Earlier this year, Microsoft laid off a lot of people and cancelled projects at various subsidiary game studios, as part of what company CEO Satya Nadella has whimsically called the "enigma of success". Elder Scrolls Online developers ZeniMax Media Online were among those making cuts - they buried an unannounced project codenamed Blackbird, which was reportedly a nimble MMO shooter of some kind. In the process, studio head Matt Firor also left the company. Unionised staff members have described the reductions as "inhumane", demoralising and counterproductive, with one worker commenting that "a lot of practical knowledge just disappeared overnight".

Now, studio game director Rich Lambert and game director Nick Giacomini have been chatting a little about where ZeniMax Online Studios is going next. They still have plenty of ideas for new game projects, apparently, but for the moment, the focus appears to be on streamlining the update process for ESO.

As our Nic conveyed earlier this year, Little Nightmares 3's coming out October 10th. That date was unaffected by Supermassive laying off up to 36 people and delaying interstellar horror Directive 8020 in July.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has launched its 1.0 version today, September 17th, ending the Vampire Survivors-like and DRG spinoff's two-year spell in early access.

Despite some initial umming and ahhing about how a comedy co-op FPS would translate into a single-player autoshooter – if I press the Rock and Stone button and nobody hears, did I say Rock and Stone? – DRG: Survivor quickly won me over, thanks in particular to the tension and horde-dodging trickery afforded by its adaptation of the original game's pickaxe mining. I've also had a little go on the 1.0 build ahead of release, and it does indeed feel like the most complete, well-tuned version yet.

My liege, I bring more tidings from Crusader Kings 3 and its Coronations DLC. After apologising for the add-on "not being up to the standard you deserve" last week, developers PDS Black have released a second patch aimed at smoothing out the edges of in-game oaths that've been causing issues.

As we reported not long after Coronations arrived, it quickly turned into another instance of Paradox rather stepping in it when it comes to DLC. Negative reception was fuelled both by technical issues with the new oaths rulers can take on ascending the throne, and the fact that the publishers were charging for features that are relatively compact, but also a pretty central aspect of any kingly lifespan.

Many moons ago, I missed my chance to join a weekly Twilight Imperium play session. Missed my chance, or dodged a bullet? It's been long enough since I last played an Ace Combat game that I can remember only two things about Ace Combat. 1) This Ace Combat 7 cutscene featuring what appears to be a wavy JPEG of a dog, which the Twitterati all thought was an exasperated animator's joke, but which I understand is actually a homage to a real staff member's dog who died before the game's release. And 2) you can 'powerslide' by wilfully initiating a stall, which I think might actually be a move from Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.

Delivery Must Complete sort of builds a whole subgenre around the thrill of powersliding planes. How does it do this? The clue is that "DMC" is also an abbreviation of "Devil May Cry". Here's a trailer. I promise you there will be no further confusing/upsetting references to dogs.

digimon godzilla t-shirt keychains

Premium Bandai will sell merchandise like keychains of the Digimon from the Godzilla and Digimon collaboration in Japan. Pre-orders will close on October 10, 2025, and they'll ship out in November 2025. It is unknown if they'll eventually appear in the English storefront as well.

The T-shirt only comes in the MetalGreymon design, and it costs 4800 JPY ($32.80). Meanwhile, the keychains have more variety. You have four to choose from, and they cost 880 JPY ($6.00) each. Your choices are MetalGreymon, SkullGreymon, WarGreymon, and Mugendramon. These Digimon don't look like they typically do in the games or anime. Instead, they're the Godzilla collaboration versions, which depict them like they're being infected by G-Cells.

As a note, since these products are available via Premium Bandai, you will need to be in Japan to access the site. It also doesn't offer international shipping. Overseas customers will need to employ a proxy service if they wish to purchase these products without waiting for resellers.

Bandai announced its collaboration with Godzilla back in March 2025. During the Digimon Con 2025 event, it unveiled the Godzilla edition of the Digimon Color toy. This toy will let you raise 34 different Digimon, including collaboration-specific ones with G-Cells. The G-Cells aren't just a design gimmick, as they affect how your Digimon evolves.

The Godzilla and Digimon merchandise are available on the Premium Bandai website, and will also appear in physical Bandai stores.

Dragon Quest Smash/Grow Is a Roguelike, Closed Beta Confirmed

Ahead of TGS 2025, Square Enix announced a new Dragon Quest mobile game. Following a tease for the title, it confirmed Dragon Quest Smash/Grow will be a roguelike with a closed beta test appearing ahead of its full release. Registration is open on September 17, 2025, and the 1.0 version will debut in 2026. That beta will then run between October 14-21, 2025.

