Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, March 13, 2026 11:55 AM No. I, your dad, haven't bought you any Christmas presents. No, that isn't the wry smile of deceit you see nestled on my face. Yes, technically I could tell you that I haven't bought you any Christmas presents without that being a lie if, in fact, I knew that your mum was buying all of your Christmas presents, while I'm paying for some other bill we need to settle. No, I'm not going to go and get her so that you can specifically ask her whether she's bought you any Christmas presents. Why? Sorry, my lips are sealed. Perhaps, though, you should consider that I may simply not fancy expending the effort. That, in an overly wordy nutshell, is how a social media interaction CD Projekt had the other day played out. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, March 13, 2026 11:51 AM Now that we're about, ooh, six decades into the existence of PC mice, it's become apparent that they don't need a dedicated little screen to feed us stats about them, at all times. Nevertheless, I'm quite fond of the baby display that comes with the QPAD Mark Model 3. Just because it won't actively help me click on xenobugs in Deep Rock Galactic doesn't mean I'd rather stay ignorant of how much battery I've got left, or that mashing the DPI button and eyeballing cursor speed is somehow preferable to just having that sensitivity setting on a readout. Given the closest thing that most mice have to an interface is a single flashing LED, the Model 3's screen – which also acts as its wireless dongle – is bordering on futuristic. Almost. |

HoYoVerse went over the 4.1 Honkai: Star Rail update in the March 13, 2026 Special Program, and it confirmed the release date and its new and returning characters. The patch goes live on March 25, 2026. The new Planarcadia storyline also features an Astral Express Fest that is a celebration of the Trailblazer's adventures.
There is one new unit in the 4.1 Honkai: Star Rail update and it seems there will only be two rerun banners for characters this time. During the first half of the update, which starts right after the patch drops, people can pull for new Hunt and Lightning character Ashveil and returning Remembrance and Wind healer Hyacine. In the second part of the update, Boothill will be back as the focus unit.
In terms of events, there are mainline and side stories to go through. The new Trailblaze Missions continue the Planarcadia saga, with the Astral Express being the focus of the new Lookout Cloud Station location and Pearluxe Tower. There will also be Pom-Pom inspired enemies like Alloy Mechatron: King Pom-Pom and Alloy Pommy. Free Warps will be given away as a login bonus, there will be a Wispae War Saga activity, and Divergent Universe: Arcadian Chronicles will come up with City of Converging Stars and Punklorde Stage Zero Planar Ornaments.

The Beastmaster Limited Job appeared for the first time in the FFXIV Letter from the Producer Live XCI, and it will function similarly to the class in past Final Fantasy games. The initial statement confirmed it won't immediately be part of 7.5 Part 1, and instead will appear for players later in the 7.5x series.
As the name suggests, someone who takes on the FFXIV Beastmaster Limited Job will be able to attack with monsters. This will be a melee DPS class that uses a one-handed axe for attacks not performed with its beasts. As it will be limited, its level cap will be 50. We'll only be able to start to pursue it once it appears and start the role at level 1, and its job quests will show up at launch. There will be up to 50 monsters to catch, which you must find, fight, and weaken to catch. FFXIV Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida also confirmed you can do this on your own, as one of the slides during the announcement stated, "All beasts can be captured through solo play." Once you do have monsters, you can have them walk with you, and up to three can be around at once in a fight. There will also be a dedicated Crucible of the Unbroken Duty specifically for Beastmasters to go into alone with their up-to-three monsters.
While there still is time before it appears, Yoshida already explained how to unlock the Beastmaster in the game. You'll need to already have a Disciple of War or Magic job (like Arcanist, Archer, Blue Mage, Conjurer, Dancer, Reaper, or Pictomancer) at a minimum of level 50. You must own the Dawntrail expansion. Fnally, you need to have finished the 2.0 Main Scenario Questline.
Here are some of the initial official Beastmaster screenshots from the official Final Fantasy social media account.
The Beastmaster has been part of Final Fantasy since FFV and appeared in spin-offs, though it sometimes showed up under a different name like with the Trainer Dressphere in FFX-2.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the 7.5 Part 1 patch release date is April 28, 2026.

The 7.5 Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer Live XCI (91) aired today, and Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida and Global Community Producer Toshio "Foxclon" Murouchi shared the release date for when Part 1 will be in FFXIV and a release window for part 2. The first part shows up on April 28, 2026. There will be a long gap between these two updates to the MMORPG, so the second part will arrive in "early" September 2026. There will also be follow up Letter from the Producer Live presentations to cover additions.
While there isn't a full roadmap noting when different elements and additions, so we don't know if some will appear right when 7.5 Part 1 launches or if some will be part of 7.51 or 7.52, here's a quick list of what to expect in the order they were announced:
Here is the full Letter from the Producer Live XCI on YouTube.

