Kotaku Thursday, March 10, 2022 10:35 AM The Xbox Series X and S have lots of quality-of-life touches that look small on paper but vastly improve the experience of playing games in practice. One of those is Quick Resume, which makes it easy to swap between several games at once, and a new update makes it even more robust. |

PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 11:15 AM Somehow, it's Thursday again, which means two things: first, tech support hasn't noticed our many complaints about this problem, and second, there's a new free PC game from the Epic Games Store. This week, it's Cities: Skylines, and next week you'll be able to snag a copy of spooky survival horror game In Sound Mind. Created by the team behind the popular Nightmare House 2 mod for Half-Life 2, In Sound Mind is a "series of haunting memories" that get increasingly unsettling as you delve further into the dark recesses of your own psyche. Accompanied by a cat named Tonia, you'll have to elude predators, solve puzzles, and defeat a series of blood-curdling bosses. It's a surreal game, with a soundtrack created by hit YouTube songsmith The Living Tombstone. In Sound Mind originally launched on Steam back in September, and since then its garnered 'overwhelmingly positive' reviews from players over there. Next week, you'll be able to get a copy free to own on the Epic Games Store, starting March 17 at 8am PST / 11am EST / 4pm GMT. |
PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 11:00 AM Glossy gaming monitors just got a release date, with Eve expecting to push the first wave of its shiny new displays in three months time. Pre-orders are now live, so you can be one of the first PC gamers to witness the deeper blacks and clearer text that LG's new polariser reportedly has to offer - just be careful where you position your Yeelight, Nanoleaf, or Govee RGB lights, as it's a whole lot more reflective. Keep your inner Philip J. Fry in check, because there are a couple of things you need to know before you start throwing money at the screen. The glossy polariser comes as an add-on that'll set you back an extra $99 USD to compensate for the additional labour and development costs involved. This bumps the price of the Eve Spectrum 4K 144Hz to $898 USD without the stand and $997 USD with. The coating is also an option on a currently unpriced 1440p 280Hz model, but since this is still in development, shipping priority is placed on the established 4K version that's already in circulation. Those of you still waiting on your Eve Spectrum have the chance to upgrade your existing order with the new sheen. RELATED LINKS: Best SSD for gaming, How to build a gaming PC, Best gaming CPU |
PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 11:03 AM During its recent Apple Event on March 8, the company announced a new flagship SoC which will power its upcoming Mac Studio devices, the M1 Ultra. Now, similar to how it did when it launched its previous flagship chip, Apple is boldly claiming that its new chip beats Nvidia's best graphics card, the GeForce RTX 3090. By interconnecting two of its ARM-based M1 Max chips, Apple has created what it describes as the "world's most powerful and capable chip for a personal computer." Its specs certainly suggest it'll have class-leading performance, with 20 CPU cores, 64 GPU cores, 128GB of unified memory, and up to 2.5TB/s of bandwidth. In tests conducted by Apple, it found that the M1 Ultra came out slightly ahead of the RTX 3090 in 'relative performance', all with 200W less power. While this sounds impressive, the company is annoyingly short on specifics in terms of metrics and programs used, describing the assortment of applications as "select industry‑standard benchmarks." PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 9:54 AM The next patch for Total War: Warhammer III will be rolling out next week, but unfortunately, it will not contain the fix for the alt-tab crash issue that the RTS game's players have been running into. Developer Creative Assembly says fixing the crash resulted in other issues popping up, and so it's delaying that fix until things get straightened out. In a new Steam post, Total War: Warhammer III's developers explain that the fix they found for the alt-tab crashes resulted in additional graphical issues, and so they won't be including it in patch 1.0.2 when that arrives next week. Instead, once the fix has undergone some additional testing, it'll be added to a beta branch that you'll be able to access from the Steam options menu for Total War: Warhammer III. What that patch will contain, however, is some welcome performance improvements, fixes for desyncs, and the resolution of some boot issues that Creative Assembly says were "preventing certain players from playing or enjoying the game." The patch will also address forced v-sync and some "ongoing issues with Alderlake generation processors", the studio says. PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 9:19 AM Despite plans to launch RDNA 3 graphics cards later this year, it appears that AMD will send off its RX 6000 series with one last hurrah in the form of three new high-end models. These new RDNA 2 GPUs are likely being designed to compete with Nvidia's GeForce RTX 30X0 Ti lineup, and we shouldn't have to wait much longer to find out how competitive