Whether you've just got your first handheld gaming PC or you're an early adopter of this portable way to play, you'll no doubt want to know what the best Steam Deck games are, so we've picked out 30 incredible games that you need to play.

While the Steam Deck OLED still sits atop our guide to the best gaming handheld that your money can buy, there are also some serious contenders to Valve's crown, namely the ROG Ally X and AOKZOE A1X. These devices cost considerably more, and also run Windows as an operating system, but the games on this list all work just as well on those handhelds as they do on the Steam Deck.

Our list contains epic RPGs, cozy indie farming games, and everything in between. There's something for everyone on our list, but you might want to invest in an SSD from our guide to the best Steam Deck accessories to ensure you have enough storage to download them.

New details have just leaked about a new next-gen Intel CPU that appears to not only square up to AMD's X3D chips, but punch them in the nose for good measure. According to the latest rumor, Intel is working on a 52-core gaming CPU that has a whopping 288MB of L3 cache, three times the amount found in the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

In our AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D review, we found that this CPU's huge extra supply of cache made it a formidable gaming chip, to the point where it now tops our best gaming CPU guide, leaving Intel floundering when it comes to frame rates. However, if this latest leak is correct, then Intel is planning an all-out assault on AMD's 3D V-cache tech, with huge amounts of cache potentially available.

I absolutely love Monster Hunter Wilds, which makes it all the more painful to see it run into so many problems. The latest entry in the Capcom series has been plagued with performance issues on PC since it launched, and that combined with a relatively light endgame has left players dissatisfied. New Monster Hunter Wilds update 1.021 was supposed to be the first big step towards fixing these concerns, moving several upgrades forward in an attempt to keep people busy until Title Update 3, but it's already run into a serious crash problem.

I don't think anybody expected a new permanent mode to be added to Apex Legends with Season 26. I'm not sure anybody expected the vibe-killer that is daytime E-District either, but developer Respawn surprised us on both accounts. Wildcard is here, and has changed the game. It stays true to the fundamentals of Apex's battle royale DNA, but reduces the map size, the number of players, and allows you to continuously respawn so long as one of your teammates is alive. It's a big change for the shooter, so two developers took part in an 'Ask Me Anything' on Reddit to field fans' questions and shed some light on the mode.

A new Stalker 2 roadmap lays out plenty of changes coming to GSC Game World's apocalyptic FPS this year, including an engine change that should help to solve some of its bigger performance and stability woes. The open-world series made its long-awaited return in 2024, landing to a strong critical and public reception, but its impressive simulation has been marred by bugs and glitches. The team has a lot of upgrades on the table for the remainder of 2025, however, ranging from new tools, missions, and anomalies to some very welcome quality-of-life tweaks and a new master difficulty.

With a ridiculously low price of just $599.99, this gaming laptop deal at Walmart is outrageously cheap for a machine with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 gaming GPU. Not only that, but this MSI Thin machine also covers all the other essentials, coming with a full 16GB of RAM and an Intel Core i5 CPU - you even get a 144Hz 1080p screen with it.

These components are in line with some of the machines on our best gaming laptop buying guide, and will provide a solid foundation for playing the latest games. In particular, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU in this MSI laptop is a big step up from the integrated GPUs you often find in sub-$600 machines. It's based on Nvidia's latest architecture, called Ada Lovelace, and it also supports frame gen via Nvidia DLSS 3, meaning it can use its AI cores to insert extra frames to smooth out your frame rate.

What does the Peak balloon do? There are many ways to meet an untimely end in Peak, from the lava pits to the poisonous plants; danger lurks around every corner as you make your way to the summit. The most common run-ending disaster is perhaps the most simple, though, and that's falling. Well, rather, it's what happens at the end of a fall.

There have been plenty of updates for Peak as it continues its meteoric rise to the top of all things co-op climbing whimsy. The latest update added a desert biome with pit monsters, intense sunshine, and something called the Scout Cannon. It also saw a Balloon added into the mix, which is a bit of a head-scratcher for all involved. Here's how it works.

