The nightly Sith Lord enjoys a good challenge, so to get him on your side, you first need to prove yourself worthy. Take him down in combat to unlock him as a recruitable NPC.
  • Head through Darth Vader's portal. Once you bear him, proceed through his special Training Rift Gate to officially unlock him as an ally.
  • Look for the special Darth Vader button. It can be found near the right middle edge of your screen, right above your inventory.
  • Press the talk button. It varies by platform, but it's always displayed near the right middle edge of your screen. You can change the button in your settings by navigating to the Conversational AI option under the controls page if you don't like what it's set to.

Talk to Darth Vader button Fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you're playing with allies, the entire squad has access to this feature as long as AI Darth Vader remains alive as a hired NPC. This means anyone on your team can freely chat with him as the match progresses.

What can AI Darth Vader talk about in Fortnite?

AI Darth Vader is trained by Google's Gemini 2.0 Flash model and ElevenLabs' Flash v2.5 model, so he's ready and willing to talk about most topics in Fortnite. He can offer you advice about what to do next, answer questions you may have, and respond to any silly jokes or queries you may present.

When I recruited AI Darth Vader, I talked to him about all kinds of different topics, including Star Wars lore, jokes, favorite movies, combat strategies, and more. He'll respond to just about anything you have to say.

According to reliable members of the Fortnite leak community, there are also some topics he's been programmed to avoid or discourage. All of these topics are as follows.

  • Topics related to V-Bucks and gambling
  • Romantic relationships
  • Swearing and offensive words
  • Real-world violence
  • Hate speech
  • Harming children
  • Quoting more than two lines from media that isn't Star Wars or Disney
  • Various sensitive topics

https://twitter.com/HYPEX/status/1923314247519420468

There's plenty more to get done around the island now that you have a powerful new ally by your side. Next, consider working on completing Jar Jar Binks' story quests, unlocking General Grievous, and using a telephone booth to don a disguise.

SGF 2025 logo art

Summer Game Fest (my heart still wants to call it E3) is back again for another year of world premieres, game trailers, and ads. And I can't wait.

Geoff Keighley's showcase of the upcoming year of games is set for a big showing this year, especially considering the second half of 2025 is largely still shrouded in secrecy when it comes to upcoming releases. This means that the live stream may be chock-full of some actually huge news.

Because of the uncertainty, this is also one of the more exciting years for Summer Game Fest. Literally just about anything could show up during the show, and you know Mr. Keighley will be brimming with hype to reveal what he's got up his sleeve, whether it's truly groundbreaking or not.

Here's everything you need to know about Summer Game Fest 2025.

When is Summer Game Fest 2025?

The main SGF showcase is just the beginning. Following the main show, Day of the Devs will also broadcast on June 6 at 6pm CT, and then the Xbox Games Showcase and Outer Worlds 2 Direct will take place at 12pm CT on Sunday, June 8.

Even more events will be added to the schedule in the coming days, including other indie showcases, and potentially a PlayStation State of Play or showcase to show off what Sony has cooking.

As I mentioned above, the uncertainty of 2025's calendar at this point means that this showcase will feature some surprises, some release date confirmations, and all sorts of rumors both coming to fruition and falling by the wayside.

Rumors for what could be shown this year include everything from Resident Evil 9 to Marvel's Wolverine, but a lot of any impending news has been largely kept under wraps so far. But there is always time for leaks ahead of the show, so stay tuned.

Maelle scene in Expedition 33

Silly or even "stupid" ideas don't lead to poor outcomes by default, especially if you look at the developers who created Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

In a recent heart-to-heart chat on the Pirate Software YouTube channel, the host had an hour-long session with Guillame Broche and Nicholas Maxson-Francombe. Broche is the CEO and Creative Director of Sandfall Interactive, while Maxson-Francombe is the Art Director at the same studios. The duo are key figures behind the success of Clair Obscur Expedition 33, and they revealed some interesting insights into how the game was developed.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 developers are always open to many ideas

As of writing, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has been a commercial and critical success. Whether it's the sales figure or the Metacritic ratings, the turn-based RPG has managed to delight one and all. It's quite easily among my top three games played in 2025, and for many good reasons.

Whether it's the main story, the voice acting, or the in-game mechanics, Expedition 33 stands out. When we talk about successful projects in life (not just video games), they usually involve grand plans, followed by strong execution. As Broche explained, most of the content and the in-game mechanics came from "stupid" and "silly ideas".

Key art of a stylized battle where the player character attacks a monster.
Image via Kepler Interactive

Most of these ideas were just tried out to see how they would work. In the end, these very ideas have made Expedition 33 a memorable experience, and a potential GOTY contender as things stand. According to Broche, this is the best way to make "cool content" that others might not even dare to think of in the first place.

Broche also explained how he and the team at Sandfall Interactive are always open to new suggestions.

I have always wondered about how Clair Obscur Expedition 33 may have turned out had Sandfall Interactive followed the tried-and-tested formulas. It didn't take long for me to understand that this isn't your typical turn-based game, as the core gameplay is well complemented by all the additional aspects.

