Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 15, 2025 12:48 PM ![]() This news story about Fata Deum is written in homage of a random early access Steam reviewer who remarks that if you've never played a god sim before, they're kind of like idle sims. My word, the casually ferocious and embittered atheist poetry of that. Consider my fedora tipped, milords and ladies. I'm off to read the Screwtape Letters again. Fata Deum isn't just any born-again idle sim. It pays overt homage to Lionhead's Black & White, with higgledy-piggledy 3D island maps and a familiar hand cursor, used to carry believers to safety or lob them into the sea. There are some significant differences, however. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 15, 2025 11:30 AM ![]() There's a fresh update from the organisers of the Stop Destroying Videogames citizens' initiative, that being the petition asking EU lawmakers to look into the issue of publishers rendering online games unplayable when servers are switched off. Despite some concerns on their part a few months ago, the group claim that while the signatures they amassed are still being verified, "early reports from several countries" suggest "around 97%" of these are valid. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 15, 2025 11:24 AM ![]() Battlefield 2042 supported 128 player matches at launch in 2021. Battlefield 6 will support 64 player matches, when it launches on 10th October this year. Some mistake here, surely? Battlefield 6 is a sequel to Battlefield 2042, and sequels are supposed to have More. If I have just given voice to your innermost thoughts, then I fear it is time to bamboozle and horrify you with the nightmare-physics of the arcane game design proverb, "sometimes, less is more". "But how can this be?" you shriek, as the ground crumbles and the walls peel away. Matter cannot increase and decrease simultaneously! A "+1" cannot be a "-1"! You reach for the whiskey bottle in a frenzy, but it is too late to unlearn this awful knowledge. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 15, 2025 10:00 AM ![]() During my first two hours serving Strange Antiquities' customers, I tugged the bronze pendulum of an ornate clock at least a dozen times, wondering what the resulting spin and settle of its hands meant. I checked my occult encyclopaedia's index for mentions of time and compared the clock face to shapes in a book of hermetic symbols. Each time I drew a blank I yanked the pendulum a few more times, just in case. This follow-up to the joyous 2022 puzzler Strange Horticulture is packed with these promises of future puzzles: a locked cabinet with no key, a sliding-door cupboard with no clear purpose, three empty plinths beneath your shop counter, an engraved desk with four missing chunks. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 15, 2025 9:15 AM ![]() I'm not sure the just-released Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream is one of those "good games" you're all so bloody obsessed with. My working summary, based on 30 minutes with the demo, is that it's an unofficial Like A Dragon/Yakuza game developed with a fraction of the budget, and set in "fictionalised" Indonesia. That's to say, it's an open world comedy beat 'em up with a bunch of other genres haphazardly stirred in. I compared it to Rockstar's work and Saints Row in this week's Maw, which was Mostly Wrong. This is a predominantly on-foot experience, for one thing, and you can't grievously assault people at random. There are designated gangs of hoodlums you're permitted to punch out, and as far as I can tell, you have to wait for them to Make Trouble first. It seems very polite and passive for a brawler. Also, you get to transform briefly into a dying cow. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 15, 2025 7:26 AM ![]() Oh, Netflix's The Witcher TV series is back with its fourth series next month, following a lengthy hiatus that's seen Geralt regenerate from Henry Cavill into Liam Hemsworth. The new series premieres in late October, and first official looks at both the HemsGerry and Laurence Fishburne as Blood and Wine vampire Regis have been offered. Hang on a minute, I thought, when I scrolled past this news on one of the screens in my Adrian Veidt-esque world-watching setup - Laurence Fishburne's in it? Yep, it seems that after not getting around to watching the third series, I've managed to completely blot out all knowledge that the actor behind The Matrix's pill distributor is being cast in The Witcher. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 15, 2025 6:26 AM ![]() Some weeks, finding new games for the Maw is like scouring a village of octogenarians for the last remaining virgin to throw into a rumbling volcano. During gamescom 2025, Blizzard teased a Persona 5 crossover for Overwatch 2, but didn't mention characters who would be part of it. Now official concept art showed up on social media that showed all of the participating folks and individual images. The event, as a whole, kicks off on September 16, 2025.
There are four confirmed characters for the Persona 5 Overwatch 2 crossover, and they all involve Phantom Thieves from the base game. Newcomer Wuyang will get the Ren "Joker" Amamiya skin. Genji will get to dress up in Ryuji "Skull" Sakamoto's costume. Lifeweaver will wear the Yusuke "Fox" Kitagawa outfit. Finally, D.Va appears as Makoto "Queen" Niijima.
Here's the full gallery of concept art showing each character from Overwatch 2 dressed up as a Phantom Thief.