My favorite thing about Elden Ring is the sheer imagination on display. Sure, you have oversized knights and weeping dragons that could find a home in any fantasy universe, but you've also got Fire Giants and a dude who uses a severed dragon head as a weapon. And that's before you've left the first area. Elden Ring: Nightreign takes this a step further, adding in classic enemies from FromSoftware's back catalog as well as creating new beasts for you to take down. The next creature awaiting your pointiest stick is the Everdark Sovereign Equilibrious Beast, a goat-headed monstrosity plucked straight from the depths of Hell.

If you're one of the many enjoyers of football games on PC, then the Madden 26 system requirements will be of particular interest. It's another EA Sports game that comes with a relatively low barrier to entry, to the point where the requirements haven't changed since last year's game. That being said, you'll still need relatively powerful hardware if you want to play at 4K with a fast frame rate.

As much as I love playing sports games on PC, it's often the case that the PC versions of these games tend to be stripped back compared to their console counterparts. This trend has changed somewhat, and now games like Madden 26 don't look or play a whole lot different, with cross-play being the biggest barrier that was recently knocked down. If you've already jumped into Madden 26 but are struggling to get great performance, you can check out our guide to the best Madden 26 settings on PC to skip the awkward trial-and-error process.

With The Witcher 4 not set to arrive until at least 2027, I've been looking forward to Crimson Desert. The new open-world game from developer Pearl Abyss has impressed us in multiple early playtests, and brings a uniquely vicious and impactful brand of combat to the table in a world worthy of standing alongside CD Projekt Red's titan. Unfortunately, it appears that we'll now be waiting a little longer to enjoy it, as the action-heavy RPG has been delayed into early 2026.

Madden 26 hasn't had a major graphical overhaul compared to previous versions of the veteran football game, so getting good performance isn't too difficult. Finding the best Madden 26 settings is still important though, to ensure you're getting the best balance of image quality and performance. It's especially key to take note of the detailed settings menu, which puts other EA Sports titles like FC 25 to shame.

You can check out the Madden 26 system requirements to ensure your gaming PC or laptop is up to the challenge of running Madden 26 before you commit to a purchase. You'll find that you won't need the most expensive options on our best graphics card guide to simply run the game, although inevitably if you're aiming for a high frame rate at a 4K resolution you'll need some powerful hardware.

When is the Crimson Desert release date? First announced in 2019, Crimson Desert is a story-driven adventure from the team behind the Black Desert MMORPG. Four years since its initial reveal, there's still a significant wait ahead for the Crimson Desert release date following an indefinite delay in July 2021. The devs cited the "need to dedicate more time to added new ideas for an even deeper, more enriching game."

We now know that the enrichment process includes petting dogs, carrying sheep on your shoulders, and fighting giant crabs in the magical action-adventure game. I mean, what more could you ask for? Based on the gameplay footage of Crimson Desert so far, it does seem as though nature and animals play a massive part in the world of Pywel. The region looks at first glance like an ancient medieval continent, but it soon becomes apparent that it's filled with magic and mystery. Here's everything we know about Pywel and the Crimson Desert release date window so far.

The base Titan Quest 2 system requirements are incredibly high compared to other ARPGs, putting Diablo 4, Last Epoch, and Path of Exile 2 all to shame. Sadly, this means you're going to need a somewhat powerful rig to even get this game running, never mind getting it to run with a high frame rate at high resolutions.

Just looking at what you'll need to run Titan Quest 2 as recommended by the developer, you're going to need one of, if not the best gaming PC from our buying guides. The game's incredibly high specs will likely prove prohibitive to your average gaming rig, especially those that are in need of an upgrade, and could well hamper the game's efforts to rank among the best games like Diablo, and the best ARPGs.

Don't be fooled by Peak's simple premise; surmounting each mountain is a real challenge, especially if you have friends trying to "help" you along. Luckily, the Peak system requirements are so low that your average gaming PC or laptop should have no issues getting the game to run, even at its best.

Peak could be one of the best co-op PC games of all time on account of its simple yet difficult to master mechanics that will see you to the top of each rotating map or plummeting to your death, screaming in rage. From my experience, friends are what make the game shine in the same vein that Repo and Lethal Company shine. You won't need the best gaming PC from our buying guide to get the game running, either, but you may need almost as much patience as you'd need to overcome Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy.