We live in a stage when many AAA titles fail miserably as players get bored quite easily. Expedition 33, on the other hand, never took the boring formula, and the team under Broche's leadership ended up trying out new things. To think that these ideas started as "stupid" and "silly" makes it even more remarkable.

While there won't be a DLC or expansion for the game in the foreseeable future, the team at Sandfall Interactive is working hard to improve the base game.

Fortnite Frosted Skyline Aurora wrap

There are few things more satisfying than getting free items in Fortnite. With thousands of paid cosmetics and Battle Pass exclusive content every season, grabbing free wraps, skins, and tools here and there makes the grind worth it.

This time, you can get your hands on two free Frosted Skyline wraps to customize your in-game weapons with some fancy, shining effects. Here's how to redeem the free Frosted Skyline Pack wraps in Fortnite.

How to redeem free Frosted Skyline Pack wraps in Fortnite

Below is a complete step-by-step to unlocking Fortnite's Frosted Skyline wraps:

  1. Exit out of Fortnite if it's open.
  2. Head to Epic Games' storefront or desktop launcher and log in to your account.
  3. Search Fortnite in the game search bar at the top of your screen.
  4. Select Add-Ons before picking the Frosted Skyline Pack.

After placing your order, you'll automatically receive the Aurora Royale and Frozen Spikes Wraps for free, which you can use in future Fortnite matches.

How to use Frosted Skyline wraps in Fortnite

After downloading the Frosted Skyline pack, open Fortnite to claim both wraps. Now, you can change your wraps any time by heading into your Locker, scrolling down to Wraps, and searching for Frozen Spikes or Aurora Royale.

Here, you can change the following guns into your preferred wrap:

  • Assault Rifle
  • Shotgun
  • SMG
  • Sniper
  • Pistol
  • Misc
  • Special

Since Fortnite lets you customize different weapons and item types, you can equip one wrap on a few guns and the other on the rest. Similarly, if you have another wrap you like and don't want to replace it, you can use Frozen Spikes or Aurora Royale on a few options and leave one or two weapons unchanged. It's ultimately up to you how you customize your loadout, but at least you have some extra cosmetic options completely for free.

Alongside weapon wraps, you can also find character outfits, back bling, lobby loading screen splash art, and other cosmetics to turn Fortnite into a mashup of styles and collaboration celebrations. You can even find other free items like Chapter 6, Season 3's First Order Stormtrooper skin if you unlocked it, or various wraps you obtained in past seasons.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Hoth

That Star Wars, it's so hot right now. At least, it sure seems that way thanks to a recent spike in player count for an eight-year-old FPS game.

Star Wars: Battlefront II launched way back in 2017, but it's gotten quite popular again in recent days, seeing a 218 percent increase in players on Steam. And for those who have been delving back into the world of lightsabers and blasters, they want more.

Rey vs Stormtroopers in Star Wars Battlefront 2

A recent Change.org petition addressed to both Disney and EA Games is asking for a Battlefront 3, and it's hard to argue with it. The Battlefront series has been a big favorite over the years, and EA continues to sit on the rights for the games from a galaxy far, far away without much fanfare aside from the Star Wars Jedi series.

There doesn't seem to be any one singular reason why players are flocking back to Battlefront 2 other than a general feeling of good vibes around the franchise, thanks to it being a focal point in a current season of Fortnite, and really strong reviews for the Disney Plus TV show Andor.

With the recent Star Wars happenings, it appears as though players just wanted to get back into some tried and true FPS gameplay, and that's where Battlefront 2 comes in. The game still holds up really well, plays well, and features just about every form of character and gameplay type you could hope for.

Battlefront 2 offers infantry gameplay featuring storm troopers, clone troopers, X-wings, Y-wings, and everything in between, while also giving players the chance to play as iconic hero characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Boba Fett, and even new trilogy characters like Rey and Kylo Ren.

Regardless of how old hats may feel about the new direction of the franchise, it appears as though Star Wars is here to stay. But will this resurgence in Battlefront 2 interest be enough for EA to consider Battlefront 3? Keep on playing and sign the petition, and you never know.

Leia standing with General Grievous in Fortnite

Fortnite Chapter Six, season three brings plenty of new NPCs across the new map in designated locations, and they're all decently tricky to track down. These characters offer powerful items and important quests, so you need to know where to find them.

This season is completely Star Wars-themed, which means most of the characters you can meet are straight from a galaxy far, far away. NPCs in the new season work in the same way as they did in the past, and there are quite a few of them to find. Here are all NPC locations in Fortnite Chapter Six, season three.

There are 10 NPCs you can find wandering around the island in Fortnite. The number of characters available to interact with has changed throughout the season, and there were initially only five you could meet. This number has steadily increased, and additional NPCs are expected to be added based on the official Chapter Six, season three patch notes. As any new characters become available, we'll add them here.

Chewbacca Chewbacca NPC in Fortnite Imperial Outpost Chewbacca's spawn location varies in each match, but he can always be found at one of the Imperial Outposts. To find him, look for the blue smoke in the sky since it always marks his precise location. He doesn't sell anything, but if you help him defeat the Stormtroopers, he'll become your ally and fight alongside you for the rest of the match.
Jar Jar Binks Jar Jar Binks in Fortnite Foxy Floodgate You can find him standing by a small house near the river, slightly north of Foxy Floodgate. Sells Chug Jug (600 gold bars) and CA-87 Jawa Scatter Blaster (200 gold bars). He also offers Jar Jar Binks' story quests.

