There are some fundamental rules to surviving in Elden Ring Nightreign. Things like "always hit the small camp first to get level 2" and "never fight the Bell Bearing Hunter boss beneath the castle." The '90s saw an incredible number of adventure games come out, some of which have gone on to become classics in the decades since. For every Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, or King's Quest 6 that's still celebrated today, though, there are other, just as compelling entries to the genre that have fallen into obscurity. One of them is Azrael's Tear, which combines the conspiratorial backdrop of Deus Ex or Gabriel Knight 3 with the first-person perspective of Myst and Riven to create something distinct. Now, nearly three decades since it first arrived, it's easier than ever to play Azrael's Tear, thanks to a relaunch on GOG.

We recently learned that long-running survival game Scum was finally set to leave Early Access, seven years after it first launched in Steam's preview program. It's not unusual for games in this genre to spend a long time being iterated upon in this way, but Scum's lengthy creation process has meant we've been waiting quite a while to see how it's full version would pan out. Now, with its 1.0 launch, Scum has rocketed up Steam's player charts, enjoying a level of popularity that could see it standing next to genre classics like Rust, DayZ, Subnautica, and The Forest if its creators are able to make good on its initial success.

Ara History Untold is one of those games where I'm almost confused about why it's not more popular. Especially in the aftermath of Civilization 7's muted reception, the appetite for an alternative historical 4X game should be greater than ever - detailed, difficult, and strategic, Ara has a lot of the qualities that I think players are missing from Civ 7. Moreover, after a difficult launch back in September, thanks to a series of new updates Ara's reputation has been quietly recovering. In collaboration with Sins of the Solar Empire creator Stardock, developer Oxide has just released one of the most significant overhauls in Ara's history. If you've burned through Stellaris, need a break from Age of Empires, or want a swap from Civ, this is definitely one to try.

There are plenty of great action roguelikes out on PC. From Hades 2 and Rogue Legacy 2 through to classics like Dead Cells and The Binding of Isaac, there are many options out there already vying for an audience. The space flight sim genre has largely gone to the wayside. In the past, Star Wars: TIE Fighter, Wing Commander 3, and Freespace 2 were among the most popular videogames available, but, lately, it's hard to find many other options that capture their design ethos, other than the flight segments of No Man's Sky and Star Citizen, or the launch of an occasional throwback like Star Wars: Squadrons. A new Total War Warhammer 3 update is here, delivering developer Creative Assembly's much-touted magic items rework along with the addition of new units. The overhaul is designed to better balance item strength across the strategy game's campaigns, and should result in you finding fewer but more impactful drops, with a better variety of options to suit your chosen faction's preferred play style. Well, you can't say Remedy don't have range. After the screeching survival horror of Alan Wake 2 comes FBC: Firebreak, a three-person multiplayer FPS spun off from Wakeverse stablemate (and excellent action game in its own right) Control. Perspective isn't the only thing that shifts, either, as Firebreak reframes Control's eerie, New Weird-influenced setting as a backdrop for comedy co-op shenanigans. There will be gnomes creating lightning storms.

Back in the Oldest House, the illogically vast and currently invaded headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control, Firebreakers – volunteer office drones turned underqualified field agents – gear up to do battle with whatever outdated guns and jerry-rigged tools they can find. The Firebreak initiative is as haphazard and cobbled-together a task force as you're likely to see, and ultimately, a reflection of the game it stars in: one that's plucky and capable of impressing, yet never quite comes together as a cohesive prospect.

In curling monkey paw news, Doom: The Dark Ages no longer requires mandatory ray tracing effects – because you can now replace some of them with path tracing, RT's even more extravagant (and even more demanding) tech-sibling. Today's update for the meaty shooter sequel adds a selection of path-traced lighting, shadow, and reflection options, and while that all comes with Nvidia's mildly performance-aiding DLSS Ray Reconstruction, my testing suggests even the most framerate-rich GPUs will pay a heavy price for its shinier hellscapes.

11 Bit Studios have a thing for circles. Their 2018 hit Frostpunk had you plant rings of buildings around a massive coal-fired generator in a frozen crater, picking research paths to steer your fully overlapping class/temperature Venn diagram of a city toward either fascism or theocracy. Frostpunk's radial design is hypnotic, putting across the theme of humanity versus the engulfing cold with claustrophobic symmetry, and 11-bit's later colony sims have struggled to either evolve the motif or depart from it. Frostpunk 2, for instance, shatters and smooshes the circle to form a district-based frostland republic that gets lost in its own chatter.

The Alters is weirder than Frostpunk 2, and more successful. It tips the circle on one side. The crater city is now a wheel-shaped spacebase, strung with modular dwellings, which trundles across a landscape you will also explore on foot. It's one genre, the colony management sim, bowled through another, the third-person action-adventure. The game also develops Frostpunk's urban faction dynamics into a more intimate, tortured blend of psychological allegory and workplace soap opera, with the quirk that every member of that workplace is technically one and the same guy.

Patapon 1+2 Replay Gameplay Trailer Shows QOL Additions

Ahead of Patapon 1+2 Replay returning as a Switch, PS5, and PC game, Bandai Namco shared gameplay footage highlighting some of the changes we will experience in the new compilation. In addition to making the two games more readily available, it means assists to help folks get more accustomed to the rhythmic gameplay.

As a reminder, in Patapon and its sequels, we guide an army of units through stages. Our orders are sent out in time with the beat. Depending on the buttons we press, the crew will perform different actions. This might make them advance, attack, defend, retreat, or carry out other objectives. Between missions, we'll select which units are in our party and arm them. As we progress, new kinds of commands and characters appear.

With the quality of life features, many of the Patapon 1+2 Replay gameplay additions are designed to make it more accommodating for both newcomers and experienced players. There's an option to skip some story scenes. Part of this involves the Drum Commands being visible and part of the UI, so people see a constant reminder. The ones shown in the video are Advance, Protect, Charge, Rile Up, Attack, Flee, Miracle, and Jump. You can adjust the timing, if it seems like your inputs aren't being recognized in a proper way. In the Options, you can increase and decrease input timing to match your own. It is also possible to set the game levels difficulty for each game, with Easy, Normal, and Hard appearing as possibilities.

Here's the full Patapon 1+2 Replay gameplay trailer. It spends almost six minutes looking at how the two games will work on these new platforms.

Cerydra Is Another Honkai: Star Rail 3.5 Character

The next confirmed 3.5 Honkai: Star Rail character is the Chrysos Heir Cerydra. Her official art appeared on social media. She's known as the Chessmaster Monarch who is aligned with law and order, serving under Talanton, Scale of Justice. Like Aglaea, Castorice, Hisilens, Hyacine, and Phainon, she's associated with Okhema on Amphoreus. She'll also be a five-star unit.

While associated with law and order, Cerydra will follow the path of Harmony. This means she'll act as a supporter in battle with a moveset that helps assist and boost her allies. When she does attack, she'll deal Wind damage. This means she'll be the second five-star Harmony character to deal Wind damage in the game. The first is Bronya, who's been a part of the game since its launch.

This means we'll see two Chrysos Heirs in the 3.5 Honkai: Star Rail update, since Hisilens (Helektra) will appear alongside Cerydra. However, while Hisilens seems like she could be an expy of the Honkai Impact 3rd Thirteen Flame-Chasers member Eden, Cerydra doesn't seem to have a counterpart in that group. Given her blue color scheme, hairstyle, askew crown on her head as a hat, and role as the Law Coreflame wielder who is tied to Talanton, Scale of Justice, her closest counterpart seems to be the Hydro Archon Furina from Genshin Impact. We'll have to wait until her debut to see how apt that comparison is.

Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and we'll see both Cerydra and Hysilens appear on banners after the 3.5 update arrives.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Eevee Grove Focuses on Eeveelutions

At the end of every month, we've seen The Pokemon Company International release a new update. This will continue for June 2025. On June 26, 2025, Pokemon TCG Pocket will get an Eevee Grove booster pack update that adds new cards based on Eevee and its eight Eeveelutions evolution options. A first trailer also showed what some of the cards will look like.

The trailer going over the new cards started with an Eevee ex with the ability to evolve into any Eeveelution standard or ex card. Cards for Vaporeon, Leafeon, Jolteon, Glaceon, Espeon, Umbreon, Sylveon ex, and Flareon ex. From there, the focus turned to Trainer cards from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Penny appears as a Supporter, while her Eevee Bag shows up as an item. Some of the friends of Eevee highlighted on cards included Alcremie, Swirlix, and Milcery.

Here's the official trailer for Eevee Grove in Pokemon TCG Pocket that, as you would expect, shows the Eeveelution cards we'll be able to get and their allies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtSPAFMF7b0

As part of this update, there will also be a new binder and display board design. The binder is based on the Eevee Grove booster pack key art. The display board is just Eevee-themed in general. Here's how both look:

The last expansions focused on Pokemon Sun and Moon and Ultra Beasts. First Celestial Guardians appeared in April 2025. Then Extradimensional Crisis followed in May 2025.

Pokemon TCG Pocket is available on mobile devices, and the Eevee Grove booster pack will appear in-game starting on June 26, 2025.

Beat Saber PSVR and PSVR 2 Support Ends on PS4 and PS5

Yet another platform is going to lose access to new Beat Saber songs and updates, PS4 and PS5 owners with a PlayStation VR or PSVR 2 will no longer get anything new. According to the official announcement, this is effective immediately as of June 18, 2025. However, the existing game will be able to be played on both systems with both Sony headsets. The last addition to the game on both platforms was the single Shock Drop song "Abracadabra" by Lady Gaga.

The announcement didn't explain why support will be ending. It just said that this decision came ahead of "the next big leap" for the title. It also confirmed that the game isn't being delisted. The game and its DLC will still be available on the PlayStation Store and work on both consoles with their headsets. Customer support will still be available.

