It sounded like a miracle: Nvidia's new budget GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card, priced at just $550, would perform even better than last generation's $1,600 RTX 4090.      Starfield isn't dead as Bethesda promises

It feels like a very, very long time since we had something to shout about in regards to Starfield. While there's been a steady trickle of Bethesda-approved and supported Creations mods, we haven't had a game update of any magnitude since November last year - that's over three and a half months ago. There have also been no teasers or comments on the RPG's next DLC, which will hopefully deliver a more memorable experience than the mediocre Shattered Space. Acknowledging that things have been a little quiet lately, Bethesda has now come out to say that it has "a lot of exciting things" planned for Starfield in 2025.

Despite boasting a gorgeous recreation of Hong Kong Island and having some excellent heritage earned from past games in the series, there's no escaping the fact that things have been challenging for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. The open-world, MMO-style racing game has been plagued with issues and has some concerningly low player counts. However, with Season 3, it's got a chance at winning players back. It's switched up some of its previously announced content plans for this season in order to deliver some of the TDU community's "most requested changes and additions," which include more solo experiences, the return of Convoy missions, and new customization options, alongside the standard slate of a new Solar Pass and cars.

One of the most overlooked and underrated FPS games is finally back with new DLC

What I like best about Robocop Rogue City is how it functions as a kind of 'anti FPS.' Normally in shooters, as well as doling out the punishment, you've got to move fast and make use of cover, but in Rogue City, you're literally Robocop. There is a health bar and you can die, but the dynamic is completely flipped - imagine a dungeon raid in an RPG, or an endgame boss fight, except you're the boss. One of the biggest sleeper hits in Steam history, after more than a year of silence, Robocop Rogue City is finally back with a new expansion, the aptly titled Unfinished Business.

Cthulhu The Cosmic Abyss is a new investigative horror game channeling Outlast

I vividly remember the first time my cousin and I played Outlast. "It'll terrify you," she said. "It's like that FEAR game we played, but worse." As we climbed into Mount Massive Asylum, sneaking our way through its corridors, there's that iconic moment where a body drops from the ceiling. We quickly switched the game off and watched Felix 'PewDiePie' Kjellberg play the rest of it. Yet, investigative horror games are a genre I can't help but go back to - despite the inevitable screams and panic, there's so many thrills lurking in the dark. murasaki shion graduate hololive

Murasaki Shion of hololive will graduate from the agency on April 26, 2025. Her membership and exclusive member content will remain on YouTube until July 26, 2025.

On her X (formerly Twitter) account, Shion made a post about her upcoming graduation. She thanks everyone for supporting her for the past six and a half years, and that this is something she's thought about for several years now. After stating that her graduation stream will take place on April 26, 2025, she stated that she wants to make a lot of memories with everyone before that date, and that she hopes everyone will continue to support her until then.

Shion also uploaded a very short video and stream where she announces that she'll graduate. During the stream, she sounds like she's fighting back tears. Though she doesn't give any details, she states that she's leaving Cover due to creative decisions between her and Cover. This has been an ongoing problem for a long time now, and her work stress had a very negative effect on her physical and mental health. Though she took several breaks to manage this, they didn't help and she continued to feel the divide between Cover as it is now versus Cover when she joined in 2018.

As a reaction to the departure (as well as others), Yagoo, the CEO of Cover Corp, took to X to discuss Shion's graduation. He states that he's as lonely as everyone about these graduations, and that Cover supports its talents from all angles so they can focus on their job without any worries. However, he admits that Cover's not perfect, and that he will arrange to directly speak with talents to see where Cover can continue to improve.

Murasaki Shion will graduate from hololive on April 26, 2025.

Fields of Mistria Animal Festival Highlighted in March Patch Trailer

NPC Studio shared yet another Fields of Mistria trailer focusing on the March major patch, and this one looks at the Animal Festival being added to the game. It will be a winter event that focuses on livestock. The video spends just over half a minute looking at different elements of it.

The Fields of Mistria Animal Festival trailer begins with a farmer being greeted by Hayden as they head into town to take part. We can see a pen with an alpaca, capybara, and sheep in it nearby. Further along, there are additional pens for other types of animals competing, like one for cows and another with a chicken and rabbit in it. Cutout standees are around for screenshots, and Celine is posed looking through one of them at one point. Nora is also manning one stand that looks like a coffee shop.

The video then goes on to offer a hint as to how it works. If you go to one of the booths besides pens, you can select animals you own and enter them in the competition. Adeline will then eventually judge the different animals and declare the winner. At the end, we see a farmer indoors with a new trophy. There also seem to be cosmetic items that are stuffed animals based on the different types of livestock.

Here's the full Fields of Mistria Animal Festival trailer:

https://twitter.com/FieldsofMistria/status/1897724043022704927

Each recent trailer for the game highlighted Fields of Mistria March 2025 patch updates. One showed how the new Elsie gift hints system will work. Another took us into the lava cave biome in the mines.

This will mark the third festival to appear in Fields of Mistria. The Spring Festival was in the game when it entered Early Access. The Shooting Star Festival was added in the first major patch in 2024.

Fields of Mistria is available for the PC in early access via Steam, and the next major patch arrives on March 10, 2025.

Ruri Aoki RuriDragon Nendoroid Can Come With Her Phone

Good Smile Company opened up pre-orders for the RuriDragon Nendoroid of heroine Ruri Aoki. She costs ¥6,800 or $54.99, depending on where you buy her. She's also expected to debut in September 2025. The figure also comes with a special bonus of a phone for her to hold and extra hand if you buy it direct through Good Smile Company. She's based on her most recent look from the RuriDragon manga and wears her school uniform.

Ruri comes with a number of effects and parts based on events of the series. Her three expressions are one with a huge, big, open mouth smile that shows her new fangs, one of her exasperated, and one that makes it look like she's about to sneeze. That last one is also accompanied by a fireball effect part, which references the fact that in the first chapter of the manga after discovering her dragon heritage she sneezes out fire accidentally. She also comes with an onigiri and electric effects for her hands.

Here's a closer look at the Ruri Aoki RuriDragon Nendoroid:

Here's what the Good Smile Company storefront bonus looks like. You get Ruri's pink phone with black design on the back, as well as a hand that is designed to be able to hold it. The faceplate shown in the example photo comes with the figure.

As for the RuriDragon manga, it is still running. It debuted back in June 2022, and right now it is in Weekly Shonen Jump. Both Viz Media and MangaPlus share new chapters in English as they are released. It's on a biweekly schedule at the moment, so chapter 31 will debut on March 23, 2025. The first physical volume of the manga appeared in English in January 2025, and the second will debut on August 5, 2025.

The RuriDragon Nendoroid of Ruri Aoki will debut in Japan in September 2025, and a worldwide release will follow. Pre-orders are open until April 16, 2025. The RuriDragon manga is running, with Viz Media releasing physical volumes outside Japan.

Next Zenless Zone Zero Playable Character Is Vivian

Vivian ended up being teased as a new supporting cast member in Zenless Zone Zero, and HoYoVerse just confirmed she'll become a playable Ether character in 1.7. It took to social media and YouTube to share teasers for the new unit. Given the nature of these reveals, it is very likely she'll be an S-rank character.

Vivian will appear alongside an entirely new faction in the game. She's a part of Mockingbird, a group of thieves who gets involved in more clandestine activities. She is going to be an Anomaly kind of character who deals Ether damage. However, we don't know what sort of role she'll fill on a team yet. The initial infographic images also tease her ties to additional newcomers like Hugo and Sjal. Her official art and descriptions also reference her parasol, suggesting it could be a part of her moveset.

Here are the initial images for Vivian:

There's also a YouTube Short that introduces Vivian ahead of her debut as a playable character in Zenless Zone Zero 1.7. Here's how her character model looks and a teaser for her English voice actress:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/7QwWP1nxBnE

And you can hear her Japanese voice actress via that account below:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/aqkTmxLH5LI

Meanwhile, there are three playable characters joining Zenless Zone Zero on March 12, 2025. That's when the S-rank Agents Silver Soldier 0 Anby and Trigger appear alongside the A-rank one Pulchra. As usual, Anby and Trigger are limited units who only appear on their focus banners. However, Pulchra will be added to the general character pool after her launch.

Ether characters in Zenless Zone Zero are somewhat rare. In addition to Vivian, we only can get Astra, Nicole, and Zhu Yuan.

Zenless Zone Zero is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the 1.6 update arrives on March 12, 2025.

This crossover appears not only in Japan but also in all other regions where the mobile game is available, as Capcom also revealed the content on the game's official English Facebook account.

This event will consist of multiple waves. The first wave that has become immediately available lets people earn Cinnamoroll-themed items like a T-shirt, a bag, and a house. Players of the mobile game have until Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 7 PM PDT to obtain these items.

The Japanese press release also revealed a second wave that will reward a Pompompurin T-shirt as a frequent daily login bonus item between March 18 and 29, 2025, in Asian time zones. Capcom also teased that there will be even more new Sanrio crossover content appearing in April 2025 as well.

