Wow, is it almost time for Season 4 already? The Black Ops 6 era of Call of Duty seems to be zooming by, but it does at least mean another wave of content will flood the game very soon. While it's not the most extraordinary season I've ever seen Call of Duty produce, it's still a solid offering with plenty of new weapons, modes, and maps (including a remaster of one of my favorite CoD arenas). While Zombies fans may be disappointed to hear that there won't be a new round-based map for them in Black Ops 6 Season 4, there is at least a surprising, long-forgotten mode making a comeback after more than 12 years of absence.

With promises of it being one of the biggest projects EA's studios have ever undertaken, and with community testing happening earlier than in previous games, Battlefield 6 is shaping up to be a potential return to form for the series which suffered a reputational knock with its last entry, 2042. Today, the FPS game's developers have revealed some of the shooter's first gameplay details, and they revolve around the Battlefield 6 class system. While the loathed Specialists of 2042 are out (huzzah!) there's one aspect that is, even at this early stage, causing some concern and grumbles among fans.

Civilization 7 is caught between two warring sensibilities. Since 1991, it's been a historical 4X game, and players naturally expect that it not only honors but attempts to capture and recreate real events - or at least the essence of certain periods. It's also Civilization 7. Firaxis has nailed the formula, but after 34 years, I'd imagine even the most cast-iron fans are ready for a major reinvention. This, surely, is why we have the controversial Ages system, which slashes micromanagement and allows for a more playful mixing of leaders, abilities, and civs. But given the response to Civilization 7 so far, it's perhaps an overcorrection. Enter Ara History Untold. With a new DLC on the way, it could be the 4X game to balance historical accuracy with more inventive, fantastical alternative modes.

More leaks are pointing to the launch of a new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 Super gaming GPU coming out, and the latest rumor again appears to confirm that the new GPU will have 24GB of VRAM rather than the 16GB on the standard RTX 5080. If this leak is right, though, there's not much else new - it fundamentally looks like an RTX 5080 but with more VRAM.

Although it only has 16GB of VRAM and a high $999 price, the lack of high-end competition means the RTX 5080 is still the best graphics card you can buy in this price range right now. However, as I found in my RTX 5080 review, the comparative lack of VRAM can limit this otherwise-powerful Nvidia GPU, which falls over if you try to run Indiana Jones and the Great Circle at 4K with path tracing, for example.

Following on from its triumph with the Radeon RX 9070 XT, AMD has entered Computex with all guns blazing for its latest GPU launch. The new AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB will apparently cost just $349, a massive $70 less than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. Not only that, but AMD says the 8GB version will match the price of the new RTX 5060. There's just one problem with these prices – I don't believe them.

I was blown away by the last AMD GPU launch in my Radeon RX 9070 XT review. With its $599 MSRP, 16GB of VRAM, FSR 4 support, and awesome performance, it was easily the best graphics card in its league, putting the $549 RTX 5070 to shame.

As a mini gaming PC fan, I've always been fond of the idea of using an eGPU, but they've usually been too clunky or slow to make them a practical option. This new Asus ROG XG Station 3 eGPU dock, however, might just be enough to change my mind. This model, unveiled for the first time at Computex 2025, comes with a brand new design and much faster Thunderbolt 5 speeds, along with some interesting benchmark data.

This Asus dock, which at first glance looks a lot like a Puddle Jumper from Stargate, supports cards with power demands of up to 1,000W, meaning you can easily power the best graphics card options with it, including the RTX 5090, although the most powerful cards will require a power supply upgrade. It also supports the Asus GC-HPWR connector, meaning no cables are needed – it's a slot-in-and-go scenario, as long as you have an Asus graphics card that supports the upgraded BTF connector.

David Gaider wants to make a new RPG and, with credits that include the original Baldur's Gate games, Dragon Age: Origins through Inquisition, and Star Wars: The Old Republic, it's no secret as to why. Gaider's writing has launched franchises, paved the way for the romance systems we see in games like Baldur's Gate 3 and, in many ways, changed the way that we approach narrative-focused videogames. But before we get another big RPG, there's Malys, an "unholy roguelike deckbuilder" that oozes high gothic elegance. Cast as Noah, a former priest turned exorcist, your job is to hunt down the titular demon and bring about its end in the most bloody way possible. It's a marked shift in tone from Summerfall Studios' first game, Stray Gods, but it doesn't skimp on style.

I've played Resident Evil so many times that I would consider the STARS team personal friends, but I'm not convinced by their tactical prowess. Standing in the hall of the Spencer mansion, Chris, Jill, and Wesker unanimously decide (as I suppose is their prerogative, as horror game protagonists) to split up. Perhaps if they'd stayed together, that entire fateful night would have been, well, less fateful. Such is the premise of Critical Shift. Sent to investigate a top-secret research facility, you're accosted by an army of T-virus-esque monsters and mutations. But you're not alone. Combining turn-based tactics and survival game crafting, this feels like a Resident Evil version of XCOM.

The roguelike deckbuilder is a remorseless evil that strives to colonise every dream ever dreamt by the human brain. It is a sparkling, shuffling plague, germinated by Slay The Spire, that threatens to absorb every other mortal pastime, from space travel through poker to carpentry. We must find a way to neutralise the entity before it assimilates us all. But in the words of the oldest proverb: just one more go. Just one more go, before I dissipate raging into that goodnight. Just one more run, before I play all those shortform avant garde releases in my Itch.io wallet.

If Monster Train 2 were the last roguelike deckbuilder I ever played, I would consider myself fairly pleased, and also very relieved. While not a huge departure from the game that plunged Matt Cox (RPS in peace) into unholy raptures, it's a great pick if you're fond of numbers going up and realising it's 1.30am and that you are now too addled by card synergies to sleep. You do not have to like or understand trains, but it's a plus.

Mario Kart World Developers Explain Why Cow Is a Character

In Nintendo's latest Ask the Developer interview series, Mario Kart World Producer Kosuke Yabuki and other members of the development team like Atsuko Asahi, Kenta Sato, Masaaki Ishikawa, and Shintaro Jikumaru explained how Cow ended up being a playable character and ushered in other NPC drivers. It all started when a developer, who Ishikawa didn't name, drew a sketch of the cow in the background driving a truck. As a result, options opened up in the new entry in the series.

Both Yabuki and Ishikawa cited the "for fun" sketch of Cow driving a truck, which seemed to be made during brainstorming new possible racers. Ishikawa said, "Each new Mario Kart game features new characters to race with, but since we added so many to the previous game, we wondered where we could go from there. And then one of the designers came up with that silly sketch of Cow cruising along, and I thought to myself, 'This is it!'" This led to a prototype of that character, and then other NPC drivers like Cheep Cheep and Pokey ended up being broached as well. Yabuki also noted, "It's pretty funny to see a four-legged Cow holding onto motorcycle handlebars with her front hooves."

Jikumaru also noted that the appearance of Cow as the first NPC driver in Mario Kart World also influenced the addition of the Kamek item. The developer noted, "It was thanks to the introduction of various 'NPC drivers' that the idea to have Kamek appear as an item was born. When Kamek casts a spell, the racers are transformed into playable NPCs, so one by one they might all turn into Cow mid-race. I think it turned out to be a unique item that has never been seen before. In fact, Cow is a character who's inspired a lot of different ideas, including obstacle characters like Camel and Giraffe."

Mario Kart World debuts for the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, appearing alongside the new console as a launch title.