However, there is another cut-off date in the future. Right now, PS4 and PS5 PlayStation VR and PSVR 2 players with Beat Saber can use the multiplayer mode. That support will end due to support ending. It will only be available until January 21, 2026. Again, no additional explanation was offered for that being pulled.

This is the second recent instance of support being dropped for a Beat Saber platform. Beat Games and Oculus Studios ended support for the game on Meta Quest 1 in November 2024. At the time, it explained it would be due to that headset being unable to handle future updates.

Beat Saber is playable on the Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and VR headsets on PC, and PS4 PlayStation VR and PS5 PSVR 2 versions will exist, but get no new content as of June 18, 2025.

Donkey Kong Bananza Co-op Makes Pauline Playable

During the Donkey Kong Bananza Direct, Nintendo confirmed that Pauline will be a sidekick for Donkey Kong in the Switch 2 game and will be playable in two-player co-op alone or with GameShare. While initially the game showed Odd Rock as a rocky ally for the character, it turns out it is actually a younger version of Pauline in disguise. In addition to her assistance when playing alone, she'll be able to play an additional part if someone joins the owner of te game for co-op. There will be amiibo of both characters released on July 17, 2025 as well.

In Donkey Kong Bananza, it seems our goal is threefold. We need to help Pauline get back to the surface. We have to defeat Void Company and keep them from reaching the Planet Core. We also need to get Donkey Kong bananas. Pauline's singing allows Donkey Kong to attack. When he gets Bananergy from gold, she can sing to change him into beings like Kong Bananza, Ostrich Bananza, and Zebra Bananza.

Pauline won't be able to hop off and run around on her own if you enter into two-player co-op in Donkey Kong Bananza. Instead, it will function like two-player element a game like Pikmin 4, where the second person can be a Pebble Pitcher to throw rocks to attack. When a second person assists using mouse controls with a Joy-Con locally either on the same system or GameShare or with GameChat GameShare online, the Pauline player uses Vocal Blasts to attack. She can do this with standard rocks or by copying materials in the environment to create golden vocal blasts.

As for the amiibo, they offer two types of bonuses. The Pauline one gives immediate access to a Diva Dress outfit and KONG tiles. Donkey Kong and other amiibo unlock KONG tiles and possible terrain material.

Here's the full Nintendo Direct. Skip ahead to the 29:30 mark to watch it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVUidGTR8xg&t=5s

Donkey Kong Bananza will come to the Switch 2 on July 17, 2025.

Review: Raidou Remastered Elevates a Great SMT Spin-off

Atlus really seems to be going all-in on its remasters. We're getting improved versions of games that are far more accessible than before, which is great. That's the general goal for any rerelease like this. However, we're also seeing entirely new features and quality of life changes in these. Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster helped start to set the bar, and Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army continues that with further enhancements to Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs the Soulless Army, an already excellent game.

Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army is an origin story set just after Japan's Taisho era. Our character is the latest person to adopt the Raidou Kuzunoha XIV role after successfully completing devil summoner challenges. They're set to Tokyo to work for the Narumi Detective Agency to handle supernatural cases involving supernatural forces alongside the mysterious Gouto-Douji and befriended demons. Raidou and Shohei Narumi get pulled into such a mystery when meeting with a teenager named Kaya Daidouji who begs for them to kill her. After Hell's Pawn supernatural soldiers in red abduct her, Raidou gets directly involved in this case and other related demonic situations. It's not the longest affair, with more than a few of the revelations being rather obvious, but it works as an introduction and doesn't wear out its welcome.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEP_7CLiV8c

While Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army is a JRPG and SMT spin-off, it's much more active than other entries. The game sends us around Tokyo to different spots and, as a perk here, fast travel is an option in this version to get to spots more quickly. Investigations involve not only talking to people and exploring locations, but calling upon demons to use their unique abilities to perform special actions to gain access to new information or areas Raidou can't reach. Jaunts into the Dark Realm, a netherworld version of Tokyo, is also necessary to progress, get answers, and save people. It involves a lot of footwork in a good way that can feel more like an investigation, especially since you might need the right demon skill at the right time.

Fights in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army involve an active battle system, compared to the turn-based ones in other SMT JRPGs. We directly control Raidou, who can attack with a sword, shoot with his gun, or perform magical attacks. Two demons can be summoned to fight alongside you, and you can set their strategy. Many of these are adjusted, either via rebalancing or new features. Raidou's Summoner Skills, which involve Combat Skills like the elemental Sign spells, additional physical attacks, or ones that provide buffs such as Sword Skills. The combat system really feels competent and varied, allowing for so many approaches, and the remaster helps with that in so many ways. The extra customization elements from those skills and being able to adjust demonic allies' through Skill Books and fusions is a huge boon.

In fact, I'd say that the nature of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army makes demons feel better here than in any other SMT game. Part of this comes down to the way they are handled in the story. Demons are portrayed as both partners and friends who work productively alongside Raidou. They get along in a way we don't see in the mainline SMT games and other spin-offs like Persona and Devil Survivor. They aren't minions. They aren't evil or lesser. They're as adept and valued as Raidou himself. The fact that this remaster also ups the number of total characters by including ones from Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon and other SMT games makes it even better. Yes, we don't get the exact kind of direct control you might appreciate from turn-based JRPGs. Still, it's all handled quite well. Plus the remaster does remedy an issue the original version had, which is that there wasn't as large of a selection of opponents as other SMT entries.

The general HD remaster boons we come to expect from games are also front and center in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. Yes, it does look better than the original. The voice acting is a nice perk as well. The English performances are generally strong. As someone who played the original, I felt like the updated graphics left the biggest impression. The original game looked fine, but didn't feel like they had as much care as other PS2 SMT titles like Persona 3

I mentioned earlier that a big selling point of these Atlus deciding to remaster games in particular is that it is giving people a chance to play an otherwise hard to access title, and that's especially true with Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs the Soulless Army came out in Japan and the US in 2006, right when the PS3 debuted. It appeared when SMT was still a bit niche and Atlus did limited runs. As a result, the PS2 game can go for hundreds of dollars on places like Amazon and eBay. So even before we get into how much better the game looks, runs, and plays, this game's existence is a boon for preservation purposes even if we don't count all of the other points earlier highlighting how all of these additions make a great enjoyable game even more of a delight.

Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army is a way to experience a fun piece of SMT history again, and it's another example of Atlus going above and beyond for a remaster. The quality of life adjustments, like battle additions, fast travel system, and newly added demons, are all a big deal. So is making it all look and sound better. But in a way, getting easier, more affordable access to a great game is the best part of this package. In every way, it's a stronger game than the original.

Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army will come to the Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on June 19, 2025

Standing with The Forgotten outside the dark castle in disney dreamlight valley

Your dark counterpart The Forgotten is an essential character for you to meet up with regularly around the village in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Unfortunately, they're a notoriously tricky villager to track down.

Finding The Forgotten is a fairly tough task, but you do need to know where to look for them, which means it's one you need to tackle. Here's how to find The Forgotten in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Where is The Forgotten in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

the forgotten arriving in the village in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

Once you complete the A Forgotten Name quest and unlock The Forgotten, they can be found anywhere in the valley. The tricky part is that they also seem to sometimes simply vanish from existence.

It's unclear whether this is a bug or intentional, but they are a villager who can't always be found and chatted with. This can be a bit frustrating if you're trying to chat, give gifts to, or hang out with them, but there's no way to combat this issue.

All you can do to try and find them is look for the dark crown icon on your map. They can teleport around the valley as they rise out of the shadows, but they generally walk from one location to the next once they've spawned in.

Does The Forgotten have a house in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The Forgotten marked on a map in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

Although you might see the house icon on The Forgotten's map icon, they don't technically have a house. You can sometimes find them inside The Dark Castle, which you can access through the portal by the Plaza well, so this seems to kind of be their home, but they've never appeared there when it says they're home.

Does The Forgotten have friendship quests in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The Forgotten doesn't seem to have any friendship quests so far, but they do have 10 levels of rewards. Their level 10 reward has the friendship quest icon on it, but no locked quests are listed on the quest page or appear when you chat with them, so it doesn't seem like they actually have any tasks for you to work through. You can still hang out with them, assign them a role, share presents with them, and have daily discussions.

If any new quests become available for The Forgotten or if any of the possible bugs related to finding them are fixed, we'll update all relevant details here.

Maleficent using green magic in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There are many faces, both friendly and not, that you can meet around the village in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One of the many characters you may come across is Maleficent, a powerful fairy you may want to unlock.

If you're eager to add her to your village, you may be wondering what needs to be done to recruit her to the valley. She's not an easy character to get, so here's what you need to know to unlock Maleficent in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to get Maleficent in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Talking to Maleficent in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

Maleficent will be unlockable after The Storybook Vale update becomes available on July 9. She's not available yet, although she seems to be a bit bugged as she's already appearing around the Vale despite not being a character you can invite to the valley just yet.

If you do run into her, you can't talk or interact with her in any way. This is because her appearance is not intentional and is entirely a glitch. The only time you can actually chat with her for now is through The Mistress of All Evil quest, which is one of the final tasks featured in part one.

She will be interactable and unlockable as a villager once part two of The Storybook Vale is released, but for now, all you can do to work on getting her is ensure you have all of her required prerequisites done.

Maleficent prerequisites in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Before you can unlock Maleficent, you need to complete the main storyline for The Storybook Vale. So far, there are 18 quests you have to complete before you can recruit her.

More may be added in the update on July 9, so we'll add all additional details here when they become available. To be prepared for her arrival, be sure to tackle all of these quests before then.

