     How to install Windows 11

Installing an operating system onto your rig isn't exactly riveting, but it's a vital part of any gaming PC experience. Not only does an OS enable us to play the latest Steam games and ingest memes on the internet, but it dictates exactly what kind of experience your computer can provide. While there are a few software options available that cater to the needs of gamers, like Valve's Linux based SteamOS, the average user is likely wondering how to install Microsoft Windows 11.

Windows 11 hasn't quite replaced Windows 10 yet, but its popularity is growing, and more users are installing the upgrade on their existing gaming laptops and PCs. If you're already rocking a Windows 10 machine, then making the jump won't feel like that big of a deal. If you're still clinging onto a copy of Windows 7, however, or you're looking for something to load onto a blank SSD, the process might feel a bit daunting.

Arming a PC with the latest version of Windows isn't complicated, but there are a few things to consider before you dive in. For starters, you could run into compatibility issues if you pair the OS with unsupported hardware, and your chosen device won't be eligible for updates. Shiny new versions of Windows also typically come packed with quirks and bugs, so you should brace yourself for some early adopter turbulence.

Total War: Warhammer is Epic's next free game

It's Thursday, and you know what that means – another round of free PC games from the Epic Games Store. This week, you can grab the occult pinball game Demon's Tilt, and as ever, Epic has revealed next week's freebies, too. Total War: Warhammer may be the first one to grab your attention, but you're also getting a first-person action adventure game that's inspired by Arabian Nights called City of Brass.

You'll be able to grab Total War: Warhammer and City of Brass from the usual Epic Games Store promotion page on Thursday, March 31 at 8am PST / 11am EST / 4pm BST. It'll be there for one full week, at which point it'll be replaced by another freebie. As always, you'll 'purchase' the game at a price of zero dollars, and it'll remain in your library just like any game you might pay money for.

Total War: Warhammer 3 released to a solid reception earlier this year, though some players have had issues. We've seen a few fixes from Creative Assembly so far, with an alt-tab crash fix current in beta on Steam. If you fancy a burst of nostalgia, though, you can't go wrong with the strategy game that kicked off the trilogy.

Exclusive deal: 83% off Private Internet Access VPN

Internet privacy's a big deal, and using a VPN is one of the best ways you can protect yourself online. VPNs can help keep your digital footsteps covered by encrypting your connection and keeping you anonymous, while also letting you access exclusive content from different regions. If you've always considered getting one, Private Internet Access is offering PCGamesN readers 83% off its VPN service, along with an additional three months free.

In addition to built-in ad-blocking software, Private Internet Access follows a strict no logs policy, meaning that your data won't be stored anywhere. They also allow for split-tunnelling, so you can have one window running with the VPN on, while another uses your native connection. This could allow you to access internet content from multiple regions at the same time.

In the unlikely event that the VPN should go down, even for a split second, there's a kill switch in place to sever your connection and prevent cookie vultures from swooping in to gobble up data. Of course, the service also comes with 24/7 customer support, so there'll always be someone at hand if anything goes wrong.

Hearthstone card reveal – meet Coilskar Commander

The Voyage to the Sunken City is nearly upon us, so we've got another Hearthstone card reveal for you. The first expansion of the year takes us to the lost city of Zin-Azshari, which used to belong to Night Elves before it sank to the bottom of the sea. To survive their new conditions, the Night Elves had develop snake-like attributes. This process transformed them into powerful, magical creatures called the Naga who aren't afraid to attack anyone that dares invade their land.

To match the underwater theme of the expansion, two new sunken-related keywords are being added to the card game: Dredge and Colossal. Dredge allows you to look at the bottom three cards of your deck, giving you the chance to add one to your hand. Meanwhile, Colossal gives legendary minions the ability to occupy multiple spaces on the board once they're summoned.

The Naga has been part of previous Hearthstone expansions in the past, but Voyage to the Sunken City finally gives the race its own tribe tag. Our third and final Hearthstone card reveal displays the power of Naga minions as they harness spell energy to unleash a mighty effect.