This is not the first time Capcom holds a Sanrio crossover event in Monster Hunter Puzzles, though. The company had previously held a similar event rewarding Hello Kitty-themed items. That event had already concluded in late November 2024.

From there, it shows screenshots from the Alexandria dungeon called The Underkeep. The screenshots for it show its environments and foes. The Recollection Trial and its boss also come up briefly.

There's also the following list on the site going over every addition in a concise matter:

New to Patch 7.2

  • Main Scenario - Seekers of Eternity
  • Raid Dungeon - The Arcadion: Cruiserweight Division
  • Cosmic Exploration and New Tool Enhancement Quests - Cosmic Tools
  • Crescent Isle
  • New Dungeon - The Underkeep
  • New Trial - Recollection
  • New Unreal Trial - Hells' Kier (Unreal)
  • New Weapon Enhancement Quests - Phantom Weapons
  • Allied Society Quests - Mamool Ja
  • Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures
  • Allagan Tomestones of Mathematics
  • New Crafting Recipes
  • New Mounts, Minions, and Emotes
  • New Cornservant Quest
  • Additional Duty Support
  • PvP Updates

Everything else consists of all the screenshots shared so far, as well as the key art for 7.2. The "Seekers of Eternity" art shows all of the supporting characters who will play a part in the MSQ.

We will definitely know more about the FFXIV 7.2 patch soon, and that could also mean another update to this site before that launch. Square Enix will hold a Letter from the Producer Live LXXXVI presentation on March 14, 2025. That will be 100% dedicated to the new update.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the FFXIV 7.2 patch arrives in "late" March 2025.

Alchemist medal in BO6 Zombies

The Medal Collection pushes more challenges for Zombies players, expanding the tasks of its brutal Main Quests. Although most objectives include a handy tip, the Alchemist requires using a mysterious weapon. Here's what you must do to earn the Alchemist medal in Black Ops 6 Zombies.

How to unlock Alchemist Medals quickly in Black Ops 6 Zombies

The Alchemist Medal's in-game description indicates that you must kill five or more zombies affected by two or more elements. Use a Shock Charge and Jet Gun's Secondary Fire to complete this challenge fast. You'll need to bunch up some zombies and then use your Shock Charge. Once stunned, hold down ADS (left trigger on the controller) with the Jet Gun to unleash its blast.

Using Shock Charge and Jet Gun in BO6 Zombies
Screenshot by Destructoid

You should receive a notification of the Alchemist Medal reward when these two elements are mixed together. I've tested out a previous method of using the Shock Charge and Molotov, but it doesn't really count for this medal. The Jet Gun route is the only one that worked for me, so I suggest sticking with this technique.

The Shock Charge should be easy enough to get, as it is available via your Loadout. You can acquire more during the match by exchanging Salvage at Crafting Tables. Unlike the Shock Charge, the Jet Gun will take some time to unlock. You must obtain the Water Pressure Gauge, Handbrake, and Electrical Wires to start crafting it. Or, you can get lucky with the Mystery Box and acquire it immediately. Check out our guide on how to get the Jet Gun for more details.

Keep in mind that the Jet Gun features two attacks: Primary and Secondary. If you want the Alchemist Medal, use the Secondary Fire by holding the ADS. Otherwise, you'll suck up all the zombies with its Primary Fire (it won't produce an elemental attack).

In addition to the BO6 Zombies' Alchemist Medal challenge, you can earn the Madness Calling Card. This Calling Card enlists you to earn 25 Alchemist Medals for the first tier. Then, it kicks it up a notch by requiring 100 medals for the third and final tier. To triumph in this objective, continue to kill those zombies with the Shock Charge and Jet Gun. You can also participate in other challenges, including the Dark Ops and the rest of the Medal collection.

Brant in his trailer - Wuthering Waves

Brant is the newest five-star Resonator added to Wuthering Waves, and he offers a unique gameplay style not yet seen in the game. If you're pulling or are planning to pull Brant, here's a guide to get you started.

Best Brantbuild in Wuthering Waves

Brant is a Fusion Sub-DPS character and a Sword user in Wuthering Waves. Unique to his gameplay style, Brant focuses heavily on Mid-Air attacks, allowing him to avoid much of what an enemy is doing due to being constantly airborne. He also has supporting capabilities, able to heal and shield teammates while dishing out his damage.

Brant's Mid Air attack in Wuthering Waves

Though he is considered a Sub-DPS, Brant has access to some of the highest personal damage of any other Sub-DPS. It is so high that a team built around Brant allows him to succeed as even a Main DPS fill-in.

Brant's ability to fill many roles makes him an extraordinary third pick on most teams in Wuthering Waves. With only slots available on any given team, his multi-role versatility allows for you to consolidate roles for other teammates, opening up new team possibilities with Brant's availability.

Brant's game plan

Brant's main goal is to fill up his Forte Meter as quickly as possible and deliver his powerful enhanced Resonance Skill, Returned from Ashes. This enables Brant to heal, shield, and dish out damage, all with the same mechanic. This enhanced Skill is reached by filling up his Forte.

Forte Circuit

Brant's Forte in Wuthering Waves

Brant's Forte is Ocean Odyssey, which allows him to gain a unique Forte resource called Bravo. He can hold a total of 100 Bravo at any given time, which plays into the rest of his Forte's mechanics. Every time Brant reaches a 25 Bravo breakpoint, he applies healing to his entire party. Bravo is gained in a few different ways you'll want to make note of:

  • From Basic Attacks
  • From Intro Skill
  • When using Resonance Skill

Of these methods, the most viable way of gaining Bravo is through using Basic Attacks on enemies that connect. Brant is a Basic ATK scaling character, so this works out for his playstyle.

Upon reaching 100 Bravo, Brant can use Returned from Ashes, which sees Brant sending a massive anchor crashing from the air to the ground, dealing massive damage to all that are hit by it. While damage is this mechanic's most important aspect, Returned from Ashes shields all of Brant's allies when cast.

Brant's final portion of his Forte another unique mechanic called Theatrical Moment. This allows Brant to gain ATK based on his Energy Regen stat. For every 1% of Energy Regen over 150%, Brant will gain an additional 12 ATK, up to a maximum of 1560.

Resonance Skill

Brant's Resonance Skill in Wuthering Waves

Due to the mechanics of Brant's Forte, he has access to two different Resonance Skills.

The first is called Anchors Aweigh!, which launches him into the air with a backflip. It does minor damage and is generally not very useful. Brant can follow this Skill up by pressing the Skill button a second time to launch a special Plunging attack. If it hits, he can press Normal ATK to launch himself back into the air.

The second is one I've mentioned earlier. When Brant reaches 100 Bravo, his Anchors Aweigh! is replaced with Returned from Ashes, the most powerful ability in his arsenal. It does enormous damage and fills Brant's Concerto by half. It should be used as soon as possible if DPS is your concern with Brant.

Resonance Liberation

Brant's Ultimate (Liberation) in Wuthering Waves
Screenshot by Destructoid

Brant's Liberation is called To the Horizon, and it plays a significant role in how you make use of Brant's Forte. When used, Brant will call upon an anchor to crash into the area, dealing decent damage and applying two unique but reminsant mechanics to him as buffs: Aflame and "My" Moment.

Aflame improves the rate at which Brant is able to gain Bravo, doubling its efficiency. You should always strive to have this active as much as possible, which is why Brant wants so much Energy Regen in the first place.

"My" Moment replaces Brant's Forte mechanic Theatrical Moment, rewarding Energy Regen stacking with much more ATK per 1%, as before. With "My" Moment active, the conversion becomes for every 1% Energy Regen over 150%, gain 20 ATK up to 2600.

As you can see, you need to make active use of Brant's Resonance Liberation for him to be viable for DPS.

Outro Buff

As Brant is a Sub-DPS by default, he comes with a powerful Outro buff that shouldn't be ignored for the rest of his kit. Brant's Outro Skill is called The Course is Set! and it buffs the incoming Resonator's Fusion DMG by 20% while simultaneously buffing the incoming Resonator's Skill DMG by 25%. Both effects last for 14 seconds or until the affected Resonator is switched out.

Best Echoes for Brant in Wuthering Waves

Brant's best Echoes in Wuthering Waves

Because Brant requires such a significant amount of Energy Regen to function, he only has one Echo set option you should use. However, I will offer you a second option if the Energy Regen thresholds he needs cannot be met.

  • 4-p Tidebreaker's Courage - This set provides Brant with an extra 10% Energy Regen and 15% ATK. If Brant has at least 250% total Energy Regen, he also gains a massive 30% Attribute DMG. This set is by far his best, only if you can reach 250% Energy Regen. Without it, you should use the second option on this list.
  • 4-Piece Molten Rift - Provides Brant with unconditional Fusion damage buffs, which can all be activated with a single use of his Skill. This set is the next best option if you cannot get 250% Regen to activate Tidebreaker's Courage.

Best weapons for Brant in Wuthering Waves

Brant's best weapon in Wuthering Waves

Brant's incredibly steep Energy Regen requirements offer him only two real options you can consider, with one being several steps down from the other.