The initial images and footage shows Dragon Quest Smash/Grow being played in portrait mode. Our avatar will be in the field, attacking enemies. At the bottom of the screen, we can see SMASH and GROW buttons. As we defeat enemies, we collect Blessings to power our characters up. We'll also use Coup de Grace attacks to wipe out large numbers of foes, with an Inferno Slash being shown in one screenshot.

Here's the first Dragon Quest Smash/Grow teaser trailer that shows its roguelike elements. It also goes over the beta test announcement.

And here are three of the first screenshots for the game. One image shows in-battle gameplay, another offers examples of Blessings, and the third shows an enemy.

Dragon Quest Smash/Grow will come to Android and Apple iOS devices in 2026, registration for the closed beta is live now, and that test will run between October 14-21, 2025

Review: Lego Voyagers Is a Pretty and Easy Game

Lego Voyagers is a very specific sort of game for a certain type of audience. It's gorgeous, with atmosphere that takes us through what feels like a post-apocalyptic type of experience as two little bricks. But at the same time, it's far shorter than I expected it to be with very little challenge and few moments that felt like it took proper advantage of having two players work together. Add in some controls that occasionally feel fiddly, and it feels like lighter fare for perhaps an older player to enjoy with a much younger one.

The story in Lego Voyagers involves only context clues and no words. Two bricks, one red and one blue, live together in matching houses on a little island. After watching a rocket launch together, they notice the vessel goes off course and crashes. The pieces that wash ashore allow the two to follow it and recover the capsule. The two journey through various environments to take off after it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1J4Zq-A6FAw

Lego Voyagers is a light platforming game that feels more about taking in what we see around us than dealing with major challenges. Our little bricks can hop and roll around environments. There will be some designated places at which they can build to cross gaps or make constructs that allow them access to other areas. At which point you need to press a button to lock to the grid or attach to a piece, then move the piece to a spot you need it and release it for a build. However, it isn't like some other Lego games in which you make actual cars or major, recognizable items. Rather, it's about getting "battery" parts to designated spots or other blocks in position to move or perhaps getting a switch flipped at the right time.

None of this is terribly challenging. Any real complication may instead come from narrowing down the timing or getting accustomed to needing to press the "lock in" B button to ensure you secure yourself when making jumps across gaps to 1x1 flowers or pieces. It feels overly complicated to control and like getting parts into place sometimes involve more steps than needed. Spoilers aside, one of the most complicated sections involved getting on a raft where each brick controlled one side of the two motors and navigating it to floating blocks with bricks we needed, then to places with three additional battery pieces for to power a later construct.

It almost made me feel that, for much of it, Lego Voyagers didn't really need two people so much? One person holds a switch so the other can cross. The person who made it across then holds a similar switch on the other side so the first can make it. One flips a switch so the partner goes flying over a gap. The player who made it across then either drops a platform by weighing it down or, again, flips a switch so the two can reunite. Even for the raft section, it felt like someone could almost manage quite a bit of it on their own.

Another disappointing element of it is, while Lego Voyagers almost feels like it could be freeform due to the gorgeous environments and creative spaces, it's really very structured. There's basically one solution to each problem and no opportunity to experiment. Places look great, but there's no reason or encouragement to explore. Since there is no structure and no words, there can also be one or two points where you need to play around to figure out "oh, okay, to advance the story I need to do this."

Which isn't to say this isn't charming. It's a short adventure that is very cute and looks great. I loved how our avatar bricks "sing" to one another if you press a button, as the action to catch your ally's attention. It's also very cute that doing so will cause the space shuttle capsule, if it is on-screen, to echo back your same note pattern. The sound direction is great in other ways as well, such as how the bricks make different little noises as they move across certain surfaces.

Lego Voyagers is a visually gorgeous game and generally pleasant, but I wish it controlled better and involved more challenging scenarios. There are some fun ideas here, and the design concepts are solid. It is absolutely cute. I'd even say it can be a relaxing way to spend an afternoon or evening. But the constant locking in while platforming, ease of difficulty, and few opportunities to really do more in the space can be discouraging.

Lego Voyagers is available for the Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, and PC.

It feels like the last few months of Game Pass have been huge, with titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong and Gears of War Remastered dropping on the service.

As always, though, some good titles are about to leave the service, so you may want to download and boot up these few titles before they leave Game Pass for good on Oct. 1.

