Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, October 15, 2025 9:00 AM ![]() The best thing about the ROG Xbox Ally X is that it finally acknowledges the truth – a truth that, despite continued denials by device after device, at least partly accounts for why the little old Steam Deck still rules the world of handheld PCs despite being slower and lower-rez than almost everything that followed it. You know it, I know it, and at last, Microsoft know it: Windows 11 just isn't that good as a handheld OS. Thus, the biggest upgrade that the ROG Xbox Ally X – and its little brother, the ROG Xbox Ally – makes is not to its hardware, but the software. Instead of booting straight into the Windows 11 desktop, a miserable experience when your only navigational tools are thumbsticks and a touchscreen, it defaults to a far more gamepad-optimised (and specifically gaming-focused) 'Xbox' mode that provides quick, D-paddable access to your choice of launchers and the games installed within. Furyu revealed its new Hatsune Miku figure on social media, and it is a Snow Miku variant of the character in dressed in a gothic lolita dress and paired with the Sanrio mascot Kuromi. It will be a prize figure found in Japanese arcades. The company also noted it will release in February 2026. Its products do tend to eventually appear outside Japan, with companies like Crunchyroll selling them.
While it will be a while before the item releases, this Hatsune Miku figure is rather far along in development. The three sample photos show a fully painted collectible. This Snow Miku figure is wearing a black and purple dress that matches Kuromi's outfit, and it has a tie with her pink skull and hair accessory shaped like the Sanrio character's ears. There's no size mentioned for it. We do know that Tatejima Uri provided the concept art for its design, and this is the first time the artist's work ended up being used to create a figure.
Here's how the new Hatsune Miku and Kuromi figure looks so far:

This is one of two figures pairing up the characters that is on the way. Good Smile Company is also developing one. That isn't a prize figure, so it will likely be more expensive. It also features Hatsune Miku in a more traditional version of her Snow Miku outfit. There's no exact release window for it, but we last saw it in June 2025.
The Furyu Snow Miku Kuromi figure will show up in Japan starting in February 2026.

Eggs have been a focal point of the Pokémon series over the years (who can forget Nurse Joy!), but there's bad news if you're trying to do the same in Pokémon Legends ZA.
Having started the game, you might be wondering if you can hatch new monsters from eggs. This is an excellent way to power up your party with new members. Sadly, I am afraid that Gamefreak hasn't added one of the core features that could have made our lives easier.
Does Pokémon Legends ZA have eggs
Eggs don't exist in any shape or form in Pokémon Legends ZA. If you've been trying to find them hard just like me, I am afraid you won't find any. This will be a significant contrast for those who have spent hours trying to breed the perfect Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet.
While Scarlet and Violet aren't the best titles if you consider the fun from breeding new monsters, they at least offered the feature. The developers seem to have opted for a different path with ZA. This automatically means that there is no breeding system at launch.
![]()
Can you breed in Pokémon Legends ZA
Due to the lack of any eggs, you can't breed directly in the game. However, you can breed your desired Pokémon in the games like Scarlet and Violet and then use it in ZA. This is quite possible, but you should keep certain pointers.
If you still want to mix-max your squad and get an advantage in battles, your only option is to boot up an older game with breeding, and then transfer your creation with Pokémon Home.

