Video game companies are notoriously cagey about sharing their plans. In a market saturated with sequels and spin-offs, developers nevertheless treat every new project with extreme secrecy.      Nvidia wants to scale back RTX 4000 GPU chips, but can't

You might've noticed that it was pretty difficult to get hold of an Nvidia GPU over the past couple of years, mainly because graphics card manufacturers struggled to keep up with demand. Now that cryptocurrencies have lost much of their value and second-hand components are flooding the market, Nvidia needs to reduce the amount of 5nm chips it's ordered from TSMC ahead of the RTX 4000 series to avoid the opposite issue.

There's no pastime humans have yet to convert into a sporting event of some sort, and Blizzard's long-running MMO game, World of Warcraft, is no exception. The premier events in the WoW esports calendar, Mythic Dungeon and Arena, are reaching their finales within weeks. The Mythic Dungeon International (MDI) holds its finals on the 8th and 9th of July, and the Arena World Championship (AWC) host theirs on the 16th and 17th. It's not all just about passive viewing, though.

Fan's Lego Terraria set achieves support goal on Lego Ideas

Lego projects are a common way for fans to express their love for a series, and now one person's Lego Terraria set is being considered for official production after receiving the requisite support through the Lego Ideas program. While other projects such as a Lego Minecraft stop motion short and a custom Lego gaming PC might be one-off builds, this take on the 2D crafting game could now become a commercially available set - if it is approved.

JaoGosma's 1,970 piece Terraria Lego idea, which was initially submitted to the program on Jan 28, has now reached the 10,000 supporters mark which makes it eligible for expert review. If it is approved, Lego set designers will adapt the design into an official model, which will then be released under the Lego Ideas name. Were this to happen, project creator JaoGosma would be eligible for a 1% royalty of the net sales.

While this set is based on a licensed property, that is fair game for applications to Lego ideas - as long as the IP in question is not already in a partnership with Lego, or considered to feature subject matter deemed too 'inappropriate' for younger Lego fans. Some of the other approved ideas in the past include designs based on Ghostbusters and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Awegite locations and how to get more

Want to know the easiest way to farm Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Awegite? In a few maps in the RPG game's expansion, you can mine this mineral at specific points. Once you find one of these black veins, interact with it to grab up to three precious metals you can then use to craft new gear.

The easiest way to get lots of Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Awegite is to head into a Master Rank expedition tour in the Shrine Ruins. To do this, go to Princess Chichae - the quest handler in Sunbreak - and select Master Rank. Here you can see the option to go on an expedition tour in green, which, unlike regular hunts, has no time limit. We recommend the Shrine Ruins map for your resource-gathering trip as it's the place hunters will be most familiar with, and you can also hunt some Kelbi to grab a Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak prized pelt.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak prized pelt location and how to get more

Do you need to find a Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak prized pelt to complete your build? The expansion brings many new Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak monsters to the RPG game. It also brings new Master Rank hunts that give all existing monsters new moves and adds new tiers of armour and weapons, which you can craft with items salvaged from your defeated enemies.

These changes are not just for the larger wyvern-like monsters but also smaller critters running around each map. For example, one of the most coveted items is the Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak prized pelt, which, like Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Awegite, is essential for making some of the best equipment. In order to farm for these precious items, we recommend you go off on a Master Rank expedition tour when choosing a hunt via any quest handler. These expeditions allow you to keep hunting for specific small monsters, which will respawn after a short time, until you've filled your item slots with as many as you need.

Next Vampire Survivors update 0.8.0 adds new relic mechanic

Developer Poncle has outlined its initial patch notes for Vampire Survivors update 0.8.0, which is currently scheduled to release on July 7. The next update will include a new version of the vampire game's fifth stage and the final relic that was planned in the game's initial roadmap, which introduces a new gameplay mechanic.

In its initial roadmap for the roguelike game, Poncle said it had five relics in mind - these are pickups that, once collected, add a permanent new feature to all future runs. The first of these is the Milky Way Map, which activates the game's map in the pause menu once collected. There have actually been more than five relics added already, but this next one is the final one that was part of Poncle's original plan for the game, and is said to add a new gameplay mechanic - which should help freshen things up if you're running out of ways to spice up your best Vampire Survivors builds.

The update also teases a "new version of stage five," which says it will revert to the previous version once successfully completed, and will also add one new arcana (of the remaining six planned in the roadmap). Furthermore, another minor relic is being added that will function as a compendium of sorts, offering players a way to view enemy data from the main menu.