GTA Online weekly update leaves fans underwhelmed

It's Thursday, folks, and that means it's time for GTA Online's weekly update. We didn't get one last week as GTA V's Expanded & Enhanced version released. Regular service has resumed, though, so fans are jumping into Los Santos to see what's new before Rockstar Games posts the official rundown on the Newswire later today.

There are a few things to check out, though it looks like slim pickings this week. The GTA podium vehicle is the Torero, while the GTA prize ride is the Sentinel XS, which you earn by finishing in the top five of two pursuit races. If you're looking for more dosh, Rockstar is doubling the rewards for the Double Down adversary mode and Martin Madrazo contract missions for the next week. Tipster Tez2 also reports that console players can test ride the Cyclone 2 or get double the experience points and in-game cash on HSW races.

Tez2 also notes that "odd changes" are likely to be reversed soon. The nightclub safe's capacity is back to 250k on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, though it remains at 210k on PS5 and Xbox Series S. The max payout on specialist contacts is now 75k on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but still 70k elsewhere. The West Coast Classics and Radio Los Santos stations are also only playing new songs on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

     Tiny Tina's Wonderlands weapons guide

Want to know more about the weapons in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands? Tiny Tina is back with the follow up to the Borderlands 2 DLC, Assault on Dragon Keep. This standalone adventure is set within the world of a tabletop fantasy game controlled by Tiny Tina herself, so you can expect plenty of wacky situations to occur at any time.

As you should expect from a Borderlands game, there are plenty of weapon types to pick from in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, along with their own rarities and elemental damage types. For the first time in Borderlands, players also have access to melee weapons and magic spells. The guns and melee weapons in this FPS game feature the same procedural technology used in Borderlands 3, giving players access to billions of weapons to sift through.

To take things even further, there are several weapon manufacturers that specialise in their own brand of guns and ammo. For example, if you're looking for a weapon that can land plenty of critical hits, a Blackpowder pistol may be the gun for you. Here's everything you need to know about the weapons in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

Grab Razer's DeathAdder Essential gaming mouse for under $20

The best gaming mouse options usually come with a few bells and whistles, but reliable rodents don't have to come at a cost. Sure, flashy RBG lighting helps put on a gaming desk light show and extra buttons are an MMO game boon, but basic performance is arguably more important than all of that. With that in mind, it's probably worth checking out Razer's DeathAdder Essential, as can currently grab it for under $20.

If you're on a tight budget, or you've already blown it on the best graphics card available, arming your rig with the Razer DeathAdder Essential is a no brainer. The peripheral packs a 6,400 DPI optical sensor and durable mechanical switches, both of which should help improve performance in the latest FPS games. The DeathAdder Essential also boasts five programmable buttons, and its ergonomic shape is sure to please your palms.

Over on Amazon US, Razer's DeathAdder Essential is going for $19.49, thanks to a 35% discount. If you're a denizen of the UK, you can also obtain this budget mouse for cheap, as a 17% discount brings its price down from £22.85 to £18.98.

Blizzard knows you want to play Diablo 4

The next quarterly Diablo 4 update may be a focused look at environment art, but Blizzard has acknowledged that we're getting to a point where gathering feedback through player testing might be more valuable than text and video-led blog posts.

Diablo global community lead Adam Fletcher took to Twitter to reveal that we are getting an art-focused Diablo 4 update next week. That's cool, though one fan chimed in on Reddit to say that they were hoping for some system updates on something like druid mechanics, events, or endgame activities alongside that, which prompted a reply from Fletcher.

"We typically have some system updates in various blogs, but I also think we are getting to a point where words become harder to understand these items, and thus it gets harder to gather valuable feedback based off what people are interpreting," he says. "We will still have updates in these blogs, and they will constantly evolve until release, but it may be just better for people to experience and play them in testing to gather such feedback.