Microsoft, in its continued efforts to turn anything into an Xbox, partnered with ASUS for a branded ROG Ally handheld gaming PC, and it's officially out tomorrow. But is it worth it?
I think that depends on quite a few factors, such as budget, what other handhelds you have (if any), and if you're looking to upgrade. At a hands-on event in Manhattan last week, I got some time to test out both the suped-up ROG Xbox Ally X and the base version ROG Xbox Ally, and I came away more impressed with the pricier model. But that doesn't mean the cheaper one should be ignored entirely.
![]()
For frame of reference, my experience with recent gaming handhelds includes the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch 2. With that in mind, I think that the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X feels like the one to go for if you're looking for the real deal when it comes to high-end PC handheld gaming, and it's the one I came away most interested in after some hands-on time with both devices.
It's shockingly light for the power that it holds, and it's the most ergonomic and comfortable handheld gaming device I've used, especially when compared to the Steam Deck or Switch 2. The grooved handles are shaped just like an actual Xbox controller, so the ROG Ally X mostly just feels like one of those, but with a big screen in the middle. It feels ripe for long play sessions without getting uncomfortable or having crampy hands, like so often happens with the Switch 2 for me.
As a Steam Deck user, I'm most likely to pick up the ROG Xbox Ally X over the base ROG Xbox Ally because the jump in power feels noticeable, whereas the base model feels similar to the Steam Deck when it comes to running and playing games. With the power cranked up on the Ally X, I was able go play titles like Gears of War: Reloaded and Doom: The Dark Ages at very high fidelity and buttery smooth frame rate.
Lowering the wattage significantly hampers graphical quality and how the game runs in general, but the battery lasts longer, and so that will likely be how most gamers play. Plugging the system into a power supply will be your best bet for performance, but unless you're a bed-rotting gamer like me, that won't be a huge selling point.
The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X feels strong enough to warrant the increased purchase price, but only for the most dedicated and hardcore. It boasts a stronger CPU, battery, and more RAM than the base model, which is mostly meant to be an entry point for console gamers looking to get into the PC handheld space, and specifically those with Xbox libraries to have playable immediately. The physical differences between the devices are negligible, other than the colorway and the X being a few grams heavier.
![]()
For Xbox players, the interface, controls, and everything about the device will be immediately familiar. The UI is very similar to what you'd find on an Xbox Series X or Series S, including a dedicated Game Pass tab, Xbox store, Cloud Gaming, and a library tab where you can find your games.
But even if you're not the most dedicated Xbox gamer, these handhelds both support multiple libraries for PC games, such as Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and others, meaning you can load these things up with whatever you already own (digitally) on top of things like Cloud streaming via Game Pass.
This sort of stuff makes the ROG Xbox Ally X even more enticing for PC enthusiasts who may already have dozens or more games on these launchers, ready to go for the handheld world.
This sort of thing is already possible on existing handhelds, like the Steam Deck and the ROG Ally of the past, but it's a new experience for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed having all of those games right there. You can do the same sort of thing on Steam Deck after installing Windows on it, but the ROG Xbox Ally models come with that functionality out of the box. Unfortunately, the different launchers weren't loaded onto the sample models I played with, so I can't comment on how seamless it is to swap.
One of the new features for the Xbox version of ASUS's handheld is the Handheld Compatibility Program (think Steam Deck's Verified system) that details how compatible a PC game is for the ROG Xbox Ally experience, so you can see at a glance how easy or difficult it will be to play the game. This lends itself well to bringing in new gamers to the handheld environment.
As far as more ease-of-access features go, the menu navigation on both ROG Xbox Ally models was very simple and intuitive. Most of it is done through the Xbox guide button on the top left of the device, which brings up a sub-menu where you can change things like whether it's in handheld mode or desktop control modes, and most importantly, the Operating Mode setting, which dictates how much power is being used to run the device.
Turbo mode is for better graphics performance and quicker battery consumption, while Performance mode is perfect for less demanding titles. Both handhelds look great with the same exact screen offering 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of beautiful brightness, and AMD VRR. Coupled with some very loud speakers that had games sounding crystal clear in a room full of gamers and reporters, it's clear that this is a high-quality handheld that ASUS has evolved with feedback over time.
![]()
It's really tough to recommend anyone drop $1,000 on a handheld, but if you're in the market for one as a hardcore gaming enthusiast and have the budget, I think the ROG Xbox Ally X is a good choice, especially since any sort of new Steam Deck model is likely a few years away.
And if you're not ready to drop a grand on a handheld but want to expand your Xbox gaming capabilities, then the ROG Xbox Ally may be worth picking up instead.