FFXIV Island Sanctuary gives fans an Animal Crossing getaway

Critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is many things to many people, and now players can escape to their own Animal Crossing style island getaway with the upcoming FFXIV Island Sanctuary, which was detailed in Live Letter 71. In addition, game director Naoki Yoshida and community producer Toshio Murouchi expanded on much of the upcoming content players can expect with FFXIV patch 6.2, which is scheduled for late August.

Island Sanctuary is an individual island that each player gets for themselves. It is handled largely separately from the rest of the game, with its own materials, currencies, and inventory which are all handled independently so as not to clutter up players' normal inventories. You can grow crops, cultivate seeds, care for creatures, and develop and decorate your island to your heart's content. Each island is unique to you and the progression is designed for solo play, but players will be able to invite friends and free company members to visit their islands.

Yoshi-P emphasises that the islands are quite large - pointing to a tiny dot just visible on a wide overhead shot that he says is a Roegadyn, as an example of their scale. Island Sanctuary is expected to arrive with update 6.25, so won't be here for August's patch, but it should give players a whole new way to spend their time in Eorzea. We may not have Animal Crossing on PC, but this certainly feels like a good alternative.

Fortnite's overshield could be getting a buff

Fortnite's overshield gives you a nice buffer, and essentially acts as an extra 50 hit points that recharge as long as you're not in the midst of a firefight with other players, or someone like Darth Vader. Others might see it as kind of a drag, turning your opponents into bullet sponges, and making sniping almost worthless. But whether you love it or loathe it, it turns out the overshield could be getting stronger, thanks to a new buff potentially being added by Epic.

The new pre-release Minecraft update helps detect server tomfoolery

Minecraft goes through updates like most of us go through those Tupperware boxes you get when you order takeaway food. We only received The Wild 1.19 update last month, and yet we're still getting glimpses of upcoming changes to the 1.19.1 version of the game thanks to pre-releases and snapshots. The latest such Minecraft update is now upon us, and it brings some peculiar changes to the crafting game's chat.

Now, you'll likely already know about the chat reporting functions Mojang will be adding to Minecraft, especially as a fair few people are concerned about them, although Mojang has put out a post regarding some of the questions around them. The Minecraft 1.19.1 pre-release 2 brings with it chat trust status, which basically tells players whether or not a server is tampering with players' messages.

This should allow players to feel more comfortable regarding the moderation tools, but it's not going to solve issues regarding privacy that some people have. It'll work by using a mix of coloured indications and icons to display the status of a message, whether that means it's not secure, modified, or perfectly fine.

     Raft Varuna Point walkthrough

Our Raft Varuna Point walkthrough takes you through the sixth story location in this open-water survival game. Varuna Point consists of two half-sunken tower ruins plus a massive crane, but since you'll be spending most of your time underwater, it's best to visit this island equipped with an Oxygen Bottle, a pair of Flippers, and some Spicy Pineberry drinks, courtesy of a Raft juicer.

Another essential item in this Raft Varuna Point walkthrough is the Zipline Tool, but you can leave it on the raft until you've completed the underwater part of this island. Finally, since Varuna Point is home to a rather aggressive Rhino Shark and a bunch of Anglerfishes, there's no such thing as bringing too much Healing Salve.

There's no rule, but I try to cover things here that haven't already been poached by, for example, Graham last year. Sanabi is far too good to overlook, though.

I've nothing against 2D platformers, but to stand out in such a saturated genre you really need to capture something special. Wonder Potion have more or less nailed both the tricky but rewarding platforming, grappling, and baddie smacking parts of their formula, and perhaps more impressively, the story parts as well. This is a game with character, and the storytelling chops to make the most of its relatively simple ideas.

I'm contractually obligated to inform you of the best early Prime Day deals on PC gaming hardware, even though Prime Day 2022 isn't until July 12th. Aaaaand then continues over until June 13th. Jeff, lad, that's two Prime Days. Regardless, Amazon's Prime Day landing page is already a gateway into some decent discounts on peripherals, SSDs, gaming monitors and the like, so take a look if you're of a more urgent mind. Unlike the bulk of actual Prime Day deals, the ones you'll find listed here don't even need an Amazon Prime account to access.

Previous Prime Days have driven competing retailers to knock down some of their own prices, and this year looks to be no different, so I've included some good sales from non-Amazon retailers as well. For the 12th and 13th we'll also post a full anti-Prime Day deals guide (like last year's), so you can still make some savings even if you're avoiding Amazon specifically.