All Xbox Game Pass departures in Sept. 2025

Here's the complete list of all the games that will no longer be part of the Xbox Game Pass after Sept. 30.

  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
  • Ninja Gaiden 3: Razer's Edge
  • Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection
  • Terra Invicta (Game Preview)

It's a shame to be losing the Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection and all of its individual titles, obviously, as they're all solid action titles. The remakes themselves are also fairly good, updating these iconic titles with some great visuals and much-needed adjustments. Still, they aren't too long, so you have a few weeks to finish them all if you have ever wanted to enjoy the ninja life.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma is a retelling of the original Ninja Gaiden, though it actually doesn't include some of the features from the previous Ninja Gaiden Black release. It has a few changes and improvements, such as the ability to fight on water and shoot arrows in mid-air.

Up next, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is an action-packed sequel that introduces a few more playable characters. You can take down enemies as Ryu, of course, but this time you can also play as Rachel, Ayane, or Momiji.

Finally, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge rounds out this trilogy and continues the adventures of Ryu, Rachel, Ayane, and Momiji. This time, players can collect Golden Scarabs and earn Karma to upgrade their characters, and even unlock new weapons and ninpo. Thankfully, you can even carry these upgrades over into subsequent playthroughs, if you're trying to beat it again on a higher difficulty.

Then, one of the other titles leaving Xbox Game Pass is Terra Invicta, a space-based strategy game with a staggering amount of depth. Described by VICE as "a super dense, terrifying child of XCOM and Crusader Kings," the game has dozens of popular reviews on Steam, with many saying they have lost hundreds of hours in the title.

A FEMA officer demanding more people are given to them

Unlike most No, I'm not a Human items that are available for a fee through the ForRest mobile service, the FEMA Notice is a free and rare item you shouldn't ignore. Strategic thinking is needed for when the time comes that a FEMA Notice ends up in your hands. Similar to the mystical cat, the FEMA Notice can help you in more ways than one, but what exactly are its uses?

Here is everything you need to know about the FEMA Notice in No, I'm not a Human.

What is a FEMA Notice in No, I'm not a Human?

FEMA Officer taking Cat Lady and Twin, telling us "we'll handle the Visitors."
Screenshot by Destructoid

The FEMA Notice appears twice in a single No, I'm not a Human playthrough. First delivered by a FEMA Officer after taking a tenant off your hands, its instructions aren't particularly clear if you're not paying close attention to the Officer's words. While you can't inspect the Notice, its usage becomes apparent when you interact with your tenants.

The purpose of the Notice is to show FEMA who should be taken to quarantine next. It's not an item you have to use, but it's particularly helpful when you're after the more complicated endings.

How to use the FEMA Notice

Handing the Cat lady a FEMA Notice
Screenshot by Destructoid

You will get the FEMA Notice in your second encounter with a FEMA Officer. The only other way to get one is by letting the burnt fireman in. This tenant almost always appears towards the middle-to-end portion of the game (day six onwards). You shouldn't haphazardly use the Notice unless you're certain who you're sending away is a Visitor; this way, you're a step closer to having only humans in the house by the 14th day. An easy target to use the Notice on is the Cat Lady, who must be let in on the fourth day if you want to unlock the basement and get the cat's help to ensure your tenants' survival each night.

The most important use for the FEMA Notice is when you need particular tenants not to be taken by FEMA (as Officers visit often). The cultists will drop by on the eighth day, where you're forced to babysit them. FEMA will demand two tenants leave with them on the 10th and 11th nights, making it difficult to keep the cultists around without being taken.

Three cultists on the sofa with a murdered Visitor on the floor in front of them
Screenshot by Destructoid

You then need a different Visitor in the house on both nights so that you can hand them a Notice (in the morning prior to FEMA's visit). It's risky to send away two Visitors in one go, as losing too many tenants to death or FEMA means the Super Imposter kills you if you're alone by the time he knocks. Therefore, two tenants who are always human should complete the Visitor-Human pair. The best picks for these are the thin man, burnt fireman, little girl, or sewn mouth (if they weren't previously taken by FEMA). Successfully protecting the cultists opens one of the 10 endings, making the FEMA Notice one of the most useful items in No, I'm not a Human.

A dark shot inside a corridor, looking at two windows, with the silhouette of a Visitor passing by outside

We all know the signs of No, I'm not a Human Visitors: Perfect white teeth, bloody gums, dirty fingernails, bloodshot eyes, rapid eye movement, clean armpits, skin irritation, and an unclean aura.