The collection page for all NPCs displays several other markers around the island. We've checked all of the marked locations, and no characters appear there so far. They'll likely be added in later updates, and when they are, we'll add them here.

Three of the most powerful cards in Anime Card Clash with the player in the background behind them.

There are more than 150 cards in Anime Card Clash, and each one has a unique ability and several variations. Now, we have a list of them all below, and even though you would assume that the rarer cards are more powerful, that isn't always the case in ACC. So, if you want to find out everything there is to cards and which ones stand out from the rest, follow our ultimate Anime Card Clash card guide and tier list below.

Anime Card Clash Card Types and Versions Explained

Preview of the Deck menu in Anime Card Clash with all sorts of cards in it
You can recognize different card variations by their border color

Every card in Anime Card Clash has an ability and a certain amount of damage and HP. There are four different variations of each card, with each having a distinct border color. Essentially, cards have four strength tiers. You can merge cards to "upgrade" a card to a higher tier, but more on this later in the guide. Now, here are the four card tiers and their stat and rarity scaling:

  • Basic: Basic Stats, Basic Rarity
  • Gold: Basic Stats x4, Basic Rarity x100
  • Rainbow: Gold Stats x4, Gold Rarity x100
  • Secret: Rainbow Stats x4, Rainbow Rarity x100

Anime Card Clash Tier Lists

Anime Card Clash has a vast variety of cards. So, we decided to separate them into three categories: rare Regular cards, common Regular cards, and Support cards. Based on the same categorization, we made three different tier lists. Each Anime Card Clash tier list below ranks cards from best to worst primarily based on the strength of their abilities.

For the most part, we didn't let base stats influence the ranking that much. Obviously, rarer cards have higher stats. Thus, they are stronger than more common cards on a base level. However, that stat gap between cards gets somewhat reduced when you upgrade cards to higher tiers. With that in mind, each Anime Card Clash tier list below is there to help you choose which cards to include in your party out of the best and rarest ones you currently have.

To showcase the logic behind every Anime Card Clash tier list further in the guide, we can compare the gold version of the Diamond Warrior (25,000,000 Rarity) and the basic version of the Limitless Master (20,000,000 Rarity). Gold Diamond Warrior and Basic Limitless Master have similar stats. However, the Diamond Warrior has a way better ability. Thus, the Diamond Warrior will be positioned higher on the tier list.

Anime Card Clash Regular Card Tier List for Infinite Tower and PvP (3,000,000+)

Anime Card Clash tier list of regular cards with rarity 3,000,000 and above, made via TierMaker that goes like this: SS-tier: Shadow General, Awakened Shadow Monarch, Cosmic Villain, Chimera Ant Cat, Awakened Sun Deity, Soul King, Null, Lord of Eminence, Awakened Limitless Master, Deranged Elder Assassin, Awakened Dragon King, 7 Star Hunter; S-tier: Dragon Deity, Shadow Dragon, Eminence Cat, Soul Queen, Eminence Strategist, Eminence Accountant, Eminence Commander, Zen Master, Forsaken Hunter, Combat Giant, Eternal Dragon, Awakened Pale Demon Lord, Phantom Assassin, Chimera Ant King; A-tier: Mochi Emperor, Eminence Scout, Forest Sage, Genie Commander, Flame Tyrant, Deranger Clown, Sentinel Statue, Shadow Ant, Beast Giant, Ice Elf, Biscuit Warrior, Armored Giant, Impure Ghost, Phantom Leader, Light Saintess; B-tier: Shadow Bear, Shadow Duelist, Shadow Commander, Survey Commander, Crazy Genius, Awakened Galactic Tyrant, Awakened Prideful Prince, Eternal Mage, Awakened Frost Demon, The Goliath, White Tiger, King of Curses, Blade Captain, Compass Demon, Armored Giant, Awakened Six Eyed Slayer; C-tier: Candy Master, Vorpal Warrior, Vorpal Master, Chain User, Awakened Earths Strongest, Final Shinigami, Cursed Fist, Rikas Blessing, Limitless Master, Namekian Sage, Divine Guide, Blue Slime, Lunar Guardian; D-tier: Ice Empress, Childish Demon, Thunder Demon, Awakened Shadow Summoner, Seven Sea King, White Panther, Blade Warrior, Juice Queen, Black Flame; F-tier: Red Dragon Emperor, White Dragon Emperor, Dragon King, Snake Empress, Stone Hashira, Mist Hashira, Destroyer Deity.
Cards from rarity of 3,000,000 and above ranked — Image via TierMaker

To differentiate between "Rare" and "Common" cards, we drew the Rarity line at 1/3,000,000 chance. Most of the Anime Card Clash cards listed in the above tier list are useful in basically every game mode. However, some rarer ones are overkill for the bigger part of the Story and Raids. For that reason, the cards are ranked based on how powerful they are in scenarios where you are fighting against multiple cards at the same time, like in the Infinite Tower and PvP.