The arrival of Monster Hunter Rise's Sunbreak expansion has brought a swathe of quality of life improvements to Capcom's beast-bashing action game, including support for Nvidia's performance-boosting DLSS tech. Announced earlier this week as part of the game's 10.0.2 patch notes, enabling DLSS does bring some welcome frame rate improvements to proceedings, but it also, err... has the rather unexpected side effect of shaving off everyone's hair / fur. And in a game about felling all manner of feathery, scaly lizard animals, that's not exactly ideal.

Yurukill

When is a murder mystery game not a murder mystery game? When it's a combination murder mystery/shoot 'em up! Just as the "Yurukill" in the title Yurukill: The Calumniation Games is a portmanteau of the Japanese "Yurusu" (to pardon or forgive) and the English "Kill," the game itself is a combo of two seemingly incompatible genres. It is a puzzle-solving adventure and a flashy scrolling shooter. The result works far better than one might think at first.

Yurukill kicks things off in an unknown prison. The first character and protagonist, Sengoku Shunju, is a mass murderer. Convicted of bombing an apartment building and killing 21 people, he's been removed from his cell and carted off to "Yurukill Land," a freakish amusement park. There, he and five other "Prisoners," all convicted of various crimes but continuing to proclaim their innocence, must survive the "Yurukill Games." The games are a series of challenges posed by Binko, Yurukill's eccentric, fox mask-wearing game show host. But there's more. Each Prisoner is paired up with an "Executioner," an individual with some connection to the Prisoner's crime. In Sengoku's case, his Executioner is Rina Azami, the only survivor of the bombing Sengoku allegedly committed.

Yurukill

Each pair's goal in Yurukill's death game is set early on. Win, and Prisoners will go free with enough evidence to clear their names. Executioners will have their wish granted, which could mean, for example, exacting revenge on the Prisoner. It's a wild setup that's perfectly set to accommodate roller-coaster plot twists, and developer Izanagi Games made sure the game's aesthetic reflects that unhinged energy.

Yurukill's visuals are top-notch, even among other famous adventure and visual novel-type games. The character designs come from Another manga artist Hiro Kiyohara and are beautifully rendered, if a bit static. When speaking, the character cutouts are surrounded by a lit border that animates and changes to accentuate the character's mood and lines. The borders even allow character-specific styling, such as the red Torii gates that surround Binko whenever she's on screen. It's a great touch that accentuates Yurukill's lavish sensibility, making it a joy to look at.

Yurukill is also a joy to hear, thanks to excellent voice work by its cast. The game features well-known actors like Saori Hayami, Ayane Sakura, Takuya Eguchi, and Tomozaku Sugita. Yu Kobayashi in the role of Binko is particularly entertaining, thanks to Kobayashi's ability to instantly switch from "femme fatale" to "far off the deep end".

Yurukill

The performances are supported by the writing. Based on a story by Kakegurui creator Homura Kawamoto and Build Divide creator Hikaru Muno, Yurukill: The Calumniation Games leans hard into the excess and over-the-top energy of the game's amusement park setting. The dozen or so hours it takes to clear the game pass quickly, as the chapters are efficiently constructed and help lay out the stakes without much fuss or fumble. The story loses some steam in the latter half, though. Some cases rely on leaps of reasoning that are frankly untenable to anyone that's not actively a cartoon character. Though vibes are generally more important than airtight logic in games like this, a few of the reaches really stretch credibility.

You play each pairing in turn, as they brave one of Yurukill Land's bespoke attractions. Each attraction is a multi-stage, escape room-style puzzle area, filled with dialog sequences, clues, and some puzzle-solving. The puzzles range from basic arithmetic and pattern recognition challenges to simplistic, hidden-object pixel hunts. The latter puzzles are where Yurukill's interface seems a bit inadequate, as you're made to maneuver a slow cursor around the screen to interact with hotspots. It feels like a UI better suited to touch screens or mouse-driven play rather than gamepads.

Then again, you might want a gamepad for the other half of Yurukill's gameplay. As mentioned, it's also a shoot-em-up, with the shooting portions of the game developed by G.Rev, a veteran shmup-maker with credits on series like Darius, Ikaruga, and Senko no Ronde. Following each adventure portion, Prisoners and Executioners alike are tossed into a virtual reality arcade to do battle in the Executioner's mind palace.

yurukill

Prisoners need to fly their Yurukill Fighters through the Executioner's mental defenses, making their case by shooting clues and navigating to different clues discovered in the adventure sequences. It works surprisingly well, because the shooting is genuinely fun and the character interactions continue during these portions. Each playable character also has a unique gimmick for their ship, such as extra guns that shoot sideways or orbiting laser drones. Though the gameplay can't really be said to be fully integrated with the narrative, it's not so distracting that it takes away rom the storytelling. Indeed, it can be a fun change of pace, cleansing the palate before the next round of insane plot twists. And when the story's over, players who liked the shooting can go back and play in Score Attack mode, choosing any playable character for any stage (they're locked in during the main story).

