PCGamesN Sunday, July 3, 2022 1:12 PM Fire can be one of the most dangerous forces in Elden Ring, but now a new Elden Ring mod lets you manipulate the flames to your own end in the spirit of firebending from the popular animated TV show, Avatar: The Last Airbender. The mod for the RPG game features a full moveset inspired by the show, and even includes the ability to generate lightning - something typically reserved for only the purest-hearted wielders of the art. The 'Firebending moveset' Elden Ring mod is described by creator Clever, who goes by clevererraptor6 on Nexus Mods, as "a tribute to my favourite childhood show." The mod includes a complete moveset of light, heavy, rolling, sprinting, and jumping attacks - as well as attacks designed to be used from horseback. Using the one-handed moveset will give your character's attacks more range, while the two-handed moveset has slightly more of a melee focus. You can wield the scorching element in just about all the ways you'd imagine, from concentrated jets and sweeping lashes of fire to the ability to fling fireballs from both your hands and feet, just as characters do in ATLA. One really nice attention to detail for fans is the way that most of the moves are built around circular motions, which replicates the movements that firebenders tend to use in the show to draw out their power. PCGamesN Sunday, July 3, 2022 12:53 PM According to developer Innersloth, an Among Us matchmaking fix is "in the works." This comes as a response to complaints about the social deduction game having too many servers dedicated to roleplaying, with no way to tell them apart from regular game servers. In a post titled "about ready to quit" on Reddit, user TheRealDarkloud aired a few grievances, while admitting they are new to Among Us. "Why is it that 3/4ths of the servers are only for roleplayers," one reads, "resulting in people who want to play the game being booted immediately from the lobby?" Developer Innersloth actually replied to answer a few of these criticisms. Regarding the servers, the team says it understands player frustration in this matter. "It's one of those instances where we want to fix the public matchmaking," it states. "This is a larger task than just 'put people together in a lobby at random,' but it's in the works!" PCGamesN Sunday, July 3, 2022 12:01 PM On June 30, Minecraft streamer and YouTuber Alex a.k.a. Technoblade passed away from cancer at the age of 23. Tributes have poured in, including from developer Mojang itself - which has also added a more subtle but sweet memorial to the streamer in Minecraft itself. As spotted by Fortnite leaker Santa 'iFireMonkey' Ricky and shared on Twitter, the header image on the Minecraft launcher has been subtly changed since Technoblade's sad passing on Thursday. There's always been a pig on the top-right of the launcher's image, but now the pig is wearing a crown - which was Technoblade's avatar, both in Minecraft and elsewhere online. PCGamesN Sunday, July 3, 2022 11:48 AM Astonishingly, it's now been seven years since car football game Rocket League came crashing dramatically into our lives, so developer Psyonix is celebrating the game's seventh anniversary with a new limited-time event called Rocket League Birthday Ball. The event is set to last for two weeks and is packed with limited time modes, special challenges, and of course plenty of birthday-themed cosmetics for the free-to-play game. The Rocket League Birthday Ball event is scheduled for July 6 - 19, and is split up into two weeks of distinct events. The first week, July 6 - 13, brings back fan favourite limited-time mode Heatseeker, where two teams of two go head-to-head in a showdown where the ball instinctively homes in on your opponents' goal after you hit it, demanding some real defensive prowess. In the second week, July 13 - 19, players can take part in the Knockout limited-time mode - an arena battle where players must attempt to hurl each other off a series of high platforms using three unique attack, block, and grab skills. It's a very unique way to play Rocket League, and a fantastic opportunity to practice your car combat skills without having to keep track of where the ball's gone bouncing off to. PCGamesN Sunday, July 3, 2022 10:48 AM Upcoming Doom mod Treasure Tech Land is basically Nintendo's Wario Land series as an FPS game - complete with cartoonish colours, treasure hunting, a butt-stomp, and a ridiculously powerful shove ability. Yes, it's basically Wario versus Hell, and you can play a demo of it now. While there are many fantastic Doom mods out there, the ones that leave the biggest impression are the creations that totally change the classic game in unexpected ways - such as turning Doom into Ninja Gaiden, Silent Hill, or Golden Axe. Treasure Tech Land from modder Ultra 64 is a Doom conversion "inspired by the Wario Land franchise." You can try out the original version of the mod here but the final version is looking smoother and more ridiculous - with weapons so powerful they throw both demons and player backward, like the Noisy Cricket in Men in Black. Treasures can be spent in a new upgrade shop to make your abilities more devastating. RELATED LINKS: Doom runs on Twitter, Play Doom |
