Kotaku Thursday, September 8, 2022 2:25 PM The life-sim Disney Dreamlight Valley frames its story as Mickey-Mouse-ears-wearing haven—far, far away from the hustle of city living or real life. Kotaku Thursday, September 8, 2022 2:20 PM Britain's most famous lover of the Nintendo Wii, and also its longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, has died at the age of 96. Her family flew in to say their goodbyes before she passed, and, perhaps, to reminisce about her enthusiasm for Wii Sports Bowling. |

Kotaku Thursday, September 8, 2022 12:35 PM Last week, the multiplayer shooter Halo Infinite, which makes headlines more often for its stumbles than its successes, suffered its biggest PR blow to date: Couch co-op, a feature first flaunted half a decade ago, wouldn't come out as intended. PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 2:08 PM If you want to feed Disney Dreamlight Valley animals, you don't have to have a singing voice like Snow White. Just offer them food and the hungry little critters will be scuttling around your feet in no time. In fact, feed them enough times, and you'll be able to turn them into companions, following you around the Disney game permanently as you carry out your daily life sim tasks. Like pets in an MMO game, companions are an avatar customisation option, so you can choose which adorable animals you'd like to keep you company on your quests. In order to turn wild critters into companions though, as well as earn daily loot and Dreamlight, you'll need to know how to approach them and what food they like. |
PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 1:56 PM New Overwatch 2 heroes are locked behind the multiplayer game's battle pass, Blizzard announced in a tweet. Overwatch commercial leader Jon Spector posted the tweet in a bid to clarify information that went up early about Overwatch 2's battle pass. Unlike the first Overwatch, and a good many other multiplayer shooter, Overwatch 2's new heroes are initially only available on the battle pass' free track. Spector didn't mention how far long in the pass the heroes will be or how long they'll remain there, though. RELATED LINKS: Overwatch 2 heroes, Overwatch 2 release date, Overwatch 2 tier list |

PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 12:39 PM Looking for Roblox promo codes? There are all sorts of promo codes from Roblox events and giveaways out there, that grant you free virtual goods like clothes and items. No need to fork out cash for accessories; new codes are added all the time, so you can keep your Roblox character looking fresh. PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 12:32 PM Getting stuck in games is no fun, and Steam guides have long been a handy tool for everything from bug workarounds to collectible hunting. While we'd of course encourage you to come to PCGamesN for everything from Fortnite Kamehameha locations to Minecraft enchantments, the user-created guides integrated into the Steam Community page are a quickly accessible tool that can often prove very helpful in a pinch. However, many users say that the feature is now plagued with joke entries and people attempting to farm awards for Steam Points. Steam Points can be earned by purchasing games, add-ons, and other related content through the Steam store. You can use them to buy various items in the Steam Points shop - these are mostly cosmetics that can be used to customise your Steam profile page and avatar, as well as chat effects and emoticons that you can use while talking to other users on Steam. Steam Points can be given to other players as 'awards' - this is typically done as thanks for a helpful guide or review. Steam Points are also often handed out for funny content. As such, users say that the Steam guides section is now full to bursting with a plethora of joke guides hoping to nab some Steam Points awards from other players. From Counter-Strike: GO guides mocking Valve's anti-cheat service entitled 'How does VAC work' (the body text reading 'it doesn't') to numerous 'How to jump/walk/shoot' entries that simply list the appropriate button to press, often in a slightly over-elaborate manner, the Steam guides section is now a swamp of entries that aren't actually useful, even when they are amusing. PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 12:31 PM Looking for a list of the best games like Among Us? There's nothing that brings a group of buddies together like trying to figure out which of you is secretly trying to brutally murder everyone else. Social deduction games - or traitor games, imposter games, please-don't-take-this-stabbing-personally games - however, you choose to describe them, they're all about throwing a hidden baddie into a group of people and watching the social carnage play out as everyone becomes suspicious of one another. As a traitor, your job is not only to commit horrible crimes while nobody is looking while also to manipulate your friends into blaming each other for the nefarious deed. You'll need to lie convincingly and think ahead to conjure up alibis and a plan of attack to be the last one standing. It's common