Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU may demand 600W from your PSU

It seems that Nvidia's strategy to hold on to the performance crown involves pushing its next-generation flagship GeForce RTX 4090 harder than any graphics card before it. Mounting reports indicate that the RTX 4000 GPU could demand up to 600W from your gaming PC's power supply.

Rumours surrounding the RTX 4090's sky-high TGP (total graphics power) have been circling the web for some time now, with many concerned they'll need to upgrade to a pricey 850W PSU in order to drive team green's top-tier card. Now, a source close to hardware leaker kopite7kimi shares that "the xx90 with 600W TGP has been confirmed." Strangely, however, they also say "it's too early to talk about it", which could indicate that this isn't necessarily finalised.

While the RTX 4090 will likely rank among the best graphics cards on the market when it finally launches, this kind of power draw may prove hard for both board partners and prospective buyers to accommodate. Manufacturers will need to create powerful air cooling solutions for the GPU, which could push up prices of what will be an already expensive component. Then, of course, there's the higher impact on your energy bills to consider, further harming the value proposition of the Nvidia's flagship.

Path of Exile is getting controller support on PC

Path of Exile has been available on consoles for a few years now, but unlike fellow action-RPG game Diablo 3, it's never added controller functionality to the PC version. That is, until now: an upcoming patch for Path of Exile will allow players to try beta version of controller support, letting you kick back from the keyboard while you slay the ancient horrors of Wraeclast.

The controller support beta will arrive in Path of Exile's 3.17.3 patch, developer Grinding Gear Games says, although it'll only be available in the Steam version of the free-to-play game. Once that patch arrives, you'll be able to switch over to controller by opening the input options panel and changing the input method to "Gamepad (Beta)."

Grinding Gear Games says the feature will be in beta until the 3.18 expansion arrives, which should be in early May. In the meantime, the developer says you should be prepared to run into occasional issues, even if you're using one of the best PC controllers on the market.

Overwatch 2 system requirements – prepare for the beta

Before you hop into the beta for Blizzard's long-awaited sequel to its hero shooter, you first need to know what the Overwatch 2 system requirements are asking for. The good news is that you definitely won't need to upgrade your gaming CPU, but the bad news is that you might not get away with Intel's integrated GPU like you can in the first game.

Alongside revealing the specs, Naeri notes that the sequel is more demanding than its predecessor. It's 67% bigger, demanding 50GB of storage rather than 30GB; increases the amount of gaming RAM you'll need to run it; makes the previous recommended graphics card requirements the minimum; and recommends an Intel i7 processor over the more gaming-focused i5.

That said, it still has a modest barrier to entry. It carries the same minimum processor requirements as the original; doesn't exceed 8GB of RAM in a world that now gravitates towards 16GB; and you won't need a graphics card that's capable of ray tracing in order to get in on the action. It also doesn't recommend an SSD, although you'll undoubtedly fare better with one.

     Vampire Survivors gets a

While developer Poncle regularly updates Vampire Survivors with new weapons, characters, and stages, it looks like something a tad bigger is on the horizon. Poncle teases that the indie game is getting "a new major game mechanic" in April.

Part of the appeal of Vampire Survivors is how runs can chop and change as you go. Something gets introduced like a new weapon or hero when you unlock a new achievement in the Early Access game. More recently, the developer added a dairy factory level that tasks you with completing an objective rather than simply killing oodles of foes. It remains to be seen how this "new major game mechanic" will affect the game, though we're sure it'll be wild.

The developer also reveals that we're getting a big ol' blog post soon that'll delve into the overall roadmap, game difficulty, power creep, and performance optimisation. The teases come from a more extensive blog post about Vampire Survivors' 0.3.1 patch. The update came out over the weekend, adding a bonus stage, weapon evolution, and new character to the indie game. As always, you've got a bevy of bug fixes, too.

14 minutes of Hogwarts Legacy gameplay is coming Thursday

A year and a half after it was announced, Warner Bros' upcoming Harry Potter universe RPG game Hogwarts Legacy is finally getting a full gameplay reveal later this week. WB Games says that around 14 minutes of the game is getting shown off, and it's coming at the new PlayStation State of Play this Thursday.

It's been less than a week since Sony's last State of Play stream, which included the likes of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collection, a Gundam arena FPS, and Capcom's "don't call it Dino Crisis" dinosaur game Exoprimal. Now Sony is ready to pump out another State of Play, and it'll focus entirely on Hogwarts Legacy.

The last official word fans had about the Harry Potter prequel RPG was way back in January 2021, where WB Games confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy would release in 2022. There are whispers that the game could release in September, and hopefully this gameplay reveal will come with a release date attached as well.