Disney Afternoon Collection suddenly coming to the Switch and Switch 2 almost 10 years after its PS4, Xbox One, and PC release felt a little weird! I mean, it's packed with NES games. Now it is here with two additions. The SNES games Bonkers and Goof Troop bring the total number of titles up to eight and add some next-gen adventures to the compilation. While the best entries were already part of the group, the two latest additions still have their moments.
Bonkers
Let's start with Bonkers! It's based on the show of the same name about a bobcat cop that couldn't make it as an actor. In the show, he'd work alongside Detective Piquel to solve crimes related to Disney properties. Now, I remember actually seeing the show and… it wasn't great? (Turns out it only ran for two seasons!) Likewise, the game is somewhat mediocre. You follow Bonkers as he chases a thief who stole items tied to some famous Disney movies.
You need to run through stages, using things like bombs to fight foes or eat donuts (cause he's a cop) to heal. There's a boss after each stage, which consists of baddies like a ghost possessing items like a vacuum cleaner or Wooly and Bully on the set of a movie dropping bombs and trash from the rafters until you can eliminate the lights they're standing on and defeat them.
It's okay, once you get the hang of Bonkers' dash. It's definitely one of the easier titles in the collection, once you do get accustomed to it, with the boss fights in particular being really simple and relatively quick.
Goof Troop
Of the two new additions, Goof Troop is unquestionably the better of the two. It's still incredibly easy, but it's novel in that it isn't a typical platformer like the other games in Disney Afternoon Collection. It follows Goofy and his son Max as they explore different areas to save Pete and his son PJ from pirates when the two pairs went on vacation together. Apparently, Pete looks exactly like Keelhaul Pete, the missing pirate captain swallowed by the whale. Both the Goof Troop cartoon and A Goofy Movie film are honestly pretty great, so right at the start we get strong source material.
Goof Troop takes a little inspiration from the original The Legend of Zelda, in terms of its perspective and use of puzzles, tools like grappling hooks, and bombs to attack enemies. You need to work your way around an island and visit different locations there, dealing with pirates along the way. What makes it especially unusual is that it really benefits from being played cooperatively with another person. I found it was a little bit cumbersome at some parts, since it'd be quicker to solve some later area puzzles or situations after the haunted mansion with someone else's assistance, but it's generally a pretty easy game with familiar characters that feels like a change of pace from what else the Switch and Switch 2 releases of Disney Afternoon Collection offer.
Disney Afternoon Collection is available for the Switch and Switch and include the newly added games Bonkers and Goof Troop. The collection is also on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

One of Marathon's selling points is that it's a tough PvP experience, but that could be hurting it in the long run, even for players who enjoy the game despite its difficulty.
A lot of Bungie's marketing around its new extraction shooter is that it's tough. "Escape Will Make Me God," "Death is The First Step," etc. And with those deaths is supposed to come lessons, and gradual improvement over time.
But some lesser skilled players are feeling the pain, even with many hours logged into the game, struggling to progress while getting outplayed or outnumbered by better teams of gamers across Marathon's multiple maps and scenarios.
"I'm level 43 in Marathon and I swear every match feels like I'm being thrown against sweaty pro Twitch streamers," one player said in a March 12 Reddit post. "I'm not exaggerating—I lose almost every PvP encounter instantly. I've got no credits, no decent weapons, and I'm stuck running free kits because I literally can't progress."
This particular person said that they "want to enjoy the game so badly, but right now it feels like I'm being punished for even trying," and I feel their pain. I'm a solo player, too, and I either queue solo or with random teammates and hope for the best. Results vary wildly.
In spite of this, I am enjoying Marathon quite a bit, but I could easily see that changing if struggles mount, loot continues to be drained from my vault as opposed to adding to it, and progression stalls.
"What's killing me is that I love the lore, the world, the atmosphere… everything about this game on paper is exactly my thing," the Reddit post continued. "But in practice? I can't actually play it. I load in, get deleted, lose what little I had, repeat. It feels like Bungie didn't put much thought into players who aren't cracked at PvP or who just don't have the reflexes of a competitive shooter player."
The Reddit thread was filled with players offering tips, like to use better positioning, be a bit stealthier, use good headphones to listen to the game's sound cues intently, play as Rook to replenish your vault, etc. And there were also quite a few gamers who admitted that they were getting older and don't really have the same hand-eye coordination or reflexes they used to, and are getting punished for it.
I think the unfortunate truth about Marathon is that it just may not be the game to play for those who aren't proficient in PvP, and that stinks for people who enjoy the game elsewise. But for now, it feels like that's by design.
"This is the downfall of Marathon, a huge amount of potential for fun and exciting gameplay but people don't wanna give it a try so we're stuck with a majority of sweats wiping lobbies," another gamer said. "Unfortunately for you guys, I am absolutely cracked and have stacked up a considerable amount of good loot, and will continue to do so. When you're an absolute beast at the game, it is super fun and engaging/addicting."
Marathon is extremely niche in this regard, because it does cater to those who excel at PvP, meaning a good majority of players will be scared away. What this means for the game's longevity is still to be decided, but if the player population ends up diluting into just the sweatiest of sweats, that could make for a sour experience for everyone.

