It's fairly simple to install logo packs in Football Manager, but if you've never done it before, we've got you covered. We also have a few of the best logo packs in FM23 listed, so you can pick the one that suits your preferred style the best - ideally in tandem with the best FM23 skins. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 1:14 PM Wondering how to craft the best Kastov 762 loadout for Modern Warfare 2? You probably recognise this as the stalwart AK assault rifle that's cropped up in practically every post-WW2 Call of Duty campaign and multiplayer from time immemorial, and if you're familiar with that weapon then you'll know that this is one of the best assault rifles in Modern Warfare 2, and even one of the best guns in the FPS game. It's versatile, hits like a truck, and kicks like a mule - other clichéd similies are available. Therefore, our best Kastov 762 loadout focuses on harnessing its stopping power into a slightly more user-friendly build. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 1:46 PM Respawn Entertainment has released the Apex Legends patch notes for season 15, called Eclipse, and it includes an array of updates and changes to the battle royale game, but notably no buffs or nerfs to the in-game Legends themselves. There is information about the map rotation, a pretty massive change to the firing range, and a series of balance updates, but the legends remain untouched in the multiplayer game. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 1:19 PM Modern Warfare 2 Spec Ops has returned to Call of Duty, giving players a chance to team up and tackle self-contained missions in the FPS game. With a story following on from the Modern Warfare 2 campaign, find your most trustworthy squad mates and prepare to sharpen your communication skills as well as your aim. As usual in Infinity Ward-developed Call of Duty games, Spec Ops appears in place of the Zombies mode we often see from Treyarch in the Black Ops series. A worthy inclusion, Spec Ops is a different flavour of multiplayer game, especially if getting dominated online starts getting old, and includes new features this time around, and will prepare you for new, upcoming Spec Ops Raids. That said, here's everything you need to know about Modern Warfare 2 Spec Ops. RELATED LINKS: The best Modern Warfare 2 guns, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 release date, Modern Warfare 2 Gunsmith |

PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 1:00 PM Knowing where to find all of the Modern Warfare 2 Ghost Team targets will help you unlock the Practice Makes Perfect achievement, but hitting every target in the practice area isn't as easy as it may seem, mainly because the campaign mission takes a turn. Suddenly there's a tank hell-bent on taking you down. There are 33 targets littered around the practice area in this FPS game, reminiscent of the tutorial mission S.S.D.D from the original Modern Warfare 2. These are wooden cutouts of enemy soldiers, and when you hit them with either a weapon or a melee attack, they ping and fall over. Here's how to find all the ghost team targets and unlock the Practice Makes Perfect Modern Warfare 2 achievement. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 12:47 PM Want to know how to kill the enemy in the porta-potty in Modern Warfare 2? The 'A Crappy Way To Die' achievement tasks you with killing an enemy while they're having a private moment in the FPS game. Doing so will net you an achievement and bring you one step closer to that campaign reward. Finding the enemy is the easy part, and the shot itself isn't difficult. The main issue arises with your teammate's itchy trigger fingers; you have to be quick on the draw, so you get the toilet kill before your squad does. Here's how to kill the enemy in the porta-potty in Modern Warfare 2 and unlock the 'A Crappy Way to Die' Modern Warfare 2 achievement. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 1:22 PM The Modern Warfare 2 SP-X 80 best loadout is a fantastic option for those looking to pick off enemies from a distance. As one of the best MW2 sniper rifles you can take with you in the multiplayer game, you need to learn to keep your distance on the larger Modern Warfare 2 maps, particularly if you're helping teammates capture objectives. Thanks to big changes to the Modern Warfare 2 Gunsmith, you can automatically unlock new attachments for the SP-X 80 by using weapons in the Bryson Long Rifle weapon platform. For example, if you primarily use the SP-R 208 marksman rifle, this unlocks attachments for every weapon on the platform, including the SP-X 80. However, since you can only make five modifications to your gun, you must choose carefully. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 12:34 PM The Genshin Impact 3.2 update goes live on November 2, and HoYoverse has let players know that it can now be pre-installed on mobile devices and PC. Though, it doesn't seem to be available for consoles just yet. The pre-installation will take up about 2-3GB of space on mobile and 7GB on PC. The size varies depending on your platform, but the pre-installation is well worth the time it should save once the RPG's actual update drops. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 12:42 PM Are you looking to play Modern Warfare 2 split screen on PC with your pals? Many Modern Warfare 2 game modes allow you to sink your teeth into some co-operative play with a friend, including the return of the highly lauded Modern Warfare 2 Spec Ops mode. However, accessing local multiplayer via split screen is another matter entirely. While split screen multiplayer is becoming increasingly rare due to the prevalence of online play, it's the only real option for playing FPS games co-operatively on one PC. Thankfully, we've got the lowdown on the local play you can expect from Infinity Ward's multiplayer game. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 12:56 PM Before we get started with this Tower of Fantasy tier list, it's important to clarify how the roster works exactly. Otherwise known as simulacra, Tower of Fantasy characters are largely cosmetic skins in this anime game. While it's possible to imbue these avatars with minor buffs via the awakening system, most of their skills and abilities are tied to the weapon they wield. Team composition in Tower of Fantasy is closer to a weapons loadout, and the best characters are actually the best Tower of Fantasy weapons. However, for the purposes of this Tower of Fantasy tier list, we'll primarily be referring to the weapons you pull by the name of the simulacra that comes with them. This tier list also takes into account weapon advancements, which is what happens when you collect a duplicate of an SR or SSR simulacra. Some characters require weapon advancements to fully unlock their potential, while others don't. Without further ado, here is our Tower of Fantasy tier list. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 12:14 PM Looking for the best Vel 46 loadout for Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer? The Vel 46 might not have a familiar name in MW2 2022, but it has been in the series countless times under the guise of the MP7. This is easily one of the best SMGs in Modern Warfare 2, boasting a ridiculously high rate of fire, easy-to-learn recoil, superb iron sights, and very high mobility. These factors all combine to make it one of the best Modern Warfare 2 guns for aggressive play styles. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 12:12 PM The Modern Warfare 2 voice service unavailable error message is causing players some issues when playing the multiplayer game with friends. When teaming up with those you know, or even a lobby of strangers, communication is vital to winning in the FPS game, so you'll understandably want to get this problem fixed ASAP. There could be a whole host of reasons why you're receiving the Modern Warfare 2 voice service unavailable error. It could be an interference in your current in-game settings, your antivirus software being overly sensitive, or perhaps even a larger issue with Modern Warfare 2. If it's the latter, there are ways to circumvent the problem, and we've listed them below. RELATED LINKS: The best Modern Warfare 2 guns, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 release date, Modern Warfare 2 Gunsmith |
PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 12:10 PM There's nothing quite like a Modern Warfare 2 finishing move to put your stamp on an unwitting opponent. Whether it's to discourage a camper who's been clinging to corners and hiding spots, or you're trying to figure out how to unlock Modern Warfare 2 operators like Konig, a finishing move is a little bit more than a stylish way to secure a kill. And sure, they're not rare in FPS games, but COD has some of the best finisher animations. However, while the game has a ton of finishing moves and challenges associated with them, there's not an obvious description of how to actually do one. It's worth noting that you'll pretty much have to find an enemy who's totally oblivious to your whereabouts - which is no mean feat in such a competitive, twitchy multiplayer game - to trigger the animation. One of at least a dozen different contextual finishing move animations will play out differently depending on what stance your opponent is in, what weapon you're holding, and whether or not you've purchased or equipped a bespoke finishing move from the store. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 12:04 PM Wondering if you can turn off Modern Warfare 2 crossplay? Like other Call of Duty games before it, Modern Warfare 2 supports crossplay and cross-platform progression. Infinity Ward's multiplayer game actively encourages you to play with friends and opponents across platforms, making it easy to do so, but PC and Xbox players have found they may be encouraging it a little too much. You see, you cannot turn off crossplay in Modern Warfare 2. This might not bother those who want to squad up with friend on console, but some PC players prefer the balance of fighting only those on the same platform. While crossplay is necessary if you want to play Modern Warfare 2 Spec Ops mode with trusted teammates who don't have a PC, we're still used to at least having the option to turn crossplay off in the FPS game. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 12:22 PM The lack of a Modern Warfare 2 hardcore mode option in multiplayer has alarmed players upon the launch of the latest Call of Duty shooter, because there's no option to pick hardcore on the menus. The classic no-HUD, shorter time-to-kill game mode that has been present in every FPS game in the series since the original Modern Warfare is confirmed to be coming to the game later down the line, but when it does, it'll be known as something different. While hardcore mode isn't in the game right now, when the Modern Warfare 2 Tier 1 playlist option eventually appears, that's what you'll want to select. Hardcore has been renamed to Tier 1 for reasons known only to the developers, but the mode itself is the same. The question is, when is hardcore - or Tier 1 as it's now known - coming to Modern Warfare 2? PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 12:57 PM Choosing the best graphics card can enhance your gaming PC tenfold, enabling you to enjoy lofty resolutions and frame rates. While GeForce RTX 4000 and Radeon RX 7000 GPUs will soon fight for the crown, Intel could win over gamers on a budget with its Arc Alchemist range. With that in mind, what makes the best GPU? If you're rocking a high-spec rig, you'll likely want a powerhouse card that can run the latest games at 4K and still boost fps. Of course, premium parts come at a price, as flagship RTX 4000 offerings like the Nvidia RTX 4090 cost more than an entire system. Thankfully, you don't need a GPU kaiju to build the best gaming PC for your needs, and there is a range of different Nvidia, AMD, and Intel options out there to choose from. So to help unmuddy the sea of specs, we've compiled a list of the best graphics card choices on the market right now. RELATED LINKS: Best SSD for gaming, How to build a gaming PC, Best gaming CPU |
PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 11:46 AM Yes, there are Modern Warfare 2 skins that celebrate an incredibly bizarre Call of Duty Burger King crossover, and yes again, they're being resold online for exorbitant prices as the skin bundle isn't available in some countries. While FPS games and brands have crossed over for time immemorial, this is one of the more outlandish deals, and it's even more outlandish that some people think you'll pay almost half of Modern Warfare 2's asking price to get it in the multiplayer game. PCGamesN Monday, October 31, 2022 11:42 AM The Modern Warfare 2 Prestige system is a way for players to show off their experience in the FPS game. It serves as an unlock platform for various cosmetics. It's been a staple of Call of Duty for years, with Infinity Ward opting for seasonal progression, rather than something that lasts the entire game cycle. A seasonal Modern Warfare 2 Prestige cycle would mean that you rank up as usual, but instead of 'prestiging' and adding a permanent marker to your profile, as in previous iterations of Modern Warfare, the rank will reset with the start of each in-game season. Here are all the ways you can earn XP in order to get Prestige ranks. RELATED LINKS: The best Modern Warfare 2 guns, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 release date, Modern Warfare 2 Gunsmith |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, October 31, 2022 1:00 PM I guarantee you've never played a more elegant puzzle game than Gorogoa. This tile-based adventure is gorgeous with a capital G. Its story, puzzle mechanics, and visuals: Gorgeous. Gorgeous. Gorgeous. The game is structured into four square panels in a two-by-two grid. Players can move around each of the squares to solve puzzles or click inside each square to interact with the scene. This is where it gets cool: Any object you see that has some sort of frame around it - doorways, paintings, windows, photographs - you can actually move through them and discover new areas to explore. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, October 31, 2022 12:56 PM Canny Overwatch 2 players have reported more success in obtaining skins by grinding for in-game gold in Blizzard's long-running fantasy MMO World Of Warcraft and converting that into Battle.net balance than by completing weekly challenges in the hero shooter itself. The trick involves trading gold farmed in WOW for tokens that convert to Battle.net balance, which can then be spent on Overwatch 2 cosmetics. It's a cunning ploy that speaks volumes about player frustration with the multiplayer shooter's new free to play mechanics, a situation that might still change if Blizzard listen to results of a recent survey. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, October 31, 2022 12:05 PM Overwatch 2's lead hero designer has revealed Blizzard are working on new support heroes for the game as one of their "long-term focuses". The admission came as part of a response to players asking for more support characters in Overwatch 2, as there are currently only eight of them to pick from right now, versus the ten tanks and whopping 16 damage characters in its overall roster. It's not just the number of supports Blizzard have been thinking about either. Over the weekend, it also emerged the Overwatch 2 devs are sending out a survey to current players, with emphasis on the game's store and the divisive battle pass introduced when the series went free to play. The developments follow on from hero balance changes being brought forward from season two to mid-November. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, October 31, 2022 12:00 PM Look, it's all well and good wanting to get scared on Halloween or whatever. But some of us live the horror life every day of the year. We seek out spooks even in the heat of summer, and know there's no better mid-winter warmer than a good ghost story. So what are we to do to make this occasion still feel special? I know common wisdom considers Halloween to be "Goth Christmas", but in my experience goths bloody love Christmas as much as the next person. They are, however, far more likely to be agnostic on the subject of Valentine's Day. Yes, I have spent far too long thinking about this, but I'm determined to stand by my conclusions, thereby dubbing this holiday "Goth Valentine's". Which leads me neatly into the purpose of this feature: games that let you date the monster. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, October 31, 2022 11:06 AM Putting together this list of the best early Black Friday SSD deals has proven trickier than expected, and not because Black Friday is still three weeks away. It's because so many SSDs are subjected to dirty retailer tricks, mainly raising prices for the sole purpose of dropping them back down and calling it a "deal". Naw, sir, not falling for that. What you'll find here, then, are SSD offers with genuine discounts only – and with both lightspeed-fast NVMe SSDs and affordable SATA SSDs on early sales, there's something for all kinds of PC builds. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, October 31, 2022 9:00 AM Horror games, you say? Feh, hardware can be scary too. One time I turned on a power supply and it literally went up in a cloud of smoke. Last year I cut my hand on a CPU cooler radiator. And did you see how dusty my PC was before I cleaned it? That's basically body horror. Apparently ignorant of their products' ability to frighten and maim, PC gaming hardware makers sometimes try to manufacture an imposing aura by giving them big, bad names. You've probably seen these already: keyboards named after swords, laptops christened as mythical animals and the like. But some go full spooky, consulting the Halloween kids' costume pantheon of creatures and creepers. Is an eerie moniker enough to strike fear, even before it has the chance to cause minor injuries or force you into a tedious warranty replacement process? Let's find out. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, October 31, 2022 8:59 AM Management at a hotel that appears in the Amsterdam missions of new Activision Blizzard military shooter Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 have said they regret the hotel's "unwanted involvement" in the game. The Conservatorium Hotel, a five-star gaff that describes itself as the "living room of Amsterdam" on its website, hasn't taken too kindly to being shot to pieces in digital form. Despite a name change, it's still recognisably the same establishment. |