Anime Card Clash Regular Card Tier List for Story and Raids (1–3,000,000)

Anime Card Clash tier list of all regular cards whose rarity is below 3,000,000, made via TierMaker and it goes like this: S+-tier: Ice Dragon, Masked Emperror, Straw Hat, Diamond Warrior; S-tier; Deranged Assassin, Crimson Eyes, Star Fist, Half-Demon Swordsman, Golden Vampire, Dark Avenger, Peaceful Swordsman; A-tier: Pale Demon Lord, Copy Ninja, Crimson Vampire, Lost Hunter, Lunar Angel, The Irregular, Bamboo Demon, Unstoppable Fist, Blood Fiend, Six-Eyed Slayer; B-tier: Sacred Ronin, Awakened Wild Hunter, Titania, Psycho Stalker, Surgeon of Death, Homeroom Teacher, Muscle Head, Black Swordsman, Crow Master, Light Admiral; C-tier: White Ghoul, Snake Hashira, Golden Wind, Ripple Knight, Death Log, Thunder Flash, Prideful Prince, Shadow Summoner, Water Hashira, Black Demon, Golden King; D-tier: Promised Child, Blade Rebel, Cat Burglar, Stark Gunner, Wild Hunter, Hero of Light, Metal Alchemist, Fire Dragon, Chainsaw Fiend, Space Cowboy, Science King, Green Bomber
Cards from 1–3,000,000 rarity ranked — Image via TierMaker

Both Raids and Story in ACC have one thing in common: you fight against only one card. Because of that, your party composition will mainly include cards that either inflict long-duration status effects or deal damage equal to a percentage of the opponent's maximum HP. So, the above tier list ranks common cards based on how useful they are at dealing with one card only.

By clearing the Story and Raids in ACC, you will get decent rare cards. Thus, every other game mode will become more accessible to you. Later on, you should form a party that is suited for fighting opponents that have the same number of cards as you. For example, that is the case in the Infinite Tower and PvP.

Anime Card Clash Support Card Tier List

Anime Card Clash tier list of support cards made via TierMaker that goes as follows: S-tier: The Ladder, Galaxy Hero, Slayer Mark, Vorpal Soul, Orb of Dominance, Shadow Mage, Shinobi Cells; A-tier: Truck-Kun, Limitless, Sacred Art Uzumaki, Sealed Cube, Heart of the Cards; B-tier: Beast Contract, Fallen Knight, Froststorm Blade, Null Blade, Red Thorn, Mech Contract; C-tier: Binding Light, Mystic Spheres, Vase of Greed, Berserk Mode, Dragon Sin Blades, Music Idol; D-tier: Fox Cloak, Ninja Vest, Holy Staff, Cursed Ledger, Substitution Log.
All Support Cards ranked from best to worst — Image via TierMaker.

The support card tier list above is applicable to every game mode in Anime Card Clash. However, there are a few exceptions to it, like the Shinobi Cells card, which has no use when fighting against a single card. In general, support cards that boost your stats and let you negate or survive enemy attacks are the strongest in Anime Card Clash.

List of Cards in Anime Card Clash

Below, you can find a list of all cards in Anime Card Clash, along with their rarity, ability, pros and cons, and their base damage and HP. We decided to classify ACC cards based on how you can obtain them, so we formed these categories:

  • Regular and Support cards — Obtainable from the start.
  • Pack-specific cards — Obtainable when you equip specific card packs.
  • Boss cards — Obtainable from regular rolls after you defeat Bosses in Story mode.
  • Moon Cycle cards — Obtainable only during specific Moon cycles.
  • Raid Boss cards — Obtainable in exchange for Boss Shards at the Raid exchange NPC.
  • Quest cards — Obtainable by completing quests.
  • Event cards — Obtainable only during time-limited events.

How to Enhance Cards With Traits

Preview of the Trait reroll menu in the Anime Card Clash Roblox experience
The rarest traits give you increased luck

To increase the stats of a card in Anime Card Clash, use Trait Rolls to reroll the card's traits at the Traits Shop in the main lobby. The trait you reroll applies to every variation of the same card. Some rare traits can also increase your luck, border, and boss roll chance. However, for these luck bonuses to apply, the card with the relevant trait has to be in your party. In general, you want to save up Trait Rerolls and use them only on the best Anime Card Clash cards from our tier list.

Merging and Deconstructing Cards

Location of the Merge Card and Card Deconstruction machines in the Anime Card Clash Roblox experience
By merging cards, you can slowly work your way up to some very rare and powerful cards

At the Card Merge machine next to the Play building, you can merge 100 cards into a higher-tier version of the same card. By the same principle, you can deconstruct a card into 100 lower rarity cards. By merging cards together, you are guaranteed to get better cards over time.

If you got to the end of our Anime Card Clash card guide and tier list, then you are ready to tackle every type of content in the game. To start on the right foot, make sure to check out our Anime Card Clash codes for some free Instant Roll Packs, Trait Rolls, and Potions.

A ghost trapped in a summoning circle in front of a flaming cross in Phasmophobia

If you think you've mastered the art of ghost hunting in Phasmophobia, you may be ready to put your skills to the test. Weekly challenge modes are a great way to see how good you are.