Visitors cannot kill unless there are two or more of them present at once. Some tenants won't come in unless you kick someone out. This is because their lore not only overlaps with them, but where they choose to sit is the same place as the tenant they want kicked out.

While the order of guests who knock on your door is (to an extent) randomized, there is a pattern to knowing who is and isn't a Visitor. So, if you want the best ending or are trying to complete the steps needed for a particular conclusion, then here are all No, I'm not a Human Visitors.

All Visitors in No, I'm not a Human

An abstract black and white shot of a screaming Visitor
Screenshot by Destructoid

From the 57 characters we've met in No, I'm not a Human, 44 of them could be Visitors. It's a larger number if I count each pair or set of guests individually (e.g., the twins, cultists, married couple, and mom and child duo).

What I've learnt through repeated trials is that there's a handful of tenants that may or may not be a Visitor. Their identity is randomized, likely based on who you let in before they knocked at the door, and whether there's a Visitor already staying at your house. The signs and dialogue remain the same, making it hard to tell whether members of this group are truly human or presenting genuine signs of a Visitor. Because of this, we've added a section of "Potential Visitor," where I recommend you avoid letting them in unless you need the numbers up for when FEMA comes knocking.

Below, we've separated our sections into "Guaranteed Visitor" (guests that are always Visitors), "Potential Visitor" (guests that could be a Visitor), and "Always Human." No character is named aside from the Prophet and Super Imposter. Therefore, we've added our own based on their appearance and included an image so you know who we're talking about. I will also add the telltale sign you should refer to when identifying a Guaranteed Visitor.

Guaranteed Visitor

These are the 19 Visitors that always fail the test and will always be an imposter. The Cat lady is as important as the Super Imposter as she gives you the cat. She's a Visitor you should always let in when going for most endings as the cat can help. You need to get the delivery number off the television or radio broadcasts and order cat food, feeding it to the cat so no deaths happen that night.

nun icon in No I'm not a Human Nun Armpits
headband icon in No I'm not a Human Headband Dialogue
bowtie icon in No I'm not a Human Bowtie Dialogue

Potential Visitor

This list of 12 more so includes tenants who are a danger to society. You won't know if they're a Visitor until you shoot them, as the signs are always the same when you test them. It's best to leave them outside to avoid any deaths, but some sacrifices are unfortunately needed if RNG isn't on your side. What makes them dangerous is not only that they could be a Visitor, but that they speak violently in their dialogue and have links to other tenants (who they want kicked out). These are the same characters that'll also try to bribe you if you turn them away at the door.

A good way of knowing if they're a Visitor is to let them in and stand next to the room they're staying in. If you hear whispering, groaning, or any kind of suspicious activity, then someone staying in that room is a Visitor. Don't confuse this with the little girl crying over her father (the neighbor).

You could end the game with these characters in your house and still get the No, I'm not Alone ending.

Always Human

I found these 13 characters are always human and it helps to let them in whenever they appear, giving suspected Visitors a FEMA slip so they're taken away instead.

Promo image for Skate

The Take the Plunge goal in Skate can be a bit tricky to complete since one of its tasks requires you to fly through the gaps in a bridge.

While the game has plenty of high-flying moves, they're usually performed with your skate. The task at hand, compared to those moves, has to be pulled off without a skateboard. Moreover, you'll have to pay attention to your movement in the air to complete the objective successfully.

How do you fly through the bridge supports in Skate?

The task at hand requires you to fly through the bridge supports. The first job is to travel to the top of the house, as marked on the map. Once you reach the location, you can then complete the three tasks (separately). The second of the three tasks is to fly through the bridge supports.

The Take the Plunge quests in Skate
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • To fly, first start a sprint with the LS key. This will help you gain speed before jumping into the air.
  • When in the air, press the R1/RB button to start a dive. The dive will allow you to travel over longer distances and help you reach the target location.
  • Now press R1/RB and the X/A buttons together to perform the Spread Eagle move.

When you land on the spot, you might miss the exact mark. In that case, you will aim to use the ragdoll effects and momentum to carry your body forward slightly. If you manage to fly and land in the correct locations, you'll be taken back to the starting spot.

After flying in Skate, you must hit two locations. If you miss the spot at first, keep trying until you succeed. If you hit the location and the quest doesn't track your progress, try out this fix to solve the problem. Also, ensure that the servers are operational, since that can also prevent you from successfully flying and completing the Take the Plunge goal.

A pregnant Visitor writhing in the protagonist's bed at nighttime

No, I'm not a Human is here and its endings may leave you with more questions than answers. Are Visitors real, or has the world truly gone mad from the sun's rays?

Here is how to get all No, I'm not a Human endings.

No, I'm not a Human endings guide

There are 10 endings in No, I'm not a Human. You may see some similarities in the endings from the Anthology version and demo, but most conclusions are brand new. As who approaches your door every night is randomized—mostly due to who you let in and shoot—some endings are significantly more difficult to get than others.

This article is a work in progress. Three more endings will be added soon, so stay tuned!

Yes, I'm Alone ending

The Super Imposter kicking down the front door and letting himself in
Screenshot by Destructoid

Let the Super Imposter in either by telling him you're alone when he asks or to have no tenants in the house when he appears. The Super Imposter will break in and take you into the night. The house falls into ruin now that its owner is gone.

May Death Cleanse us of Our Sins! ending

Three cultists on the sofa with a murdered Visitor on the floor in front of them
Screenshot by Destructoid

When the cult leader knocks on your door, forcing you to take in his followers, you must ensure all three survive over the next few days. Their presence is helpful as it puts the numbers up, but you cannot risk FEMA taking them away. You will fail if even one cultist is taken away.

The best way to avoid this is to send away any guest who wants to sit where a cultist resides (e.g., a woman wearing glasses and a turtleneck). You can also get a FEMA slip when they first take someone away, and another off the burnt fireman. Give these to two guests outside of the cultist bubble and try to keep the Visitor list to one tenant so that a cult member isn't killed.

The cult leader will return and invite you to join if his members survive. Accept his offer to get this ending, leaving the cosmos once and for all.

Child of Doom ending

The sex worker lying in the protagonist's bed at night
Screenshot by Destructoid

This is a strange one. I'm not entirely sure what I did to get the sex worker to approach the door. She may be a rare occurrence, behaving similar to the boy in yellow. Appearing only in my second playthrough, you must invite this character in when she knocks.

The sex worker stays in the protagonist's bed. Make sure you keep talking to her during the day and spare her life if you decide to test her. You will notice she's pregnant...but only at night. Question this and remain sure of what you saw. The following morning she will have given birth and pass in the night.

Click on the right-side curtain in the bedroom, then the ceiling fan in the office, the bowl under the bathtub, and finally, look outside the window closest to the bedroom door the following night. You are on the hunt for the baby she birthed (I'm taking responsibility, right?).

Hands holding up the Visitor/human baby hybrid
Screenshot by Destructoid

Find the baby four times and look out of every window that same night to activate this ending. The protagonist is seen as a martyr, sacrificed to stop the child of doom from destroying the Earth.

No, I'm not Alone ending

Three Visitors looking down at the camera with smiles on their faces
Screenshot by Destructoid

You have to have at least one Visitor in the house when the time comes to board-up the windows. Paranoia spreads when you move into the basement as the group counts the days on the brick walls surrounding them. Strangers-turned-friends-turned-Visitors, you're taken in the night by figures who now resemble the Super Imposter.

Wrath of the Vigilante ending

The back of the protagonist, armed, looking at wounded people crawling in the distance
Screenshot by Destructoid

All you have to do is fail the Vigilante's test to get this ending. This happens on his second or third visit. Pick any of these options to fail the test: Teeth, Armpit, or Photo. Suffering a gunshot wound, you take out the madman, but lose your mind in the process. Leaving your safety blanket, you take arms and go out into the night, ridding the world of anyone who's armed. Replacing what you just killed, in a way you became yet another Visitor.

Embrace the Inevitable ending

This is one of the most complex endings to get, as you need to work for it. The goal is to dig a hole in the basement. But there are multiple steps to reach this point. Here's everything you need to do:

  1. Watch the television during the day to get the ForRest phone number.
  2. Order x2 EnerJeka cans from ForRest on the telephone (during the day). Every number aside from FEMA's hotline is randomly generated.
  3. Make sure you let the cat lady in so the basement door unlocks.
  4. Reach the ninth night to talk to the Prophet.
  5. Go into the basement and dig on the tenth day.
  6. Show the Vigilante your eyes on the tenth night.
  7. Dig on the 11th day.
  8. Dig one more time on the 12th day and go inside the tunnel, turning right to talk to a miner.
  9. Drink an EnerJeka on the 12th.
  10. Go to the bathroom and interact with the mirror.
  11. Test your hands and clean them.
  12. Show the Vigilante your hands on the 12th night.
  13. Speak to the Prophet.
  14. Explore the tunnels under the basement and jump down into the hole the miner found.