Ghostwire: Tokyo preview – dropping players in at the deep end

99% of Tokyo's population has mysteriously vanished into a thick fog, ghoulish entities patrol the land, and my body has been commandeered by a spirit. In my Ghostwire: Tokyo preview, I find myself hurling green gusts of energy at faceless businessmen while the spirit guides me through my newfound powers. Rushing through the deserted streets as I go, I pass piles of clothes strewn along the pavements and stairwells. These are all that remain of the city's inhabitants.

We're dropped into the shoes of Akito, one of the only survivors of the paranormal incident, who's on a mission to save his sister, Mari. However, KK - the mysterious ghost who now shares Akito's body - has other ideas. My preview session covers Ghostwire's opening two chapters, in which the pair realise they'll need each other's help to accomplish their goals and begrudgingly work together. Akito harnesses KK's elemental abilities, using wind, water, and fire to keep Tokyo's new ghoulish residents at bay as the pair search for the elusive group behind these strange events.

After the story-driven first chapter, Ghostwire opens up and I'm able to explore a portion of Tokyo in chapter two. Now shrouded in a thick mist, Akito must locate and cleanse Torii gates to reveal more of the map. There are thousands of human souls trapped in the city, and it's up to Akito to collect them using a katashiro (a Japanese paper doll), and eventually return them to their human hosts. Thankfully, there's a simple system for sending these helpless souls on their way - Tokyo's phone boxes double as soul repositories.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin system requirements

The Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin system requirements are finally here, and it looks like you won't need a particularly powerful gaming PC to run it. Developed by Koei Tecmo rather than Square Enix, this modern retelling of the first Final Fantasy could become one of the best JRPGs on PC. So, mark your calendars for the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin's release date of March 18.

You'll need the most popular graphics card on Steam to get Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin up and running, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060. However, it's important to note that you'll need the 6GB version of the card, as the 3GB model won't cut it. Looking to team red, an AMD Radeon RX 470 will do just fine. Partied up with the rest of the game's minimum specs, you can expect performance in the ballpark of 30fps at 720p.

The jump to the recommended specs isn't massive, and will net you a much sharper and smoother experience with 60fps at 1080p. We hope that the game will support AMD FSR or Nvidia DLSS, so users can easily boost fps. However, both of these technologies are unfortunately absent from the recent Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade PC port, so this may be wishful thinking.

Players make Genshin Impact bartender event recipes for real

There are always a lot of great events going on in Genshin Impact, the latest one turns the anime game into a bartending simulator. This Genshin Impact Of Drink A-Dreaming tasks players with making some fantastic drinks, and now the community is recreating those tasty beverages in real life. They're all non-alcoholic, incidentally.

Of Drink A-Dreaming is the latest Genshin Impact event and it's currently running in the game right now until March 21. It's basically a fun little bartending minigame where players have to create drinks based on various character requests - such as different coffee, tea, or juice mixtures.

They all sound quite delicious, which is why Reddit user electric_goldfish decided to find or recreate these drinks in real life. Some are obvious, like the "Dusk" mix of juice and tea being a regular Fruit Tea, and "Athenaeum" is just an espresso, but others seem more complicated. "Stroke of Night", for example, is equal parts tea, milk, and coffee, which electric_goldfish suggests could be the Hong Kong "Yuen Yueng" blend.

Valorant Jett guide: Cloudburst and Updraft spots

Jett is Valorant's resident rusher. With the ability to quickly smoke off areas with her Cloudburst ability, dart into the fray with Tailwind, and leap up to a powerful new position with Updraft, none of the Valorant characters can match Jett for mobility. If you learn the right routes you can seamlessly traverse high positions with her hover ability, and if you need to deal damage then her ult - Blade Storm - is a round winner in the right hands.

If you're thinking about maining Jett, understanding the most effective ways to use all of her abilities is key, not to mention learning their nuances - for example, very few people make use of Jett's ability to curve her Cloudbursts around corners.

Compared to Valorant's Sage, there are far fewer cute tricks you can play with Jett's abilities unless you really master that Cloudburst flick. However, there's still plenty to learn when it comes to Jett, so keep reading for a rundown of her abilities and how to use all of them.

The best Valheim weapons for combat

Looking for a guide to combat and weapons in Valheim? You've been carried to Valheim by winged Valkyries, and now you're tasked with surviving in the Norse wilderness - facing down greydwarfs, huge trolls, and dangerous rolling logs.

After you craft your first tools at a Valheim workbench and venture out into the wider world, you'll find an abundance of resources - and all kinds of dangerous enemies guarding them. There are several types of weapons you can craft - daggers, swords, axes, maces, and more - and each of them are effective against different types of enemies. Blunt weapons, such as clubs, are great against skeletons; slashing them with swords won't do much. You can tell how effective your weapons are by the colour of the damage you deal; grey means they are resistant, and yellow signifies the attack was super effective.

The part of the body in which you hit your foe also matters - so watch your aim. For most weapons, a series of left clicks executes a standard attack combo, your middle mouse button performs your secondary attack, and right click blocks - this is crucial. If you block at the perfect moment, you perform a parry; staggering the enemy for you to perform a critical hit.