If you're wondering about whether it's possible to obtain Ash Greninja by catching it from the wild in Pokémon Legends ZA, you've come to the right place.
After all, it's not an ordinary Greninja, and has special relevance to the central lore of the Pokémon series. Ash's Greninja was the first Pokémon that Ash caught in the Kalos region, and his 44th overall. Sadly, we don't have the same luck as Ash, but there's some good news.
Table of contents
Can you obtain Ash Greninja in Pokémon Legends ZA
Unfortunately, Ash Greninja can't be obtained in Pokémon Legends ZA since it's not present at all. This will be sad news for you if you wanted to catch the unique Pokémon to add to your collection. It's unlikely that we will get it from any future expansions, since the Mega Dimension DLC's list of creatures has been apparently leaked.
While you can't get Ash Greninja, you can get a Mega Greninja instead on your journey.
How to get Mega Greninja in Pokémon Legends ZA
The process of obtaining a Mega Greninja in ZA is locked behind grinding the first season's Ranked battles mode. Season 1 goes live on Oct. 16, and you can then start your grind for different rewards.
One of those rewards includes the Greninjite. As of writing, it's unclear how easy or hard it will be to obtain the stone. According to TPC, it will be presented as a rank-up reward to all players. You can then use the Mega Stone to evolve your Greninja and evolve it into a Mega Greninja.

Disney Dreamlight Valley's annual Trick-or-Treat event is back, and it's brought with it a new, fairly tricky puzzle to solve. This mystery revolves around a strange new Haunted Well that grants an exclusive prize.
The Haunted Well isn't easy to find, and even when you know where it is, the puzzle associated with it is still quite tricky to solve on your own. If this event task has you stumped, here's how to find and solve the Haunted Well puzzle in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Table of contents
How to start Haunted Well puzzle in Disney Dreamlight Valley
![]()
You can start the Haunted Well puzzle by opening a red chest in the Plaza biome. It only spawns here for the duration of the special Trick-or-Treat event, so make sure you open it before it ends.
This chest can spawn anywhere in the area, so check all corners thoroughly to recover it. Mine spawned fairly close to the ramp that leads up to the Forest of Valor and near the rabbit hole you travel through during the Wonders of Wonderland quest, but yours might not be at this spot.
Once you find the chest, interact with it to open it and spawn a Memory Shard. Open it to reveal a cryptic puzzle featuring a strange well, some candy, and forest trees. To tackle the next step, head up to the Forest of Valor.
Where to find Haunted Well in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The Haunted Well spawns at a random location in the Forest of Valor biome. The exact spawn spot looks different for all players, so you need to scour every inch of this region carefully to find it.
Mine popped up close to a house I have placed near the east end of the biome by the river and the icy staircase leading up to the Frosted Heights biome. You're looking for a light grey well with some glowing candles, pumpkins, and spiderwebs on it.

Once you find the well, interact with it to open a transfer menu. You now need to feed the well all three types of event Candy. A specific amount of each is required, noted by the puzzle in the memory you previously recovered. You also need to feed the well Candy in a very precise order, so here's exactly the order and amount to give it.
After placing all three types of Candy into the well in the right order, you'll unlock the Haunted Well item as a reward. It's a really special item that has animated Ravens flying around it endlessly in a constant loop. You only get one for finishing this task, but you can buy more from Scrooge McDuck's shop.

Where to find all Candy Bowls in Disney Dreamlight Valley
![]()
There are three types of Candy Bowls you can find during the event, including Green Candy Bowls, Red Candy Bowls, and Purple Candy Bowls. All three types of Candy exclusively spawn in the Plaza biome.
From Oct. 15 to 30, you'll find two of each color bucket spawn in the Plaza on a daily basis. On Oct. 31, the spawn rate is increased to two of each color spawning every hour for the full day. A maximum of five Candy Bowls can appear in the Plaza at any given time, so you must remove them frequently to make room for more to spawn.
Haunted Well puzzle in Disney Dreamlight Valley
There's a secret puzzle you can solve during this event to unlock the Haunted Well prize. Start by searching for a red chest in the Plaza biome. Open it up to unlock a memory, then head to the Forest of Valor to search for a well you can interact with.
The exact spawn location of the well varies for all players, so search the entire biome carefully to find it. Mine spawned near the east end, close to the river. Approach the well and interact with it, then toss in:
Once you give the well the right amount of Candy in this order, it will vanish, granting you the special Haunted Well item as a reward.