  • Unflickering Valor - Brant's signature weapon, Unflickering Valor, gives him several powerful DPS buffs to most of his kit, but most importantly, its exceptionally high Energy Regen substat makes reaching Energy Regen requirements infinitely easier. This is, by far, his best option.
  • Overtune - Brant's only four-star option, Overtune is the only weapon outside of his Signature that he has to help him reach his Energy Regen requirements.

Without using either one of the two weapons, Brant will struggle massively to reach Energy Regen breakpoints. So, with that in mind, if you cannot get one of these weapons, I strongly urge you to reconsider pulling Brant, as he is heavily reliant on Energy Regen to function.

Best team compositions for Brant in Wuthering Waves

Changli's Forte in Wuthering Waves

Brant's Outro buff supports buffing Fusion and Skill damage, so characters that match one or both of those make solid teammates for him.

  • Brant, Changli, Verina - This is Brant's strongest team composition, and it rewards and players a Dual DPS team. You'll be consistently swapping to and from Brant and Changli, performing their gameplans in unison for maximum effect. Verina is on the team to apply her massive ATK% buff and offer healing as necessary. Verina is interchangeable with Shorekeeper, depending on stat spread.
  • Brant, Encore, Shorekeeper - This team functions similarly to the abovementioned, only using Encore instead of Changli. As Encore wants a bit more field time, you'll be doing less quickswapping and more hypercarrying using Encore as the team's main DPS. Shorekeeper is interchangeable with Verina.
  • Brant, Sanhau, Verina - This team uses Brant as the hypercarry on his team, utilizing Sanhau's Basic ATK% Outro buff and lightning-fast Concerto to quickly generate Brant's Forte. As with before, Verina is interchangeable with Shorekeeper.

Best Sequences of Brant in Wuthering Waves

Brant is a largely complete character at S0. However, his Sequences grant him significantly increased power to his moment-to-moment gameplan. His best stopping point is, without a doubt, S3, and if you're interested in learning what all of his Sequences do, then here's a summary of each one and their values.

Brant's best Sequence nodes in Wuthering Waves

  • By Currents and Winds (S1) - This Sequence makes Brant's Returned from Ashes apply a stagnation field when it is being cast, giving the ability potent CC (Crowd Control). Additionally, Brant gains up to 60% DMG when performing his Intro Skill or any attacks with flips associated with it. Overall, this is a strong Sequence that gives Brant additional utility and a lot of extra damage.
  • For Smiles and Cheers (S2) - When Brant casts Returned from Ashes or does a mid-air attack, he gains a free 30% Crit Rate. This is already incredible, and I highly recommend you use a CRIT DMG 4-cost Echo if you obtain this Sequence. Additionally, Brant's Outro Skill causes the incoming Resonator to deal 440% of Brant's ATK as Basic Attack damage whenever they use their Resonance Skill. This can happen up to twice. This is a very strong Sequence, and you should get this if you can, as it is simply a lot of free team damage.
  • Through Storms I sail (S3) - This is a simple one. It increases Returned from Ashes damage by 42%. This is a buff to Brant's most powerful ability in his kit. As far as Sequences go, this is the ideal stopping point.
  • To Freedom I Sing (S4) - This Sequence focuses entirely on providing support to Brant's team. When Returned from Ashes is cast, the shield it applies is 20% stronger, and it provides healing to his teammates based on his Energy Regen stat. This Sequence is alright but far from necessary due to the lack of a damage boost.
  • All the World's an Actor's Stage (S5) - When Brant deals Basic ATK DMG, he gains 15% Basic Damage for 15 seconds. Not bad, but it's very 'meh' if you stop here.
  • All the World's a Captain's Carnevale (S6) - Brant's S6 is very simple but extremely powerful if you can obtain it. It boosts the DMG Multiplier of his mid-air attacks by 30%. More importantly, however, is that it makes Returned from Ashes explode twice, with the second explosion dealing 30% of the damage of the first.

Board games for under $10

If you're looking for something to do to pass the time, then board games are always a solid choice. Unlike video games, they're relatively inexpensive, don't require regular updates, and are always readily accessible regardless of internet access or power.

There are board games to appeal to everyone regardless of your interests, from horror-based ones such as Horrified to something more chilled like the Stardew Valley board game. However, finding something to play gets a little more challenging if you're on a tight budget.

Say you've got a budget of only $10; what's out there for you to pick up and play at family games night? I've done some digging around and found 10 of the best board games for under $10, although I have had to stretch the definition of 'board game' slightly to ensure you get your money's worth.

Magnetic

Magnetic game
Image via Amazon

I did mention that I was stretching the definition of 'board game' a bit here, right? Magnetic doesn't even come with a board, but it does come with specific pieces and rules as well as a rope that defines the playing area, so I'm counting it here.

The aim of the game is remarkably simple — players each get an equal number of magnets from the game's 24 and take turns dropping them into the rope-marked arena of play. You want to drop the magnets in a way that avoids attracting any other magnets because if you do, they become yours, and the first person to have no magnets left is the winner.

Sorry!

Sorry! board game
Image via Amazon

This board game comes with an actual board, so it definitely counts in a list of board games even without the need to stretch the definition of the term. Sorry! is designed for both kids and adults and centers around the theme of sweet revenge.

It seems like a fairly straightforward game for between 2 to 4 players. The aim is to get all three (or four, in more recent versions) pawns around the board and into the home spot for their respective color. However, all players can sabotage their opponents' attempts to make that happen.

Trouble

Trouble board game
Image via Amazon

I have fond memories of Trouble, although with my British upbringing, I know it better as 'Frustration'. My memories mostly pertain to the satisfying pop of the Pop-o-matic dice roller in the middle, which certainly annoyed my parents after the millionth time I slapped it with glee. On the plus side, at least they never had to replace the dice.

Trouble is a different take on Sorry!, with players each having four colored pegs that you need to get around the board and line up in the finish line towards the center of the board. There's less sabotage involved than there is in Sorry!, but still a lot of frustration involved, which is probably where the UK version got its name.

Ouija Board

Ouija Board
Image via Amazon

Even though horror movies and occult fanatics have adopted the Ouija Board as a tool for contacting the dead and demons of the world, it was first patented by the Kennard Novelty Company as a parlor game. So, if you can look past the scary possibility that you might summon Satan himself by playing, then you might have some fun.

The movement of the planchette is scientifically explained as the Ideomotor Phenomenon, or in layman's terms, unconscious movement. Let's face it, the piece of wood is unlikely to move of its own accord or under the hands of a ghostie trying to convey a message. That doesn't mean that I'll willingly allow one into my house, but nothing is stopping you at under $10, if you've got the mental fortitude.

Monopoly Deal

Monopoly Deal card game
Image via Amazon

Every time I write a board game list, Monopoly comes up somewhere, and this one is no different, even considering the strict budget. Monopoly Deal is like the board game transformed into a card game format.

You still need to collect properties, face off against debt collectors, and do everything else you've come to expect from the property mogul game. With two players, a game of Monopoly Deal can be completed in as little as five to 15 minutes, this time extending to just under an hour if five people are playing together.

Zillionaires: Road Trip USA

Zillionaires: Road Trip USA board game

If you enjoy Monopoly and all of its property buying aspects, then you'll love Zillionaires: Road Trip USA. The game not only comes with an actual board (something of a rarity on this list at this point), but it also comes with a physical auctioneer's gavel to bang, marking the end of each bidding war.

These bidding wars take place between players trying to purchase one of 49 strange attractions across the USA. The first person to purchase four different attractions is crowned the winner, but there's a catch — the four attractions must be next to each other on the board. This proves difficult with others bidding against you for the same properties.

Guess Who?

Guess Who? board game
Image via Amazon

Admittedly, you're unlikely to find the full board-based version of Guess Who? for under $10, but you can get the card-based version within the budget and have some dollars to spare. Guess Who? is great for kids and adults alike, sparking conversation and thoughtful questions.

The premise of the card game is the same as the original board game, with each player asking questions to try and figure out exactly who the other players' mystery character is. Are they wearing glasses? Do they have brown hair? Are they a girl? You know the drill.

World's Smallest Operation

World's Smallest Operation board game
Images via Amazon

As with Guess Who, you're probably not going to find Operation for under 10 bucks. However, if you're up for the challenge, there's always the world's smallest version that can be put into your pocket and taken with you on the go if that's your idea of fun.

There are only four ailments included in the tiny version (broken heart, butterflies, charlie horse, and wrenched ankle), but they're just as annoying to remove and you still have to contend with the nerve-wracking buzz that comes if you touch the edge with the tweezers. It even comes in an adorably tiny little box.

Disney Lorcana Gateway

Disney Lorcana Gateway
Image via Amazon

If you've ever looked at the Disney Lorcana trading card game and thought it looks a little overwhelming, then Disney Lorcana Gateway is your entry point into the game. It comes with two starter decks, reward packs containing more cards, counters, movers, and everything else you'll need to complete your first game.

