The Quarry system requirements – hefty CPU and GPU specs

The masterminds behind Until Dawn have another horror game on the way, but before you can enjoy the thrill of the chase, you'll first need to check whether your gaming PC meets The Quarry system requirements. You have a good chance of being able to run the frightfest if your rig can play any of The Dark Pictures Anthology series, but the recommended specs are reserved for modern systems built within the past couple of years.

It's not clear what kind of resolutions or frame rates Supermassive Games aims for with The Quarry system requirements, but hitting the minimum is relatively easy. Much like other games in the developer's catalogue, you'll be able to boot with a decade-old gaming CPU, a six-year-old graphics card, the standard 8GB of RAM, and 50GB of space. It doesn't even require the speed of the best SSD for gaming, although it couldn't hurt if you wanted to pick up the pace of loading times.

To hit the recommended system requirements, The Quarry doesn't just demand processors released in 2020 onwards, but top-of-the-line chips at that. It lists the Intel i9-10900K and AMD Ryzen 7 3800 XT, both of which are flagships of their respective lines and set a high bar for those that haven't upgraded in a while. Recommended GPU requirements aren't quite as extreme considering it targets entry-to-mid range and new Nvidia RTX 4000 graphics cards are just around the corner, but it's still punishing to those left behind due to lengthy chip shortages.

MSI charges $1,000 for an Xbox Series S-sized cloud gaming PC

A new MSI MAG Trident cloud gaming PC is coming that looks like an uncanny Xbox Series S. Yet, despite its aesthetic, the mini machine's AMD Ryzen 7 APU doesn't match Microsoft's console specs, and its price could persuade you to get your Nvidia GeForce Now fix elsewhere.

Unveiled during Computex, MSI describes its MAG Trident gaming PC as a "desktop dedicated to cloud and mobile gaming." The company also says its small system caters to living room setups, with Game Stadium software helping to facilitate a console-like experience.

In terms of specs, MSI says the gaming PC packs an AMD Ryzen 7 APU, with Excaliberpc listing the chip as a Ryzen 7 5700G. While the manufacturer claims tech like FidelityFX Super Resolution can boost fps on the remarkably small rig, it's not going to keep up with the Xbox Series S. Essentially, the machine is more of a cloud streaming box than an at-home hardware solution, but its $1,000 USD price tag means you're better off investing in another streaming solution.

     Hitman 3 system requirements

The Hitman 3 system requirements may seem a little confusing at first, with three separate specs for standard rasterisation, ray tracing, and VR. Thankfully, we're here to help you understand what exactly your gaming PC is capable of when it comes to running Agent 47's latest and final adventure.

Regarldess of which Hitman 3 system requirements you're aiming to meet, we recommend that everyone make use of Nvidia DLSS or AMD FSR. These upscaling technologies are one of the easiest ways to boost fps with minimal impact to image quality, benefitting both budget pixel pushers and the best graphics cards.

All three games in the Hitman trilogy can now be played in VR, but there are a host of other visual improvements that have been madeto the game's Glacier engine as well. Ray traced reflections and shadows are finally here, meaning you'll be able to enjoy a richer atmosphere and see your target's final moments reflecting perfectly on 47's shiny head.

Destiny 2 solar 3.0 confirmed in season 17 and the Leviathan is back

Bungie has confirmed a Destiny 2 solar 3.0 rework as part of the FPS game's upcoming season 17, now revealed to be 'Season of the Haunted,' which begins today (May 24) at 6pm BST. The new Destiny 2 update also features the return of Emperor Calus's world-eating ship the Leviathan from the Destiny Content Vault, which longtime players will remember as the site of the game's first raid. Though we've seen Destiny 1 locations return, this will be the first Destiny 2 content to be 'unvaulted', so it'll be interesting to see how it's changed.

Probably the most anticipated news from the new season is the confirmation of solar 3.0 - a rework for all solar subclasses, following the void 3.0 subclass rework in Destiny 2's The Witch Queen expansion. This reworked kit will be available to all players regardless of whether or not they purchase the Season of the Haunted pass.