  • Welcome to the Storybook Vale
  • A New Chapter
  • A Land of Myths and Legends
  • Guts & Glory
  • A Moth to a Flame
  • The Promethean Flame
  • The Marble Colossus
  • Losing Your Marbles
  • Mount Olympus
  • The Wolf of the Wilds
  • A Sheep in Wolf's Clothing
  • Not by the Hair on My Chinny Chin Chin
  • Curiouser and Curiouser…
  • Teapot Falls
  • The Fallen Fortress
  • The Knights of the Round Table
  • The Mistress of All Evil
  • A Long-Awaited Invitation

You'll also want to ensure you've unlocked and befriended Merida, Flynn, and Hades. You may even need to be level 10 or close to it with all three characters, but we won't know for sure until the update is released.

Disney Dreamlight Valley inside the Captain's Cabin

Disney Dreamlight Valley's Skull Rock is full of mysterious puzzles, hidden objects, and other peculiar interactions as you progress further. During the "A Ship of Gold" quest, you'll have to find a key to the Captain's Cabin so you can obtain an item needed to open the area's second gate.

How to find the key to the Captain's Cabin in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You'll spot the Captain's Cabin key next to The Forgotten after receiving this quest objective. If you're in a different location, head across the pirate ship toward the Forgotten and the second gate until you spot a golden key on a small wooden table.

It can be very easy to miss this key if you solved Skull Rock's barrel puzzle on the opposite side of these upper levels. As you run over to The Forgotten, the key will start sparkling to indicate its exact location. Pick it up to advance the quest.

Captain's Cabin location in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You'll find the Captain's Cabin on the pirate ship in the center of Skull Rock. Now that you've used Pixie Dust to make it fly, you can easily access the ship and this cabin. If you're on the boat, turn toward the Forgotten's location to find a wooden door leading directly to the room you're looking for.

Inside the Captain's Cabin, you'll find a rope winch needed to advance the "A Ship of Gold" quest. You will also spot a treasure chest at the back of the room, but you won't be able to open it just yet. If you're curious, you can either learn more about this chest by progressing through the mission or read on for more details. Otherwise, bring the rope winch to the Forgotten's location to proceed as usual.

How to open the Captain's Cabin treasure chest in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Opening the Captain's Cabin treasure chest requires unlocking the second gate, talking to the Forgotten, and picking up the silver key in the musical note room. After finding your first glowing musical note, you'll find the silver key on the floor near the Forgotten and Peter Pan's shadowy figure. Pick it up before bringing it back to the Captain's Cabin.

Inside the Captain Cabin's chest is a map revealing the existence of buried treasure. After talking to the Forgotten, head out of Skull Rock and board the nearby raft to find a small island housing this treasure. It'll mainly have ingots and gems, but you'll progress the quest, which is the most important part.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Peter Pan posing alone

As you complete Peter Pan's friendship missions in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you'll eventually learn that he's a picky eater. During his "A Real Hideout" quest, he'll task you with cooking him food before creating a hideout in his home. It may be goofy, but it's also fun and light-hearted.

Cook a five-star entrée for Peter Pan

After reaching level four with Peter Pan, you'll unlock his "A Real Hideout" quest. He's initially grumpy, but after a brief chat, you realize he's just hungry. Rather than letting him continue eating Vanellope's house, you decide to cook him a special meal.

Disney Dreamlight Valley five-star entree
Screenshot by Destructoid

Your first idea is to create a five-star entrée for Peter Pan. You have several options to pick from, from Arendellian Pickled Herring to Fabulous Fajitas, depending on which expansions you own. I went with Bulgar Salad since it's one of the easier options on the list.

Cook kid-friendly food for Peter Pan

Once you give the entrée to Peter Pan, he'll immediately express distaste for what you gave him, saying it's "for grown-ups." It's time for us to make some kid-friendly meals.

Since our character doesn't fully know what makes a dish kid-friendly, you'll need to chat with Remy and Sulley for some ideas. They'll suggest making French fries and a peanut butter sandwich. You'll need the following ingredients for both meals:

  • Canola
  • Potato
  • Peanuts
  • Wheat

Wheat and peanuts are the easiest to obtain. You can buy peanuts from the Chez Remy shop, while wheat is available from Peaceful Meadow Goofy stalls. Canola and potatoes are slightly trickier, as both are sold from the Goofy Stalls in the Sunlit Plateau and the Forgotten Lands, respectively.

Disney Dreamlight Valley peanut butter sandwich recipe

After collecting all four items, cook up some French fries and a peanut butter sandwich, then deliver them to Peter Pan. He's much happier with these items. However, the happiness is cut short, as he's quick to remind you that there are more chores to do. More specifically, he needs help cleaning out trash from his house.

Clean trash piles out of Peter Pan's house

Now that Peter Pan has eaten some delicious food, it's time to help him clean his house. As you enter the building, you'll spot six trash piles scattered around. Clean these up to find an old swing, leading to the two of you unlocking a memory.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Pete Pan's buried treasure memory
Screenshot by Destructoid

This memory reveals three separate locations, each holding buried treasure. While Peter puts up the swing in his house, he tasks you with searching for all three treasures.

All Peter Pan treasure locations

Peter Pan's memory reveals three treasures that you can find around your Disney Dreamlight Valley village. Here's a complete list of all three items and their locations:

  • Telescope: Outside the treehouse in the Forgotten Lands.
  • Hooked Lamp: Outside Ursula's Cave in Dazzle Beach.
  • Bag of Treasures: Outside Mother Gothel's house in the Glade of Trust.

You'll need to locate dig spots at all three spots, as revealed in the memory. After finding all three, return to Peter Pan's house and place each treasure inside it. You'll put two of them near a wooden desk next to the door while the telescope goes in front of the window next to the bathtub.

Once you place down all three items, talk to Peter Pan to wrap up his "A Real Hideout" quest, bringing you one step closer to finishing his friendship series.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Peter Pan as a villager

As you wrap up Disney Dreamlight Valley's Skull Rock storyline, you'll progress through the Music's on the Walls quest enough to meet Peter Pan for the first time. He'll greet you by calling you a boring adult, prompting you to prove that you're still fun by playing hide-and-seek with him.

Peter Pan hiding spot hints in Disney Dreamlight Valley

As Peter Pan flies off to hide, you have three options for finding him:

  • Search around Dreamlight Valley manually
  • Follow Peter Pan's pixie dust trail
  • Ask other villagers for help

While you can enjoy the challenge of locating him without hints, this is a tough feat unless you look for a while or get lucky. Instead, you can follow his dust trail out of Skull Rock and into your village, or talk to other characters for more information.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Peter Pan's pixie dust
Screenshot by Destructoid

The easiest way to find Peter Pan is to talk to other villagers. Here's a list of every character involved in this hide-and-seek game and their hints:

  • Vanellope: He flew toward the Plaza.
  • Simba: He's hiding outside the regular Valley.
  • Nala: She could smell his Pixie Dust in the Plaza.
  • Scar: He's hiding somewhere dark and frightening.
  • Goofy: He's the "king of the castle" when he wins.
  • Olaf: He often enters the Plaza's portal.

Combining these six hints with the Pixie Dust's trail will lead you directly toward the Plaza, unveiling Peter Pan's hiding spot.

Peter Pan hiding spot location in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Peter Pan is hiding within the Dark Castle. You can access the Dark Castle through the portal next to the Plaza's Wishing Well. As you enter this building, you'll find more Pixie Dust atop a portal, leading you down a path to Peter Pan.

However, there are a few doors to go through first. Each time you enter a portal or door, you'll spot Pixie Dust near your next location. After a few entrances, you'll spot Peter Pan down a hallway full of night thorns. Talk to him to wrap up the hide-and-seek game.

Once the hide-and-seek game ends, Peter Pan will join your village as a permanent resident. Place down his house in any location you like and pay Scrooge's 20,000 Star Coin fee to officially invite him. Now, you have access to his friendship quests, all while wrapping up the "The Music's on the Walls" quest.

Standing with Peter Pan in the Plaza in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Peter Pan is finally in your village as an official character you can get to know better, so it's time to get to work tackling his friendship quests in Disney Dreamlight Valley. The first quest he offers you is Shadow Tag, and it's a tricky one to get done.

This task is the first step for befriending Peter Pan, so if you want to unlock more quests and earn all of his friendship rewards, it's a crucial one to get done. Here's a complete walkthrough for the Shadow Tag quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to complete Shadow Tag in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Screenshot by Destructoid

To finish the Shadow Tag quest, you need to help Peter Pan track down his missing shadow. There's quite a lot you need to get done to find it, so here's a full walkthrough of all essential steps.

Talk to Minnie Mouse

Peter Pan thought he heard Minnie Mouse scream, so work on tracking her down around the valley with him to have a chat about what happened. She thinks she saw it in her house, so go with her and Peter Pan inside her home, wherever you have it placed around the main valley or one of the DLC worlds.

Search Minnie Mouse's house for Peter Pan's shadow

Once you're inside her house, interact with the red lamp on the end table near the left side of the bed. As soon as you do, Peter Pan's shadow will briefly appear. It gets away, though, so chat with him about what to do next.

Looking at red light that can be interacted with in disney dreamlight valley

Craft the Shadow Spotlight

To catch the Shadow, you need to trap it in a spotlight like you previously did in the Shadows on the Wall quest. Before you can replicate this process, you need to craft four Shadow Spotlights you can use. To make these items, you need:

  • 15 Glass
  • Six Iron Ingots
  • Two Diamonds

Once you have all of the required materials, head to any crafting station around the valley and switch over to the Functional Items category. Select the Shadow Spotlight option and make four of them.

With the four Shadow Spotlights made, track down Sally around the village to chat and acquire a helpful Shadow Thread item. With this item in your inventory, you can now meet back up with Peter Pan to progress.

Meet with Peter Pan

Head to Belle and The Beast's castle, wherever you have it placed, to check in with Peter Pan about what to do next. Once you're inside, give the Shadow Thread you got from Sally to him.