This is also a great way to discover whether you can get into the Lorcana TCG as a whole before pouring money into it only to find out that it's not for you. At under $10, it's a relatively cheap way to find out if you enjoy the rules and gameplay, plus a worthwhile collectible for any Disney fan.

Pictureka (Giant Edition)

Pictureka (Giant Edition) board game
Image via Amazon

Pictureka is essentially just a game of hide and seek in which players draw cards and have to find the items from that card on a jumbled board of doodled images. Pictureka (Giant Edition) is that, but on steroids, with a humongous playing field to work with.

It's great for kids, and I can personally attest that it will keep them entertained for a long time, but it's also great for adults looking to test their observational and memory skills. With colorful images and a wide range of items to hunt down, you'll enjoy playing with little ones or even on your own if you're a little bored.

Monster Hunter Wilds character creation codes

Monster Hunter Wilds' character creation has certainly inspired players to create some amazing designs for their Hunters, and they have certainly taken their creativity to the next level.

In the following list, you'll find some of the best Hunter designs in my books. Thanks to the codes, you can use them pretty easily for your own Hunter design.

Best Hunter designs in Monster Hunter Wilds

Geralt of Rivia (The Witcher)

Image of Geralt in Monster HunterWilds

There are some similarities between the worlds of Monster Hunter and The Witcher, given that we hunt down monsters in both. What can be a better tribute to one another than recreating the White Wolf as your Hunter in Wilds! This amazing creation was shared on Reddit by user Gullible-Ad8788, and it certainly is one of my favorites.

Kratos (God of War)

Image of Kratos in Monster Hunter Wilds

Kratos is perhaps one of the most popular figures in the realm of video games, and someone recreating his looks for Wilds isn't surprising at all. The best design comes from Only Guides on YouTube, and this code will instantly turn your Hunter into a Greek demigod.

Vergil (Devil May Cry)

Image of Vergil in Monster HunterWilds

Why die as a Hero when you can rule as a Villain! This must have been the motive behind user NoctisBOI, who recreated Vergil as a Hunter design. Esthetically, this design looks extremely suitable with the general world of Wilds, and make sure to equip Dual Blades to match the elements.

Gigachad (Pop Figure)

Image of Gigachad in Monster HunterWilds

Gigachad might or might not have always been used on sensible memes, but one thing is certain: he has become an Internet sensation. Sorradude's creation on Reddit makes your Hunter resemble the alpha male pretty quickly. Make sure to rub off some of the aura on the monsters before you take them down.

Lucy (Cyberpunk Edgerunners)

Image of Lucy in Monster Hunter Wilds

If you loved the Cyberpunk 2077-inspired anime as much as I did, there's scope for you to make your Hunter look like Lucyna Kushida, or Lucy for short. The creation from Ranniery-Jesuino allows you to enjoy an amazing design if you're picking a female archetype for your Hunter design.

Danny Trejo

Image of Danny Trejo in Monster Hunter Wilds

The iconic actor has been seen in numerous video games, but he isn't a part of Monster Hunter Wilds in the official sense. However, the community has still managed to make Machete a part of the game's lore, all thanks to the character creation option.

The Joker (Batman)

Image of the Joker in Monster Hunter Wilds

There's already a Harley Quinn creation available on social media, but I am not a big fan of the design. The Joker, on the other hand, looks absolutely superb. Created by OnShift Gaming on YouTube, this design is as good a Joker-inspired Hunter could potentially look like.

Once I have found more inspired creations, they will be added to this list. There are plenty of interesting characters yet to be adapted to Wilds. If you want to change the appearance of your existing character, you'll need Character Vouchers to unlock the function.

Big brutes in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

The release date for Nightmares and Visions has been announced, and it will mark the launch of the first major update for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

There are plenty of reasons to be excited about the upcoming update if you go through the potential plans. If you have completed everything there was to achieve, the new content will be fresh air. But first, let's look at when the upcoming content will be available inside the game.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Nightmares and Visions release date

The new content will go live on March 25, 2025 and launch simultaneously on all available platforms. To access the new content, you'll have to install the update once it's available for your platform. Let's now take a look at what's on offer and why you should be excited if you play Darktide.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-UifdRoC8I

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Nightmares and Visions content

The first major part of the upcoming update will be the introduction of the Mortis Trials. This mode will introduce a wave-based system, where you'll have to clear out hordes of incoming enemies. This mode will force you to think differently and enjoy new play styles every time you enter the trial.

Completing the trials and defeating the hordes will help you unlock extra lore content if you care about learning more about the story. You can also expect more changes to be made to the Havoc game mode, which will now be set at a higher difficulty. This change will be perfect for endgame players, and Fatshark is expected to reveal more information closer to the launch.

Finally, the developers have heard the fans' requests, and the Ogryn Talent tree will be buffed. The upcoming changes will allow players to enjoy more freedom while developing their builds, and some of the weapons will also be buffed.

As things stand, the upcoming update is expected to be pretty big. We will have more details for you, including the patch notes, once it goes live on March 25.

A Warmage battles a horde of orcs with an ice weapon

With so many traps available to you, and many more to unlock, it can be overwhelming to figure out what you like. It can be even more complicated trying to figure out what's good. Fortunately, we've put tons of time into the game to help figure out what traps are the best.

There's a lot of features to consider, including cost and synergy. We'll call out special cases like that whenever there's a need. In general, these rankings are based on overall performance, considering upgrades and all characters. This is by no means super scientific, but it should help you find some solid strategies quickly.

S Rank Traps

These are the best of the best, and should probably be in every game. They're just too good to pass up!

A look at the trap upgrade screen, highlighting the Briar Patch trap and its stats
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Auto Crossbow - One of the biggest problems in any Orcs Must Die! is accounting for the flying enemies. The Auto Crossbow takes care of that for you- as long as you can find a place to put it. Some stages make it difficult to target flyers that emerge from every door, so keep that in mind. These are best served with Threads that target flyers only, and do additional damage. Otherwise, they're perfectly useful, like the default turret in any Tower Defense type of game. They target everything and can dish out heavy damage.
  • Magic Orb - It might take a couple of ideas to really maximize the use of a Magic Orb. As long as you give it nice hallways or switchbacks to work with, it'll do great. It has a piercing effect that lets it keep bouncing between enemies in narrow corridors, obliterating them. Threads that increase the bounces are the best to power this up.
  • Briar Patch - These take a bit of study to get used to. The nature of the Briar Patch is to get enemies to take damage from it, eventually hitting a threshold that causes the patch to multiply. It's best used at spawn doors and in carefully crafted choke points that all, or most, enemies will run through. Anything that slows enemies and forces them to be on the Briar Patch longer is a big help. If you're playing as Kalos, his taunting totem is perfect for this. Once you learn the tricks of manipulating enemies to spread the patch, you'll see how much damage it can do.
  • Rift Barricade - Added shortly after the game's launch, the Rift Barricade could have been a way for players to have additional Barricades. Most people would have been fine with that. But instead, they also empower adjacent traps, be they floor or wall. They're costly, starting at 4,000 coins each to place. They'll quickly earn their place as surefire equipment when you pepper them along your paths to empower specific traps. We especially love using them with an initial Briar Patch to help it do more damage and spread quicker.

A Rank Traps

These traps are very solid but tend to rely more on being part of a larger synergy. They're still great, and the more players you have in your team, the more of them you should take.