for social deduction games to feature meetings of some kind, where everyone gathers to discuss who to ostracize or execute. If you're under suspicion without a robust defence, this could be your downfall - but you can also lead the witch hunt against an innocent, making your job even easier. Not only are you out there killing them, but sometimes they kill each other for you. So you could say your two weapons are blabbing and stabbing. Talking and stalking? PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 12:25 PM Disney Dreamlight Valley crudites are crucial to rescuing Minnie from the Forgetting, as is the fish sandwich recipe - apparently raw vegetables and fried fish are good in a crisis. While this is predominantly a life sim and our Dreamlight Valley guide for beginners can help with that aspect, there's an important story at hand too in this Disney game, as some familiar faces have been lost to the Forgetting. As you get to know Mickey better through the Missing Minnie quest, you learn that he's missing his sweetheart and it's up to you to cheer him up by doing one of Minnie's favourite things - having a picnic. Any good picnic needs good food, so you must rustle up two of the cute mouse's favourites: crudites and fish sandwiches. Mickey won't just give you the recipe though, you'll have to figure it out yourself - just like the Disney Dreamlight Valley ratatouille recipe. If you're struggling, here's how to make Disney Dreamlight Valley crudites and fish sandwiches. |
PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 12:24 PM Oculus Quest 2 refresh rate changes are coming, as Meta is about to make 120Hz a default setting. PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 12:30 PM Genshin Impact banners adhere to a pretty regular schedule. Each update arrives with a new banner (or two) that lasts three weeks, followed by a second phase of banners which also lasts three weeks (barring any delays), at which point a new major update will drop. Wondering what the next Genshin Impact banner is? We never know the exact details until banners are officially announced during the livestreams that precede each update. Occasionally, banners don't stick to the typical schedule - most notably, update 1.3 had three two-week banners, so that Hu Tao's banner didn't cross over with the Chinese New Year. We also know that, for Genshin Impact 3.0 through 3.2 at least, these versions will last five weeks instead of six, so each phase will be shorter. Every limited-time character banner - or Event Wish - contains a five-star character, and three four-star characters with increased drop rates. There's also a Weapon banner - Epitome Invocation - which runs alongside each character banner, which changes weapons every update. Here's everything you need to know about the current and upcoming Genshin Impact banners. RELATED LINKS: Genshin Impact codes, Genshin Impact character tier list, Genshin Impact leveling guide |
PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 12:10 PM Want to know more about the upcoming Genshin Impact events? A new version of Genshin Impact arrives every six weeks, complete with new characters, quests, and events. It's difficult to keep track of which events are currently running and if there are any new ones coming soon, so here's a schedule for all current and upcoming Genshin Impact events. There are usually a number of Genshin Impact events running simultaneously, and they aren't just in-game events. When a new Genshin Impact character joins the game, the devs launch a web event at the same time - players learn about the latest characters through an interactive story told through a web browser. The rewards for completing different events range from in-game items like primogems and mora, to real life prizes like mouse mats and plushies. Just like the Genshin Impact banners, most events are only available for a limited time, so it's worth participating as soon as you can. New events are usually added to Genshin Impact after an update, but it's worth keeping an eye out on this page as the devs do like to surprise the community. PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 11:59 AM A recent Genshin Impact leak has provided a sort of preview for the major Mondstadt event that will supposedly arrive in the RPG game's next big update, Genshin Impact 3.1. It seems that the event will be called Of Ballads and Brews, and will feature a number of mini-games that focus on Mondstadt's wildlife and food-related specialties. Given the name, it should come as no surprise that Venti, the often-drunk bard, is set to make an appearance as well. PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 11:58 AM Otherwise known as Artificial Island, Tower of Fantasy 1.5 is the first major update for the global version of Hotta Studio's anime game since launch – and it's a big one. Not only can we anticipate a whole new addition to the Tower of Fantasy map to explore, but the brand-new home system feature will also ensure a place to rest your wandering feet at the end of the day. What's more, the upcoming Claudia banner heralds the global release of the simulacrum of the same name, which is sure to shake up your current team composition. The mysterious Artificial Island is billed by Hotta Studio as an uncharted wonderland, but we already have some idea of what we might expect from Tower of Fantasy 1.5. Without further ado, here's everything we know about the update so far. RELATED LINKS: Tower of Fantasy codes, Tower of Fantasy characters, How to level up in Tower of Fantasy |
PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 11:42 AM Looking for Genshin Impact codes? MiHoYo's charming open-world game is notoriously easy to lose yourself in, and if you're like us, you're constantly looking out for more Genshin Impact primogems and other handy consumables. Gathering currency in Genshin Impact can be quite the grind - while you can earn mora and primogems by completing quests such as daily commissions, an injection of extra funds will always be gratefully received. Fortunately, the developers MiHoYo occasionally send out free gifts in the form of Genshin Impact codes that can be redeemed online. These Genshin Impact codes are released periodically, frequently appearring in MiHoYo's special programs that reveal information about future updates coming to the game soon, but also to celebrate milestones or to coincide with new Genshin Impact events. Most codes also only work for a limited time - so it's a good idea to redeem them as soon as possible in case you miss out. Codes can only be redeemed once per account. Here are all the current Genshin Impact codes for September 2022, and how to redeem them. RELATED LINKS: Genshin Impact codes, Genshin Impact character tier list, Genshin Impact leveling guide |

PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 10:15 AM Starfield planets and Starfield locations have already been partially revealed, with over 1,000 different environments supposedly explorable in the upcoming RPG from Fallout and Skyrim developer Bethesda. PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 10:02 AM The Football Manager 2023 release date is set for November, with the latest entry in a series long recognised as one of the best management games being officially unveiled in a new announcement trailer. The Sports Interactive series took up its mantle as Football Manager in 2005 following a break-up with the publishers of SI's former game, Championship Manager, Eidos Interactive. Since, then, it's gone from strength to strength and is beloved as one of the best football games around. If you're into Sports Interactive's take on the managerial side of the footballing world, then you're almost certainly the type to dig deep into stats. You're in luck, then, because the FM23 announcement trailer blazes through some of the most compelling statistics racked up during the 21/22 season by fans of Football Manager 2022, kicking off with a rather staggering 402 million total matches played and going on from there. Football Manager 2023 releases on November 8, 2022. It'll be available on Steam, the Epic Games store, and the Xbox store alongside consoles and mobile. FM23 will also be available on PC Game Pass from day one, so subscribers to Microsoft's service will be able to jump in and get their management fix right from the get-go for no additional charge. Players can also pre-purchase the game to get 20% off and early access, which SI estimates "should be available two weeks prior to full release." |

PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 10:00 AM League of Legends skins will be taking a decidedly scary turn in the next patch with the release of Fright Night - a skin line that takes more than a few pointers from movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice. PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 9:44 AM Nvidia PC game bundles are back with a vengeance, as you'll get a free copy of Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered with certain RTX purchases for a limited time. There are a couple of caveats to this, as it's only available at participating retailers and includes the GeForce RTX 3080, 3080 Ti, 3090, 3090 Ti graphics cards, gaming PCs, or laptops. If you're in the market for the entry-level RTX 3060 or mid-range RTX 3070, you'll unfortunately have to deal with a spider-shaped hole in your Steam library. PCGamesN Thursday, September 8, 2022 9:09 AM Disney Dreamlight Valley system requirements match the game's lighthearted nature, and you won't need the best graphics card to dive into the life sim adventure. Developers Gameloft says it'll even run on an Nvidia GPU from over 14 years ago, so you'll be able to hang with Mickey, Donald, and Goofy on the crustiest of cheap gaming PC builds. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, September 8, 2022 3:53 PM Eidos Montreal, the studio behind recent Thief and Deus Ex games, say they are "now the owner of the games [we] developed, like the Deus Ex and Thief games." Likewise, Crystal Dynamics say they have taken "control" of its Tomb Raider and Legacy Of Kain games from their previous owner, Square Enix. Which sounds like a big deal, but really both studios are just reporting a change to their terms of service and privacy notices since they were bought by Embracer Group last month. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, September 8, 2022 2:30 PM Do you ever feel like you're sitting down with a game like a worried parent, saying "I just don't know what to do with you?" Because that's how I feel about Phoenix Point after the last few months of playing it on and off. I've definitely enjoyed it more than on its release in 2019, and its DLC adds more to think about and manage during what were once long lull periods. There's a lot to like about its final form. There's also a lot to... I don't quite want to say hate, but I'm also not quite sure why. It's one of the most evenly mixed bags I've ever rummaged around in. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, September 8, 2022 11:47 AM Speedrun charity fest organisers Games Done Quick have revealed the dates for winter's Awesome Games Done Quick event, and noted that it'll once again be held online rather than in-person. They'll be bringing the speedruns from January 8th to 15th this time around. AGDQ 2023 had originally been planned to take place in Florida, but that's scrapped due to the state's attitudes towards COVID-19 and LGBTQ+ people. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, September 8, 2022 11:00 AM We enter the new pod-century on the Electronic Wireless Show podcast a man down, as Matthew won't be here for a few weeks. Not to worry, though, as myself and Nate are ever ready to hold down the fort. This week we're talking about our favourite cinematics in video games, a fitting subject because last weekend I saw the greatest piece of cinema yet conceived by man: Michael Flatley's Blackbird. I do spend quite a lot of time explaining Blackbird to Nate, but after that we do talk about some cutscenes and cinematics in games (as well as litigating the difference between the two, and Nate tries to remember the first time he saw a cutscene in a game that was in-engine rather than being pre-rendered). And today the Cavern Of Lies is a Cavern Of Justice, after we received a troubling missive from one [squints] Brond Coatwear? |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, September 8, 2022 10:30 AM I saw a panel of thriller authors a couple of months back and one of them made reference to "the fat chapter", and the others all went "Ohhhh, yes, the fat chapter!". Thriller writers deal in short, snappy chapters, and the fat chapter is the one that ends up getting a load of events or exposition shoved into it, somewhere in the second half, because they wouldn't fit anywhere else. Every year in games there's a fat month, where loads of games come out and loads of them look really good and there is never enough time godammit. This year that month is September. There are so many games out this month that look so much my jam that I want to spread 'em on my morning toast, but September is also the month that a lot of RPS staff have holiday booked - including me, for two weeks, which means that if these games do get reviewed it probably won't be by me. But know that I have my beady little eyes on 'em. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, September 8, 2022 10:18 AM Football Manager 2023 starts its career on November 8th, publishers Sega have announced today, and it's also coming to Game Pass on launch day alongside its regular PC release. Put on your warmest big coat and take a glance at the stats-heavy trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, September 8, 2022 10:00 AM Temtem's inspiration has always been clear. We didn't beat around the bush when it entered early access back in 2020 - Cian Maher called it the best Pokemon game in years - and I won't beat around the bush now. It's still the best Pokemon game in years. It borrows so much from Nintendo's behemoth, but it also takes some much-needed lessons that Game Freak fails to recognise, taking the formula to its highest evolution yet. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, September 8, 2022 8:08 AM Monster-taming MMO Temtem just launched out of early access on PC earlier this week, but developers Crema have taken to Discord to defend the game's paid battle pass. Some players have been getting themselves very worked up over the inclusion of a paid pass in a full-priced game. Yet there's been a plan to include a battle pass in Temtem for years. Check out the game's launch trailer below while you wrap your head around it all. |