PCGamesN Sunday, July 3, 2022 10:33 AM There are an outrageously large number of Skyrim mods nowadays, adding everything from 16K dragons to the ability to virtually experience rejection to Bethesda's beloved open-world game. Now, modder DecodinatorX is offering you - yes, you right there - the once in a lifetime opportunity to download and install them into your copy of the RPG game. That's right, thanks to new mod 'A Skyrim follower but he is me' you can now employ DecodinatorX as a voiced follower in your own game. But exactly who is DecodinatorX, I hear you ask? A very fair question, indeed. Just someone on a quest to put themselves "into games that don't need me to be in them," according to their own words. DecodinatorX says that the project is merely a test to see if they can learn how to create themselves in various games. You can find them in the Winking Skeever in Solitude, and while their in-game model might leave a little something to be desired, it's tough to argue that they achieved what they set out to do. Siliconera Sunday, July 3, 2022 4:00 PM Studio Trigger, of BNA, Kill la Kill, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners fame, announced a new Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt anime project at Anime Expo 2022. At its panel on July 2, 2022, the studio showed off a short animated sequence and some art promoting the project. This is the first time official word of a new Panty & Stocking anime production. Back in 2016, when Studio Gainax teased that something was "coming soon." The original series first aired in 2010, with home video releases through 2019. https://twitter.com/GAINAX_WEST/status/802074752122654720 In the time since, most of the Gainax staffers that worked on the first Panty & Stocking anime series have gone on to work with Studio Trigger on various projects. These include Director Hiroyuki Imaishi and Character Designer Atsushi Nishigori. In the meantime, Gainax West sold lines of merchandise and opened a Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt theme café in Kobe's now-defunct Kobe Anime Street space. Besides the short animated clip and some art of the Anarchy Sisters Panty and Stocking, not much else was shown of what's currently called "New Panty & Stocking" at Anime Expo 2022. Trigger did not confirm if the series will continue the original or reboot it somehow. The series gained notoriety as the first project by Imaishi and Gainax following the popular Gurren Lagann series. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt stars the two titular fallen angels and their reverend caretaker. Kicked out of heaven for overindulgence in mortal sin, the pair live in Daten City, cleansing it of evil spirits in the hopes of buying their way back into heaven. Of course, their obsession with sex and sweets tends to get in the way of this goal. The series was conceptualized by Gainax staffer Hiromi Wakabayashi, who was inspired by American adult animation shows like 2004's Drawn Together. It also took stylistic cues from popular American cartoons like The Powerpuff Girls, and featured a high-quality soundtrack featuring contemporary acts like TeddyLoid, Taku Takahashi, Booty Bronx, and more. The new Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt anime is in development. The original series can be seen on Crunchyroll. Siliconera Sunday, July 3, 2022 3:00 PM I always have certain concerns about PC games heading to consoles. They're designed to be played right up close, so someone can analyze everything. These sorts of titles may be created with a keyboard and mouse in mind. They're text-heavy affairs. All three points are ones that might cause concern when on a big screen in a living room. After spending hours with Shadowrun Trilogy on the PS5, which consists of Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun Dragonfall, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong, I was pleasantly surprised by how perfectly all three fit on the system. As the name suggests, all three entries in this collection are Shadowrun games set in a futuristic, cyberpunk world that is filled with both technology and magic. People are as likely to encounter an elf or orc as they are a human being. Each installment features its own campaign set within the world. Players create a character using one of the five races (which also include dwarves and trolls) and can go with a certain "archetype" that acts as something of a class for their avatar. In each case, this Shadowrunner gets involved in events that might start out personal. Perhaps a former acquaintance is killed, making their dead man's switch go off, and avenging them gets them an insurance payout. Maybe an estranged father gets in touch, but find the Hong Kong police are involved. There could be a heist gone wrong. In each case, there's a domino effect that gradually increases the scale of things as time goes on. Just in general, Shadowrun Trilogy looks good on a PS5. The UI for the PC version was solid and offered all the necessary details. This remains true for the games on consoles. It's also especially easy to act in battles. All of the skills you might need to use are clearly displayed. Icons are descriptive. It's easy to move on the field, so there's no need to worry about inadvertently making a major tactical error. It is comfortable. Which, I suppose is telling about the games in general. They were so well-crafted to begin with that there's an easy transition. I was also incredibly impressed that, well, I could actually read everything in all three games in the PS5 version of Shadowrun Trilogy. Which is very reassuring, given what a text-heavy game it is. Not to mention the absence of voice acting to fall back on. The use of colors made everything quite clear. The font used is a very legible