Toby Fox announced a two-day celebration for the 10th anniversary of Undertale, and noted this will involve a two-day live stream event showing a run of the game. That will appear September 20-21, 2025. The creator of the series also used a Fall 2025 newsletter to share an update on Deltarune Chapter 5 that included a new release window. It could launch in the second half of 2026, following the 2025 launch of 3 and 4.
In the case of Undertale, we'll get to watch Toby Fox play the game for its 10th anniversary on Fangamer's Twitch channel. That will be the only source. It's unknown if they'll be only archived on Twitch or also available elsewhere. Each day, it will start at 4pm PT/7pm ET. The creator did note in the Fall 2025 newsletter that the last time this type of stream happened, "it took over 8 hours…"
As for the Deltarune Chapter 5 update, Toby Fox noted the team is currently at the "making the game" phase of development. The developers still need to work on localizations and the porting process. That will be followed by finishing it up and Q&A testing before the release. Fox noted, "Factoring the localization and testing... I don't think that the game will be released in the first half of 2026." The more detailed assessments said early areas and regular enemies are mostly done. As for the story, Fox also said, "Probably around 85% of cutscenes have been created up to a first draft state, however, of those at least 20% or so will require more polish."
Undertale is available on the Switch, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, and PC, and the 10th anniversary live streams will be at 4pm PT/7pm ET on September 20-21, 2025. Deltarune Chapters 1-4 are available on the Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, and PC, with Chapter 5 due in the second half of 2026.

Certain Sanrio characters don't seem as popular outside Japan. Or at least, they aren't as visible. Gaopowerroo, Kirimichan, and Minnanotabo feel like good examples. Cogimyun the wheatflour fairy is a good example, but after playing through the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Wheatflour Wonderland expansion, I suspect she'll be more popular soon. The new area feels like not only a strong addition to an already robust game, but a fantastic introduction to a mascot people might not already know. It also adds a sort of magical girl element to the game that I really appreciated.
Accessing the Wheatflour Wonderland expansion in Hello Kitty Island Adventure does require progressing through the storyline a bit. Which makes sense. We need to be established on the islands and familiar with certain characters. Specifically, initially reaching the Wheatflour Wonderland involves Kuromi and her potions, so make sure you're at that point to get going. Once we are, we can head to that location, meet Cogimyun, and learn about the need for the Wheatflour Guardians to aid the land.
First off, Cogimyun herself is adorable. This feels like a true introduction to the character and not just the location and situation. Which is great, because I guarantee not so many people know her worldwide. (I saw the 2025 Sanrio Character Ranking popularity poll results!) Once we get to Wheatflour Wonderland with Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Kuromi's assistance, it's a full introduction to who she is. I also appreciated that both the questline tied to the new area and building up friendship with her offers a greater understanding of her backstory and those around her. Like having Cogimyon, her brother, being immediately a part of things instead of an eventual Visitor is really helpful for lore purposes. The depiction of her is great her, both in terms of her personality and appearance, and I love that. Considering she's a little puff of a thing, it's great to see the detail around her accessories and design.
I mentioned the magical girl sort of influence here as well, and I really appreciated Wheatflour Wonderland and Cogimyun introducing a new mechanic to Hello Kitty Island Adventure. We can unlock wands as part of the questline here, with them having both practical and silly applications. Which I love, as it made crafting them really feel worthwhile. There are forcefields that won't break unless you use the right one, with sometimes multiple wants needed. They can also be used for transformations, which again can be fun or actually necessary. One of the minigames even involves them, however since it did involve a second player I didn't get to try that out. But at the same time, the other minigames involving characters like Ebi Fry don't have that limitation and feel challenging in a new way.

