Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, April 4, 2025 4:41 AM Prey director is optimistic genAI could help immersive sims by acting like a "Dungeons & Dragons GM" In a recent episode of the Quad Damage podcast, Arkane founder Raphaël Colantonio spoke about his ideas for a new Dishonored game. He, Harvey Smith, and Dinga Bakaba all had their own ideas for a sequel, he said, although the odds of any of them being developed are low as all three devs now work on different projects. Elsewhere on the podcast, the subject turned to Colantonio's thoughts on AI and the future of immersive sims. In short, he sounds optimistic. "If AI could really remember everything, and take meaningful human decisions like a Dungeons and Dragons Gamemaster, then that would actually be very valuable. Things we could not do. There would not be a team that is big enough to do this kind of thing." "One of the things about immersive sims is that we are always trying, either to plan for everything that we think the player might do - and that's authoring, that's painful," Colantonio said. "Or, we're doing a lot of failsafes with systems that somehow fall back on their feet if the player does something we did not plan. There's always some stuff the players do that we haven't planned, so that's why you have the net under. But that net's a little janky. Sometimes it works, sometimes not." |

Voice actress Rie Takahashi will take a short hiatus for surgery on her vocal chords. She will be back in about a month.
Takahashi posted her statement on her X (formerly Twitter) social media account, and you can also read the agency's statement on the 81 Produce website. She assured fans and associates that she's feeling well, and that she's decided to undergo surgery for the future of her voice acting career. The statement from 81 Produce went into a bit more detail about the surgery in question. For a while, Takahashi had been going to a doctor for hoarseness, and the doctor advised her to undergo the surgery.
Voice polyps and nodules are fairly common in voice actors, as well as other careers that focus on speaking for long hours at a time, and so it's not rare for someone to take a hiatus to recover or get surgery. For example, in 2023, Kaito Ishikawa (Dimitri in Fire Emblem: Three Houses) had to undergo surgery, and he also took a month's hiatus from voice-acting work.
Rie Takahashi is a voice actress and singer who started her career around 2013. Some of her major voice-acting roles include Ai Hoshino in Oshi no Ko, Hu Tao in Genshin Impact, Mash Kyrielight in Fate/Grand Order (replacing Risa Taneda), and Emilia in Re:Zero.
Rie Takahashi will go on hiatus for about a month. She should resume her normal work activities in early May 2025.

Luckily, all the materials are available in version 2.2 and can be pre-farmed, so you can level up Zani and her skills as soon as you get her.
Where to farm Zani's ascension and skill materials
LF, MF, HF, and FF Polygon Core
![]()
You can obtain LF, MF, HF, and FF Polygon Core by defeating Clamorlings and Tranquilites enemies, such as:
Other options for obtaining Polygon Cores are to buy them from the Store, open Supply Packs, Weapon Shop, Synthesis, and complete any Forgery Challenge in Rinascita.
Sword Acorus
Sword Acorus is a local specialty item in Rinascita, and you will need it to level up Zani. Ragunna City and Egla Town are the best places to farm this item. You can also buy some Sword Acorus from Rosemary's Apothecary. Since Zani only needs 60 Sword Acorus, one round across the map will be enough for her max ascension.

The Netherworld's Stare

The Netherworld's Stare can be obtained by defeating the weekly boss, Hecate, in Rinascita. You can claim the rewards three times each week, and depending on how many drops you already have, it may take a few weeks to obtain the required amount to max Zani's skills.