These special trials modify how the game works, usually with rules that make the experience a lot harder. Successfully finishing the challenge gets you plenty of XP and cash, so it's well worth the effort. Here's the weekly challenge in Phasmophobia and everything you need to know to beat it.

Phasmophobia weekly challenge mode (May 18 to 25)

The paranormal paparazzi challenge in phasmophobia
Screenshot by Destructoid

From May 18 to 25, the weekly challenge is Paranormal Paparazzi in Phasmophobia. In this challenge, you've got lots of high-quality video, light, and sound equipment, but you're missing some of the most important items like Sanity Medication and Incense.

How to complete the weekly challenge in Phasmophobia

To finish the weekly challenge mode in Phasmophobia, you need to correctly identify the ghost present on the featured map three times. The specific changes present in each trial mode vary, but your goal is always the same.

All Paranormal Paparazzi weekly challenge modifiers in Phasmophobia

The Paranormal Paparazzi challenge mode has several specific rules that modify the way the contract functions. Here are all the key details you need to know about this trial.

  • Map: Point Hope
  • Starting sanity: 100 percent
  • Sanity drain speed: 150 percent
  • Hiding spots: Lots
  • Setup time: Two minutes
  • Ghost speed: Normal
  • Cursed Possession: Monkey Paw
  • Equipment: Mix of Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III items.

    • Tier I: Ghost Writing Book and DOTS Projector.
    • Tier II: Sound Sensor, Head Gear, Spirit Box, and Parabolic Microphone.
    • Tier III: Igniter, Tripod, Video Camera, Motion Sensor, Firelight, Ultraviolet, Flashlight, and Photo Camera.

  • Missing Equipment: Salt, Sanity Medication, EMF Readers, Thermometers, Crucifixes, and Incense.

Phasmophobia Paranormal Paparazzi weekly challenge mode tips

The Paranormal Paparazzi challenge is one of the trickier ones you can attempt in Phasmophobia, so here are some of the best tips to help you get it done.

  • Learn Point Hope's layout. The 10 levels of this massive winding lighthouse map are extremely tricky to navigate if you're not familiar with this location. Before attempting this trial, load a custom version of the game with the friendly ghost option turned on to freely explore this map and learn everything there is to know about it.
  • Use your fancy Motion Sensors and Sound Sensors to find the ghost. The Paranormal Paparazzi challenge grants you an array of advanced technological items, so make use of them to quickly find the ghost. I recommend using all of your Motion Sensors and Sound Sensors right away to make finding the ghost easier. You can place one on each level to see where you pick up activity, and move them around to check other areas as needed.
  • Play with friends. Your odds of success are a lot better with allies helping you through this tricky trial. With additional ghost hunters at your side, you can explore the map more quickly, work together to gather evidence, and continue the investigation even if you perish.
  • Don't give up. Since all equipment is provided to you for free, there's nothing to lose in this challenge. Because of this, you can keep trying without worrying about losing money or equipment. Give each contract your all and keep at it until you manage to get it done.

When does the challenge mode change in Phasmophobia?

The challenge mode changes every Monday at 12am UTC, which translates to 7pm CT every Sunday. You have a full week to tackle each challenge mode when it's available. All challenge modes return on a regular basis since they're on a rotating schedule, so if you don't get to finish one, you can always try it again in the future.

Next weekly challenge mode in Phasmophobia

The next weekly challenge mode, which will run from May 25 to June 1, is Hide and Seek: Extreme. This trial begins as soon as the featured one for this week, which is Paranormal Paparazzi, ends.

Holding Stitch Popcorn Bucket in Disney Dreamlight Valley

One of the many duties you need to complete in the Parks Fest event is Stitch-y Situation in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This task doesn't give you much information to go off, so you may be unsure how to get it done.

Like most Parks Fest event duties, this one involves crafting a popcorn bucket. There's quite a lot to this process, though, and you have to make a very specific one to get it done. Here's how to complete Stitch-y Situation in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to complete the Stitch-y Situation duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Completing Stitch-y Situation duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

To complete the Stitch-y Situation task in DDV, you need to craft one Stitch Popcorn Bucket. This is one of the easier event duties to solve since it directly references Stitch by name in the title.

Before you can make this special event item, you need to gather an array of Parks Fest Buttons to make it. All of the required materials for crafting this popcorn bucket are Buttons you can acquire from around the valley. Once you have all the items you need, the Stitch Popcorn Bucket can be crafted at any crafting station.

How to craft Stitch Popcorn Bucket in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Crafting Stitch Popcorn Bucket in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

To craft the Stitch Popcorn Bucket, you need Green Buttons, Blue Buttons, Flower Buttons, and Purple Buttons. Here's how many you need of each kind and how to earn them around the valley.

Button Amount How to get
Green Button 40 Can be acquired by completing daily and weekly event quests.
Blue Button 15 Can be fished from white bubble spots around Dazzle Beach and Peaceful Meadow while the event is active.
Flower Button 20 Grows in the wild around the Peaceful Meadow and Plaza biomes during Parks Fest.
Purple Button Five Crafted using one Blue Button, two Red Buttons, and 100 Dreamlight.