  • Acid Geyser - Most damage types have two traps associated with them, which is useful to consider when creating setups that give you high combo points. The two Acid traps are both in the A Rank, but consider taking only one of them in your build. In essence, they do the same thing, which is coat your enemies in weakening acid. As the names imply, the Geyser erupts from the ground and the Shower is from the ceiling. Either one is a great pick. It's more situational about what other tools you're using.
  • Acid Shower - The Acid Geyser is probably better for most setups, considering how useful the Shock Zapper and Molten Gold are. Those are both also ceiling traps, and you don't want too many of the same trap types. Remember what else you're using and what stage layouts give you extra room for ceiling traps.
  • Ice Vent - This one started off much lower, but the more we played with it, the more value we saw. Ice is one of the elemental types that stacks your combo points. Having one Ice trap is recommended if you're trying to maximize combo potential, and the other ice trap is not good. The Ice Vent is best used at the end of a "car wash" lane. Douse enemies in acid, gold, fire, poison, and electricity before freezing them and taking them down.
  • Cursed Ground - Cursed Ground has a lot of similarities in use to the Briar Patch. It's a floor trap that damages enemies and gets stronger the more you damage enemies with it. In the case of the Cursed Ground, it's a wider area, but it doesn't expand. Although, there is a Thread that allows it to expand as if it were Bramble. It would honestly be an S Rank with Bramble, but getting that thread is a roll of the dice. Not being able to count on that holds it back a bit. However, it's still a very strong floor trap for busy paths.
  • Bomb Dispenser - One of the things that really makes this trap stand out is how useful it is from higher up. Most wall traps only attack horizontally, meaning they're useless if you put them higher than the floor. Bomb Dispensers, however, make a great addition over a wall of scorchers or Magic Orbs. The decorative lion heads will spit bombs down onto the floor and bring havoc to your enemies. It's an exceptional second wall trap in any build.
  • Shock Zapper - This is a powerful ceiling trap. It has a huge range, which is useful for higher ceilings that still let you apply traps. It's also great for targeting flyers. Plus, electricity is one of the few damage types that works well on heavily armored enemies, so it's useful for that as well.
  • Molten Gold - This trap might be more personal preference, but the value it puts out can be extremely strong. You won't want a lot of them in your setup, but a few at the start of a trap-laden hallway is a great start. They apply Shiny, which is a unique damage type that adds to your combo. It also makes enemies that die under the effect capable of dropping extra rune coins during your run. The extra cash can help you make even bigger and better trap setups, only requiring a hefty upfront fee to install.
  • Tar Trap - Tar Trap is a classic Orcs Must Die! tool, slowing all enemies who walk over it. It also has a lot of versatile threads that can cause further slowing, or cause enemies to take extra damage from fire. It's great for placing in front of Briar Patches, except that it prevents those patches from extending forward. That's still useful for most places, but sometimes you want that stuff to really spread.
  • Poison Gas Emitter - There are two poison traps, and it was hard to really give one a higher score than the other. However, the Poison Gas Emtiter has a huge area of influence when it attacks. This can catch a lot of enemies at a time, with great combo potential and a lot of damage. If you don't think you can fit it into your ceilings with other traps you're using, that's totally understandable. The Poison Flower is a good alternative.
  • Wall Scorcher - There's nothing much to say other than this does exceptional fire damage. You'll burn your enemies down and stock up on combos. Just don't put this around Briar Patches. It doesn't hurt them, but it causes enemies to speed up when they're on fire. That gets them off the briar faster, which makes them slightly less useful.

B Rank Traps

These traps are usually great when you have a gap somewhere, like if you need another wall or ceiling trap. They're also great for covering damage types. They're not bad by any means, but they don't quite pack the same punch as A rank traps. You might still find a favorite in here, though!

Orcs march through a lovely garden and deadly traps.
Screenshot by Robot Games

  • Wall Charger - If your ceilings are too busy for the Shock Zapper, the Wall Charger is not a bad backup. The biggest flaw here is the reduction in range. It's still useful, and a bit cheaper, so don't be afraid to check it out.
  • Rip Saw - This trap feels more fun than it is useful. Setting up a corridor with floor saws feels great, and their long range is very handy. However, Briar Patch is too useful to ignore. Rip Saw gets in the way at a certain point.
  • Arrow Wall - This one hurts, it's a personal favorite from the original game. However, the reality is that it's just not very strong. It's versatile, it's solid, but it's not anything super special.
  • Brimstone - Brimstone is great as a combo-focused floor trap. Throw in an acid shower and a Wall Charger, and you've got a great score building. Like the Rip Saw, it gets in the way of the Briar Patch. Because of that, and its more limited ability to do damage, the Wall Scorcher is kind of better in every way.
  • Ceiling Laser - While this was easily a top-tier trap in Orcs Must Die! 3, it feels like it took a bit of a nerf for Deathtrap. It doesn't have the damage potential it used to, and armored enemies aren't nearly as prevalent. It's not terrible, but it also takes up a lot of ceiling space that could be dedicated to better traps.
  • Morningstar Shooter - This trap has a similar use case to the Bomb Dispenser. Put it above your other wall traps and let it drop destructive morningstars onto your enemies. That said, it doesn't seem to be as powerful. Of course, it's smaller, so it fits into tighter nooks and crannies. If you don't have room for the Bomb Dispenser, switch up to the Morningstar Shooter for sure.
  • Saw Blade Launcher - This trap looks fun, and it is! Sawblades bouncing all around is great to watch. They can also be set up in certain places for some really spectacular damage. Unfortunately, they're not as versatile. A lot of wide paths keep them from hitting their potential.
  • Spike Trap - This is another classic Orcs Must Die! staple. And it's not bad, especially for the coin price. It doesn't quite manage to reach the potential of other traps, and doesn't do much for your Combo potential.
  • Poison Flowers - As we mentioned earlier, this is not a bad replacement for the Poison Gas Emitter. It's great because it can fire at a range, and there's a thread that lets you place it on walls for more versatility. But it doesn't seem to poison as many enemies as the Emitter, so there are not as many use cases for it.
  • Wall Blades - It's fun to dice up your enemies. And it's a rare narrow trap that can be placed in a lot of fun places. However, it's lack of Combo potential and range make it a hard recommend over several other wall traps.

C Rank Traps

These aren't terrible traps, but they have a lot more drawbacks. Primarily, these are all physics-based traps that are fun to watch. They all require a lot of space and coin, or don't contribute enough to your Combo total to be worth it.

  • Steam Vent - A lot of players have gone to bat for the Steam Vent, but we don't see it. It's fun to use, and it's not bad for slowing enemies, but it doesn't have enough versatility for the cost.
  • Push Trap - This one is so situational, and it rarely has a good space for itself. This is better as a stalling tactic than something that will clear out chunks of the oncoming hordes.
  • Haymaker - A fun trap, to be sure. Unfortunately, it doesn't do enough. It doesn't effect bigger enemies without threads, it has a fairly long cooldown, and the damage output isn't there.
  • Grinder - Another fun trap and a useful combo with the Push Trap. However, on its own, there are very few use cases for the Grinder.
  • Hookshot - Another fun tool, but it's not fast or powerful enough. It is entertaining to watch it spear an orc and drag them over water or a ledge and then release them. We once had it hold them over an acid geyser for a time, which honestly felt more cruel than we were hoping for. Poor little orcs!
  • Minecart Dispenser and Tracks - This is actually two trap slots. One for the Dispenser, and another slot for the Tracks. You can create some super useful halls with devastating minecart crashes, but it requires too much to utilize. Two slots, a lot of money to get up and running, and then it's not very effective. It is super fun to watch, though, which is the only reason it's not a D rank trap.
  • Ceiling Pounder - It's a bit basic for our tastes, but it can be handy now and again. The biggest problem is that many ceilings simply aren't low enough for this to be effective.
  • Swinging Mace - While this is easily the best version of the Swinging Mace in the entire series, it still remains difficult to spend space on. One swinging mace could be three different Molten Gold dispensers that will earn you a lot more Rune Coins and Combo Points.

D Rank Traps

These traps aren't great right now. There's little to no reason to use them.

  • Ice Lance - This is just too expensive and too slow. The ice effect seems to be very situationally useful. Even then, there's really no reason not to have few Auto Crossbows instead and rely on the Ice Vents to freeze enemies.
  • Flip Trap - Catapulting your enemies has never felt so useless in this series, and it's a shame. It really comes down to a lack of situations where you can sling your enemies into other traps or an abyss.
  • Spike Wall - It's big, it's expensive, and it's too slow. There's not a lot of damage or stopping power here for the resources.

There are a slew of both tangible and digital rewards that players can earn by participating in Moments of Triumph. In-game players can earn:

  • The Technoprotection Ghost shell after completing 14 related challenges
  • The Flagbearer Sparrow after completing 21 related challenges
  • The MMXXIV Title after completing 26 related challenges

There are also other digital rewards tied to the challenges for Moments of Triumph, but these aren't unique to the event, and players would earn them regardless the first time the Triumph is completed and redeemed. These rewards include:

  • Organic Specimen (Episode: Echoes material)
  • The Victorious Oddment Emblem for completing The Final Shape campaign on Legendary
  • The Edification Emblem for completing the Salvation's Edge Raid
  • The Anomalous Emblem for completing the Vesper's Host Dungeon
  • The Unsounded Depths Emblem for completing the Sundered Doctrine Dungeon

Finally, there are several rewards that players can take with them after they log off the game. Bungie typically offers some kind of clothing item or collectible to celebrate events, and this Moments of Triumph is no different. The physical rewards Guardians can earn are:

  • A Moments of Triumph 2024 T-shirt for completing five related challenges
  • A Moments of Triumph 2024 MMXXIV pin
  • A Light and Darkness pin for completing Salvation's Edge, Vesper's Host, and Sundered Doctrine

When does Moments of Triumph 2024 end?

Moments of Triumph 2024 is set to run in-game until the reset on Tuesday, May 6. That said, this is just the cutoff for when players can complete Moments of Triumph challenges. Players may still purchase available rewards from the Bungie store until June 10.

With about two months, that should give most Guardians plenty of time to hunt down any lingering challenges you want to complete before the event ends.

Nata at Base Camp

Farming is one of the most convenient systems in Monster Hunter, giving you access to a wide range of items across the regions. Compared to World, Monster Hunter Wilds' Farm functions differently, separating from the standard Botanical Farm. Here's what you need to do to unlock this feature.

How do you unlock the Farm in MH Wilds?