What I also really appreciated about playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure Wheatflour Wonderland, aside from all the opportunities to interact with Cogimyun, is the sense of productivity and fulfillment in it. This is a huge space! There are a lot of areas to unlock and visit. There are so many collectibles, and it goes beyond new clothing and furniture. There are the extra activities, like the Training Courses. We get to search for Wheathearts. I didn't complete this area during my time with it, of course, but it feels like the sort of area that will keep me busy for a few weeks once it does release and I properly experience it.
I was curious how Sunblink would handle the Hello Kitty Island Adventure additions like Wheatflour Wonderland, especially considering how large and influential the free updates have been, and I'm pleased to see how fulfilling it is to see Cogimyun in such a large role in such an eventful add-on. There is so much to do in this new area. There are so many different kinds of things to collect. Plus the new character herself looks great and feels like she's really given the time needed in the quest and friendship tiers to grow. I'm really pleased based on my first impressions of it.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, PC, and iOS devices via Apple Arcade, and the Wheatflour Wonderland expansion with Cogimyun comes to the Switch, PC, and Apple Arcade devices on September 18, 2025.

Back in August 2025, we learned Fae Farm online multiplayer support would end for the PC version and it would become a single-player only game. This was due to Forte Lab acquisition of Phoenix Labs and ensuing layoffs in 2025. Now, Gambit Digital, Game Cloud Network, Phatty Acid, and Pure Wonder Interactive announced they acquired the console and PC game, with Gambit acting as publisher.
At the moment, Gambit Digital didn't announce all the details about all the ways the acquisition will affect Fae Farm, but it did mention continuing live service and online elements. As a result of the Phoenix Labs shutdown announcement, the PC version went offline on September 10, 2025. As of time of writing, online co-op multiplayer doesn't seem to be back yet. Also, while the Steam page is live for the PC version of Fae Farm, the Epic Games Store product page is still returning a 404 error.
Fae Farm is an optional multiplayer farming sim with light action elements for its dungeon portions. Players head to an island and run the farm there, also interacting with villagers and getting opportunities to gain wings, visit a fairy realm, and unlock access to new locations. There was an option to explore with a group of up to four people. The Switch version also allowed for a local wireless multiplayer option if enough people in the same space had consoles and copies of the game.
Fae Farm is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Gambit Digital, Game Cloud Network, Phatty Acid, and Pure Wonder Interactive will share more details about the future of the game going forward.

Classic Atlus RPG Persona 5 is next up in Overwatch 2's growing collection of collaborations, and the full Phantom Thieves squad is on hand.
The new set of collab skins, featuring OW2 heroes dressed up as five of the characters from the JRPG, all have their own unique animations to remain faithful to the source material, according to art director Doon Rogers.
"We included lots of fun artistic touches in this collaboration," Rogers said. "For instance, there are elements of Mercy's Panther skin that are inspired by Carmen – like rose petals falling from her wings – while the Xuanwu Staff that Wuyang uses as Joker is meant to visually evoke Arsène. The Heroes even leave paint splashes when they move!"
Here's a peek at all of the Persona 5 Phantom Thieves skins coming to OW2 on Sept. 16.

On top of the skins, OW2 will have a Phantom Thieves event that is inspired by the art from Persona 5.
"The collaboration event hub itself uses those signature menu visuals that we all know and love, plus some phenomenal key art that guest artist Shigenori Soejima was kind enough to create for us," Rogers explained. "There's also a different Phantom Thieves-inspired UI overlay when you hover over the Shop icons for the skins, which is the first time we've done anything like that for a collaboration."