The Lab Oven is a crucial item in Schedule 1, as it allows you to take the business to the next level.
The Lab Oven is required in the production of both Meth and Cocaine. This guide will help you to understand everything there's to know about it, which includes how to buy it in the first place.
Table of contents
How to buy the Lab Oven in Schedule 1
As usual, the Lab Oven remains locked at the start, and you'll have to level up by a fair bit. The first step is to gain access to the Warehouse, which happens by completing the main questline. Level up enough, and Uncle Nelson will tell you about the Warehouse.
There are three vendors at the Warehouse, and Oscar will provide you with a Lab Oven. To deal with Oscar (or any of the two other vendors), you'll have to reach there between 6 pm and 6 am. Oscar sells a host of illegal workstations, which includes stuff like the Lab Oven and the Cauldron.
Once you buy the Lab Oven, it will be placed on your hot bar. Go to your base of operations, select the Oven from your hot bar, and place it at a suitable place.
![]()
How to use the Lab Oven in Schedule 1
The Lab Oven is easy to use, as it works with only one ingredient at a time. Once you have produced the raw material for either Meth or Cocaine, add it to your inventory. Select the Lab Oven and open the door. Add the freshly produced raw material to the tray of the Oven and close the door.
You'll have to wait a fair amount of time till the cooking process is over. Once the process is complete, select the oven door and take out the baked product. The item will be presented on a tray; use the hammer to break the items into individual pieces and add them to your inventory.
Once done, go to the Packaging station, where you can add the items to baggies/jars and get them ready for sale. As long as you have the chosen items listed for sale, you'll get plenty of orders from clients.
You can also automate the full process by hiring a Chemist. Chemists typically work on workstations like Lab Ovens and Cauldrons. To complete the packaging process, you'll need to have a Handler who works with Packaging Stations, Brick Press, and more.
As an alternative, you can use the cooked Meth/Cocaine at a Mixing Station to create new strains. You'll need additional Mixers, and the strains created in the process will sell at higher prices. There are plenty of mixes to create, but it's always better to go for the best recipes to increase your profits.

The new characters and rerun banners for the upcoming Wuthering Waves 2.3 and 2.4 updates have been leaked. Luckily, Kuro Games has also confirmed the release of two new Resonators in version 2.3, which matches the leaked info.
Additionally, you can expect some popular characters to get a rerun soon. Read on for more details about the potential Wuthering Waves 2.3 and 2.4 banners.

Wuthering Waves 2.3 banners

Kuro Games has officially revealed that Zani and Ciaccona will be released in version 2.3, which will go live around the last week of April 2025.
According to the drip marketing posts, both are 5-star characters. Additionally, Zani is a Spectro unit that uses Gauntlets as a weapon. Her splash art also shows a version of her without long sleeves, which could be her enhanced mode during combat. Meanwhile, Ciaccona is an Aero unit that uses Pistols.
In addition to these new characters, leaks from reliable sources, such as Stepleaker, suggest that Roccia and Phoebe may get their first rerun banners in version 2.3. Unfortunately, the exact banner order is currently unknown. However, based on the past trends, Zani will likely be in the first phase and Ciaccona in the second phase because of their drip marketing order.
Wuthering Waves 2.4 banner leaks
![]()
Listed below are all the characters expected to be featured on the banners in the Wuthering Waves 2.4 update:
Version 2.4 is expected to release two new characters, namely Cartethyia and Lupa. Most people would already know Cartethyia since she is an important character in the main quest in Rinascita. As per the leaks, Cartethyia is a 5-star Aero unit that uses a Sword, and Lupa is a 5-star Fusion character with a Broadblade. There hasn't been any mention of Lupa in the game as of this writing, so there's no information on her.
Carlotta and Changli are also expected to get rerun banners in Wuthering Waves 2.4. The former is one of the best damage dealers in the game, and it will be her first rerun. Meanwhile, it will be Changli's second rerun, which is pretty surprising because she was in version 2.1. That said, there are rumors about her getting a new skin in version 2.4, so another banner makes sense.
That's all the info we have on Wuthering Waves 2.3 and 2.4 banners. We will update the details if there are any changes in the future. The new characters in these updates are fairly popular, so players won't have to wait long to pull them.

