Monster Hunter Rise Buddy Guide
Buddies are an exciting new feature introduced with MH Rise. This Monster Hunter Rise Buddy Guide will explain the basic of the Buddy system including everything from equipping your buddies with new abilities, to mounts, and leveling up for additional rewards and features.
There are two types of Buddies in MH Rise, Palicoes and Palamutes. Palicoes are cat like creatures, long famous as companions in Monster Hunter games. Palamutes are dog-like creatures that you can mount, with some awesome features. All Buddies gain experience points as you progress and play, increasing their level and stats as they earn additional experience points. You can visit your house in the village to change their equipment, appearance options, and scrolls.
Monster Hunter Rise Buddy Guide
Scrolls are special items received from quests that, when equipped, provide your Buddy with additional combat options such as improving existing attacks or adding new abilities. You can also change the behavior of your buddies in your house. For example, you can choose for your buddies to focus on smaller enemies before attacking the main monster, decreasing the chance some pesky wildlife will knock you down or hit you with a negative status effect.
Once you reach Hunter Rank 2, you unlock the Dojo in your house, this allows you to level your buddies much faster. You can only take two buddies with you at any time, so having additional buddies in training is a great way of covering your bases.
You can also use Meowcenaries in the buddy area, again at Hunter Rank 2. This lets you send buddies off on mini-adventures in return for goods and supplies. Finally, also from Hunter Rank 2, you can speak with the Argosy and send a Buddy out to find very specific items for you. in a submarine.
- Make sure to check the Buddy list often for higher level buddies
- An idle buddy is a bad buddy. Make sure you are either training them or sending them off
- The Argosy and Meowcenaries is a great way of obtaining specific and valuable loot
- Use the Dojo to increase buddies level much quicker if they are not with your current party

Does Monster Hunter Rise Have An SOS Flare?
If you're struggling in MH games, the SOS Flare is usually a quick solution but one question many players are asking is, Does Monster Hunter Rise Have An SOS Flare? And if it doesn't, how are you able to call for help from other players when you're struggling.
If you're not in a party and you've already joined a quest and found it too difficult, is there an option to fire an SOS flare? Not like previous Monster Hunter games, no. The party system is a little different in Monster Hunter Rise. Some quests are solo only, not allowing you to summon reinforcements, but some other quests do support full co-op and multiplayer. So how do you call in randoms to help you in a fight?
Does Monster Hunter Rise Have An SOS Flare?
You need to press the + button and navigate to the second tab, under quests. Here you will see an option titled Join Request. This sends a request to other players for them to join via the board inside the gathering hub. There are two main options here. If the Join Request button is black or darkened out you are either in a multiplayer lobby with a password, you are currently offline, or the quest you are on doesn't allow you to summon other players.
Urgent quests taken from the village appear to be exclusively single player, as do most of the hunts there. So if you've taken a quest from outside in the village, it's likely you will have to solo the entire quest. On the opposite side, all quests taken within the gathering hub are multiplayer, you can select Join Request to summon allies.
- There is no SOS Flare in Monster Hunter Rise but there is a similar feature, Join Request
- Press the Plus button to open the menu and go to the quests tab
- Select Join Request to summon other players
- If the option is unavailable you are either offline, in a lobby with a password, or on a single player quest
- Most quests taken in the village are single player
- Most quests taken in the hub are multiplayer

