Fan-made Lego Elden Ring build recreates The Lands Between

One of the most popular tributes videogame fans enjoy making are Lego builds of their favourite games, and this custom-made Lego Elden Ring build is a perfect example. Recently, we've seen takes on Lego Terraria and a stop-motion Lego Minecraft short, to name just a couple - and now someone has recreated The Lands Between with a pile of the beloved plastic bricks.

Reddit user binks_sake_enjoyer has built their own small-scale take on the Elden Ring map, from the crimson-stained wastelands of Caelid down in the south curving all the way around through the forests and plains of Limgrave, into the wetlands of Liurnia of the Lakes, and up to the Altus Plateau and the Mountaintops of the Giants.

The only notable missing spot is Farum Azula, though one user in the comments of the Reddit thread jokes that the top-down photograph of the build could have been taken from the perspective of someone there. Other commenters suggest a large prebuilt Lego tree to stand in place of the giant Erdtree.

MMO Conan Exiles update 3.0 leaks reveal sorcery, monetization

The MMO game set in the lands of Conan the Barbarian just received a big leak, as the big new Conan Exiles update has been completely revealed thanks to a new video. 'Age of Sorcery' is the apparent name of Conan Exiles 3.0, which not only will bring a new magical class to the survival game, it'll add new monetization options too - including a battle pass.

Conan Exiles hit version 1.0 in 2018 and 2.0 in 2020, and it looks like the fantasy game's 3.0 update will hit in Q3 2022. As spotted by MassivelyOP, a leaked developer video completely reveals Funcom's plans for the massive new Conan Exiles: Age of Sorcery expansion - which, as the name suggests, will add magic classes to the game, albeit more "physically grounded" than other fantasy games to make it more in line with creator Robert E. Howard's world.

In Conan Exiles, magic will be broken up into rituals and spells. Spells are a little more traditional, but rituals are more crafting-focused and involve creating different altars and stones to sacrifice unwitting participants to gain minions, mounts, and even fast travel points.

Team Fortress 2 charity event is a reversed Mann vs Machine

A new Team Fortress 2 charity event to benefit victims of the war in Ukraine flips the free-to-play game's popular Mann vs Machine mode on its head, positioning players as the evil robot horde looking to blow up the Red base. If you've never played the FPS game's popular co-operative mode, commonly referred to as MvM, it's a wave survival game where you defend your base against a horde of robots, while upgrading your character's stats and abilities between rounds.

Now you have the chance to turn the tables, as Operation Rewired Rampage, which runs from June 17 - August 26, puts you in the shoes of the attacking robots. The aim is to fight your way to the Red base and deposit a bomb into a hole in the front yard, much as the enemy robots do in the regular MvM mode. The event is hosted by MvM community site Potato.tf and features "over 20 missions across 14 different maps."

Operation Rewired Rampage is being held in aid of Direct Relief, an humanitarian organisation currently focused on supporting victims of the war in Ukraine. So far, the charity drive has already surpassed its initial $10,000 goal and is currently closing in on the $12,000 mark at the time of writing.

The 'Crazy Cat Person' Skyrim mod just got a 2.0 overhaul

There are many fantastic The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim mods out there but, in our unbiased opinion, the best Skyrim mod of all time allows the Dragonborn to own a cute little kitty cat. No, not a Khajiit. Now, the mod that turns the RPG game into a crazy cat person simulator has received an overhaul to be "more lightweight, intuitive, and immersive". And add cat-napping.

The well-regarded Skyrim mod A Cat's Life launched in 2020 with the express purpose of adding cat ownership to the fantasy game. With the mod, you can feed, pet, and adopt cats off the streets, or head to one of two brand new cat shops in Whiterun and Riften to buy one directly, along with various feline supplies. There's even a new achievement called "crazy cat person."

Now, A Cat's Life 2.0 is here, which modder Darkfox127 describes as a "completely rescripted version of the mod built almost from the ground up to be more lightweight, intuitive and immersive." The overhaul adds more polish, more options, and - if you're an evil, thieving sort - cat-napping, if you want to live out your cat-stealing fantasies. You'll get a bounty put on your head if you do, though, and it'd be well-deserved.

One of the ways Steam wormed its way into every inch of PC gaming was by releasing useful tools that make developers' lives easier. Epic would like their Epic Games Store to also be wormy, and an early step is, hey, still about Steam. The Epic Online Services SDK 1.15, released this week, includes tools that let developers enable crossplay between players on Epic Games Store and players of the same game on Steam.