they are. According to Chiphell forum poster Entusiastic Citizen (via Greymon55), we can expect AMD to launch the RX 6650 XT, RX 6750 XT, and a new flagship RX 6950 XT either on April 20 or 21. Citizen claims that all three cards will boast improved performance in addition to memory speeds of up to 18Gbps, but will also be slightly more expensive too. Based on this release date, AMD's Radeon RX 6950 XT will go head-to-head with Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3090 Ti for the title of the best graphics card on the market. While these GPUs will undoubtedly offer top-of-the line performance, they'll likely cost as much as a whole gaming PC, so we don't expect availability or demand to be especially high for either card. PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 9:01 AM When it comes to desk chairs, I've been a bit squeamish about anything that's branded as being made specifically for gamers. To put it frankly: the automotive style reminds me too much of Kirk Van Houten's race car bed in The Simpsons, and so I've always picked traditional-looking chairs, more along the lines of Flexispot's BS10, for both work and gaming. However, after a few weeks of sitting in a DXRacer Craft bucket seat, consider me converted. DXRacer has been making racing-style gaming chairs longer than anyone, launching its first line of track-inspired chairs marketed specifically to gamers in 2006, after initially building seats for luxury sports cars. The new Craft line adds some nice new features to DXRacer's solid lineup, but the big addition here is highly customisable graphics. To explain the custom graphics options for the Craft chair, I need to take a moment here to tell you a bit about the review model I received. DXRacer sent me the American Star edition, which features cobalt blue faux leather upholstery that's accented in the stars and stripes of the US flag. If Evel Knievel played Fortnite, he would have done it sitting in this chair. It's clad in the hide of one of the noble human cannonballs who roamed Midwestern county fairs and monster truck rallies during their reign of glory in the '70s and '80s. Milhouse's dad would have loved it. RELATED LINKS: Best SSD for gaming, How to build a gaming PC, Best gaming CPU |
PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 8:17 AM Battle Brothers is a tough-as-nails medieval strategy game that our strategy editor Joe reckons may secretly be the best Warhammer game out there, without actually having anything to do with Warhammer. There's a new free expansion for Battle Brothers out today that nudges it in that direction: the DLC is called Of Flesh and Faith, and it adds two new origins for your (probably doomed) band of grubby mercenaries. Origins in Battle Brothers set the starting conditions for your campaign: what kinds of mercenaries and equipment you'll begin the game with, and what additional rules you may have to consider as you try to survive in its harsh world. The first new origin in the Oathtakers, an order of holy knights devoted to the teachings of their founder, Young Anselm. Being paladins, Oathtaker companies begin with two experienced warriors and high-quality equipment, but they'll have to take on oaths throughout the campaign that add various bonuses and disadvantages to your merry band until they're fulfilled. That will undoubtedly make for some difficult decisions on your path to the mercenary hall of fame. PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 7:02 AM Intel's Alder Lake processors are among the best gaming CPUs on the market, but a newly discovered security exploit could leave gaming PCs powered by 12th Gen Core chips vulnerable to attack. Unfortunately, a new mode of Spectre-V2 attack has come to haunt the company's latest LGA 1700 silicon. The exploit relies on 'branch injection history' (BHI) and was discovered by the Systems and Network Security Group at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VUSec). Essentially, BHI allows a potential attacker to trick the CPU's kernel into leaking sensitive data by abusing branch prediction, something that practically all processors use to speed up processes. If conducted successfully, sensitive data that would otherwise be hidden is revealed, such as passwords. What makes Spectre-V2 attacks more dangerous than most other cyberattacks is that it targets a PC's hardware directly, allowing it to be potentially applied across multiple operating systems, including Windows 10 and 11. According to WCCFTech, Intel plans to address the exploit with a patch, but the company didn't provide any timeframe for when the fix will arrive. PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 9:11 AM So you want to know about the Minecraft 1.19 release date? First announced in October 2021, this is also known as 'The Wild' update and will be a major addition to the Java edition of the beloved sandbox game. It's currently scheduled to release later this year, and is even available to play right now thanks to the first 1.19 snapshot that dropped in February 2022. It will have a bunch of new features, from new biomes such as the Deep Dark and Mangrove swamp, new mobs like The Warden, and new world generation features. Ancient cities will spawn in the Deep Dark, which is a new biome that spawns underground. You can make clay or mud brinks thanks to the new Mud block, which you craft by mixing soil with water. There will also be a new enchantment, and Frogs and Fireflies will debut during this update as well. Here's everything we know about the Minecraft 1.19 release date, as well as a summary of the key features. RELATED LINKS: Minecraft console commands, Minecraft skins, Minecraft mods |
PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 5:52 AM While Lost Ark has launched in several western territories without some of the content present in the Korean version, we'll have relative parity sooner rather than later. Speaking to PCGamesN, Amazon Game Studios franchise leader Soomin Park explains how the team is working with Smilegate RPG on post-launch content moving forward and what that means for players in Lost Ark's newer regions. "The western version of Lost Ark will start off a bit behind other versions, but will catch up quickly due to our post-launch content plans," Park says. "The western and eastern versions of Lost Ark will always have some variations between each other, although you will start to see more similarities in terms of content being released for all players." One of the main differences right now is the class and specialisation variety. While the western version of the game has five classes and 15 specialisations to pick from, the Korean version has more as it's been out for three years. For example, we've yet to see the reaper and artist specialisations for the the assassin and specialist classes, respectively. PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 5:12 AM Want to know more about the upcoming Genshin Impact events? A new version of Genshin Impact arrives every six weeks, complete with new characters, quests, and events. It's difficult to keep track of which events are currently running and if there are any new ones coming soon, so here's a schedule for all current and upcoming Genshin Impact events. Genshin Impact has a number of events running simultaneously, and they aren't just in-game events. When a new Genshin Impact character joins the game, the devs launch a web event at the same time - players learn about the latest characters through an interactive story told through a web browser. The rewards for completing different events range from in-game items like primogems and mora, to real life prizes like mouse mats and plushies. Just like the Genshin Impact banners, most events are only available for a limited time, so it's worth participating as soon as you can. New events are usually added to Genshin Impact after an update, but it's worth keeping an eye out on this page as the devs do like to surprise the community. PCGamesN Thursday, March 10, 2022 7:15 AM So you want to know about the Lost Ark new classes? Even though the hit new MMORPG has just been released in the West, it's been out in Korea for a couple of years now. That means the Korean version of the game has more content than the version we have currently, and this includes classes. There are several Lost Ark classes that currently exist in the Korean version that have yet to make the jump over to the western version. These are mainly subclasses, but there's an additional class with subclasses that was never put into Lost Ark for its western launch. We also know of a brand new class (of sorts) that's coming to both versions - a female version of the berserker. We've put together this guide that summarises everything you need to know about new Lost Ark classes. As time goes on and the rest of the Korean game content makes it way into the western version of the game, we'll update this guide with any new classes, subclasses, or class gender options as they get announced. It can trade on other people's glories by spaffing off blockchain rubbish and hotels that won't get built and bad microconsoles and endless re-releases with the logo and rights it bought, and I'll think it's stupid but basically not care (aside from that cryptojunk, which is abhorrent). This has now changed with the news that the creature wearing the skin of Atari has bought MobyGames, the extremely good video games database. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, March 10, 2022 11:00 AM This episode of the Electronic Wireless Show podcast is all about our favourite mounts in video games - as in, animals that carry you around in games. Not cars. Machines don't count as mounts, I think we can all pre-agree on that. We discuss a lot of different horses, and some things that are not horses, from a bunch of different games. This is an unfortunate crossover with our 'best horses' special, which I forgot we had done. Also, Nate and I get angry at Metal Gear Solid. There are some traditional digressions, although there's no substantial Henry Cavill update this week. We spend some time discussing which dinosaur we would most like to ride as a mount, and whether we would rather fight one The Rock sized spider, or 30 spider sized The Rocks. This week's Cavern of Lies is WoW-themed, and if you'd like to listen along to Latvia's Eurovision entry this year then here's the link. Be warned that it is NSFW. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, March 10, 2022 10:30 AM Social media sucks doesn't it? You sign up for a feed of dross that never stops, like you've paid for a rotten Fruit Winder that simply won't stop unwinding. Others who've bought into the same Fruit Winder exchange thoughts on its sour taste, until yet more, who quite like the flavour, come to its defense in droves. A war of words ensues over whether the Fruit Winder tastes nice. And it's not even a Fruit Winder, it's an app called Facebook, or Twitter, or Instagram, for goodness sakes. Admittedly, there is something gratifying about popping off on social media. Even just getting a few likes for a dumb joke can make you feel alive. So, I say you swap Twitter for Elden Ring, a superior social media platform: You leave players helpful messages or total dross, it gets appraised, you feel great. Invading other worlds is a more interactive way of making friends and/or enemies too – it's perfect. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, March 10, 2022 10:17 AM One of my earliest video game memories is at the swimming pool, where a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade cabinet nestled amongst the vending machines. After a swim I'd stare longingly at the snacks I couldn't afford then stand on tip-toes before the game I couldn't afford to play, waggling a joystick and mashing buttons to pretend I was controlling the attract mode demo. Appealing to this sort of nostalgia, Konami have announced they're releasing a collection of 13 vintage Ninja Turtles games. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, March 10, 2022 9:42 AM This article contains spoilers for Lost Ark's main questline. Lost Ark is a very silly game, but not in the way it initially seems. For its first 15 hours or so, Smilegate's ARPG is like someone described Lord of the Rings to the developers through a door, an overblown yet generic riff on Western fantasy tropes with overdesigned yet underwritten characters, all of whom talk about the game's plainly ridiculous lore with the gravity of a neutron star. The game's ignorance of its own absurdity is funny, but the story itself is not much fun. This begins to change once you approach level 50. After completing the continent of East Luterra, Lost Ark suddenly explodes in scale. It gives you a ship, and sets you off on a massive globetrotting adventure, with around a dozen other continents to explore, and dozens more tiny islands, each with their own little questlines. Your first destination across Lost Ark's ocean is an island called Tortoyk (pronounced like "Tortoise", but with a K), and it's here where the game stops pretending to be a serious high-fantasy adventure, revealing itself to be something much more entertaining. |

Siliconera Thursday, March 10, 2022 11:30 AM Following the March 2022 State of Play, Square Enix released a new Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin demo. Now, it also confirmed that there is a bug that can come up during it. The trial allows people to test out both the single and multiplayer experience. However, it could freeze when playing with others. The official announcement explained exactly what the Stranger of Paradise demo problem is and what to do if it happens. There are cases when the one or two other people coming to play might see their game freeze. If this happens, the only way to proceed is to exit the game and restart. Square Enix noted this will only come up if there is a connection issue with the person hosting the game. The Stranger of Paradise demo lets people visit Chaos Shrine, Pravoka Seagrot, and Western Keep. They can do so alone, or in multiplayer with up to three people. Multiplayer is limited to folks on the same console ecosystem. This means if someone is playing the PS5 version of the trial, people with the PS4 or PS5 version could join them. As you play, you can save your progress for the full game. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on March 18, 2022. If you pre-ordered a digital copy, you could start playing on March 15, 2022. The post Stranger of Paradise Demo Multiplayer Issue Identified appeared first on Siliconera. |

Siliconera Thursday, March 10, 2022 10:01 AM Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is back! The Midnight Channel picked up the P-1 Climax again, apparently. Which is good for people who love a competent, robust Arc System Works fighter or Persona in general. The game remains as well-executed as ever, with the complete edition offering a pretty and tidy package to enjoy. Like the original Persona 4 Arena, Ultimax involves someone using the Midnight Channel to again hold the P1-Climax tournament. Both the Persona 4 Investigation Team led by Yu Narukami and Kirijo Group Shadow Operatives led by Mitsuru Kirijo are dealing with what's going on. All of them end up ascending a tower at Yasogami and fighting Shadows while trying to work out what's going on. It very heavily ties in to both Persona 4 and Persona 4 Arena. Which means people unfamiliar with those games might feel a bit left out. Fortunately, the latter's story mode is included, due to this version offering that DLC right away. As for the array of modes, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax includes a range of options that exceed expectations. Which, well, is to be expected from Arc System Works. Everything you could want and need is here. Do you love the characters from Persona 3 and 4 and want to find out why they're