When you begin playing Ultimate Team for the first time, these packs will be provided to you directly in the game or via the Web app. They're usually themed around a selected league, and you can pick one. While you can choose anyone you like, certain picks are always better.
Best Starter League pack choice in FC 26
The Premier League will be the best Starter League pack in FC 26.
We know that Season 1 of Ultimate Team will be themed around England. The Season Pass objectives will feature cards of footballers from England and those playing in different leagues. Based on the teaser, more cards should arrive via SBCs.
The first task of building a good squad is to use cards with similar chemistry. Simply put, it's better to use cards from either/the same nation or league (or teams in rarer cases). If the first season provides cards from England, having Premier League items will be beneficial. In fact, about half the Season Pass cards are from the Premier League.
Advanced SBCs are another key aspect to consider. These SBCs, in the last few years, have featured league and nation hybrids where you have to use different cards. There are a few leagues that typically suit the requirements better.
If you're not a hardcore player who doesn't care about the meta, it's best to go with the league you like. However, those looking to min-max their starting composition should consider the abovementioned instructions. Additionally, getting extra hours of free gameplay will help them get ahead of the competition when FC 26's early access begins.

If you think you've mastered the art of ghost hunting in Phasmophobia, you may be ready to put your skills to the test. Weekly challenge modes are a great way to see just how good you are.
These special trials modify how the game works, usually with rules that make the experience a lot harder. Successfully finishing the challenge gets you plenty of XP and cash, so it's well worth the effort. Here's the weekly challenge in Phasmophobia and everything you need to know to beat it.
Table of contents
Phasmophobia weekly challenge mode (Sept. 14-21)
![]()
From Sept. 14 to 21, the weekly challenge is Deja Vu in Phasmophobia. In this challenge, you barely have any sanity, and what little you do have drains rapidly. The ghost also only gives you two pieces of evidence, so you have to put on your detective hat and watch for minuscule details to succeed in this one.
How to complete the weekly challenge in Phasmophobia
To finish the weekly challenge mode in Phasmophobia, you need to correctly identify the ghost present on the featured map three times. The specific changes present in each trial mode vary, but your goal is always the same.
All Deja Vu weekly challenge modifiers in Phasmophobia
This challenge mode has several specific rules that modify the way the contract functions. Here are all the key details you need to know about this trial.

Phasmophobia Deja Vu weekly challenge mode tips
The Deja Vu challenge is one of the trickier ones you can attempt in Phasmophobia, so here are some of the best tips to help you get it done.
When does the challenge mode change in Phasmophobia?
The challenge mode changes every Monday at 12am UTC, which translates to 7pm CT every Sunday. You have a full week to tackle each challenge mode when it's available. All challenge modes return regularly since they're on a rotating schedule, so if you don't get to finish one, you can always try it again in the future.
Next weekly challenge mode in Phasmophobia
The next weekly challenge mode, which will run for a full week from Sep. 21-28, will likely either be Tag! You're It! or Speedrun!. This week's trial was supposed to be Speedrun!, but in honor of the fifth anniversary event, it was swapped to Deja Vu instead.
Because of this, we don't know whether the devs will cycle back to the correct trial or continue from where they're at now. Regardless of which one is chosen, the challenge mode will begin as soon as this week's featured one, Deja Vu, ends.