Subnautica 2 publishers Krafton have issued their response to the lawsuit filed against them by the game's former lead developers. If you're wondering whether things have cooled off a bit between the two parties now we're in Saul Goodmanville, think again, because the second paragraph of the response sees Krafton accuse the leads of having "resorted to litigation to demand a payday they haven't earned."

It's an almost impossible task at this point to sum up the Subnautica 2 saga in less than a War and Peace length novel, but here's my attempt to give you the abbreviated version. Krafton delay the game from a 2025 early access release to 2026 and fire three leads on it: Charlie Cleveland, Max McGuire, and Ted Gill. The company accuse those leads of abandoning their duties and argue the game wasn't ready for early access. The leads disagree and file a lawsuit. A big part of what makes the disagreement so noteworthy is a $250 million bonus to be paid to Unknown Worlds staff if the game hit certain targets by the end of 2025, which Krafton have now said they'll still pay out a fraction of. pokemon world 2025 key art

The Pokémon World Championship is quickly approaching us in Anaheim from Aug 15 to 17, and codes and items are already being revealed to get trainers a bunch of free goodies to celebrate everything going on.

One of the current items available is a free avatar T-shirt for using the code Z3USC2JQS9LWN in Pokémon Go. The shirt is pretty pain to be honest, but has the Pokémon Worlds 2025 key art for those who want to dress up in-game to celebrate.

Unfortunately, this code doesn't give you the much nicer gold shirt, which is only obtainable for event goers who complete a Pokémon Go in-person scavenger hunt at the venue in Anaheim. However, it's still a fabulous free gift for anyone who wants it.

pokemon world championship shirt
Image via Scopely

To redeem the shirt, you need to head to the official Pokémon GO Code redemption website. You can access it here, but make sure you sign into your active Pokémon Go account to get the item before it expires. The same site is used for redeeming any codes, so if you are an active player, maybe save the link for future giveaways.

It's not the only big Pokémon Go giveaway happening this week, either. For those who watch the official Twitch stream from Friday onwards for 30 minutes each day, you can unlock exclusive special research and tasks based around the World Championships to get items, exclusive Pokémon drops, and more.

For example, those tuning into the Day 1 stream will get exclusive time research that honours the 2024. Pokémon Go Masters Division World Champion and will give you 1 of their key Pokémon as well as an Elite Charged TM.

Day 2 will then give you exclusive timed research focused on making Battle Ready teams with the rewards, including Pokémon encounters that will make an excellent team for the Battle League, with multiple options available. All of these Pokémon can also be shiny if you are lucky.

Also, don't forget to be on the lookout for the exclusive Pikachu wearing a varsity jacket that will only be available during the Pokémon Championships this weekend. This Pokémon can also be shiny, and there are increased chances of finding shiny Pokémon at the World Championships, including exclusive spawns if you're lucky enough to be in the area.

Updated on August 13, 2025: Added all new units and heavily re-ranked the tier list according to the new meta. Also added best traits for all units.

The best units in Anime Final Strike depend on which role you're looking to fill. You need to have ground, hill, and air DPSs as well as supporting and farm units. That's why I'll structure this tier list according to those three categories as well as showing you the best starter units. Here's my Anime Final Strike tier list and guide.

Anime Final Strike Unit Tier List

anime final strike tier list

Here are the best units in Anime Final Strike for progression and Raids/Infinite including base versions and Evolutions. Note that units are also ranked within their categories left to right. You'll also find more info, tips and explanations for best units below. I won't talk much about Yuneko+Evo and Namu since they're the only farm units and you should always include one in any team. Also note that I'm assuming you're rolling the best stats you can with Perfect Stat Engrams. I'll show you how to farm them along with Gems and Traits below the tier list.

DPS Highlights

This list includes the best DPS units in Anime Final Strike that you should always go for. Vejita, Roku, Arrow and Ichiru Masked are great beginner options to go for since they're great starters and later have amazing Evolutions for end-game. Also, keep in mind the Hybrid & Air DPS units which are:

  • Akoza & Evolution starting at Upgrade 5
  • Vejita & Evolution
  • Sasoke & Evolution
  • Naroto & Evolution starting at Upgrade 3
  • Vesh Evolution
  • Vasto Lorde
  • Enorai
  • Sogo King
  • Naroto's 2nd Evo
  • Fire Hashira
  • Minato at Upgrade 6
  • Kaziru
  • Roku Black
  • Roku

