PCGamesN Monday, March 11, 2024 3:12 PM Multiversus has followed a strange road to its final launch. The free-to-play cartoon fighting game garnered immediate attention for its vibrant visual style and a wide-ranging cast of recognizable characters. It seemed set to take a place next to fighters like Brawlhalla or Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl when it came out in an open beta in 2022, but its reputation (and player count) soon took a hit due to lackluster seasonal updates and its implementation of microtransactions. When the open beta ended last year, despite earlier statements that it would run through to the game's final launch, players were further incensed that they'd spent money on in-game items that would now be lost. Now, with all of this baggage attached, Multiversus is set to come out once again. PCGamesN Monday, March 11, 2024 3:14 PM The first Far Cry game was something of a blank slate. Created by Crytek, the studio that would go on to make the Crysis series and Hunt: Showdown, 2004's Far Cry was more of a proof of concept than anything else. Far Cry 2, the sequel from Ubisoft Montreal, ended up a much more confident game when it launched in 2008, outlining a future identity for the long-running action series while also establishing a grimy anti-war vision of its own that none of the subsequent entries have quite been able to match. PCGamesN Monday, March 11, 2024 12:25 PM The use of micro OLED in virtual or augmented reality headsets isn't anything new, technically, but it's not a widely adopted feature just yet. It is, however, expected to be the next logical move, and of all the companies you would expect to provide the expertise and final product, it's Samsung who appears to be stepping up. PCGamesN Monday, March 11, 2024 12:14 PM It's not the fault of Diablo 4, Last Epoch, or Path of Exile. Some tropes, no matter how fussy or fiddly, die hard, and for decades now the classic RPG game has been built around - for better or worse - a big, tricky inventory system. Skyrim has one. Fallout has one. Hotkeys help, but with so many crafting and customization options, it takes a long time to find precisely the doohickey you need. Taking this tentpole of the RPG genre as its inspiration, one new indie game has exploded on Steam. PCGamesN Monday, March 11, 2024 1:24 PM What are the best JRPGs? JRPGs are, nowadays, at least, subtly different from Western RPGs, and while the genre as a whole has evolved since the early days, JRPGs tend to keep things on the classic side. Think parties of interesting characters, deep, long stories, and lots of grinding. Some of the newer JRPGs on this list abandon traditional fantasy in favor of a more realistic setting, but the classic style, at least when we think of JRPG, conjures up images of mages, ferocious monsters, and a top-down perspective. Either way, these JRPGs bring a different flavor than what you can expect from the best RPGs in the West and could be considered some of the best PC games to fans of the genre. PCGamesN Monday, March 11, 2024 10:50 AM Official Colossal Order and Paradox support for Cities Skylines 2 mods sounds like it won't arrive any time soon, despite previous suggestions that the city building sequel won't get a true, new modding platform in early 2024. While Cities Skylines 2 mods are available already, and players have benefitted from changes and optimizations to road building, traffic, population, the economy, and more, the current crop of CS2 mods are only accessible and creatable through third-party means. Likewise, there are still no official platforms for making and sharing custom Cities Skylines 2 assets. Considering how important mods have been to the longevity of the original Cities Skylines, and anticipation about the state of the sequel after a troubled launch, official CS2 mod support is very eagerly awaited. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, March 11, 2024 12:36 PM I didn't really know anything about Moomins going into adventure game Snufkin: Melody Of Moominvalley, besides that their heads always looked palatable to me - like bleached kidney beans. Plus the Moomin merch I'd seen over the years in official Moomin shops or the odd gift store was delightful, so if someone had rocked up with a pencil case adorned with Moomin heads back in school, you bet I would've been jealous. And having finished the game, I'm unsure whether I've truly learned any more about the Moomins and their friends. But then again, I've come away thinking that it's a pleasant universe to spend a few hours in, where the wild is celebrated with rebellious song. In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to forget about the calming, therapeutic qualities of a nice walk around nature. While you're probably going to still be at home on the couch while playing Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley, this cute and pastoral game reminds you of what's really important in life: Mother Nature.
Now, as a disclaimer, I didn't know anything about Moomin going into this. I knew what Moomin are, as well as seen plenty of Moomin goods. But I'm still not sure if I know much, to be honest. In any case, Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley wears its message on its sleeve.
It starts with Snufkin leaving Moominvalley to travel and then returning during the summer. However, to his shock, Moomintroll isn't waiting for him as promised and the river is all dried up! It turns out a Park Keeper and his little squadron of police officers have erected parks all around Moominvalley, as well as constructed a dam. That's terrible because parks mean rules, and rules don't belong in nature. Snufkin has to help out the various members of the community, find Moomintroll, and save the beautiful valley from the evils of establishment.
While it may sound like I didn't like the story, I did! It was really quaint and sweet, even if I didn't recognize anybody I was talking to save for Little My and Moomintroll. This game is great for existing Moomin fans, as well as newcomers. Playing it did make me curious about the books and other related media. This idea of a community banding together, even if most of the residents are reluctant to do so, to fight against a government body—a government body that turns out to genuinely want to do good for the locale they serve—is a classic underdog story, and Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley executed it very well.
As Snufkin, you wander around Moominvalley in search of Moomintroll. You can help out the residents to gather inspiration, which will level up your music. Snufkin can play three different instruments, and each one does something different. For example, the flute can calm down hostile creatures and the harmonica can help to make animals do his bidding. There are also stealth portions where Snufkin has to sneak around parks while avoiding the police officers so that he can vandalize the place and get rid of them. The game isn't very hard, which makes it a nice one to relax to. My biggest complaint is that the navigational sign at the bottom to tell you where to go for your quest doesn't always work. But I think that the map layout is a bit quirky for the compass-style in-game navigation. Fortunately, you can pull out the map at any time.
The best thing about this game is the art direction and aesthetic. I love it. It really has that picture book vibe with the art style and the coloring. There are some points around Moominvalley where Snufkin can just lie down and take in the flowers, or the way that the sunlight becomes dappled when it shines through tree leaves. These scenes are so lovely and they're a delight to encounter. However, they do not provide much in terms of gameplay value. This is kind of weird, considering Snufkin can get inspiration from running through bushes and helping the residents of Moominvalley. From a narrative standpoint, I can get it though. The point is to enjoy nature. Not everything has to be for "profit." Nonetheless, I wish there were more of these spots in the game.
Whether you're a Moomin master or novice, Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley is a relaxing game to re-ignite your passion for the outdoors. The game itself is not difficult—a kid could beat it within a day—and it's not very long either. Despite the game being a bite-sized adventure, it feels like one that'll stay with you for a very long time.
Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley is readily available for the Windows PC and Nintendo Switch.