Persona 5 will join the growing roster of Overwatch 2 collaborations tomorrow, and fans of both the FPS and RPG are thrilled with the costumes coming to the game.
Joining the likes of Transformers, Gundam Wing, One Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop, Avatar: The Last Airbender, My Hero Academia, and K-pop super group LE SSERAFIM, the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5 will be joining your in-game lobbies imminently.
![]()
The full list of skins are as follows:
"We included lots of fun artistic touches in this collaboration," said art director Dion Rogers. "For instance, there are elements of Mercy's Panther skin that are inspired by Carmen – like rose petals falling from her wings – while the Xuanwu Staff that Wuyang uses as Joker is meant to visually evoke Arsène. The Heroes even leave paint splashes when they move!"
It's not just the skins, though. A limited time event as part of the collab will also include that trademark Atlus and Persona touch, as well, celebrating the partnership between Blizzard and Atlus.
"The collaboration event hub itself uses those signature menu visuals that we all know and love, plus some phenomenal key art that guest artist Shigenori Soejima was kind enough to create for us," Rogers said. "There's also a different Phantom Thieves-inspired UI overlay when you hover over the Shop icons for the skins, which is the first time we've done anything like that for a collaboration."
The skins will be available to purchase in the store starting on weekly reset tomorrow, Sept. 16, and will be available for a limited time, and OW2 players can log in to complete challenges to unlock other exclusive cosmetics as well.

When Nintendo revealed the prices of the re-releases of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 on the Nintendo Switch system, I was livid, as I'm sure many of you were. These releases are essentially the Wii versions ported over with no remastered graphics and nothing to warrant the $70 bundle price point—at least in my eyes.
It's worse when you consider that Super Mario Galaxy 1 is a game that was part of the Super Mario 3D collection for the Nintendo Switch. That collection sold for the same price as Super Mario Galaxy's standalone version. It's pretty crazy, especially when you consider the bundle costs the same as some new Nintendo Switch 2 games like Donkey Kong Bananza—and some are even cheaper than this re-release.
It all feels pretty grimy, and a quick, expensive buck Nintendo is trying to cash in on to tie in with the Super Mario Bros. Galaxy movie coming out next year, instead of releasing a brand-new Galaxy 3 game. It all just feels wrong, and looking online, I can see that I'm not the only one who feels this way.
We are talking about two 15-year-old Nintendo Wii games, where, in theory, you could purchase both of these games with a Nintendo Wii, and it might be cheaper than buying the games on Switch 2 alone (so long as you have a Switch 2), with the only lost feature being the inability to play them on the go on a handheld. I can't be the only one who thinks the prices of these games are madness, correct?
It feels like Nintendo is trying to see how far it can get away with some business decisions at the start of the Switch 2 generation, and it appears to have lost what made the original Switch 1 launches so much more memorable. Affordable, free updates to keep games going longer. That felt like a golden age of Nintendo and gaming, one that now seems to be getting tainted by current decision-making.
When you add this on top of the ongoing debate around $80 games, the Nintendo Switch 2 game key cards, the Nintendo Switch 2 versions of games, the Virtual Boy peripheral coming out in 2026 that is touted to be $100, among other controversies, it feels like Nintendo is making a string of bad decisions that could come back and haunt them. And I say could, because the Switch 2 has had a remarkable few months of sales, smashing records that feel overshadowed by these decisions. And let's not even get into the whole patent argument ongoing around Pokémon and Palworld, too.
It really does strike you as poor taste, and I genuinely hope that Nintendo is keeping an eye on the feedback regarding its decisions lately. Creatively, Nintendo is flourishing, with all its games being masterclasses. If only the business side would stop making so many more choices.
I've been a Nintendo fanboy through and through. I want to see the company be successful and bring us more amazing games throughout the Switch 2 lifecycle. But these current decisions really feel like Nintendo has lost the plot.