fighting? The P4A: Story Mode and Episode P4 and P3 have you covered with the tales from both the original installment and this sequel. Playing online? There are ranked and casual modes, with rooms and lobbies in the PS4 version. Want to fight? Arcade, Score Attack, Golden Arena, and Versus are all there to offer different options. You can also learn what you're doing in Challenge, Lesson, and Training Mode. There is something for everyone at every skill level. (Especially considering the story modes have an "auto" option.) Speaking of that auto mode, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is truly designed with everyone in mind. Which is very wise, given people who love the Persona series might not be as well versed with fighting games. Likewise, people who love tight fighters might feel exhausted by the prospect of tons of text. The design strikes a good balance. People who are coming from the games and have no experience can easily keep pressing a single button to chain a combo. Not to mention characters' movesets all make use of 214+attack or 236+attack for specials and 236236+attack for supers. It's pretty easy to learn when every person's using the same inputs. Not to mention when Challenge is holding your hand. But if someone is having trouble, letting autopilot take over so you can watch the story or learning through Lessons and Challenges, and using the RPG elements of Golden Arena let you build yourself up are there. For the people who are veterans or familiar with fighters, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax offers plenty of depth. For example, this version includes the 2.5 update that never appeared outside Japan until now. This means that the Shadow characters can be a bit more versatile. Their Shadow Frenzy uses burst and SP to dictate how much you can do and for how long. They also can pay more attention to SP used to determine how much damage they'll use. They can take advantage of the Skill Hold to deal more damage. You might also spend more time thinking about the status ailments available and which ones you'll use to hamper an opponent. Not to mention the more traditional fighting game technical elements like counters, Fatal Counters, canceling, and playing around with combos. So yes, everything is on as strong a foundation as before. Better, thanks to a few other bonuses. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax on the PS4 is essentially a "definitive" edition. That means all of the DLC from the original game are there. Which in this case the highlights are the P4A: Story Mode, Adachi Story Mode, and Adachi, Margaret, and Marie DLC characters. All of them absolutely add to the experience. As does the being able to go with English or Japanese voice overs. Pair that with Arc System Works' 2D fighters always being gorgeous and the touch up for its resolution, and it looks amazing. Everything is smooth, fluid, and true to the series' identity. There's also the subject of online offerings. Given I was playing ahead of launch, I wasn't able to see and test everything. For example, the lobbies were empty when I'd visit and I certainly wasn't happening upon anyone for Ranked matches. But I did happen to find myself in a room with at one point five people playing. While there, clear indicators let you know everyone's WiFi signal quality. (Both colors and numbers appear in the icon next to their name.) Occasionally, the introductory clip showing the stage stuttered, but conditions were great ahead of launch. I fought three matches and was a spectator for nine others. There wasn't any lag, inputs worked well, and things worked exactly the way one would expect. Considering we also have rollback netcode coming to the PS4 version post-launch, it seems like a solid situation. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is another example of the incredible work the people at Arc System Works can do. It perfectly captures the spirit of both Persona 3 and 4, all without pandering or feeling unnecessary. It's incredibly robust. It looks and plays well on the PS4. It is considerate of people coming to it who aren't well-versed with fighting games, yet also ready to challenge people who know what they're doing. The only thing that might deter some people from getting invested is how heavily it relies on the source property. It really does mean knowing and loving Persona 4, at the very least. But even if you don't and just appreciate a solid fighter, it is worth someone's time. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will come to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC on March 17, 2022. Siliconera Thursday, March 10, 2022 9:30 AM Compile Heart opened a new poll about Neptunia characters on its Japanese website. It asks the fans' preferred characters across ten different topics. The poll will run until March 31, 2022. The company set up this poll to celebrate the upcoming Japanese release of Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters Vs. Sisters. A user can cast multiple votes, but the system will limit them to one vote per day on each category. The default character list includes new original characters who debuted in Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars. However, the poll does not include personifications of other games and companies besides Compa (Compile Heart) and IF (Idea Factory). Users can still place their votes for those characters by choosing the last "Others" option and then inputting the character's name in the comments section. Here are the ten questions asked in the Neptunia character poll:

Siliconera Thursday, March 10, 2022 9:00 AM Nintendo confirmed to Eurogamer that it has suspended product shipments to Russia. A spokesperson from the company cited "volatility surrounding the logistics of shipping and distributing physical goods" as a reason for the suspension. It has also essentially disabled the Nintendo eShop in Russia by putting it in a state of maintenance. [Thanks, Eurogamer.] The Japanese outlet Game Watch also learned Nintendo has had the Russian eShop in a state of maintenance since March 4, 2022. The article added that the payment provider's suspension of transactions in Russian rubles led to the de facto eShop shutdown in the country. Nintendo has yet to publish an official statement about the suspension on its websites and social media accounts. As of this writing, the most recent corporate update on March 9, 2022 indicated that the company will release its financial report for the 2022 fiscal year on May 10, 2022. However, the war has directly affected the release of Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp in North America and Europe. Nintendo delayed the game from its originally slated release on April 8, 2022 due to the conflict. It will provide a new release date for the title at a later time. With this announcement, all major game console publishers have halted product shipments to Russia. On March 4, 2022, Microsoft announced that it would suspend sales of its products and services, including Xbox consoles. Shortly before the March 2022 State of Play, Sony also announced the suspension of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games and systems in the country. The Nintendo Switch, released in March 2017, has surpassed 100 million units sold worldwide as of December 31, 2021. Siliconera Thursday, March 10, 2022 8:30 AM Consumers will be able to upgrade their PlayStation 4 (PS4) version of Soul Hackers 2 to the PlayStation 5 (PS5) version for free. Atlus elaborated on the upgrade through a blog post on its website. This included the confirmation that users will be able to move their data from the PS4 version to the PS5. That said, there are some stipulations to upgrading the PS4 version of Soul Hackers 2 to the PS5 version. If consumers have purchased the PlayStation 4 physical edition of Soul Hackers 2, they will need to insert their disc into the PlayStation 5 to boot up the game. However, the PlayStation 5 version of the game can then be downloaded for no additional charge. Atlus also stated that the Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions of Soul Hackers 2 will be strictly download-only in Japan. This means the title will not receive a physical release within that region. Additionally, pre-order bonuses will apply to both the physical and digital versions of Soul Hackers 2. The pre-order bonuses include Persona 5 skins and access to music from the game. Atlus does clarify, however, that pre-order bonuses for the physical edition are limited. That is not the case for digital versions of the game. So long as consumers pre-order the digital version of the game before its official release, they will be eligible to receive the content. Soul Hackers 2 will release on August 25, 2022 in Japan and August 26, 2022 in North America and Europe for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Siliconera Thursday, March 10, 2022 6:00 AM The Great Holy Grail War is making a return to Fate/Grand Order. Its event crossover with Fate/Apocrypha, Inheritance of Glory, is back for a rerun, two years after its original 2020 run. New Masters and players that missed the original iteration will have a chance to get a new playable Servant. The Fate/Grand Order Apocrypha rerun begins on March 10, 2022 and continues through March 23, 2022. Check out an animated promo for the event. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYYkq7t5H6w Inheritance of Glory is based on Fate/Apocrypha, a sister property of Fate/Grand Order. Fate/Apocrypha tells the story of a conflict between the Mage's Association and the Yggdmillennia clan, as they hold a contest for possession of the wish-granting Holy Grail. They launch a "Great Holy Grail War," a twist on the Holy Grail War ritual at the core of the Fate franchise. In the Great Holy Grail War, two teams, Red and Black, summon seven Servants each to compete in what can best be described as a superpowered round of Team Deathmatch. Fate/Apocrypha is also the "source fiction" of FGO Servants like Vlad III, Jack the Ripper, William Shakespeare, Jeanne d'Arc, Spartacus, Amakusa Shirou Tokisada, and Astolfo. As a rerun event, the Fate/Grand Order Fate/Apocrypha crossover is tuned for an easier grind compared to the first run. Players will fight in battles to gather event currency to trade for goodies. Raid Battle segments will challenge the whole player base to reduce a boss's health pool through repeated battles. At the end of the main story, players will receive a free 4-Star Servant: Sieg. Sieg is the protagonist of Fate/Apocrypha and appears in-game as a Caster-class Servant. In the series, Sieg is a homunculus, grown by the Yggdmillennia clan to use as a source of magical energy, who develops a sense of self and joins the Great Holy Grail War to win his freedom. Players can also spend Saint Quartz on the premium summoning banner to win some rare and limited 4- and 5-Star Servants. The limited Servants are the Assassin-class Semiramis, Saber-class Astolfo, and the Ruler-class Amakusa Shirou Tokisada. Other Servants getting a drop rate boost are Mordred, Achilles, and Vlad III (Berserker). 