Gacha RPGs keep evolving, and 2025 is packed with top-tier combat, vast worlds, and the thrill of pulling your dream character (without a four-star spook). Whether you crave action, strategy, or deep storytelling, there's something for you. Let's dive into the best gacha RPGs this year.
Best 2025 gacha RPGs to try in 2025
The following list of RPGs are all Gacha games that are among the best in their respective crafts. These are games made with quality in mind and are absolutely worth trying out, even if their genres don't exactly suit your fancy.
Wuthering Waves: A combat and exploration dream
![]()
If Wuthering Waves was an ice cream flavor, it'd be a triple-scoop of slick movement, action-packed combat, and exploration so good you'll forget what you were doing. The game lets you parkour, grapple, and glide your way across a massive open world that begs to be explored. Combat? Chef's kiss. It's fast, fluid, and rewarding, with some of the best combo-based mechanics you'll find in any gacha RPG.
But what really makes WuWa stand out is the devs actually listen to the community—a truly rare sight in the gacha world. The launch had its bumps, but constant updates, especially the 2.0 update, have shaped it into one of the most polished and fun experiences around. If you love action-heavy RPGs with deep, responsive combat, this one is a must-play.
Zenless Zone Zero: Chaotic, stylish, and packed with fun
![]()
Welcome to New Eridu, where you'll be dodging, weaving, and breaking enemies apart in some of the flashiest fights in the genre. Zenless Zone Zero takes the high-octane combat Genshin and Honkai are known for but distills it into a more focused, roguelike-inspired mission system.
Each run is a chaotic blast of fluid combos, stylish finishers, and some of the best-looking characters you'll ever pull. Speaking of which, the character roster? Top-tier. If you love urban fantasy with a cyberpunk aesthetic, a story full of twists, and fights that make you feel like an action movie star, ZZZ is the game for you.
Arknights Endfield: The most unique RPG
![]()
I had the chance to play Arknights Endfield in the last closed beta, and let me tell you: this is unlike any gacha RPG you've played before. Imagine Factorio or Satisfactory, where you build intricate, functional bases, but then combine that with open-world exploration straight out of Xenoblade Chronicles.
Arknights: Endfield is such an ambitious mix, but it works. You get the deep strategy of resource management alongside exciting RPG exploration and combat. The world is mysterious, the gameplay loop is addictive, and with an expected mid-2025 release, this one's going to be a game-changer for the gacha scene.
Girls Frontline 2: XCOM meets gacha
![]()
Want a break from all the action combat? Girls Frontline 2 scratches that strategy RPG itch while still delivering that addictive gacha experience. Think XCOM, but with anime waifus and a deep tactical layer that'll challenge even seasoned players.
Positioning, resource management, and planning ahead are key. if you love games that reward careful decision-making (and you don't mind some occasional gacha pain), this one's for you. Plus, the story is surprisingly deep and dark, making it one of the more narrative-driven gacha RPGs out there.
Genshin Impact: The titan
![]()
At this point, Genshin Impact is basically the Final Fantasy of gacha games—huge, constantly evolving, and packed with content. It's still the gold standard for open-world RPG gameplay in the gacha space, with tons of regions, characters, and stories to dive into.
The combat remains one of the best out there, the lore has gotten richer over the years, and if you can get past the occasional filler content (yes, I'm looking at you, meaningless NPC quests), you'll find a genuinely compelling RPG. With new characters and regions always on the way, Genshin isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
Snowbreak: Containment Zone: Guns, waifus, and sci-fi madness
![]()
Want a third-person shooter gacha instead of the usual sword-swinging and spell-casting? Snowbreak: Containment Zone delivers exactly that. The combat is gun-focused, tactical, and incredibly satisfying, set in a cyberpunk dystopia filled with mechs, monsters, and mayhem.
The character roster is solid, the gunplay is smooth, and while the fanservice is definitely a thing, it doesn't overshadow the fact that this is a genuinely fun and well-made game. If you're into futuristic shooters with a dose of RPG mechanics, you'll have a blast here.
Honkai: Star Rail: The best turn-based gacha RPG
![]()
Turn-based combat fans, rejoice! Honkai: Star Rail is still the king of the genre. It takes everything great about classic JRPGs (deep combat, strategic planning, compelling characters) and gives it a modern, fast-paced twist.
The game keeps expanding with new content, characters, and storylines, and it genuinely feels like playing a high-quality single-player RPG with a gacha element. That said, power creep is starting to become a concern, and duplicate pulls (dupes) are way stronger than they should be. But if you can work around that, Star Rail remains one of the most polished and enjoyable gacha RPGs out there.
Punishing: Gray Raven: High-skill combat with a puzzle twist
![]()
If you love action combat that actually challenges your reflexes and decision-making, Punishing: Gray Raven is a must-play. On the surface, it seems like another flashy action RPG, but underneath is a deeply rewarding combat system that rewards mastery.
Dodging, countering, and combo-chaining are crucial, and while it starts off easy, the deeper mechanics make it one of the most skill-based gachas on this list. Plus, it's free-to-play friendly, making it a great pick if you want a game that doesn't force you to spend.