The Leviathan's return signals the narrative direction of the new season, with the once-opulent ship returning from - well, wherever it's been - now corrupted and crumbling. Earlier in the game we learned that Calus made contact with an entity of the Darkness during his exile in deep space, which, following its reveal in the events of the Witch Queen, seems likely to be The Witness, the commander of the 'Black Fleet' of pyramid ships. With Calus returning from the vault and his sights set on the Moon pyramid, we can clearly expect a ton of story in the new season.

Vampire Survivors update 0.6.1 is the most insane patch yet

Vampire Survivors update 0.6.1 has dropped, adding a one to the end of the 0.6 patch notes revealed at the weekend - and that's the least of this update's surprises for the roguelike game, as it adds three new characters, a merchant, a new stage, and a ton of surprises. It's the biggest, craziest patch yet.

Developer Poncle describes the unassuming update as "the weird one" in the Vampire Survivors 0.6.1 patch notes, but also claimed it would have "less content than usual". Players shouldn't have believed this for a second, as Poncle has often left things out, such as swarms of angry cats. Right on cue, update 0.6.1 (wait, what does the menu screen say?), is actually possibly the vampire game's most significant patch ever.

Head to the Moongolow stage, talk to the new merchant, buy all his wares, and be prepared for the trippiest experience in Vampire Survivors yet. There are three new characters - none of which are mentioned in the notes - two new freezing-focused Arcana power-ups called Jail of Crystal and Out of Bounds, and a new relic called the Yellow Sign.

How to unlock secret characters in Vampire Survivors

Want to know how to unlock secret characters in Vampire Survivors? When you start your first run you only have a handful of Vampire Survivors characters and a few weapons available. However, on each playthrough, more items, weapons, and characters unlock for you to use in future attempts.

These items are vital if you wish to use Vampire Survivor weapon evolutions to maximise a weapon's damage output. The game also locks new characters behind requirements, such as leveling up your gear to a certain threshold, finding items in a level, or slaying a quota of monsters. Later on, you can also find Arcana to give your weapons unique bonuses to annihilate your foes.

Some of these unlock conditions are vague and confusing, so we thought we'd list how you can get all of the Vampire Survivors characters, weapons, items, and levels. We also have a cheat code that you need to type to get another hidden vampire slayer and steps to access a secret character that requires you to tinker with the game's code.

     Vampire Survivors weapon evolution guide

Want to know how to evolve weapons in Vampire Survivors? This roguelite indie game is rapidly gaining in popularity, as players discover the sheer joy of walking around a forest or library, slaying an ever-growing encroaching horde of monsters that just want to be very close to you.

It's a relatively simple game to play, but mastering it and unlocking Vampire Survivors characters can get a little tricky if you don't spec into the correct build from the start. To evolve an item in Vampire Survivors, you must first level up a weapon to its maximum level, collect its linked item when it appears on the level up screen, then kill a boss monster and open the chest it leaves behind. Unfortunately, you only have a few slots for weapons and items, so you must choose carefully.

The items that synergise well with a weapon aren't necessarily the items you need to evolve them, so while you'll want to pick up the Candelabrador if you have the Garlic weapon, you also need a Pummarola to power it up. To help you figure out which items you should keep on a run with the best Vampire Survivors characters, we've put together a list of all the possible Vampire Survivors weapon evolutions and which items you need to pick up when you level up.

Asus ROG gaming monitor outpaces GPU tech at 500Hz

Asus has unveiled a 500Hz gaming monitor, raising the refresh rate bar for the best graphics cards to achieve. The company's new E-TN (Esports TN) panel packs Nvidia G-Sync and Reflex Analyzer support, with the former adding clout to the screen's absurdly high ceiling.

Announced Nvidia's Computex keynote, the Asus ROG 500Hz gaming monitor is seemingly the first G-Sync screen to reach such illustrious hertz heights. As you'd expect, the gaming PC giant says its new display is built "from the ground up for esports," with specs that pair nicely with the best FPS games.

While you might need to wait for next-gen GPUs like the RTX 4090 to show up before taking true advantage of the E-TN gaming monitor's refresh rate, Nvidia G-Sync demonstrations suggest otherwise. A side by side comparison clip claims that a 500Hz refresh rate produces smoother animations and improved latency in games like Valorant. Ultimately, both boons should help enthusiasts aim true, but we'd need to test the screen for ourselves to see how much of a difference it really makes.