The ending reveals the cultists were right—Death was underneath you all along.

Yes, I'm a Murderer ending

The house at night with all the doors blown off
Screenshot by Destructoid

The easiest way to get this ending is to reach the 12th day and to kill every tenant, regardless of their status. Even if you know there are only Visitors left, killing them and leaving you alone will bring the Prophet to your doorstep. This conclusion focuses on how paranoia spread and your fear for death grew, consuming the protagonist's mind.

This article is being updated with the final three endings to come.

A skater flying above the city in skate.

Missions have been a significant issue in Skate's early access build so far, and many players, including myself, have ended up in situations where they can't complete them.

This is a significant hindrance for two reasons. The missions are part of the standard progression systems, and they also allow you to understand the basics. Moreover, every mission rewards you with cosmetics and resources that also remain unavailable.

Thankfully, there are a couple of workarounds to try if you have encountered the problem.

Skate no missions not working bug fix

Typically, the bug is triggered after you complete a quest completely/partially. Instead of registering your progression, the game appears to be stuck. While you can move around and do any trick moves, the game fails to recognize the mission that you just completed. As a result, you're also locked out from obtaining the rewards.

There are potentially two ways to fix the problem.

Players making a skill move with their board in Skate
Screenshot via EA

  • Press the D-pad up button and hold it for a couple of seconds. This will take you to the mission marker. You can then redo the entire quest. This is slightly problematic, but it can fix the problem on most occasions. You won't have to restart your game.
  • The other solution is to restart the game after logging out. When you start the game again, you'll receive the correct quest progression and rewards. This is the better thing to do if the quest that you completed was challenging in the first place. It's better to launch a fresh instance of the game than to redo the entire quest. This will automatically fix your mission progression, and you can continue to the next one.

If both solutions fail, I am afraid that the only other solution for you is to redo the entire mission. However, this has never happened (I have always opted for the first method, and it works like a charm), so the chances of encountering it are pretty low.

Sometimes, the mission progression might not save due to the server situation inside the game. On such occasions, it's better to try again after some time, when the servers are stable and working as intended.

Promo image for Skate

The early access build of Skate is now available for PC and console users. You can fine-tune the in-game settings to get a smooth experience on your desktop (or laptop).

Given that the launch has been in early access, there are rough edges here and there. The server performance has improved since the first hour, and that has made it easier for more players to join in. However, you'll want to ensure as minimal lag as possible to execute those tricks to perfection.

Best tips and tricks for smooth gameplay in Skate

Compared to the console version of the game, there are more graphic settings to tweak. While I have mentioned the best settings you can use for minimal lag in the section below, there are a few basics to clear out first.

  • Update your graphics drivers: Unless you have processed an update recently, chances are that your native graphics driver has received an update. This is applicable to both Nvidia and AMD devices. You can update them using their native app, which automatically detects and downloads the latest version. Once done, simply install the updated files, and this should take care of minor stutters or optimization issues.
  • Disable V-Sync: This is only required for those on relatively older hardware. Doing so will free resources in other areas, allowing you to enjoy better gameplay.

Once you have completed these basics, you'll want to set the best settings to get smooth gameplay.

Best Skate graphics settings

Here are the graphics settings that I have been using in the early access build. For clarity, my setup runs an AMD Ryzen 5600G, Nvidia RTX 3060 12 GB GPU, and 16 GB of DDR5 RAM.

Default graphics settings for Skate
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Window Mode: Borderless Fullscreen
  • V-Sync: Off
  • Brightness: Personal preference
  • Dynamic Resolution: Off
  • Upscaling: XeSS/FSR (if required)
  • Anti-Aliasing: Not localized
  • Global Graphics Quality: Medium
  • Texture Filtering: Medium
  • Texture Quality: Medium
  • Global Illumination: Static
  • Static Global Illumination Quality: Medium
  • Lighting Quality: Medium
  • Shadow Quality: Low
  • Mesh Quality: Low
  • Visual Effects Quality: Medium
  • Post Processing: Medium
  • Ambient Occlusion Quality: High
  • Depth of Field Quality: Low
  • Motion Blur Quality: Off

As of writing this guide, there's no option to cap/customize the max FPS, but the settings should be more than enough to get you smooth gameplay. You can also turn the Global Graphics settings to Low instead of Medium on older hardware to get better results.