I'm not sure whether to think of Yurukill as a decent shmup with a good adventure game attached, or a good adventure game with a decent shmup minigame inserted into it. Perhaps it doesn't matter, as the two disparate flavors taste great together all the same.

Yurukill: The Calumniation Games releases for PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch on July 5, 2022 in North America and on July 8, 2022 for Europe and on PC.

While this is an unpainted prototype, the Skullgirls Valentine Nendoroid already takes into account her new design. The character's crosses will be removed in-game. They'll be replaced with shuriken. While it is a bit difficult to see, the outline for the shuriken is present on Valentine's hat for the figure.

FFXIV Island Sanctuary Detailed Ahead of 6.2

The Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer Live LXXI meant new details about upcoming features. The FFXIV Island Sanctuary will arrive in late August 2022 with 6.2. Once it arrives, people will need to build their own place on an island and engage in different kinds of casual gameplay alone. It essentially seems like a sort of farming life sum space.

The first part of the overview established this is purely a single-player affair. Someone who comes there will be able to have their own space. People can build facilities, grow crops, tend animals, and get materials for crafting. All of the items you get there will be only available on the island. They'll also be able to be used for tools, which can make gathering easier. All items are stored in their own inventory. To get island-specific currency, you can craft handicrafts and export ones most in-demand. You can also let your Wind-Up Minions roam around the space.

While the FFXIV Island Sanctuary will be a single-player space, other people can stop by. Players can invite friends and Free Company members to their island. They can also go to other people's islands to see what their buildings and Wind-Up Minions look like.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. The Island Sanctuary and Variant Dungeons will appear in FFXIV patch 6.2 in late August 2022.

FFXIV Heavensward

Though Patch 6.2 of Final Fantasy XIV is bringing a fair amount of brand-new activities for its players, the ongoing drive to revamp existing content continues. The July 1, 2022 Letter from the Producer's Live broadcast teased that a number of duties related to the Main Scenario Quest in FFXIV: Heavensward (Patch 3.0) will see improvements.

The goal of the FFXIV Heavensward improvements is to make the game experience better for players that want to enjoy Final Fantasy XIV as more of a single-player game. In earlier Live Letters, Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida noted that many players raised on the single-player Final Fantasy games shy away from trying FFXIV due to its multiplayer nature. The Main Scenario Quest improvements are targeted at making the main story more welcoming to players intimidated by the prospect of playing with others.

Earlier patches revamped content from the A Realm Reborn era to incorporate Duty Support, a way for solo players to take NPC party members into certain dungeons that are part of the Main Scenario Quest. These include the famous Praetorium. Now the Duty Support system is extending to story-important FFXIV Heavensward activities as well.

The list of dungeons with Duty Support compatibility is as follows:

  • Snowcloak
  • The Keeper of the Lake
  • Sohm Al
  • The Aery
  • The Vault

Where appropriate, the Duty Support system will allow named characters like Estinien, Alphinaud, and Ysayle, to participate as AI-controlled party members. The Steps of Faith Trial will be reworked as a solo quest as well.

The Thornmarch Trial, a FFXIV A Realm Reborn duty wherein players took on the Great King Moggle Mog XII, has also received a revamp. Because the Cape Westwind Duty was changed from an 8-person trial to a solo battle, Thornmarch became the first 8-player duty new players experience. The problem with that is that it's a fairly complex trial, which the team worried would be too difficult as players' first experience in 8-player content.

The Thornmarch Trial is well-known, because players need to defeat King Moggle Mog XII's guards in a certain order before facing him. This can require a level of coordination that newer players have yet to develop. The team wasn't specific as to what exactly will change about Thornmarch.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PS4, PS5, and PC. Patch 6.2 and the FFXIV Heavensward content revamps will arrive in August 2022.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R Foo Fighters, Yukako Confirmed

Rather than focusing on one character, the latest JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R video reveals three new ones. This rerelease of the game will include a number of folks not in the original game. Now, we know Yukako Yamagishi, Foo Fighters (FF), and another Jotaro Kujo will be present in this JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fighting game.

All three appear at the end of the newest trailer for the game. At the 1:28 mark, an image with the new, hidden characters shatters in three spots. That's when the new folks show up.