     F1 22 system requirements

The F1 22 system requirements are here to help you make sure your gaming PC can run Codemasters' latest racing game. While not much has changed in terms of specs from last year's entry in the series, you may want to book your system in for a pit stop so that you can enjoy the game's new VR support to the fullest.

Blink and you might miss it, the only differences between the F1 22 system requirements and its predecessor's are the GPUs you'll need to run it. Thankfully, the barrier for entry remains low with the Nvidia GeForce GT 1050 Ti and AMD RX 470 proving more than enough.

However, you'll likely want to arm your rig with the best graphics card you can for a couple of reasons. In addition to its ray tracing features, you'll be able to play F1 22 in VR for the first time in the series's history on the market's best VR headsets. This will understandably require a large amount of pixel pushing horsepower, but you can easily boost fps in the game with Nvidia DLSS or AMD FSR.

Steam Deck replacement parts go on sale at iFixit

24/05/2022 After being pulled down, replacement parts are now available to purchase from iFixit.

Valve promised to make replacement parts for its Steam Deck handheld gaming PC available to all back in February, but gave no indication as to what components would be available or how much they'd cost. Now, it appears that one retailer may have accidentally announced both.

Over the weekend, Steam Deck replacement parts briefly went on sale via iFixit, with prices ranging from as little as $5 for battery and screen adhesive all the way up to $350 for a motherboard. The amount of components available to buy is welcomingly large, with fans, screens, thumbsticks, speakers, and more rounding out the line-up.

However, iFixit has since taken down all of its Steam Deck replacement parts listings and took to Twitter over the weekend to clarify that they "went live earlier than planned" (via IGN). Regardless, the retailer has promised to honour all orders placed during the time the product pages were up. It's not yet known when the proper launch will take place, but iFixit says it should happen "soon."

One-man games industry Geoff Keighley has revealed that third-party publishers won't be staging as many showcases of their own this summer. Keighley made the comments in a Twitter Spaces cast over the weekend, probably to everyone's great relief. Of course, he immediately followed up by explaining that the publishers with fewer games to show will be rolling their presentations into Keighley's own Summer Game Fest, as well as first-party shows such as the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase.

The AMD Ryzen 7000 family of CPUs is preparing for launch in 2022, two years after the Ryzen 5000 series. AMD have spent a good chunk of that time on its laptop chips, but back in the realm of desktops, Intel's 12th Gen Alder Lake chips have leveraged major design improvements to beat the Ryzen 5000 series on performance and features. One suspects it would take a considerable rejigging for these Ryzen 7000 chips to get back into the best gaming CPUs conversation – and so far, that's exactly what seems to be happening.

Now, AMD haven't revealed all things Ryzen 7000 yet. There are no confirmed prices, for one, though we know roughly when the first batch of CPUs will release. For now, this is where I'll be gathering all the reliably verified info on these next-gen components, from supported features and the new motherboard chipsets to those overhauled Ryzen 7000 specs.

Final Fantasy 35th Anniversary T-Shirts UNIQLO

UNIQLO has announced that the Final Fantasy 35th anniversary t-shirts will be reprinted and resold in Japan in late June 2022. This is due to the high demand for the shirts and the popularity of the collaboration. The online store will see a complete restock, whereas only select physical locations will have the shirts available again. Additionally, the Final Fantasy playing card sets and anniversary box will not be available, as these items were exclusive to the first run of the collaboration.

All 16 Final Fantasy 35th anniversary t-shirts are going to be reprinted, which will give consumers another opportunity to get their hands on this special collaboration merchandise. Special sizes for the shirts will also be produced and made available through the online store. It is unclear if this reprint will only be available in the Japanese region or if it will extend to North America and Europe as well. More information regarding that could appear in the future.

As mentioned previously, the collaboration features a total of 16 t-shirts. One t-shirt for each mainline Final Fantasy game is available to purchase, including one for Final Fantasy XVI. Each t-shirt features a piece of iconography or notable text from the game. The shirts are immediately available in North America, Europe, and Japan.