You must reach Chapter 4-2 to unlock Farming in Monster Hunter Wilds, which will require completing the game's main story. Once you reach this point, travel to each region to begin a Material Retrieval side mission. For example, if you go to Oilwell Basin, you can start Aida's quest to unlock Farming in this destination. You'll then see a Material Retrieval icon on the map, displaying a Farm NPC's exact location.

If you want the NPC to search for specific Crafting Materials, ask them, 'Could you help me gather items?' Some resources will have a lot more chances than others, but you can still test your luck with the rare materials.

Choosing Material Retrieval Items

Let's go over what side missions you'll need to complete for each region and what to expect with their MH Wilds' Material Retrieval Farms.

Once you've completed a region's Material Retrieval quest, you can converse with Nata at the Base Camp via the Village Intermediary icon. You won't need to travel to each region to pick up the goods, as Nata will be your one-stop shop for all your Material Retrievals. Check back with this character daily to gather all your Farming resources in Monster Hunter Wilds. You may even discover Hidden Armor Set resources and other high-rarity materials.

Zatoh in MH Wilds

During the Beware the Gypceros, you must find Zatoh to complete the quest. Unlike most missions, he won't have a map marker, making it challenging to pin down his location. We're here to show you where to find Zatoh in Monster Hunter Wilds.

MH Wilds Zatoh location, explained

The NPC Zatoh can be found at the Kunafa (Windsong Village) at Windward Plains. You'll have to walk around this village, as he frequently roams near the houses. If you can't find Zatoh for the Beware the Gypceros quest, set the Environment to Daytime and Plenty. He tends to show up more regularly at this time, differing from the night. You must rest at one of your camps or Portable BBQ Grills to change the time of day, mandating 300 Guild Points.

Kunafa Windsong Village map location in Windward Plains
Screenshot by Destructoid

If there's an active sandstorm, you cannot speak to him during this time. Sandstorms force the residents to go into their homes, where it's impossible to interact with them. I suggest waiting it out or resting to progress time.

Hopefully, you'll get the chance to speak to Zatoh and provide him with the Gypercos materials. He'll offer Sharp Kunafa Cheese and three Carbalite Ore for your efforts, adding more to your meal recipes and armor/weapon upgrades. Occasionally, Zatoh will ask you to return to the village for a meal to gain powerful buffs temporarily.

The Beware the Gypceros side quest also gives you access to Kunafa's Material Retrieval, a resource delivery system Nata will manage for you. Speak to Murtabak at the Windsong Village to collect daily Material Retrieval items. Or, interact with Nata at the Base Camp to view all regional-exclusive deliveries at the Village Intermediary. This system provides you with many Hidden Armor Set resources, which boost your performance significantly. If you need help with these materials, check out our guide on how to get Sparkly Treasure.

Entrance to Destiny's Sunless Cell boss pit.

As a surprise treat, Guardians will get the chance to take a swing at a repurposed Strike from the original Destiny. The Sunless Cell will come to Destiny 2, getting a facelift in the process: it won't be what you remember from The Taken King.

The Sunless Cell was initially a Strike for The Taken King expansion in the original Destiny. With the Dreadnaught and Oryx returning for Episode: Heresy, it's a timely and welcome addition to the game. Bungie doesn't usually add new strikes to Destiny 2 beyond what comes with a given expansion, often opting for Episodic Battlegrounds instead. Though the content is similar, Battlegrounds have proven to be a bit more of a hit-or-miss. With that in mind, it's probably best that Bungie is reintroducing Guardians to an old haunt. The real question is, when will the Sunless Cell be playable in Destiny 2?

When is the Sunless Cell Strike coming to Destiny 2?

Andy Salisbury appearing on a Bungie dev stream.
Image via Bungie YouTube

During a developer stream previewing what was to come in Act II and beyond of Episode: Heresy, Bungie teased the return of the Sunless Cell Strike. Though the studio did not give any specific dates for when the Strike would be playable, it's possible to infer some conclusions based on how the team talked about Sunless Cell.

Bungie confirmed that the Sunless Cell would return in Act III of Episode: Heresy, pinned as the "featured activity" for the Act. We know that Act II starts on Tuesday, March 11, and that it will run for three weeks. So, based on that information, it's fair to say that the earliest players should expect the Sunless Cell Strike... on April Fool's Day.

While there's no certainty that the studio will release the Strike the day Act III starts, it wouldn't make a lot of sense for the featured activity of an Act to be absent from launch, even odder if it wasn't there after a week or two. So, with that said, I'd wager on the Sunless Cell Strike appearing on April 1 or within the following reset.

Thankfully, it seems like there will be plenty to do in the three short weeks between Act II and Act III. During the same stream, Bungie showed off some of the returning Guardian Games event, complete with a new mini boss-rush activity and the new Artifact Perks coming in Act II.

The Sunless Cell won't be how you remember it

Boss fight in Destiny's Sunless Cell Strike.
Image via Bungie YouTube

Though the Sunless Cell is technically a returning Strike from Destiny, the Destiny 2 iteration will have some key differences. In the original, Guardians descended into the Dreadnaught after Oryx's destruction to stop Alak-Hul, The Darkblade, from commandeering The Taken King's vacant throne.

With Alak-Hul now known as The Lightblade and in service to Savathun's Lucent Brood, Bungie confirmed you wouldn't see the same antagonist in the Sunless Cell. The team didn't share any specifics about what we'd find in the Strike now, but given that the Dreadnaught is currently infested with Dread and Dire Taken, my money is on one or a combination of those forces.

Sparkly Treasure description in MH Wilds

Each region of Forbidden Lands hides precious treasures waiting to be unearthed. While some will be easy to find, others will often take you on a wild goose chase. Monster Hunter Wilds' Sparkly Treasure is one of the rarest ones, and we're here to show how to get it.

Where to find Sparkly Treasure in MH Wilds

You can get Sparkly Treasure from Scarlet Forest's Weathered Treasures or Plumpeach's Material Retrieval. Note that both methods will mandate a lot of time and patience, as the drops are completely randomized. I had the most luck with Plumpeach's Material Retrieval, where the item appeared in this Wudwud's Collectibles. This method requires you to unlock the Scarlet Forest's Farm, requiring you to reach High-Rank status and complete the Make Fluffy Dealings side quest.

Sparkly Treasure in Material Retrieval
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Material Retrieval system changes daily, so you must check back every day to see if the Sparkly Treasure ever shows up. To reduce travel, speak to Nata at the Base Camp, giving you access to the Farm's Village Intermediary. If you have plenty of Guild Points, you can rest and wake up the following day to get more items from Material Retrieval. Rinse and repeat until you eventually get Sparkly Treasure.

Those who've had no such luck with the Farming system can opt for the Weathered Treasures at Scarlet Forest. You'll likely find a lot of Shiny Treasures initially, but hopefully, it'll open the door to the Sparkly variant. You can increase your chances with a Talisman Geology 2 ability or the Hidden Armor Set's Forager's Luck skill. If you looted all Weathered Treasures spots, you can participate in an Optional Quest to get them to respawn.

How to use Sparkly Treasure in MH Wilds

The Sparkly Treasure often comes up with Item Trades, which you can use to exchange for robust materials. You'll likely use it for the Hidden Armor Set's Great Hornfly resource, unlocking the King Beetle α and Butterfly α equipment.

Exchanging Sparkly Treasure in Item Trade
Screenshot by Destructoid

You may be able to exchange them for more Rarity 6 items, which are some of the most valuable gems in Monster Hunter Wilds. You could also sell the Sparkly Treasure for 200 Zenny, but trust me, it's worth holding onto for the Item Trades. There will be plenty of opportunities to rack up Zenny later, so just save it for something even better down the road.

Assassin's Creed Shadows has two protagonists and will release in March 2025

Assassin's Creed Shadows and its two protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe, are getting ready to debut on March 20.

While it's clear that both characters specialize in different playstyles—Naoe as a stealth expert and Yasuke as a powerhouse for direct combat—the gameplay also shows that they can adapt, allowing players to mix and match their approach regardless of which character they're using.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Naoe and Yasuke gameplay comparison

A new AC Shadows gameplay trailer and walkthrough released by Ubisoft on March 6 showcase how the two characters play differently in the same scenario against the same enemies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4zi3e9JNCw

The trailer highlights how Naoe is much better suited for stealth, with plenty of tools to eliminate enemies without being seen or triggering alarms. Yasuke, on the other hand, can charge straight into any fight, take on opponents head-on, deal massive damage, break enemy armor, and overpower enemies with sheer force.

As shown in the trailer, Naoe excels at one-hit stealth kills, as long as she has the right equipment and tools. Yasuke, however, may need significant adjustments to achieve the same level of stealth.

The same contrast applies to open combat. Yasuke is incredibly strong, capable of breaking armor and absorbing a lot of damage before being forced out of a fight. He can dispatch enemies quickly with powerful swings of his weapons. Naoe, on the other hand, struggles more in direct combat. She deals less physical damage and takes longer to defeat enemies in open fights compared to Yasuke.

Since Naoe can't take many hits, her combat style relies more on avoiding and dodging attacks rather than tanking them. She also has other skills that help in combat, but taking down enemies as Naoe will generally take more time than it would with Yasuke.