How To Mount In Monster Hunter Rise
Palamute's are dog-like creatures that you can mount in MH Rise. This guide on How To Mount In Monster Hunter Rise will explain how you mount this marvelous beast, how you can summon it if it gets lost, and the huge benefits available from using your Palamute mount when exploring in MH Rise.
Palamute's are one of two buddy types available in Monster Hunter Rise, but they are the only Buddy that you can mount. Having the option to traverse maps on mounts makes exploring and chasing down enemy monsters far quicker. Palamute's can jump, they can climb vertical surfaces covered in vines, and they can interact as you normally would on foot
How To Mount In Monster Hunter Rise
There are two main methods to mount your Palamute. When you are standing in close proximity, make sure your weapon is away. You can then hold the A button for a few seconds and it will mount the Palamute. If you're in combat or the Palamute is off chasing something, you need to use the other option.
Hold L to bring up the primary Shortcut Wheel. By default, the mount option is selected as down. So hold L, flick down, and release. This will summon the Palamute to your location. If it's already very close, it will run over. If it's further away, it will dig out of the ground and appear at your feet. You don't need to hold A to mount here. Once the Palamute is in range, you will automatically mount it and can begin riding
- Hold A when in close proximity to mount your Palamute
- Use the down option on the Shortcut Wheel to summon the Palamute to your side and automatically mount it
- Palamutes can climb vines vertically much quicker than you can climb
- You can interact with ore nodes, berries and other items while mounted
- You can also heal, sharpen your blade, and use other consumables while you're riding

Monster Hunter Rise Bunny Dango Food Guide
Bunny Dango is a new food mechanic in MH Rise that players can eat for buffs. This Monster Hunter Rise Bunny Dango Food Guide explains the basics mechanics of the different food items available, giving players the choice of combining various dango's to offer different buffs depending on the upcoming quest.
Before you go into a quest, it's vital that you eat at a Canteen. There is one in the village and there is one inside the central hub – small tables surrounded by stalls to sit on. As you approach, you can interact with the Canteen and then choose what items to eat. Food provides a lot of buffs and all food boosts your health and stamina, so it's incredibly important to stay full. If you do forget, you can also access the same food menu from inside the tent at the start of every quest.
Monster Hunter Rise Bunny Dango Food Guide
When you open the Bunny Dango menu, you're greeted with a selection of ingredients. The order in which you apply the ingredients doesn't matter. The success rate of applying the buffs remain the same. There are some universal buffs, buffs that work for pretty much anything, but others are more specific.
- Powerful Flavors focus on increasing attack and other offensive based stats
- Determined Flavors are centered around increasingly survivability such as health and healing
- Unusual Flavors focus on utility buffs such as increased sharpening speed, higher knockdown resistance, etc.
- Grandiose Flavors are typically for gathering. Increasing the rate at which you obtain certain items and rewards
Throwing up some Grandiose Flavors before gathering honey, iron ore, and other valuables, is a great way of boosting productivity. Likewise with the Powerful Flavors, if you're hunting down monsters. As you increase in Hunter Rank both the potency of current ingredients and the amount of ingredients increases, opening more options and more buffs later in the game.

How To Eat In Monster Hunter Rise
Food buffs are vital for survival in MH Rise. This guide on How To Eat In Monster Hunter Rise explains where you can eat food so that you can buff vital stats such as your health and stamina, both of which can be buffed greatly past their initial limits.
Food has always been a central part of the Monster Hunter experience, and that trend continues in Monster Hunter Rise. Players can combine ingredients, make dishes, and reap a huge variety of different perks, buffs, and bonuses. All food buffs health and stamina but each item consumed also has other beneficial effects. This can increase attack damage, speed up the sharpening of your weapon, there's a huge selection on offer. This allows players to cater the buffs towards specific goals and objectives within quests. As such, eating is a vital part of progressing through the game and is almost required in the latter stages.
How To Eat In Monster Hunter Rise
There are three main ways to eat. Firstly the Canteen and the Tent. In the village and in the hub, you will find some tables and some nearby chairs. This is the Canteen. There is also an option to eat inside the tent at the beginning of each level. When you choose to eat, you pick your ingredients, combine them, and then consume the dish. This is what provides the biggest buffs before going into a quest. Be sure to eat before every quest as the duration doesn't last that long.
The other method of eating is during a quest. If you die, or over time, the food buffs to your stamina and health will vanish, leaving you with far less health and stamina. At this point you can consume other food, such as Steak or Ratios, to bring a small amount of the bonuses back.
- There are three main areas in which you can eat food
- You can eat during quests by consuming ratios, steak, and other items
- You can also eat food at your tent, before you start venturing into quest areas
- You can eat at a canteen in the village and inside the hub
- Make sure to renew your buffs from food between every quest

