I can't imagine life without music. Whacking on my eclectic mix of playlists is a more important part of my morning routine than coffee, and I'm 99% powered by the sacred liquid. Imagine waking up one day and finding that two-stepping in a mosh pit is now illegal? Sends a shiver up my spine, that. Well, that's exactly how things are in anime-style rhythm game Unbeatable, and after seven years in development, it finally got a release date at Gamescom Opening Night Live.

The Asus Xbox Ally X release date has just been confirmed, and we only have to wait until October. Both this handheld and the lower-spec Xbox Ally are currently out on the show floor at Gamescom, giving players a chance to try out the first Xbox-backed portable. While we finally have a release date, however, we still do not know how much these handhelds will cost.

We've been following the Xbox Ally X and its non-X counterpart closely since they were revealed during the Xbox Summer Showcase, and we recently had the chance to use one in our Hollow Knight Silksong preview. The latest AMD Ryzen Z2 chips will power the handhelds, so they have plenty of horsepower at their disposal. Whether or not either of these Asus devices can challenge the best gaming handheld picks in our buying guide remains to be seen, but price will be a big factor.

Samsung has just unveiled a new PCIe 5.0 gaming SSD with a colossal 8TB capacity. The new Samsung 9100 Pro 8TB follows on from the 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB models launched earlier in 2025, with the manufacturer claiming the new 8TB drive can read at similarly fast speeds. More importantly, that 8TB of storage space gives you a mammoth-sized capacity that enables you to install loads of the latest games – assuming it formats to 7.26TB, you could even install 48 copies of Baldur's Gate 3.

With its blazing-fast performance, the 2TB and 4TB versions of this drive excelled in our Samsung 9100 Pro review, and it quickly jumped onto our guide to the best gaming SSD. While this drive has since been surpassed by the even quicker new WD Black SN8100, the introduction of this new 8TB model gives Samsung a competitive edge when it comes to capacity.

The Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 system requirements are pleasantly surprising, and will do very little to push most modern mid-range and high-end gaming PCs or laptops. However, we're still hoping for more detailed specs that cater to high-performance targets in the lead-up to release.

With the Bloodlines 2 release date confirmed at Gamescom, we can now officially get hyped. Our news editor, Lauren, also recently had the chance to play the game and wrote about it in her Bloodlines 2 preview. On the specs front, you won't need the best graphics card from our buying guide to play Bloodlines 2, but we're still yet to receive any performance targets from the developer, which is a key detail we hope to have soon.

Let's put the conspiracies to bed once and for all: Hollow Knight: Silksong is real. At least, a 15-minute demo of it is. I just went hands on with Steam's most wishlisted game while testing out the new Xbox Ally X at Gamescom, and the long-awaited Metroidvania doesn't disappoint. Does it do anything unexpected or widly different from its beloved predecessor? Not from what I saw. But does it deliver top-tier platforming, engaging exploration, a mysterious world, and tricky boss fights? Oh yes.

As with every new season of every new live-service game, Apex Legends has seen myriad changes in Season 26. There's no new character or weapon, but developer Respawn has mixed things up in other ways. The E-District map can be seen in the daytime for the first time, the RE-45 has gone from a useless sidearm, left discarded as soon as you find a decent SMG, to one of the best weapons in the game. But it's Respawn's changes to ranked mode that have made the most impact on my matches and, thankfully, it's patched some of those changes in response to player feedback.

What are candy plants in Grow a Garden? If it sounds like Jack is asking for an impossible mulch for the Beanstalk in the middle of the map, that's because he is. Without a Roblox event or two under your belt, you'll struggle to satisfy his hour-long request if he's after crops that can also fall into multiple other categories.

Before you search your Grow a Garden inventory for seeds that might sprout into Candy plants, read up on the Grow a Garden pets tier list and Grow a Garden seeds tier list. We also have the lists of all GaG prickly plants, GaG tropical plants, and GaG stalky plants.

If you're serious about reaping the many rewards available in this Roblox Grow a Garden event, take a look at how to maximize your gains with our Grow a Garden Beanstalk event guide. August 20, 2025: We verified our NBA 2K25 codes list.

What are the active NBA 2K25 codes? It's another year in the NBA 2K calendar, and as is tradition, there are plenty of freebies to collect. Over the lifetime of each game in the storied basketball series, 2K dishes out a slew of locker codes that can be punched in, rewarding you with everything from free packs to top-rated stars as the season progresses.