Siliconera Thursday, September 8, 2022 3:00 PM NIS America officially confirmed that Void Terrarium 2, sequel to the 2020 caregiving roguelike, is going west. At yesterday's NISA 2022 Showcase event it unveiled the global version of the game, formally titled void* tRrLM2();//Void Terrarium 2. It's set for a Spring 2023 release window. Check out its announcement trailer below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjMmO-4hFvI Void Terrarium 2 builds on the gameplay and concept of the original. You play Robbie, a robot tasked with keeping Toriko, the last living human, alive in a hostile and toxic environment. The previous villain, cloudAI, is defeated, but Toriko is threatened by something new: Disease. You'll need to plumb dungeons and explore your surroundings to bring Toriko the things she'll needs, like bugs to eat and ingredients for crafting. You'll also need to make sure her living space is safe and appropriately nurturing, a tough ask considering the circumstances. Toriko will help you clean up and make things liveable, but she's fragile. Fail to meet her needs and she can catch all manner of awful diseases or expire in heartbreaking ways. The game will receive a physical release on Switch and PS4, with Limited and Deluxe editions available on various retailers and the NISA Online Store. The Deluxe Edition comes with a mini art book and a digital soundtrack. Limited Edition will include the Deluxe Edition's goodies, plus a physical 1-disc soundtrack, a "Growing Together" acrylic standee, a "Friendly Faces" art card, and a collector's box with art of Toriko on the cover. Void Terrarium 2 is set for release in the Spring of 2023 on Switch and PS4. It's currently available in Japan. Check out Siliconera's official review of the first game. The RGG Summit 2022 event will take place on September 14, 2022, one day before the official start of the Tokyo Game Show 2022. It will be live streamed on the official SEGA Twitch channel. The event and live stream were also announced in a Twitter post from RGG Studio, which you can check out below. https://twitter.com/RGGStudio/status/1567830960133099520 After teasing a "sneak peek" for episode 12.5 of its RGG Studio TV broadcast, the company instead revealed it was more a peek at its TGS 2022 plans than a look at the next Yakuza title. No information has been given about the RGG Summit 2022 showcase contents yet, though it is speculated that Yakuza 8 will make an appearance. The previously announced sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon was further teased with in-development images back in July 2022. Little is known about the game other than that it will take place several years after the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon and continue the story of Ichiban Kasuga. RGG Summit 2022 will take place on September 14, 2022, at 7 PM JST (10 AM UTC/3 AM PT). The event will be live streamed on SEGA's Twitch channel. Siliconera Thursday, September 8, 2022 2:00 PM NIS America had some good news for shooter-lovers in its NISA 2022 Showcase last night. It announced the release date and details about Raiden IV x Mikado Remix, an enhanced remaster of the 2007 vertical shmup. Made compatible with modern consoles, the game arrives on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam on January 31, 2023 in North America, and in the first half of February in Europe and Australia/New Zealand. The game previously released for the Nintendo Switch in May 2021. Check out the trailer below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaqpdPb7B3o Raiden IV x Mikado Remix revives the Xbox 360/PS3-era scrolling shooter Raiden IV. Part of the venerable Raiden series, it first debuted in arcades, first as a 2D pixel-based game and now as a 3D title. As with shmups of the era, players pilot a fighter aircraft through clouds of foes, aiming to defeat the malevolent crystals in their invasion of Earth. Raiden IV contains a "Flash Shot" mechanic, which increases the player's score the more quickly they defeat enemies that appear on-screen. The "Double Play" feature allows a player to control both the Player One and Player Two ships with one controller. The game supports local 2-player co-op. Gameplay-wise, Raiden IV x Mikado Remix adds some new modes, including Light and Original difficulty settings, Additional Mode with remixed enemy positioning, Score Attack, Boss Rush, and Overkill Mode, which includes two new stages and revamped scoring. The "Mikado Remix" part of the title refers to a partnership with Mikado Game Center, an institution in Japan's retro arcade and shmup subculture. Mikado Game Center branches in Takadanobaba and Ikebukuro specialize in retro titles and shmups, and hold regular community events. Minoru "IkedaMinoRock" Ikeda, the manager of Mikado Game Center, even plays in the official Raiden series band, Heavy Metal Raiden. As such, Raiden IV x Mikado Remix features a soundtrack from Mikado Game Center. The remixed soundtrack features pieces from artists like the Go Sato Band, O.T.K., Keishi Yonao, Fantom Iris, Daisuke Matusmoto, Hirokazu Koshio, and Soshi Hosoi, as well as Heavy Metal Raiden itself. Players can choose the remixed music or the original soundtrack as they please. Raiden IV x Mikado Remix launches on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC. It arrives on January 31, 2023 in North America, February 3, 2023 in Europe, and February 10, 2023 in Australia and New Zealand. It's currently available on Nintendo Switch. Special and Deluxe physical editions for consoles include soundtracks and posters. The post Raiden IV x Mikado Remix Flies in Early 2023 appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Thursday, September 8, 2022 1:00 PM The upcoming One Piece Film: Red