League of Legends patch 12.6 notes – Hecarim nerfs, Anima Squad skins

The League of Legends updates are coming thick and fast. LoL patch 12.5 has hit the live server, introducing a wonderful selection of bee-inspired skins to the MOBA. Don't bee-lieve for one second, though, that's all we got. Riot has tweaked Master Yi and Seraphine with some solid changes, while several other LoL champs got some quality-of-life adjustments, too.

Now, though, it's time to look toward LoL patch 12.6. We're sticking with the animal theme this time around as the new Anima Squad skins have hit the PBE. If you've been out of the loop, a few champions - such as Vayne, Miss Fortune, and Jinx - are getting some punky skins themed around bats, bunnies, cats, and more. You can check out the in-game clips of these in action and their splash art in the skins section below.

We're a good bit into the patch cycle, so have a decent idea about what champion changes are coming our way. Keep checking in, though, as we'll keep this post regularly updated.

This week, in a move perhaps more suited to an October special episode, the Electronic Wireless Show podcast is here to put the spook 'ems right up you and talk about the best ghosts in games. This is in honour of Ghostwire: Tokyo, a game that Matthew played and reviewed for us, and one that has loads of bloody ghosts in it.

No update on Henry Cavill this week, but we talk a bit about Matthew's cursed trip to DisneyLand Paris, ways that Ghostbusters could take on a very different tone, and, once again, inject some serial killer energy into the podcast. Nate delivers a fun Cavern Of Lies where we have to guess which of the plots of terrible ghost games are made up. And for some reason I've written 'The Count of Monster Disco' in my notes. The reason escapes me. But it was probably funny.

Update 1.03.2 for Elden Ring dropped yesterday with a focus on removing several bugs, with the patch notes saying they had "fixed a bug in multiplayer that allowed players to teleport others to incorrect map coordinates." Oh, but, teleporting me to the right map coordinates is fine, huh FromSoftware?!

There's already several creative ways to bother people online while playing Elden Ring, but as Ed points out, cosplaying Thanos was one of the more destructive ways. There was an exploit that hackers could use where they could teleport you to a void, trap you in an infinite death loop, and completely torpedo your save.

As several members of the RPS Treehouse can attest, I have not been able to stop playing Tunic this week. I was a little cautious going in, having not particularly gelled with the E3 demo from last year, but in hindsight, that early glimpse was nothing but the tip of a tiny fox nose peeking out of its burrow. In its full, regal splendour, Tunic has become an early game of the contender for me, and a large part of that is down to its wonderfully clever in-game instruction manual.

When Imogen (RPS in peace) interviewed Tunic dev Andrew Shouldice last September, they talked about how instruction manuals were a fundamental part of a game's design back in the days of the NES, and at one point he even pulled out his old instruction booklet for Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link to demonstrate some of the "tantalising hints" they'd offer to curious players. As Brendan (also RPS in peace) noted in our Tunic review, the in-game manual is indeed a critical part of what makes Tunic special, and the act of piecing it together page by page really does capture that feeling of discovering some great secret that only you and the dev team know about. But here's a secret between you and me: it's not by chance Shouldice pulled out that old Zelda II manual during our interview last year. His fox hero may be cut from the same cloth as Nintendo's green sword-swinger, but the art inside Tunic's instruction manual also pays a wonderful tribute to those Zelda booklets of yore, too.

I've spent over 40 hours with Elden Ring and I'm still not very good at it. At this stage I'm less of a worthy Tarnished warrior on their way to be crowned the Elden Lord and instead more of a Mr. Bean type, accidentally succeeding through sheer incompetence alone. I can't explain it, but my method of defeating Godrick had the same energy as Bean making a sandwich, in that I think the game eventually just took pity on me and let me win the fight to save me any further embarrasment.

I'm coming to terms with the fact I may never finish Elden Ring. I'm only in the second proper area, but I'm finding encounters to require a level of patience I simply don't possess. Its boss fights are simply too hard. But if I'm struggling this much at such an early stage, what else could Elden Ring possibly have to offer? What types of monstrosities lurk in the farthest reaches of the Lands Between, and how difficult are they to defeat? Spoilers, naturally, below.