In NBA 2K25, you can expect a similar slurry of goodies to come your way, helping you make the most of your time in the sports game. Of course, NBA 2K25 locker codes don't last forever, so you'll have to act fast when a new code does pop up. With over a hundred plants available in the game, creating an efficient garden around the berry plants beanstalk request can be a struggle.

Wondering if the Roblox Grow a Garden beanstalk event is even worth attempting to complete? Check out our Grow a Garden seeds tier list to see if the rewards are any good. I have a conflicted history with Resident Evil. I love the first game and, like many people, I consider Resident Evil 2 one of the best in the series. Unlike most, I adore 3 and Zero - I'd even love for a Zero remake to be next - and I have a strong dislike for 4. Sorry, Leon. Resident Evil 4 signalled a significant change in the series, a pivot from horror to action. RPD was no more, and, with the location change, so too went the zombies, Umbrella, the T-virus, and all the things that drew me to the games in the first place.

The resort location transforms the realistic Sims rival into an experience free of traditional life sims, creating something more akin to Stardew Valley where you'll farm, mine gemstones, fish, and snorkel. I've always wondered why more games don't ape the aesthetic of Minecraft and its similarly blocky cousin, Roblox. The hugely popular games require talented artists, but not the time and precision of hyper-realistic character models that triple-A titles strive for. On the indie scene, where pixel art and cel-shading reign supreme, why not try something different? That's exactly what Everwind is doing, mixing Minecraft's art direction and crafting mechanics with a Skyrim-style fantasy open world, where you can shoot fireballs, slash golems, and live out your stealth archer dreams.

I'll be real with you, I love a good gacha game. Maybe it's the gameplay, maybe it's my dopamine-deprived brain clamoring for a morsel of the good stuff one pull at a time. Whether it's delving into HoYo's expansive library, flying around Renascita in Wuthering Waves, or impatiently waiting for Bokuto's banner to arrive in Haikyu Fly High, I'm never far from one. When Where Winds Meet was announced, I knew I was in trouble. It's very much a new-age Chinese RPG in the same vein as WuWa, with Wuxia flair to boot. Even though parts of it felt quite busy in the playtest, the overall package has the substance to match the big hitters. Not long before the great Geoff-fest kicked off yesterday, Civ 7's latest update arrived. Dubbed 1.2.4, it's delivered the likes of world wonder rebalancing, but has also impacted mods more heavily than your average Civ update. Firaxis have since explained why the latter was the case, as there was a method to the mod breakage.

Updates to the polarising 4X strategy sim have settled into a nice monthly cadence following the barrage of changes that followed its launch, when the likes of the user interface had folks ordering improvements like they'd just run across a farmless tile. I loaded up a recent Pragmata demo in blissful ignorance – or, at the very least, regular ignorance – of the depth of feeling surrounding its central hacking system. The need to shut down robotic baddies' defences before giving them the ol' semi-auto handshake is, it seems, widely enough perceived as a potential dealbreaker that Capcom have recreated it as a browser game. As if to whisper a reassuring "No, look, it's not that fiddly," into sceptical ears ahead of release next year.

I get it. Described in the abstract, it does sound like you can have a little third-person shooting, as a treat, but only after you finish your tile-colouring minigame. After actually playing Pragmata, though, I'm firmly on Team Hacking: besides being rich with upgrade potential, it doesn't interrupt the action so much as conduct it, specifically to a tempo that feels refreshingly unique by over-the-shoulder standards.

Gilmore and creative director Hogarth de la Plante reportedly moved into different jobs as part of a resulting leadership shakeup. Triangle Strategy Makes Its Xbox Debut

Square Enix decided its gamescom 2025 shadowdrop would be another port of the strategy game Triangle Strategy, as it is now on the Xbox Series X. It is on sale on the Microsoft Store to celebrate the launch until September 3, 2025. This means the price is temporarily $41.99 instead of $59.99.

Triangle Strategy is the story of a continent once again on the verge of war as the result of the political greed of Aesfrost. We follow Serenoa, who will be the next head of House Wolffort and is allied with Glenbrook, as he makes important decisions that shape the direction of the campaign and fate of countries. Things aren't as simple as they may seem, and a number of turn-based battles on grids with allies appear as we head out on the journey.

This game turned three years old this year. It started out as a Switch exclusive in March 2022, before being ported to PCs later that year. After that, a VR version of the game showed up on Meta Quest headsets in October 2024. This Xbox Series X Triangle Strategy release means it is almost everywhere now. Only PS4 and/or PS5 releases are left.

Triangle Strategy is available on the Xbox Series X as of August 20, 2025, and it can also be found on the Switch, PC, and Meta Quest headsets.