My eye was caught by some good and fancy things, including Halloweenie bits like an armed squirrel spooking people and lots of red fluids. |

Siliconera Monday, October 31, 2022 3:30 PM Atlus shared the English and Japanese versions of the Shin Megami Tensei 30th anniversary logo, and each one features iconic demons like Jack Frost and Pixie. The only difference between the two logos is the text. Otherwise, they are identical. First, here's the English version of the logo. Next, here's the Japanese logo: Pixie is sitting on the bottom of the "3" in 30 for the Shin Megami Tensei 30th anniversary logo, while Jack Frost is hanging off of the "0." Pyro Jack is positioned above Jack Forst, right next to the "H" in "30th." Decarabia is right in front of him. There is also another demon right about the "3" that looks like it could be Orthrus. The most recent Shin Megami Tensei entry was SMT V. It appeared on the Nintendo Switch in 2021. Ahead of that, SMT III: Nocturne HD Remaster showed up for the PS4, Switch, and PC. Atlus hasn't announced any new games or projects to tie in with the Shin Megami Tensei 30th anniversary yet. The original SMT appeared on the Super Famicom in 1992 in Japan. The game didn't appear officially in English until its 2014 iOS debut. In Japan, it joined the Nintendo Switch Online library of free games for subscribers back in 2020. Siliconera Monday, October 31, 2022 3:00 PM Bayonetta is known for her guns. I mean, it's hard for them to not be the first thing that comes to mind, given she dual-wields one pair and another two are installed on the heels of her shoes for added firepower. But the series is also known for an array of equipment, with each entry offering a variety of items to beat up foes no matter where they hail. Bayonetta 3 is no exception, with yet another impressive weapon list, and I couldn't help but feel that this time it was exceptionally good at calling back to the series' past and lore. Editor's Note: There will be spoilers for Bayonetta 3 weapons and demons below. However, no spoiler screenshots will be shared, in case people want to skim through the article. To start, Colour My World is amazing because you can't have a Bayonetta game without a set of four trademark guns. It's the staple, and it excels here. Especially as the Demon Masquerade tied to it is Madama Butterfly. This is an intrinsic part of Bayonetta's personality. It feels so comfortable and familiar, yet the merging with Madama Butterfly adds this extra heft to each attack and fits Bayonetta's "brand" so well. Also, this is probably silly to say, but the color scheme suits her so well too. Getting it in the first chapter feels like coming home. Bayonetta 3 also doesn't hesitate to quickly add a weapon someone might consider "silly" to the weapons list. That's the Ignis Araneae Yo-yo, the favored piece of equipment for the Bayonetta living in Japan. It felt kind of like she was living out some Gogo Yubari or Bridget fantasy when equipping it. There's this flurry of activity, with webs of spinning, bladed orbs just viscerally tearing through any opponent. Or like she's the strongest roller derby ace, tearing around on definitely unauthorized for play "skates." That it also takes a familiar recurring boss from Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2, Phantasmaranere, and makes it playable as a Demon Masquerade is even better. Speaking of returning bosses, Alruna showing up again after Bayonetta 2 and bringing the boss Alraune was something I didn't expect. Granted, you need to work for it. Finding the Umbran Tears in the third chapter can require some precise and quick movements. (Especially to get the cat near the shrine area.) Not to mention it also means going through Chapter 3's Phenomenal Remnant 3. Considering the events of Bayonetta 2, in which Alraune held Jeanne's soul, and the hatred she's always had for Madama Butterfly, it will never not be satisfying to me to see her as an ally. But out of all the glorious weapons, I especially love the Bayonetta 3 Tartarus due to it being inspired by and tied to one of the most ridiculous and unexpected demons in the game: Umbra Clock Tower. Yes, the actual Vigrid clock tower is in a game as a demon. When Bayonetta wields them, she essentially starts shooting off two miniguns. That they look like a pair of gates enhances the whole effect. It is filled with this sense of history and affection for the series. I mean, when it comes to possible series paying tribute to itself, Bayonetta 3 is absolutely the game you'd expect to do it. As a point of reference, for those wondering what they could look forward to when playing, here's the full list of Bayonetta 3 weapons for Bayonetta:
As you'd expect from any proper sequel, Bayonetta 3 is a celebration of the series as a whole. Its revels in everything that came before it. There's a love for the characters and world. And with the way PlatinumGames' handled the weapons in Bayonetta 3, it's like you're being reminded of past games and cool details about the series whenever you head into a battle. Bayonetta 3 is available for the Nintendo Switch. The post The Bayonetta 3 Weapons List is Filled with Delightful Callbacks appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Monday, October 31, 2022 2:30 PM The undersea adventure continues in the next Arknights event: Stultifera Navis. Latin for "Ship of Fools," Stultifera Navis continues the story from last year's Under Tides event. With it will come a new set of playable characters, two of which are limited. The event first ran on the Chinese edition of Arknights in May 2022, and it will kick off on the Global Edition on November 3, 2022. To promote the Arknights Stultifera Navis event, Hypergryph released two trailers, with one animated in 2D. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXIK977up6c Here's the 3D trailer, which spotlights Specter and Irene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViYqM7bTzbk The shorter 2D trailer showcases a return to the nation of Iberia for the Abyssal Hunters, a group of super soldiers that fight the Seaborn, aquatic creatures that hail from the deep oceans of Terra. Where the Under Tides event starred the Abyssal Hunter Skadi, her comrade Specter leads the narrative of Stultifera Navis. Specter appears in the trailers as Specter the Unchained, an Alternate Operator. Specter the Unchained is described as having "broken free from her insanity." Irene, also a supporting character in Under Tides, takes a prominent role in the story. She's a junior member of Iberia's Inquisition, a religious organization the persecutes Aegir, a Terran race blamed for the country's decline. Irene is a Guard-class character, while Specter the Unchained swaps from her standard Guard class to a Specialist designation. Players will be able to roll the Arknights Stultifera Navis gacha banner for Irene and Specter the Unchained when the event begins. Those that participate in the event, though, will receive a free 5-Star Operator, Lumen. Outside the event itself, the kickoff of Stultifera Navis will refresh the Arknights cosmetic skin store, adding skins for characters like Aurora, Mudrock, Gnosis, Reed, Tequila, and Skadi the Corrupting Heart (star of Under Tides). Arknights Stultifera Navis begins on November 3, 2022 and runs through November 24, 2022. The game is available on iOS and Android devices. Siliconera Monday, October 31, 2022 2:00 PM In a new and wide-ranging interview with Denfaminico Gamer, Yosuke Shiokawa revealed a little more about what he's planning with his new studio, Fahrenheit 213. The interview itself covers large portions of Shiokawa's career, particularly his experience with mobile hit Fate/Grand Order and why he left developer Delightworks. On leaving Delightworks and what's next for Fahrenheit 213In the interview, Yosuke Shiokawa talked about when he decided to leave Delightworks and "start fresh." He mentioned that the turning point came in the Fall of 2020, when he had wrapped up development on Fate/Grand Order: Waltz in the Moonlight/Lostroom, a rhythm game spin-off of FGO. He said that as he was between major tasks, he tried to take on the challenge of launching a completely new title. Through 2021, he worked on things like preparing prototypes and pitches for new IP. However, things changed at Delightworks, and according to him, "the gap between what I wanted to do and what the company wanted to focus on grew larger." During this time, Delightworks President Akihito Shoji, one of the people who brought Shiokawa onboard resigned from his role, and it was decided that development would move from Delightworks to Aniplex (under what would become Lasengle). By March 2021, Shiokawa had created Fahrenheit 213 within Delightworks as a "one-man department" to continue exploring the original IP project. Shiokawa resolved to "buy out" the rights to Fahrenheit 213, spinning it off fully from Delightworks and Lasengle to go independent. Now, it's operating as a small, four-person studio (with Shiokawa as CEO). Their eventual goal: To create a "3D action" game that is "irreplaceable". In essence, they wish to create a game that might not appeal to everyone, but will be executed such that someone out there will see it as something that can't be substituted for, something unique and resonant on a singular level. Shiokawa said that as his favorite genre is in character-focused 3D action, that's where he plans to direct his energy. Shiokawa also went on to say that many action games have a "flavor" that comes out in things like how a player defeats an enemy. Some games highlight aggressive combat, and others let a player read an enemy and use special tactics. At Fahrenheit 213, they want to make a game that has its own unique flavor as well where a player might think "I can only get this response from this game." He highlighted Splatoon as a game with that sort of unique, inimitable quality. He remarked that were one to try to describe Splatoon using just words, it wouldn't sound like much fun, but that its uniqueness is conveyed instantly once someone sees it in action. He also likened that quality to one of his previous works, Dissidia Final Fantasy. At the time, he said, there wasn't anything quite like Dissidia, with that kind of action, and that kind of combat. The interview was light on specifics about Yosuke Shiokawa and Fahrenheit 213's ambition, seeing as the project hasn't even truly begun development. At the moment, they're also working on a more indie-scale title for PC. The indie-scale title is self-funded, and it's not even a year out from beginning development, so these are very early days. On Kingdom Hearts and lessons learned working overseasSpeaking about his career, Shiokawa also revealed some interesting tidbits about his early career and work on games like Kingdom Hearts. After moving to Square Enix, he got involved with Kingdom Hearts as a battle planner, where he was put in charge of designing many of the game's enemies from scratch. While the Battle Planning Leader worked on the game's combat from the player's perspective, Shiokawa had to work on how the enemies would behave and what kinds of challenges they'd pose to Sora. He started out by trying to answer the question "What is an enemy in this game?", and looked to other titles to see how they answered that question. He looked at other 3D action games, including titles like Sega's Dynamite Cop and Power Stone in particular. At the time, there were relatively few 3D games that allowed for free movement around the map. Arcade titles (like Dynamite Cop and Power Stone) were on the cutting edge of 3D movement and combat. Yosuke Shiokawa also spoke about his experiences working in a North American game development company, and some of the difficulties of surmounting the differences between game development cultures in Japan and overseas. He noted that in Japan, it was common to describe things on the basis of "sensation" or "feel", such as saying things like "It's more refreshing to do things this way". Whereas at the development sites he worked in, things tended to be framed in less ambiguous terms. He contrasted the focus on "sensations" with a focus on "events" or "actions". He learned to frame comments and suggestions in those more concrete