First-person tactical shooter Ready Or Not disappeared from Steam on June 16th, prompting a flurry of rumours as to why. Now it's back and the developers say that the removal was because a "takedown request was issued via Steam concerning a suggested trademark infringement in our recent Night Club map."

Throwback first-person shooters are penny a bushel at the moment, but while most aim to replicate the boomsticks of Quake, Agent 64: Spies Never Die mimics the PPKs and hacking gadgetry of another 90's classic. Maybe the name gives it away: it's Rare's GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64, and there's currently a demo available to play as part of the Steam Next Fest.

pokemon evolutionary stones merchandise header

The Pokemon Company will release merchandise involving the evolutionary stones from the Pokemon series from June 25, 2022. Costs will start from 660 JPY (around $4.90), with items such as keychains and pouches available. In Japanese, the collection's name is "SHINKA NO ISHI," which literally translates to "evolutionary stone." [Thanks, Game Watch!]

The basic concept of the merchandise revolves around Pokemon holding their respective evolutionary stone. They are also shown thinking about what they will look like after they use it. Illustrator Yukie Nakauchi designed the Pokemon.

Here is list of goods that you will be able to purchase, as well as the price points for them.

  • Evolutionary stone fake display set (9900 JPY)
  • Keychains (1650 JPY each)
  • Pouch (1760 JPY each)
  • Brooch collection (990 JPY)
  • Earrings (1320 JPY each)
  • Clip-on earrings (1320 JPY each)
  • Necklace (1540 JPY each)

Pokemon that appear in this collection include Alolan Vulpix, Minccino, Lampent, Clefairy, and Kirlia. Pikachu is also there, of course. As a result, the evolutionary stones that are in the collection are the ones that you will use to evolve these Pokemon. For example, Minccino uses the Shiny Stone, so merchandise will always pair the Pokemon with it.

The Pokemon evolutionary stones merchandise will come out in Japan on June 25, 2022. However, the online store does not offer international shipping. The newest Pokemon installments, Scarlet and Violet are in development and will release on November 18, 2022 for the Nintendo Switch.

Cloud Gardens is a Calming, Zen Experience on the Switch

The Nintendo Switch is a pretty great system for indie games. Something small and manageable. It'd be good on a PC or kind of console that demands a TV. But there's something extra convenient and soothing about the portable opportunity. The Cloud Gardens Switch port is perfectly suited for that sort of experience.

For those who missed it on other platforms, Cloud Gardens is both a puzzle game and sandbox experience. In the campaign, you go through different post-apocalyptic scenes. In each one, the world is dilapidated and filled with remnants of those who came before. It is up to the player to plant seeds. You then place more debris and items around to encourage the plants to grow. As they do, you can collect their flowers and trimmings to eventually earn more seeds.

Cloud Gardens is a Calming, Zen Experience on the Switch

Your goal is to fill a certain percentage of each area with greenery. Once you do, you unlock the next. You'll also earn any items or seeds found in the previous stage for the custom, freeform gardens you can tend. Eventually, you'll also get tools to make sucking up parts of plants to get more seeds easier. There is also a chainsaw for pruning. Not to mention you can call back some placed items to readjust the scene.

So, as for why this is so great on the Switch, it is because everything in Cloud Gardens' nature is suited to it. Its aesthetic doesn't focus on highly detailed visuals. This means there aren't any compromises. It isn't like the Xbox or PC versions look much better than the Switch one. It's comparable. It also works well in terms of the controls. It's easy to tap, place, and adjust to get things set up the way you'd like. The nature of it makes it easy to pick up and go. Creating and sharing screenshots is simple. Also, the port runs well on the system.

It also fits in well with some of its contemporaries already on the platform. For example, anyone who has Townscaper on their Switch would likely enjoy Cloud Gardens too. It's the same sort of vibe. Yes, there can be more of a point and objective here. But it all comes down to building something up at your leisure and often going more for aesthetics than any sort of goal.

Cloud Gardens is simply a good fit for the Nintendo Switch. It isn't demanding. This means it runs well on the system. It also means it doesn't take up too much of your time and can be played at someone's leisure. It's just a relaxing oasis.

Cloud Gardens will come to the Nintendo Switch on June 16, 2022. It is immediately available on the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
