The Witcher 3 Inspired Bookends Will Inject Kaer Morhen Into Your Literature

The Witcher 3 bookends

When it comes to The Witcher, fans just love to surround themselves in anything and everything Geralt of Rivia and who could blame them? The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt saw unprecedented success and even had the most Game of the Year awards earning 260 wins altogether in 2015, but that was then overtaken, understandably, by The Last of Us Part 2.

If you have been biding your time by reading up on all the Witcher books as you wait patiently for Netflix's The Witcher season two to release, you now have a very cool place to store them all.

Many people have turned their backs on physical books over the years but really, there's nothing like the smell and the feel of a proper book in my opinion. Granted you can store thousands of novels onto one slim device but by doing so, you miss out on the opportunely of owning one of Dark Horse's newest bookends. Whether it's placed on your bedside cabinet or shown off proudly as a centerpiece in your living room, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt inspired book holder is certainly a must for fans of the Netflix series or video game.

Truly inspired by the architecture of Kaer Morhen, the ruined keep where witchers of the School of the Wolf were trained in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The set of two polyresin bookends each stand tall at 8 inches making it perfect for most books. If you have yet to get stuck into The Witcher graphic novels, and I'd highly recommend them, you can check them out on the Dark Horse website.

You can pre-order the Witcher bookends through your local comic store and then they should be in your hands by August 8, 2021. The price is a little expensive coming in at $139.99 (around £100) but they do look amazing. Happy reading!

Dead by Daylight Patch Notes 4.5.0 February 2021 – New HUD, Updates and More

Dead by Daylight patch notes february 2021

February 9 marks a new Mid-Chapter update for the online multiplayer game Dead by Daylight. The update brings a raft of changes to the game – including a new HUD, quality of life changes and more. Let's dive into the full Dead by Daylight February 2021 patch notes for update 4.5.0 below.

New Dead by Daylight Event Patch Notes – Tome VI for The Archives and The Gilded Stampede

The latest Dead by Daylight update includes two new events, both of which start very soon:

  • Tome VI for The Archives will start tomorrow on Feb. 10th at 11AM ET
  • The Gilded Stampede event will start the day after on Feb. 11th at 11AM ET

New HUD

The Dead by Daylight February 2021 patch notes detail a whole host of changes to the game's HUD, they are listed below:

  • The player status widget (player names, health states etc.) has been redesigned. Along with a number of graphical improvements to animations, the player status widget is now positioned on the left side of the screen. While this change was not made lightly, it was necessary in order to make the player names readable across all platforms and resolutions as well as make room for new HUD elements like the Hook Count.
  • The objectives have been moved to the top centre of the screen to give us more room to display detailed instructions.
  • Score events and status effect alerts have been moved to the right side of the screen. This was primarily to bring the status effect alerts closer to the status effect indicators they reference.
  • The number of visible score events has been increased when multiple events are triggered at the same time.
  • Killers see a new widget which displays how many hooks they've earned during the match out of the possible total hooks. This is only visible to the Killer.
  • Survivors see a new set of markers above each of the Survivor player's names. This lets the Survivor players know how many times each Survivor has been hooked. This is only visible to the Survivors.
  • The healthy and injured health state icons have been replaced with each character's portrait.
  • The Injured state has been improved from the PTB to be more obvious, especially for colorblind players.

Quality of Life, Graphical and Gameplay changes:

  • The Settings menu has been updated with two new slider settings that allow players to adjust the size of their UI. Players may adjust the size of the menus and HUD separately. This replaces the previous maximum scale value used in previous releases.
  • Visual updates to maps in Gideon Meat Plant and Asylum.
  • Updated model and textures on 4 Nurse outfits.
  • Update model, texture on the Clown base outfit and updated his VFX.
  • Updated the posing for all Survivor locomotion animations.
  • Added Start/Stop transition animations and quick turn animations.
  • Added ability to use Flashlight while crouching.
  • Updated crawling turn speed and added animation feedback for recovering.
  • Added new animation when entering the hatch while crawling.

  • Fixed an issue where the character would not play the Dead Hard animation properly from idle.
  • Fixed an issue where the Survivor would clip through lockers doors while rushing out.