The Japanese voice actresses behind Lucky Star and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya appeared for a reunion in an event held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of both franchises. Kadokawa is holding the SOS Appreciation Festival featuring both franchises in Saitama, Japan. The festival's main highlight is a premium stage event hosting the voice actress reunions, which was held on March 10, 2024. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
Aya Hirano was the main star of the day, as she was the voice actress behind both titles' protagonists—Konata Izumi and Haruhi Suzumiya. The Lucky Star event ran first at 1:30 PM, and Kaori Fukuhara (Tsukasa Hiiragi), Emiri Kato (Kagami Hiiragi), and Aya Endo (Miyuki Takara) completed the main quartet. Minori Chihara (Yuki Nagato) and Yuko Goto (Mikuru Asahina) later joined Hirano in the Haruhi event that ran at 6:30 PM.
While an image on the webpage also features Tomokazu Sugita and Daisuke Ono—the respective voice actors for Kyon and Itsuki in the Haruhi series, they did not appear in person at the stage event. The male voice actors joined the reunion via a pre-recorded session aired during the live stream.
An archived version of the premium live stream is still available to watch until March 17, 2024. People who are residing in Japan can purchase tickets to gain access to one of the two separate shows on Streaming+ and Niconico, with prices starting from 4,400 yen (~$29.95).
Most people will remember Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star for their anime shows that started airing in 2006 and 2007, respectively. Kadokawa used the titles' original debuts in printed media to mark their 20th anniversaries. The first Haruhi Suzumiya light novel launched in June 2003, while Lucky Star originated as a manga series that ran from December 2003. The latter manga has had its serialization resumed in MITAINA! magazine in November 2022. The most recent Volume 5 came out on February 14, 2024.
The SOS Appreciation Festival's Premium Stage Event, which features the reunion of voice actresses from Lucky Star and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya to celebrate the 20th anniversary of both titles, was held on March 10, 2024. The general event is still running in Tokorozawa Sakura Town in Saitama, Japan, until March 24, 2024.

It was officially announced that Dragon Ball Daima is set to air on Fuji TV in Japan starting Fall 2024. This news comes a few days after the announcement of Akira Toriyama's passing. [Thanks, Comic Natalie!]
Fuji TV held an online presentation on YouTube titled "Fuji TV Anime Lineup Presentation 2024" and featured Dragon Ball Daima at the event as their final announcement. Masako Nozawa, the Japanese voice actor of Son Goku, was there at Fuji TV's presentation to reveal plans to air the upcoming anime on Fuji TV as well as give a speech about the impact the Dragon Ball franchise and Toriyama have had on the world. Nozawa ended her speech with Goku's iconic "Kamehameha" line and pose while wearing a Capsule Corporation jacket.
Dragon Ball Daima has been developed as the 40th anniversary work of the Dragon Ball franchise, and features new character designs by Toriyama as well as an episode written by him. In the show, Goku and his friends have been transformed into younger versions of themselves, and Goku must travel to new worlds to find a way to reverse the change as well as face off a new threat. It was revealed at New York Comic Con 2023 that the show would air in Fall 2024, but no television network was announced at the time.
It has been six years since the last Dragon Ball anime series aired. Dragon Ball Super ran for five seasons and ended back in 2018. Other new and upcoming Dragon Ball media includes Dragon Ball Z Kakarot which received a new DLC pack featuring a storyline focused on Goku and Uub, Dragon Ball Fighter Z which received PS5 and Xbox Series X ports in February 2024, and Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero which is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in the future.
Dragon Ball Daima is set to release on Fuji TV in Fall 2024.