Still, it's possible to go to open combat with Naoe and stealth with Yasuke in AC Shadows, and that seems to be the point Ubisoft wanted to emphasize with this gameplay reveal.

You'll be able to explore these differences yourself when Assassin's Creed Shadows launches on March 20. However, keep an eye on the game's global release times for each region and platform, as access may vary depending on your location and platform of choice.

True Crime Books

No matter how much anyone tries to deny it, there's something infinitely captivating about the potential darkness of the human mind. Call it morbid curiosity, but it's fascinating to realize the depths of depravity that some people are capable of reaching.

The True Crime genre is rife with tales of murder, betrayal, and darkness. If you want a glimpse into the darkness of a murderer's mind or a deep dive into their childhood to try and figure out what made them turn out the way they did, there's something out there for every purpose.

As someone who has a collection of True Crime books that would make even the most trusting of detectives a little suspicious, I've been reading about murder and crime since my teen years. As such, I've picked out a few favorites over the years.

Mindhunter

John Douglas

Mindhunter by John Douglas

Mindhunter was one of the books that inspired me to study Criminal Psychology. Although I've never done anything with that study, it's still an interesting subject. In Mindhunter, John Douglas gives details about the art of Criminal Profiling, something that he helped to father the concept of.

Having worked on cases such as Jeffrey Dahmer and serving as the inspiration for Jack Crawford in The Silence of the Lambs, John Douglas is a trustworthy guide as you take your first dip into the world of criminal psychology.

Talking with Serial Killers

Christopher Berry-Dee

As much as it's a weird concept to have a favorite Criminologist, Christopher Berry-Dee is mine, and he was part of my introduction to the True Crime genre all those years ago. Talking with Serial Killers is one of many books that follow the same format — in-depth descriptions of his meetings with some of the most depraved killers known to human history and verbatim retellings of his interviews with them.

Murders of the Black Museum

Gordon Honeycombe

Murders of the Black Museum by Gordon Honeycombe

As someone deeply interested in crime and criminal psychology, the Black Museum in London's Scotland Yard is somewhere that I've always longed to visit. It's filled with evidence and reports of murders committed in London over centuries, since the investigative base was established in 1829.

Sadly, it's closed to the public, so Murders of the Black Museum is as close as I'll ever visit. The book is filled with detailed looks at a multitude of murders and photos of evidence that hasn't been outside of Scotland Yard since it was put there, and it is infinitely interesting to dive into.

The Stranger Beside Me

Ann Rule

The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule

As fascinating as it is to look at a crime through a criminologist or a criminal psychologist's expertise, sometimes seeing the crimes through the eyes of someone close to the criminal is somehow more interesting. Ann Rule knew Ted Bundy when he was (ironically) working at the Crisis Prevention Center during the early '70s.

This gives Ann a unique perspective on Bundy, from before the time that he is known to have committed his first murder. She knew him as a friend, just another person in a world filled with them, before his name became a household name for all the wrong reasons. She writes about their friendship in The Stranger Beside Me, and it's an interesting insight into who he was before he became a monster.

The Five

Hallie Rubenhold

The Five by Hallie Rubenhold

I'm fairly convinced, by this point, that we will never definitively know who Jack the Ripper really was. He escaped detection at the time of his depraved crimes, his identity was never uncovered in the century that followed, and while there is still a constant string of names of could-bes, it's safe to assume that he will remain anonymous.

The same cannot be said for his victims. The five women who were brutally killed during his brief murderous stint in London's Whitechapel deserve to be known for more than the circumstances of their deaths. The Five is a deep dive into who they were before they died and offers a glimpse of life in the slums of Victorian London.

A Mother's Reckoning

Sue Klebold

A Mother's Reckoning by Sue Klebold

The Columbine Massacre is, as it should be, a touchy subject. It was the first significant mass shooting to take place in a school, and it has since become the precursor to many more horrific and heartbreaking events. The two perpetrators are now infamous, and their crimes are now a part of American history.

Dylan Klebold was one of the shooters, and A Mother's Reckoning is his mother's retelling of events leading up to and following that fateful day. It's easy to blame a mother for overlooking signs, but nobody blames Sue more than she does herself. All of the profits from her memoir were donated to mental health charities.

I'll Be Gone in the Dark

Michelle McNamara

I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara

Before writing I'll Be Gone in the Dark, Michelle McNamara was already a well-known true crime journalist, creating the TrueCrimeDiary.com website that proved very popular. At some point, she became obsessed with the idea of discovering the identity of a serial rapist and murderer in California, who she dubbed the Golden State Killer.

Sadly, the book was never finished before she died, but her husband took up the mantle with two other writers to complete her work and finally have it published. Two months after the book was finally released to the public, the cold case was solved when Joseph James DeAngelo was arrested and charged with the six murders McNamara desperately wanted to solve.

If You Tell

Gregg Olsen

If You Tell by Gregg Olsen

If You Tell is a gutwrenching true story of Nikki, Sami, and Tori Knotek, who were brutally mistreated and abused by their mother for their entire childhood. Abuse is never an easy topic to read, and Michelle Knotek took the levels of abuse to extremes that should never be possible between a mother and their children.

Mixed in with the horrific story of abuse are three murders, but also an inspirational story of sisterhood and determination to keep going. Even though, at times, If You Tell is the kind of book that you need to put down to take a step back, it's also a true tale of survival.

Cold Cases

Cheyna Roth

Cold Cases by Cheyna Roth

While reading about murderers is interesting, there's something darkly fascinating about crimes that remain unsolved. If you want to dive into some cases that haven't been solved yet, then Cold Cases is an excellent choice.

While some have been solved since the publication of Cold Cases (the Golden State Killer, for one), it's interesting to read about the cases from the perspective of a time before they were solved. For others, it's scary to realise that people can commit such heinous crimes and manage to get away with them.

Cannibal

Lois Jones

Cannibal by Lois Jones

One of the darkest and most horrifying murder cases I've ever come across was perpetrated by Armin Meiwes, also known as the Rotenburg Cannibal, who used the internet (more specifically, a Cannibalism fetish forum) to find a victim fully willing to be cannibalized. Cannibal is the story of his life, crimes, and sentencing.

For the act, Meiwes was originally jailed for only eight years and six months for Manslaughter, owing to the willingness of his victim. In a retrial in 2006, Meiwes was then convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison, quite rightfully. He argued that his crime was not murder, but instead assisted suicide, and entirely consensual between both parties.

Zoe and Mio with their dragons in Split Fiction

Split Fiction, Hazelight Studios' latest game, puts players in control of two up-and-coming authors trapped in the pages of their own interweaving stories. The game's yet another fine addition to the rapidly expanding "cozy couch co-op" scene, but I bet some players will want to tackle this literary odyssey solo.

Does Split Fiction have a single-player mode?

I'm afraid I have bad news for gamers who like to play solo: Split Fiction does not have a single-player mode. Following the pattern set by Hazelight Studios' previous titles, A Way Out and It Takes Two, Split Fiction puts all its chips on the cooperative experience. This isn't a game where co-op is a fun side feature; it's an integral part of the experience, one you won't be able to enjoy alone.

Going through games single-player isn't a matter of preference for some players. Trust me, I know; sometimes, it's hard to find someone willing to sit down and play a game with you, even if you have a perfectly comfortable couch to play them on. Luckily, Hazelight Studios has given players an easy way to play Split Fiction with friends through online multiplayer.

How to use the Friend Pass in Split Fiction

Split Fiction's Friend's Pass.
Image via Hazelight Studios

Split Fiction is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and every version comes with a Friend's Pass you can download for free. With this add-on, you and a friend can play through Split Fiction over the Internet. Here's how to play with another player online with the Split Fiction Friend Pass.

  • Purchase a copy of Split Fiction on any platform.
  • Ask your friend to download the Split Fiction Friend's Pass on their platform of choice.
  • Load up Split Fiction
  • Send an invitation for your session to the friend

Once you've got your friend to join your session, you can play through Split Fiction from start to finish. Split Fiction supports cross-platform play, so you can run the game on PC while your partner joins in through PS5.

The Rolfo Flashback SBC offers excellent value despite requiring about 660,000 coins worth of fodder. In exchange, you receive a highly versatile item that can play in different positions and has unique roles. Looking at her card, I see that she might be well suited for the CM position. Pinged Pass+ and Trickster+ are both excellent choices in the current meta, while the presence of Anticipate and Intercept make the card defensively strong.

Despite not being cheap, this SBC offers similar value to the Guti Fantasy Hero SBC, which is still available in Ultimate Team.

The Hunter, equipped with the Charge Blade.

Monster Hunter Wilds has a hidden feature that lets you change your carving knife skin by changing your hunter's belt—their waist armor.

This feature isn't clearly explained in the MH Wilds interface, likely because it depends entirely on what armor your character is wearing. You can't freely change the knife's appearance whenever you want, and it's more of a bonus tied to your armor choice rather than a pure cosmetic option like knife skins in other games.