Yukako Yamagishi comes from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable. Her Stand is Love Deluxe. She's also known for her obsession over Koichi Hirose. Love Deluxe allows Yukako to attack enemies with her hair.

This new version of Jotaro Kujo also appeared in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable. Once again, he appears with his Stand Star Platinum.

Foo Fighters, also referred to as FF in the localizations, is one of Jolyne Cujoh's allies in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean. Their situation is unique, though you could also consider them a Stand user.

Here's the list of other characters who appeared in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R trailers so far.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R will appear on September 2, 2022. It will be available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Reno and Rude are on the FFVII Remake July 2022 Calendar

The July 2022 FFVII Remake calendar is here, and people will be looking at Reno and Rude all month. The two members of the Turks star in all of Square Enix's images. These are available for both PCs and mobile devices.

Here are the July 2022 FFVII Remake images. They're also a bit of a spoiler. The picture comes from a late-game encounter with Reno and Rude.
[gallery columns="2" ids="931455,931456" link="file"]

Reno and Rude mark the first FFVII Remake calendar to showcase villains. The ones that appeared previously in 2022 all starred heroes. Cloud, Barret, Aerith, and Tifa showed up first. The May 2022 one featured Red XIII. In June 2022, people got to look at Yuffie for a month.

It is incredibly common for companies to release monthly calendars with characters on them. For example, HoYoVerse does this with both Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available for the PlayStation 4, while FFVII Remake Intergrade is out on the PlayStation 5 and PC.

Digimon Survive Affinity and Conversation Gameplay Shown Off

There's a new Digimon Survive gameplay trailer, and it shows how the affinity and conversation elements in the game work. This is essentially a visual novel and tactical game rolled into one. However, the choices you make can also affect how battles go.

The Digimon Survive gameplay trailer begins by showing off conversation choices and how those can alter affinity or karma. In one segment, Takuma encounters a Fangmon. He's wondering if they are going to die. He has three options to choose from there. He can stand up, shout, or offer encouragement. The segment shows him choosing to stand up, which influences "moral." In another section, Takuma is talking with Aoi. The two are working out what route to take. By checking with her, the affinity between the two of them goes up to improve their relationship.

In another segment, it shows how conversations in battle can affect the situation in Digimon Survive. If you talk with an ally, it can do things like increase movement and boost stats. It also offers a peek at an Etemon enemy conversation. Takuma has four possible responses. Choosing "Yes, pretty please!" allows him to make Etemon his friend or get items from the character.

Here's the full Digimon Survive gameplay trailer.

Digimon Survive will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on July 29, 2022.

FFXIV Variant Dungeon

The latest Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer Live broadcast introduced an entirely new type of dungeon content, which will be introduced following August 2022's Patch 6.2 update. Called Variant Dungeons, the new FFXIV activities will offer a new approach to difficulty and choice. Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida detailed the concept behind FFXIV Variant Dungeons on the stream. They were previously introduced in the post-Endwalker content roadmap as "Criterion Dungeons".

Variant Dungeons are variable-difficulty FFXIV dungeons designed for solo play or in parties of up to four. They're meant for casual play, and have no role restrictions. This means you can bring four tanks, four DPS, four healers, or any combination of jobs to the dungeon. They'll even allow mid-dungeon changes of job. Enemy strength in a Variant Dungeon will be based on party size. Variant Dungeons also have multiple pathways of progression, with branches based on player actions.

The first FFXIV Variant Dungeon is called The Sil'dihn Subterrane. Players will explore it with "a certain somebody" and will experience a different story based on their choices. They'll be able to replay the dungeon to see different outcomes and paths.

The team didn't just throw away the previous Criterion Dungeon name, though. That's now the name of the hardcore take on FFXIV Variant Dungeons. Formally called Another Path - Criterion Dungeons, Criterion Dungeons are designed for max-level four-player parties. They're require the traditional role mix of one tank, one healer, and two DPS jobs, and have a predetermined route and enemy makeup. They're also different from a standard dungeon, in that they don't allow normal methods to revive a KO'd player. Instead, every player has a limited pool of revivals to use on their fallen buddies. Enemies also don't respawn if the party wipes out.

The first Criterion Dungeon will be called Another Sil'dihn Subterrane. It'll have its own Savage difficulty tier. On Savage, Criterion Dungeons forbid all forms of revival. They also respawn all enemies on a wipe, and enemies get stronger if players can't defeat them within a certain time limit. It seems designed to give 4-player parties a taste of the difficulty usually reserved for 8-player Trials and Raids.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PS4, PS5, and PC. FFXIV Variant Dungeons arrive as part of the Patch 6.2, which launches in late August 2022.