crossover event in Granblue Fantasy will feature the entire Straw Hat Pirates crew. Cygames has been gradually revealing characters on its Japanese Twitter account, and it eventually confirmed that all active members of the group will appear in the event's storyline. The event begins next week, on September 14, 2022. Toei Animation first announced the Granblue Fantasy tie-in as one of the numerous mobile game crossovers One Piece Film: Red would have following its Japanese release. In early August 2022, Cygames revealed the first information wave for this crossover at the Summer 2022 Granblue Fantasy stream. The upcoming event will feature Luffy, Nami, and Robin as playable characters. The movie's heroine Uta will also appear as a summon. Since then, the Japanese Granblue Fantasy Twitter account has revealed more characters from One Piece Film: Red on a near-daily basis, starting with Usopp on September 2, 2022. The company then revealed Tony Tony Chopper, Franky, Brook, and Jimbe in the following days. The most recent reveals of Zoro and Sanji confirmed the completion of the current active roster of the Straw Hat Pirates. However, among the recently revealed crewmembers, only Zoro and Sanji are explicitly confirmed as playable characters. Cygames simply marked the other five members as "appearing characters" in its Japanese tweets. This could mean they're just part of the story and won't join the playable roster. By combining this with the previous information, the upcoming One Piece Film: Red crossover event will bring three playable units. There are the two duo units of Nico Robin & Nami and Roronoa Zoro and Sanji, and a standalone Monkey D. Luffy. [gallery ids="935025,935026,935027,935028,935029,935030" link="file"] Granblue Fantasy is available in on Android and iOS mobile devices in Japan, and PC via web browser. The game contains a full English localization option, though it's technically exclusive to Japan. The One Piece Film: Red crossover event will run on September 14-25, 2022. Siliconera Thursday, September 8, 2022 12:00 PM Ever since Anno: Mutationem debuted in 2019 as part of Sony's China Hero Project initiative, it has kept fans' interest through its unique cyberpunk aesthetic. Even after the neon-drenched "classical" cyberpunk style made something of a comeback in recent titles, its fusion of 2D pixel art and low-fi 3D models helped it stand out in an increasingly similar-looking field. Now that the game is out, developer ThinkingStars finally has the chance to prove that there's substance behind the style. If you've been following this game, you'll likely find its initial menu image (which I use above) pretty familiar: It was the most common picture available of Anno: Mutationem prior to release. It's an evocative setup, with protagonist Ann Flores perched like a race queen on a fancy LED-festooned car, backed by the neon glow of a thousand city signs. True, it's a very archetypal cyberpunk image, but the pleasure of actually playing the game is finding out there's a whole world and setting backing up the familiar, appealing vibe. Ann survives the troublesome day-to-day of Skopp City doing odd jobs and mercenary work. She's a bit of a lone wolf, usually operating solo and only accompanied by her partner Ayane, a genius hacker who appears mostly as a hologram. That distance doesn't tamp down on their relationship, and their banter and interactions are a much brighter highlight than any amount of detailed sci-fi lore. Ann is mostly stoic, and for good reason: She's a cybernetic combat specialist suffering from an enigmatic condition called "Entanglelitis" that causes her to go berserk and hurt anyone near her. Good in a brawl, bad for society. But her interactions with Ayane really soften Ann's stony exterior, making both of them more appealing. It's all sold quite effectively by their voice performances and cutesy animations. Their bond also makes the main narrative of Anno: Mutationem easier to be present for. There's a lot of detail to the Skopp City setting, referenced in dialog and scattered about in collectibles, but it's not always easy to parse. Details have a habit of flying over the player's head (or my head, at least), and some story threads that seem important fade into the background by the time you clear the campaign's twelve or so hours. [gallery columns="4" ids="935161,935162,935163,935164" link="file"] This isn't helped by the fact that, at least in handheld mode, the game's text is difficult to read. Anno: Mutationem suffers from that tendency of Switch ports not to scale their UI for the size of the screen in handheld mode, which makes for a lesser experience when playing portably. Thus I recommend enjoying the game docked, if you can. I also noticed that loading times were noticeably longer on Switch than when compared to my brief tests on the PC and PS4 versions of the game. They're not egregiously long, but definitely longer. The game runs just fine, otherwise, though. Gameplay in Anno: Mutationem is divided between combat and non-combat sections. In non-combat sections, Ann can freely explore the area, in a 2D/3D side-scrolling