Kotaku Tuesday, June 4, 2024 9:30 AM Unless you've been living under a rock on Exegol for the last month, you've probably heard of YouTuber Jenny Nicholson's viral, four-hour-long video reviewing the Star Wars hotel, officially known as Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Titled "The Spectacular Failure of the Star Wars Hotel," it goes into excruciating… |
Kotaku Tuesday, June 4, 2024 9:00 AM Amazon Prime clearly knows it's onto a good thing as it mines the seams of video games for new TV series. Falloutwas an astonishing success for the streamer, and you can only imagine how many meetings must have been held with every imaginable publisher for the last few months. One winner is Sega, with the… |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, June 4, 2024 9:30 AM I usually avoid writing sentences that could easily be quoted on a Steam page, but the exquisitely satisfying sound that Grunn's garden shears make is the exception. Please feel free to try any of these on for size: Grunn's shear sound is the Wilhelm Scream of gardening equipment, sure to be referenced for decades to come. Grunn's shear sound wormed its way past my eyes and into parts of my brain I'd previously assumed could only be accessed by either masterful ASMR or irresponsibly long Q-tips. I used to have anxiety, but now, my only fear in life is that Grunn's grass will run out, so I no longer have a reason to click away with its shears. Play Grunn, innit. There are, by the way, lots of other things to like about it, although I cannot hear them over the wonderful sound of these shears. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, June 4, 2024 9:22 AM It's been one month since the sound of engines began. The hardest track ever created in Trackmania was published by a team of mappers on May 4th, bringing an intimidating 16-floor tower called Deep Dip 2 into the racing game. It became a magnet for competitive drivers after a prize pool of over $30,000 was offered to the first three players to conquer its hellish heights. The prize has yet to be claimed. Even today, determined racers continue to bang their heads against the brutally designed course, featuring icy surfaces, curving rails, and perilous loop-the-loops that hang kilometres about the ground. Some players have parked their hopes and given up. But others persevere. The top three players have reached the final floor and currently stand shoulder to shoulder, eyes focused on the prize. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, June 4, 2024 8:17 AM If you heard loud swearing last night in the Watford area it may have been one of two things: 1) me cussing out my (borrowed) Steam Deck while stealthily accessing the wifi from outside a closed public library, as I don't currently have broadband at home, or 2) me subsequently trying to make head or tail of Mech Engineer, in which you take charge of a mobile undersea metropolis and send squads of painstakingly assembled robosoldiers to semi-auto-battle squidgy alien fauna. Engineering a mech is a Herculean labour whose completion eludes today's puny scientists, and Mech Engineer doesn't aim to make life easier, whatever its putative status as a "means of fun". Mech Engineer is a game with an attitude problem, frankly. I realised this on in-game day two, when the interface coughed up a bunch of damage reports presented as pieces of paper, which I then had to crumple up and toss away individually. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, June 4, 2024 7:00 AM Dwarven co-op caper Deep Rock Galactic has spent years raising the stakes. Where its offworld mining concern once dealt merely with steep drops and irate bugs, it's since had to face down the robotic army of a rival mineral corp and an omnicidal alien plague. If the subsequent question is "It used to be about the rocks, y'know?" then DRG's imminent Season 5 update, Drilling Deeper, is the answer. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, June 4, 2024 6:56 AM Amazon will air a live-action TV series based on Sega's Yakuza games in October this year, says the streaming service. Like A Dragon: Yakuza will be a six-part series following characters in the criminal underbelly of Kamurocho, set to straddle between two time periods: 1995 and 2005. The series "showcases modern Japan and the dramatic stories of these intense characters, such as the legendary Kazuma Kiryu, that games in the past have not been able to explore," said Amazon, who are releasing it through Prime Video, just like their Fallout series. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, June 4, 2024 4:55 AM We'll never know exactly what sort of fiction Tom Clancy would have written if he was less interested in the calibre of specific bullets and their effiency at dismantling burgeoning socialist governments, and more so in the specific sigils required to blast a riot cop through a third story window. While charity shops across the land mourn this devasting loss to their paperback shelves to this very day, we do at least have a glimpse into what such a literary venture may have looked like. Oh, did you like that door? Was it your favourite door? Soz, pal. Strategy game Tactical Breach Wizards just hexed right through it with a new demo as part of Steam Next Fest. I've played it, and it's very exciting stuff, not least for how differently it plays than what I'd expected. |