terms. For example, instead of just saying "It'll be more exhilarating this way," he'd say "If you do it this way, the enemy characters will be more reactive, and the player will notice and appreciate their responses." On differences in game development between North America and JapanHe also learned that while differing cultures can see things in different ways, peoples' motivations, and the things that help them feel a sense of accomplishment, are common, and those feelings extend past cultural and national barriers. Tapping into those "universal" feelings can help games in Japan reach out across language and cultural divides to attract global audiences, and vice-versa. One thing he admired about how games are made overseas is the development of what he called "common language". From things like commonly used terms and best practices to management systems that help teams disseminate knowledge about a project to every part of the project, he said that overseas developers (particularly in North America) work to build a common base of knowledge that helps production at every level. Even general things like books on game design (as opposed to programming or 3D graphics) were common and widely used overseas, but rarer in Japan, where oftentimes a developer would create a game starting from first principles. This approach, he said, makes it easier to create titles of great scale and complexity, and with less need for excessive "crunch time". Though he did qualify that these were his experiences from years ago, he still worries sometimes about the state of game development in Japan. While companies like Nintendo and From Software are widely recognized as world-leading developers, there are overall much fewer companies left that can operate on their scale. Many below that scale are now working on smartphone titles, competing in Asia, rather than creating home console and PC games. On righting Fate/Grand Order's shipShiokawa also spoke on his time as consultant, and then Creative Director for Fate/Grand Order. He said that right after FGO launched, he was able to meet with Type-MOON founders Takashi Takeuchi and Kinoko Nasu. He appreciated how serious they were about their creations, and their sincerity, and wanted to work with them. At the time, Delightworks President Shoji had invited him to consult on the game, which was struggling with many issues post-launch. He said that Delightworks was quite small (about 20 people) and was desperately trying to salvage the game's future. In fact, he was hesitant about consulting on the project at first, seeing the level of vitriol online. But after he got some free time, he tried the game out, to see its issues separately from the online criticism, as a new player might. By the time he'd finished summing up the various issues with the game, he had 10 PowerPoint presentations worth of material, full of highlights and suggestions for what to do. The problems with FGO were seen as being so intractable that Delightworks was considering rebooting the game, similar to how Final Fantasy XIV was salvaged into A Realm Reborn. However, Shiokawa said that the general direction of the game wasn't the issue, but rather that the multitude of problems could be solved and steady improvement put into place. He prioritized first fixing issues that could be handled quickly and have a visible, wide-ranging effect. These included things like fixing text, and improving the user interface. These small changes would be seen by players immediately, and help assure them that improvements were incoming. One of the first fixes was ensuring that the rarity of a character was visible on the character's portrait. He even suggested a counter-intuitive course of action, such as prioritizing fixes that people weren't complaining that loudly about immediately. Instead, the issues that got the loudest feedback would have more time spent on them, to ensure that the team could get the fixes right rather than make things worse. Such items included things like combat balance and the strength of enemies. Ultimately, hundreds of small changes were implemented, ranging from corrections to skill descriptions to increasing the size of characters onscreen. Though individually minor, the litany of fixes was long and comprehensive enough that they made the game more satisfactory to actually play, and helping to placate the dissatisfied playerbase. Siliconera Monday, October 31, 2022 11:30 AM In honor of Halloween, Square Enix took to the Japanese Twitter account for FFVII Remake to show Train Graveyard ghosts concept art. The images show some of the ghosts people will encounter while exploring the area. There are also new pictures showing off the Train Graveyard itself. First, here's the official tweet going over the details about the FFVII Remake Train Graveyard and its ghosts. It pointed out that these particular characters can't return to the Livestream as usual, due to Eligor keeping them bound to the place. https://twitter.com/FFVIIR_CLOUD/status/1587006473703260160 The ghosts essentially "guide" the party through the Train Graveyard and act as enemies. They can cast both Reflect and Shield on themselves, to protect themselves from magical and physical attacks. To be more specific, here is the FFVII Remake ghost concept art. This is what a phantom looks like in-game. And here are the Train Graveyard images setting the stage for the location. Earlier in 2022, Square Enix offered a closer look at Eligor. Eligor appeared in the original game as well. It serves as the boss for the area. It's wise to use ice and wind-based spells on it. Also, attempting steal from it is wise in either game. People can get a Striking Staff from it for Aerith in the original, or a Bladed Staff from it for her in the remake. Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on the PlayStation 4, and Intergrade is available on the PlayStation 5 and PC. Siliconera Monday, October 31, 2022 10:30 AM Even more Genshin Impact drip marketing is appearing on Twitter, with the Japanese account revealing the Kaveh voice actor. Yuma Uchida will play the character in-game. His Chinese and English voice actors haven't been revealed yet. Here's the official announcement.
