Kotaku Sunday, March 3, 2024 9:15 AM It was a rather big week in gaming, this last one in February—mostly because we got Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, and everyone came out of the woodwork to spout their hottest take and spiciest opinion about the Square Enix RPG. Is Cid redeemed? Is Aerith a goat lady? Is jank good? |
PCGamesN Sunday, March 3, 2024 1:38 PM With FF14 Dawntrail ferrying us off to new lands, and a fresh adventure kicking off following the conclusion of an overarching decade-long story arc in previous expansion Endwalker, there's certain to be somewhat of a new tone in store for long-standing players of the best MMORPG around right now. FF14 patch 6.55 gave us a first taste of that with the introduction of newcomer Wuk Lamat and our primary reason for journeying to Tural, so PCGamesN sat down with English localization lead Kate Cwynar to talk about the process of putting that first foot forward for a new expansion and the response from fans. PCGamesN Sunday, March 3, 2024 12:18 PM League of Legends now has a ridiculous 167 champions available to play on Summoner's Rift. And, only naturally, some of those champions don't receive the same love and attention as some of the more popular money-printing champions do (I'm looking at you, Ezreal, Leona, and Lux). Rek'Sai is certainly in the camp of ignored champions; however, LoL developers Riot saw to it that Reksai received a minor rework to her abilities to bring her up to date in patch 14.4. When her win rate and play rate barely moved, the devs decided it was time for some major buffs. PCGamesN Sunday, March 3, 2024 11:33 AM Lords of the Fallen is one of the more popular soulslike games to release over the last few years. The original, released back in 2014 with the exact same name, was one of the first to be born directly from the popularity of the craze that Dark Souls and Demon's Souls brought to the gaming world, attempting to emulate the combat with its own slight alterations. Now, 2023's Lords of the Fallen can be yours with a huge discount for players looking for another soulslike to dive into. PCGamesN Sunday, March 3, 2024 10:55 AM Payday 3 has largely been ignored by the dedicated Payday community of players. Developer Starbreeze Studios launched the game back in September 2023 to lackluster sales, and many Payday fans continued to play Payday 2 over the most recent entry in the series. Now, the studio has put out a dev blog detailing exactly what they see the problems are with Payday 3, and how they plan on approaching fixing them in future updates. PCGamesN Sunday, March 3, 2024 10:42 AM The new Warhammer Vermintide 2 versus mode is an exciting addition to one of the PC's most gloriously hectic co-op games, and its initial round of closed alpha testing has gone so well that you'll be able to give it a try very soon. First teased several years ago by developer Fatshark and finally on the brink of arrival, the versus mode follows in the footsteps of multiplayer greats such as Left 4 Dead 2 and Dead Space 2, allowing you to take on other players on both sides of the asymmetrical conflict between the Heroes of Ubersreik and the Skaven. PCGamesN Sunday, March 3, 2024 10:19 AM Don't call it a comeback, but it certainly has become the most famous one: Cyberpunk 2077 has been revived by the developers multiple times over, with both post-launch patches and DLC drops including the mega-hit Phantom Liberty expansion. However, one of the main contributing factors to keeping a steady player base all these years later is dedicated fans dropping invaluable mods that improve the game massively. Here, we have one mod that aims to make the game look that much better. PCGamesN Sunday, March 3, 2024 9:26 AM Despite the launch of Starfield and big updates to No Man's Sky, Star Citizen, and Stellaris over the course of last year, 2023's best space game, and the one that won my heart, was a smaller name. Everspace 2 delivers space combat the way you imagine it in your head - fast, frantic, and furious. Its sense of exploration and loot-driven RPG systems mean it has as much in common with games like Diablo 4 and Last Epoch as it does Bethesda's interstellar epic, and as we await the next big free update coming in spring, developer Rockfish Games appeases us with a look at some of the legendary gear coming our way for us to upgrade our ship with. PCGamesN Sunday, March 3, 2024 9:12 AM Helldivers 2 is arguably the biggest hit of the year so far in the gaming world. The third-person shooter has exploded in popularity with its over-the-top comedy and fast-paced gameplay, leading many fans to become feverishly loyal to the game quite rapidly. As we know in gaming, practicing diehard loyalty to a specific game or platform can breed toxicity, and now the CEO of developer Arrowhead Game Studios and creative director of Helldivers 2 Johan Pilestedt has called out specific fans who have voiced divisive opinions comparing the game to its contemporaries on opposing platforms. Innovation has become a key formula for Nintendo when it comes to creating their consoles. From the Super Nintendo to the Wii, the much less successful WiiU console, and the Switch, the developer and publisher has created some of the best and most memorable consoles. We've listed what we feel are the best of the best in Nintendo's history.
While the 3DS takes the cake for my personal favorite Nintendo console, I think the Wii (the original one) was the best console that it put out just for how innovative it was. It really felt like a new era of video games with all the new play styles the built-in motion controls introduced. While it was janky for sure and some of the games that tried way too hard to make use of them sometimes fell flat, the jump from the GameCube to the Wii was something I won't ever forget. It really showcased that creative Nintendo spirit. — Stephanie
I also have to go with the Wii, simply because of its interesting and experimental catalogue. Namely, the Operation Rainfall games, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower still hold a special place in my heart. But it would be a diservice to the console to ignore other titles like Muramasa: The Demon Blade or Fragile Dreams. All in all, without the Wii we would have never gotten what the Xenoblade Chronicles series is nowadays, and for that it has to be my number 1. — Daniel
If we are only talking about consoles, then I think the Switch is it for me. We're seeing such a wide range of games on it. I love the ability to play at home on a big screen or on the go in handheld mode. It being region-free is also a huge plus. Though at this point, so many games get localized that I don't feel like I need to import as often. — Jenni

The official flagship Genshin Impact store on Taobao is offering a Blubberbeast itabag. It costs 169 CNY, which is approximately $23.50. [Thanks, Heiankyo_327]
You'll be able to order the Genshin Impact Blubberbeast itabag from March 4, 2024. As a note, you will not be able to see a lot of images or information on the item unless you have a Taobao account or the app. The Blubberbeast itabag looks like all of your toys and badges are inside of a bubble that the Blubberbeast is leaning on. You're able to use the long arms of the Blubberbeast to hug around your waist, both for the aesthetics and also as extra support.
Blubberbeasts in Genshin Impact first appeared from Fontaine, and you can find them in both the water and on land. If you attack them on land, they won't really do anything to defend themselves. Perhaps this, as well as their chubby designs, is part of why they are very popular creatures in the new world.
Other pieces of official merchandise for Genshin Impact includes Sushiro collaboration items that you can get in Japan. These items include acrylic stands and plates. HoYoVerse is also collaborating with OnePlus on a Keqing edition of a OnePlus12R phone.
Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.

Persona 6 will inevitably come out at some point (hopefully sooner than later). When it does, Atlus will have a massive legacy to live up to considering the progress shown in Persona 5 Royal and Persona 3 Reload. That said, there are some lessons it can learn from the recent Persona 3 remake's mistakes and victories that will set it up for the best possible success.
One way it can succeed is by exploring a darker storyline. The story of Persona 3 Reload still remains my favorite in the series. Sure, it has its fair share of gameplay issues, especially in the repetitive Tartarus, but its plot is the best. It's dark, sinister, and depressing at times. This grim tone works well for the game, and it could for the sixth entry in the series as well.
I don't expect the new game's story to be too dark, but it should strike the right balance between the lighthearted moments of games like Persona 4 and the darker parts of this remake, with a slight edge given to the darker side.
A complicated cast of characters could also help a new entry in the series succeed. I still stand by my assertion that Persona 3 Reload has the best overall cast of characters. I appreciate and enjoy each and everyone of them, which I can't say about the fourth and fifth entries. It benefits from how complex the cast is, and how much certain members don't really like each other. Persona 6 could use another cast that cares enough about one another, but doesn't overdose on feel-good familial vibes all the time.
This goes for the villains as well. Strega and that one twist villain are the best villains in the series by a long shot. They provide the ultimate foil to the core cast, while feeling menacing and complex as well. I care about the villains just as much as the core cast, which I can't say for any villain in Persona 4 or the various targets in Persona 5.
I'll be the first to admit I am saddened by Persona 3 Reload's canonization of that certain character death. However, I respect it. That installment featured storyline twists and deaths that mattered. That decision makes the plot more emotional and the payoff worth it. The next game in the series should follow this trend by allowing party members to die again. I think it would be cool to see your first party member be the one to perish or even make the player choose between the earliest two party members to save later in the story.
More importantly, I want to see more of the aftermath of these decisions and twists. Don't just have the team nearly instantly recover from the death, but have them go through a month or so in-game where they all struggle mentally. Maybe even have the party members' social links be quite literally closed off for that time period, so the player has to pursue other relationships in the meantime.
Finally, the biggest mistake Atlus made with Persona 3 Reload is not including the female protagonist option. This could have been the ultimate version of one of my favorite games of all time, but the company chose not to include it. Persona 6 needs to be the time where a female main character finally comes to the forefront. This could be either with just a single main character who's a girl or the option to play as a boy or girl.
So much potential would open up, such as romance options, story beats, and perspective. The next game in the series has taken so long to come out that having both a female and male main character would help make up for that. Here's hoping that is finally an option again for the next core game in this phenomenal Atlus series.
Persona 3 Reload is available right now for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Sony Music Entertainment announced that Prism Project will cease operations from March 31, 2024. The website did not mention the reason behind its closure.
According to the statement, Prism Project will cease to exist from March 31, 2024, and all of the VTubers will become independent from April 1, 2024. They will be able to keep their current identities. So if, for example, you're a big fan of Tsubame Kou, you will still be able to follow her and she will retain the exact same model, name, and story. They will also keep their current YouTube channels and other social media accounts.
As for the transfer process, Sony encourages fans of the group's VTubers to pay attention to their favorite talents' streams and social medias. This is so that they know what their future plans on. The official accounts will remain as an archive even after March 31, 2024. Sony adds that fans don't ask the talents about this closure, and to e-mail management directly.
Prism Project started in 2021 and became partners with Sony Music Entertainment Japan from 2022. It debuted seven generations of VTubers since it began. As of the time of writing, there are around twenty VTubers with Sony Music Entertainment.
Prism Project will cease operations from March 31, 2024, with all the VTubers going indie under their current identities and models.

FF7: Rebirth How to get 3 Star Performances in the Junon Parade Screenshot: PC Invasion Your first task as an undercover Shinra Captain is to rally troops around the area. You technically only need to find five soldiers to advance the story, but you'll need all ten to get the 3-star performances. Fortunately, the search area is pretty small. Eight soldiers are around the shopping area, and you can find the remaining two outdoors. Finding all ten may seem like a drag, but you'll earn the "7th, Assemble!" Trophy/Achievement for your efforts. Once you've found every soldier, I recommend saving your game before speaking to the Commander.