Stranger of Paradise devs want to show Final Fantasy's dark side

Stranger of Paradise is out this week, and Final Fantasy Origin memes are plentiful thanks to the RPG's Chaos-filled trailers. Chaos actually reigns, though, because the devs are aiming to take a Final Fantasy story to a grittier place to help fill out the lore of the original NES game.

You see, back in 1987, when Final Fantasy was initially released, villains didn't get much time to develop a complex backstory, or an interesting character arc. "In a lot of old games, not much time is devoted to the backstory of the villain, or any of the characters other than the hero," producer Jin Fujiwara tells us.

Given how often villains are the most compelling part of a good JRPG, that's a real shame. Square Enix aims to change that in Stranger of Paradise by showing us the beginnings of Garland, who - despite not being all that fleshed out - remains an iconic Final Fantasy villain. Fujiwara hopes that by exploring Garland's backstory, players of the old games will be able to "enjoy those works more."

Valheim workbench upgrade and how to repair tools

One of the first things you need to build in Valheim is a workbench. Without this, you can't upgrade or craft new gear, or repair any of your broken tools. Although building a workbench initially is fairly simple, you'll soon discover that a bunch of upgrades and new gear are locked behind a higher tier of workbench, and your measly Level 1 workbench is only good for rags and basic tools. Not a good look if you want to take on the Valheim bosses and progress in the game.

When you start out in Valheim, you can pick up a few basic materials to craft a hammer, which is imperative to building structures. You need to house your workbench by building a roof so you can use it - we recommend building a full structure - using our Valheim building guide - so you can continue to add items such as chests, beds, and a cosy indoor campfire (properly ventilated, of course).

As you use your tools, whether that's a Valheim weapon in combat or an axe to chop down trees, you need to repair the damage they take - they will gradually accumulate wear and tear and eventually break. Here's how to upgrade your workbench in Valheim and how to repair tools using it.

Here's everything new in the Oculus Quest 2 v38 update

Meta is steadily rolling out the v38 update for its Oculus Quest 2 and older Quest VR headsets, implementing several social enhancements on the devices that should make playing the best VR games with your friends much easier. This firmware also contains changes that indicate we're slowly but surely getting closer to the launch of 'Horizon Home', the company's replacement for Quest Home.

After updating your Quest headset to v38, any apps within your App Library that have multiplayer capabilities will be automatically highlighted if you're in a party of two or more users. Additionally, anyone you've recently played online with can now be found within the 'Recently Met' menu accessed by pressing the Oculus home button when in an app, or by visiting the 'People' tab.

You can now place mixed reality sofas (that's couches if you're on the other side of the Atlantic) and desks in your Quest home environment. While this is undoubtedly part of Meta's wider plans to dominate the metaverse, it should also save you from bumping into their furniture while in the home menu and contributing to growing VR-related insurance claims. Tracked keyboards are now available too, if you fancy working with your headset on.

Final Fantasy Origin devs prefer your Chaos memes to no buzz at all

Whether or not you've been looking forward to Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, it's likely you've run across more than a few memes poking fun at the upcoming PC game's gritty tone. While moments like Jack getting his phone out and ignoring exposition in favour of music might be standouts, the undisputed king of Stranger of Paradise memes is protagonist Jack Garland's obsession with destroying Chaos, who is the big bad of the RPG.

Now, people talking about your new PC game should be a good thing. On the other hand, maybe people have latched onto the wrong part of the reveal. "Honestly, the amount of Chaos memes was not quite what we were expecting," producer Jin Fujiwara tells us. (We're not sure anyone was expecting the volume of memes we got, to be fair.) Fujiwara says that the jokes are "better than if it wasn't being talked about at all." You can now scratch off the idea that it was a PR-led move.

Even if any PR is good PR, that doesn't mean it's what you're aiming for. Fujiwara says that he'd prefer people to be talking about getting a new Final Fantasy action game, rather than just the Chaos thing.

Elden Ring speedrun record is now under 30 minutes

Elden Ring is a massive and challenging open-world game that most players will spend dozens of hours exploring, but speedrunners are taking the game's size itself as the ultimate challenge. Now someone has taken on the Elden Ring speedrun world record and brought it down to under 30 minutes.

It was incredibly impressive when player niko bellic beat one of the biggest and best RPGs on PC in under two hours barely a week after launch. It was even more impressive when classic Souls runner LilAggy recorded the first sub-hour speedrun. Leaderboards on Speedrun.com and the SpeedSouls wiki still aren't available, but there's already a new time - and, once again, it's halved the previous record.

Today, runner Distortion2 streamed a brand new Elden Ring speedrun record that, at the final count, clocks in at a ridiculous 29:27 minutes. I spent more time in the game's character creator than that. The streamer actually recorded several record-breaking times in the last few days, but this is the first time that they've brought it down to under half an hour.

