Crimson Desert Developer Clarifies The Game Is Not A New MMORPG
Last year saw the surprise reveal of Crimson Desert. The game was unveiled with an impressive looking trailer filled with what appeared to be some actual gameplay with a release time frame of the end of this year. Still, overall, details are scarce about the game. Two developer commentary videos was released shortly after the reveal, but there's still lots of question, especially about the multiplayer aspect. Pearl Abyss is also responsible for the ongoing MMORPG Black Desert and some have wondered if this will be a successor of sorts to that as the game is confirmed to have online functionality. Well, it seems that isn't the case.
Thegamer spoke with Pearl Abyss America CEO Jeonghee Jin, and he bluntly gave the answer that no, the game was not a new MMORPG. He didn't really go into anymore details than that about what online functions the title would have, but did also promise that Crimson would not impact the ongoing development of Black Desert.
"Black Desert and Crimson Desert are two separate projects. The Crimson Desert announcement has had little impact on Black Desert development. Black Desert devs still continue updating content with the same cadence and they're very much focused on the community's feedback. Also, as we don't define Crimson Desert as an MMORPG – which Black Desert is – so we've set different benchmarks and goals for the two titles."
Crimson Desert was announced to release for Winter 2021. As of now, no platforms for the game has been announced, though the presumption at this point is it will most likely be for PC and next gen consoles.
Path of Exile – Next League Targeting Early to Mid-April for Release
Grinding Gear Games' next big league for free to play action RPG Path of Exile is coming soon-ish. Community manager Bex revealed on Twitter that an official release for patch 3.14.0 hadn't been announced but early to mid-April is "still the timeline." The launch date should be confirmed "some time next week most likely."
The current league, Ritual, launched in January alongside Echoes of the Atlas, a major new expansion to the end-game. The latter added new Atlas Passive Points for additional rewards in certain activities while introducing new multi-boss fights along with The Maven as a new super-boss. Such was the expansion's success that it led to a new all-time player peak of 157,103.
Though the developer hasn't revealed the next league's mechanics, it did outline changes coming to Harvest. Its crafting system was added to the core game with Echoes of the Atlas and will be seeing some nerfs in patch 3.14.0. You can read more about it in the recent Development Manifesto, though suffice to say that the community is divided on these changes. Stay tuned for more details on the patch in the meantime.
We haven't announced the official date just yet. Early-mid April is still the timeline and we'll confirm the launch date publicly some time next week most likely.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 – Zero Crisis Finale is Now Live
A new season of Fortnite Chapter 2 is upon us. Season 6: Primal is currently available and kicks off in epic circumstances. As revealed in the Zero Crisis cinematic trailer, Agent Jonesy confers with the Seven to stop the Zero Point from imploding. Which is easier said than done when there's chaos, Terminators and Xenomorphs everywhere.
The trailer sets up the battle royale title's first single-player experience – Zero Point Finale – which is currently live for all players. Expect more details on map changes, new content additions and more later today. A new battle pass with several new cosmetics to earn should also be going live.
Fortnite is currently available for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Android. It's come a long way since first launching in September 2017. The previous season witnessed a number of different guest characters, from Halo's Master Chief and God of War's Kratos to Street Fighter's Ryu and Chun-Li.
Disco Elysium Developer on the IP's Future – "The Future Holds More of Elysium"
Disco Elysium wasn't a known quantity until not that long ago, but immediately upon launch, ZA/UM's excellent RPG took the industry by storm, wowing one and all with its immaculate quality. The developer is going to capitalize on that success soon by releasing an even more fleshed out version of the game (and for more platforms) with Disco Elysium – The Final Cut. And it seems there's more in store in the future for the property.
When asked about whether the developer has any future plans for the Disco Elysium property given how successful the game has been on both a critical and commercial level, though lead writer Helen Hindpere obviously did not go into the specifics, she did suggest that ZA/UM intends to dive deeper into the rich universe they have created with this game.
"The future holds more of Elysium – we've spent years designing the world and we're not ready to leave yet," said Hindpere. "Martinaise is just a slice of Revachol – and Revachol just a single capital among many others. Who knows where the future will take us?"
Disco Elysium is currently available for PC and Mac. Disco Elysium: The Final Cut launches for PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, and Stadia later this month (the release date is likely going to be announced very soon), while it will also be coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch later this year.
Our full interview with Hindpere will be going live soon, so stay tuned for that.
The Day Before Developer is Considering PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Versions
Fntastic and MyTona's upcoming The Day Before has caught the attention of many with its impressive debut trailer, and from its impressive visuals to its open world post-apocalyptic survival framework, there's a lot about it that looks promising in these early stages. Given that, it's not surprising that many are looking forward to getting their hands on the game, but with The Day Before currently only confirmed for PC, there are many who have wondered whether it will arrive for other platforms as well.
In a recent interview, we asked Fntastic co-founders Ed and Aisen Gotovtsev whether they have any plans to bring The Day Before to consoles. As per the duo, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S releases for the game is something the developer is looking into.
