Kotaku Monday, June 20, 2022 9:25 AM Diablo Immortal has been one of the more hotly contested releases of 2022, receiving the lowest ever user score on Metacritic, while simultaneously receiving eight million downloads and making over $24,000,000 in its first two weeks. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 11:50 AM Fortnite is filled to the brim with creative and chaotic weapons and tools like the excellent Grapple Glove, or any number of over-the-top grenades and guns. It's a big part of the appeal for many players alongside how much fun it is to play, coupled with the still fairly new ability to avoid having to build a Sistine Chapel whenever you get into a firefight. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 11:41 AM A Battlefield 2042 player has pulled off an astounding mid-air hijack that's on par with the classic 'LoopZook' manoeuvre that helped inspire the catchphrase 'only in Battlefield.' The clip shows the player leap off a cliff, snipe a helicopter pilot whilst wingsuiting, and successfully commandeer the aircraft. The feat takes place on Battlefield 2042's newly released map, Exposure, which rolled out with the multiplayer game's first season earlier this month. In the clip, redditor Galaxy3170 begins at the top of the cliff in zone D, and spots a Russian MI-240 Super Hind helicopter moving into position in the gulch below. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 11:23 AM Looking for the best Diablo Immortal Monk build? The Monk is a fast-paced fighter, specialising in martial arts and agility, excelling in both PvE and PvP as the party's master of melee. The Monk is quick and can land deadly, sweeping blows with crowd control skills - great for grouping enemies and dipping in and out of combat with high DPS and killer combos to match. The Monk is one of the six Diablo Immortal classes, and ranks well on our Diablo Immortal tier list, though not as high as the Crusader and Barbarian as the Monk is best utilised in co-op as a support role. While the Monk's defensive and damage capabilities are strong, we've chosen a Diablo Immortal Monk build that is flexible, but capitalises on the Monk's party buffing potential and crowd control, instead of acting as more of a rogue in combat. Here is the best Diablo Immortal Monk build for both PvE and PvP, although we do recommend you use this build in a party as it's not for solo play. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 11:03 AM Have you picked up Resident Evil Village yet? If not, now would be the ideal time for you to do so, because as of today, the game is 56% off in Fanatical's Red Hot Sale. It's one of many games to receive a hefty reduction, with several big games from the last few years available at 50% off or higher, including Soul Calibur 6, Frostpunk, Biomutant, and more. What makes the Resident Evil Village offer particularly appealing is that this would be a great time for you to buy it. We recently learned a little more about the game's soon-to-be-released DLC, which will see the iconic Lady Dimitrescu become a playable character. Doubtlessly, fans are very excited about this (with even those who haven't played probably having heard of her), and playing the horror game now will put you in just the right position when the DLC comes out in October. However, even ignoring the DLC, the base game itself is pretty spectacular. To quote our Resident Evil Village review "[the game] pulls the best bits from the series' past and recombines them into something fresh and surprising[...][its] heights are among the best in Resident Evil's illustrious history." Even if you've never played a Resident Evil game before, this is one you should definitely try. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 11:01 AM So is V Rising live service or something the developer feels needs large player counts to be successful? It seems that's not the case, as according to the survival game's creators Stunlock Studios, although it is working towards making the final V Rising 1.0 release "an evolution" of the vampire game - with "improved longevity" too. In a new interview with SegmentNext, developer Stunlock Studios revealed a selection of new details about the direction V Rising is headed with its final 1.0 release - whenever that will be. The RPG game has received excellent sales figures on Steam, and a number of those players are worried about longevity in particular. Regarding player retention, Stunlock believes V Rising doesn't need "a large population to continue to be fun, and it really just isn't a live service game in that sense." While the team is "incredibly thankful" for the support from players, it doesn't "feel beholden to keeping every single person playing indefinitely." PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 11:52 AM Diablo Immortal's microtransactions may seem like a fundamental requirement if you want to beat the game's climactic boss battle, and establish yourself at the top of your server as an 'immortal'. But one YouTuber has demonstrated how spending money on legendary gems and loot boxes is not entirely necessary to reach Diablo Immortal's highest character status. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 10:20 AM Looking for the best Diablo Immortal Crusader build? Creating a Crusader build for PvP and PvE is a hard balance to strike, but this holy warrior can act as both a heavy brawler and a healer. Pick the right items, skills, and gems and you'll be tough enough to deal with any situation. The Crusader is a stalwart Diablo Immortal class and is on our list of the best Diablo Immortal builds. It's a high-damage class that can cover ground quickly thanks to its celestial steed, and it's great at tackling large swathes of enemies and buffing the party. If you see yourself as the party's standard-bearer - one to charge in and act as the rally point, dealing sweeping blows while aiding your tailing comrades - then you should choose the Crusader. We've gone for a build that works in both PvE and PvP, but we recommend playing this with a party of friends as the crowd control skills and area of attack abilities are more effective when your teammates can swoop in and finish enemies off. It's also worth flagging that the party buffs we include in this build make it very poorly optimised for solo play, but with a few tweaks, you can create a solo build that'll bash down most packs of enemies. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 10:14 AM Wondering how to craft the best Necromancer build in Diablo Immortal? It seems self-explanatory on the surface – dark mage summons dead people for battle – but Diablo Immortal's Necromancer class has a surprising amount of flexibility in how you send your foes into the great beyond. Despite being burdened with low mobility, the Necromancer excels in PvE and PvP combat. The best Diablo Immortal Necromancer build covers a broad range of areas, including distance attacks and support skills. There's a good deal of flexibility in how you approach these skills too. You could opt for a support Necromancer, for example, or a master of summons who destroys all in their path. If you're playing with a Clan, make sure to consider how your build may complement your party members as well. This guide covers the best skills for your Necromancer and what kind of combat style to focus on for both PvE and PvP modes. We'll also cover the best Diablo Immortal gems you should prioritize to boost those skills and get the most from one of Diablo Immortal's most unique classes. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 9:43 AM Searching for a Diablo Immortal tier list? There's nothing worse in an RPG game than investing countless hours into leveling your character only to discover they don't suit your play style. With six Diablo Immortal classes to pick from and only five character slots per server, hardcore players are going to have to make a tough decision sooner or later. We've taken a close look at every class to determine their place on the Diablo Immortal tier list. There are classes that specialise in crowd control, but perform badly against bosses, and then there's other aspects like PvP and Challenge Rifts to factor in. It's important to note that Diablo Immortal is frequently updated, so it's entirely possible that the worst Diablo Immortal class on our list could soon become the best after a balance patch. In the future, players will have the option to change their class on the fly using the Class Change mechanic, first revealed on a Diablo Immortal blog post. Until then, you're going to have to settle with the characters you create. RELATED LINKS: Diablo Immortal tier list, Diablo Immortal system requirements, Best Diablo Immortal builds |
PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 8:03 AM League of Legends and Dota 2, the ruling kings of the MOBA world, once had a rival in Heroes of Newerth. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 7:52 AM The upcoming Vampire Survivors update 0.7.3 is almost here and developer Poncle confirms the first details in the patch notes, as well as a tease for the vampire game's next character - which may be an actual vampire, this time. While there are plenty of Vampire Survivors characters already, one thing the survival game is often lacking in is - despite the title - actual vampires. There are characters who can be found in coffins, but we're more likely to get a flower-farting dog than a true Dracula-wannabe. However, the tease on Twitter for the Vampire Survivors 0.7.3 patch notes - which confirms the release date as June 23 - shows little emotes for watching eyes and a male vampire. The previous patch, for example, was teased with a church - and then stage 5 hit and it was literally a church. Expect this vampire tease to be very literal, but also expect the unexpected too. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 9:18 AM Want to make the best Diablo Immortal Barbarian build? The Barbarian is the quintessential close-range Diablo Immortal class, and a great choice for newcomers to the Diablo series. Where other classes may prefer to hang back and deal damage from a relatively safe distance, Diablo Immortal's Barbarian charges ahead of the party to get right up in the enemy's face. Unlike other classes, such as the Demon Hunter and Necromancer, the Barbarian's secret to success isn't damage output, although the class can certainly hold its own in that regard. Instead, the Barbarian's primary role is to tank as many hits as possible, drawing enemies away from their squishier allies. Pairing high mobility with devastating area-of-effect abilities, the Barbarian excels at tearing through multiple enemies at once. However, high cooldowns and limited means of retreat mean that the Barbarian is particularly vulnerable to becoming overwhelmed. We're breaking down the best attributes, skills, gear, and gems to keep your Diablo Immortal Barbarian build slicing and dicing. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 7:34 AM Want to play Diablo Immortal crossplay? The game is available on both PC and mobile, so naturally, you may be wondering if you can enable cross-progression and crossplay between the two platforms. The good news is Diablo Immortal supports both crossplay and cross-progression. To get Diablo Immortal crossplay working on both mobile and PC, all you need to do is make your character on mobile and then head to the 'account' tab of the settings menu. Next, click the 'connect your account' option and link it to your Battle.net account. There is also the option to log in to your Battle.net account from the title screen once you've made your first character. If you're a bit stuck on which Diablo Immortal class is right for you, check out our tier list to make this step a little easier. If you've already started playing on mobile then you'll be prompted to link accounts as soon as you boot Diablo Immortal on PC, so it's hard to miss. On that note, if you're a mobile player who's still on the fence about playing on PC, it might be worth checking out the Diablo Immortal system requirements before you take the plunge. As Diablo Immortal is always online, hopping between mobile and PC is pretty seamless - you can even log into one platform while playing on the other, and Battle.net will automatically save your progress and boot you off the original session. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 6:46 AM Players have spotted a delicious Starfield Easter egg hiding in the Xbox Showcase gameplay trailer. The mythical and much-memed Starfield sandwich, that looked so moist and tasty in the previous E3 2021 trailer, makes an appearance in a single shot of the new reveal - which surely must be deliberate? Since the extended Starfield gameplay trailer launched, all sorts of details have been spotted hiding in plain sight - such as confirmation of a photo mode, every weapon having an in-universe ammo counter, and even the first glitches. This spot, from user OdahP on Reddit, could have them all beat - as a single frame of the trailer seems to show the iconic Starfield sandwich. The well-rendered cheese sandwich from the previous trailer got so much attention people recreated the recipe in real life and even asked Bethesda boss Todd Howard about it, who confirmed that the team "spent a lot of time on that cheese sandwich." He even used the term "space cheese" which we appreciate. RELATED LINKS: Starfield release date, Starfield ship design, Starfield Game Pass |
PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 6:42 AM Looking for a comprehensive guide to getting, socketing, and upgrading Diablo Immortal Gems? As in previous Diablo games, gems are absolutely indispensable when it comes to maximising your character's potential and boosting your gear score. Each one grants a passive attribute buff, giving you that much-needed edge to keep fighting through the horrors of Sanctuary just that little bit longer. While you might be tempted to hold off farming for normal Gems in favour of those coveted Legendary Gems, these are relatively difficult to come by in Diablo Immortal without opening your wallet first. The initial benefits of standard Gems might seem negligible, but taking the time to upgrade them will make those Elder Rift runs far 20more manageable regardless of which Diablo Immortal class you've chosen. In this guide, we'll outline the benefits of each Gem type, plus how to find, socket, and upgrade them. Exactly how valuable each Gem is depends heavily on the Diablo Immortal builds you're constructing, so keep your character's base strengths and weaknesses in mind as you decide what Gems will be best for you. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 6:11 AM Looking for the Diablo Immortal server list? Before you can begin smashing through Sanctuary's army of undead, you've got to pick a server. Diablo Immortal doesn't include cross-server play or character transfers, so if you're playing with friends it's vital that you decide which server to play in. Thankfully, Blizzard Entertainment has released a complete list of servers for different regions and languages, so you and your friends can work out which server to join for co-op dungeon-delving or brutal PvP brawls. As the Diablo Immortal server list shows, the game has support for many different languages. You may want to ensure that the server you join has players that speak the same dialect. If performance is your priority, the server you pick should be one close to you to reduce latency. When you first boot up the RPG game, you're automatically assigned a server in your region. However, you can choose to change your Diablo Immortal server by clicking the arrow next to the server name, then using the options available to choose your region and server. If you want to continue where you left off and can't remember which server your character is on, click the My Heroes tab on the left of the server screen. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 5:43 AM Want to know which Diablo Immortal class you should pick? It may shock you to learn that there's a PC version of the mobile RPG game Blizzard initially said wasn't coming to PC. That's great for those of you who prefer to play by frantically clicking your mouse rather than tapping your thumbs, but the main takeaway here is that there's a new Diablo game. Set between the events of Diablo 2 and Diablo 3, your chosen adventurer must deal with the consequences of Archangel Tyrael's sacrifice, and prevent the Lord of Terror's minions from rebuilding the shattered Worldstone. If you've been playing Diablo for a while, you may already have picked your favourite Diablo Immortal class and be familiar with how it'll play. However, if this is your first time venturing into Blizzard's hellish realm, you may be seeking a little to help you defeat the demonic beasts who are relishing the chance to rend your flesh. Our Diablo Immortal tier list takes an objective stance on the best class in the game, but that doesn't mean too much if it doesn't suit your play style. Do you go with the savage Barbarian who can use deadly melee attacks to chop, lop, and crop any foes in their way? Perhaps the Demon Hunter's unique combination of stealth and ranged techniques is more your cup of the proverbial. Still no? If you'd rather take a back seat and keep your hands clean, then you'll probably love the idea of summoning minions with the Necromancer and getting them to do your bidding. There are six wildly different classes in Diablo Immortal, so let's go over each one and explain how they play. PCGamesN Monday, June 20, 2022 4:54 AM Bethesda's open-world games offer some of the best examples of freedom in gaming. They're true sandbox game experiences, so Starfield had me very excited - until studio head Todd Howard confirmed that there is no seamless space travel from planets to space. Basically, this means that you cannot get in your ship and fly it from a planet's surface directly to outer space and then go back down again. Instead, you get in your ship, presumably get a short cutscene of taking off, but don't have control over it until the ship is out in space. While you seemingly can land anywhere, it's just a matter of approaching the planet and selecting a point on a map - like fast travel. "People have asked, 'can you fly the ships straight down to the planet?' No," Todd Howard confirms, without ambiguity. "The on-surface is one reality, and when you're in space, it's another reality." As for why Bethesda decided not to allow players to seamlessly fly ships between space and planet surfaces, Howard says the team didn't want to spend time developing something "that's not that important to the player." Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, June 20, 2022 11:55 AM I didn't get to play as much at Steam Next Fest this weekend as I usually do, partly because I just ran out of time, and partly because the time I did have I spent playing Necrosmith. There were some demos I was meant to play for, like, actual work, and then I ran into a puzzle wall or a bug or something so I just fired up Necrosmith again. Necrosmith is a 2D necromance 'em up that is also sort of a tower defence game. In the middle of the map is your evil lair, the Hall Of Bones, a sort of legally distinct Sauron's tower that gets more flying buttresses the more you upgrade it. If enemies (which can be packs of wolves or flying bugs or all manner of things) do enough damage to destroy it, you lose - so that's your defense bit. For the towers bit, you have to imagine that the towers can move on their own, and also that they're shambling undead monsters made from a jigsaw of different limbs you find, like an army of very unhygenic Mr Potato Heads. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, June 20, 2022 11:33 AM Dinosaurs are cool and scary right? Spiders aren't so great but they're definitely biologically intimidating to humans too. Combine the two and you get Shantae developers WayForward's Spidersaurs, which describes itself as a 2D co-op run'n'gun action game. It's coming to Steam soon, say WayForward. Try not to get the theme tune stuck in your head when you watch the trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, June 20, 2022 10:15 AM Of all the demos featured in this past week's Steam Next Fest, indie environmental 'reverse city-builder' Terra Nil has performed exceedingly well for itself. The demo has cropped up among the top 50 on the most-played games on Steam over the weekend, and is currently nestled between Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord and Vampire Survivors. Not bad for a chill game about rewilding a barren planet. |

Siliconera Monday, June 20, 2022 12:00 PM The latest JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R video is here, and it stars Wamuu. He is one of the major enemies from the Battle Tendency part of the story. Wamuu isn't a Ripple user. Rather, he's a member of the Pillar Men. All members of this race can change their bodies. In the case of Wamuu, he changes his body into gusts of winds and tornadoes. His trailer shows how he changes his body's structure to attack. The ultimate attack in the video is his Final Mode, Atmospheric Rift wind whip.
