Forza Motorsport 8 Developer Confirms Feedback Playtests With Application Now Open

forza motorsport xbox series x

The Forza series continues to be one of Microsoft's most popular series, as seen from the continued success of Forza Horizon 4. But one can't forget its sister series, Motorsport. The eighth entry in the series was announced last year in a Xbox Games Showcase. While there's still no word on when we can expect the game, it does seem some lucky players will get a chance to try out an early version of it.

In a video published on the official Forza Motorsport Twitter, Creative Director Chris Esaki revealed that a new feedback-based playtest could be applied for now. It's part of a new initiative by developer Turn 10 to get as much feedback from the community as possible. Though who apply can potentially get into an early version of the game and offer various degrees of feedback. You can apply through the link here.

As of now, Forza Motorsport 8 has been announced for the Xbox Series X/S and PC. It's unclear if the game is also in development for Xbox One. All of the information we know about the game can be read through here.

Embracer Group And Gearbox Entertainment Complete Merger

Gearbox - Embracer Group

It's fair to say the gaming industry is in a big state of change right now, and one of the biggest ways to see that is through the many acquisitions and mergers we've seen in just a brief period of time. One of the biggest has been Microsoft, who have been acquiring studios left and right. But right behind them is Embracer Group, who announced they would merge together earlier in the year (and allegedly right before Microsoft bought Gearbox themselves). Well, it's now official.

In a joint press release from the two entities, it was confirmed that the merger, said to be worth $1.3 billion, has gone through. Gearbox will now join the ranks of many other publishers such as THQ Nordic and Deep Silver and numerous studios and developers the company have acquired, with the most recent ones being Aspyr Media and Tarsier Studios.

Despite the acquisition, it's been said that 2K Games would continue publishing the Borderlands franchise as well as other Gearbox projects. Presumably, much like the other publishers and developers mentioned, there won't be a lot of noticeable changes to how they operate to day to day consumers.

MLB The Show 21 Coming To Xbox Game Pass Was MLB's Decision

MLB The Show 21_03

This year's MLB The Show will be the same franchise baseball fans have come to know and love, but there are some big differences outside the game itself. At one point, the biggest one was that the game would be coming to current and next gen Xbox systems, but another bombshell was that it would also come to Xbox Game Pass day and date on launch. It was a surprising thing, for sure, even more so than the license coming to Xbox. It also seems, perhaps unsurprisingly, it was a call from the licensee.

As reported by Inverse, a PlayStation representative confirmed that the decision to put the game on Xbox Game Pass came down from the MLB. According to them, the organization felt with Game Pass, it would widen the audience and potential appeal of the game. It probably isn't a shocker, but there it is.

"As part of the goal for this year's game, MLB decided to bring the franchise to more players and baseball fans. This decision provides a unique opportunity to further establish MLB The Show as the premier brand for baseball video games."

MLB The Show 21 will release on April 20th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. It will also release on Xbox Game Pass on that date on Xbox systems.

Baldur's Gate 3 Still Needs "Quite Some Work" Before Getting Out Of Early Access

Baldur's Gate 3_02

One of the most anticipated games coming down the pipeline is Baldur's Gate 3. The game can be accessed, though, with a current early access version, which has already done quite a lot of sales all by itself. The question, though, is when can we expect that 1.0 launch. Well, developer Larian Studios doesn't have a specific answer, but seems as if it could still be a good while.

Speaking to Destructoid, Larian CEO Swen Vincke was asked about when we could realistically expect the official launch. He remained noncommittal, as one probably would expect, but did say there was a lot of work left to do. The game has gotten a good deal of updates since its initial early access launch, but a lot of things still need to be done.

"So we still have quite some work ahead of us," he said. "But we do know what we're making and when we're going to be… we'll know when we're at the end, so it is visible. It's just still a lot of work."

Baldur's Gate 3 is available in early access for PC and Stadia. As of now, there is no date or timeframe for when the 1.0 version will release.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition – Reticle Bloom, Aim Assist and XP Changes Revealed for Mass Effect 1

Mass Effect Legendary Edition (4)

Along with a new video showcasing performance and details on Mass Effect 3's Galactic Readiness, BioWare also revealed changes coming to Mass Effect 1's combat for the Legendary Edition. First up is the ability for Shepard to sprint out of combat. Melee attacks are now a single button press instead of just happening when close to an enemy.