The Steam Deck is easily the coolest new(ish) way to play video games. And even though it provides users with more than enough of a package by itself, it can naturally get a huge boost with a few add-ons.
Let's look at the best accessories you can get to buff your Steam Deck, shall we?
Table of contents
Best Steam Deck dock: Steam Deck Docking Station (Official)
![]()
Unlike the Nintendo Switch, the Steam Deck doesn't come with a dock right off the gate. That's unfortunate because this is the ultimate Steam Deck accessory if you're looking to expand its capabilities. Another reason why Valve should be selling the Steam Deck with these included is, well, because Valve makes them. I'm not of the mindset you should always go for first-party gear, but Valve's very own option for a dock is the best out there—even if it's not the cheapest one.
If you want to connect your Steam Deck to a TV and make it a full-blown media center, or a surprisingly powerful PC connected to all sorts of gamer accessories, this is the first step on your journey.
Best Steam Deck mouse: Razer Orochi V2
![]()
Even though the Steam Deck offers great and varied built-in options for game control, it's only natural that a PC game would welcome the addition of a mouse and keyboard setup—and the Steam Deck offers that option. If you want to get the best out of the prime PC Gaming experience and have it be as lightweight as possible, you can do no better than the Razer Orochi V2.
This ultra-lightweight mouse offers you incredible precision, as well as a shape that fits with all kinds of grips. If you're very particular about your mouse picks, there might be a mouse best suited for you out there, but I believe this is the one most likely to please the majority of practical gamers.
Best Steam Deck keyboard for gaming: Razer Huntsman mini
![]()
If you truly want the best performance combined with portability, the Razer Huntsman mini is arguably the best pick out there. This is a top performer in the hardcore gamer arena, let alone when it comes to the comfy gamer area that is your lap—or on-the-go desk.
Despite the amazing performance, the Razer Huntsman mini comes with a hefty price tag and doesn't feature a built-in mouse, so let's look at a cheaper and more casual option.
Best casual keyboard for the Steam Deck: Logitech K400 Plus
![]()
If you want something just a little larger in size and utility range, but also much smaller in cost, the Logitech K400 Plus might be the best option for you. For a third of the Huntsman's price, you get a still relatively small and lightweight wireless keyboard that features an excellent mouse pad.
The K400 Plus has been a personal favorite I've been using to control my media center since long before the Steam Deck was a thing, meaning it works perfectly should you want to upgrade Valve's machine into your portable media center.
While the K400+ doesn't boast Razer's incredible responsiveness, it still more than carries its weight when it comes to gaming, and its slender design also makes it incredibly comfortable to write even without a wrist rest.
Best budget controller for the Steam Deck: GameSir Nova Lite controller
![]()
If you're looking for a reliable option you can count on for most gaming escapades, you'll have a hard time finding a better package than the GameSir Nova Lite.
This controller features great ergonomics, is incredibly light, and is also very easy to connect. The only possible caveat is its battery life, though a session of Steam Deck gaming is usually not expected to take as long as a console or desktop one. Unless you're truly hardcore, for just $25, the GameSir Nova Lite is a steal.
Best controller adapter for the Steam Deck: 8Bitdo Wireless USB Adapter
![]()
If you're not going for the best budget controller, the best controller at your disposal is a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S one, depending on your preference. Though those controllers are way more expensive than our top pick, they're only more expensive if they're not something you already own.
To get your PlayStation or Xbox controller to work wirelessly on your Deck, you'll need a USB adapter, and the 8bBitdo Wireless adapter is an excellent pick for an excellent price.
Best screen protector for the Steam Deck: Jsaux tempered glass screen protector
![]()
The first step to take once you get a cool new mobile device—even before you leave the store if you want to treat this device with the care it requires—should be the acquisition of a screen protector. the Jsaux tempered glass screen protection is fantastic and fits the glass of every model perfectly, even though different models have differing screen sizes, the actual glass is always the same size—and it's very easy to apply.
For just $10, the acquisition of this added layer of protection should only come into question if you happen to own Steam Deck's most expensive model, as it negates its cool anti-glare feature. For any other model, however, it's an absolute must-have.
Best power bank for the Steam Deck: Anker Laptop Power Bank, 25,000mAh
![]()
The consensus on the Steam Deck is that it's a great machine, though one lacking in battery life. Though it's completely impossible to come up with a mobile product whose battery life will satisfy hardcore gamers, we can already greatly expand Steam Deck's life expectancy.
For $100, Anker's power bank will grant your Steam Deck about two extra (battery) lives, and will do so at a faster pace than the Steam Deck's base charger. Though relatively expensive, this is a great little gizmo that is equally excellent for charging laptops and mobile phones.
Best Steam Deck backpack: Annapro carrying case
![]()
The Steam Deck is a surprisingly sturdy piece of hardware. It's also a rather expensive one, so you better not be taking any chances when it comes to its safety. The Annapro carrying case is awesome because it provides incredible protection against gravity as well as water, but it also looks incredibly slick. How often can you say that the best vessel to carry and safeguard your stuff is also the coolest one?
The Annapro carrying case earns bonus points for also being perfectly able to fit the Nintendo Switch or the PlayStation Portal, so there's no reason you shouldn't be getting one.
Best SSD for the Steam Deck: WD Black SN770M
![]()
When it comes to extra storage for your Steam Deck, you might have to choose between an SD card and an SSD. An SD card is cheaper and easier to install on the Steam Deck, but it won't feature as much extra space, nor will it work as fast. If you want the best kind of extra storage, you have to go the SSD route. The WE Black is a great option because even though it's a bit on the pricey side, it offers 2TB of extra space—a fantastic amount of extra room.
If the idea of having to install an SSD on your system frightens you, then consider getting the SanDisk Ultra 1.5TB, a Micro SD card that's easy to install, also features nearly as much space, and is way cheaper than the SSD option.