Only one of the Pillar Men isn't playable in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R. Esidisi, Kars, and Wamuu all appear in the game. Santana does not. In case you missed some of the past JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R character trailers, here are ones for folks who appeared ahead of Wamuu.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R will appear on September 2, 2022. It will be available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Siliconera Monday, June 20, 2022 11:00 AM Square Enix is continuing its newly launched run of Final Fantasy XIV music video releases. Each one so far takes a song from Endwalker and shares it online. As the track plays, scenes from the expansion appear to set the stage. The latest FFXIV music video is for "Close the Distance." Here's the full FFXIV "Close the Distance" music video. As a note, there are spoilers shown in it. While presented without context, they can still spoil some of the events in Endwalker. Especially regarding things that happen for the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. For those aware of the context, this a song Masayoshi Soken composed that plays while in Ultima Thule. In-game, people will hear multiple variations of "Close in the Distance" play as part of the story. For example, there is an instrumental version of it. Another is called "Echoes in the Distance." The last FFXIV music video Square Enix shared was for "Flow." That track is another one with variations of its theme appearing throughout songs appearing in the expansion. Final Fantasy XIV and its Endwalker expansion is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. The official soundtrack for the game is also available to purchase. Siliconera Monday, June 20, 2022 10:00 AM We now know when Denji's adventures will continue. Tatsuki Fujimoto's Chainsaw Man manga will return with part 2 on July 13, 2022. Shonen Jump Plus will offer the next new chapter starting that day. A worldwide release date hasn't been set yet. [Thanks, Famitsu and Manga Mogura RE!] As a reminder, Chainsaw Man follows Denji, a young man who fuses with the Chainsaw Devil Pochita. As such, he's able to transform into Chainsaw Man. The first part of the series follows him as he works for the government's Public Safety Devil Hunters alongside folks like Makima, Power, Aki, Himeno, Kobeni, and Kishibe. Together, they face various devils who threaten the innocent. The first part of the manga ends with the suggestion that Denji might be able to pursue a different sort of life in its second part. Previously, the new arc had a general Summer 2022 release window. This means part 2 of the Chainsaw Man manga will return ahead of the anime adaptation. That is in development. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, June 20, 2022 11:15 AM Today marks the end of an era. Developer Frostburn Studios has shut down Heroes of Newerth after announcing it would do so last December. An official reason for this decision has not been provided, but it's most likely due to Heroes of Newerth's dwindling player base. The MOBA has had difficulties attracting new players for some time. In the original announcement, Frostburn stated, "Even though the journey of HoN has come to an end, we believe that all the valuable memories of our players through all these years will never fade away." The studio also took the opportunity to thank its players for their support in making Heroes of Newerth "one of the most popular MOBA games in history." To someone unfamiliar with Heroes of Newerth that claim may sound exaggerated, but HoN was once a major player among the most popular MOBA games. It's difficult to believe now, but Heroes of Newerth was once League of Legends' biggest competitor. Howe... |