How to use Grave and Ghost Elden Ring Glovewort

If you want to upgrade your summons in Elden Ring, you're going to need either Grave Glovewort or Ghost Glovewort to do so. The latter is used to upgrade elite summons, but for early game spirits, you can use Grave Glovewort. So, where can you find these elusive plants?

Grave Glovewort has a long green stem with silvery white petals. Ghost Glovewort is similar in appearance, but instead it has an ethereal glow and spectral leaves that make it slightly easier to spot. Both plants can be found throughout the Lands Between, usually tucked away in Elden Ring dungeons, or acquired from enemy and Elden Ring boss drops. You can also buy Glovewort from merchants, and sometimes obtain them through Elden Ring quests for the various NPCs.

If you are struggling to find these upgrade materials, you can always refer to the interactive map to see known locations and areas. Both plants boost your Elden Ring summons' stats, increasing attack, defence, HP, or the size of the summon party. Here's how to unlock spirit summons upgrades in Elden Ring and complete Roderika's questline.

League of Legends patch 12.6 notes – Anima Squad skins, new Rune

The League of Legends updates are coming thick and fast. LoL patch 12.5 has hit the live server, introducing a wonderful selection of bee-inspired skins to the MOBA. Don't bee-lieve for one second, though, that's all we got. Riot has tweaked Master Yi and Seraphine with some solid changes, while several other LoL champs got some quality-of-life adjustments, too.

Now, though, it's time to look toward LoL patch 12.6. We're sticking with the animal theme this time around as the new Anima Squad skins have hit the PBE. If you've been out of the loop, a few champions - such as Vayne, Miss Fortune, and Jinx - are getting some punky skins themed around bats, bunnies, cats, and more. You can check out the in-game clips of these in action and their splash art in the skins section below.

We're still quite early into the patch cycle, but we're starting to see some champion changes. Keep checking in, though, as we'll keep this post regularly updated.

Get a Better Look at Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising Gameplay

Ahead of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, there will be a prequel game that involves building a town. Now before its 2022 debut, there's another look at what to expect. A new IGN preview showed off Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising gameplay. It shows what it's like to try and build up New Naveah with the playable characters CJ, Garoo, and Isha.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is an action-RPG, rather than a turn-based one like coming title. CJ is going through a rite of passage as a Scavenger, which brought her to New Naveah. That's where Isha, the town's acting mayor, is offering folks a chance to search the town's Runebarrows for treasure. Coincidentally, Garoo is there looking for treasure as well.

In the Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising gameplay trailer, it begins with the trio looking around town. They look around and stay in an inn, for example. From there, they head outside of town to deal with monsters stirred up by local earthquakes. Along the way, they'll also use their tools to collect resources.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising will come to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC in Spring 2022. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is expected to release in 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Berserk model watches Guts Griffith watch preorder at SuperGroupies pre-order

SuperGroupies revealed Berserk model watches for the characters Guts and Griffith. The Berserk model watches are available to pre-order until April 3, 2022 at 8pm PT/11pm ET. They each cost $228.00 before tax and they will begin shipping in early October 2022.

The Berserk Guts watch is dark silver with dark red accents, drawing inspiration from both the Berserker Armor and the Brand of Sacrifice. The iconic Dragon Slayer sword is featured at 6 o'clock as well. A quote from Berserk is even etched into the back of the watch, referencing the Dragon Slayer: "It was much too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy and far too rough. Indeed, it was like a heap of raw iron."

Meanwhile, the Griffith watch is designed to look more elegant. The white, gold, and hint of navy blue take inspiration from the "Hawk of Light" armor. Likewise, the saber Griffith wields is located at 6 o'clock. The back of this watch contains an etched quote from Griffith: "I told you once... I will... ...get my own kingdom."

You can view some images of the multifunctional Berserk model watches below.

The manga Berserk has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide to date, and volume 41 released in Japan in December. It may potentially be the final volume, as creator Kentaro Miura passed away in May 2021 with the story unfinished. Publisher Hakusensha has not yet announced whether it intends to finish Miura's story using Miura's art studio, Studio Gaga.

The Berserk watches are available to pre-order through April 3, 2022 and will ship in early October 2022. Each one comes in its own exclusive box.

Genshin Impact White Day Official Art Stars Zhongli, Thoma

March 14th is White Day, and miHoYo is again celebrating the occasion with official Genshin Impact art for characters like Zhongli. The holiday is similar to Valentine's Day and involves tokens of affection. However, the idea is that people give gifts to folks who gave them gifts on February 14th. This year, three characters appeared to honor the occasion. In addition to Zhongli, Thoma and Kaeya also appeared.

Each of these pieces of Genshin Impact White Day art is accompanied by text suggesting that specific character is doing something for the occasion for the reader. In each case, a desert or treat is offered. So first, here's Kaeya offering someone cookies with wine in them.