There are already over 50 characters who call the valley home in Disney Dreamlight Valley, with more arriving consistently every month or so. The village is already quite vast, but DDV sees new updates fairly frequently, with plenty more planned to arrive in 2026.
Knowing who is on their way can be helpful if you're looking to set up a spot for them to live ahead of time. It's also nice to know what there is to look forward to, so you can see whether your favorite characters are arriving in the village anytime soon. If you're eager to learn about what's coming next, here's the roadmap for all planned Disney Dreamlight Valley updates in 2026 so far.
Table of contents
All planned Disney Dreamlight Valley updates for 2026
There are three confirmed DDV updates for the first half of 2026 so far, one of which has been released so far. We'll get more details about them as they approach release, and a fresh roadmap will be launched once we're mostly through everything this one entails. Here's a full breakdown of everything we know about the updates arriving in 2026.
Spring 2026 Pocahontas update in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The next update arriving for DDV, and the second planned one for 2026, is Pocahontas themed. The teaser for this one says, "Discover the beauty of nature alongside a free-spirited adventurer." Pocahontas's signature necklace is sitting on the ground next to a raccoon and some swirling leaves, highlighting that she's the star of this update.
She's the only confirmed character, and there aren't many others from her film who feel like a good fit for the valley, so it's likely we'll only see her in this update. We might also see a new Realm in this update.
With Pocahontas's arrival in 2026, we'll officially have all the Disney princesses except for Raya. This update is debuting sometime in Spring 2026, likely around late March or sometime in April. Since the Puppy Love update launched in February, April looks more likely for this one, as updates usually happen every other month.
Summer 2026 Hercules update in Disney Dreamlight Valley
We've already got Hades in the valley with The Storybook Vale DLC, but the world of Hercules is expanding with the Summer 2026 update. This update is certain to include the titular protagonist himself and likely at least one other character. Depending on when the Pocahontas update drops, this one may be released in June or July. As long as things stay on the same usual schedule, June seems most likely for it.
The teaser for this one says we'll "embark on a mythological adventure," which likely means that it comes with a new Realm to explore. The image featured here is a statue of Phil the satyr next to Hercules' signature sandals. In the 2025 showcase stream, the devs also mentioned stepping "into a world of myths" to "discover real courage, strength, and perseverance."
We usually get a maximum of two new characters in updates, so it's likely we'll see either Megara or Phil join the valley as the second update character. Meg is a bit more of a main character, so I suspect she'll be the one to arrive with Hercules, but the statue featured in the teaser is of Phil, so it could go either way. Hercules feels like a guarantee, but as for who will join him, we'll just have to wait and see.
New roadmap, more updates, and new DLC
We only have a look at the first chunk of 2026 so far, but based on past update schedules, we can expect to get at least one or two more roadmaps for additional content that's releasing afterwards. A fresh roadmap will likely be released sometime in the summer, as this is as far as the current one goes.
Based on past years of DDV, we can likely expect at least three more major updates throughout the year. There will also likely be a new paid expansion, similar to Wishblossom Ranch and The Storybook Vale, launching in the back half of the year, as has been the case with the past DLCs.
As for who and what else might come in these updates and additional paid content add-ons, we don't really have any solid hints to work off just yet. The only small hint we've gotten so far occurred at the end of the Wishblossom Ranch DLC, which showed a red balloon floating through Hunny Falls as Winnie the Pooh's voice says, "Oh, bother!" This means Winnie the Pooh is definitely in the works, but when and how he's scheduled to arrive is unknown.
Another character who may arrive later this year is Ralph from Wreck-It Ralph, as he's the only character featured in the original trailers for DDV that hasn't arrived yet. Cinderella was one, too, but she finally made her way to the valley in the last update of 2025, so perhaps it's finally time for Ralph to join his best buddy, Vanellope, in the valley.
All upcoming characters in Disney Dreamlight Valley
As of the time of writing, there are at least three characters expected to be arriving in the valley throughout the first half of 2026. None of these villagers has been officially confirmed, but the clues we've gotten can only point to a few individuals, so we do at least have a general idea of what to expect. As any further details emerge teasing who is arriving next, we'll add them here.
All released updates for Disney Dreamlight Valley in 2026
As updates are released throughout the year for DDV, we'll add them here so you can keep up with all important new features. Here's a breakdown of every update that's been released in 2026 so far.
While you wait for the 2026 updates to arrive, there's lots to get done around the valley. If you're not sure what to do, you might work on cooking all Wishblossom Ranch recipes, changing your Dream Castle skin cooking a fairly fancy dinner, and re-rolling duties.