Peyote Plants were originally released as part of the Diamond Casino and Resort update in 2019, and they're seasonal items that pop up in-game every now and then. Here's everything you need to know about how Peyote Plants work in GTA Online.
Table of contents
GTA Online Peyote Plant locations
First off, let's go over where you can actually find these Peyote Plants in GTA Online. They're usually near bodies of water, or just underwater. I've listed all their possible locations below to give you a better sense of where to look:
All creatures you can turn into with the Peyote Plant
If you consume a Peyote Plant in GTA Online, you'll transform into a land animal or a sea creature. Your character will pass out, and you'll respawn as a randomly selected animal. The animal transformation depends on where you picked up the Peyote Plant, though, so if you want a higher chance of becoming, say, a dolphin, your best bet is grab one of the underwater Plants.
Listed below are all of the creatures you can turn into:
When you transform into an animal, the police will leave you alone, allowing you to wreak as much havoc as you want.
Special transformations
In addition to that, there are two special creatures you can transform into if you consume the right Peyote Plant:
Peyote Plant respawn times
Once you consume a Peyote Plant, you can end the transformation anytime. It'll also end if you die, and you'll respawn at the closest hospital with 5,000 RP awarded to you.
Once consumed, a Peyote Plant in that location will respawn after 24 in-game hours.
And that's everything you need to know about the Peyote Plants in GTA Online. Be sure to search up Destructoid for more tips and information on the game, including how to get Hao's Special Works upgrade and how to get yourself some free cars.