The Trick-or-Treat event is available to complete from Oct. 15 to Nov. 1. This gives you just over two weeks to tackle all event festivities, with the full thing running for a total of 16 days.
The Haunted Floating Festival event begins on Oct. 22, so to ensure you're ready to tackle that one too, it's best to get this event out of the way as soon as possible. The Witchful Thinking Star Path is also running through these events, so be sure to work through those duties too.

If you're someone who loves business management tycoon games and Dinosaurs, Jurassic World Evolution 3 could be the perfect title to sink your hours into in October.
Developed by Frontier, the third installation of the popular park-management simulator goes live in the latter half of this month. We have known the date for quite some time, but the countdown below will help you keep track of the exact launch on PC and consoles.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 release countdown
Jurassic World Evolution 3 goes live worldwide on Oct. 21, as announced by Frontier a few months back. The countdown keeps track of the exact launch time as the park-sim will have a simultaneous launch all over the world.
The countdown is based on the following timings.
While Jurassic World Evolution 3 will be available on consoles, there is no regional launch. Hence, you can't change the region of your console/account and set it to New Zealand to get extra hours of gameplay.
While there's a Deluxe Edition on offer, you can't avail any Early/Advanced access of any kind. Everyone starts playing at the same time.
What to expect from Jurassic World Evolution 3
Jurassic World Evolution 3 will be walking on the same path as its predecessor, but with more species than ever. You get to manage, breed, and evolve 75 families of dinosaurs across generations in your park. Watch them grow and turn into adults as they attract more visitors to your park.
You'll have more responsibilities than managing your creatures, as constructing buildings and adding attractions for your visitors. Aside from a sandbox mode, you can expect a non-linear campaign involving different parts of the world and iconic characters from the Jurassic Park franchise. Ultimately, chasos can always find a way in park with dinosaurs, and you will aim to keep that at bay.

Destiny 2's Heliostat mission brings the Guardian to an old Warsat facility to foil the Conductor's plan. As usual, guardians can find a couple of secrets and collectibles hidden around the mission. Grabbing them lets you improve Wolfsbane, the game's first battleaxe (Yes, it weapon does get more fun to use).
Heliostat's secrets include ways to improve Wolfsbane's Resurgence Directive intrinsic and to grab its four catalysts, which are needed to unleash the blade's full potential. Since it's a craftable weapon (a dying breed these days), you can also customize some parts to play to the axe's strengths.
We covered how to get Wolfsbane's catalysts and intrinsic upgrades in dedicated articles, so here's a quick, summarized breakdown of how to get all secrets in Heliostat, as well as the recommended route to get those done in a single run.

All Wolfsbane catalyst locations

The Wolfsbane catalysts use a type of lock-and-key system, with data pads serving as the key to certain computer terminals in Heliostat. To unlock each catalyst, find the matching data pad and interact with the corresponding terminal. We highly recommend doing these in order, at the risk of your catalysts glitching out later.
All Wolfsbane intrinsic upgrades

To upgrade Wolfsbane's intrinsic, you must use the axe to destroy nine Vex crystals located at key points of Heliostat. They're usually hidden in unlit nooks and crannies, which may be a giveaway. Here's a brief list of where to find each shape.
Recommended order for the Heliostat secrets

Based on our experience, here is the easiest order to grab all catalysts and intrinsics in a single run. Try to grab the catalysts in order, since not doing so might cause bugs.
Even if you know where to look, grabbing all secrets in Heliostat requires at least two runs in total, since you need Wolfsbane before you can interact with the collectibles.