Place the Shadow Spotlights

It's now time to place the handy Shadow Spotlights you previously made. Walk over to the long red carpet lining the middle of the castle and interact with each of the four sparkling spots along it to place down all four lights.

After they've been placed, the Shadow will be trapped just like it was before. Listen as Kristoff chats to Peter Pan and works on sewing his Shadow back to him. Chat with Peter Pan once they're done to officially conclude the Shadow Tag quest as he's now officially reunited with his Shadow.

Standing by three jade skulls in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Just about everything you encounter inside Skull Rock is some kind of puzzle waiting to be solved. One of the trickier ones you'll come across is the Jade Skull riddles, a series of questions you need to get right to move forward.

Riddle puzzles are usually pretty easy to guess away at until you get them right, but this one is a lot more complex and takes a long time to get done if you keep trying to guess the correct answers. It's much more efficient to go in with the correct solutions to get it done, so here are all Jade Skull riddle answers in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to solve the Jade Skull riddles in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Talking to three jade skulls in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

To solve the Jade Skull riddles in Skull Rock during the Shadows on the Wall quest, you need to answer three questions presented by them correctly. If you miss even one, they will not allow you to venture any further, so accuracy is crucial for completing this task.

They don't tell you whether you passed the test until after it's done, which means there's no way to know which questions you got right and which you got wrong. It's s surprisingly tricky set of riddles to get done, especially in comparison to older puzzles of a similar style like the Pencil Bird's questions and answers.

Skull Rock riddle answers in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The correct answers for the three riddles given to you by the Jade Skulls are a pirate ship, a pixie, and a pan flute. If you're not sure which answer goes with each question, here are all three questions and the correct answer for them.

  • Question one: I'm used to exploring the waters and shores, a swaying home atop the sea-foam. What am I?

    • Answer: A pirate ship.

  • Question two: I'm a winged creature, small and bright, with magic dust to grant you flight. Don't be fooled; I've courage twice my size. Date to doubt; that's just unwise. What am I?

    • Answer: A pixie.

  • Question three: I'm an instrument of wind, and for him I'll always play as he laughs and grins to lead the way. What am I?

    • Answer: A pan flute.

With this task out of the way, you can move on to other key quests around Skull Rock. There are still plenty of secrets to uncover in the Mysteries of Skull Rock update. Next, you can get to work on A Ship of Gold, using Pixie Dust to make something fly, and unlocking Peter Pan.

Disney Dreamlight Valley glowing music note puzzle

It's time to play some musical tunes in Disney Dreamlight Valley's Skull Rock cave. During the "The Music's on the Walls" quest, you'll search for glowing musical notes before using them to assemble a complete score. The difficult part is arranging them in the correct sequence.

How to play the complete score using music notes in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There are two parts to completing this puzzle. First, you'll need to look at the sheet music you and the Forgotten created after you found all five glowing musical notes. Using this information, you'll use the nearby barrels to raise and lower each note so that it matches what's on the sheet.

This portion of the quest is divided into two parts: the left and right sides of the music wall. Let's check out each part in more detail.

Left side of the music wall

Disney Dreamlight Valley left side music score
Screenshot by Destructoid

The left side of the wall is, for some, the easiest of the two to solve. Using the sheet music as reference, start by tapping each of the three barrel's buttons once. This'll align two of the three, letting you focus on the third until its bottom is sitting atop the third line. Arranging them this way will complete this wall, knocking out half of this puzzle.

Right side of the music wall

The second part of this puzzle is taking the right side wall and repeating the process from before. However, this one can be a little tricky to complete if you're basing it on how the notes are oriented on the sheet music page. Instead, focus on the number of lines.

Disney Dreamlight Valley right side music score
Screenshot by Destructoid

When you first look at the sheet music, it can appear as if the bottom of the notes touches the edges of the wall's borders. Instead, you want to make sure the circles rest on and atop the fourth line. The lines won't touch the bottom of the wall, but they will be in the correct spots.

You'll need to press each button a few times to position them correctly. If you accidentally press one too many times, a few extra activations will bring it back down to the bottom of the board, letting you repeat it until you get the right sequence.

Completing the Skull Rock's music note puzzle will help you advance through the "The Music's on the Walls" quest, revealing a second half to this sequence that closely mimics the first. The only difference is that you'll need to craft and use a Pixie Dust lantern to trap Peter Pan again before continuing.

The Battle Bus SUV In Fortnite

The Battle Bus SUV, or the Battle Bus car body (if I am being technical), has intrigued the Fortnite community since the item was leaked on social media.

Many users have been trying to figure out how to get this unique-looking item. However, it's a piece of vehicle that requires you to play another popular multiplayer title - Rocket League. This limited-time DLC was available on the Epic Games Store, and those lucky enough to redeem it in time can transfer it to Fortnite via a couple of additional steps.

Who can use the Battle Bus SUV in Fortnite?

The Battle Bus SUV is available to two categories of users.

  • Players who have owned it since it first appeared in the OG version. Back then, it was a paid option.
  • Players who have recently redeemed it on the Epic Games Store in Rocket League. This option was free to all (including those who own the OG version), but it was only available till June 13 (June 14 in some regions).

As of writing, the OG version is bugged for some players. The vehicle hasn't appeared for them inside the game, although it's available in the inventory. The bug will likely be fixed soon (so there is nothing to worry about if your bus has disappeared).

Battle Bus SUV in Fortnite
Screenshot via Reddit/AccomplishedClaim633

How do you use the Battle Bus SUV in Fortnite?

If you have the bus from the OG version, you can use it by equipping it from the inventory (given you don't have the bug). Here are the additional steps if you redeemed the vehicle on Rocket League.

  • Open the game.
  • Go to the settings.
  • Link the game to your Epic Games Store account (in case it's not connected automatically)
  • Log in to Fortnite using the same Epic Games Store account, and all the applicable vehicles will be transferred to the battle royale.
  • You can then equip the item from your inventory.

Once again, this is only meant for those who redeemed and added the vehicle to Rocket League before June 13. You can't add the free version to Fortnite now if you didn't do it last week.

Buried treasure in sand in disney dreamlight valley

You're sent on a bit of a scavenger hunt for some missing items during your adventures in Skull Rock in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One of the key items you're tasked with finding is the buried pirate treasure.

Since you're only given a vague map and no real direction for finding this item, it's fairly tricky to track down. It's especially tough to locate since it's not somewhere you're likely to look. Here's how to find the buried pirate treasure in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Where is the buried pirate treasure in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Digging for buried pirate treasure in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

The buried pirate treasure is hidden over on Ariel's deserted island in DDV. You can access this secret area by using the boat near Skull Rock. If you don't remember where this is, head to the very southeast end of Dazzle Beach and look for the tiny island just off the coast. Ariel's boat is a brown raft with a white sail that's sitting near the very south end of the valley, right by this island.

Interact with Ariel's boat to travel to the hidden beach area. This is the same region you visited back when you first unlocked her. It's a small region with not much to do, but quests do occasionally task you with venturing to this location.

Once you're on the island, turn left to find the buried pirate treasure right near the water. It's also fairly close to the pillar puzzle you may have previously completed for Aladdin during the All That Glitters quest.

The buried treasure is a small sand mound with a black flag that has a white skull on it. It looks the same as some of the piles you may have run into while exploring Skull Rock, but it's a lot more important since it's essential for progressing The Music's on the Walls quest.

How to get buried pirate treasure in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To acquire the buried treasure, equip your Royal Shovel and dig it up. Inside, you'll find a few Gems and Minerals you don't need for the quest, but you'll also find the special Pan Flute item. This is an essential quest object that you need to get closer to unlocking Peter Pan. With this step out of the way, you can move on to finding all Glowing Musical Notes, which is the other item you need to move forward in The Music's on the Walls quest.

Disney Dreamlight Valley glowing music note puzzle

When you think of pirate caves in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you wouldn't initially think of puzzles involving glowing music notes. At least, that's not what I initially imagined, but here we are. While you'll find one within this cave, the rest require some exploring.

First Glowing Musical Note location

Screenshot by Destructoid

You'll find the first Glowing Musical Note inside Skull Rock. After talking to The Forgotten and discovering the "The Music's on the Walls" quest for the first time, you'll turn around and spot this note floating in the air. Run after it and collect it to progress through the mission, revealing that you have four more of these to locate.

Second Glowing Musical Note location

The second music note is inside Ursula's Cave on Dazzle Beach. You can access this by heading to the northeastern edge of the biome next to the ramp leading into the Forest of Valor. Inside this cave is a hidden treasure spot, along with a glowing musical note in the water.

This note is particularly difficult to obtain, as the fishing spot requires precise targeting to land. Aim for the front edge closest to your character for the best shot at succeeding.

Third Glowing Musical Note location

Our next stop is the Forgotten Lands. In the Forgotten Lands is a night-thorn-covered treehouse that, upon entering, will reveal our fourth note. Chase after it before heading to your fifth and final destination.

The final Glowing Musical Note is inside Dream Castle. Right when you enter it, you'll spot the note in the foyer to chase after. Make sure to pack some extra food to restore your run energy.

Once you have all five Glowing Musical Notes, return to Skull Rock and talk to The Forgotten to begin a new puzzle. Your goal is to use the six barrels and your newly created sheet music to play the complete score, letting you progress through the Music's on the Walls quest and get one step closer to unlocking Peter Pan.

Season 17 of OW2 is called "Powered Up!" and although there isn't a new hero this time around (the next hero will be playable in a test later this summer, though), there's plenty of other quality of life changes and updates coming to the game when the new season begins on June 24.

Here's everything new and different coming to OW2 season 17.

Season 17, Powered Up!, is all about the maps. There's new maps, map voting, and maps being added to the Stadium pool, so let's look at what's new and different in OW2's latest season.

Map voting

A long-requested addition, Map Voting arrives in season 17 in both Quick Play and Competitive Play.