  • Fixed and issue where Ash hand would jitter while carrying an item.
  • Fixed an issue where character would "T" stance when infected by the Plague and interacting with the exit gate
  • Fixed an issue where character would "T" stance when interacting with fountains.

So while there is lots for players to get their teeth into, the latest Dead by Daylight update doesn't change too much. The New HUD elements will make for a slightly different experience and the general updates are nice, but it's really the character buffs and nerfs that will change things the most. Keep an eye out for those on DualShockers soon!

Crying Obsidian – What Does It Do And Where to Find It?

Crying Obsidian

Since its launch back in 2009, the world of Minecraft has been expanding more and more with new contents, modes, materials, and locations. Even you are a veteran Minecraft player, it's not surprising at all if you haven't ever heard about some material in the game's world. There are a lot of rare species in Minecraft and Crying Obsidian is one of them. A purple block that can only be found in some special places if you would be lucky enough. Here we will go over this rare block and guide you to mine some for yourself.

What is Crying Obsidian?

Introduced in the Nether update, Crying Obsidian is a black and purple block that releases small purple articles to its surrounding area continuously, which lightens the block's nearby area. That's why it's called Crying Obsidian.

Where to Find Crying Obsidian?

These purple blocks are being generated naturally in Ruined Portals. When you enter a Ruined Portal, you will find the purple Obsidians next to the lava. Make sure you have a diamond or Netherite pickaxe since they are the only tools that can mine Crying Obsidians. Aside from that, you can also get these crying blocks from some of the chests inside Bastion Remnants. There is a 9% possibility of getting 1-3 purple obsidian from the Bastion Remnant chests. The last way to get these glowing blocks is to trade with Piglins. Keep in mind that you cannot craft these crying kind of Obsidians yourself.

What Does Crying Obsidian Do?

Despite the fact that you can use these purple blocks as decorative species, you can also build portals into the Nether with these Obsidians. Unlike the other Obsidians, the crying one will emit light.

Minecraft is now available on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC, Android, and iOS. The game recently received a new free skin pack for Lunar New Year 2021.

Pokemon GO Kanto Tour Research – What Tasks Will There Be for Shiny Ditto and Shiny Mew?

pokemon go kanto tour research

Last night, Niantic shared a few more details around the upcoming Pokemon GO Kanto Tour event. The event takes place on February 20 and sees players choose either the Red or Green version, based off of the original games. Once chosen, players will have access to a specific range of Pokemon from the Kanto Region. This event will also host a range of Special Research tasks and quests. But what are the Pokemon GO Kanto Tour Research Tasks – let's take a look.

Pokemon GO Kanto Tour Special Research

The first task will be to help Professor Willow in Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto's Special Research story. There are few details on specifics here, but it will offer players the opportunity to learn more about the Kanto Region and its Pokemon. It will challenge players to practice their Trainer skills and will lead to some clues based on a "mysterious Pokemon."

It's at the end of this Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto's Special Research story where players will encounter Shiny Ditto.

Masterwork Research

On completion of the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto's Special Research story, players will unlock the Masterwork Research. This sets them down the path of capturing Shiny Mew, however, it won't be easy.

While again, Niantic doesn't share too many details, what they do say is players will need their platinum Kanto medal, and that's just for the first step. Following that, players will have to spin 151 unique Pokestops, walk 151km and catch 30 Pokemon of each type. Prepare to grind for that coveted Shiny Mew!

Collection Challenges

During the event, players will have the opportunity to complete no less than 10 collection challenges. Niantic says half of these are based on the version of the game that the player initially selects, while the other half will be inspired by locations from the Red and Green versions of the game.

The first half of the collection challenges are as follows:

  • Red (Trade) or Red (Incense)
  • Green (Trade) or Green (Incense)
  • Raid
  • Research
  • Evolve

And then the second half are based around:

  • Pallet Town
  • Pewter City
  • Cerulean City
  • Fuchsia City
  • Pokémon League

Don't forget trainers, this is a ticketed event, so make sure you purchase yours before it kicks off on February 20.