Interview: Preparing the Blue Archive PC Release

It's been a productive time for Blue Archive, with Nexon and Yostar celebrating the game's fourth anniversary back in February 2025, releasing a PC version on Steam back in July 2025, kicking off a Pandemic Hazard: Miraculous Pancake event at the start of August 2025, Siliconera was able to send some questions to Executive Producer Yongha Kim & Studio Producer Gyeong Seop An about the new port and the game as a whole.

Jenni Lada: The PC version of Blue Archive arrived about four years after the mobile launch. What led to the decision to add a new platform?

Yongha Kim and Gyeong Seop An: We began planning the PC build release last year. While many players were already enjoying the game on PC through emulators and other workarounds, those methods had clear limitations, so we felt it was necessary to offer an official PC version. Since the game was originally developed on PC, running it wasn't an issue. Instead, the main challenges were related to platform integration and payment systems, and we focused a lot of effort on resolving those.

The Steam launch brought many new Senseis to the game. Expanding to additional platforms was a strategic choice to reach more players, and thankfully, it has proven successful."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7iDMYf1wLg

Did you face any unexpected challenges when preparing the PC client for Blue Archive

Kim and Seop An: Since both the mobile and Steam versions share the same database, account link itself wasn't an extremely complex technical challenge. However, there were some unexpected issues during the linkage process, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused. Our team is working hard to resolve it as quickly as possible.

We also paid close attention to the PC experience. Playing on computer is fundamentally different from mobile, so we added support for features like customizable keybinds and resolution settings to ensure it feels natural for computer users as well."

What has the response to the Blue Archive PC launch been like so far? About how many people picked it up on Steam?

Kim and Seop An: We're truly happy to see so many Senseis respond positively. Watching new players continue to join reassures us that this was the right decision. While there were some delays along the way, we believe that ongoing communication with our publisher and platform partners played a key role in resolving those challenges and making the launch a success.

There haven't been too many crossover characters in Blue Archive, aside from folks like Hatsune Miku and A Certain Scientific Railgun units like Misaka Mikoto. Could we see more events in the future, and are there any specific objectives you're keeping in mind when considering collaborations?

Kim and Gyeong Seop An: While nothing is decided yet, we believe there is potential for various collaborations in the mid to long term. When it comes to collaborating with other IPs, our top priority is how well we can create synergy by combining the strengths of both sides.

We've seen gacha games such as Genshin Impact and Bleach: Brave Souls show up on consoles. How would you feel about that with Blue Archive now that the mobile and PC clients are done?

Kim and Seop An: For now, our main focus is to ensure that players have a smooth and enjoyable experience on Steam. Once that's fully in place, we'll be able to explore other possibilities. On a personal note, it's something we'd definitely be interested in trying in the future.

Lots of Blue Archive figures and merchandise showed up since launch, with some of the more recent reveals being a Kaiyodo Revoltech Moe one. What does the process look like for picking which characters get that sort of treatment and how do fan responses to banners affect them?

Kim and Seop An: The production of figures is handled through careful consultation with the manufacturers. Both sides work diligently to ensure that no single character is overly focused on, aiming to bring a diverse range of characters to life in the real world. We hope you see this as the thoughtful result of our joint efforts.

There have been a few Blue Archive anime adaptations so far. How would you feel about an additional season or movie?

Kim and Gyeong Seop An: We ask for your understanding that we are currently unable to share specific plans regarding a second season of the animation. There are also no finalized decisions on additional content utilizing the IP at this time.

However, we are considering a variety of content such as merchandise and events to offer players more ways to enjoy Blue Archive, so please look forward to what's coming.

Blue Archive is available on the PC via Steam and on mobile devices.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Inside Out realm door

With every new Disney Dreamlight Valley update comes new characters, realms, and limited-time Star Path events. This time, we have Joy and Sadness to unlock through the Inside Out realm's storyline. Our first step is finding and opening the realm before meeting these characters.

Inside Out realm location in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You'll find the Inside Out realm door inside Dream Castle. You'll need to climb to the castle's top floor to find its entrance next to the Alice in Wonderland realm's door. It costs 15,000 Dreamlight to unlock the door, begin the Inside Out realm's questline, and meet both Joy and Sadness.

The Inside Out realm's door has a silhouette of Riley, the movie's protagonist, on its front to help you differentiate it from other realms. However, night thorns will initially block access to it, requiring you to give Merlin some Dreamlight so he can unlock it for you.

