PCGamesN Saturday, August 13, 2022 1:22 PM  The Age of Doom mod has received a big update from its creator, adding a playable Arachnotron with its own campaign episode to the spin on the classic FPS game along with general improvements to the rest of the game. The Age of Doom mod for Age of Empires 2 lets you play Doom in the AoE II game engine, using a point and click style of gameplay that will be familiar to fans of ARPG games such as Diablo. Now, the version 1.25 update for the mod introduces a new campaign called "Spider" which sees players taking control of one of Doom's most terrifying enemies, the Arachnotron. A giant cybernetic spider monster first introduced in Doom 2, the Arachnotron is a giant brain with eyes inside a robotic shell with four hydraulic, arachnid-style legs, and a plasma cannon mounted to its front. In addition to the new campaign, the v1.25 update also includes some additional polish to visual effects, additional sounds, new units, and gameplay improvements and bug fixes for all previous episodes. We'll never tire of unique ways to play Doom - and, while the simple act of running the 1993 classic on everything down to a tiny Lego brick monitor is satisfying enough, developers attempting unique takes on the formula is always refreshing to see. |

The Genshin Impact 3.0 special preview program is here, and it gives us plenty of new details about the next expansion for the anime game. Along with the Genshin Impact 3.0 release date, we also found out when we will be able to summon several upcoming Genshin Impact characters - and got news of an event that will let players add Dendro user Collei to their roster for free. The Genshin Impact 3.0 update release date is August 24. In addition, we learnt that the next three versions will run on a five week schedule rather than the usual six week period. This means that we can expect version 3.1 to arrive on September 28, version 3.2 on November 2, and version 3.3 on December 7. These dates are of course subject to change, but it looks like we'll be getting a faster rollout of new content following the launch of 3.0. We also got news of two upcoming banners for the Genshin Impact version 3.0 period. Phase one will feature both five-star Dendro user Tighnari and four-star Dendro specialist Collei - two of the new Sumeru characters that have been revealed so far - along with returning five-star Geo expert Zhongli. The second banner features newcomer Dori, a four-star Electro character, alongside returning five-stars Ganyu and Kokomi. The Scholarship of Skyrim mod tasks players with becoming a real in-world scholar, allowing you to research various ancient cultures in the fantasy game before writing a thesis about them that will also award additional bonus stats when completed. The Scholarship of Skyrim mod, by creator Zamio1, hopes to lean into players' itch to uncover more about some of the mysterious ancient races and cultures that can be found dotted around the world of the Elder Scrolls game. Players can tackle their research in various ways - reading pre-existing books, talking to fellow scholars who may specialise in a given topic, and ultimately heading out into the field to get some hands-on experience. Currently, there are three cultures available to focus on, though Zamio says they would like to include more over time. Players can research the underground-dwelling engineers the Dwemer, with their robotic craftsmanship and impressive underground architecture. They can dig into the Falmer, a previously prosperous culture who were said to have maintained a large empire before their downfall. A free-to-play open-world RPG for Avatar: The Last Airbender, Avatar: Generations, will appear on mobile devices in the near future. Its soft launch will be sometime in August 2022. Rather than you making your own character and exploring the world of Avatar, the game will allow players to relive the original show. [Thanks, IGN!] Aside from Aang's story, it seems that future content will include the stories of other Avatars. So far, it seems that players will be able to experience the journeys of Korra, Roku, and Kyoshi. Avatar: Generations will be a squad-based adventure game. You can also recruit characters to customize your party. Since the game is F2P, this recruitment function may be a gacha. Those in Canada, Denmark, South Africa, and Sweden will be eligible for the soft launch. It will be available in other regions later on. According to Will Moore, the CEO of Navigator Games, the team wanted to create a game that expanded on the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe in an authentic way. It also endeavored to create a game that players of all skill levels and exposure could access. Avatar: The Last Airbender is an anime-influenced television series that ran from 2005 to 2008. It follows the story of Aang, who is the eponymous last Airbender in a world where some people can manipulate one of the four elements. As the Avatar, he must help bring harmony to the world. In Aang's case, that means defeating the Fire Lord. Avatar: The Last Airbender and the sequel The Legend of Korra are on streaming services such as Netflix. Avatar: Generations will go live sometime in the future for mobile devices, with its soft launch later this month in certain territories. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered has launched for the Windows PC, with a new trailer and blog post. The blog post includes some quotes from the development team regarding choices they made in the porting process. Most of the enhancements focus on wide-screen gaming. The trailer for the PC port focuses more on the actual game itself. Aside from scenes of web-slinging action you can partake in as Spider-Man, it features cameos from some classic villains. Scorpion and Rhino, for example, make brief appearances. According to Coen Frauenfelder, who is the Lead Software Engineer, the team decided to add support for 32:9 screens (48:9 for a triple monitor setup) because gamers enjoyed 21:9 aspect ratio support in other games. For some cinematics, however, they look the best in 16:9. Normally, companies place black borders to block off the excess space. But Nixxes altered the scenes to fit in ultra-wide view. Members of the team went through cutscenes and told the engineers and artists what they needed to change. As a result, you can view cut scenes in up to 32:9. For monitors that have a higher aspect ratio, the edges of the cut scenes are blurred out. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is available on PS4, PS5, and Windows PC. Prism Project from Sony Music Entertainment has opened up auditions for all genders. Auditions close on September 9, 2022. Though Prism Project's agency is in Tokyo, VTubers for Prism primarily speak English. However, those who can communicate and stream in other languages are welcome as well. [Thanks, ANN!] Those who are interested need to apply through Prism Project's website. You also must live in one of these countries: United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Peru, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, or Singapore. Similar to other agencies such as Nijisanji EN, the job is much more home-based and you will not need to physically visit the office in Tokyo. Applicants do not need to provide their own avatar, as Prism Project will make one for those who pass. Sony will also provide equipment if you need it. Additionally, you will become a Sony Music talent. According to the website, Sony will help applicants with career goals such as live performances, voice acting, merchandising, and more. Prism Project first appeared in 2021. All of the VTubers in the agency are female-presenting in the sense that their avatars look female. This means that if any male-presenting VTubers pass this particular audition, they will be the first male VTubers to debut from Prism. Some VTubers in the agency include Miyoshino Shiki, Hoshifuri Iku, and Kamizuki Naki. Prism Project is open for auditions until September 9, 2022.