"After role queue locks, you'll get three randomized map options to choose from," Blizzard said. "Every vote adds a 1-in-10 chance to that map's odds, and the winner is selected using a roulette style roll. To keep things chill, team chat, battle tags, and individual votes are hidden, so there's no pressure—just a better chance at playing on maps you love. And leaver penalties kick in as soon as voting starts, so stick around and make it count."

New maps

A new Flashpoint map joins the Core experience in season 17. Aatlis is based in Morroco, and features lush gardens to luxury resort spaces." It's a map that's "built for tighter fights, cleaner rotations, and fast paced momentum," according to the developer.

In Stadium, Esperança and Samoa join the map pool.

New Stadium heroes

Disney Dreamlight Valley memory found during the Music's on the Wall quest

Disney Dreamlight Valley's Skull Cave missions have been challenging, and the "The Music's on the Walls" quest is no exception. You're immediately met with a musical puzzle requiring you to go on a scavenger hunt for glowing notes and buried treasure.

Find the Glowing Musical Note

After following The Forgotten through the second gate into the music puzzle room, turning around will reveal a glowing musical note floating in the air. It'll drop a memory after you follow and collect it, showing an image of Peter Pan flying around while surrounded by more notes.

Unlock the Captain's Chest

With this memory on hand, your next task is to find and unlock the captain's chest. If you haven't yet, return to The Forgotten and pick up the silver key on the floor near them and Peter Pan's shadow before entering the pirate ship's quarters. Here, you'll spot a chest containing a treasure map. Let's tell the Forgotten about it.

Buried Pirate Treasure location

After speaking to The Forgotten about the pirate map, you'll both decide to split up to find additional musical notes and the treasure. Locating the buried treasure requires leaving Skull Rock by using the rope on the ship's side and boarding the raft on the Orb Pillar Island in Dazzle Beach. Riding this raft brings you to another island, where you'll find a buried treasure spot.

All Glowing Musical Note locations

A tricky part of this quest is locating five glowing musical notes. You found the first one while completing the objectives above, but there are still four more to find. Here's a complete list of every musical note location, including the first one you encounter:

  • Near The Forgotten after discovering the music note puzzle.
  • Inside Ursula's Cave in Dazzle Beach.
  • Inside Olaf's Cave in Frosted Heights.
  • Inside the treehouse within the Forgotten Lands.
  • Inside Dream Castle's foyer.

While the first music note was within Skull Rock, the other four require venturing back out into Dreamlight Valley, exploring caves, and chasing after each note. Once you have all five and the buried treasure, return to Skull Rock to complete a musical puzzle.

Play the complete music score

Now that you've gather every glowing music note, it's time to summon Peter Pan once and for all. To do this, we need to talk to The Forgotten, arrange everything on a musical sheet alongside a Pan Flute you collected earlier in the mission, and play a complete score.

Disney Dreamlight Valley right side music score
Screenshot by Destructoid

This task bears a strong resemblance to A Rift in Time's music note arrangement quest. Like this task, you'll need to adjust the six music notes on the left and right sides of the room to match what's on the sheet in the center of the room. You can do this by activating the six barrels in front of each wall. Press these buttons until each note is resting atop the lines shown on this sheet to progress the quest.

Redo the music walls

Once you finish both walls and activate the Pan Flute, you'll quickly realize Peter Pan's shadow can move the notes around. This sequence of events will lead to you redoing the music notes and, more importantly, making another Pixie Dust lantern to trap him a second time.

Don't bother redoing the music note walls first. Peter Pan will continue flying around and moving them, so your best bet is to craft the Pixie Dust lantern from previous quests and place it on the rope winch near the left wall. That way, you can activate both winches to trap Peter Pan, allowing you to rearrange the notes again.

Playing hide-and-seek with Peter Pan

Once you redo the musical walls, Peter Pan's true form will appear in front of you. However, the conversation isn't all fun and rainbows, as he'll remark that you're now a grown adult. Disinterested, he'll almost fly away before you offer to participate in a hide-and-seek match.

When you're ready to find Peter Pan, head out of Skull Rock and start searching. You have three options: look around your village until you see him, ask for help from other villagers, or follow his Pixie Dust trail until you spot him. Using his initial trail will bring you outside of Skull Rock, with the rest leading directly to his hiding spot.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Dark Castle portal
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you decide to talk to other villagers, you'll pick up clues that he flew toward the Plaza, enjoyed hiding in dark castles, and used a portal to reach his favorite hiding spot. Combining this information with his Pixie Dust trail will bring you to the Dark Castle's portal near the Plaza's Wishing Well. Enter this portal and follow the dust trails until you spot Peter Pan.

Inviting Peter Pan to your Dreamlight Valley village

Now that you've won Peter Pan's hide-and-seek match, he'll be ready to officially join your village as a permanent resident. Head back into Dreamlight Valley, place his house anywhere you wish, and pay Scrooge's 20,000 Star Coin fee to welcome Peter Pan into your village. One last conversation with him and The Forgotten will wrap up the "The Music's on the Walls" quest and conclude this portion of Skull Rock's storyline.

Standign by Max the dog in front of a flying sship in disney dreamlight valley

Skull Rock might be the most complex location we've ever had to navigate in Disney Dreamlight Valley. It's packed with puzzles and riddles galore, like the task that asks you to make something fly.

You're not given any real guidance for this task, and although there are two small hints that guide you in the right direction, it's still a pretty tough quest to solve. If this one has you stumped, here's how to use the Pixie Dust to make something fly in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Use the Pixie Dust to make something fly in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The object you need to make fly during the Ship of Gold quest is the pirate ship. The name of this quest gives you a big hint as to what needs to be done, but it's still a pretty tricky task to solve, especially if it's been a while since you've seen Peter Pan.

Near the end of Peter Pan, the main characters apply some Pixie Dust to the massive pirate ship so Wendy and her brothers can get home. You need to do the same here, although your goal is to raise it high enough to use it as a bridge that can help you reach a new area. The ship glows golden once you get the Pixie Dust applied, which is why the quest is called Ship in Gold.

To apply the Pixie Dust to the ship, approach the front middle area that's accessible using the pier near the entrance to Skull Rock. Walk right up to it and select the interact button to transfer the Pixie Dust. As soon as you do, the ship will soar up into the air so you can use it to access some new parts of Skull Rock.

What can you make fly in Skull Rock in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The only item you can make fly in Skull Rock is the massive pirate ship sitting in the water on the first floor. There's a small hint that this is what you need to do in the form of a note attached to a pole on the third level, but it's easy to miss, which makes this a fairly tricky task to get done.

There's still plenty more to get done if you want to unlock Peter Pan, so be sure to explore everything the Mysteries of Skull Rock update has to offer so you don't miss out on any of the content it brought to the valley.

Disney Dreamlight Valley barrel puzzle in Skull Rock

Disney Dreamlight Valley's Skull Rock puzzles are no joke. First, we had a lantern puzzle to solve, and now we have to move a bunch of barrels to unlock a gate. Fortunately, the Jade Skulls are the MVPs of this quest and have some key hints to help you progress.

Skull Rock barrel puzzle hints in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Solving Skull Rock's barrel puzzle during A Ship of Gold requires finding six large barrels and rotating them so their symbols match. You can move them by interacting with each barrel, moving them slightly to get the perfect angles for each.

Optionally, you can receive hints from the Jade Skulls and work out the puzzle based on their clues. Below are all three clues they give you:

  • I'll speak of the pixie, please do listen well. She chimes and she twinkles, like sounds from a bell.
  • A boy looks down, his Shadow be gone! He'll return when be can, with his Shadow sewed on.
  • Oh captain, poor captain, lost a hand to a croc. He still gets a fright, when he hears a tick tock.

These hints reveal that we're pairing a pixie with a bell, a shadowed boy with something involving sewing, and a captain's hand with a clock. Now's your final chance to solve the puzzle on your own before we get right into the solution.

Skull Rock barrel puzzle solution in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Below are all three pairings you need for Skull Rock's barrel puzzle:

  • Tinkerbell and Bell
  • Hook and Clock
  • Peter Pan and Sewing Needle

However, knowing each pair is only half the battle. Now, you need to rotate each barrel perfectly so each one aligns with the other. Let's dive into each pair in more detail.

First pair of symbols

Disney Dreamlight Valley bell barrel
Screenshot by Destructoid

The first set of symbols involves a Bell and Tinkerbell. You'll find the bell right next to the ramp leading from the lantern puzzle's location, while Tinkerbell's barrel is in front of the locked gate on the opposite side of the cave. Rotate the bell barrel so that it points toward the pirate ship and the Tinkerbell one so its edge is next to the ship's lantern.

Second pair of symbols

Disney Dreamlight Valley Peter Pan and sewing needle barrels

Next on the list is Peter Pan and the sewing needle's barrels. Peter Pan's barrel is right next to the bell one, while the sewing needle is on the far left side of the platform where you found Tinkerbell's. Move Peter Pan's barrel so it's facing the leafy green plants in front of it and the sewing needle one so it's looking across the chasm.

Third pair of symbols

Disney Dreamlight Valley clock barrel
Screenshot by Destructoid

Last but not least, we have the Hook and Clock. Rocks initially block the clock barrel. Break them before turning the barrel so it faces the pirate's ship before crossing the boat. Your last step is to rotate the book's barrel so it's pointing toward the ship's steering wheel.

Once you move all six barrels, you'll complete the puzzle, letting you advance through the A Ship of Gold quest.

Destiny 2 Edge of Fate Hunter

When I opened up Steam today, I saw that there was a Destiny 2 update queued. And that's the first time I've thought about the game in what feels like a long time.

The new Edge of Fate DLC is now less than a month from releasing, and I realized that I don't really feel anything about it. I'm not hyped or concerned, I'm just...indifferent. And many other long-time players are feeling the same way.