It's been five years since Phasmophobia first launched in an early access state, and the devs have a special event planned to mark the occasion. The fifth anniversary celebration event isn't a massive one, but it does have a few special festivities you don't want to miss.
Unlike most other events, there's no event board breakdown for this one, so it can be pretty tricky to figure out what' this one's included. To ensure you don't miss out on anything, here's a full guide for Phasmophobia's fifth anniversary event.
Table of contents
All Phasmophobia 5 year anniversary event features
![]()
The five-year anniversary event for Phasmophobia features some fun environment changes, useful buffs, and some special rewards. It's not a massive event like seasonal ones, but there's still quite a bit to enjoy, so here's a full breakdown of everything.
It's possible that there might be a bit more to this event, as the devs have teased that they didn't want to spoil everything in the official celebrating five years of Phasmophobia blog post. So far, though, we haven't come across any other features. We'll keep ghost hunting just in case, and report back here if we uncover anything new.
How long is Phasmophobia's 5th anniversary event?
![]()
The anniversary event is available to complete from Sept. 15 to 22. It's a fairly short one, and you've only got exactly one week to get it done, so diving in early on is crucial if you want to experience everything it has to offer.
There's plenty more in store for the ghost hunting game before the year ends. According to the official Phasmophobia late 2025 roadmap, we've still got the launch of Nell's Diner, the player character overhaul update, and some festive Halloween and Christmas events to look forward to. In 2026, there's even more spooky fun planned, like Horror 2.0, so things won't be slowing down anytime soon.

FC 26's early access begins on Sept. 19 on consoles for those who are owners of the Ultimate Edition, but you can get at least a few additional hours of gameplay with a simple trick.
While the football game will also be available on PC, the release timings differ. If you're on PC, you don't have to employ the New Zealand trick, since early access will begin on Sept. 18. If you're on console, you'll either have to sit by and watch the PC users start their gameplay early, or you can try out this nifty trick.
How to play FC 26 early with the New Zealand trick?
The New Zealand trick is a simple method for changing the time and date of your console, which will allow you to start playing FC 26 early. This method is doable on PlayStation and Xbox, although it's easier on the latter.
Your console will now have the exact date and time applicable for New Zealand. That's all you have to do to trick the console into thinking that the game should be available for you. This method works because midnight on Sept. 19 will first occur in New Zealand, followed by other regions worldwide.
The system for PlayStation is slightly different.
This method has two massive problems. First, you must make a separate purchase if you bought the game on your main account. Spending $90 for just a few extra hours of gameplay makes little sense.
You'll also need a card that works on international transfers to purchase the game using your New Zealand account. If you're on PC, the game goes live on Sept. 18 at 7am PT, and you can use our countdown to stay updated.

With all the Borderlands 4 hype (and horror, because of the performance on PC), I decided to finally give the series a try, hopping into the title that kickstarted it all.
And, to be completely honest, y'all were right. I've been hearing for over a decade now about how Borderlands 1 and 2 were the greatest things on God's green Earth, and while I am yet to play the second one, I'm for sure going to stick with the series until all are done and dusted.
Looting like never before
![]()
I'm addicted to looter games, no matter what they are. Seeing colorful items drop left and right, their stats highlighted with green arrows indicating that they're upgrades over what you already have, induces a high in me that I cannot even begin to describe. Offloading all the excess loot at a trader, getting better gear, and grinding for hours is all too satisfying, and Borderlands has plenty of it.
Though a game from quite a while ago, and one definitely starting to set in stone all the ideas that'd shape the franchise, Borderlands drops loot like there's no tomorrow, with each and every enemy, box, chest, or hidden stash containing at least something of note. Whether it's money, ammo, or better guns, shields, and grenades, Borderlands puts a very strong focus on the looting aspect, and I just love it.
I've been playing it with a friend for the past few days, and I always want to get back into playing more, prevented only by real-life dread which we all have to go through day in and day out. But whenever in the game, I spend an ungodly amount of time fighting enemies at every corner, no matter how weak or low level they might be, all in anticipation of their dropping something worth our while.
And even when we know we won't get anything of note, the combat itself provides more than enough satisfaction, as I can't get enough of seeing heads pop, limbs fly off, and blood spray everywhere from just a single well-placed sniper shot.
This is amplified by the game's cartoonish art style, which I've absolutely fallen in love with, as it reminds me of a little old game called XIII from way back when. It also had this shaded, comic-book-inspired art direction that blends so well with violent action as found in Borderlands, and I can't wait to see how good it looks in subsequent, newer titles.
Characters and writing out of this world
![]()
Borderlands has the sort of unfiltered, uncaring type of writing that we'd rarely see nowadays. Swearing, clever jokes, and R-rated fun can be found at every corner and with every character. And even when it's not particularly mature, Borderlands has amazing dialogues, monologues, and voice lines that make you smile or laugh, and thus far, Claptrap is definitely number one in that respect.
He is just such a goofy character whose every appearance is memorable and fun, making me anticipate when he'll show up next. You find him at the most random locations, playing this sort of drama queen, yelling and screaming in the wake of combat, or pretending to be dying of exhaustion, mimicking all sorts of emotional distress, when in fact he just has a bolt loose.
I love him, he's adorable, and I can't wait to see more of him both in the original game and subsequent entries. And not only him—pretty much every character I've come across so far has been memorable, funny, and not just "that one NPC," which is a phrase we use to describe the majority of characters in video games.
No, in Borderlands, all characters matter, whether they're crucial to the story or otherwise.
So, yeah, everyone was right, and I should have listened a decade ago: Borderlands is an exceptional game, with great characters, art, combat, gameplay, and, most importantly, loot.