Unit Notes & Best Trait

Vasto Lorde
Secret
• The best Dark Elemental damage in the game and overall one of the best DPS units
• Unlike Vesh who is a Secret base and Evolution you can get Vasto Lorde from the Ichiru Mythic
• The best unit in the game to get the Emperor Trait on for a single powerful placement.
• Massive AOE damage

Best Trait: Emperor

Vesh
Secret
• Best Light damage in the game and the second most powerful DPS overall due to flexibility
• Can be both Physical and Magical
• Also great with Emperor or The One trait
• Either Vesh or Vasto Lorde are a must-have for Raids/Infinite

Best Trait: Emperor or The One

Benomaru & Evo
Secret
• While the base Secret is good the Crimson Commander Evo is currently a Meta DPS and one of the best damage units in Anime Final Strike
• Emperor is a must-have but Frenzy is also good if you're already using Emperor on Vasto Lorde or Vesh

Best Trait: Emperor or Frenzy

Super Roku Evo
Mythic
• The base Roku is already a great starter but Super Roku EVO is in my personal opinion a meta DPS up there in the ranks of Secrets
• If you don't have secrets yet then just slap Emperor on this one and it'll carry you in all modes

Best Trait: Emperor or Frenzy

Black Roku Evo
Mythic
• Both the base Legendary Black Roku and the Black Roku Rose evo are great units for two different things
• The base Black Roku is an amazing starter unit
• The Rose Evo version is in my opinion a meta DPS similar to Super Roku Evo
• I wouldn't necessarily use Emperor as a trait here since there are better options but The One is pretty good

Best Trait: The One or Frenzy

Vejita & His Evolutions
Mythic
• The best Burst/Nova damage Mythic
• The base version of Vejita is great for beginners and overall a strong starter
• Then the Evolutions also carry you into the late game and Raids/Infinite
• Vejita Magin is stronger than Vejita Super Ascended but takes grinding
• Hybrid/Air DPS

Best Trait: The One

Arrow & Evo
Mythic
• Arrow is my favorite Fire Force Mythic due to how great of a starter the base version is
• Also, it can deal some great damage so overall the Fire Force Mythics are all really good

Best Trait: Berserk

Arthor & Shinra
Mythics
• While lower on the S-Tier line both Arthor and Shinra are excellent sustained DPS units for all modes
• I prefer Arrow due to the starter potential but once you Evo these they can do some great damage-per-second

Best Trait: Both work really well with Frenzy

Minato Evolution
Mythic
• You can get the base Minato via Tailed Beast Capsules from the Event and then evolve him with Kunais into the Yellow Flash
• He's an incredible sustained DPS unit and one of the best Mythic ones
• Meta DPS unit and in my opinion one of the must-haves for Raids and Infinite farming

Best Trait: The One

Fire Hashira Evolution
Mythic
• An alternative to Vejita in terms of Burst/Nova damage
• One of the best Fire DPS units

Best Trait: The One

Sasoke Hebi Evolution
Mythic
• Hybrid/Air DPS
• Great secondary DPS options to the ones above
• Can compete sustained DPS wise with Secrets and most Mythics
• Better than Naroto Sage but not Naroto Sage Master

Best Trait: Frenzy

Naroto Evolutions
Mythic
• For the Sage Evolution, same as Sasoke but becomes Hybrid/Air at the third upgrade and is a bit weaker overall
• That said the new Sage Master Evolution is a Meta DPS and you should absolutely go for it as it out DPSs most Mythics including Sasoke Hebi
• You can evolve it into Sage Master by farming and getting the Master Sage Scroll from the Tailed Beast Event shop

Best Trait: Frenzy

13th Commander
GamePass Mythic
• Really underrated mythic with great DPS
• The best part is that you can get it by just progressing the GamePass
• A powerful option for Emperor if you don't have Super Roku Evo or Secrets

Best Trait: Emperor or The One

Akoza Evolution
Mythic
• One of the better sustained DPS Mythics
• Great with Frenzy or Berserk and not the best target for The One or Emperor
• Your go-to Earth DPS
• Hybrid/Air DPS

Best Trait: Frenzy

Kabuto King
Mythic
• The base version sucks but the Evolution Kabuto King is actually pretty good sustained DPS with long range