Since the Parks Fest event is an annual occurrence, you may have crafted the Stitch Popcorn Bucket before this duty was added. If so, you can either gather all of the materials to make it again or use the machine you unlock during The Uncrafting Station quest to disassemble and remake it. To get the Uncrafting Station, you need to unlock the Cheshire Cat and reach level seven friendship with him.

Gathering Buttons is a fairly time-consuming process, so I recommend using this special machine if you already have this bucket made rather than making a duplicate of it. You can also uncraft other popcorn bucket variants if you need additional materials to make this one.

Stitch-y Situation reward in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Finishing the Stitch-y Situation task unlocks the Stitch Popcorn Bucket furniture item and the Stitch's Handheld Popcorn Bucket accessory item. You essentially earn two different versions of the same item. One can be used as a decoration around your village, while the other can be carried around as an outfit accessory.

If you're interested in unlocking more popcorn buckets, there are quite a few other duties you need to get done in the Parks Fest event. Some others you need to finish are Oh, BotherCraftily Ever AfterDestination: Imagination, and A Shining Icon.

Promo art for Chrono Odyssey

Chrono Odyssey is a brand new MMORPG announced on May 19, and a Closed Beta Test (CBT) is coming up soon for those playing on PC.

The upcoming title is being developed by Chrono Studio and published by Kakao Games. Chrono Odyssey looks pretty different in terms of gameplay and genre from Kakao's usual line of products. This guide contains all the relevant information for taking part in the upcoming beta.

How to participate in the Chrono Odyssey CBT?

The participation process is pretty simple, but it's available only on PC.

  • Open your Steam app or go to the website.
  • Log in to your account.
  • Search for Chrono Odyssey by typing in the game's name and opening its item page.
  • Scroll down a bit, and you'll find an option that reads "request access".
  • Click on it, and then confirm your interest.
  • This will confirm your interest in joining the CBT. The "request access" option will disappear.

That's pretty much all you need to do to participate in the playtest. However, requesting access isn't a guaranteed shot at getting a slot in the playtest. If you're lucky, you'll find more information in your email registered with your Steam account.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_A4X29H69w

Chrono Odyssey CBT dates and platforms

The upcoming CBT is scheduled for June, with the exact date yet to be announced. It is expected soon, however, so make sure to register for the test as quickly as possible.

The CBT will be available on PC via Steam, but the full launch will include current-gen consoles, as Chrono Odyssey will be released on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S.

The upcoming MMORPG is fully created with Unreal Engine 5 and features a vast open world for players to explore. You'll be in control of a Chronotector, which allows you to manipulate time as you want. This device will allow you to explore different generations and eras of the same region.

The concept sounds pretty cool, and we will know more once the CBT goes live in June.

A screenshot from Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon with the player firing at a heavy enemy bot.

May has been a busy month for Xbox Game Pass with plenty of new additions, but we're set to lose some great titles pretty soon as well.

Your subscription will be lighter by four titles starting on May 31. The count rises by one if you're using the PC Game Pass. While this process is pretty routine, there are a couple of games that you should try playing in the last couple of weeks if you haven't tried them out yet.

All Xbox Game Pass Departures in May 2025

Here's the complete list of all the games that will no longer be part of the Xbox Game Pass after May 31.

  • Cassette Beasts
  • Humanity
  • Remnant 2
  • Slayers X: Terminal Afterthought: Vengeance of the Slayer
  • Firework (PC Game Pass)

Remnant 2 is certainly going to be the game I miss most, although it has been on the subscription for a long time. It's one of those few games that I picked up after its addition to the subscription and completed in the next few weeks. While it's not the easiest of shooters to mess around with, give it a try during the last week of May.

A player attacks a monster in The Remnant 2.
The Remnant 2 – Image via Arc Games

Cassette Beasts has been an underrated title if you're into indies and games that involve catching monsters. It's neither Pokémon nor TemTem by any means, but there's plenty of fun gameplay, and you can also finish the game by picking it up now.

I haven't played much of either Humanity or Slayers X, but they're both neat titles in their own right. Humanity is a good fit for those who love puzzle platformers, while Slayers X is a great tribute to old-school FPS titles.

Puzzle lovers have more to miss this month as Firework is also leaving the PC Game Pass. I have played a bit of the horror puzzle title, and it's certainly fun. All these titles will be available until May 31 on the Xbox Game Pass.

May saw the addition of fantastic titles like Doom: The Dark Ages as Day One launches. I personally can't wait to see what we have in store for us in June.

Holding a Metallic Mickey Popcorn Bucket in Disney Dreamlight Valley

In the Parks Fest event, one of your main goals is to craft an array of unique popcorn buckets in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Figuring out what they are and how to make them is fairly complex, though, since you're only given vague titles like A Shining Icon to work with.

The name of each event duty is a small clue meant to point you in the right direction, but none of them gives you enough information to know exactly what needs to be done. If you're struggling to solve this one, here's how to complete A Shining Icon in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to complete the A Shining Icon duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley

A Shining Icon Duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

To finish the A Shining Icon quest, you need to craft one Metallic Mickey Popcorn Bucket. Mickey Mouse is the iconic mascot of Disney, and the bucket you're making is shiny, so he's the "shining icon" referenced in this hint.