Destiny 2 Edge of Fate key art
Image via Bungie

I have thousands of hours logged in the franchise since it launched in 2014. My friends and I played the hell out of Destiny and Destiny 2, but now many of us are just feeling kind of "meh" about Edge of Fate. Maybe that will change once it's out, but for now, the excitement is just no longer there.

I'm far from alone in these thoughts, too. My friend group who I played every raid and dungeon with over the years is indifferent. And so are many others, as evidenced by a recent Reddit discussion from June 17.

"I still have no idea if I even care or not," one player said of Edge of Fate. "Nothing from any of the reveals has me interested. I don't much care for MetroidVania styles of gameplay nor do I care about transforming into a small ball. It's a 'wait for reviews and see' for me."

Edge of Fate is the beginning of Year of Prophecy for Destiny 2, the latest era in the game after its Light and Darkness Saga, which concluded with The Final Shape DLC that launched a year ago. Maybe that has something to do with the lack of anticipation we're feeling, seeing as the chapter we all played and invested in for years has now closed and this is the beginning of something new.

We finally had that storyline payoff, and now we're entering uncharted territory. But instead of generating excitement, I think many of us kind of feel exhaustion, even with a new location to explore, a new raid, new characters, and whole new storyline

"I started playing this game a decade ago, a lot of life has happened between those moments," another gamer remarked. "I've never had less time to game than I do now, and I was incredibly excited to see all of the changes to remove power requirements and treadmill from the game with Final Shape. This new content strategy is moving in the diametric opposite direction with even more focus on your progress and time investment being temporary."

Destiny 2 Edge of Fate new Fallen enemies

Edge of Fate is once again overhauling player leveling and armor, making it so the day one experience might feel like a video tutorial is necessary. Maybe this could be a plus? It will scare away others, for sure, having to re-learn everything once more. But also, Edge of Fate's reveals haven't shown too much to get all that excited for, so I hope Bungie has some good marketing prepared in the weeks ahead.

My interest in Destiny 2 has admittedly been steadily waning over the years, and this is by far the least excited I've been for an expansion. Maybe it's burnout, maybe it's that I'm getting old, or maybe it's a combination of several facets, but I'm hoping that things will change.

I'll be there to play Edge of Fate day one on July 15, but whatever happens after that is no longer guaranteed.

Big Top looking down at the camera on Roof Access in Secret of the Mimic

Having played all mainline FNAF games, I was eager to see how far the series has come and if an origin story without William Afton can deliver. Could a tale about corrupted software and a broken family truly replace years of child murders and haunted animatronics?

The latest Five Nights at Freddy's tells the origin story of the Mimic as a prequel to Fredbear's Family Diner. Steel Wool Studios has fully left behind Scott Cawthon's unforgiving point-and-click adventures, in favor of a 3D, more kid-friendly world that's heavily focused on stealth. Lore is to be expected with any FNAF game, and while it delivers in abundance, there are a lot of areas where Secret of the Mimic falls flat. So let's get into it.

Is it scary? No, not really

Driving at the start of Secret of the Mimic
Screenshot by Destructoid

Secret of the Mimic takes place inside Murray's Costume Manor, a brand new setting for the series, where we play as Fazbear Entertainment technician, Arnold. The main threat is introduced off the jump, for the abandoned facility isn't so abandoned (classic). The Mimic is waiting for your arrival, and it can take the form of any animatronic. This camouflage is an effective way of introducing horror because it creates uneasiness and paranoia, suggesting that you're never truly safe. The idea is fantastic because the environment is full of unused animal suits just collecting dust, yet they are perfect for a hostile entity to jump inside at any moment. Isolation is prevalent in this entry, a feeling I don't think Security Breach captured.

A room full of unused animatronics in Secret of the Mimic
Screenshot by Destructoid

However, the horror quickly fizzles out when the Mimic just spawns inside an animatronic that wasn't in the room to begin with, making the main threat seem more like an annoying poltergeist than a predator stalking its prey. The concept of the Mimic gets tiresome fast and becomes frustrating to deal with, especially when you're trying to enjoy the innovative way Secret of the Mimic handles collectible hunting.

Repetition kills horror

Jackie in the Box hurtling towards the camera
Screenshot by Destructoid

The scare factor is removed completely, even before you meet Jackie in the Box, the first "boss" in Secret of the Mimic. The chase sequences in this entry are underwhelming, repetitive, and have a strong likeness to Poppy Playtime.

Each boss arena concludes the same way, with Arnold falling and losing consciousness. The plot and your objective are simple and follow the same formula throughout, where you complete a task, run from a boss, upgrade your Data Diver, talk to Dispatch, and repeat. Because it relies on the same format, there's nothing about Secret of the Mimic that feels fresh or inviting. Engagement is difficult when you're playing the same hour of gameplay on a loop. By the time I was looking for the last eight collectibles in New Game+, I'd gotten so fed up with the Mimic and wondered if getting the secret ending was even worth it.

Frozen on a full body shot of Nurse Dollie
Screenshot by Destructoid

I experienced my fair share of performance issues playing Secret of the Mimic, which I feel is incredibly important to mention, as this game costs $40. I lost an hour of gameplay during Foxy's stage play and Nurse Dollie's sections because it was permanently autosaving, yet didn't actually save, which reset my progress when I loaded in from a "game over" just to freeze in front of Nurse Dollie's face. I also had to manually close the game repeatedly because the mouse cursor became tiny and couldn't line up with the continue or main menu buttons.

Murray's Costume Manor tugs at your curiosity

The strange and gigantic head in the Retail Showroom basement area
Screenshot by Destructoid

There are some strong points with Secret of the Mimic, such as its distinct level design and exploration, which reminded me of System Shock, Fallout, and Alien: Isolation. I really enjoyed the Data Diver mechanic and how you slowly but surely upgrade your permission level so you can backtrack and enter new areas for collectibles, audio logs, and mail. The exploration perfectly pairs with the lore, like you're uncovering a dark secret the further you go—something that was very much missing in the original FNAF games, as lore was exclusive to the mini-games, which gave the series an overall arcade-y feel. It's classic survival horror level design that I'm happy to see make a comeback. Outside of its level design, the text-based adventure of Moon.exe hidden inside Secret of the Mimic carries most of the mystery.

Where FNAF always does well is in its storytelling, and Secret of the Mimic definitely shines brightest here. Intrigue peaked for animatronics like the White Tiger and Moon, but this was confusing as it felt like I'd discovered multiple entities, rather than being stalked by just one.

White Tiger mimic hallucination in basement of Secret of the Mimic
Screenshot by Destructoid

The development of Edwin's story and the reveal in the non-default endings was great, even if the default ending is predictable. But, if you have the patience to see the entire story out, you will surely appreciate the conclusion in New Game+. Annoyingly, replayability is exclusive to the secret ending that is locked behind New Game+, for the only difference is a collectible you cannot get in the base game. You may miss out on some secrets in your first playthrough, but the only standout area lies in the depths of the Retail Showroom.

As much as I enjoyed these aspects, it was infuriating to play through the entire game again and be unable to skip Fiona's quirky dialogue (which was only nice to hear the first time around), and forced to stealthily avoid the Mimic over and over because there's no other gameplay option.

Final thoughts

Backstage area with giant prototype of Fredbear head
Screenshot by Destructoid

Secret of the Mimic doesn't feel like a Five Nights at Freddy's game at all. There isn't that strong urge to hunt down information because so much is handed to you without any real fight for it. The gameplay is too similar to Poppy Playtime, venturing too close into being a children's horror game than an adult's. While I've always felt mascot horror shouldn't be targeted towards kids because of its content, Secret of the Mimic does just that. There is literally nothing scary about this entry, and it sadly lacks what made the original games so strong: the challenge. Because of this, I clocked out of Secret of the Mimic for the third and final time feeling disappointed.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Skull Rock pixie dust

We're one step closer to unlocking Peter Pan as a villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley. As you progress into the Skull Rock's quests, you'll discover a rogue Pixie Orb flying around Skull Rock and dropping dust all over the place.

Skull Rock Pixie Dust Orb location in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You'll first find A Ship of Gold's Pixie Dust Orb on the bottom level of the cave, in front of its entrance. You unlock this quest objective while searching the upper levels of Skull Rock, so you'll need to head down the cave's ramps until you reach this spot.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Pixie Dust Orb inside Skull Rock
Screenshot by Destructoid

Upon reaching the cave's entrance, the Pixie Dust Orb will fly away. Even though the orb stopped before the cave's exit, don't leave Skull Rock. Instead, pick up the nearby Pixie Dust before turning right toward the nearby gate. Using your winch, you can unlock this entrance, leading you down a path to the pixie orb's next location and beyond.

All Pixie Dust locations in Disney Dreamlight Valley

After descending Skull Rock's ramps and reaching the cave's entrance, you'll automatically find your first Pixie Dust on the ground. It'll appear as a bright gold substance, similar in appearance to sand. After unlocking the gate using the rope winch you found in the previous objective, head down the tunnel to find the orb and your next Pixie Dust on the floor.

Shortly after progressing through the cave, you'll encounter a large boulder blocking the way to your third Pixie Dust. Use your Royal Pickaxe to break it a few times, revealing a chunk of the tunnel and the next dust. The orb will immediately turn right, where you'll realize there are more than just a few of these rocks blocking access to the tunnel. Break them to claim your fourth dust and find a hidden treasure spot containing some gems.

In this small room, you'll notice a crack in the wall, revealing the Pixie Dust Orb far off in the distance with no way to access it. That is until you turn right and find another boulder in the wall. Break this rock before moving forward to encounter two paths. Going forward leads you to a hidden treasure while turning left reveals a second chest and the orb in a connecting room.