How to get more Dreamlight in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Before you can unlock Disney Dreamlight Valley's realms, you'll need to collect Dreamlight by completing various village tasks. You can find these tasks through your Dreamlight Duties menu. They range from feeding and petting companions to cooking, mining, and placing decorations around your village.

The game divides these objectives into multiple categories, from regular duties that you can complete in a couple of minutes to longer tasks you'll gradually accomplish throughout your playthrough. Most give you between 100 and 250 Dreamlight, depending on their complexity. It'll take time to stockpile enough to unlock the Inside Out realm, especially if you're in the early game still, but you'll get there with a bit of dedication.

This page is receiving live updates as we learn more about the Inside Out realm's quests and characters. Stay tuned for more details.

A character with pink braids and a pink strawberry dress holding a green shovel in disney dreamlight valley

Star Path events give you all kinds of tricky tasks to get done in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One of the tougher ones you'll come across in the Retro Roadtrip event asks you to dig for pottery material.

Since you're only given a fairly vague clue to work off of, figuring out what needs to be done for this task is quite tricky, especially since there are many different resources you can find and acquire around the valley. If this quest has you stumped, here's how to dig for pottery material in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Pottery material in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The pottery material you need to find for the Retro Roadtrip Star Path event is Clay. There are many unique resources you can recover from around the valley, and although there might be others you think could be used for pottery, only this one counts for the Star Path task.

Dig for pottery material in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To finish the dig for pottery material duty, you need to equip your Royal Shovel and dig up a total of 20 Clay. It's not a super common resource, but as long as you're looking around the right areas, you should have no trouble finding it, although it might take you a bit to dig up the 20 required for this mission.

How to get Clay in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There are three ways you can squire Clay around the village, although only two of them directly count for this quest. All of the methods you can use to find Clay in the valley are as follows.

  • Digging with your Royal Shovel. It can drop while digging at any point in the Glade of Trust, the Sunlit Plateau, and the Forgotten Lands biomes. You might find other resources instead, though, so how easy or difficult it is to find this material comes down to luck with this method.
  • Removing bones. Both small and large bones pop up around the Sunlit Plateau biome, and breaking any of them with your Royal Pickaxe grants Clay. They don't drop any other material, so it's usually fairly easy to obtain Clay using this method.
  • Purchasing some from Kristoff's Stall. His stock rotates daily, but he does sometimes have Clay for sale. When it's available, you can buy up to 20 per day, and it costs 20 Star Coins for each one. Since you're not digging in this method, it doesn't count for the Star Path, so you'll need to choose one of the other two ways instead.

While digging for this resource, have a villager who specializes in digging at your side so you have a chance of finding extra Clay. Any bonus Clay found by your villager friend won't count for this task, but since you're already working on it, you may as well have a friend helping you out to obtain extra Clay for other projects.

There are plenty of other tricky tasks you need to get done in the Retro Roadtrip Star Path event after finishing this one. Next, you might work on mining for square Gems, practicing mine-fulness, feeding Sunbirds their favourite food, and mining for oval Gems.

A character dressed as joy with blue hair and a green dress riding in a red wagon by an inside out ride in disney dreamlight valley

There are over 400 recipes you can cook up in Disney Dreamlight Valley, so it's often quite difficult to determine the correct ingredients for specific meals. One of the many dishes you need to learn to make is Joyful Meal.

This dish is inspired by Inside Out, but surprisingly doesn't use any complex or unique ingredients. You only need a couple of basic resources to cook it up, so here's how to make the Joyful Meal in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Joyful Meal recipe in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The Joyful Meal dish is a four-star Dessert that can be made using four simple ingredients:

  • Wheat
  • Blueberries
  • Bananas
  • Raspberries

Toss these four items into any cooking pot around the valley to cook up your desired dish. You can use the cooking station at Tiana's Palace, Chez Remy, or any other one you may have placed around the village.

Make sure you select the right ingredients carefully, as choosing the wrong one at any step can lead to making other dishes. Fruitcake is an especially similar recipe, so choose the right items with precision.

How to get Wheat in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Wheat is a crop you must plant, grow, and harvest yourself. You can purchase Wheat Seeds from Goofy's Stall in the Peaceful Meadow and Ancient's Landing biomes for one Star Coin. These stalls also sometimes have already grown Wheat for sale, but not always.

Once you have the seeds, you can plant this crop anywhere you like, then water it to start the growing process. Wheat only takes a minute to grow, so you'll have plenty to harvest in no time. Be sure to bring a gardening buddy with you so you can earn some extra Wheat.

How to get Blueberries in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Blueberries can be picked from Blueberry Bushes. You have five of these bushes around your valley, with two starting off in Dazzle Beach and three originating from the Forest of Valor. They can be moved anywhere else in your village, so there's a decent chance you may have moved them elsewhere. If you're not sure where to find them, check all spots marked by a Fruit icon on your map.

How to get Bananas in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Bananas grow on Banana Trees you can forage from. There are five trees you can pick this ingredient from, two of which originate from the Peaceful Meadow biome and three of which can be found in the Peaceful Meadow. These can be freely moved around anywhere you like, so if you're not sure where you placed them, look for the Fruit icon on the map. There are also two bonus Banana Trees you can pick from in the Moana Realm.

How to get Raspberries in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Raspberries can be picked from Raspberry Bushes. Initially, you can find four bushes in the Peaceful Meadow biome and two in the Plaza area. Like all other Fruit trees and bushes, they can be moved around. Look for the Fruit icon on your map to check all spots that have Fruit available for you to harvest.

After you're done cooking the Joyful Meal recipe, there are lots of other tasks you can work on next. Next, you may want to find all Pillars, complete the Collateral Damage quest, find The Unwritten Realms keys, and learn all Jade Skull riddle answers.

Standing in a garden surrounded by crops with R2-D2 in Disney Dreamlight Valley

As you navigate through the Retro Roadtrip Star Path event in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you'll encounter many tricky tasks. There are lots of riddles you need to solve, like the one that asks you to harvest something white and fluffy.

You're not given much to work off of here, so it can be quite tough to determine what needs to be done for this task. If you're stumped and struggling to get this duty done, here's how to harvest something white and fluffy in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

What is something white and fluffy in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Pointing at some white cotton growing in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

Something white and fluffy is Cotton in DDV. There might be other items you think match this description, but for the Retro Roadtrip Star Path event, only Cotton counts and allows you to make progress in the event.

Harvest something white and fluffy in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To complete the harvest something white and fluffy task, you need to harvest a total of 15 Cotton. Unless you already have some growing in your village, you'll likely need to purchase Cotton Seeds, plant the Cotton, water it, and wait for it to grow. Here's how to tackle this process.

  • Purchase Cotton Seeds. You can buy them from Goofy's Stall in the Sunlit Plateau biome. They cost 42 Star Coins, and each seed that's planted yields one Cotton.
  • Plant 15 Cotton Seeds. If you're lucky, you might not need to plant 15 to get the amount you need, as you might come across some gardening bonuses. There's no way to know if you will, though, so it's best to plant 15 to be safe. This crop grows slightly faster in the Sunlit Plateau biome, so consider planting it there.
  • Water your Cotton plants. They don't start growing until they've been watered. Once they have, it takes 25 minutes in any regular biome and just over 22 minutes in the Sunlit Plateau biome for these crops to flourish. You must water them two additional times during the growth stage to prevent halting the process. You can also use an Ancient Gardener to keep them watered.
  • Harvest the Cotton. Pick all the Cotton you have until you've gathered 15. Make sure you have a gardening friend at your side when completing this step. Any extra Cotton they find won't count for the Star Path event, but it's still nice to stock up on this precious resource for later.

Completing this duty gets to 15 Tokens to spend on the Retro Roadtrip Star Path. It's enough for some of the smaller rewards, but not enough to claim any of the bigger prizes, so you'll likely want to save them and keep working on other quests to earn more.

With this tricky task now complete, you can move on to tackling other important Star Path quests. Next, you might work on mining for oval Gems, practicing mine-fulness, feeding the Sunbird critters their favourite food, and mining for square Gems.

Standing with Joy and Sadnesss outside in the grass in disney dreamlight valley

The Emotional Rescue update brought the Retro Roadtrip Star Path to the village, and with it, some pretty massive changes to this event system in Disney Dreamlight Valley. The biggest one is the addition of routine duties.

Since routine duties didn't exist prior to this, there's a decent chance you're not familiar with how they work and what you need to accomplish to get them done. If you're hoping to earn all prizes featured in any given Star Path event, you need to know how to complete Star Path routine duties in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

What are Star Path routine duties in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Routine duties are an additional set of duties that unlock weekly on Wednesdays for a specified amount of time before the event ends. For the Retro Roadtrip Star Path, new routine duties will be unlocked for five weeks, but this may vary with future Star Paths.

These special tasks appear alongside regular Retro Roadtrip duties, meaning you have two types of missions to get done. The addition of these new types of duties is meant to offset the removal of tougher tasks that would take multiple days to complete, including those with locked content and those that otherwise made progression in the event difficult.

There are enough Tokens in the regular Star Path event to unlock all rewards as soon as you finish them. The routine duties just grant you some extra ones over time to spend on the bonus prizes featured in it.

When do new routine duties unlock in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

A fresh set of routine duties unlocks every Wednesday for five weeks while the Retro Roadtrip event is active. New missions will be added at precisely 8am CT/1pm UTC. Each batch includes three unique quests for you to get done.

How to unlock routine duties in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You can unlock additional routine duties by completing all missions from the previous week. These quests must be completed in order, so to access fresh tasks, you have to steadily progress through each stage.

If you start late, you can easily catch up without waiting between weeks, but you do still need to finish the tasks in the order they're given. This changes if you purchase the Premium Star Path, as acquiring it allows you to complete the routine duties in any order you like once they're available.

All Emotional Rescue Star Path changes in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The Emotional Rescue update overhauled quite a lot of key Star Path features to accompany the arrival of routine duties with the intention of making these special events overall easier to get done. Here are all of the changes to this event system.

  • Routine duties have been added as a new type of Star Path progression system.
  • All duties that require specific characters outside of those added in the most recent update have been removed.
  • All duties involving game features you have to unlock, like DreamSnaps, restaurant orders, and character-specific tasks, have been removed.
  • Memory Orb duties have been reduced.
  • Missions asking you to craft Training Manuals have been removed.
  • New types of duties, like Photo Gallery and Companion tasks, have been added.
  • Star Path events will now run for five additional days.
  • The grace period for spending Tokens after the Star Path event ends has been reduced to 48 hours.

There are plenty of other exciting additions and changes featured in this update, so you may want to review the Emotional Rescue update patch notes to learn more about them. There are also plenty of standard missions to tackle in the Star Path event, like mining for oval Gems, practicing mine-fulness, feeding the Sunbird critters their favourite food, and mining for square Gems.

Standing on beach by shellfish in disney dreamlight valley

There are many missions you have to tackle to navigate through the entirety of the Retro Roadtrip Star Path event in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Many of them are presented as vague clues you need to solve, like the collect some shoreline shellfish quest.

Since you're given no further insight or help beyond this vague hint, it can be quite tricky to determine what you need to do to complete it. It's not too tough a task to navigate once you know what it's asking for, so here's how to collect some shoreline shellfish in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

What is shoreline shellfish in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

taking a picture with shellfish in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

Shoreline shellfish refers to some Seafood you can forage around the valley, specifically Seafood you find along the coast of the Dazzle Beach biome. Not all Seafood counts as shoreline shellfish, and some items you might expect to fall under this category don't, so you must search for the right ones to get it done.

All shoreline shellfish in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There are three types of shoreline shellfish you can pick up for this task, all of which can be found around the Dazzle Beach biome. The items that count for this task are:

  • Clams – A pink shellfish.
  • Scallops – A dark blue shellfish.
  • Oysters – A light turquoise shellfish.

There are plenty of other Seafood items you can fish up, like Squid, Crab, and Lobster, but none of these items count for this Star Path quest since they aren't found along the shore. If you have The Storybook Vale, you also might be tempted to pick up Mussels from around Mythopia, but these don't count either, since there's no beach in this biome for them to be along the shore of. Instead, you must stick only to the three Seafood items you can scavenge around the shore of Dazzle Beach.

Collect some shoreline shellfish in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To complete the collect some shoreline shellfish duty for the Retro Roadtrip Star Path event, you need to acquire 10 Seafood from the coastal region of Dazzle Beach. You must pick up Clams, Scallops, or Oysters to get this quest done. To grab these items, simply find them along the shore, then press the button that appears next to the words "Pick Up" when you're next to them.

Collecting shells on the beach in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

The shoreline shellfish you're after respawns around this biome naturally as you pick up the Seafood already present, so get to work clearing it away to make room for more. If you don't want to wait for it to respawn, there's a bit of a useful trick you can use to get this task done quicker.

Drop any Clams, Scallops, and Oysters you already have on the ground and pick them back up to quickly progress through this task. You can use freshly found Seafood for this task or grab some you have packed away in storage. Repeat this step as many times as you need to until you've picked up the 10 required for this task.

Completing this task gets you 15 Tokens to spend in the Star Path event. It's a decent prize, but you'll likely still need a bit more if you're hoping to unlock any of the bigger prizes. Luckily, there are plenty of other Retro Roadtrip Star Path duties you can get to work tackling next. If you're not sure where to start, you might try feeding the Sunbird critters their favourite food, mining for oval Gems, practicing mine-fulness, and mining for square Gems.

A character in a yellow and brown sunflower dress standing with max the dog in front of scrooge's shop in disney dreamlight valley

The Retro Roadtrip Star Path brought a new gameplay system to the village with the introduction of routine duties in Disney Dreamlight Valley. These missions are essential to complete if you want to earn all special event prizes.

Since this is a new system that didn't exist in previous updates, you might have some trouble navigating it. It's not too difficult to work through once you're familiar with it, so here are all week one Retro Roadtrip Star Path routine duties and how to complete them in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to complete all week one Retro Roadtrip routine duties in Disney Dreamlight Valley

For the first week of the Retro Roadtrip Star Path event, there are three routine duties you can complete. You must finish all of these duties to unlock more routine duties, which become available on Wednesday each week as long as the event is active and you've finished the quests from the week before.

Task How to complete Quantity Reward
Purchase item from stall. Purchase any item from any stall. 10 10
Visit Scrooge McDuck's Shop. Venture inside Scrooge McDuck's shop. 1 30
Buy something from Scrooge McDuck's Shop. Purchase any item from Scrooge McDuck's store. 5 70

Finishing your weekly routine duties gets you additional Tokens to spend in the Retro Roadtrip Star Path event. If you're hoping to claim bonus rewards like the Cozy Cone Motel, navigating through them is crucial.

Purchase item from stall in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Your first quest is to purchase a total of 10 items from any stall around the valley. You can buy any items you like to progress this task, but you must spend Star Coins at a stall to do so. The stalls you can visit and buy from for this quest are:

  • Any of Goofy's Stalls around Dreamlight Valley
  • Any of Goofy's Stalls around Eternity Isle
  • Any of Goofy's Stalls around Storybook Vale
  • Kristoff's Stall
  • Gaston's Stall
  • Tiana's Meal Stall
  • Aladdin's Gem Stall

Visit Scrooge McDuck's Shop in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The second weekly routine quest is to visit Scrooge McDuck's shop. Venture to his store in Dreamlight Valley, Eternity Isle, or Storybook Vale, then head inside to finish this task. It's one of the easiest ones to get done, but the next quest requires you to finish one extra step, so don't leave just yet.

Buy something from Scrooge McDuck's Shop in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The third and last weekly quest for the first week of the event is to buy five items from Scrooge McDuck's shop. You can purchase any items you like, but you must acquire a minimum of five to finish this task.

Scrooge McDuck always has plenty of items in his shop, so even if you've bought up everything available, duplicates will still appear for you to buy. If you don't feel like wasting your Star Coins on anything that's in the shop, you can always wait for it to refresh and visit on the following day. You can also buy items from his shops around other worlds if you have any of the DLCs installed.

With these quests now complete, you can move on to tackling other important tasks around the valley. Next, you might work on unlocking all Companion abilities and rewards, completing The Two Flames United quest, and finding White Bird Snippets.

silkson gphoto gamescom

It's incredible to think I'm writing this article in a swamped press area in Cologne, Germany, but I just had the opportunity to become one of the first people at Gamescom to play Hollow Knight: Silksong. It was only for a short 30-minute window, but I feel inclined to share my thoughts on the game.

Upon rushing to the screen to dodge the queues that were coming my way, I steadied myself. I picked up the controller to finally get my first hands-on with the title for many, many years, and after watching a small opening cutscene and getting to play as Hornet for the first time, I was immediately hooked.

The Gamescom demo gave a small taster of the content on offer, including the opening 15 minutes of the game and the first boss, as well as a later stage that unlocks more mechanics and shows how you might progress and learn new moves as Hornet down the line. In both instances, I wanted to take my time and truly immerse myself in the world—instead of rushing through—so I could check out every minor detail (though I still couldn't find the secret room, as hard as I tried).

Let's discuss the obvious. This game is stunningly beautiful with its lush visuals and animations. The way Hornet moves also feels fluid and responsible. Her dash attacks, coupled with her attacks, make for a solid gameplay experience where it feels like you are only being punished for playing poorly (as you should be.) Her dash attacks and weapons are solid, though it took me a bit of time to get used to the basic movement.

As for those who have never played this game or its predecessor before, it's a very Souls-like experience where you have challenging gameplay that sends you back to the start when you die, forcing you to go through levels and fight bosses again if you fall too early. The enemies you face take quite a few hits, and overall, it is deeply rewarding and challenging.