The Blue Archive anime adaptation's exact release date is set, and character PVs for the main cast appeared. It will air in Japan starting on April 7, 2024, though no simulcast announcements have been made for it yet.
Here's the official social media announcement, which included another look at the key art for the show. The adaptation will be covering the story of the first arc of the game. That's the "Foreclosure Task Force." It features the Abydos High School Countermeasures Committee characters as its stars. From left to right in the art, they are Ayane Okusora, Shiroko Sunaookami, Nonomi Izayoi, Hoshino Takanashi, and Serika Kuromi.
We already had some idea that the show would appear in April 2024, but didn't know exactly when. Nexon and Yostar confirmed that back in January 2024. That was the first real update since the show's initial January 2023 reveal. Since then, we've seen some fairly regular trailer releases introducing the heroines.
For example, here's one showing Shiroko.
Hoshino showed up in one after that.
We got to see more of Serika in February 2024.
Nonomi's PV also appeared at the end of February.
Finally, the most recent Blue Archive character trailer focused on Ayane.
The Blue Archive anime will begin on April 7, 2024, and the game is available on Android and Apple iOS devices.

Ahead of the combined FFXIV Little Ladies' Day and Hatching-Tide, Square Enix showed off the new Peatie mount. People earn the Peatie Horn that unlocks it by going through the new "The Princesses and the Eggs" quest.
The announcement didn't include a trailer showcasing the new mount's animations. However, there are a series of screenshots highlighting the special animation it can perform when in use. It also confirmed that this is a "tame" version of the different kinds of Goobbue that can appear as an enemy in FFXIV.
Here's the full gallery of images Square Enix shared with us highlighting the FFXIV Peatie mount. Basically, the mount can create three eggs with bunnies in them, and it will hold a glowing, decorated egg in its hands when it does. However, they don't stick around long, as they all fade once the egg in Peatie's hands explodes into colorful fireworks and egg designs.
The company also clarified when decoration swill appear in residential districts. The Little Ladies' Day ones will show up between March 14-22, 2024. After that, the Hatching -tide ones will appear between March 22, 2024, and then end on April 1, 2024. Photos of both displays were shared as well.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC, with the Xbox Series X version launching on March 21, 2024. In an interview with Game Informer, Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed the PC version is in development and will involve a demo. As a reminder, the original PS5 release of FFXVI also involved a demo. [Thanks, Game Informer!]
Yoshida noted that work on the PC version is in the "final stages of optimization." He did confirm that a demo will be available for people to try. The interview didn't note if it will be identical to the trial version for the PS5 and have save data that will carry over. However, he did tease a release window. When discussing when more announcements will come from Square Enix, he told Game Informer, "…it won't be a year, it won't be two years, it will probably be shorter than that."
We've known Square Enix is working on a PC version of this entry for a while. Back before its release, marketing in November 2022 noted it would be exclusive to the console for at least six months. Then about six months later in May 2023, Yoshida noted a PC version would appear. DLC and PC news was also teased for that year.
More news about the Leviathan DLC will arrive soon, however, Square Enix confirmed there will be a PAX East 2024 panel with announcements about the add-on.
Final Fantasy XVI and its demo are currently available for the PS5, and a PC version is in development.

Earlier in March 2024, Square Enix teased a The First Take Final Fantasy VII Rebirth appearance, and now the Loren Allred and Nobuo Uematsu full performance of the FFVII remake trilogy song "No Promises to Keep" is live. Allred sings, Uematsu plays the piano, and Uematsu's band conTIKI offers support in the video.
As a reminder, Nobuo Uematsu composed this Final Fantasy VII Rebirth theme song, with Allred performing it "in character" as Aerith as the theme song for the new FFVII game. People can hear it in-game at the Gold Saucer during a performance of Loveless.
Here's the full performance of "No Promises to Keep." While this is a Japanese YouTube channel, Allred performs the English version of the song.
It isn't uncommon for The First Take to feature songs from from games or anime series. The One Piece anime opening "We Are One" appeared on the channel. Naruto Shippuden's theme song "Sign" showed up too. Even Hololive Vtuber Hoshimachi Suisei showed up there. She performed "Stellar Stellar" the first time, then returned with "Michizure."
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available on the PS5, with the exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024. FFVII Remake is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC.