If you want to see all the different knife models, you'll need to wear all armor sets at different times, even if they aren't best suited for your area.

All carving knife skins in Monster Hunter Wilds

A player shared a list of all the carving knife models they found on the Monster Hunter Wilds subreddit, and they total 26.

https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/comments/1j4qtaf/comment/mgb7io8/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Interestingly, some of these knives change depending on your character's gender. For example, the Balarina Coil and Udra Mirecoil each have different knife models for male and female characters.

These knife skins come from Coil Armor sets crafted from materials of specific monsters you defeat in the game. However, they look the same regardless of whether you're using a standard, alpha, or beta version of the gear. As long as you equip the waist armor, the corresponding knife skin will appear, no matter what other armor pieces you're wearing.

Some standout models include the lightsaber-like knife from the Artian Coil Alpha and the pitch-black knives from the Dahaad Coils.

The carving knife skin applies to any action that uses the knife, such as carving animations, steak cutting, and other in-game interactions. To see the effect, equip the corresponding waist armor and check out your new knife skin.

It's unclear if players will eventually be able to select a knife skin independently of their waist armor. For now, the feature remains completely tied to the gear piece you have equipped unless you want to dive into Monster Hunter Wilds mods to look for further customizations.

Books about women who changed the world

It was Beyoncé who once sang "Who runs the world? Girls", and in a history (and current times) filled with men making the rules and bending them to their will, it can be easy to assume that Beyoncé might not have been entirely correct with that statement.

However, women are the basis of life. Without them, none of you or anyone you know would be here. We all have mothers who brought us into the world, so women should be thanked for a lot of things. So yes, women are more than capable of changing or running the world, should they have the power or circumstance to do so.

Throughout history, women have seemed to take a backseat to the men in charge, but that doesn't mean there haven't been a lot of women changing the world for everyone. Their contributions to life as we now know it should not be diminished and should be celebrated.

With International Women's Day just around the corner on March 8, here are 10 books about fascinating women who changed the world for those who live in it now.

I Am Malala

Malala Yousafzai

Malala Yousafzai is an activist, television producer, and the youngest ever Nobel Peace Prize winner in the history of the award for her work ensuring the education of girls and young women in the Swat District of Pakistan at the age of 17. Why? Because her determination to receive an education resulted in her being shot in the face at the age of 15 by the Taliban who sought to ban her and all girls in her district from attending school.

She survived, and became the most famous teenager in the world, going on to fight for the education of young girls not only in Pakistan, but around the world. She founded the Malala Fund, a non-profit organization, and completed her education in the UK. Truly inspirational, and truly a woman who has already changed the world for millions.

Marie Curie: A Life

Susan Quinn

Marie Curie: A Life by Susan Quinn

Radioactivity is a common idea in the world now. We have nuclear power plants, endless fiction about the consequences of radioactive fallout, and video games centered around the subject. Back in 1898, Marie Curie was the first person to discover it, and responsible for the discovery of Radium itself.

Not only would fiction be a little duller without her discoveries, but her work to champion the use of radiation in medicine has directly led to the use of Radiotherapy to kill Cancer cells in patients suffering from the disease. She has saved millions, perhaps billions of lives with her discoveries and is absolutely deserving of her two Nobel prizes in both Physics and Chemistry.

The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks

Jeanne Theoharis

The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks by Jeanne Theoharis

Acting over an incredible six decades, Rosa Parks is an icon of the Civil Rights Movement and best known for her choice not to give up her seat on the bus in a challenge to the racial segregation of the 1950s. Her choice sparked the Montgomery bus boycott and further action, all of which worked to spark radical changes to the way of life for all Americans, and inspired similar actions around the world.

The 1956 federal court case Browder v. Gayle, which ruled that segregation on public transport was unconstitutional, was brought about by her decision that day. Her entire life after that point was dedicated to activism and making things better for both African Americans and women alike. When she died, she was the first non-government official to lie in honor at the U.S. Capitol.

Florence Nightingale: The Woman and Her Legend

Mark Bostridge

Florence Nightingale: The Woman and Her Legend by Mark Bostridge

Now known as the mother of modern medicine, Florence Nightingale became world-renowned for her work with soldiers on the battlefields of the Crimean War. She increased survival rates by a massive degree thanks to her insistence on improving hygiene and cleanliness, and earned the nickname "The Lady with the Lamp" from her night-time observations of injured soldiers.

After the Crimean War, upon her return to the UK, Florence established the first ever secular nursing school at St. Thomas' Hospital, London. It's still going on to this day, as part of King's College London, and training millions of both men and women in the nursing career. Outside of nursing, Florence also helped to abolish hard prostitution laws, and advocated for better hunger relief in Africa. The shockwaves of her legacy are felt to this day, and life would be vastly different without her contributions.

My Own Story

Emmeline Pankhurst

My Own Story by Emmeline Pankhurst

Regardless of whether or not you exercise your right to vote as you should, I think we can all agree that women even having the opportunity to do so is something that we should all be thankful for. That would not have been possible without the Suffragettes, spearheaded in part by the incredible Emmeline Pankhurst.

Although most known for her efforts to get women the right to vote, she also convinced the American suffrage movement to sideline their efforts to support the war effort in the lead-up to World War 1, and after eventually moving to Canada in 1922, helped women to get an equal footing in the fight against venereal diseases. Women everywhere owe much of their freedom to Emmeline and her fellow Suffragettes around the world.

Me: Stories of My Life

Katharine Hepburn

Me: Stories of my Life by Katharine Hepburn

Katharine Hepburn is known for her silver screen roles, but she has a much more important legacy than her acting career alone. It's safe to say that fashion, and societal expectations of women for that matter, have come a long way since the 1930s. Katharine Hepburn, with her independent nature and headstrong attitude, paved the way for a new breed of movie star and gave confidence to women worldwide.

She wore pants before it was fashionable and societally acceptable for women to do so. She avoided marriage (after her first short-lived marriage, anyway), and she pushed boundaries that no longer exist because of her actions. She did not give interviews and avoided talking to fans for the most part. That's what makes Me: Stories of my Life so important, because it offers a glimpse into the life of someone fiercely private, who changed the world in a small but meaningful way.

Diana: Her True Story

Andrew Morton

Diana: Her True Story by Andrew Morton

If you're outside of the UK, you'll likely mostly know of Princess Diana from the depiction of her story in The Crown, at least if you're from a generation born after her death. However, as a British woman, I can honestly say that her life is inspiring, and Diana: Her True Story was an absolute bomb that dropped on the Royal Family when it was published in 1992.

She was brutally honest about her misery during her marriage to the now King Charles, admitting to suicidal ideology, depression, and eating disorders. Despite all of those issues, Diana was a devoted mother to both William and Harry, she walked into active minefields and sparked a debate about AIDS by willingly spending time with those suffering from the illness.

She was beloved, and in my personal opinion, the only member of the British Royal Family who actually made any difference in the world during the last century at least.

The Fun of It

Amelia Earheart

The Fun of It by Amelia Earheart

Published in 1932, before Amelia's disappearance and presumed death in 1937, The Fun of It is a truly inspirational book written by a woman who was not afraid of chasing her dreams despite the hardship she faced. She speaks of being a "woman in a man's world", and that premise still rings true today, but her determination is to be applauded and her achievements celebrated.

During her life, not only did Amelia Earheart collect firsts like it was her right in life (first female passenger to cross the Atlantic, first woman to make a non-stop solo transatlantic flight, I could go on), but she also advocated for women's rights as a member of the National Woman's Party. She was a faculty member at Purdue University and became a career counselor to young female students at a time when their options felt extremely limited.

Harriet Tubman: The Road to Freedom

Catherine Clinton

Harriet Tubman was not only instrumental in the formation and running of the Underground Railroad, but also legendary because of her work on it. She escaped the slavery that she was born into and then went on to free around 70 others, and also served as an armed scout and spy during the American Civil War. To say Harriet had guts would be a massive understatement.

Her actions during her life directly impacted African Americans, inspiring them to fight for their rights even into the modern age. She is considered one of America's most famous historical figures, as well as one of the most influential, and her legacy is one to respect.

Ten Days in a Mad-House

Nellie Bly

Ten Days in a Mad-House by Nellie Bly

If you're looking for a woman who truly deserves to be looked up to, look no further than Nellie Bly, pioneer of female investigative journalism and all-around badass. Her first foray into journalism was a response to an article in the Pittsburgh Dispatch that stated that women were principally for "keeping house and birthing children". Ahead of her time in many ways, Nellie argued that not all women would marry and there simply needed to be better jobs for women.

After that, she forged a career as an investigative journalist in a time when the role simply wasn't societally accepted. She is most known for an exposé about the conditions inside the Women's Lunatic Asylum on Blackwell's Island, New York (now known as Roosevelt Island), which she managed to write by pretending to be insane herself and getting herself admitted to the asylum for research purposes. Her work, documented in Ten Days in a Mad-House, forced massive reforms to the care of patients in asylums and paved the way for female journalists.
