Fortnite's overshield could be getting a buff

Fortnite's overshield gives you a nice buffer, and essentially acts as an extra 50 hit points that recharge as long as you're not in the midst of a firefight with other players, or someone like Darth Vader. Others might see it as kind of a drag, turning your opponents into bullet sponges, and making sniping almost worthless. But whether you love it or loathe it, it turns out the overshield could be getting stronger, thanks to a new buff potentially being added by Epic.

The new pre-release Minecraft update helps detect server tomfoolery

Minecraft goes through updates like most of us go through those Tupperware boxes you get when you order takeaway food. We only received The Wild 1.19 update last month, and yet we're still getting glimpses of upcoming changes to the 1.19.1 version of the game thanks to pre-releases and snapshots. The latest such Minecraft update is now upon us, and it brings some peculiar changes to the crafting game's chat.

Now, you'll likely already know about the chat reporting functions Mojang will be adding to Minecraft, especially as a fair few people are concerned about them, although Mojang has put out a post regarding some of the questions around them. The Minecraft 1.19.1 pre-release 2 brings with it chat trust status, which basically tells players whether or not a server is tampering with players' messages.

This should allow players to feel more comfortable regarding the moderation tools, but it's not going to solve issues regarding privacy that some people have. It'll work by using a mix of coloured indications and icons to display the status of a message, whether that means it's not secure, modified, or perfectly fine.

     Raft Varuna Point walkthrough

Our Raft Varuna Point walkthrough takes you through the sixth story location in this open-water survival game. Varuna Point consists of two half-sunken tower ruins plus a massive crane, but since you'll be spending most of your time underwater, it's best to visit this island equipped with an Oxygen Bottle, a pair of Flippers, and some Spicy Pineberry drinks, courtesy of a Raft juicer.

Another essential item in this Raft Varuna Point walkthrough is the Zipline Tool, but you can leave it on the raft until you've completed the underwater part of this island. Finally, since Varuna Point is home to a rather aggressive Rhino Shark and a bunch of Anglerfishes, there's no such thing as bringing too much Healing Salve.

Call of Duty: Warzone season 4 has delivered a range of good, new stuff so far, particularly in the shape of Fortune's Keep, and the much sought-after gold keycards. But the new version of the Roze skin, named Violet Stealth, is starting to cause problems, as a glitch is making the players who wear it turn invisible, even on daytime maps.

     The best MP7 Warzone setup

Are you looking for the best MP7 Warzone setup? There are so many weapons to pick from in Warzone that it's very easy to forget about off-meta guns like the MP7. Compared to the best SMGs in Warzone, the MP7's big weakness is its relatively slow time to kill speed. That said, what the MP7 lacks in damage, it more than makes up for in accuracy and recoil control.

If you're the type of player that values accuracy above everything else, the best MP7 setup sounds like the perfect weapon for you. With the right set of attachments, the MP7 can be customised to improve its effect damage range, making it possible to fight off enemies from a distance. This is vital on smaller maps like Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep as it gives you a fighting chance against enemies using long range weapons.

This Silent Hill Elden Ring mod lets you become Pyramid Head

Silent Hill fans are some of the most practised at dealing with an absence of news about their favourite series, but now a new Elden Ring mod gives them a way to fill that void by stepping into the shoes of the series' most recognisable antagonist, Pyramid Head. The iconic horror game villain is now playable in FromSoftware's open-world game thanks to mod creator Tallmaget.

The Elden Ring Pyramid Head mod replaces the RPG game's Crucible Tree helm and chest armour, along with Radahn's gauntlets and greaves, with Pyramid Head's familiar messy butcher's attire and, well, pyramid head. There's an option to choose between a grimly blood-soaked version of the outfit and a freshly cleaned, if still a little grimy, alternative.

In addition, the Troll Knight's sword is replaced with the great knife that the creepy tormentor drags around behind him - although your Elden Ring equivalent appears to wield it with a little more ease. To get your hands on this weapon, then, you'll want to nab one by fighting the Troll Knights either in Caria Manor or on the path to The Four Belfries.

Genshin Impact events – all current and upcoming events

Want to know more about the upcoming Genshin Impact events? A new version of Genshin Impact arrives every six weeks, complete with new characters, quests, and events. It's difficult to keep track of which events are currently running and if there are any new ones coming soon, so here's a schedule for all current and upcoming Genshin Impact events.