I think "platformer" and my next thought is "slick". Hollow Knight springs to mind, as does Ori, as does Celeste. They all have precise and snappy movement, with upgrades and new abilities that add complexity without stodge. As for 3D platformers, Super Mario 64 remains a glowing example of how movement makes exploration joyful. String together rolls and jumps and you're not just navigating a world, but bounding through it like a gymnast (who's also a part time plumber to help pay the costs of serious competition).

Elden Ring is a terrible platformer. It's stiff and awkward and less gymnast, more Gimli on the Buckfast. But this is what makes its platforming sections good. They force you to embrace your limited toolset and channel your amateur longjumping, golfing, and climbing skills you definitely don't have.

For all of the spectral errand boy trappings of Ghostwire: Tokyo, good gravy, is it a looker. From the hyper-detailed backstreets to giant blazing billboards bouncing off fresh rain puddles, this take on Tokyo is eye-catching enough to ditch the sidequests and simply spend some time strolling around. Even if that stroll is sometimes interrupted by rowdy gangs of yokai.

In Matthew's earlier preview, he noted a similarly evocative atmosphere to that of the YouTube channel Virtual Japan, which has featured one particularly calming walking tour through a rain-soaked Tokyo. 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Switch Trailer Goes Over Mysteries

There's a new 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Switch trailer, and this one offers glimpses of characters dealing with the game's mysteries. Not all of the secrets are revealed, of course. But it spends over a minute looking at some major cast members dealing with unusual circumstances.

The first one of the 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim characters to show up is Shu Amiguchi. He's alone at home when his TV turns itself on and the singer on-stage makes a request and calls his name. After that, we see Megumi Yakushiji meeting a talking cat offering her a contract. Natsuno Minami appears after that with an odd robot she found at school. Men in black suits are chasing after the two of them. After that, we see other characters dealing with Sentinels and invading kaiju.

Here's the 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Switch Mysteries trailer.

As a reminder, pre-orders are already open for the game. There is also a bonus for physical copies. People who get one from a retailer will also get a set of art cards. These feature various 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim character art on them.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim will come to the Nintendo Switch on April 12, 2022. Digital and physical pre-orders are open. It is already available on the PS4 worldwide.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Featured a UI Designing First for the Series

In a new Kirby and the Forgotten Land Ask the Developer, HAL Lab General Director Shinya Kumazaki and Director Tatsuya Kamiyama talked about the game's design and localization. In particular, it came up that this installment marks a first for the series. Rather than using Japanese when designing the game's UI, they used English.

First, Kamiyama revealed English was the default. This was done to make sure the UI and menus looked more natural worldwide.

Here's another first for this series – when we designed the user interfaces (7) for buttons and menus, we used English.
Using Japanese for the user interface would be more intuitive for us, but designing those spaces for Japanese characters left other languages with text that was squished and hard to read.
So we decided to design those sections in English rather than Japanese, which resulted in much longer text than we're used to seeing.

After that, Kumazaki discussed how this resulted in a challenge when developing it.

That said, when I wrote the text, implemented it, and checked it in the game, it was...all in English. So it was very difficult for me. (Laughs)
We believe it's important to make sure the text in those areas doesn't slow the game down for anyone, so we tried to keep players from all over the world in mind. We put a lot of effort into that section of the game.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land will launch worldwide on March 25, 2022, and the demo is available in the Nintendo eShop.

Three other winners will be able to choose three coaster mats out of the 15 designs based on the series's characters. When all winner slots for the day are already filled, the rest will only spend the day in a standard room with the above calendar and postcard.

This capsule hotel promotion is part of Capcom's celebration for the 20th anniversary of the Devil May Cry franchise, which debuted in August 2001. The company previously announced other time-limited merchandise sales in Japan, such as at Capcom Cafe and Pop Up Store.

All five mainline Devil May Cry titles to date are available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. A collection of the first three games has also appeared on Nintendo Switch.