Yostar Stella Sora closed beta test new game

Yostar announced the closed beta test dates for its new game Stella Sora, and that kicks off on May 28, 2025. It will run for over a week, ending on June 8, 2025. This comes after registration to participate opened in April 2025.

This announcement also included a full timeline for this phase. As a reminder, the cut-off to try and get into this test ended a while ago. We could only register for a chance to play until May 16, 2025.

Here's the timeline for the closed beta phase:

  • May 22, 2025: Picked players will be emailed and told they will get to participate.
  • May 26, 2025: Closed beta test participants will be able to download the build.
  • May 28, 2025: The closed beta begins.
  • June 8, 2025: The closed beta ends.

Alongside the closed beta test dates for Stella Sora, there's also an update on pre-registration progress. It currently passed 2,500,000 people. As a result, everyone gets 10,000 Dorra, the in-game earned currency, and 200 Stellanite Dust, another type of currency, for free. The next tier is 3,000,000 people, which unlocks a Tranquil Retreat Disc for everyone. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Switch and PS4 Physical Copy Sale Starts

The physical copies of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collections for the Switch and PS4 are now both on sale on Amazon. The ones sold through the official Square Enix store on the site are 33% off. This means it is $49.99 for for each one, rather than $74.99. This is on par with some of the lowest prices for the six-game compilation so far.

These retail copies of Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster initially ended up being pretty rare, as at first Square Enix only sold the Switch and PS4 copies outside Japan through its official site. That first run was limited and sold out. In Japan, physical copies were available with an English language option, and other retailers would ship them worldwide. However, Square Enix started selling another run in October 2024 that ended up being more widely available

When you get this collection, you're getting the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster versions of FFI, FFII, FFIII, FFIV, FFV, and FFVI. As a bonus, the physical copy includes a sheet of stickers as well. This features 12 stickers of character sprites of heroes and, in the case of FFVI's Kefka, villains from the included entries. All copies have that sheet, and it isn't a first-run bonus.

The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster sale on physical Switch and PS4 copies on Amazon is live now for a limited time, and the games are available digitally on the Switch, PS4, PC, and mobile devices.

Honkai: Star Rail Caelus Stelle English Trailblazer Voice Actors Changed

HoYoVerse confirmed in the official patch notes for the 3.3 Honkai: Star Rail update that it changed the English Trailblazer voice actors for Caelus and Stelle. It did not reveal the new performers behind either character. Previously, Caleb Yen played the male option and Rachael Chau voiced the female one.

The official patch notes for 3.3 noted the Trailblazer English voice actors change in the section discussing changes to Honkai: Star Rail audio. It noted that for now, the snippets that come up when using the Remembrance version of the character in battle or going through the Trailblaze Mission story quests in 3.3 will sound different. It then confirmed that future updates will change the lines for other paths and quests. HoYoVerse offered no explanation in the update and didn't announce who the new actors are.

This change for the Caelus and Stelle English voice actors isn't the first time Honkai: Star Rail performers ended up being changed or just disappearing. Starting in 2024, we began to see alterations. In the case of Dan Heng and Himeko, voiced lines for both stopped appearing. So while others would speak during story segments, there would be silence if someone used the English language option. All of this started happening after the SAG-AFTRA strike started in July 2024, with performers striking about concerns regarding AI being used to train or replicate people's performances.

We've also seen English voice actors changed with little or no notice like this for other HoYoVerse games as the strike continued. Most recently, it also occurred in Zenless Zone Zero. Lycaon ended up being replaced in 1.6. There's a new English performer for Soldier 11 as well.

Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the 3.3 update is now live for the game worldwide.

New Tamagotchi Paradise Virtual Pet Debuts in July 2025

Bandai Namco announced its new Tamagotchi Paradise model, and the virtual pet will debut in Japan on July 12, 2025. It will appear worldwide as well, though the English site says the release date will vary. The device will be a part of a World Tamagotchi Tour that includes appearances at MCM London between May 23-25, 2025, followed by additional appearances at events like San Diego Comic Con, Japan Expo in Paris, Tokyo Toy Show, and CCXP Mexico. The US branch of Amazon doesn't have listings for it live yet, but Amazon Japan shows the Blue Water, Pink Land, and Purple Sky variants already.

Early comics and reports noted the unique points this time would involve a view of a whole planet, a crank that lets you zoom in on characters in places, and the ability to shape evolution based on where the creature grows up in addition to what they eat. The other details confirmed there are 12 species types and over 50 characters total divided into them. Breeding remains a gameplay element, which affects how characters look when grown up as they take traits from both parents, and the new devices can connect to each other by taking the lid off the top to try and get different pets to marry and produce a new egg.

Bandai Namco also mentioned the Tamagotchi Paradise virtual pet will interact with Lab Tamas at stores and use Tama Lab Stickers. The stickers include Tama Cell details. The Lab Tamas let people connect a device for items or just play minigames.

Here's how the devices and Japanese packaging look:

As for the World Tamagotchi Tour, that will involve opportunities to test out and see devices. Bandai Namco also mentioned it will sell new virtual pets and collectibles at these events, like the Original Tamagotchi Mametchi Robot variant, but availability will depend on launch dates and other factors. For the new model, there will be an exclusive Tama Lab eight-digit lab code and sticker for Mongatchi.

The Tamagotchi Paradise will debut in Japan on July 12, 2025, and the new virtual pet will appear worldwide in 2025 as well.

Review: Monster Train 2 Is as Satisfying as the First Game

We are in the midst of a glut of roguelikes that also involve deck-building mechanics. There's so much to sort through, likely not enough time or money to play them all, and I know I often see titles that are too clearly doing a little too good of a job "paying homage" to the most popular properties. Not that this wealth of options is a bad thing. The original Monster Train, which is sublime, wouldn't be here if games like Hand of Fate and Slay the Spire didn't pave the way and inspire developer Shiny Shoe. Fortunately for us, Monster Train 2 feels as satisfying as its predecessor, with this new game building on everything good from the original and including more strategic options.

While in the original Monster Train we ran a train right into hell, Monster Train 2 is taking us to Heaven. The Titans are a universal threat, Seraph is a traitor, and we begin with the once-divine Banished angels and demonic Pyreborne dragons making the first push to the top. While we initially learn about the situation from Banished leader Fel, going through runs and pushing yourself unlocks additional clans, like the Lazarus League scientists, Luna Coven witches, Under Legion fungi, and more insights into the current situation. If all goes well and we make smart choices while playing, the new covenant between angels and demons might result in everyone being saved.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjUmYGhzYec&ab_channel=BigFanGames

The Monster Train formula remains largely unchanged in Monster Train 2, with any new additions layered on top of existing concepts to enhance the core gameplay experience. You start by picking two Clans, which will influence the decks you build, and probably a Pyreheart modifier. Your train features multiple rooms layered one on top of the other. You'll be building a deck of cards to deal with the hordes trying to stop your train from reaching its destination. You place units in each room to face off during the battle phase, hopefully protecting the fire at the top that ensures your run into the Abyss can continue. A fight starts with an idea of who you'll face. You'll then be able to use some of your points to initially assign and even arm the units you'll place on floor's room on the train. Every round, enemies that survive combat move up another floor to the fires at the top. You'll get a chance to pull from your hand to perform spells, arm units, and dispatch new warriors to floors ahead of the next assault. This repeats until the final wave and perhaps an encounter with a more devious boss. Once that opponent is on the field, it will lead to previous rooms it destroys being blocked off as it makes its ascent and special mechanics kicking in to make fending off that greater foe a greater challenge.