one. The size is adequate. Even when there is an accent color to call attention to certain text, it felt like it was very legible in every game. Given how often I have trouble even reading text in Switch titles in handheld or TV mode, it felt so reassuring for everything to be that crisp. I was also so happy with how well Shadowrun Trilogy controls on the PS5. I mean, there's no reason it shouldn't, when you think about it. Exploring the isometric world is simple enough. Interacting with things only takes a click of a button. But I think I was most concerned about the strategic battles going into it. I was curious how well it would handle implementing certain skills and ensuring the fights would work well. But I didn't need to be. Everything is so intuitive and works perfectly with the DualSense. I suppose it shouldn't be too surprising that Shadowrun Trilogy does fit so well on the PS5. Still, I was delighted nonetheless after playing some of each entry. The fact that they all are so clear, with the UI and controls adapting so well, is heartening. It means that these classic RPGs fit perfectly and work well. Sure, a console version means you can't go through the custom campaigns people made for the PC version. But there's something so satisfying about Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun Dragonfall, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong being good-to-go on a rainy or over 100-degree summer day. Shadowrun Trilogy is now available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. All three of its games are also available on PCs. People can find Shadowrun Returns and Shadowrun: Dragonfall on mobile devices as well. The post Shadowrun Trilogy Fits Perfectly on the PS5 appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Sunday, July 3, 2022 2:00 PM People got their first look at a teaser trailer for Trigun Stampede, the upcoming Trigun anime series, at Anime Expo 2022. The trailer was shown at a special panel for the project hosted by Toho and Studio Orange. Manga Creator Yasuhiro Nightow, Character Artist Kouji Tajima (Gantz: O) and Producers Kiyotaka Waki and Yoshihiro Watanabe (Godzilla: Singular Point and Beastars) were in attendance. The series will simulcast on Crunchyroll globally when it airs in 2023 [Thanks, ANN!]. Check out the Trigun Stampede trailer below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bL9RH6kItM The Trigun Stampede trailer, produced by Studio Orange, shows a different vision of Trigun. The series appears to be a reboot of the original story, taking place at an earlier point in Vash the Stampede's career. For one, the bounty on his head is just $$6 million double dollars, rather than the $$60 billion it was in the original series and manga. The trailer is also more explicit about Vash's backstory, showing him, his brother Knives, and their caretaker Rem. The 1998 anime series referred to Vash's past only indirectly until its final episodes. Vash himself also looks quite different, with his double-breasted red duster reimagined as a more modern hooded coat. His revolver as well, looks less like a realistic weapon, now packing eight shots in the cylinder and having the appearance of a large, blocky hand cannon. Along with the trailer, Orange revealed key staff members on the project. Kenji Mutou, who worked on Beastars, Land of the Lustrous and Cavity Express, will direct the show. Character Designer Kouji Tajima, who worked on the Attack on Titan live-action adaptations, Gantz: O, and Harlock: Space Pirate, is credited as providing the character concept and other concept art for Trigun Stampede. Some members of the Trigun Stampede voice cast were detailed, as well.

Siliconera Sunday, July 3, 2022 1:00 PM Nihon Falcom released a short trailer for the upcoming Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki II Crimson SiN. At just under a minute long, it consists of both story and combat scenes. You can see how the game looks during exploration segments, as well as how the various party members' abilities look in combat. The story follows a murder case in Calvard in which someone witnesses Grendel at the scene. Though Van will be the main character again, the trailer emphasizes Elaine's role too, such as showing how you can control her as you explore the overworld. Characters like Rion, Celis, and Shizuna also appear. You can watch the trailer for Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki II Crimson SiN here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ4jL0ijOgg Nihon Falcom announced the sequel in early June 2022, with some information on how it will play. Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki first appeared in Japan in 2021, with a PS5 release scheduled for July 28, 2022. Protagonist Van is a member of the Arkride Solutions Office, which is an underground business in Calvard that takes on odd jobs such as detective work or bounty work. The story starts with Agnes Claudel asking him to look for an orbment her great-grandfather left her. Legend of Heroes; Kuro no Kiseki II Crimson SiN will come out on September 29, 2022 in Japan for the PS4 and PS5. Siliconera Sunday, July 3, 2022 12:00 PM The Bleach gang is back, or at least, that's the impression the new trailer for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War gave off. Shown off at Anime Expo 2022 during Viz Media's panel, the video highlights the combatants participating in the manga's concluding story arc. The new series debuts in October 2022 [Thanks, ANN!]