hybrid style. This is where most of the story happens, with side quests, cutscenes, dialog, and even mini-games. Ann can play little video games, hack doors and locks, and even sling drinks at a bar, complete with cheeky references to cyberpunk fellow traveler VA-11 Hall-A. Combat takes place in a side-scrolling platform action style. Players will guide Ann through stages and slice through enemies with combinations of guns and melee weaponry. There's a bit of strategy to scanning foes and finding out the right weapon needed to breach their defenses, and it can get pretty hectic when lots of enemies are on screen at once. Sometimes this causes problems, as you'll occasionally want to aim at a flying or hovering drone-type foe, only to waste precious gun ammo shooting at the nearest baddie instead. The combat is undergirded by a crafting and upgrade system, but in honesty this aspect feels undercooked. Everything's way too expensive, so by the time I finished the game I'd only accumulated enough resources to upgrade a couple of times. Anno: Mutationem might've been served better by a simpler system that simply doled out upgrades rather than letting players try to earn it through a system too deep for a game of this length and linearity. Ultimately, though, these are minor gripes. Anno: Mutationem is a gorgeous-looking sendup of classic cyberpunk anime, with a narrative, characters, and combat that easily backs up its stunning aesthetic and visuals. Anno: Mutationem is available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. The post Review: Anno: Mutationem is a Moody Cyberpunk Sendup on Switch appeared first on Siliconera. |

Summer Time Rendering: Another Horizon will appear on the PS4 and Switch. The company also revealed a new key visual featuring the franchise's two main characters, Shinpei Ajiro and Ushio Kofune. The Japanese voice actors Natsuki Hanae and Anna Nagase will return to reprise their roles for both characters. The game's genre will be "time leap adventure." The last word practically confirms that this title will be a visual novel. MAGES is known for releasing visual novels like Steins;Gate and Anonymous;Code. Summer Time Rendering appeared first as a web manga that Yasuki Tanaka published on Shonen Jump+ from 2017 to 2021. Udon began releasing English localizations of the manga in late May 2022. Siliconera Thursday, September 8, 2022 10:00 AM Megahouse will open up pre-orders for a Digimon Tamers Sakuyamon figure. Pre-orders will open from September 9 and will last until early December 2022. The figure has a release window of late August 2023, and it will cost 24,200 JPY. That converts to approximately $169.30. This Sakuyamon figure is part of Megahouse's G.E.M. series. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!] As a G.E.M. figure, you will not be able to change the pose. The figure stands at around 280 millimeters tall. Sakuyamon is holding her Kongou Shakujou staff, and she looks like she has just landed on the ground after a jump. Though the fire underneath her do not have a particularly fox-like shape, they are likely Sakuyamon's kuda-gitsune. Here are some more pictures of the Digimon Tamers Sakuyamon G.E.M. figure: [gallery columns="5" ids="935110,935111,935112,935113,935114" link="file"] Sakuyamon is not the first Digimon that Megahouse has released a figure for. There is also a G.E.M. figure of Impmon and Beelzemon, who are also from Tamers. Though not from Tamers, Taichi and Greymon from Adventure will be available for pre-order from November 2022. This is also a G.E.M. series figure. Sakuyamon debuted in the anime as the Mega form of Renamon from Digimon Tamers. In the lore of Digimon Tamers, Mega Pokemon are when a human and a Digimon biomerge. So in the show, Sakuyamon is actually a combination between Renamon and her partner, Rika. Sakuyamon has also appeared in games like Digimon World 3 and Digimon World: Dawn and Dusk. The Sakuyamon G.E.M. figure from Megahouse will be available for pre-order from September 9 to December 2022. Siliconera Thursday, September 8, 2022 9:00 AM Level-5 and GungHo Online Entertainment announced that they will shut down Yo-kai Watch World on December 23, 2022, at noon in Japan's time zone. The companies have already removed real money purchases from the outgoing mobile game. They will also stop holding quests after November 30, 2022. On the same day the game's server goes offline, Level-5 and GungHo will update the separately available Yo-kai Encyclopedia app. This will allow existing players to review their collected items and take new pictures of the yokai. The companies will cease all support related to the game on February 21, 2023, by taking down both the official website and the Encyclopedia app from the public. Yo-kai Watch World is a location-based mobile game where players must travel in real life to encounter and collect yokai in a similar fashion to Pokemon GO. The mobile game launched in late June 2018. The title is only available in Japan, but it compensates for that by showing elaborate buildings and landmarks on the map. The Yo-kai Watch mobile game had a good reception during its launch year, and it was also one of the Most Creative Games winners in Google Play's Best of 2018 Awards. The game's operation team celebrated the title's fourth anniversary in June 2022 and had been regularly holding monthly events as recent as August 2022 before today's end-of-service announcement. Yo-kai Watch World is available on iOS and Android mobile devices in Japan until December 23, 2022. The post Yo-kai Watch World Will Shut Down in December 2022 appeared first on Siliconera. |

PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, September 8, 2022 3:05 PM Gizmo isn't the only thing shaking up the latest MultiVersus patch. With this new playable character comes an update to MultiVersus' hitbox/hurtbox systems. This overhaul changes the way your attacks register on opponents, allowing your attacks to land more accurately land. Previously, character hitboxes were not actually tied to their moves. These changes should make the game feel more responsive when playing, especially if you've ever wondered why an attack didn't land… Or maybe did land? As mentioned, hurtboxes on characters did not accurately tie to the animations of each move. Instead, the hurtbox was placed in a general area surrounding the character as they performed a move, whether that be an attack or a defensive option. With this new patch, every character has received a hurtboxes update. Moving forward, hurtboxes will surround the entirety of the character at all times. You can see an example of this in the image below. My attacks will fi... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, September 8, 2022 2:30 PM Believe it or not, the Yakuza series was once considered relatively niche as far as open-world action games go. But thanks to some strong recent releases, it has skyrocketed in popularity in the west. The latest game in the series, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, received an overall positive critical reception. Now, Yakuza developer, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has announced the RRG Summit, a gaming showcase that will take place next week on September 14. The developer has not yet stated how long the stream will run, but it could show several games during the showcase. It's worth noting that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced this information on its western Twitter account. This hints towards the event containing information intended for a worldwide audience and not only its Japanese player base. Exploring more of Japan When it comes to potential game reveals and updates, it seems likely that the sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon will appear. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, September 8, 2022 2:00 PM There's no denying that image upscaling techniques are some of the trendiest graphical features advertised in modern gaming. Since the latest technologies like DLSS and FSR are still fairly new, it's common to hear about frequent updates that improve image quality and general performance. In that spirit, AMD has released an update for its image upscaling tech with FSR 2.1. This update reduces ghosting in several areas and improves the quality of the upscaled image. It also fixes some smaller bugs that haven't been squashed yet. AMD's FSR 2.1 is shown off in the blog post with Farming Simulator 22. While this may not be the most action-packed game, it does make for a good test bed to show off the update's improvements. The screenshot showcasing the old version of FSR has plenty of noticeable ghosting, and produces a final image of average quality. The FSR 2.1 image is much better comparatively speaking, and has less ghosting and looks clearer. This is thank... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, September 8, 2022 1:00 PM Electronic Arts has officially announced that a new, narrative-driven Battlefield campaign is in the works. Earlier today, the publisher announced that Ridgeline Games, a new studio led by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, is taking charge of the project. Along with Lehto, the new developer has brought in "industry veterans from around the world" to "invest in the future of the franchise." The announcement confirms recent rumblings surrounding job postings by the publisher. While the new studio appears to have ended up in Kirkland, Washington rather than Seattle, the goals are the same. Ridgeline represents EA's promise to turn the Battlefield franchise around. We still have yet to see what DICE can do with the multiplayer component. However, the new Battlefield campaign sounds like something EA and Ridgeline will pour a lot of effort into. "It is a great honor to have the opportunity to collaborate with DICE and Ripple Effect and lead the charge on e... |

However, details have emerged that go beyond what could be in store in the near future, as a leak has reportedly revealed the release date for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 5. Prominent industry insider, Tom Henderson, has supposedly leaked the potential release date for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 5.