A new live-action Like a Dragon: Yakuza series will appear on Amazon Prime Video on October 24, 2024. Ryoma Takeuchi will star as Kiryu Kazuma.
This will be a six-part series, with the first half appearing on October 25, 2024. The second half will air on November 1, 2024. There will be subtitled and dubbed versions of the show. It'll take place between two time periods—1995 and 2005—and follow both Kiryu's childhood and his adult life in the yakuza.
Masaharu Take (100 Yen Film) and Kengo Takimoto (Kamen Teacher) are the directors. As mentioned earlier, Takeuchi will be Kiryu, the protagonist and the Dragon of Dojima. Takeuchi's known for his role as Shinnosuke Tomari, the main character of Kamen Rider Drive. He also starred in Love You as the World Ends as Hibiki Mamiya, and voice-acted as Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) in Detective Pikachu.
Because of the two time periods above, it seems that Like a Dragon: Yakuza on Amazon Prime will also cover the events of the first Yakuza game. The Like a Dragon film (Takashi Miike) which came out in 2007 also focused on that entry. This film had a somewhat comedic and campy tone to it, though. So this upcoming live-action series seems to be a more grounded adaptation. According to Masayoshi Yokoyama (head of RGG Studio and executive producer), the games let you see the world through a subjective lens, this show will let you experience the events from an objective perspective.
Like a Dragon: Yakuza will come out on October 24, 2024.

Jeong Eui-jin has replaced Lee Woo-ri as the Korean voice actor for Cyno in Genshin Impact. This is due to Lee Woo-Ri passing away on March 14, 2024. [Thanks, HXG_Diluc!]
Lee Woo-ri passed away earlier this year at the young age of 24 years old. His cause of death is unknown and his funeral was a private affair. He debuted at the age of 21 and was the youngest male professional voice actor in South Korea. Aside from appearing as Cyno in Genshin Impact, he also voiced characters in Case Closed, Crayon Shin-chan, and more. Fellow voice actors in South Korea expressed their grief at the time and Alejandro Saab, who voices Cyno in the English version of Genshin Impact, also shared his condolences.
Jung Eui-Jin, who is Cyno's new voice actor in Genshin Impact, is in the game already as Heizou. Since the Korean version of Genshin Impact will credit both Jeong Eui-jin and Lee Woo-ri for Cyno, you'll still be able to hear Lee's performance in the game. As of the time of writing, Lee Woo-ri's name is still the only one in Cyno's profile. The addition of Jeong Eui-jin may appear after the upcoming Version 4.7 update. Sethos's Korean trailer has a brief clip of Cyno talking about how Sethos doesn't want to play Genius Invokation with him. You can hear Jeong's version of Cyno at the 0:25 timestamp.
Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.

HoYoVerse has uploaded a new trailer for Clorinde, an upcoming 5-star character in Genshin Impact. The trailer depicts Clorinde at work, stalking and fighting enemies to maintain the peace of Fontaine.
You can watch the trailer here:
The trailer is also available in Mandarin Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.
In the trailer, we see Clorinde chasing after an Anemo Hilichurl Rogue through the forest. Clorinde's fighting style is very fast and elegant, and she's also capable of firing off Electro bullets with her pistol. Like some other newer characters, Clorinde's kit utilizes the Bond of Life mechanic. In battle, you'll have to toggle between using her rapier and her pistole for maximum damage potential.
Clorinde will be a 5-star Electro Sword character in Genshin Impact. Players should already be very familiar with her, as she's always been a major character in the Genshin Impact Fontaine storyline. She'll make her playable debut on June 5, 2024. Alhaitham will also have his re-run on that date. The 4-stars on rate-up on these banners are Sethos (fellow new Electro character), Thoma, and Bennett. Alhaitham's and Clorinde's signature weapons—Absolution and Light of Folar Incision—will also be available in the gacha for a limited time.
Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.

PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, June 4, 2024 6:42 AM Powerful loot can be the decider between who returns to the lobby and who wins the entire match. Great guns win games, so here's how to find Loot Hot Zones in Call of Duty Warzone. What is a Loot Hot Zone in Call of Duty Warzone? Loot Hot Zones are a new addition to Warzone for Season 4. Regular Points of Interest can be marked as Loot Hot Zones, which house higher-tier loot than usual. A recent official Call of Duty blog made it sound like Loot Hot Zones would function similarly to Fortnite's Hot Drops. These Hot Drops are visible on the map to all players from the start of the match, and players must decide if they want to fight for those decent guns. Oddly enough, Loot Hot Zones appear at random across Urzikstan. There's decent loot in the form of high-tier chests, but it won't be a hotbed for PvP as the zone isn't declared beforehand. During the mid-season update, you'll be able to find weapons with ten attachments in these a... |