For this duty, you first need to gather all of the required materials for the popcorn bucket. The resources you need are an array of colorful Parks Fest Buttons. Once you have them, you can head to any crafting station around the valley to get crafting.

How to craft Metallic Mickey Popcorn Bucket in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Crafting a Metallic Mickey Popcorn Bucket in DDV
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Metallic Mickey Popcorn Bucket can be crafted using Green Buttons, Blue Buttons, Purple Buttons, and Flower Buttons in DDV. Here's how many are required and what you need to do to earn each type.

Button Amount How to get
Green Button 40 Earned by completing daily and weekly event quests.
Blue Button 15 Can be fished out of white ripple spots in the water around Dazzle Beach and Peaceful Meadow.
Purple Button Five Can be crafted using one Blue Button, two Red Buttons, and 100 Dreamlight.
Flower Button 20 Can be found in the wild around the Peaceful Meadow and Plaza while the Parks Fest event is live.

If you crafted the Metallic Mickey Popcorn Bucket during a past run of the Parks Fest event and don't want to spend time gathering the resources to make another one for this task, consider using the Uncrafting Station to break it down and remake it. You unlock this machine during The Uncrafting Station quest, which is the Cheshire Cat's level seven friendship quest.

Using this machine costs a small Dreamlight fee, but it's worth the price to avoid gathering all of the required materials again. You can also break down any other popcorn buckets you may have to earn materials for this one.

A Shining Icon reward in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Completing the A Shining Icon duty gets you the Metallic Mickey Popcorn Bucket furniture item and the Metallic Mickey's Handheld Popcorn Bucket accessory item. The furniture version of this bucket can be placed anywhere around the valley, including inside your houses or anywhere outside as a decorative item. The accessory version is an item you can equip and carry around.

There are plenty of other popcorn buckets you can make once you have this one in your collection. Next, consider working on the Oh, Bother, Craftily Ever After, and Destination: Imagination duties to unlock three more.

Dead Spells main hub is filled with a lot of players. There is a title on top and bottom of the page

The main form of progression in Dead Spells is the class you play as. You can either roll for your class and hope you get a good one, or you can actually save your currency and buy it for good. Whichever method you choose, it's essential to know you're going for one of the better classes in the game. To help you pick, we made this Ultimate Dead Spells Class Tier List.

How to get new classes in Dead Spells

The daily login bonus in Dead Spells
Screenshot by Destructoid

In order to get new classes in Dead Spells you need to use the in-game currency - Burgers. Using Burgers, you can unlock a new class in two different ways:

  • Roll for a new class - Costs 10 Burgers (can only be done 10 times per account)
  • Permanently buy a new class - varies from class to class (from 100 to 7,500 Burgers)

We recommend rolling for a new class until you get a rare or better class, and then start saving Burgers for a really powerful class. Fortunately, getting Burgers is easy - just play the game, do well, and you'll get plenty of them.

Dead Spells Tier List

Please note that Dead Spells is mostly about how you play and what you gather along the way. A starting class can definitely give you a boost, but it ultimately all depends on how well you play the game and how effectively you use what you gather.

Class Name Starting Items Passives Info

Defected Shogun
- Dishonored Blade
- Corruption Mask
- Dash
Unable to use other weapons
Longer melee range
+100% more HP
+ 30% Damage
- 20% Speed
The only two things holding the Defected Shogun back
are him speed and the fact he can't equip other weapons.
Other than that, a Defected Shogun is an extremely powerful class.

Samurai
- Katana
Samurai Helmet
Unable to use magical weapons Unlike Ronin and Ninja, the Samurai can equip different weapons
and can use armor. The Katana a Samurai gets is a fantastic starter weapon, and
the helmet is really powerful, too. A great class to start with.

A-Tier

Class Name Starting Items Passives Info

Giant
- Club + 100% Health
+ 50% Melee Damage
- 25% Speed
Giants are really powerful, but that power comes at a huge cost.
Giants are too big to enter buildings and structures, and they are very slow.
If you can live with these setbacks, then a Giant is a pretty great class.

Vampire
- Bite Can't regenerate HP naturally
+ 20% Melee Damage
+ 10% Lifesteal
Vampires need to bite to feed. This sounds great, but the Lifesteal only takes 10% of damage.
Still, with a 20% Melee Damage increase, Vampires are pretty solid.

Ronin
- Katana
- Ronin Helmet
Can't equip other weapons or armor
- 25% Health
Like the Samurai, the Ronin starts with a Katana, but they can't equip other weapons or armor.
They also have lower health, hence why we placed them lower. Otherwise, a pretty good class,
especially if you can get them through the 10 rolls.

Ninja
- Katana
- Dash
Can't equip armor
+ 10% Speed
Ninjas are cool, but when they can't wear any armor, they become quite squishy.
You need to avoid taking damage at all cost and use the dash effectively.
If you can manage that, it's a pretty great class.