Marvel Rivals frequently introduces useful new features to make playing easier. It can sometimes be tricky to keep up with and find these new aspects, though, as is the case with your Strike Squad.
This special feature was introduced in the season four update, and although it wasn't really highlighted much in the patch notes, it's a pretty big improvement you'll want to know about. If you're having trouble finding this one, here's how to use the Strike Squad in Marvel Rivals.
Table of contents
What is Strike Squad in Marvel Rivals?
![]()
The Strike Squad option is essentially a favorites section where you can save all of your most-used characters for easier access. You can freely add any hero or villain to this list and remove them at any point.
Strike Squad was added in the season four update alongside Angela. It's a new way to view your favorite characters to play as, and a means to more quickly choose who you want to be in all types of matches.
How to add to Strike Squad in Marvel Rivals
You can add a hero to your Strike Squad by selecting the option to do so on the Heroes page. This process can be a bit tricky to find and use if you don't know where to look, so here's how to get it done.
The exact button you need to press varies by platform, but it's always displayed right next to the option when you hover over any character on the Heroes page. If you've already added a hero to your Strike Squad, this option instead says "Remove from Strike Squad," granting you an easy way to switch up your list at any time.
![]()
How to view Strike Squad in Marvel Rivals
You can view your Strike Squad by navigating to the Heroes tab and selecting the Strike Squad toggle near the upper right corner. This option sits right above the hero portraits, slightly left of the filter you can use to organize by different classes.
How to use Marvel Rivals Strike Squad
When loading into any type of match, you can use your Strike Squad by selecting the fifth option down on the character selection page. It's right underneath the Strategists tab. Unfortunately, this menu doesn't default to your Strike Squad, so you must select it manually to choose from your favorites.
Once you have this page open, you can select any of the listed heroes just like you usually would. Strike Squad is basically a favorites category that narrows down the number of characters displayed to only those you've selected, so it's a great way to lock in your choice quicker.
After building your perfect Strike Squad, you might get to work tackling some tricky achievements. Some good ones to get done are Echoes of the Abyss, Days of Future Past, Mutant and Proud!, and Whispers in Pieces.