Next is Thoma with chocolate he made for the reader.

And finally there's Zhongli asking someone to join him for tea.

This is actually the second time in a row Zhongli appeared in official Genshin Impact White Day art. He also appeared in 2021 with a message. Childe art showed up that year too.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. It will also come to the Nintendo Switch.

Kevin Penkin is Sin Chronicle main composer

Kevin Penkin shared his thoughts and experiences on composing songs for the Sin Chronicle soundtrack. Sega published an interview video featuring the mobile game's leading composer.

Penkin talked about some of the key themes he had composed for Sin Chronicle, such as the Home menu screen music and theme songs for the game's two heroines—Chloe and Sera. The Made in Abyss composer also explained the differences between writing tracks for games and anime shows. However, he has a similar approach to begin composing themes for both kinds of media.

Toward the end of the video, Penkin shared his experience composing the game's soundtrack amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The composer revealed that he worked on the main theme of Sin Chronicle with Sega staff members in Japan. The group completed the theme just before countries underwent lockdowns. Since Penkin had to return to Australia, he composed the other tracks remotely while still participating in regular online meetings.

[tnm_video layout="mnmd-post-media"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8lF5D0lZi8[/tnm_video]

During the initial reveal at Tokyo Game Show 2021, Sega announced that it had appointed Kevin Penkin as the main composer for Sin Chronicle. The mobile game will also have an extensive list of renowned Japanese composers participating as guests. Yoko Shimomura, Yasunori Mitsuda, Masashi Hamauzu, Kenji Ito, Yuzo Koshiro, and Masato Kouda will provide more songs to the soundtrack.

Sin Chronicle will appear on Android and iOS mobile devices in Japan on March 23, 2022.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina sales surpass 270,000 units total sold worldwide - Arcueid Brunestud

Melty Blood: Type Lumina sales have surpassed 270,000 units worldwide as of March 2022. Project Lumina will reveal more new information about the fighting game at an official tournament stream on April 10, 2022. [Thanks, Gamer!]

Project Lumina will hold its first official tournament and stream it live on the Type-Moon Games YouTube channel. The group has opened free registrations for the tournament, which will remain open until March 28, 2022. However, it limits the entries to residents of Japan with a good understanding of the Japanese language.

The tournament will have a total of 128 participants put into four preliminary groups with a single-elimination bracket. The top two players in each group will advance to the finals, which will have a double-elimination format.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina was released simultaneously worldwide on September 30, 2021. DelightWorks originally published the fighting game. However, following a company split and its eventual transfer to Aniplex, the official site now lists Lasengle as the new publisher. The game's promotion team has been using Project Lumina as its entity name in Japanese press releases since its first reveal. In January 2022, the group added Aoko Aozaki and Dead Apostle Noel as free DLC characters.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina is available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. It is one of the nine fighting games that will appear at Evo 2022.

Soul Hackers 2 second trailer Phantom Society enemies

Atlus released the second full trailer for Soul Hackers 2, this time introducing members of the different devil summoner factions throughout the game. This one focuses on the Phantom Society, an antagonistic group of devil summoners that comes into conflict with Aion, the sentient data collective that spawns protagonists Ringo and Figue.

Check out the second Soul Hackers 2 trailer below. English subtitles are available in the closed captions. Note that the trailer exposes some story cutscenes. Players that want to avoid any possible spoilers may wish to refrain from watching.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGBxHXf5OVA

The Soul Hackers 2 trailer shows a violent interaction between Iron Mask and Zenon, two members of the Phantom Society, and Ichiro Onda, a member of New Ward 24 Telecoms Research and Development Center. The Phantom Society seeks out a "Covenant" in Onda's possession. Those who possess enough Covenants will be able to bring about the end of the world, a phenomenon Ringo and Figue intend to stop. Other previously revealed characters like Arrow, Milady, and Saizo get some exposure in the new trailer as well.

Demons like Cu Chulainn and Kudlak feature during a brief gameplay segment. Fights with other devil summoners, including Zenon, are also teased.

Updates on the official website provide more details about the characters introduced in the Soul Hackers 2 trailer, including voice credits for the Phantom Society and other new characters. Iron Mask is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura, who also played Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen and Hawks in My Hero Academia. Zenon is voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu, who played M in Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online. Ichiro Onda is voiced by Kentaro Ito, who played Renji Abarai in Bleach.

Soul Hackers 2 releases for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on August 25, 2022 in Japan and globally on August 26, 2022. The first promo trailer was released in February.

Mia Ikumi Died, passing away at age 42 following a brain

Mia Ikumi, the manga artist known for her work on the popular anime and manga series Tokyo Mew Mew, has died. Ikumi passed away on March 7, 2022, due to a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage. The artist's close friends and family held a private funeral. She was 42 years old. [Thanks, Oricon.]