Aspect of Influence Guide – Unlock the Destiny 2 Stasis Aspect

The new Destiny 2 Season — Season of the Chosen — is now in session. With it, a whole slew of changes, including new exotics, two previously vaulted strikes (and one new strike), loot from Trials of Osiris, and more. One of the iciest new changes is a brand-new Aspect for the Stasis subclass, called the Aspect of Influence. Here's everything you need to know to unlock it.

How to Unlock the Aspect of Influence in Destiny 2: Beyond Light

In order to earn the Aspect of Influence and accompanying Stasis Turret in Destiny 2, you'll already need to have done a few things:

  • Purchase the Destiny 2: Beyond Light expansion pack.
  • Complete the Beyond Light main campaign.
  • Complete The Stasis Prototype and earn Salvation's Grip.
  • Get all of the prior Stasis Aspects from the Exo Stranger.

Once you've satisfied all of these requirements, you can then go hunting for the new Aspect of Influence and grab the Stasis Turret while you're at it.

You'll start your hunt at the Exo Stranger in Europa, who gives you the titular quest 'Aspect of Influence'. From there, jump back to your map and travel directly to the Wall of Infinitude.

You'll want to follow along the main path for a while until you reach the first Entropic Shard, which looks like a little floating beacon and is clearly marked on your HUD. Equip Salvation's Grip and shoot at each Entropic Shard you come across.

Once you arrive at the last Entropic Shard and shoot that, you'll have to fend off a wave of enemies. When that's done, you'll be notified about the Heroic Exo Challenge which you will complete next. For now, it's back to your map and straight over to Simulation: Safeguard Heroic.

There, you'll have to fight waves of Vex enemies while defending a grid of 'Simulated Ziggurat Platforms'. Basically, keep enemies away from those red crystals floating above the central platform.

After a few waves have passed, you'll then fight the Simulated Gate Lord boss while continuing to hold a defensive line. Make sure to quickly take out the Overload Minotaur adds that spawn to maintain control over the situation.

After you've finished off the boss, head back to the platform and grab the treasure chest. This will activate the next step in your quest log, so open your map and travel back to 'Aspect of Influence'. Once here, simply walk up the steps and step on the platform. You'll be transported to a long hallway; follow it all the way to the end and claim your new Aspect!

And that's everything you need to know about earning the Aspect of Influence in Destiny 2. While you're here, take a peek at our guide on how to obtain the new Ticuu's Divination exotic.

Valheim Smelter Guide – How to Build Forge, Smelter, and Charcoal Kiln

Valheim Smelter Guide

Valheim's rich world has a lot to discover, collect and build. The game offers an open-world survival experience on a pretty vast map where you will face different dangers, enemies, and boss fights, but the key to overcoming all these difficulties is to upgrade your weapons and build new valuable items. In order to get better resources and craft high-tier utilities, you need to have the Valheim Smelter structure along with Forge and Charcoal Klin. Here are the steps to build these structures:

Step 1 – Prepare for a Dangerous Journey

Before getting into the details of what species the Smelter structure needs, you'd better know that there's a big war ahead for obtaining those resources. Beat the first boss fight, get yourself a Leather armor at least, craft a torch, fill up your health bar, and craft the most powerful melee and ranged weapons you can. You will need all these requirements to fight against Skeletons.

Step 2 – Start the Journey to Find Surtling Core

In order to unlock the structures of Smelter, Forge, and Charcoal Klin, you need to get a Surtling Core, which requires you to involve in a risky journey. Head to the Black Forest – surroundings of your starting zone – and explore the region until you find Skeletons. They are the guardians of the Burial Chamber and when you see them, it means you are near to the chamber. While you are in the territory of Skeletons, look for a doorway that leads you into the ground. As you enter a Burial Chamber, you will find yourself in maze-like tunnels with some of the rooms containing valuable items and one of them containing the Surtling Cores. You will find these cores on little wooden sticks in the treasure room.

Valheim Smelter Guide, Burial Chamber

TechRaptor

Be aware that the tunnels are filled with Skeletons and Ghosts that can ambush you and tear you to pieces. So, try to wipe out all the enemies from all rooms to avoid rushing your exploration.