The last Pixie Dust spot is the easiest to reach. Rather than running further into the tunnel, backtrack to the second treasure chest's room to spot the Pixie Dust Orb and your final dust pile, wrapping up this part of the "A Ship of Gold" quest and allowing you to progress further.

Holding Max the dog by the Shadow in Skull Rock in Disney Dreaamlight Valley

Peter Pan is a pretty tough guy to find in Disney Dreamlight Valley. If you want to recruit him as a villager, you have to work through several tricky quests, including A Ship of Gold.

Skull Rock is a complex location to navigate, and there's a lot you need to tackle in this task. Here's a complete walkthrough for the A Ship of Gold quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to complete A Ship of Gold in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Looking at the forgotten in the new skull rock area in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

To complete A Ship of Gold, you need to venture further into Skull Rock and work on uncovering the mysteries that lie within. There's a lot to this task, so here's a full breakdown of all the steps you need to get done.

Follow the Shadow further into Skull Rock

Head through the archway you unlocked during the Shadows on the Wall quest, which is right by the Shadow you trapped. Go up the ramps on the other side and meet up with the newly named Forgotten near the top. Talk to them once you reach their location.

Search the area for a way to continue through Skull Rock

You're stuck again, so you need to search around the new area to find a way forward. Approach the rocks located on the left side of where The Forgotten is standing and use your Royal Pickaxe to break them.

When you break the rocks near the very edge of the small cliff you're on, you'll find some Pixie Dust and a Rope Wench on the ground. Pick these items up and return to The Forgotten to discuss what you found.

Pixie Dust and a Rope Wench on ground in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

Follow the Pixie Dust Orb in Skull Rock

When you broke the rocks, a Pixie Dust Orb got free, and you now need to follow the Pixie Dust Orb to pick up all the Pixie Dust it drops. Like the Pixie Dust Orbs you chased around in an earlier quest, this one moves fast and can be easy to lose sight of, so move quickly and carefully to keep up with it.

Gather the Pixie Dust

There are six locations where the Pixie Dust Orb stops to drop some Pixie Dust for you to pick up. If you end up losing sight of it, here's where to find each one.

  • The first Pixie Dust is the one you already found near the edge of the cliff.
  • The second Pixie Dust is down on the first floor, right by the entrance to Skull Rock.
  • The third Pixie Dust is through the door behind the spot where you found the last one. Interact with the sparkling ring on the wall to transfer over the Rope Wench you found during the last step, interact with the wheel, then head through the archway to venture into this new location. Follow the Pixie Dust Orb down deep into the cave until you reach a stone wall. Equip your Royal Pickaxe and swing at the wall to break it. The Pixie Dust Orb will then finally drop the third Pixie Dust on the other side.
  • The fourth Pixie Dust is behind a few more walls that you need to break in the tunnel. Just keep going through it until you find more walls you can break down using your Royal Pickaxe.
  • The fifth Pixie Dust is even further down the tunnel, although it gets even more confusing here as it seems like the Pixie Dust Orb led you to a dead end. At what looks like a dead end, turn right near the chest with some candles sitting on it. Use your Royal Pickaxe to break this hidden wall and reveal a new tunnel. Turn left in the tunnel and follow the path forward before turning left again. The fifth Pixie Dust is right around the corner, down the second tunnel.
  • The sixth Pixie Dust, which is the last one you need, is back in the previous room you just left. The Pixie Dust Orb rushes there after you grab the fifth one, and you need to chase it down and grab it to drop the sixth one and pick up the Pixie Dust Orb too.

Use the Pixie Dust to make something fly

Exit the tunnel and approach the ship on the left side of the first floor. There's a note way up on the third level near The Forgotten that mentions sprinkling Pixie Dust on a ship, but you don't need to actually read this message to tackle the next part of this quest.

Approach the ship by going up the pier and interact with it to transfer the Pixie Dust you found. As soon as you do, the ship will soar up high into the air so you can progress to the next step of this quest.

Cross to the other side of Skull Rock

Make your way back up to where The Forgotten is on the third level of Skull Rock. Cross over the top of the flying ship as a bridge and go down the stairs to head toward the spot where The Forgotten and the Shadow are waiting for you. Chat with The Forgotten about what to do next once you cross.

Solve the Skull Rock barrel puzzle

The next step is to solve the Skull Rock barrel puzzle, and it's easily one of the toughest puzzles we've ever seen in DDV. There are six barrels, each with a unique symbol on it. You need to match the symbols that go together by rotating the correct barrels to face one another. Here's how you do it.

  • Turn the barrel with the hook and the barrel with the clock to face each other. These two symbols are a reference to Captain Hook.
  • Turn the barrel with the bell and the barrel with the pixie to face each other. These two symbols are a reference to Tinker Bell.
  • Turn the barrel with the shadow and the barrel with the sewing needle to face each other. These two symbols are a reference to Peter Pan.

Find the key to the captain's cabin

Your next task is to find the key to the captain's cabin. It's a big yellow key sitting on a circular table right behind The Forgotten, so head over to them near the ship to find it. Once you have this item, head back down into the ship to use it.

Investigate the captain's cabin for another Rope Winch

Interact with the sparkling door near the middle of the ship to transfer the key and open the captain's cabin. Head inside this secret room to search for another Rope Winch, which you need to open another gate in Skull Rock. Walk over to the right corner of the room and pick up the Rope Winch from right next to the piano.

Open the second gate in Skull Rock

Exit the captain's cabin and go back to the area above the ship where The Forgotten is awaiting. Interact with the glowing circle on the wall behind them to transfer the Rope Winch and open the second gate in Skull Rock. Spin the wheel once to officially unlock the gate and finish the A Ship in Gold quest. You're now one step closer to unlocking Peter Pan.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Shadow on the Wall quest character

After repairing three Pixie Dust Lanterns in Disney Dreamlight Valley's Skull Rock questline, your next objective is to look for a strange shadow before trapping it. After all, we want to befriend this mysterious entity, so why not resort to harmless traps?

How to find the strange shadow in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Your first objective in this part of the Shadows on the Wall quest is to look for a strange shadow using the three Pixie Dust Lanterns you recently crafted. After placing them on the three rope winches, you'll be able to rotate them, letting you guide their light to various wooden plank walls surrounding the area.

To find the strange shadow, pick one of the three winches and redirect their light until it hits one of these walls. I used the one on the opposite side of where the Forgotten is standing. Doing this causes the shadow to fly away, confirming its existence. Now that you've found the shadow, it's time to trap it.

How to trap the shadow using Pixie Dust Lanterns in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Trapping the strange shadow requires directing all three lanterns to one spot. Our goal is to find a place that doesn't concentrate the light too much or make it too dim. The best spot for this is right next to The Forgotten on a large wooden plank wall.

More specifically, it's a section that's next to a stack of barrels. All three lights can be positioned comfortably here without becoming too dim or concentrated, allowing you to rotate them freely until they reach this spot.

Screenshot by Destructoid

At first, all three lanterns will point straight toward the pirate ship within Skull Rock. This excludes whichever one you chose to shine to find the shadow. Here's the number of times you need to rotate each one:

  • Winch in front of the Forgotten: Two times
  • Winch next to the gate: Three times
  • Winch next to the cave's ramp: Four times

These numbers will change depending on which winch you activated in the previous objective.

Thankfully, you won't need to reset the puzzle if you miss the spot initially. Just keep rotating each lantern until they hit this place to summon the shadow figure and progress the Shadows on the Wall quest.

Once you shine all three lights on this location, the shadow will appear, letting you talk to it to advance the mission. At least, you can try tospeak to them, but you'll quickly notice an obstacle that prevents you from doing so. Until you advance through the quest and discover why, though, you can rejoice in knowing that you learned how to navigate this light puzzle to trap the shadow.

Broken Lantern in water in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Skull Rock is open, Peter Pan's on the loose, and it's up to you and The Forgotten to figure out how to stop the chaos in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One of the most important tasks in this process is finding the Broken Lanterns.

You search for these items early on during the Shadows on the Wall quest, a tricky but essential task to work through for unlocking Peter Pan. Here's where to find Broken Lanterns in Skull Rock in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

There are three Broken Lanterns around Skull Rock, all of which are found at different spots around the area. Here's how to get each Broken Lantern and where to find them.

  • The first Broken Lantern is in a pile you need to dig up. You can find this pile by going up the ramp inside Skull Rock and walking over to the left side of the area, close to the golden pile of treasure on the ground. This is the same area where The Forgotten is hanging out.
  • The next two Broken Lanterns are both around the same area. Head down the ramp and approach the water in front of the ship to find two golden ripple spots. Equip your Royal Fishing Rod and use it at each spot to fish these two up and add them to your inventory.

The Broken Lantern in the bubble spot near the left side of the boat can be a bit tricky to fish up. If you can't get it from the shore, walk up the small ramp in front of the boat and turn left to fish from the pier.

Once you have all three Broken Lanterns, you need to gather some extra items to repair them so you can progress to the next step in the Shadows on the Wall quest. The other items you need to work on getting are:

Once you have all these items, head to any crafting station around the valley, select the Functional Items category, and craft the three Pixie Dust Lanterns you need to move on. Head back to Skull Rock to chat with The Forgotten and move on to the next step for unlocking Peter Pan.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Shadow on the Wall quest character

At long last, it's time to venture into Disney Dreamlight Valley's Skull Rock and uncover its secrets. While we've had time to speculate what might be lurking within it, we can now officially confirm exactly what and who lives inside by completing the Shadows on the Wall quest.

Entering Skull Rock with The Forgotten

Immediately after completing the "A Forgotten Name" quest and inviting The Forgotten as a Dreamlight Valley villager, you'll officially begin the Shadows on the Wall quest. The mission's first objective prompts you to visit Skull Rock, a structure in the southeastern part of Dazzle Beach.