During your turn, it's possible to place units. (Said units can also gain new traits and be buffed based on events or store purchases between battles.) Once in position, Equipment Cards with armor or weapon traits and buffs could be applied, and Room Cards could influence what happens in a specific room on the train. (For example, a type of sword could allow for multiple hits or you could get more money from defeated units in a room on a floor.) While you might see the same units repeatedly, due to the Clans you pick and cards you've unlocked, the Pyre Hearts and their conditions picked at the outset of a run, the Equipment Cards you stock, the Room Cards you find, and the effects from purchases and events mean each playthrough feels different.

The customization applies when picking your path. As you go from one fight to another on your travels, you'll be able to choose which track to follow. While they will tend to share one nod at the beginning of the journey and end up at the same encounter, the other stops along the way differ. Do you pick a road with a random event, one that could include a crossover guest encounter and a shop, or would one with an opportunity to upgrade a character or make more decisions about the contents of your deck be better for your current strategy? Random events can be unbalanced an unfun and punishing way sometimes, making the perk absolutely not worth the pains tied to it. It's probably one of the few things that actually bothered me about Monster Train 2, and I hope there is rebalancing in Shiny Shoe's future.

And you'll see a lot of those options and runs as you play, as the execution means you won't derail after only one or two bouts. Since your sacred flame at the top of the train will "fight back" against any opponent that reaches it and is pretty sturdy even at the start, an enemy or boss slipping past your defenses and getting up there isn't a guaranteed "game over." You might still make it through another one or two fights before being wiped out. It feels like Shiny Shoe wants you to play long enough to learn from your mistakes or pick up on strategies you might like, so your next attempt has a better chance of going better.

Which is important, as I think anyone who picks up Monster Train 2 will end up playing it for a very long time. There is so much packed into this game. At one point, I ended up earning a wealth of content that I would have expected to be paid DLC (and gladly paid extra to access). The number of additional features, both gameplay-influencing and purely cosmetic, are staggering, and I am so excited about spending a few months trying out different Clan pairings, working on different deck mechanics, and going through the different modes. Yes, there are multiple modes, so if you don't feel like trying to push yourself to advance the story, you could pick Endless to see how far you can get with no limits or try the Daily Challenge.

I love Monster Train 2 now, and I suspect I'll love it even more after putting 50 to 100 hours into it. Shiny Shoe did a fantastic job of keeping everything important in Monster Train, not disrespecting the original experience in any way, and implementing new Clans, card types, encounters, and mechanics that keep it challenging in a manageable way. Even the addition of a story is fascinating, considering the original only featured hints at the series' lore. I love what the team did here, and Monster Train 2 ended up becoming as essential an entry in an roguelike library as the original.

Monster Train 2 will come to the Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on May 21, 2025. A demo is available on Steam.

Fantasy Life i West Dryridge Desert Leafe

After arriving in Ginormosia in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, you'll meet a peculiar eye tower before exploring an open world. Along the way, you'll find tiny Leafe creatures stuck in the ground that, when freed, will reward you with special materials and recipes.

The first region you'll explore after discovering Ginormosia is West Dryridge Desert. Although it's a relatively small region compared to the rest of the map, it still holds numerous secrets to uncover and five Leafes to help. Here's a complete list of every Leafe location in Fantasy Life i's West Dryridge Desert.

West Dryridge Desert Leafe locations in Fantasy Life i

Fantasy Life i's West Dryridge Desert features five hidden Leafe creatures. They'll initially appear as leaves coming out of the ground, which you can pluck to free and receive rewards. Below are all five Leafes and their locations:

First Leafe location

Fantasy Life i first Leafe in West Dryridge Desert
Screenshot by Destructoid

Your first Leafe is at the northernmost tip of West Dryridge Desert. If you start from Googlina Tower, travel northwest along the path until the terrain turns into grey rocks. Climb these rocks until you spot the Leafe in the center of one of the platforms. Pulling the Leafe out will reward you with a Cashnut.

Second Leafe location

Fantasy Life i second Leafe in West Dryridge Desert

Your second Leafe is directly southeast of Googlina Tower. Returning to the tower, travel south until you see a small pond with a center island. On this island is a Leafe between two trees, which you can pull out of the ground to receive a Millstone recipe page.

Third Leafe location

Fantasy Life i third Leafe in West Dryridge Desert
Screenshot by Destructoid

West Dryridge Desert's third Leafe is hiding right at the southernmost part of the area. However, you'll need a mount to access it, as the entire center part of the desert is scorching hot. Entering it will damage you every second, making it easy to fall prey to its effects.

Once you progress through the main story enough to unlock a mount, head south toward the U-shaped rock formation and climb up it until you spot a yellow leaf on the ground. Pulling it out will reward you with some Desert Cactus.

Fourth Leafe location

Our fourth Leafe is located directly northeast of the third Leafe's spot, next to Jo'ee Shrine. If you haven't encountered the shrine yet, you'll visit it during Fantasy Life i's main storyline. As you approach the shrine, go behind it to spot this orange Leafe in the ground. It'll give you three mini bombs as thanks for pulling it out of the ground.

Fifth Leafe location

Fantasy Life i fifth Leafe in West Dryridge Desert

The final Leafe is along the northernmost border of West and East Dryridge Deserts. The easiest way to access this spot is to travel northwest from the fourth Leafe's spot or directly north from the third's location. As you approach the border, you'll spot its blue leaves in the ground between two rock formations. Interacting with it will give you three Magical Omelets, marking the end of your hunt for all five West Dryridge Desert Leafe locations.

RE4 Remake Leon aiming gun

In the history of video games, there is no shortage of all-time great games that have built memories along with the industry and gaming community itself.

Sometimes, though, games begin to show their age and require a bit of a refresh or a remaster. Other times, the games are so popular that they are worthy of a full-fledged remake, built by a team that may have grown up on the original. This creates something new and fun, yet worthy of the classics they were inspired by.

Video game remakes, love them or hate them, are here to stay. They're a proven success when handled right, and with a growing backlog of existing classics that are getting long in the tooth and could do with being brought to modern times for a new generation, they will continue for the foreseeable future.

There's already been quite a few beautifully done remakes, some more faithful to the source than others. Here's our picks for the ones that have done the best at making something new with something beloved.

The best video game remakes ever made

Cloud and Sephiroth fighting in FF7 Rebirth
Image via Square Enix

For our criteria, we are trying to stick with remakes, games that have been rebuilt from the ground up. This means that upscaled remasters, such as Metal Gear Solid HD Collection or Mass Effect Legendary Edition, are not up for discussion.

Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2 remake screenshot of Leon aiming at zombie cops
Image via Capcom

Capcom set the standard in 2019 with its expert handling of an all-time classic, refining the experience, cutting out the fat, and adding in some new stuff here and there, all wrapped up in a stellar gameplay experience and complete package.

Demon's Souls

Demon's Souls remake screenshot of a boss fight
Image via PlayStation

It's hard to believe that this stunner was a PS5 launch title. Years later, it still holds up as one of the most gorgeous and technically impressive games in recent memory, solidifying Bluepoint Games as one of the top studios around.

Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 remake chainsaw guy
Image via Capcom

Yeah, Capcom really are the masters at this. Aside from Resident Evil 3, which was a step back as far as remakes go, mainly due to how truncated it felt by comparison, the company just knows how to handle all-time favorite games. RE4 Remake is one of the better games in recent memory, and it refined the classic GameCube and PS2 era game with attention and care.

Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!

Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu screenshot aiming at Clefairy
Image via Nintendo

I really enjoyed the Let's Go games, but their value is in how they brought the franchise to the mainstream even further with a streamlined experience perfect for kids and mainstream players who may have been introduced to the franchise with the juggernaut that was Pokémon GO.

Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth

FF7 Rebirth screenshot of the crew looking out over the open world
Image via Square Enix

While Final Fantasy VII Remake felt like a proof of concept, Rebirth delivered on it by coming through with an exceptional game. While remakes like Resident Evil stay true to the original game by and large, Square Enix has flipped the game on its head by telling a different story while using the original game as a more loose framework. And it's done in a beautiful open world worth exploring for dozens of hours.

Dead Space

Dead Space remake screenshot aiming at a necromorph
Image via EA

Another exceptional remake, Dead Space brought the survival horror classic to modern times with stunning visuals and a mostly faithful retelling of the original. One could argue that this is exactly what remakes should be like.

Shadow of the Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus remake screenshot
Image via PlayStation

The Shadow of the Colossus remake in 2018 was also a bit ahead of the curve, but was the perfect title for Bluepoint Studios to whet their beaks with before moving on to bigger, more beautiful remakes once the technology evolved.

Metroid: Zero Mission

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycEceMUwRfc

One of the oldest titles on this list, Metroid: Zero Mission was a remake before remakes were cool. The 2004 Game Boy Advance title reimagined the very first Metroid game with the framework laid by Metroid Fusion, which is, in my humble opinion, the best game in the franchise.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater remake screenshot of a skater grinding on a rail
Image via Activision

How do you take an all-time fan favorite sports-adjacent game and bring it to modern times? THPS 1+2 is how. And soon, THPS 3+4 could find its way on the list, too. It feels impossible to recreate the vibes of the original games, but this one comes damn close.

Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver

Pokemon HeartGold SoulSilver screenshot of Chikorita fighting a Mareep
Image via Nintendo

The Nintendo DS was a great platform to expand on the Pokémon IP, and these remakes of the Gen 2 Gameboy Color classics are fondly remembered as some of the best in the series when it comes to nostalgia. HG and SS added a second screen and a whole lot of character to the OG games.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Halo Combat Evolved remake screenshot
Image via Microsoft

The Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo 2: Anniversary remakes are just two of six Halo games in one collection, creating one of the biggest "bang for your buck" bundles in all of gaming history.

Did we miss anything on our list? What other classic games should be remade? Let us know in the comments below.

Salvage 2000 in Black Ops 6 Season 4

The early season patch notes for BO6 Zombies are out, as Activision has revealed some of the content coming in Season 4.

The mantra for the new season is Keep Your Enemies Close, but Zombies players will have to be extra careful. It might not be advisable for them to get in close proximity to the undead, and there will be plenty of challenges coming their way. Here's everything that has been revealed on May 21 by Activision as far as the Zombies mode is concerned.

BO6 Zombies Season 4 Grief Mode overview

The Grief mode will be a competitive setup between two teams of four players each. The objective for each team will be to outwit the opposition by capturing different zones that will apply debuffs to the enemies. This mode will be available across all five Zombies maps, and there will be certain restrictions.

This will be the first time since Black Ops 2 that the Grief mode will return to Zombies. For the first time, teams will be indirectly competing against one another, with the main focus being on strategically capturing the zones.

BO6 Zombies Season 4 LTMs and challenges

Season 4 will have its own set of limited-time challenges and modes to compete in and unlock unique rewards.

  • Dark Ops Challenge will be available at launch, involving a fresh set of hidden Calling Cards, plenty of XP, and a new set of challenges.
  • Mid-Season will mark the entry of Starting Room, which will have players drop in together in a particular zone of the map. The objective will be to survive as many rounds as possible.
  • Mid-Season will also have the Abomination Challenge for the players, where we will get access to a warped version of Liberty Falls to hunt down an ultra-powered-up Abomination.

BO6 Zombies Season 4 GobbleGums

We are getting more GobbleGums during Season 4, along with a host of different gameplay changes.

Season 4 GobbleGums in Black Ops 6
Screenshot via Activision

  • Explosive Flourish (Epic): Reloading weapons will create an explosion.
  • Flavor Hex (Legendary): Activates a random Ultra GobbleGum.
  • Rainburps (Whimsical): Eliminated zombies will belch sparkly rainbow bubbles.

A new Ammo Mod is also coming to Season 4 at launch in the form of Shatter Blast. Here are its major and minor augments available for the players to research.

  • Big Game
  • Blast Chain
  • Blast Repair
  • Blast Zoe
  • Blast Boost
  • Blast Wave

There's an additional support weapon, and those who love explosions will specifically enjoy the Salvage: 2000. This semi-automatic rocket launcher can be obtained at the Crafting Table. It will feature an ammo capacity of 12 rockets.

More information will be revealed regarding the Zombies event once we get closer to the Season 4 launch date.

A ghost standing by a campfire in Phasmophobia

Phasmophobia has been in early access since September 2020, and there are still many updates planned before it officially launches. One of these updates is Horror 2.0, and if you haven't been around since the start, you may be unfamiliar with what it is.

The Horror 2.0 update used to be discussed fairly frequently, but since it was delayed many times, it has since become a more obscure update that only longtime players of the game are super familiar with. It's a pretty exciting expansion that will completely reshape the game, so if you're eager to learn more about it, here's what Horror 2.0 is in Phasmophobia.

What is the Horror 2.0 update for Phasmophobia?

Ghosts floating in a purple and red sky in Phasmophobia
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Horror 2.0 update is a planned update that will completely overhaul key gameplay aspects in Phasmophobia. This includes ghost models, ghost events, ghost interactions, ghost hunts, and all other key ghost features. The goal of the entire update is to make the game a lot scarier and more detailed.

This major update has been planned since 2021. After many delays, Phasmophobia's biggest update entered development on May 21, 2025. It still has quite a way to go before release, but it's officially being worked on now.

All Phasmophobia Horror 2.0 update features

So far, we only have a general idea of what Horror 2.0 will entail, including several overhauls and additions to key gameplay features, most of which are focused on the ghost. Everything included in this update is designed to rework the horror aspects of the game and to make ghost-hunting a lot scarier overall. Here's everything we know will be included in this update so far.

  • New ghost models
  • Changes to ghost hunts
  • Changes to ghost events
  • Changes to ghost interactions
  • New hallucinations feature
  • New death scenes
  • New death animations
  • New sounds

Additional features will likely be unveiled as Horror 2.0 gets closer to actually launching. As any new additions are unveiled for this massive overhaul, we'll add them here.

When is Horror 2.0 for Phasmophobia?

Horror 2.0 is currently slated for release sometime in 2026. There's no official release date yet, and this update is only in the concept phase, so its release is likely quite a way off. Since it's likely slated to launch with the official full release of Phasmophobia, it likely won't be released until later in the year.

According to the Phasmophobia roadmap, the Horror 2.0 update will drop whenever it's ready to go. If the devs do decide to plan ahead, though, I could see it being released in September 2026 to celebrate the six-year anniversary. This update, releasing alongside the game officially exiting early access, seems like the perfect way to commemorate the occasion.