In addition to weapon accuracy and handling being improved, reticle bloom is now more controlled. Aim assist for target acquisition has also been improved while weapon sway is gone from sniper rifle. Another nice change is the ability to acquire ammo mods through the entire game, including from merchants. And though weapons rely on heat cooldown, the process is now much faster.

XP has also also been rebalanced especially as players approach the end with players able to get to higher levels in a single playthrough when completing most content. There's also no level cap for the first playthrough, which is nice. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is out on May 14th for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition – Mass Effect 3's Galaxy at War Changes Detailed

Mass Effect Legendary Edition (1)

BioWare has lots of information to share on Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, aside from a new video which compares the performance of the remasters with the original trilogy. In a new PlayStation Blog post, community manager Jay Ingram outlines changes to several systems including the Galaxy at War mechanic in Mass Effect 3. In the third game, completing different activities and acquiring different assets was key to preparing for the fight against the Reapers.

However, you also had to engage in multiplayer for the Galactic Readiness rating (failure to do so would increase the availability of total forces). With multiplayer removed in the Legendary Edition, Galactic Readiness no longer depends on outside factors. But you'll now have to complete more content throughout the trilogy to be prepared for the final battle.

Of course, as Ingram reveals, "If you only play Mass Effect 3, you'll have to do just about every option available in the game to be eligible for an ending that doesn't result in massive galactic losses." However, to reliably achieve good results, playing the first two games and then carrying over progress is the best option. It was noted, however, that even with the Extended Cut – whose ending is the default conclusion – and its Galactic Readiness rebalancing, "fully preparing for the final fight will be more difficult to achieve in the Legendary Edition."

Thankfully, numerous bugs have been fixed and improvements made to Mass Effect 2's Paragon/Renegade system, which should lead to better results in the third game's finale. "We resolved some legacy issues that inhibited accurate reputation stats from being displayed and outright prevented certain dialogue options from being selectable when they should have been. Because of this, key moments that have been notoriously difficult to achieve in ME2 (and impacted ME3) can now be completed more reliably, leading to better results in the story's final act."

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is out on May 14th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Video Highlights Improvements Over Original Trilogy

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

With a little over a month to go before Mass Effect: Legendary Edition's release, IGN has a new preview up showcasing the improvements and differences from the original trilogy. Mass Effect 1 is perhaps the most interesting to observe – in terms of weapons, there are no restrictions and players can use whatever they'd like. Weapons will still use heat cooldown instead of thermal clips though.

The graphical improvements are similarly impressive with AI upscaling having been used for the textures and the Female Shepard model (based on Mass Effect 3) looking good. Massive improvements to the lighting and environmental detail can also be seen. One interesting change is the camera placement, which is now closer to characters as they venture down hallways and elevators.

It's worth watching the entire video to see the improvements made to Mass Effect 2 and 3 as well, though their graphical updates are not quite as significant as Mass Effect 1. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is out on May 14th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC with support for Xbox Series X and PS5.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War – PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Patch Boosts Frame Rate and Resolution

Zombie Army 4 Dead War_07

Zombie Army 4: Dead War might not be the most high-profile shooter out there, but Rebellion's co-op zombie shooter is a solid game, one that knows exactly what it is and embraces that fully. It's been getting pretty good post-launch support since it launched over a year ago, and now, with the game's latest update, Rebellion have added enhancements to the game to leverage the more powerful hardware of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

On PS5, the game now runs at a dynamic 4K resolution at 60 FPS, and boasts faster load times. On Xbox Series X, the update adds two modes to the game- performance mode allows for 1080p at 120 FPS, while quality mode will give you dynamic 4K at 60 FPS, with improved load times across both modes. On Xbox Series S, meanwhile, the game runs at 1080p at 60 FPS, and, once again, has better load times.

The PS5 patch doesn't add a performance mode, unlike the Xbox Series X patch. The PlayStation patch is available now, while the Xbox patch will be going live on April 8.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. The game will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass for console, PC, and cloud on April 8. For more on the game, make sure to check out our review for it through here.