Investigate Skull Rock for clues

After entering Skull Rock with The Forgotten, you'll notice a mysterious shadow flying around. With both of you slightly confused about what this is, you decide to search for clues.

Screenshot by Destructoid

While you'll find all kinds of hidden treasure containing ingots and gems, the clue you're looking for is a dig spot next to a gate containing a broken lantern. Use your shovel on this spot to claim the lantern before showing it to The Forgotten. Now that you know of the lantern's existence, it's time to find more and repair them.

Find and repair the broken lanterns

You and the Forgotten will quickly realize there are more lanterns to find within Skull Rock. Overall, you'll need the following resources to repair them and progress the Shadows on the Wall quest:

First is the remaining two broken lanterns. You already have one, with the other two sitting in the water on Skull Rock's bottom floor. Head back down the cave's ramp to find two orange fishing spots in the water next to a pirate ship. Fish out of both these spots to find your lanterns.

Next, you'll need gold ingots and glass. You can find both of these from Kristoff's stall or by crafting using gold nuggets and sand, respectively. You can acquire sand by digging in Dazzle Beach, while gold nuggets come from mineral rocks in the Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights, and the Forgotten Lands. Similarly, you can find Vitalys Crystals by mining in the Sunlit Plateau's mineshaft.

Last but not least are Pixie Dust Orbs, which you can find around Dreamlight Valley. They appear as bright, glowing orbs around your village. I found mine in the following locations:

  • On a bridge in the Forest of Valor
  • On a bridge in the Glade of Trust
  • In front of a pond in the Forgotten Lands

If you don't find them in these locations, you'll need to travel around your village until you spot them lingering in the air. They'll fly away as you approach them, so eat enough food to enable sprinting so you can chase after them.

With every resource on hand, go to any crafting station, navigate to Functional Items, and craft the Pixie Dust Lanterns before returning to Skull Rock.

Look for and trap the strange shadow

After attaching all three lanterns to the rope winches near The Forgotten, it's time to start a puzzle to find the mysterious shadow person. Rotate any of the three winches until the light hits the wooden plank walls until you notice the shadow person briefly fly by. Doing this prompts your next objective: trapping them.

Screenshot by Destructoid

Your goal when trapping the shadow is to shine all three lantern lights on one spot. The best place to do this is directly right of the Forgotten. Otherwise, some lanterns will point directly at a wall next to them, making their lights too concentrated. Likewise, directing them into the distance makes their light too dim. The image above shows the exact spot where you need to direct each lantern.

After rotating each lantern, you'll meet the shadow person, who you quickly realize is unable to move or speak. Following this brief conversation, you'll need to rotate one of the lanterns until its light hits the gate next to one of the winches. I used the lantern on the far wall near The Forgotten to do this.

Talk to the Jade Skulls

Before you can conclude the Shadows on the Wall quest, you'll need to have one last conversation with some nearby Jade Skulls. They'll give you a quiz to complete before you can proceed. Below are the answers to all three questions:

  • A pirate ship.
  • A pixie.
  • A pan flute.

Once you answer all three questions, turn the wheel to complete the Shadows on the Wall quest, immediately leading into the A Ship of Gold mission.

Inside skull rock in disney dreamlight valley

After nearly two years of waiting, Skull Rock is ready to be explored in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Unfortnely, you can't venture inside right away, so you may need some help figuring out how to open Skull Rock.

This location can be tricky to open, but what's inside is well worth the wait. If you're having trouble finding your way inside, here's how to open Skull Rock in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to go inside Skull Rock in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To unlock Skull Rock in DDV, there are four key tasks you need to get done:

  • Complete all Dreamlight Valley story quests.
  • Place the pillars in Between a Skull Rock and a Hard Place.
  • Complete A Forgotten Name.
  • Unlock The Forgotten.

Complete all Dreamlight Valley story quests

There are 39 story quests to tackle throughout the entire main storyline for Dreamlight Valley. If you have the A Rift in Time or The Storybook Vale DLCs, you don't need to complete those story quests for this task. Instead, focus only on the tasks centered around the main village. This includes:

  • Welcome to Dreamlight Valley
  • The Royal Tools
  • The Dream Castle
  • Making Cents of Things
  • Fishing Expedition
  • Scrooge McDuck's Grand Re-opening
  • Mickey's Memories
  • Foodception
  • Friendship Is Everything
  • Rebuild the Valley: Peaceful Meadow
  • With Great Power…
  • Rebuild the Valley: Dazzle Beach
  • Lost in the Dark Grove
  • Rebuild the Valley: Forest of Valor
  • The Curse
  • Rebuild the Valley: Glade of Trust
  • Nature & Nurture
  • Rebuild the Valley: Sunlit Plateau
  • Working Miracles
  • The Great Blizzard
  • Rebuild the Valley: Frosted Heights
  • Miracles Take Time
  • Forgotten Memories: Friendship
  • Forgotten Memories: Trust
  • Forgotten Memories: Nurturing
  • What's Left Behind
  • Islands in the Sky
  • The Forgotten Relics
  • Forgotten Relics: The Storybook
  • Forgotten Relics: The Drawing
  • Forgotten Relics: The Blanket
  • Forgotten Relics: Beach Toys
  • The Dark Castle
  • The Remembered
  • Odds & Ends…
  • Between a Skull Rock and a Hard Place
  • Rebuild the Valley: Forgotten Lands
  • Slow and Steady
  • The Memento

Place the pillars in Between a Skull Rock and a Hard Place

The next task you need to get done is placing all pillars around the small island right by Skull Rock during the Between Skull Rock and a Hard Place quest. This is one of the last story quests you need to tackle to open Skull Rock, so if you focus on working through all of them, you'll naturally get this one done too. Placing the pillars is what initially moves Skull Rock, although there's a bit more work to be done before it actually opens.

Complete A Forgotten Name

Talking to the forgotten in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

The A Forgotten Name quest is where Skull Rock finally opens to you. Talk to The Forgotten and head over to Skull Rock to work through this quest. It's a fairly short one, but it's crucial for accessing the inside of Skull Rock.

Unlock The Forgotten

The last step for unlocking Skull Rock is getting The Forgotten in your valley as an official villager. Everything else listed here needs to be complete before you can unlock The Forgotten. They join your vallet right at the very end of the A Forgotten Name quest, and as soon as they do, you can return to Skull Rock and head inside to start the process of unlocking Peter Pan.

Disney Dreamlight Valley pixie dust orb

During The Forgotten and Peter Pan's Shadows on the Wall quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, one of your first tasks is to catch Pixie Dust Orbs to repair some broken lanterns. Since this is a magical realm, it makes sense that we need magic orbs to do this.

However, it can be tough initially to find out where these orbs spawn, especially if you're unsure what to look for. Here's a complete guide to finding all three Pixie Dust Orbs during Disney Dreamlight Valley's Shadows on the Wall quest.

Where to find Pixie Dust Orbs in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Pixie Dust Orbs are bright, golden balls of light that spawn around Dreamlight Valley. You'll need to venture out of Skull Rock and back into your village to find all three. They'll begin flying away upon approaching them, so make sure you eat some food to replenish your run energy before chasing them.

Screenshot by Destructoid

At the time of writing, it's unknown whether these orbs have random spawn spots. Here's a list of where I found my three:

  • On a bridge in the Forest of Valor
  • On a bridge in the Glade of Trust
  • In front of a pond in the Forgotten Lands

While these are the three locations where I found my Pixie Dust Orbs, there's a chance you'll find them in other spots or biomes during your playthrough. Generally speaking, your goal is to look for large, shining balls of golden light as you're traveling around your village. If you spot one in one of these three locations, odds are, you'll find them in all three.

How to catch Pixie Dust Orbs in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Finding Pixie Dust Orbs is only half the battle. Once you approach one, it'll immediately fly away, prompting you to chase after it and collect it using your Interact button or key. Your best bet is to eat food to activate sprinting before running toward it. Otherwise, there's a chance they'll escape your grasp.

Fortunately, they're not particularly fast, so you won't need any complex maneuvering to obtain them. As long as you cut them off or sprint after them, you won't have much trouble getting your hands on each orb.

Once you obtain all three orbs, collect the rest of the Shadows on the Wall's quest materials before heading to a crafting station and repairing your broken lanterns. You'll then be ready to return to Skull Rock and advance through the mission, bringing you one step closer to meeting Peter Pan for the first time.

the forgotten arriving in the village in disney dreamlight valley

After a lot of turmoil, The Forgotten is finally your friend in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Unlocking them as an official villager you can hang out with and earn rewards from requires a bit of extra work, though.

The Forgotten is one of the toughest villagers to unlock since they have a lot of prerequisites that need to be met before they're willing to be your ally. Here's how to unlock The Forgotten in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to get The Forgotten in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You can unlock The Forgotten by completing the A Forgotten Name quest. This quest tasks you with investigating Skull Rock and giving The Forgotten an actual name now that they're your friend rather than your foe.

Getting this quest and befriending The Forgotten requires you to first work through the entire main storyline in DDV, so it's a pretty tough one to access. You can't unlock them early on, so if you're a newer player, you'll have to wait a bit to meet them.

All prerequisites for unlocking The Forgotten in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There are 39 story quests you need to finish before you can recruit The Forgotten as an official valley villager. All of these quests are part of the main storyline, so if you just focus on working through them, you'll move through them at a decent pace. Here is every prerequisite quest you need to get done.

  • Welcome to Dreamlight Valley

You can rename The Forgotten during the A Forgotten Name quest. After naming them for the first time, you can freely change their name whenever you like by selecting the pen icon on The Forgotten in the character tab on the Collection page. Their name is never permanent, so feel free to switch it around whenever you like.

Now that The Forgotten is your friend, you can move on to unlocking Peter Pan. There's plenty more to uncover throughout the massive Mysteries of Skull Rock update.