There are usually a number of Genshin Impact events running simultaneously, and they aren't just in-game events. When a new Genshin Impact character joins the game, the devs launch a web event at the same time - players learn about the latest characters through an interactive story told through a web browser. The rewards for completing different events range from in-game items like primogems and mora, to real life prizes like mouse mats and plushies.

Just like the Genshin Impact banners, most events are only available for a limited time, so it's worth participating as soon as you can. New events are usually added to Genshin Impact after an update, but it's worth keeping an eye out on this page as the devs do like to surprise the community.

How to knock down Fortnite timber pines

Want to know how to knock down timber pines in Fortnite? While these trees have been with us since Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1, the area around them has changed dramatically. However, with the Reality Falls tree slowly taking over the island, this may be the last time we can appreciate these colossal conifers.

One challenge this week asks you to knock down Fortnite timber pines with a Fortnite Ripsaw Launcher. They're different from regular pine trees in how they look, where you can find them, and what happens when you destroy them. However, once you locate these tall trees, you only need to knock down five timber pines with the Fortnite Ripsaw Launcher to complete the challenge. This is worth doing as you'll gain lots of experience towards the battle pass and unlock this season's Fortnite skins and some free Fortnite V-bucks.

If you've not finished the previous challenges, we have some guides for the more challenging tasks, such as how to kill Darth Vader, where to find Fortnite diving boards, and all of the Fortnite reality seeds locations. But before we get too ahead of ourselves, here is where you can find the timber pines in Fortnite.

Adapting an established property in any medium has got to be a pretty tricky proposition. Satisfying the long term fans while keeping things approachable for newcomers on top of, well, making a good game. Add in the complexities of making a turn-based game based on an existing turn-based game and it's surprising that developers don't just collapse into gibbering, tentacle-waving Chaos Spawn.

Complex Games, the developers of recent XCOM-like Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters not only managed to resist the mutating power of the Warp, but produced an absolute cracker of a game. Suspecting pacts with Dark Powers were behind it, I put on my big Inquisitorial hat and set off to question Noah Decter-Jackson, the game's Creative Director.

It turns out that school won't be out for summer this year, because The Sims 4's next expansion pack High School Years is set to release on July 28th. The first full expansion since Cottage Living launched a year ago, High School Years is set to do exactly what it says on the tin, massively expanding gameplay options for Sims in their teens.

The pack promises to introduce staples of high school life like attending classes, getting detention, going to prom, and graduating, all as on-screen activities that the player can guide their Sims through. While there's a fair bit of overlap with the series' established college-themed expansion packs like The Sims 4 Discover University, giving this treatment to high school-aged characters is a franchise first, and something that's been on the fandom's collective wish list for a very long time.

FFXIV version 6.2

Final Fantasy XIV 6.2 will bring the next major content updates to the game, as detailed by the development team in the July 2022 Producer's Live Letter broadcast. The broadcast, hosted by Producer Naoki Yoshida and Community Producer Toshio Murouchi, detailed the many coming additions to the long-running MMORPG. Besides main scenario and sidequest content FFXIV version 6.2 will add new playable dungeons, another tier of Normal Raids, and an entirely new type of playable battle content.

As part of the main scenario, a new dungeon called The Fell Court of Troia will open up as part of the Main Scenario quest progression. A new Trial will also be added, but to avoid spoilers the team is keeping the details about it under wraps for now. It'll get an Extreme difficulty variant, as well.

The Abyssos tier of the Pandaemonium Normal Raid series also unlocks in FFXIV version 6.2. The first tier, Asphodelos, launched in December 2021, and its Savage difficulty tier arrived in January 2022. According to Yoshida, the team will experiment a bit with Abyssos by reducing the time interval between Normal and Savage difficulty unlocking. Rather than the usual two weeks, the Savage tier of Pandaemonium Abyssos will unlock just one week after the Normal launch. Yoshida is aware of feedback both for and against the move, and the team considers this time a "test run", and will adjust based on feedback.

The Containment Bay S1T7 (a.k.a. Sephirot) Trial will receive an Unreal difficulty tier with FFXIV version 6.2. Unreal Trials are among Final Fantasy XIV's most difficult and complex battles, which means players' rematch with the Fiend of the Warring Triad will have many new tricks and twists.

FFXIV is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC, and 6.2 will arrive in late August 2022.

Square Enix revealed its plans for the next set of Final Fantasy XIV content updates, including FFXIV Patch 6.2. It will appear in late August 2022. Before that arrives, the next patch for Final Fantasy XIV, Patch 6.18, will launch on July 5, 2022. It's bringing with it previously detailed features like Data Center Travel, as well as expansions to the game's server architecture and infrastructure.