In addition to voicing Kaveh, Yuma Uchida's played many other video game characters over the years. He's best known as Rock Howard in The King of Fighters entries like XV and G'raha Tia in FFXIV. Some of his most recent anime roles include Kyo in Fruits Basket, Kawaki in Boruto, Megumi in Jujutsu Kaisen, and Masaya in Tokyo Mew Mew New. He also is Ultraman Tregear in Ultraman tokusatsu series. Though there are few details about Kaveh just yet, other Genshin Impact Sumeru characters have been chatty when it comes to him. Collei, Cyno, Dori, Nilou, and Tighnari all know him, and he's Alhaitham's roommate. Kaveh is apparently not too happy about that, with both Collei and Tighnari both mentioning how Alhaitham is essentially driving him nuts. Other characters' commentary also point out that Kaveh is an architect. He's best known for the The Palace of Alcazarzaray. That area is already available in-game in the Lokapala Jungle area, not far from the Chatrakam Cave. Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and Kaveh will appear in future updates. Siliconera Monday, October 31, 2022 10:00 AM The Kingdom Hearts Tamagotchi debuted in Japan in October 2022, and the means of getting the Heartless form for Sora appeared. However, it turns out it "ends" the game for people when they do. If someone lets Sora or presumably your active character "die," then they will turn into a Heartless. [Thanks, Aitai Kimochi!] Here's the Aitai Kimochi Twitter video showing off a Sora that turned into a Heartless in the Kingdom Hearts Tamagotchi.
Death is a common fail-state with this kind of virtual pet. It can happen in Tamagotchi runs due to either user-error or old age. Depending on the version you're using, there could be different ending scenes. For example, you might see an angel or a ghost next to a gravestone. It is currently unknown if there are different "death" scenes in the Kingdom Hearts Tamagotchi. The Kingdom Hearts Tamgotchi doesn't just feature Sora. As you play, you might also unlock characters like Donald, Goofy, Riku, Kairi. Roxas, Axel, Xion, Aqua, Ventus, and Terra. There are also themed foods, minigames, and events, with Heartless enemies also appearing to occasionally "attack" your character. The Kingdom Hearts Tamagotchi is available in Japan. A worldwide release hasn't been confirmed yet. The post Sora Turns into a Heartless When He 'Dies' in Kingdom Hearts Tamagotchi appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Monday, October 31, 2022 9:30 AM HoYoVerse revealed all of the Genshin Impact Nahida and Yoimiya banner characters. When update 3.2 is live on November 2, 2022, it will bring the new character and rerun wishes. Both of these will also feature higher odds of getting the four-star characters Bennett, Noelle, and Razor. The new Epitome Invocation weapon banner details also appeared. As is common in-game, now that two character banners are active at once, their focus four-stars are shared. Whether you go for the Nahida banner or Yoimiya one, you could get the Pyro swordsman Bennett, the Geo claymore-wielder Noelle, and the Electro claymore-bearer Razor. All three appeared in Genshin Impact at launch. With the five-stars, you get the option of two ranged characters in Genshin Impact. If people pull on the Yoimiya rerun banner, which previously appeared first in August 2021 and August 2022, they get the Pyro archer. The Nahida banner, meanwhile, brings the first Dendro catalyst user to Genshin Impact. (The only other Dendro characters in-game at the moment are the sword-wielding Traveler and the archers Tighnari and Collei.) As for the Epitome Invocation, five weapons will be featured. The two five-stars are the A Thousand Floating Dreams catalyst and Thundering Pulse bow. People also have a higher chance of getting the four-star Favonius Lance polearm, Rust bow, Sacrificial Greatsword claymore, The Flute sword, and The Widsith catalyst. Genshin Impact is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile devices, and the Nahida and Yoimiya banners will go live on November 2, 2022 alongside 3.2. Siliconera Monday, October 31, 2022 9:00 AM HoYoVerse teased the playable version of Scaramouche (or Wanderer), as well as new Sumeru character Faruzan, are coming to Genshin Impact and both characters will be Anemo. At this point, it is unclear as to what rarities they will be and weapons they will use. However, Wanderer will likely be a 5-star Catalyst user. Faruzan's Constellation is "Flosculi Implexi" or "Entwined Flowers." The bottom of her dress has a stained glass-like pattern. There are also flower decorations on the dress, which are likely a reference to her Constellation. She is an "Enigmatic Machinist" and a "Haravatat Household Name." She is always happy to help students in understanding mechanics, but she dislikes people asking why other academics shun her. https://twitter.com/GenshinImpact/status/1587022828540411904 As for Scaramouche, aka "The Wanderer," his Constellation is "Peregrinus" in Genshin Impact. Though he has a different outfit as a playable character, he has retained his signature big hat. The story will likely explain the circumstances around why he now has an Anemo Vision. Aside from a playable version of the Wanderer, Scaramouche will also be a new weekly boss as of Version 3.2 of Genshin Impact. https://twitter.com/GenshinImpact/status/1587021567929847810 While Faruzan never appeared in the Genshin Impact story, Cyno mentioned her in his voice lines. As the General Mahamatra, he investigated her out of concern that she was conducting dangerous research. He stated that Faruzan is like a "kindly and chatty parent." Scaramouche, on the other hand, appeared multiple times in the story. He debuted in the Unreconciled Stars event in Version 1.1 and is a major antagonist in the Inazuma Archon Quests. Genshin Impact is readily available on PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices, with Version 3.2 launching on November 2, 2022. It is unknown when Faruzan and Wanderer will appear in Genshin Impact. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, October 31, 2022 3:15 PM The DC universe is getting more representation in the free-to-play platform fighter MultiVersus, as Black Adam is finally swooping in after a delay last week. Black Adam is a bruiser and brings some electrifying energy to the table, zapping atom particles and whatnot on his foes. But if you're resistant to the change Black Adam will bring to Multiversus, you can at least strut onto the battlefield in style with some new Space Jam skins for Bugs Bunny and Taz. Black Adam brings his trademark electrical abilities to MultiVersus to help augment his bruiser playstyle. His first ability Lightning Surge will unleash electric energy around him, which shocks enemies and electrifies allies. Aton's Havoc allows Black Adam to grab enemies and shock them with a bolt of lightning, inflicting the Shock ailment on them. Finally, Heru's Flight allows him the ability to fly in any direction. Good or evil? This new content update isn't just introducing a new character. We&... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, October 31, 2022 2:30 PM Remedy Entertainment, the developer behind Control and Alan Wake, has released its latest business review. Alongside the usual revenue statistics, the report confirms that release windows of a few titles. In particular, it confirms that Alan Wake 2 is still set for a 2023 release, and gives updates on the developer's other projects. The report states that "Alan Wake 2 is in the full production stage and the game will be launched as planned in 2023." Since most AAA games get hit with delays these days, it's good to see that Alan Wake 2 is still on track. Alan Wake Remastered also likely improved the size and potential of the series' fanbase. So there's plenty of excitement going around for its sequel. Beyond that, there's no more information for Alan Wake 2 here. But since 2023 isn't far away, we should hopefully hear more soon. Alan Wake 2 is among a bunch of projects Besides Alan Wake 2 and its 2023 release window, the report shed... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, October 31, 2022 1:45 PM Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 fully launched on October 28 along with an array of maps and game modes. As always, there are a lot of weapons for you to unlock, as well as camo challenges to work through. This year, some classic weapons have returned to the franchise, including the M4 and the MP7, which was renamed to the VEL 46. Another weapon you may recognize is the the Ak74-u. Under the assault rifle category, the weapon is known as the Kastov-74u. This class will prepare you for the Kastov-74u, as it has quickly made its way into the meta for close-quarter combat. The launch of Modern Warfare 2 changed the way guns are unlocked. Instead of reaching a certain rank to unlock a gun, you must progress through a weapon tree. To unlock the Kastov-74u, you have to level up the Kastov 762 to level 16 first. This will see you unlock the Kastov 545, which will need to be upgraded to level 13. It may take a while to get your hands on the Kastov-74u, but it will definitely be worth the time. ... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, October 31, 2022 1:30 PM Modern Warfare 2 has arrived and outside of a handful of technical issues, it has had a relatively smooth launch. Some important features are missing but these issues should be fixable with a patch or two. However, what continues to confuse players is that the Museum map from the beta is nowhere to be seen in Modern Warfare 2. In the open beta that ran around a month ago, there were six maps for players to try out. Five of these are present in the full launch as expected, but not all of them made the cut. Last Friday, we noticed the Valderas Museum was not playable in Modern Warfare 2. It isn't in public matches, and it can't be selected in private matches either. An official reason as to why Valderas Museum was cut still hasn't been given. However, we have an idea based on how some of the other maps in Modern Warfare 2 have been handled. The reason that the Museum map isn't in Modern Warfare 2 at launch is likely a legal problem. More specifically, a cop... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, October 31, 2022 1:00 PM Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is here, and Task Force 141 is back in action. The title launched with ten multiplayer maps and a range of new and fan favorite game modes. This year, there are a lot of guns for you to unlock and level up, as well as an array of camos to get your hands on along the way. The VEL 46 is proving to be a solid submachine gun, so its worth building a class to take to Modern Warfare 2's smaller maps. At first glance, you may recognize the VEL 46, as its the MP7 from past Call of Duty titles. It's one of the first weapons you can use when you load into a multiplayer match before you're able to create classes at level 4. The Modern Warfare 2 gunsmith differs to Call of Duty: Vanguard's because you pick five attachments rather than ten. However, there are still a lot of attachments to choose from. It can be hard to know what to use, so this guide has got you covered with the best VEL 46 class. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 VEL 46 cl... |