Ikumi was born in 1979 in Osaka, Japan. At the age of 18, the artist won Nakayoshi magazine's Newcomer's Award in 1998 for her debut manga, Usagi no Terasu Hoshi. Kodansha later serialized another one of her manga, Super Doll Licca-chan, in 1998. In 2000, she co-created Tokyo Mew Mew with screenwriter Reiko Yoshida. Tokyo Mew Mew ran until 2003 and received an anime adaptation in 2002. Ikumi later released a two-chapter sequel to the original manga series, Tokyo Mew Mew Re-turn, in 2020.

A reboot of the anime series is set to begin in July 2022, which Ikumi supervised. Alongside the new anime, Kodansha also announced a re-release of the original manga series in February 2022. The re-release will feature new illustrations and cover art from the artist herself.

https://twitter.com/nakayosi_manga/status/1503204605882118144?s=20&t=HNkGh_rCFbhh9BoiMIkgdg

Nakayoshi magazine's editorial division broke the news that Mia Ikumi had died in a press release. In it, the magazine revealed that Ikumi had supervised the anime's production for over two years, and she was reportedly excited for the series to begin alongside the new manga's release. Furthermore, the production team stated that they hope to fulfill Ikumi's last wish and continue working diligently towards the anime's release.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin came as something of a surprise when it was announced in June 2021. The collaboration between Square Enix and Team Ninja genuinely threw me off, especially with its desaturated announcement trailer full to bursting with exaggerated violence. It seemed like a complete deviation from Final Fantasy as a brand, but as more information about the game began to pour out I became increasingly more interested in the story of Jack Garland and his companions. And if Stranger of Paradise does one thing, it commits to what it sets out to do. That is to tell the story of Jack on his mission to kill Chaos.

The narrative of Stranger of Paradise is a relatively simple one. It follows Jack Garland on his quest to kill Chaos. He is joined on his journey by a cast of what initially are mostly unremarkable characters, thrown together haphazardly to form a party. Jed, Ash, Neon, and Sophia follow Jack, each with their own motivations. However, as the game progresses and the player learns more about them, they serve as welcome additions to the story. Each interacts with Jack in mostly similar ways, but have their own way of going about it. Party banter during missions gives the player a clue as to what these people are like, outside of what the story slowly unravels. Neon and Sophia are also great, since the game doesn't relegate them to treading the same ground as other female characters in the Final Fantasy series for the most part.

And despite everything, Jack is overall a great protagonist for Stranger of Paradise. He has a couple of great scenes (one of which that involves him dropping the F-bomb), but he is generally unlike anyone in the Final Fantasy series so far. Jack is rough around the edges, but not in an overly abrasive way. Or at least in a way that isn't outright cruel to his friends. There are some truly great moments in the game that hammer in his general lack of patience, and I found him oddly refreshing despite his generic design and rough attitude.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin

The story itself is sometimes convoluted, with bits of important lore tucked away in Lufenian Files players can collect through the variety of stages. Side missions also provide some flavor text in their description. However, it isn't the script and its sometimes nonsensical presentation of important information that ruins the experience. Some cutscenes are oddly thrown together or cut off abruptly. It makes it appear as though the game wasn't potentially given enough time in the oven.

Story missions can also feel overly long, with the environmental design varying between being actually interesting or just boring. Team Ninja's spin on notable Final Fantasy locations sometimes hits the mark, but Dimension 7 (Final Fantasy VII) stuck out as particularly lackluster. And yes, the game does make nods to previous Final Fantasy games in very obvious ways. Not just through level design, but also through the music that plays throughout. There are some really great songs there, however, particularly in Dimension 8 and Dimension 10. All of these areas feature remixed tracks of scores fans of the series are more than familiar with.

Gameplay for the title is similar to Nioh 2, in the way that it is mostly fast-paced and there is some level of expectation that the player will be countering and breaking enemies when the opportunities present themselves. Every enemy will have a stagger bar players can break through the use of attacks. These include standard attacks and special attacks that cost mana. Upon breaking an enemy, Jack can then grab them and turn them into vibrant, red crystals which he promptly crushes with his feet, hands, or fists. It's always a spectacle and never gets boring. You can also effectively parry certain enemy attacks to obtain their unique skills, which can then be flung back at them. Initially, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to keep up, but the game provides enough breathing room to allow for players to grow accustomed to the variety of mechanics you can use. These systems feel layered. When using everything you've learned to overcome challenges, it is genuinely a lot of fun. And this all works in tandem with the Job Class system, which has something of a unique spin compared to how it has appeared in other Final Fantasy games.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin

Players can seamless swap between any two Job Classes they've selected on the fly while in combat or roaming missions. I primarily stuck to Sage, which was unlocked by leveling up two prerequisite Job Classes, while alternating between Dark Knight and Berserker as my more offensive options for my playthrough. The way players unlock Job Classes incentivizes them to give every option a shot, which is good. It not only allows for a greater sense of variety, but also lets players potentially discover their affinity for a Job Class they might not have otherwise selected. I was genuinely surprised at how much fun I had playing a Monk that I ended up making it part of my regular rotation if I would ever get bored of being a Dark Knight.