FFXIV 6.11a Patch Notes

Square Enix released patch notes for FFXIV Patch 6.11a, which detail further adjustments to PvP and Job Actions. Additionally, they reveal that players will no longer be automatically logged out of the game after 30 minutes of inactivity. This was originally put in place due to server congestion during the initial release of Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker. Months later, Square Enix has now chosen to remove the timer. However, the most significant information in the FFXIV 6.11a patch notes concerns various adjustments to PvP.

The patch notes detail that changes to various Job Actions have been made based on the win rate and playability of each individual Job Class. Job Classes that will see adjustments through the patch include:

  • Gunbreaker
  • Bard
  • Machinist
  • Dancer
  • Black Mage
  • Summoner
  • Red Mage
  • Astrologian

Black Mage will be the most significantly changed Job Class. Further adjustments to job actions will appear through FFXIV Patch 6.15 once it releases. Additionally, some adjustments have been made to the Crystalline Conflict matching system. Players who are in the Crystal tier are now able to match with players who are Diamond 3 (with 1 Rising Star) or higher. The matching system will be adjusted through future updates.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Yakiniku Simulation

Fresh off the announcement of Banchou Tactics, Secret Character has a more low-key title in the wings. Co-developed with Napas Torteeka, Yakiniku Simulation brings the experience of eating grilled meat alone to the personal computer [Thanks, Denfaminicogamer!].

Check out some gameplay footage of Yakiniku Simulation below.

https://twitter.com/denfaminicogame/status/1528506349960986624

In Yakiniku Simulation, players are given free rein over a classical in-table grilling apparatus, some meat, sauce, and vegetables. They'll be able to grill the meat, flip over the slices to cook them evenly, dip it in the sauce (presumably representing the usual mixture of soy sauce, sesame, mirin, and sugar), and eat it.

The act of eating yakiniku has proven a surprisingly fertile ground for game concepts over the years. In 2001, Media Entertainment developed Yakiniku Bugyou (a.k.a. Yakinku Magistrate) for the PlayStation 1 in partnership with restaurant chain Gyu-Kaku. Players were tasked with preparing and serving yakiniku to satisfy impatient customers. Monkeypaw Games released Yakiniku Bugyou overseas for PlayStation 3 users as an import digital download. A sequel, Yakiniku Bugyou Bonfire! appeared on the PlayStation 2 in 2003, though it remains Japan-only. In contrast to the earlier titles, Yakiniku Simulation is more concentrated on the eating aspect of the meat-grilling experience, seemingly casting the player as a solo eater at some anonymous yakiniku joint.

Check out some gameplay footage from Yakiniku Bugyou courtesy of Youtuber spm moto.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=in-5QM04eCI

Yakiniku Simulation is in development for PC. There is no release window or pricing information available at this time.

Dragon's Dogma anniversary

Capcom opened a new website celebrating the 10th anniversary of the release of Dragon's Dogma. It also released a new illustration commemorating the occasion, along with a message to fans from director Hideaki Itsuno. The new website also includes a timeline of past releases, from remasters to the recent Netflix anime adaptation.

Dragon's Dogma originally released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan on May 24, 2012. The game featured an open world, where players could control a customizable character and fight monsters in a quest to defeat the Dragon that stole their heart. The game was praised for its scale and variety of combat.

Capcom later ported the game to PC in 2016, as well as to the Xbox One and PS4 in 2017. The enhanced version of the game, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, released for the Nintendo Switch in 2019. Most recently, the Dragon's Dogma original Netflix animation aired in September 2020.

https://twitter.com/dev1_official/status/1528912491425984512?s=20&t=AYpJpeVAvzWK-hzIHKuiRw

The website, available in multiple languages, is somewhat barebones. A message from the game's director, Hideaki Itsuno, thanks fans for their continued support throughout the years, and says that they are "forever grateful." Below the message is a timeline of game releases, including the most recent anime adaptation. Furthermore, the Japanese version of the timeline also lists other media, such as spin-off manga, novels, mobile games, and MMORPGs.

You can check out the Dragon's Dogma 10th anniversary illustration below:
