Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, September 19, 2023 6:00 AM I am in control of the RPS Game Club this month, so therefore I can do whatever I want - and this time I'm delving into the world of Hypnospace Outlaw's music. No other game sounds like Hypnospace. Featuring a veritable mountain of tracks (most of which was composed by the game's creator, Jay Tholen), Hypnospace's extensive catalogue stretches across genres both real and imaginary. While Seepage's Nothing Left For Me is a clear pastiche of Linkin Park, Fre3zer's Icy Girl is a purposefully poor attempt to mimic Coolpunk, a genre built upon remixes of a jingle for a discontinued soda brand. The most exciting thing about Hypnospace is that its soundtrack is so dense and complex that there's opportunity to hyperfocus on one particular area to an intense - even problematic - degree. Enter The Chowder Man, a stetson wearing Kid Rock analogue who makes frequent appearances throughout Hypnospace. A prominent rock musician in the 80s, Erik Helman (portrayed beautifully by musician, comedian and inventor of the Rick Roll Hot Dad) is attempting a last-ditch revival after his music career flatlined, transforming him from Jagger-esque superstar to sold-out jingle writer. The Chowder Man's in-game discography is strange and varied, spanning from glorious rock ballads to 22 second earworms about a microwavable butter-based dessert. Totalling ten tracks, I have decided that it is my duty - nay, my fate - to rank and review them in their entirety. So let us commence this spiritual journey together, my friends, into the complex mind of The Chowder Man. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, September 19, 2023 5:40 AM What does the future hold for ZeniMax and Bethesda? A sizeable helping of the same, if a 2020-dated release schedule leaked as part of today's accidental FTC Microsoft court document blowout is to be believed. The document is from a July 2020 Microsoft presentation about the acquisition of ZeniMax, during the early months of the Covid pandemic - as such, it doesn't reflect Microsoft and ZeniMax's plans today, following global lockdowns and the buyout, and several of the dates are obviously bogus. Still, it's probably a good steer as to current and future Bethesda and ZeniMax projects, which may include Dishonored 3 and remasters of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, September 19, 2023 3:38 AM In the latest unredacted document oopsie stemming from the US Federal Trade Commission's efforts to stop Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard, an email from Microsoft gaming CEO Phil Spencer has surfaced in which he discusses the idea of buying Nintendo. The email was sent 6th August 2020 to Microsoft's current chief marketing officer Chris Capossela and commercial chief marketing officer Takeshi Numoto. It begins with Spencer speculating that Nintendo may be receptive to approaches, thanks to one of Microsoft's allies, San Fran investment fund ValueAct, buying up Nintendo stock and so, attempting to steer the company's board towards accepting an acquisition. "Takesji, I totally agree that Nintendo is THE prime asset for us in Gaming and today Gaming is our most likely path to consumer relevance," the email begins. |

Kyoto Rikyuen announced it will release three original tea blends based on Fate/Grand Order. The behind-the-scenes lore for the teas is that Sen no Rikyu produced the teas, which draw inspiration from Ashiya Douman, Katsushika Hokusai, and Morgan le Fay. The teas will all cost 7,700 JPY ($52.15) and they'll come in a special box with the character on the sleeve.
Pre-orders for the Fate/Grand Order tea will last until October 10, 2023. They'll ship out starting from December 2023. The boxes will come with two teas: the signature character tea and a basic black hojicha. The Ashiya Douman tea is a hojicha with burdock in it while the Hokusai tea is a konbu one. This is a reference to the Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji painting, which also serves as her Noble Phantasm. Finally, the Morgan tea is an apple tea blended into a Japanese black tea.
Lasengle first revealed the Kyoto Rikyuen and Fate/Grand Order tea blends during Kyomafu 2023. Aside from tea leaves, there will also be merchandise of Ashiya Douman, Hokuai, and Morgan. During Kyomafu 2023, Lasengle also announced a playable version of Wandjina, who will be the star of the limited Wandjina World Tour event.
Fate/Grand Order is readily available on mobile devices. You can purchase the Kyoto Rikyuen Fate/Grand Order teas via the company's official site, which does not natively offer international shipping. The Wandjina World Tour event will start from September 20, 2023, which will also be Wandjina's playable debut.

And with the Phantom Liberty DLC arriving in just over a week, the game's reputation has the potential to improve even further. But whether you already own the base game or plan to buy it alongside the DLC, you might wonder how CD Projekt Red chose to price the expansion. Ideally, Phantom Liberty would come as a free update to Cyberpunk 2077, potentially saving customers a good bit of money. But will it actually become possible to get a hold of it without spending anything? Can you get the DLC for free? You may have already expected this, but the Phantom Liberty DLC will, in fact, not come free of charge. Once it drops, Phantom Liberty will boast a standard retail price of $29.99 USD on top of the $59.99 you pay for the base game.