Best Trait: Frenzy or Talon

Yano Evolution
Mythic from Game Pass
• Easy to get since Yano is at the end of the gamepass and while the base version is okay the evolution is much stronger and actually competitive when compared to other Mythics

Best Trait: Frenzy

Kamado (Sun)
Mythic - Epic Banner Unit
• Get him on the Epic Banner because the Evolution is amazing DPS
• Komado Sun is in the upper tiers of the Mythics but can't be compared to Secrets

Best Trait: Berserk

Support Highlights

The best support unit to go for early is Ulquiora because he is one of the best Hybrid units in the game. Then, take a look at some great options below for mid to late game. Here are all Hybrid & Air units in the Support category:

  • Ulquiorra at Upgrade 5 Unevo & Upgrade 9 for Evo
  • Ice Admiral & Evolution starting at Upgrade 4

Unit Notes

Tobito & Evolution
Mythic
• You can get the base Tobito via Tailed Beast Event Act 2 from the Event shop and then evolve him with Tobito's Mask
• Currently he's one of the best support units in the game
• For Raids and Infinite I prefer him over Ulquiorra slightly and he's a much better support than Ice Admiral and Dark Beard

Best Trait: The One or Talon

Jokar & Evolution
Mythic
• Another great support DPS option to add to a team
• Works great with Frenzy due to the cooldown reduction that makes Jokar's ability better

Best Trait: Frenzy

Ulquiorra & Evolution
Mythic
• Overall one of the most useful units in the game both for supports and DPS
• Easy to access Hybrid
• Best Nature unit in the game
• In my opinion a must-have for Raids/Infinite

Best Trait: Frenzy

Haumia (Mindbreaker)
Mythic
• One of the better crowd-control support Mythics
• I love it for Infinite
• The Frenzy cooldown reduction makes it really good

Best Trait: Frenzy

Ice Admiral & Evolution
Mythic
• One of the better support units in the game
• Both the Evolution and the base version are useful
• Your go-to Water unit
• Hybrid/Air at Upgrade 4

Best Trait: Frenzy

Dark Beard
Legendary
• A budget alternative support that slows enemy units at Upgrade 3

Best Trait: Sharp Shooter

Oreheme
Legendary
• Another budget alternative support that buffs your units.
• Better than Dark Beard and Ice Admiral in my opinion due to the powerful buffs on your meta DPS units.

Best Trait: Sharp Shooter

Starter Highlights

These are some of the best starting units in Anime Final Strike. They offer cheap placements and good damage that will carry your early waves until you can farm up for the Meta units above. These work both for progression but mainly for Raids/Infinite.

Unit Notes

Best Starters
• Great starters for Progression and Raid/Infinite
• Note that Black Roku, Kaziru and Vejita can target Air
• Vejita Super is the best one

Best Gem and Trait Farm Methods in Anime Final Strike

Here's how to farm Gems, Traits and Perfect Stat Engrams in Anime Final Strike:

  • Perfect Stat Engrams: Farm via the Gold shop, Free Daily Wheel Spins, rewards for progressing and of course codes which are linked below.
  • Best Gems Farm: I recommend farming Event on Act 1 since I get 30-60k+ Gems overnight. The range depends on how good your team is and how many of the best DPS & Support units you have.
  • Best Trait Farm: Raids (50), Tailed Beast Event (25), Dailies (9-11), Challenge every half an hour, Infinite to 15 and restart.

That's it for my Anime Final Strike tier list and guide. The best way to get started on getting the strongest units is by claiming our Anime Final Strike codes for free spins and more goodies.

Banjo Kazooie Super Smash Bros

I awoke this morning to check social media like I usually do for the Morning News run, expecting nothing much apart from a few sprinklings of details for the upcoming Pokémon World Championships. Instead, though, I was greeted with a massive amount of retro social media users discussing an apparent Banjo-Kazooie rumor that is circulating online.