If you want to keep up with when this update might be released, the official Phasmophobia Trello board is the best place to check. The devs have cards up for all planned features, and they're moved around as they get closer to release. As soon as Horror 2.0 enters the closed beta testing column, there won't be long left to wait.

Fantasy Life i magician life

One of Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time's most important mechanics is its Life system. Lives, also known as professions, let you choose classes that help you gather resources, craft objects, and hunt monsters more easily. They all have specialties, and thus, they have their pros and cons.

This begs the question—are some Lives better than others? Which one should you choose first? Let's dive into which Life you should pick first in Fantasy Life i, alongside a complete breakdown of each option and their features.

Best starting life in Fantasy Life i

The best starting life to choose in Fantasy Life i will depend largely on your preferred playstyle. Generally speaking, though, your best bet is to pick a Combat Life to start before diving deeper into Gathering and Crafting Lives.

Most of your playthrough will depend on slaying monsters for resources, gathering materials from the world, and transforming them into refined goods through crafting. Combat Lives are great stepping stones for this, as they'll help introduce you to the game's combat systems and make the main storyline's progression feel more natural before transitioning over to Gathering and Crafting later.

That said, picking Magician, Mercenary, Hunter, or Paladin depends on what attack style you feel more comfortable using. If you like casting spells, Magician will be your go-to choice. Paladin or Mercenary are your best bet if you want to slice and dice your enemies from close range.

You'll eventually unlock every Life throughout Fantasy Life i's story, making your starting one more of an introduction to the mechanic than anything. Nonetheless, let's discuss each Life in detail so you know what to expect before trying it out.

All Fantasy Life i lives explained

Paladin

Fantasy Life i paladin life
Screenshot by Destructoid

Paladin is a standard sword and shield-wielding warrior who protects the innocent and defeats those who threaten the lives of others. If you want to slash enemies while also having a shield as a defensive measure, Paladin is the way to go.

Mercenary

Fantasy Life i mercenary life
Screenshot by Destructoid

Our second melee option is Mercenary, a greatsword-wielding lone wolf that inflicts massive damage to enemies at the cost of slower attack speeds. If you can outmaneuver your enemies and land some hits despite slower movement, the Mercenary may be a fun alternative.

Hunter

Fantasy Life i hunter life
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you prefer long-range attacks, Hunter is your first option to pick. With a bow and arrows in hand, you can easily poison and paralyze your foes, setting up combos for any Paladin, Mercenary, or Magician friends you may have by your side. Since Hunters are weaker defensively than the previous two options, knowing how to avoid attacks is the key to surviving with this Life.

Magician

Fantasy Life i magician life
Screenshot by Destructoid

Our last Combat Life option is Magician. With a wand equipped and long-range elemental abilities at your disposal, your only downside is your lack of defenses that enemies can exploit. Over time, you'll unlock elemental spells that you can swap between depending on an enemy's weaknesses, or utility spells to heal yourself and others.

Miner

Fantasy Life i Miner Life
Screenshot by Destructoid

Miner is our first Gathering Life in this list. If you want to spend more time underground mining for precious minerals than above ground slaying enemies, this is a great option to pick. Miner pairs particularly well with the Blacksmith Life, letting you acquire ores as raw resources before transforming them into weapons and armor later.

Woodcutter

Fantasy Life i Woodcutter life
Screenshot by Destructoid

Chopping down trees is one of the best ways to get into Carpentry so you can make some furniture. If this is your goal, the Woodcutter Life is the option to choose. With an axe in hand and a world full of trees, the Woodcutter's job is to cut down trees, which you can refine later if you combine this with the Carpenter Life.

Angler

Fantasy Life i angler life
Screenshot by Destructoid

Next up is Angler, whose main focus is fishing. Your goal is to fish to your heart's content so you can acquire the rarest fish in the world and eventually transition into Cooking. You'll even get to try out Fantasy Life i's special fishing minigame, which can easily turn into hours of relaxation if you clear your mind and focus on grinding this profession.

Farmer

Farmer is one of two Lives in Fantasy Life i that require advancing through the game's main storyline questline before you can unlock it. You'll gain access to this Life after completing The Polturnip and The Leafe. Once you finish this quest, you can return to the Guild Office to change into the Farmer Life, letting you plant crops and use them in cooking.

Cook

Fantasy Life i cook life
Screenshot by Destructoid

They say the way to someone's heart is through their stomach. By far, the best way to test this is by trying out our first Crafting Life on this list and becoming a Cook. Using resources gathered through farming and fishing, you can make delicious meals that you can sell or eat for stat boosts.

Blacksmith

Fantasy Life i blacksmith life
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Blacksmith is one of the most important Crafting Lives you'll experience in Fantasy Life i. Using the Blacksmith's abilities, you can craft armor, weapons, and tools to help improve your other Lives. If your equipment is old and needs some upgrades, changing into a Blacksmith and using ores you acquire from the Miner Life is the way to go.

Carpenter

Fantasy Life i carpenter life
Screenshot by Destructoid

Remember when I mentioned the Woodcutter's affinity with the Carpentry Life? The Carpenter life is all about making furniture, from chairs and tables to weapons and tools. If you like interior design and want to make any wood-related object, including entire houses, this class is for you.

Tailor

Fantasy Life i tailor life
Screenshot by Destructoid

It's time to get our Fashion Life i side going with the Tailor Life. While many of the Tailor's clothes are purely for fun, fashionable moments, you can also make armor for yourself and others, giving this class some much-needed utility alongside the rest.

Alchemist

Fantasy Life i alchemist life
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Alchemist is an interesting Life, turning various materials you find around the world into potions, flasks, and even bombs you can use in battle. The Alchemist Life is perfect for anyone looking for some chaos.

Artist

The Artist is the second class that requires advancing through Fantasy Life i's main story missions. After completing The Artist's Treasure Hunt during Chapter five, you can head back to the Guild Office to receive an Artist's License, giving you free rein to practice this Life and create some beautiful artwork.

Can you change lives in Fantasy Life i?

Yes, you can change your character's Life shortly after picking your first option. After picking your first option and completing some main story missions and personal quests to familiarize yourself with the mechanic, you'll eventually return to the Guild Office, letting you talk to Auntie Anne to change your Life.

Fantasy Life i change life option
Screenshot by Destructoid

The only requirement you need to acquire a new Life license is reaching Fledgling with your initial class. After reaching Fledging in your starting class and progressing through the main story, return to Auntie Anne to change your Life for no extra cost. From here, you'll need to advance to Fledging to acquire a third Life, and so on.

You can also swap freely between them once you acquire extra licenses from Auntie Anne. You can switch Lives by opening your main menu, picking Life, and choosing whichever options you've unlocked. However, even though it doesn't cost extra money to access them, you will need to complete enough guild quests to Fledging with each Life before receiving a license for a new one. In short, you won't unlock every option in your first hour of playing, but you can obtain them all with enough patience and dedication to questing.

A promo image of Fantasy Life i

Fantasy Life i is a lot of fun playing alone, but it can also be enjoyed with your friends, and you can share the progress with your buddies.

There are different types of multiplayer available with the game, and they unlock at different points. This guide will provide you with all the information required to unlock the ability to play with your friends.

How to access multiplayer in Fantasy Life i

When you start your journey in Fantasy Life i, all forms of multiplayer will be locked. The first form of multiplayer you'll get access to is Couch co-op, which is easy to unlock. This feature gets unlocked in the very first hour of your gameplay, after a cutscene with Edward and Trip.