Where To Find Firelanterns In Monster Hunter Rise
One of the earlier quests is to hunt down Firelanterns. This Where To Find Firelanterns In Monster Hunter Rise guide will tell you how to track down these unique and special items as there's a number of mechanics that are unfamiliar for players not used to the Monster Hunter games.
Firelanterns are a unique item, special only for this mission. Monster Hunter Rise uses this mechanic a lot throughout the game. While you can collect the special item during a particular mission, it's handed in upon mission completion and serves no other purpose. For this particular guide, we're focusing on the early objective of Firelanterns to introduce players to the different systems involved.
Where To Find Firelanterns In Monster Hunter Rise
When you load in you will notice green icons all over your map. These are possible locations of an item called Unique Item: Shimmering Red Berry. When gathered, these special items will convert into Firelanterns, allowing you to find all 8 and complete the objective so you can finish the quest.
Not all areas marked by a green icon will include a Unique Item: Shimmering Red Berry but they do respawn after a few minutes once collected. The majority of the Firelanterns are high up, meaning you'll need to use the Wirebug to traverse mountains, cliffs, and heals to be able to reach the top and find the Firelanters.

Where To Get Flame Sacs In Monster Hunter Rise
You will need to find quite a few flame sacs in Monster Hunter Rise if you want to build powerful fire weapons. Check out this guide to find out where to get flame sacs in Monster Hunter Rise. This way you can get your armor and weapons upgraded even quicker and move onto bigger hunts.
Where To Get Flame Sacs In Monster Hunter Rise
To get flame sacs, you will have to hunt the Aknosom, which is a Rank one star quest. The trick is that you need to progress to the next tier of weapons to get them to drop. So you will need to have the two star quests unlocked even though you are doing a one star quest for the flame sacs. I had to kill it twice, but the second time I got five flam sacs from the mission.
This enemy is somewhat annoying because it can fly and it likes to run. If you can bring some traps to help keep it down those will make things go a bit smoother. It is a fire monster so don't bring fire weapons and bring fire armor if you can. The mission is fairly easy so there isn't much reason not to play co-op to get some extra damage going on. After you get the flame sacs you can go to the smithy and start making some near gear. Don't forget that you can upgrade your buddies gear as well.

Where To Find Icium In Monster Hunter Rise
Icium is one of the materials you will need to get ice weapons in Monster Hunter Rise. Check out this guide to find out where to find Icium in Monster Hunter Rise. This way you aren't searching all over the map looking for that one specific node.
Where To Find Icium In Monster Hunter Rise
To find Icium you will have to go to the Frost Islands. You can go on an expedition or take a mission on and look while you hunt. There are many nodes to be found here, but Icium isn't in all of them. The normal nodes will give mostly Iron and Earth Crystals here so we are looking for the Ice Nodes. Still, you can search this one here and see if you get lucky.
There is an ore vein down near two that might have some Icium. Head up here next.
11 is another cave but this one has some Icium Ore pressed up against the cave wall. Travel though until you find it and you will get a decent amount. I normally get 4-6 per mining session. Now head over here and we will have to do some climbing.
Head to this area on the map and use your Wirebug to climb up to the Tori gate in the area. Jump off to the west (left side of the map) and you want to start climbing up on foot. Wrap around the big mountain and you will find a Wirebug you can take. Use that and follow the path to the end to get some more Icium near the ledge. There is also a lizard here that can drop some Icium if you kill it.
If you need more then that you will have to leave the mission and come back. Check back soon for more Monster Hunter Rise Guides.