It's been a long time coming, but Chapter Seven, season one of Fortnite is finally about to end, with the release of season two drawing near. If you're eager to start exploring an updated island with plenty of exciting changes, you'll want to know exactly when this update will be out.
Fresh seasonal updates are by far the most exciting ones, as they bring new locations, loot, quests, characters, skins, cosmetics, and so much more to the island. You won't want to miss out on a single second of the action, so here's the exact time and date when Fortnite Chapter Seven, season two starts.
Table of contents
Fortnite Chapter 7, season 2 release date
Fortnite Chapter Seven, season two, is officially slated to begin on Thursday, March 19. The season one battle pass ends on March 18, and the game will then head into downtime before coming back with a bunch of new content for season two.
Although an exact launch time hasn't been officially revealed, the teaser videos posted on the Fortnite YouTube page all have a countdown at the end, and if it's accurate for the actual start time, Chapter Seven, season two should go live at 6am CT. This is also roughly the same time most past seasons have gone live, barring any unexpected issues during downtime, so it's a fairly reliable time. If this doesn't end up being the right time, the season is still expected to release fairly close to it.
Downtime will begin quite a bit before this, likely around 3am CT based on past update schedules. When downtime is active, you won't be able to play at all, as the game will be undergoing maintenance and updates to usher in the new season.
Fortnite Chapter 7, season 2 features
The name of Chapter Seven, season two is Showdown, and all of the promotional teasers and buildup for it have centered around a confrontation between The Foundation, the leader of The Seven, and The Ice King. This season is all about rivals and clashes between opposing characters.
As all seasons do, this one will feature a new battle pass packed with Outfits, Back Blings, Pickaxes, Gliders, Contrails, and other such items to unlock. The item shop is also sure to get some new waves of items, including fresh collaborations, original skins, additional Sidekicks, and more.
How long is Fortnite Chapter 7, season 2?
At the time of writing, Chapter Seven, season two is slated to run for 79 days, ending on June 6. The length of seasons is often changed as they progress, though, so there's a chance this one may be shortened or extended later on. The easiest way to keep up with how much longer is left in a season is by checking the active battle pass, as it always ends one day before the season does.
While you wait for season two to arrive, there are lots of quests worth wrapping up around the island. To ensure you get as much XP as possible and learn what's going on in the main storyline before season one ends, be sure to check off key missions like checking in with The Order or The Visitor about the base, helping Hope forge an alliance with The Elites, hunting down signs of The Seven, and listening to The Visitor's ship log and hear his reunion with The Order.

Hope is trying to form an alliance with The Elites in Fortnite, but she can't do it on your own, which is where you come in. One of the key missions you need to tackle in this quest series is to talk to Hope about recruiting The Elites.
Chatting with characters is generally fairly easy as long as you're up to date with the latest missions, but tracking them down around the vast island is a trickier task. Hope is one of the more difficult NPCs to find, so if you're having trouble working through this quest, here's how to talk to Hope about recruiting The Elites in Fortnite.
Hope location in Fortnite
Hope can be found at Classified Canyon near the southeast corner of the island. She hangs out in a small building situated near the upper left corner of this area. There are quite a few different buildings to explore at this main POI, and four different NPCs wandering around it, so to pinpoint where she is, look for the one that has a giant helipad on top. This building is slightly northwest of the massive triangular one right in the center of the area.
Hope's exact location is also marked with a chat box icon on your mini map once you're in the right area. While some NPCs wander around their spawn area quite a bit, she doesn't, so you can always find her somewhere inside this small building area. Hope also isn't an NPC that can be hired by other players and is instead just a quest figure, so you never have to worry about her taking off.
Talk to Hope about recruiting The Elites in Fortnite
To complete the talk to Hope about recruiting The Elites quest, you need to meet up with and chat with Hope after completing at least six of her quests. Once you're ready to talk to her for this mission, approach her at Classified Canyon, interact with her, and select "The Elites" dialogue option.
If you're not caught up with all key quests, she may have quite a few different chat options available, so make sure you choose the right one at this point. Selecting any of the other available dialogue options won't get you through this quest, so precision is crucial here.
You get a whopping 12,000 XP for simply talking to Hope in this mission, so it's certainly one that's worth checking off before the season ends. It's also decently important for the main storyline, so be sure to tackle this one when you get a chance.
After completing this quest, there's still plenty of work to get done around the island. If you're unsure what to work through next, consider hunting down signs of The Seven, checking in with The Order or The Visitor about the base, registering for Save the World, and using Treasure Cannons to collect items for the base.