You'll get a pop-up informing you that Remote Play Together is available. This is the equivalent of the game's couch co-op feature, where your friend can join in as the second player. They will take charge of Trip with the help of a second controller.

The full-fledged online multiplayer gets unlocked during Chapter 3. Once you have gained access to the guild building, it will be constructed at the Base Camp. You'll find NPCs inside the building, who will ask you to invite your friends to play together.

Multiplayer in Fantasy Life i
Screenshot by Destructoid

Is multiplayer worth it in Fantasy Life i

The multiplayer has certain limitations, but it's quite fun. However, you'll be playing casually, whether that's couch co-op or online multiplayer. Whenever you're playing with a friend, all in-game progress will be temporarily stopped. You can neither complete the main story quests with your friends, nor can you report to your Life Masters.

Ideally, multiplayer is best suited for farming resources and crafting items. It's also entertaining to pair up with your friends and defeat enemies together. While the co-op experience has limitations, you can still have entertaining sessions with your friends (as long as you don't mind playing in a non-competitive fashion).

Riding a Napdragon mount in Fantasy Life i

When you're first purchasing Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, you'll have to decide whether to stick with the regular version or purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition. It's a decently costly upgrade, so making this choice can be a bit tricky.

It's a lot easier to make this choice if you know exactly what this version grants you and whether it has any big gameplay effects. If you're stumped by this decision, here's whether or not the Digital Deluxe Edition of Fantasy Life i is worth it.

Is the Digital Deluxe Edition of Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time worth it?

Yuelia outfit in Fantasy Life i
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Digital Deluxe version of Fantasy Life i isn't really worth the price, as nothing it includes is really a must-have. It comes with some fairly cool cosmetics, but nothing that drastically alters your gameplay experience. If you enjoy extra customization and detail, you'll like this pack, but if you're looking for massive gameplay effects, you can easily skip this DLC.

What does the Digital Deluxe Edition of Fantasy Life i include?

The Digital Deluxe Edition of Fantasy Life i comes with three types of items, which are a mount, some weapons, and some clothing items. In total, you unlock 11 unique assets with this upgrade. All of the items you get are as follows.

  • Exclusive Mini Napdragon Mount
  • Exclusive Napdragon Battle Weapons including the Napdragon Sword, Napdragon Claymore, Napdragon Bow, and Napdragon Staff
  • Exclusive Iconic Outfit Pack including:

    • Yuelia's outfit - Ethereal Girl's Dress and Ethereal Girl's Sandals
    • Edward's outfit - Archaeologist's Hat, Archaeologist's Coat, and Archaeologist's Boots
    • Trip's outfit- Trip's Headgear

Digital Deluxe version of Fantasy Life: i
Screenshot by Destructoid

How much does the Digital Deluxe Edition of Fantasy Life i cost?

The price of the Digital Deluxe Edition varies depending on whether you buy it from the start or purchase it after already buying the game. On its own, this DLC costs $13.99, while the version of the game that includes it can be purchased for $69.99, making it slightly discounted at only $10 if you grab it from the start.

Should you get the Digital Deluxe Edition of Fantasy Life i?

Whether or not the Digital Deluxe Edition of Fantasy Life i is worth buying ultimately comes down to personal preference. I don't think it's a must-have pack by any means, but I do enjoy the assets it includes, especially the Napdragon Mount, Yuelia's outfit, and Edward's outfit. There are plenty of other mounts and clothes you can get, though, so these items aren't necessities, just fun add-ons.

All of the items are fun, but not necessary. I'd be fine without them, so it's only worth getting if you're specifically interested in unlocking the exclusive cosmetics it includes. If you're still unsure whether it's worth it, I recommend playing for a bit to see if you enjoy the game before buying the upgrade. If you're having a blast and enjoying everything it offers, you'll like the extra upgrades the Digital Deluxe Edition offers.

Next, you may want to learn how to play with friends using multiplayer in Fantasy Life i.

Roadcraft promotional image

Early in your RoadCraft playthrough, you'll be tasked with connecting a delivery route from your Forward Base to a Phosphate Plant. As you progress further, you'll have to establish multiple routes from various points on the map, all while ensuring they don't collide.

This is understandably tricky to navigate at first, especially if you encounter problems with your route. Here's a complete breakdown of how to plot routes in RoadCraft, including some tips on how to avoid maintenance issues.

How to plot delivery routes in RoadCraft

You'll first plan a route during RoadCraft's first campaign mission, asking you to deliver crane parts from the Forward Base to the Phosphate Plant. In the quest's objective, you'll find a button labeled "Infrastructure: Route," which you can select to unlock your infrastructure menu.

Roadcraft infrastructure route
Screenshot by Destructoid

In this menu, you'll find your active routes and options to plot routes for your current objective. For now, you'll only have one route to plot, but more will arrive in the future. Select this to start creating a route from the Forward Base to the Phosphate Plant.

Starting from the Forward Base, you'll place down small waypoints along the road to the Phosphate Plant. Your goal is to design a path that doesn't collide with obstacles, pass over rough terrain, or have impossible turns for your trucks.

Roadcraft route path
Screenshot by Destructoid

Here are some tips for avoiding or fixing any maintenance problems you may encounter:

  1. Don't create any 90-degree angles in your route. Trucks need wide angles to turn.
  2. Follow road lines as often as possible. If you place your route marker somewhere that's difficult for you to access, the NPC trucks will likely also struggle.
  3. If you encounter a failure message, scroll in to find out what might have caused it. If you see a barrier on the road or rough terrain, edit the marker and move it slightly out of the way, or consider changing your route's path.
  4. Move your vehicles outside of the route's path. Trucks can't drive through your car or cranes.

Roadcraft route failing
Screenshot by Destructoid

You have several options for fixing various route problems. If one of your vehicles is in the way, you can enter it through your map and move it, letting the delivery trucks continue as usual. For other problems, like difficult terrain, scrolling into the map and following tire tracks is usually your safest option. There's also a rare chance that you got your vehicle stuck at some point and need to teleport it elsewhere before continuing.

Later in your playthrough, you may experience problems with two or more routes converging onto each other, which can create some traffic. Oftentimes, you can open other entrances like the Phosphate Plant's southern gate to give alternative paths into a location, making it much easier to plot your route without any unexpected issues.

Completing a route will reward you with an initial EXP and cash prize, with additional rewards available as trucks passively drive along it. That said, any environmental changes that occur throughout your playthrough can impact the path later on, so watch out for any failure messages that unexpectedly appear.

Crane truck in RoadCraft

Loading and transporting cargo is an important task in RoadCraft, but it can be a confusing one for starters.

While you get the chance to carry cargo on your vehicle pretty early in the game, the exact steps aren't explained explicitly. This guide will help you learn the art of loading the cargo on a suitable vehicle before taking it to the correct delivery spot.

How to haul cargo in RoadCraft

Cargo can be anything that needs to be carried over a distance in RoadCraft. This can be steel bars, concrete blocks, or something else. You'll first have to collect these items (you'll have to transfer preloaded piles in some cases) and pile them in the correct locations. Here are all the types of cargo that you'll have to carry in a suitable vehicle.

  • Piles of construction materials that include concrete slabs, pipes, and steel beams. Most of them can be found in mission zones and warehouses.
  • Debris and rubble include plenty of junk items. These items will have to be cleared, and you can then recycle them.
  • Sand and gravel from Quarries are used to improve roads.
  • Logs from forests are then usable as wood.