Step 3 – Build Smelter and Charcoal Klin

You will a total amount of 10 Surtling Cores to build Smelter and Charcoal Klin. Once you get all the cores, you can build the structures. Now that you have the new structures, collect some Copper ores and Woods. Put your woods in Charcoal Klin to get Coal, then place the copper ores and coals into the Valheim Smelter structure to get Copper Bars.

Step 4 – Build Forge

Now that you can craft metal bars, craft 10 Copper bars to build the Forge structure. Once you have the Forge, you can place different metal bars in there and craft valuable items such as Bronze Axe.

If you don't know how to craft Bronze bars, make sure to check out the Valheim Mining Guide. Also, take a look at the Valheim Harpoon Guide if you need a powerful ranged weapon.

Valheim is now available on PC through Steam.

Valheim Mining Guide – How to Get Metals, Coppers, Tin, and Bronze

Valheim Mining

In almost a week from its launch, Valheim has already turned into one of the most trending video games with a lot of players jump into this early access survival experience to have fun. However, if you want to make progress in Valheim, you need to learn some essential tips, and the Valheim mining activities is one of the crucial ones.

Step 1 – Prepare for Mining

Before starting to mine various kinds of metals, you need to beat the first boss fight of the game and craft a Pickaxe for yourself. In order to store the Coppers you mine, you should build yourself a base, which we suggest to be built near the Black Forest region as it's where you will mine Copper.

Step 2 – Where to Mine Copper

After beating the first boss, try to move away from the starting zone until the name of the zone changes on the map, this is when you enter the Black Forest region. Keep in mind that the Black Forest is a dangerous place, though there are a lot of resources to collect. When you are in the region, you can find multiple Copper Deposits with a quick search. Look for massive rocks covered in moss and grass. When you put your cursor on them, you will the name "Copper Deposit" appears on the screen. Coppers are heavy, which means you can't carry a lot of them on your back. So, try to build your camp near to deposit to make the mining quick.

Step 3 – Where to Find Tin

While you are in the Black Forest region, head to the water and you will find some small rocks in dark-silver color near the water. They are Tin and you will need to mine and collect them to craft Bronze. Like Copper ore, Tin ore is also a heavy species in the world of Valheim and you wouldn't be able to carry more than 20 Ores on your back.

Step 4 – Craft Bronze and Build Items

Now that you have both Tin and Copper ores, you need to build Smelter and Forge to turn ores into useful metal bars. By putting ores and coals together in Smelter, you will get metal bars. If you combine Tin and Copper ores you can build Bronze bars. Take the bars to your Forge set-up and build every item you need.

Make sure to craft a Bronze Axe once you gathered all the resources you need for it. Having this item will open up a wide variety of new options and even more Valheim mining activities for you.

Valheim is now available on Steam for PC players.

Fortnite Cosplay — Which of Epic's Papercraft Masks Is the Best?

Fortnite Papercraft Cosplay, Epic Games, Valentine's Day

Fortnite is right in the thick of several upcoming events. Not only do they have their Valentine's Day event kicking off this week, but we just got word of a new Flash skin coming to the game as part of the Fortnite Flash Cup. However, Epic knows that fans want to get into the spirit of celebrating the game right now. So, today they've delivered the community a fun, new arts and crafts product. Now you can make your very own papercraft masks as part of the Valentine's Day festivities or for your next Fortnite cosplay. Check them out.

All three masks are pretty neat. And, present a great little project for anyone that needs to entertain a kid for an afternoon. Were I still in teaching, I'd probably suggest these to our art teacher as a fun project for our middle schoolers. That said, you don't have to be in middle school to enjoy Fortnite or build these masks. They're pretty rad regardless of your age.

Fortnite Heartbreaker Mask, Epic Games, Fortnite

Personally, I'm most taken with the Hearthbreaker mask. It's just so detailed and ridiculous. That said, it's also rated as the hardest mask to complete out of the three they have available. So, if you don't have five hours to kill, you might consider going with one of the others. The Wildcard mask is the easiest to complete, while the Lovethorn mask is somewhere in between.

Of course, there are also some mini papercraft figures you can download. These are meant to be even easier than the Wildcard mask and can be put together in under an hour. That sounds like a perfect option for anyone looking for a project to do inside this Valentine's Day.

Fortnite is available now on Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