When it FFXIV 6.2 does appear, it will introduce new Main Scenario quests, as well as a substantial amount of new content for players to experience. The patch is titled "Buried Memory" in English. The main scenario additions will continue the game's "Newfound Adventure" quest line, the post-Endwalker storyline that began in Patch 6.1. To tease developments, Producer Naoki Yoshida showed off a couple of screenshots. The first showed the Warrior of Light, Estinien, Y'shtola, and Varshahn meeting with Cid. The second showed a new being, which may be considered a spoiler for Endwalker.

FFXIV Patch 6.2 will also continue the "Tataru's Grand Endeavour" sidequest chain. A teaser screenshot showed Tataru and the Warrior of Light meeting with Leofard of the Redbill sky pirates. Leofard played a major role in the Heavensward "Shadow of Mhach" Alliance Raid series. Players will need to complete that set of quests in order to progress through "Tataru's Grand Endeavour."

Other additions teased for FFXIV Patch 6.2 include a new set of Tribal Quests focused on Disciples of the Land (Gatherer jobs). These Tribal Quests will involve the Omicrons. The return of Hildibrand is set for Patch 6.25, with "Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures." These quests will unlock legendary Manderville Weapons with quest-based progression throughout the life of Endwalker.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Patch 6.18 arrives on July 5, 2022, and Patch 6.2 arrives in late August 2022.

My Hero Academia Ultra Rumble Beta

Development on My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble proceeds apace, and if rumors prove true, a second closed beta test is planned for the game. Tipster Ryokuta2089 revealed on their blog that Bandai Namco's battle royale action title was due for another test, though did not specify when it would take place.

The next My Hero Academia Ultra Rumble beta will likely address issues raised by the first closed beta test, which was held in February 2022 in Japan.

In April, Bandai Namco published an Ultra Rumble beta report based on the first test, highlighting trends and other insights from the participants.

According to the report, over 15,000 players applied to join the first closed beta, with over 73% of those who responded to the post-test survey expressing the desire to play My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble upon its official release.

The feedback also produced points for improvement that the development team intends to focus on. The main issue referred to a need for character balance tuning. Characters like Mt. Lady, Tomura Shiragaki, Dabi, Ochako Uraraka, and Cementoss were singled out as in need of adjustment. That said, the game as a whole would be balanced continually to ensure a level playing field for all characters. The top three characters by pick frequency were Katsuki Bakugo, Tomura Shigaraki, and Mt. Lady. Mt. Lady stood tall above the competition both literally and figuratively, as players using her won almost a quarter of the matches played during the first Ultra Rumble beta.

Similarly, adjustments will be made for visual and effect feedback on attacking (and being attacked). Movement adjustments for character dashes will also be made. It'll also be made easier to form and disband teams made through matchmaking. Lastly, a "practice zone" or some other way to test out character moves before joining a match proper will be implemented. It's unknown if these proposed improvements will make it into the next My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble beta test, though.

My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble is in development and targeted for a Fall 2022 release on PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo Switch Online Zero Wing

More Sega Genesis titles are now available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Nintendo has added four new Sega Genesis games to its Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack offering, including Zero Wing and Mega Man: The Wily Wars. The new additions also feature Comix Zone and Target Earth. All four games are available via the app.

Below is Nintendo's official announcement. The announcement tweet includes a brief trailer showcasing gameplay from each title. Zero Wing is a side-scrolling shooter, Comix Zone is a beat-em-up, and Target Earth is a run and gun shooter. Unlike the other titles, Mega Man: The Wily Wars is a compilation of the first three Mega Man games and a fourth, new game titled Wily Tower. As in the original 1994 release, players must complete all three games before unlocking Wily Tower.

https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/1542677284750082054

As a side note, Zero Wing is the game that birthed the "All your base are belong to us" meme. As such, it appears none of the mistranslations or grammatical errors have been changed. Additionally, you may also know Target Earth by its other title, Assault Suits Leynos. Notably, many of these games have also appeared in other compilations. Comix Zone, for example, was included in the earlier Sega Genesis Classics bundle for the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo's last Sega Genesis update added games like Altered Beast and ToeJam & Earl to its subscription service. More recently, Nintendo added Pokemon Snap for the Nintendo 64, as well as Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards and F-Zero before that.

The new Sega Genesis games Comix ZoneTarget EarthZero Wing, and Mega Man: The Wily Wars are available through the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack's Sega Genesis library. The Expansion Pack costs $49.99 for a single membership and $79.99 for a family membership.