I can understand it, as the Banjo-Kazooie community has been craving some type of good news for many years now ever since the aforementioned Nuts and Bolts came out to general distaste but looking further into it it appears that these rumours are circulating from a singular source that claims to know something is going on but doesn't quite tell us what it is

https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/1molbew/mitchtwitrkd_is_teasing_something_banjokazooie/

So, while I was inclined to ignore these details, I felt I should give a more general PSA on the goings-on in case someone like me wakes up to these rumors and is wondering what the heck is going on. In summary, there is a rumour going online right now that something Banjo-Kazooie related is set to be announced, but we don't exactly know what it i,s with the primary source of the rumour stating that it's not a new game or a new partnership or a fan game but it appears to be a port of the original game to other systems like PC.

It's hard to take these rumors as factual, given that the source is a single one, but the community has since come together to agree that the most likely announcement of anything would be a PC port of the original two games or at least the first game.

I don't buy it, though, and I don't think you should eithe,r and my main reason for making this article is so that if someone searches about the circulated rumours this morning that I saw on social media, someone can hopefully find this and get more information then fall into the hype trap that a lot of fans seem to be doing.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a new game in the series or at least something to revive the bear and bird for modern audiences, mainly because we are seeing a lot of creative studios do something cool with platformers and collectathons again. But in this instance, I'll say what I always say.

I'll believe it when I see it.

PEAK Mesa biome

PEAK's Mesa update has added plenty of new items to the game, and Aloe Vera is one of the most important items to find to survive the new biome.

One of the harshest aspects of the new biome is the element of heat, especially during the day. If you're not careful enough, the heat can make you faint and jeopardize your chances of going past this level and continuing your ascent to the top.

That's where the Aloe Vera item can be of great use when you are trying to keep your body temperature down to save yourself in the Mesa biome.

How does Aloe Vera work in PEAK?

There are certain items like the Sunscreen that works as a preventive measure. It stops your body temperature from going up when you're exploring the Mesa biome. However, the temperatures will rise, and you might not have enough Sunscreen to begin with. The Aloe Vera allows you to to bring down your body temperature if it has risen to dangerous levels.

The item is also directly related to completing the Cool Cucumber badge. This badge requires you to pass Mesa while maintaining your Heat below 10%. If your Heat is at the border, you can quickly consume Aloe Vera to reduce the temperature before taking shelter.

How to find Aloe Vera in PEAK?

Unlike most of the new items added to PEAK, Aloe Vera is found in the open. I have never seen them in the luggage lying around on the island. You'll typically find them near cactuses in the Mesa biome. They might not always spawn beside a cactus, but they're pretty common in my experience.

That's pretty much all you need to know about Aloe Vera in PEAK. Make sure to collect as much as possible as they're relatively light, and can be extremely useful in hazardous situations.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is getting one of the Nintendo GameCube's most beloved games next week—and you probably have never heard of it.

On Aug. 21, those who have the Nintendo Switch expansion pass and own a Nintendo Switch 2 system will gain access to Chibi-Robo, one of GameCube's rarest games and one of Nintendo's more niche properties. The game is a pure delight for those who played it and is getting its first big re-release since, well, the Gamecube!

The game was made for the Nintendo Wii as part of the Gamecube Classic options, but was only ever released in Japan and never made it to the West. Chibi-Robo might only be remembered in the US and other Western countries for its Zipline Dash release on Nintendo 3DS. And we all know how that game turned out...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjP6uQflzMU&ab_channel=NintendoofAmerica

The game was so undersold in the west that trying to snag a Gamecube version of it can set you back now several hundred dollars, and was the only way to play the game in most regions until this sudden digital re-release. Maybe people will finally be able to enjoy and appreciate this title as much as I do? I ask everyone to give it a shot, it's full of whimsy and fun, and was one of my favorite games of that generation.

In the game, you take on the role of a small robot that has to clean up a home. Although that might sound boring at first as you begin to explore and meet the various fun and wild characters and start to learn the secrets of the family's history and begin even to encounter aliens, you'll soon figure out that you're in for a wild ride.

I don't want to spoil much more of the story or the secrets within, but I'd would prefer for you all to experience this for yourself. But do try this game, I really, really enjoy it.

To play Chibi-Robo on Switch 2, you'll need to be part of the expansion pass version of the Switch Online service. The game is not available on the original Nintendo Switch, so you'll need a Nintendo Switch 2. to play it just like every other Gamecube game on the Nintendo Classics library.

The game launches worldwide on August 21st, 2025.