"We will not be able to port the game to your NES, but we are considering the next-gen consoles," they said. "Wait for a special announcement."
Meanwhile, if you're skeptical about whether or not the game will actually end up looking as good as its debut trailer suggested- when asked about the same, Ed and Aisen Gotovtsev told us that the final product is going to be even better. Read more on that through here.
The Day Before is due out some time later this year for PC. Our full interview with its developers will be live soon, so stay tuned for that.
Undertale is Out Today for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S
Toby Fox's seminal RPG Undertale is, without the shadow of a doubt, one of the best indie games to have been released, well, ever, and since its launch a few years ago, the game has gradually been made available across a number of platforms, opening the doors for the game to be enjoyed by more and more people. Notably enough, however, the game hadn't ever been brought over to Xbox- until now.
In a surprise announcement, it was recently confirmed that Undertale is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. When exactly? Well, that's the surprise- it's out today. On top of that, the game has also been added to the Xbox Game Pass library on Xbox, so subscribers can jump into the game right away (and you definitely should, if you have yet to play the game).
Undertale is available now on- well, just about every active platform out there (and PS Vita), including Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and, of course, PC.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a divisive game among the Zelda fanbase, and though there are many, many reasons for that, one of the ones that stands out is the game's focus on motion controls. Eschewing traditional button controls and leveraging the Wii's waggle controls fully, the game put the Wii Remote to full use in everything from combat to flight controls.
The upcoming Switch remaster, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, will give players the option to opt for an alternate control scheme where motion controls are instead assigned to the right analog stick. But if you do decide to stick with the game's original motion controls setup, you're still going to be in for a better, smoother experience- or so says Nintendo, at least. The Big N recently took to Twitter to confirm that the game's upcoming Switch remaster will feature "smoother and more intuitive" motion controls than the original Wii release.
Skyward Sword on the Wii could often be hampered by moments of the motion controls being unresponsive or inaccurate, so it's quite a relief that the Switch remaster is going to try and iron out those issues (or so it seems, anyway).
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD launches for the Switch on July 16.

Deathloop Gameplay Trailer Showcases Various Weapons
Arkane Studios' Deathloop has a new gameplay trailer courtesy of Game Informer as part of its March 2021 cover story. The focus is on the weapons that Colt wields to assassinate his targets on Blackreef isle and there's some pretty decent variety to be had. Check it out below.
Along with the Machete, there's the PT-6 'Spiker' which serves as a decent stealth weapon. The Rapier is a single shot rifle good for long-distance shots while the Heritage lever-action gun provides some mid-range stopping power. The LIMP-10 is an SMG that vaguely resembles the Škorpion vz. 61 while the Vopat Trencher serves as a pump-action shotgun.
Of course, you also have the Four-Pounder which seems equivalent to a Desert Eagle (and can be dual-wielded). A variety of gadgets and powers, from a deployable turret to lifting up foes, can also be seen in the trailer. Deathloop is set to release on May 21st for PS5, where it will be exclusive for one year, and PC. Stay tuned for more gameplay in the coming weeks.
Monster Hunter Rise Is Reportedly Out In The Wild With Spoilers And Details Leaking Out
One of the most anticipated games of 2021 will be out later this month in Monster Hunter Rise. This will be the second game in the series after Monster Hunter World took the franchise to levels untold. Capcom has been in the process of marketing the hunting action in the game, and it also has its second demo out now. Unfortunately, it seems as if the game is out there a bit early.
Multiple reports from people online, specifically at the game's official subreddit, have popped up to state that the game has shipped early from Amazon. There are videos out there, and plenty of spoilers and details about what monsters are featured and the overall structure of the game and fights.
Monster Hunter has never been a story heavy series, but no doubt, there are still those who want to experience things for themselves. We won't be covering any of that here, but if you want to avoid as much as possible, then you may want to stay away from Monster Hunter content until the official release.
Monster Hunter Rise will officially release on March 26th for Nintendo Switch, with a PC version planned for next year.
The Outer Worlds – New Update Seems To Have Added 60 FPS Enhancement On PS5, Xbox Series X
The Outer Worlds is planned to conclude its debut saga with the next expansion, Murder on Eridanos. The game was a success, and now with Obsidian under Microsoft, rumors are flying that a second game is already in pre-production. However, it seems that in preparation for the new expansion and the first game's grand finale, there is a big update out of nowhere for those playing on new consoles.
An update released today, 1.0.7, and as you can see reported below, apparently it added 60 FPS to playing the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X. There was no announcement of this beforehand, nor have any official patch notes been released, so it's unknown if there is anything else hidden here. There also do not seem to be any reports of the same addition to those playing on Series S. We'll keep you updated on when something official is announced.
The Outer Worlds is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. Murder on Eridanos will be available for all of those platforms, excluding the Switch, on March 17th. The expansion will come to Nintendo's platform at a later, as of now undetermined, date.
With todays game update in preparation for the final Expansion 'Murder on Eridanos' (releasing March 17), The Outer World by XGS Obsidian now runs at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X (no info on Series S yet).
