Intro – Lance
The AI world’s big “will they or won’t they” watch party ended this week when Apple officially selected Google Gemini as its AI partner, agreeing to use Gemini models in its own foundation models, and essentially use that as the basis for Siri’s long-awaited AI brain transplant. Exactly how this will manifest, and what it will mean for the next version of iOS, is unknown right now.

It was such big news that Team TechRadar couldn't stop talking about it, and we made it a big focus of our most recent podcast (good listening, if I do say so myself).

We’ve also hazarded a guess at what the new Siri personalization might look like, and it’s all based on the latest Gemini update that rolled out this week.

Over in computing land, we’ve been taking some long looks back, recalling at what Steve Jobs wrought with the first Mac Mini, and having a good time digging up some epic tech fails.

Out in the real world, we’re trying to get our fit bods back after the long holiday break. How’s it going, you ask? Not too bad, since we’ve been following all the guidance embedded in our Get Fit for ‘26 series. I’ve been firing up new apps, getting advice on using my Oura Ring to help me sleep better, and wondering whether I need one of those new-fangled, digitally-enhanced rowing machines.

I plan to catch up on Apple TV’s Pluribus this weekend, but I know that there are some other options competing for your attention, like that Game of Thrones prequel – see our weekend round-up for that and more streaming suggestions. I won’t be watching any new Star Wars content for while, because most of the recent stuff has been pretty blah – although that might finally be about to change.

Enjoy your weekend (and your exercise), and we’ll see you next week!