But what did I think of the gameplay on offer? It was good, really good. I was disappointed to have such a short time with the game, as I desperately wanted to experience more of what it has to offer, but with the growing queue, I couldn't reasonably ask for more time. With that said, I still decided to stick around to watch others play and take notes on what I just experienced, while also looking back at previous reveals to see if anything was different this time around.

I wanted to quickly touch on some things I found about the game in comparison to the 2019 gameplay demon, though. From what I could tell, healing is way slower, and the team appears to have nerfed quick healing when it used to happen in the blink of an eye. Don't get me wrong, healing feels faster than it did in Hollow Knight, but it's interesting to compare my initial playthrough with everything we have seen of Silksong so far through its lengthy development process.

I'll still need time to check out more about the game and study the various gameplay videos that will show up from this event. Still, it's hard not to be engrossed with the small amount of gameplay I got to experience, and I can't wait to pick up and play more in the future.

Unfortunately, when exactly that will be possible remains a mystery. Here's hoping we get a confirmed release date real soon.

Kirby Air Riders kirby on a bike

Mere hours after Nintendo's Kirby Air Riders direct, I was holding a Switch 2 Pro Controller and playing the game at a special preview event in New York City.

I watched back Mr. Sakurai's presentation while I rode the train into Manhattan, so I had an idea of what to expect after not playing the original title over 20 years ago. After actually playing this new game, though, I can say it's probably deeper than you may think, while also easy being accessible enough for any level of gamer to pick up and play quick matches.

A small handful of media members, including myself, were some of the first to get hands-on time with Kirby Air Riders yesterday, which Nintendo staff on-hand described as a "vehicle action game." This is not Mario Kart, although there are races in it. It's something a bit more unique than that, and it's way more fast-paced than you may be thinking.

Sakurai's Direct did a great job of describing everything involved in the upcoming title. It's simple enough on the surface, but can easily be min-maxed to great success, especially in the City Trial mode which is the bulk of the Kirby Air Riders experience.

You can learn the ropes in the racing mode, including how to drift, attack, glide, and dive. The races are quick and torrid with some fun mechanics, like drifting behind those in front of you to gather stars that give you speed and keep you in the race.

But from what I played, the real fun is had in City Trial. In this versus mode, up to 16 players drive and glide around like mad on a floating island, picking up power-ups to increase stats like their top speed, turning capabilities, weight, gliding distance, and more.

There are power-ups scattered on the map that you drive over to pick them up, but others are found in boxes you must break by wiggling the left joystick quickly (you also use the stick to steer left and right, or glide up and down, but that's it). The only other buttons involved in this game are B to boost and powerslide, and Y to use a Special ability or swap vehicles, the latter of which is supremely important in City Trial. You start with a basic vehicle but can find up to 12 other kinds on the map, and each of them plays and drives very differently from one another.

I found myself gravitating to the Warp Star in my 45 minutes or so of game time, as it offers a good balance of driving and gliding capability, and some of the other vehicles I found leaned far too heavy in one direction for my liking. Other options offer higher health, attack power, or flying capabilities, so it's all about finding which vehicle suits you and your playstyle best.

This is where I think some players will find a deeper meta game in Kirby Air Riders. Selecting the right power-ups to pick up within the mayhem, along with the right vehicle, and even the right character (all of the Kirby heroes and villains have their own individual attributes and abilities, too) has the potential to be pretty fun.

At the end of five minutes of gathering power-ups and trolling foes, a Stadium (mini-game mode) is selected and you use your accumulated buffs to help guide you to victory. I won one of my games and lost the other, but managed to somehow grab a whopping 103 power-ups in one level thanks to a special event where pillars would spawn on the map. The players in the lobby are then able to swarm the pillar and attack it, and once defeated, a massive amount of power-ups drop to the ground. Other special events that spawn in at random include quick races, spiked balls or meteors falling from the sky, and everyone shrinking down to mini size.

Stadium game modes vary, but my favorite was Dust-Up Derby, which is like a destruction derby where you use your driving, flying, attacking, and Specials to attack other players. The player with the most KOs at the end of the game wins the whole thing, and then you can queue up for another match instantly to start all over again.

The gameplay in all of Kirby Air Riders' modes is super fast-paced, and pretty overwhelming at first. It's definitely a game to stick with, learn the ropes for, and master if you're looking for the allure of quick multiplayer matches or a raucous fun time with friends, but there's an option to slow things down a bit if it gets a bit too frantic, which is likely for some.

Gamers will be able to judge for themselves when Kirby Air Riders launches on the Nintendo Switch 2 on Nov. 20 this year.