Hello again, Destructoid, and welcome to the start of another week. As usual, we're kicking things off by talking about some of our favorite recent watches. This time, we're circling back around to discuss the second part of Wednesday season two, and diving into Hamilton.
Wednesday's killer season two conclusion delivered what might be the best episode of the entire show so far, and I'm quite eager to see what comes next for the Addams Family. Hamilton has made its way to the big screen for the first time since its debut, and it's a stellar show that demands to be seen this way.
![]()
The second half of Wednesday season two had four episodes, just like the first. "Woe Thyself," the sixth episode in the season, might be my favorite of the series so far, as it featured a hilarious body swap situation between Wednesday and Enid.
These two characters are the very heart and soul of the show, and they made this even clearer with this hilarious yet heartfelt episode. It's completely astonishing how well Jenna Ortega acted like Enid as Wednesday, and how nicely Emma Myers embodied Wednesday trapped in Enid's body.
I was laughing constantly this episode, especially with silly moments like when Enid, as Wednesday, gets a colorful makeover and dances to "BOOMBAYAH" by BLACKPINK in the Nevermore courtyard. Finding out that Wednesday meant it literally when she said she was allergic to color was also a ridiculous but endearing touch.
![]()
We also got loads more time with the rest of the Addams Family, and this show really works best when the spotlight is on them and Enid. Agnes has also cemented herself as a core character after this season, and now that she and Enid are on good terms, I'm hoping to see lots more of Wednesday, Enid, and Agnes as a trio in the future.
The cliffhanger was quite brutal, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what unfolds next. It seems like the next season will really spotlight Wednesday and Enid, as the former teams up with her uncle Fester to find her missing friend. More Fester is always a win for this show, so the future is looking good.
I first saw Hamilton a few years ago and have been a massive fan of it ever since. My love for it has only grown over time, especially since I finally got to see the official show onstage earlier this year. The filmed version of it with the original cast is currently in theaters, so if you haven't seen it yet, checking it out in this format is certainly the best way to go, since it's a spectacle that deserves to be on the big screen or witnessed live.
![]()
I'm a sucker for a good musical, and Hamilton is one of the best I've ever seen. It might be my favorite of all time, or at the very least, in my top five. There's just nothing else like it. It seamlessly blends a deeply compelling story with catchy hip-hop/R&B style tunes you'll never forget.
Hamilton just has everything you could ever want in any one project. Family, friendship, comedy, love, war, death, music, drama, and so much more. There are a million things going on at any given time, and even though politics are at the center of the story, so is the fundamental human experience with characters you can't help but root for, even when they're making all the wrong moves.
Of course, Hamilton would be nothing without the one-of-a-kind tunes that back the story, written in the signature style Lin-Manuel Miranda is known for. Some of my favorite songs of all time are from this musical, including "Wait for It" and "Satisfied," but I honestly think every single song in this show is perfect and could be my favorite on any given day. Although the songs are written specifically for the story of Hamilton, they're deeply moving, compelling, and relatable outside of it. They'll stick with you long after the curtain closes.
![]()
I'm still hoping we someday get an actual, real film adaptation of this musical. I'd love for the original cast to return, too. The filmed version is great, but I also think it would be so cool to turn it into a full-on movie production to elevate the drama and cinema even further.
If you're not sold on this idea, think about how cool a song like "Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down)" would look in this format. We'd jump around between Hamilton and his friends scattered around the world, working together to incite change. It's a song that feels like it was made for this format, and I think the rest of the show would work so well as a movie, too.
So, Destructoid, what have you been watching recently? Have you had a chance to check out Wednesday or Hamilton, or has something else been occupying your time? Let us know down in the comments so we can discuss.

When it comes to the best Weapons or Styles in Hunty Zombies it all comes down to the damage of the moves and mobility/defense. The higher ranks will have a mix of great AOE damage and dashes or iFrame moves. The lower ones are still good but lack these safety tools. I'll also show you all the weapon moves and all weapon traits. Let's analyze them all in my Hunty Zombies weapon tier list.

There's no bad weapon in the game so this Hunty Zombies weapon tier list just ranks weapons based on AOE damage, defense, flexibility and mobility. You'll notice that the higher ranks usually have a great mix of AOE damage, boss killing potential or some form of iFrames or CC. The lower tiers aren't bad, they just lack pure DPS to compete with the higher ups. Either way you get all weapons either from spins or grinding quests. Let's dive into each weapon and all moves individually below.