B-Tier

Class Name Starting Items Passives Info

Ghoul
- Pitch Fork Not targeted by undead enemies
- 50 % Health Regen
- 35% Health
+ 35% Damage
+20% Speed
Similar to Ninjas, Ghouls are really squishy at the beginning.
However, after you get them some armor, the 35% extra damage
can really make them powerful... but only if you can survive that long.

Warrior
- Battle Axe
- Warrior Helmet
- 50% Health Regen
+ 25% Melee Damage
Warriors do more damage, but their Health regenerates slower. That's about it.
Easy to understand, easy to play, not a lot more going on.

Knight
- Sword
- Knight Helmet
+ 15% Damage Similar to Warriors, but they do a bit less damage and don't suffer the Health Regen debuff.

C-Tier

Class Name Starting Items Passives Info

Goblin
- Dagger Can't use magic weapons
- 25% Health
+ 15% Damage
+ 35% Health Regen
+ 20% Speed
Goblins are a bit like Knights, only they don't start with good gear.
The extra speed really helps out, too. Otherwise, they are only good
if you get lucky during the early game.

Mage
- Crude Wand
- Mana Potion x 2
- Wizard Hat
+ 15% Wand Damage If you can handle only using magic weapons, Mages are pretty good. Otherwise, you
should probably replace them with a better class.

Demon
- Pitch Fork + 75% Health Regen
Shadows don't attack you
As cool as it sounds to be a demon, they aren't that powerful. Their health regenerates faster
but they only start with a Pitch Fork, which isn't good.

Gnome
- Linked Sword
- Healing Potion
- 15% Health
+ 15% Damage
Not bad as a starting class. The extra damage is nice and the Linked Sword is a bit
better than a Pitch Fork.

Angel
- Sword You love all creatures
+ 15% Health
+ 15% Health Regen
- 15% Damage
Playing as an Angel is weird. You have more survivability, but you do less damage, and
enemies don't tend to target you if you're in a group. It might sound fun, but it's not worth it.

D-Tier

Class Name Starting Items Passives Info

Risk Taker
- Pitch Fork
- Top Hat
- Dice x 1
No passives The only reason why we put Risk Taker above other classes
is because sometimes you can get lucky and get a cool item with the Dice.
Other times you don't, and that's why the Risk Taker isn't higher.

Apprentice Mage
- Crude Wand
- Mana Potion x 2
- Wizard Hat
No passives Essentially, a Mage without the Wand Damage buff. That's it.

Noble
- Sword
- Gold Ring
- Top Hat
- 15% Damage Even though you start with a Sword, your damage debuff
isn't going to help you. Still, the armor pieces are kind of good.

Mushroom
- Pitch Fork + 300% Health Regen
+ 50% Health
- 65% Damage
Even though you're impossible to kill because of the Health buffs, it's also
impossible for you to kill anything with such a huge damage debuff.

Adventurer
- Pitch Fork No passives The default class you start as. Nothing special.

That's all there is to it. Have fun earning Burgers and saving for the best class. To stay up to date with Dead Spells, check out our Dead Spells Trello and Discord Links.

I've been having a retro itch lately and have been going back to previous generations to play some classic gems, which got me thinking of the future.

Companies have, in the past decade, tried to revive some big franchises to mixed success, whether it's Toys for Bob's remakes of the Spyro and Crash Bandicoot trilogy that garnered great attention, or the happily forgotten Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.

It's got me pondering what other retro games I would love to see return, either as a remake or some kind of reboot, in the future. After all, we are staring down the next generation of consoles with the Nintendo Switch 2 in mere weeks, so it begs the question: what else would we like to see return?

First. What is retro? For our sake, I'm going to say anything Xbox 360, PS3, Wii era, and below. We know most folks define retro differently, but for this conversation, we decided to go a few console generations beyond for better discussions. The Xbox One and PS4 are still pretty recent, and I can't think of many games from that era I'd define as 'retro,' especially when a lot of those franchises, like Splatoon, are still getting new games right now.

For me, I need to see the bear and bird come back. I need a full-on remake of the first two Banjo-Kazooie games, even if Toys for Bob needs to be the one to do it. I want to see those worlds brought back to life, and I felt like it would have been the perfect time to do so after Banjo's addition to the Smash Bros. roster. Something Xbox apparently didn't agree with.

Keeping with Rare, Viva Piñata is also a beloved series from the Xbox 360 era that I'd have loved to see get a new game, even if it was meant to be a tie-in to a TV show that no longer exists. It was still fun, and I remember sinking hundreds of hours into the first two. I'm sure most of you will argue Rare's library in general is deserving of a remake across the board, or a new game.

F-Zero also feels like it needs a shoutout, as we haven't seen a new game in quite some time, which is crazy to even consider those games retro nowadays. Lastly, on top of my head, the only other game I can think of I would love to see come back is Chrono Trigger. It has to, right?!

But enough about what I want, what do you want to see, Destructoid!? Let me know in the comments below!

DOOM: The Dark Ages has launched to strong critical reception, but player numbers seem low, especially compared to similar titles. Its availability on Game Pass complicates assessment, raising concerns about its performance and engagement.

Blades of Fire is a mess of an experience, with many of its elements not working well with other parts of the game.