To haul the cargo, you'll require suitable vehicles for the job.

  • Cranes, which can lift and load heavy objects.
  • Recycling Trucks for collecting and unloading junk debris from/at recycling depots. Flatbeds are also usable if the load is low.
  • Rusty Mulcher for knocking out tree stumps blocking your path.
  • Log Forwarders for hauling and carrying logs from forests.

Crane truck in RoadCraft
Screenshot by Destructoid

The basic formula for hauling cargo is pretty much the same. Go close to the item that you want to carry and then use your mouse controls to pick/carry the selected item to the required spot. If you have to carry it to a different location, the next section has the additional steps.

How to load Cargo in RoadCraft

The first thing to do is to pick up the required item using a crane truck. Make sure to deploy the anchors to ensure the crane truck doesn't move accidentally. Next, adjust the boom and claw with your mouse as required.

After lifting the item, load it into the vehicle bed. If you're using a Log Forwarder, make sure to grab each piece separately to load it on the truck. The same applies to Recycling Trucks, where you'll have to push/scoop the rubble.

Once you've loaded the cargo up, track the destination on the map, and deliver the items. Make sure to position the truck correctly at the drop-off location to deliver the cargo and make progress on your missions.

Ghosts floating in a purple and red sky in Phasmophobia

The game-changing update that's going to completely redesign how Phasmophobia works is officially being developed as of May 21. Horror 2.0 has been teased since 2021, and after quite a lengthy wait, it's finally happening.

The devs shared how the Horror 2.0 update is being conceptualized in a post on X (formerly Twitter). Before today's announcement, this massive overhaul was only in the loosely planned category, but it's now officially being actively developed.

https://twitter.com/PlayPhasmo/status/1925169371233538126

Horror 2.0 is a large overhaul of the "ghost and game mechanics," according to the official Phasmophobia Trello board. This update was first announced in 2021 and was meant to be released a lot sooner, but has been delayed several times.

This update is officially scheduled for sometime in 2026, according to the latest version of the Phasmophobia roadmap. It was originally supposed to launch alongside the official full release of the game, but it's currently unknown whether this is still the plan.

There's a lot to look forward to in the Horror 2.0 update. The main goal of this refresh is to up the scare factor and give the game a more unique feel since many of the current assets are from Unity.

Ghost models, which are the physical appearances of the ghosts you see in contracts, will be overhauled. Most of the current ghost models are from the Zombie collection in the Unity shop, so redesigning them allows the devs to make Phasmophobia's key antagonists more unique.

Key features like ghost hunts, events, and interactions will also look different. It's unclear what types of changes the devs plan to make to them, but both are fundamental in shaping your experience in each round, so all changes made to them will drastically alter gameplay. I expect that we might get more unique events like the burning crucifix at Sunny Meadows Mental Institution or the flying airball. Just more little details here and there that make the game feel more special.

Perhaps the biggest part of this update is the addition of a hallucination system. There's nothing like this in Phasmophobia yet, so it'll be interesting to see how it works and integrates with the rest of the gameplay. I imagine it'll tie in quite closely with the sanity system, so we'll likely see strange occurrences as it drops.

Other details like new death rooms, sound changes, and death animations have also been teased. There's also likely a lot of important details we don't know about this update yet and won't know until it's further along in development, but it seems like the general vision of this update is to make the game a lot scarier and much more detailed overall.

There's no official timeframe as to when this update will become available outside of a scheduled 2026 release. The roadmap says this update, along with a few others, will become available as soon as they're ready, so there's a decent chance it will be a surprise drop. There's plenty to do while we wait, though, like completing weekly challenges and tinkering with the Music Box.

Evie running with Chewbacca in Fortnite

There are many unique NPCs you can find around the island, and all of them are excellent allies for helping you get further in the round in Fortnite. Some of them can be tricky to find, though, as is the case with Chewbacca.

This lovable furry giant can be recruited as an ally, but you first need to know where to find him and what you need to do to get him on your side. He's a fairly easy Wookie to get on your side once you know what needs to be done, so here's where to find Chewbacca in Fortnite.

Where is Chewbacca in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle?

Screenshot by Destructoid

Chewbacca can be found at a randomly chosen Imperial Outpost in each round. His precise location is always marked by a beam of blue smoke you can spot from far away. He's always engaged in battle against Stormtroopers, and the smoke pillar is him calling for help.

Chewbacca location in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle

Chewbacca has three possible spawn locations, all of which are near the western end of the island. The three spots you may find him engaged in battle at are all Imperial Outposts. Their precise locations are as follows.

  • An Imperial Outpost north of Canyon Crossing and south of Crime City
  • An Imperial Outpost southwest of Crime City
  • An Imperial Outpost northwest of Outlaw Oasis

Since Chewbacca always spawns at one of these three locations, it's best to head to the southwest end of the island straight from the battle bus whenever you're searching for him. The only time you'll find him elsewhere is when he's been recruited by other players.

How to recruit Chewbacca in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle

Once you know where Chewbacca is, you can get to work recruiting him by defeating all the Stormtroopers hanging around the Imperial Outpost he's at. On average, there are usually around two to three of these enemies to fight.

Chewbacca lets out a cheerful war cry as soon as all Stormtroopers have been eliminated, then he starts following you around as an officially hired NPC. He fights by your side as long as you're both alive and occasionally drops useful items like shield potions.

Only the first player who saves Chewbacca in each round unlocks him as a companion. This means you generally want to head straight for his location from the battle bus. You can't always see the blue smoke from way up high in the sky, so just gradually glide through the air towards the southwest end of the island until you spot it.

All Imperial Outposts generally have a few chests you can loot, so once you're at one, grab a weapon, then get shooting as soon as possible. Stormtroopers have terrible aim, and they're usually more focused on Chewbacca than you, so you don't need much to take them out. Chewbacca also rewards you with a Legendary Wookiee Bowcaster after you help him out, so you'll get another weapon pretty quickly.

If you're not sure what to do after recruiting Chewbacca, there are plenty of other quests you can tackle around the island. Next, you might complete Jar Jar Binks' story quests, unlock General Grievous, and work on your Alignment.

Retro games are a labor of love, and the communities that keep them alive and continually hope for a new entry in their favorite franchise deserve to be heard.

After all, some retro games warranted a sequel or some kind of treatment for so long that it's tough to know why companies haven't jumped on the bandwagon to take advantage of that heightened nostalgia. We even asked you what retro games you all wanted to see return in some way, and you and others did not disappoint.

https://www.reddit.com/r/retrogaming/comments/1kr1s0d/what_retro_game_series_do_you_want_to_see_return/

Destructoid reached out to multiple communities to see what retro games need either a remake, reboot, or a return, and while a lot of them are fairly standard, we unearthed some gems in the mix. So, in no particular order, here's what you'll want to see return in some form or another.

F-Zero

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3FgtqaKejE&ab_channel=GameSpot

Even though we recently had a spin-off F-Zero title with F-Zero 99, fans are still crying out for more from this legendary series, saying a new F-Zero on modern hardware would be "amazing" and that the community would "love a new F-Zero game proper on Switch 2!"

Megaman Legends

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IccYiIMMhgc&ab_channel=PixelTheater

I can't count how many people specifically wanted Megaman Legends. Not just any old Megaman game, especially a Legends game, with most feeling like the games weren't appreciated enough back in the day. It feels like it would thrive in today's modern hardware with the characters, lore, and world all being so cool and charming that most other Megaman games can only hope to achieve.