Each Job Class also has their own unique attacks and skills. These can be layered into Advanced Job Classes like the Dark Knight, which allowed for me to pull attacks from the Job Classes I had to level in order to unlock it. It created a nice sense of variety, as all of these systems come together in very satisfying ways. Skills are unlocked through a skill tree system as players level up their individual Job Classes. However, using the Affinity system through equipping gear allows for passive accumulation of levels. So the grind isn't really all that bad in terms of skill progression, since you can also use Anima Shards to pump levels into whatever Job Class you're not particularly interested in playing. I did this to unlock the Ninja Job Class later in the game, as I had neglected Duelist and Thief fairly early on in favor of White Mage and Black Mage.

Thankfully, you can also swap your assigned Job Classes outside of needing to head to The Cube. The Cube has several purposes outside of serving as a checkpoint for Stranger of Paradise's mission-based levels. This is where players can level up their Job Classes (or unlock new ones) during missions or swap out their party members. You can also change the Job Classes of your party members while at The Cube, which adds another level of flexibility. If you want to take a more backseat approach and fling spells as a Black Mage and allow Jed, Ash, Sophia, or Neon to lead the way, you can. I spent a bulk of my time using Sophia, who I assigned the Dragoon Job Class to, and Jed as my primary party members. The Job Classes these two characters can obtain are great at breaking down the stamina bars of common enemies and bosses.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin

Players can also obtain extra stat bonuses through equipping gear that share affinities with certain Job Classes. After reaching a certain percentage, these passives are unlocked and applied to your character. However, these are not retained if you choose to swap out your equipment. At higher difficulties, these passives feel more important, but are something players can largely ignore and face no consequences if playing on Story or Casual difficulty. It does, however, add a level of texture to the game that creates a more layered experience overall in more challenging difficulties. Though, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin could do with a better explanation of these systems, and what they affect. As I still hadn't quite understood some of the finer details until I was roughly level 60.

And while equipment remains relatively important, it is unfortunate the inventory system in Stranger of Paradise is less than optimal. There is no easy way to sort equipment and dismantle it with more than a couple of button presses. It feels less than intuitive, and could do with some serious streamlining. Especially as you end up collecting swaths of different equipment the more you progress the game. Sometimes I would end up having a full inventory after a handful of missions and would take a good five to ten minutes navigating my menu, deciding on what to discard or keep.

The design of the equipment itself is also less than remarkable, and I never found any set I particularly liked or was drawn to. Everything is mostly in muted colors and consists of whites, grays, and blacks. There wasn't anything particularly exciting or worthwhile grinding for, in terms of appearance. Nothing is particularly fantastical and falls more in line with mundane outfits you would find in Final Fantasy XV. Fedoras included. Not that it matters, as you'll constantly be swapping out equipment at any opportunity.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin

Another issue with the equipment system is how it limits what pieces players can distribute to their companion character. Who can equip what feels random at best. I would pick up pieces of equipment that felt like it would be a good fit for Neon, who ended up as my designated Red Mage, only to realize the item was not compatible with her. Worst case scenario, you will go entire levels without receiving new pieces of equipment for some of your characters. Which can be incredibly frustrating.

Accessibility options are also few and far between. There are several different difficulty options however, which make the game feel more approachable. And those looking to play alone can switch to the Story difficulty if they're solely interested in the narrative. Subtitles are available and fairly legible. However, the general user interface uses a very thin font that can be hard to read on smaller displays.

And it's these things that accumulate to dampen the overall experience in Stranger of Paradise. Underneath all of these issues, it is a great game with a lot of heart. But it is unfortunately held back by lackluster presentation of what could be an interesting story and the accumulation of the general lack of quality of life issues. It just feels like such a step back from Nioh 2, which is almost impossible to ignore. Especially since you would think a lot of these systems would be carried into Stranger of Paradise. Ultimately, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will please those who are willing to buy into the ideas it presents wholesale and is a solid action game. However, despite all of the praises I have to sing for it, it's obvious that this game was made for a very specific audience in mind and won't be for everyone.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on March 18, 2022.

soul hackers 2 hare inaba

Ringo's Soul Hackers 2 daily demon digest and horoscope today focuses on the Hare of Inaba. In Japanese, it is called the Inaba Shiro Usagi and is a character from Izumo mythology. Like previous demon trailers, it follows the frame story of Ringo using her powers to predict the future, with the demon bearing a message for a star sign.