. Check it out below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sygUhb8Q2Y Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War adapts the last story arc of the Bleach manga, which was never covered in the anime. The trailer opens with a recitation of the prophecy of "The Confined Quincy King," referring to the foretold revival of Ywach, the ancient king of the Quincy civilization. The Quincy are the people which Bleach character Uryu Ishida is descended from, a group of humans with powers that rival those of Soul Reapers. The trailer then transitions into a montage of many of the characters present in the arc, including the Captains of Soul Society's Gotei 13, and members of the Quincy's elite Stern Ritter. Characters who previously did not appear in an anime adaptation like Bambietta Basterbine, Bazz-B, Jugram Haschwalth, Asguiaro Ebern, Quilge Opie, and Ywach himself will make their debut in Thousand-Year Blood War. Check out some key art from the panel featuring fighters on both sides. In a recorded message, Bleach creator Tite Kubo confirmed that he's involved with all aspects of the anime production. He said that they're working on covering some material, such as battles and scenes he couldn't get into in the manga, with the anime adaptation. The Viz Media panel also confirmed key staff positions for the project at Studio Pierrot, which is animating it. Tomohisa Taguchi, who worked on Akudama Drive and Kino's Journey - The Beautiful World, will direct the show. He'll work on scripts too, alongside Masaki Hiramatsu. Character designs and music will once again be provided by Masashi Kudo and Shiro Sagisu, respectively. Most of the voice cast is also returning, though Binbin Takaoka will play Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto. Yamamoto's original voice actor Masaaki Tsukada died in 2014. Some newer voice roles for characters from the Soul Society Royal Guard, Stern Ritter, and others were cast for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is in production. It will air in October 2022. The original series is available on Crunchyroll and other platforms for streaming, while the manga is published by Viz Media in English. Bleach: Brave Souls is available on PS4 and mobile devices. Siliconera Sunday, July 3, 2022 11:00 AM It took a while, but the Macross franchise is ready to bear fruit for its overseas fans. Roughly 18 months after companies Bigwest, Studio Nue, and Harmony Gold USA struck a deal to permit the worldwide release of Macross properties, officially licensed and localized releases of four Macross anime series will soon go on sale. The announcements came via Bigwest's panel at Anime Expo 2022. The announcement covers four Macross anime series: 1992's Macross II: Lovers Again, 1994's Macross Plus, 2008's Macross Frontier, and 2016's Macross Delta. Collectively these series have been out of print in English (Macross Plus, Macross II) or simply never made it out of Japan officially (Macross Delta, Macross Frontier). Now that Bigwest controls licensing for the franchise, it has picked new localization and distribution partners. Anime Limited will release Macross Plus on Blu-ray in North America and Europe, while AnimEigo will release Macross II on Blu-ray in the same territories. Nozomi Entertainment will handle Blu-ray releases of the Macross Frontier and Macross Delta anime series. Macross II: Lovers Again is a six-episode OVA set 80 years after the events of the original Macross series. The anime was originally produced by Bigwest independently in 1992 after Studio Nue opted not to create a sequel to the first Macross series. After Studio Nue changed its mind and produced Macross Plus, the events of Macross II were rendered "non-canonical", although the franchise tends to treat continuity as more of a suggestion than a rule. The story focuses on a reporter, Hibiki, who rescues Ishtar, a singer from an alien race called the Marduk. The Marduk are at war with humanity, but are seemingly immune to the song-based "Minmay Attack" strategy that was so successful against the Zentradi. Macross Plus is a four-episode OVA set 30 years after the original series. It takes place on the planet Eden, and involves the testing of a new generation of variable fighter for the U.N. Spacy military. Two test pilots, the hotshot human Isamu Dyson and the cold and calculating half-Zentradi Guld Goa Bowman pilot competing fighters in a rivalry to win the contract. They're also competing over the affection of their mutual friend, Myung Fang Lone. Macross Frontier takes place onboard the Frontier, a super long-range colonization fleet. There a young trainee named Alto Saotome and his friend Ranka Lee bump into the "Galactic Fairy", superstar singer Sheryl Nome. Sheryl's concert is attacked by a new alien race called the Vajra, and emotions run high as the trio form a complicated relationship. The Macross Frontier series was redone as a movie duo in 2009 and 2011. Macross Delta is set in a remote region of the galaxy, where Var Syndrome, a disease that causes violent rampages, threatens the populace. Key to stopping the spread of Var Syndrome is the Tactical Sound Unit Walkure, which travels around to suppress the symptoms with idol-style performances. Macross anime series are available on various platforms. The announced series do not have a release window set, but are expected sometime in 2022 or 2023. The original 1982 Superdimension Fortress Macross series is on some streaming platforms, such as Amazon Prime Video and Vudu.