Crimson Skies

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtSMoGF7aS8&ab_channel=FS2004ACoF

I need to come clean here, Destructoid. I have no idea what this game is, but a lot of people were calling for it, saying it was "a great concept: a mix of Indiana Jones like aesthetic, Tailspin like world building, Rouge Squadron like controls!"

Feels like I missed out on a banger.

Viewtiful Joe

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMkJZqVnx0s&ab_channel=MataCarl

Considering Capcom missed the game's 20th anniversary and didn't even give us a digital release or pack the two games in one. Viewtiful Joe is a beloved classic franchise and as one person put it, its a "damn shame" that we haven't gotten anything since, other than an singular appearance from the main character in a Marvel vs. Capcom game.

Castlevania

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EN7W3-_uTQY&ab_channel=gamingbits

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night may have scratched the itch, but the retro family is crying out for more, especially after the wildly successful Netflix Castlevania shows. Most people who commented about it said it was "way overdue," and a sentiment we definitely agree with. Stop holding out on us, Konami!

Startropics

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QW_bKv_QPNY&ab_channel=buphelow

"STARTROPICS!!!"

Banjo Kazooie

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWrWuXE6RHw

The bear and bird need to come back, and it is one I share with a lot of you. A lot of folks, including myself, want a full remake of the original two games or an actual Banjo-Threeie. None of this Nuts and Bolts crap, a true flue blooded collectathon 3D platformer.

Mother/Earthbound

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGOEMCG2Ll4&ab_channel=NintendoofAmerica

For whatever reason, Nintendo seems hesitant to give us anything Earthbound for years now. I can't really sum up the comments more than the classic comment that has become a staple meme in the community.

So, give us Mother 3 in the west at least!!!

I'm aware I had to leave out a lot of other comments and requests that fans have been pining for, so let us know in the comments a retro game that wasn't included that you'd like to see get a remake, reboot, or a new game in the series!

Two Rainbow friends are coming out of the garage and the title is on top and bottom of the screen

Rainbow Friends Chapter 2 is out, and it's time to survive the onslaught of colorful monsters... again. While you're running away for your dear life, you may be confused about what you should be doing. To help you out, we made this Rainbow Friends Chapter 2 Walkthrough.

Rainbow Friends General Tips

If you're new to the game, here are a few tips that could save your life.

Tip #1 - You can outrun the monsters

Even though it doesn't always work, generally, you can get away from the monsters just by running in the opposite direction. They will chase you, but as soon as you get too far or break line of sight, they will stop. Just try not to panic, and you should be fine.

Tip #2 - Ladders and holes are your friends

A Rainbow Friends player is hiding inside a small hut
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you're running away from a monster, go for a ladder to escape. No ladder in sight? Find a hole you can crawl into. We can't even begin to tell you how often the Bouncy Castle saved us. Speaking of that, boarding the Ferris Wheel is also a good way to escape. In short, any place where you need to crouch or climb to get to is a good place to escape your pursuers.

Tip #3 - If there's nowhere to hide, use your box

A Rainbow Friends player is hiding in a box in front of a monster
Screenshot by Destructoid

When there's nowhere to hide, your box is there to save you, but you need to know how to use it. If you pull out the box while Blue is chasing you, he's just going to flip the box over and catch you anyway. So, be smart about it. If you see a monster approaching with no way to hide, use the box, don't move, and let it pass. If a monster is chasing you, break line of sight first, and then hide inside the box. Solid Snake approved!

Tip #4 - Don't follow your teammates

Even though you are working as a team, there's no reason to follow your teammates. They can't save you, and they can't revive you. So, it's usually a good idea to just go out on your own and hope your teammates won't die out there.

Rainbow Friends Walkthrough

Here's how to survive each section of Chapter 2.

Part 1 - Find 25 Lightbulbs

A Rainbow Friends player is looking at the spotlight
Screenshot by Destructoid

In this first round, you need to run around the park and collect yellow and blue lightbulbs. You can carry a couple of them at once. The lightbulbs aren't hidden very well, and you'll find most of them out in the open. Once you have a few, bring them back to the Laser Tag plaza and put them in the big reflector light. As for the monsters, you'll only have Blue and Green chasing you, and they should be pretty easy to avoid.

Even though this round is relatively easy, you should expect to see a lot of players drop out of the game. The more that make it to the next round (and the following rounds), the easier it will be for you.

Part 2 - Find 15 Gas Canisters

A Rainbow Friends player is looking at Gas Canisters
Screenshot by Destructoid

This is very similar to the first round, except most of the Gas Canisters are going to be hidden indoors. So check inside offices and ride attractions to find them. Just like in the first rounds, bring the Gas Canisters back to the Laser Tag Plaza. This time, you can only carry one at a time.

A Rainbow Friends player is being held by Yellow up in the air
Screenshot by Destructoid

As for the monsters, Yellow will spawn in this round (the pterodactyl monster). Yellow is a little faster than other monsters, but if it catches you, you can actually survive. If Yellow catches you, it will fly you high in the air, and if you struggle and fall, you'll die from fall damage. This means that you should only do this if you are above the bouncy castle, and that's pretty easy to do, actually.

Other than that, you'll likely have fewer players in this round, so definitely try to gather as many Gas Canisters as you can while avoiding the monsters.

Part 3 - Find 10 Lookies

A Rainbow Friends player is holding a Lookie
Screenshot by Destructoid

Lookies are little colorful balls that roll around the park. You can only carry one at a time, and if you use a Box, you'll lose it. Half of the Lookies are in the park, around the river, and the other half is in the Go Kart area.

Cyan will spawn in this round, but fortunately, he is the same as Blue and Green, so other than the park getting a bit cramped with monsters, it's still relatively easy to avoid them, as long as you hide correctly.

Again, you'll likely have fewer players (we usually have around 4-5 at this round), so try to contribute as much as you can when collecting Lookies.

Part 4 - Find 9 Sugar Packs

A Rainbow Friends player is holding a Sugar Pack
Screenshot by Destructoid

Final difficult part. You need to get Sugar Packs. These things are usually hidden inside buildings. Again, you can only carry one, and you need to bring it to the Laser Tag plaza. No new monsters will spawn in this round, but you'll likely have the last amount of players by this round (there were only two of us during this last round).

Use the same tactics to hide and escape, and you should be fine too, even if there's very few players.

Part 5 - Mine Cart Ride

A Rainbow Friends player is riding a minecart
Screenshot by Destructoid

The sugar you gathered in the last round is going to lure the giant Blue ball away from the Crystal Caverns. When you gain back control of your character, head inside and sit in one of the Mine Carts.

The first time we did this, we were expecting a long Donkey Kong Country style mine cart mini-game but boy were we wrong. This was really easy. All you need to do is enjoy the ride and occasionally tilt the cart to one or the other side. If that wasn't enough, you even get a guide kart (filled with Lookies) which pretty much tells you where you need to go. Finish the mine cart and get ready for the final part.

Part 6 - Escape the Park

Once you get out of the kart, Cyan will spawn and start chasing you. Just run towards the exit. The path is very straightforward, and you won't need to do anything special except crouch to get under small gaps. Once you make it through the metal bars, you're done. Congrats, you finished Chapter 2. Now, are you ready to do it again, even faster?

That's all there is to it. Have fun surviving in Rainbow Friends Chapter 2. If you need a different type of coop game, check out Dead Spells.