There are multiple versions of the myth of the Hare of Inaba. For example, one story tells of how it tricked crocodiles into forming a bridge for it to cross a river. After it finishes crossing, it reveals what it did and a crocodile tears off its fur in retaliation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvSe0PaWRic

According to the Soul Hackers 2 trailer for the Hare of Inaba, today's luckiest signs are Scorpio, Libra, and Leo. As the Hare of Inaba is a god of marriage, this means that today, you may meet a special someone. Although, Ringo does warn that whether you can pick the right person is up to you. As for its combat prowess, the Hare of Inaba uses Zio on Saizo and kicks Milady with a normal physical attack.

Previous Soul Hackers 2 demon trailers featured Dormarth and Bugbear (Bugs).

Soul Hackers 2 will come out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC on August 25, 2022 in Japan and on August 26, 2022 in North America and Europe.

kyoani shop closing

Kyoto Animation announced it is closing down the KyoAni & Do Shop physical store on March 14, 2022. The closing will not affect the online KyoAni Shop. The company intends to refurbish the building into a workplace for its new employees.

https://twitter.com/kyoani/status/1503175876481269760

The KyoAni & Do Shop was a physical store located in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture. Opened in 2017, the store sold merchandise from various Kyoto Animation anime franchises. However, Kyoto Animation temporarily closed the location after the 2019 arson attack that occurred at one of its separate offices. The company had initially intended to re-open the shop in 2020 but postponed plans after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan.

In an official press release, Kyoto Animation thanked fans for their support over the years. It also stated that the store closing was a difficult decision to make. In light of an increase in staff, however, the company plans to turn the store location into a new office. Specifically, Kyoto Animation stated that it is "determined to reconstruct the store space into a workplace to provide more sufficient work and meet the fans' requests."

Kyoto Animation is the animation studio behind popular anime series such as NichijouMiss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, and Lucky Star. The studio is also working on the Free! series, which is getting its latest and final feature film release in April 2022.

The KyoAni & Do Shop is closing on March 14, 2022. Fans can still purchase Kyoto Animation merchandise on the KyoAni Shop! Online store. International shipping is unavailable at this time.

soul hackers 2 dormarth bugbear bugs trailer horoscope Atlus

Like what it did leading up to Shin Megami Tensei V, Atlus is releasing daily demon digests for Soul Hackers 2. Over the weekend, it showed off how Dormarth and Bugbear will appear in Soul Hackers 2. The two have appeared previously in other games from Atlus.

The video series, which has the title "Daily Ringo & Demon's Horoscope," has the frame story of Ringo using her powers to predict the future. In this case, the future consists of what demons to expect in the game. On March 12, 2022, the demon she saw for Soul Hackers 2 was Dormarth, with Scorpio being the luckiest star sign of the day.

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gReRMHCSXHY[/embed]

The March 13, 2022 Soul Hackers 2 video focused on Bugbear. Instead of Ringo and Milady fighting like in the Dormarth video, Saizo and Arrow are the ones who get to show off their moves. Bugbear retaliates after Saizo's attack by spitting out a miasma that hits the whole party. The luckiest star sign of the day is Taurus, and Ringo notes that Bugbear represents a resolution to your relationship issues. Bugbear is alternatively known as Bugs.

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSzF6UDJ45Y[/embed]

Soul Hackers 2 will focus on Ringo, an artificial being who works as an agent for Aion. Unlike in previous games such as Persona 5 or Shin Megami Tensei V, Ringo is a protagonist with voiced dialogue and a canon personality.

Soul Hackers 2 will come out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC on August 25, 2022 in Japan and on August 26, 2022 in North America and Europe.

.hack//GU Last Recode hack series survey last recode

Bandai Namco opened up a survey asking players for their opinions on hack//GU Last Recode, as well as the series as a whole. You will need a Bandai Namco ID to be able to access the question form. While the link to the questionnaire is via the series's Japanese website, the survey is mostly in English so those who do not know Japanese can complete it as well. [Thanks, Rekka Alexiel!]

[embed]https://twitter.com/RekkaAlexiel/status/1502135076163055619?t=yYb32CVm1LlTfDK6zfzhNA&s=09[/embed]

There are a few questions that did not get a translation. For example, the second question asks about player satisfaction on different aspects of the game. "Differences and additions from the previous game's rules and game system" is on the list in Japanese rather than English. Number 12 asks you to tell Bandai Namco previous hack// games you've played, and number 13 asks what you like from the series. Number 14 asks where the series can improve, and lastly, number 15 asks which game you would like a remake for.

This survey focuses on hack//GU Last Recode, with open-ended questions to talk about other games in the series. It is not a new entry, but rather a remake of the hack//GU games from the PlayStation 2. It does have a new chapter, though. Aside from graphics and visuals differences, there are a few changes in the system as well. These include quality-of-life changes like shortcuts and sort features, as well as gameplay changes like restarting a battle from the beginning.

hack//GU Last Recode is available worldwide on the PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch.