4-Star Servants on rate-up include Chiron, Atalante and her Alter version, Astolfo's Rider version, Siegfried, Frankenstein, and the 3-Star Caster Avicebron. Fate/Grand Order is available on Android and iOS. The Fate/Apocrypha crossover runs until March 23, 2022. The Fate/Apocrypha anime series can be viewed on Netflix. Siliconera Thursday, March 10, 2022 5:30 AM It's time for yet another Battle in New York in Fate/Grand Order (FGO). Only this time, Odysseus and Tesla are running the show. The event will go live in the Japanese version of Fate/Grand Order from March 16, 2022. The full title is "Battle in New York 2022: Space Odysseus Versus Nikola Tesla." https://twitter.com/fgoproject/status/1501493005441974284 The way you go about the event is similar to in previous Festival events, such as Nero Festival and the Gilgamesh version of the Battle in New York. You play through tournament quests in order to obtain event items, and you can use event currency to spin the lottery for items. There will also be high-difficulty exhibition quests, which do not allow any retries. However, the Battle in New York 2022 will not feature any new opponents. It will rerun exhibition quests from past events. During the Battle of New York 2022, the Chaldea Servants will face off against an army from the Servant Universe. The Servant Universe, which is the setting for events such as Saber Wars 2, is a parallel world in which all inhabitants are Servants. Aside from Saber Wars 2, the Amazones.com event also took place in the Servant Universe. FGO is available on mobile devices, and the Battle in New York 2022 event will go live in the Japanese version only. It will begin March 16, 2022. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, March 10, 2022 10:30 AM I consider Persona 4 Arena Ultimax to be one of the cornerstones of my gaming career, oddly enough. More than often, I joke that I was born and raised by this game. But there is a truth to the sentiment: Persona 4 Arena Ultimax gave birth to my love for fighting games. I know plenty of other people in the same position, as the Persona 4 spin-off mostly appealed to my love for Persona 4 Golden. But what came from my simple wanting for more Persona 4 content was an introduction to a vast and wonderful genre of gaming. Hours and hours were spent grinding in the training room, trying to perfect that elusive and difficult combo, or working on tech that I could spring onto my opponents. And Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a loyal game. I won't call it anything more than the niche outing into the fighting game community that it is, but the fans are nothing but dedicated. Content creators continue to post videos on this anime-inspired arcade fighting game released nearly a decade ago, and ... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, March 10, 2022 10:00 AM I've always loved beat 'em ups. In recent years, they've become more complicated, showcasing classic 2D gameplay alongside RPG elements and gear. Young Souls is a positively gorgeous game, with snappy, satisfying combat and an enjoyable loop. But it's also horribly let down by an insanely inconsistent difficulty curve and some of the most unfair boss battles I've seen in the genre. It's worth checking out, but there are some serious caveats on display. Young Souls is not the sterling example of the modern beat 'em up that it could have been with better balance. Young Souls' story is an enjoyable one. Tristan and Jenn are twin teenage delinquents who have been taken in by the Professor, an old scientist living in a mansion. One day, the Goblin king, called Dwarvengobben, abducts the Professor in order to force him to help with an invasion of the surface. Undaunted, the twins make contact with a Goblin of an opposing faction and use a ga... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, March 10, 2022 9:00 AM Sometimes, a short game that's solely about exploration is exactly what the doctor ordered. Okay, not a real doctor. This is a purely metaphorical doctor. Submerged: Hidden Depths is a follow up to the game from 2015 built using Unreal 4. And it's, honestly, extremely lovely and relaxing. The lack of combat, or much of what most would consider gameplay, certainly makes it a game that isn't for everyone. But for people who want to chill out while riding the waves and exploring the game's sun-soaked, ruined city will find a worthwhile experience here all the same. Submerged: Hidden Depths tells the story of siblings Miku and Taku. Chased from every home they've ever known due to Miku's "gift," which causes a collection of plant roots on her arm to bloom into flowers when she's near giant plant seeds, the two have been looking for a new home ever since. There isn't much plot here. The story focuses on the connection between th... |
