There's little that can spoil a game, film, book, or show more than its loudest fans. I'm reminded of this by the utterly bizarre reaction to the most recent Superman TV spot, shared by James Gunn and responded to by those who purport to be the movie's future audience as if he's committed a war crime. Stop it!…

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 won't melt your power cable, claims gaming GPU maker

Nvidia has confirmed that it believes the melting power cable problem that beset its RTX 4090 cards won't reoccur with the RTX 5090 cable. That's despite the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 consuming 125W more power than the RTX 4090.

Nvidia made the claim in a recent Q&A session at an editor's day in South Korea. With users set to fork out $2,000 for the new best graphics card in its class, one journalist asked the company directly if the melting cable issue should be a concern for potential buyers.

New Ryzen CPU beats laptop Nvidia RTX 4070 with no graphics card, claims AMD

There's already been a lot of hype around the upcoming launch of AMD's Strix Halo laptop CPUs, with the specs suggesting the chip's integrated Radeon GPU will be faster than the one in the PS5. Now a new scalp has been claimed, as AMD is suggesting the integrated graphics on this AMD Ryzen gaming laptop CPU is fast enough to outrun a laptop-grade Nvidia RTX 4070.

Strix Halo is the internal codename for a new design of AMD chip that has now been announced as the Ryzen AI Max class of laptop CPUs. Destined to be used in some of the best gaming laptop designs in the future, as well as mobile workstations, the new Ryzen AI Max chips stand apart from most gaming laptop designs, as instead of using a normal CPU and a separate gaming GPU chip, Strix Halo incorporates a powerful GPU into the same package as the CPU. This should make for much more compact and power-efficient gaming laptops, while also having enough speed to outdo an RTX 4070.

Destiny 2 codes for free emblems and shaders

What are all the active Destiny 2 codes? Emblems are essential to authentic Guardian flair. They offer an opportunity for expression among your fireteam, the random Guardians you encounter in the tower, and your opponents in activities such as Crucible. Each emblem has a specific meaning, some being ubiquitous seasonal emblems and others so rare that only a fraction of a percent of players own them.

Whether you're a hardcore collector or someone who appreciates the opportunity to express yourself through your Guardian in the FPS game, there's never a good reason to say no to a free Destiny 2 emblem or shader. We've compiled all the active Destiny 2 codes in a list that we'll update periodically as Bungie makes more emblems available.

Surprise new Project Zomboid update makes guns and combat way better in build 42

If you want to get a gun in Project Zomboid, you're going to have to work hard and take risks. Personally, I favor the army surplus store in Fallas Lake. The town is relatively small and the quantity of guns and bullets can be high. Nevertheless, you still need a sledgehammer to get into the armory. Same goes for the Louisville checkpoint and most of the police stations in Knox Country. It's a lot of investment and return isn't guaranteed. Proving that The Indie Stone's survival game has the edge on The Long Dark, DayZ, and Rust, another new Project Zomboid update for the unstable build 42 is already here, and it makes big improvements to how we find and use guns.

The best adventure games on PC 2025

What are the best adventure games on PC? From 1976's text-based Colossal Cave Adventure - where we get the genre name from -to the point-and-click golden age of the early '90s and up to more modern fare, few genres have endured as well as the adventure game. That multi-decade lifespan has produced some of the most astounding titles, so narrowing down a list of the best adventure games is undoubtedly a struggle.

Adventure games have prospered thanks to a focus on a well-developed story and setting and a cast of memorable characters. That, and a few tricky brain teasers, as opposed to violence, set the genre apart from its close counterpart - action-adventure games. Your protagonist usually gets by through talking or thinking rather than resorting to fighting, though Full Throttle protagonist Ben might have a few things to say about that. These are absolute classics and are some of the best PC games ever.

Classic 2010 MOBA Heroes of Newerth is back, dev says it was killed

When you think of 'MOBA,' two things come to mind: Dota 2, and League of Legends. While we've seen a plucky new rival rise to the surface in Supervive, most competitors have come and gone, unable to topple Valve and Riot's titanic titles. But that isn't the goal for Heroes of Newerth: Reborn, the brand new remaster of S2 Games' classic 2010 multiplayer game. Instead, it's about breathing new life into a project that was shut down too early.

Former The Elder Scrolls designer Ted Peterson loves the fan-made remakes and ports to games like Daggerfall, but says it's a shame videogames need this treatment while movies don't. Fans of Bethesda's fantasy RPG series have been porting, enhancing, or completely rebuilding the games for years, and they show no signs of slowing down. Getting more modern versions of these games is great, but it is bittersweet when you realize that for some classics, these are the only real ways you can easily play them today.

The best rhythm games on PC 2025

What are the best rhythm games on PC? There are few things in life better than music, so obviously there are even fewer things in life better than music and rhythm games. Music evokes more emotional responses than any other and usually does so within a few short minutes. Games can make us feel things over time, but music is often much more immediate. With that in mind, we've put together a list of the best rhythm games around, that are guaranteed to stay with you long after the last note plays.

From 2D indie games with a solid beat to lightsaber-wielding VR games, our list of the best rhythm games spans all genres. Some can teach you how to play a particular instrument, while others allow you to repurpose your music library. We should also mention that Tetris Effect was considered for the list but arguably doesn't make rhythm its focus, so it misses out. In any case, you really should play Tetris Effect. Seriously.

Gamers are camping out to buy an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090, days ahead of launch

Some gamers will do anything for a new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card, it seems. We're only a few days away from the official retail launch date for both the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs, but keen enthusiasts are already camping outside brick-and-mortar stores in an effort to secure one as soon as possible.

Camping out for a big product launch might seem excessive, but gamers looking for the best graphics card might have no choice if they want to get their hands on this new Nvidia flagship card. RTX 5090 stock is expected to be low on launch, and with demand set to be very high, it could be tricky to get hold of these GPUs yourself.

Where to buy 5070 Ti today - Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti stock for January 28

Looking for where to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU? You've come to the right place. This guide will be updated daily with links to etailers around the world so you can set up your notifications, submit your pre-order, and eventually find stock - at a regular retail price - when the RTX 5070 Ti launches.

The Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti is the mid-tier card in the company's new RTX 5000 series GPU lineup. While the RTX 5070 is your entry into the series, and the RTX 5090 is the range-topper, the RTX 5070 Ti could well be the best graphics card choice for those looking to maximize their bang for buck.

A notable aspect of the RTX 5070 Ti is that Nvidia won't be producing its own Founders Edition card. As such there isn't an MSRP for that exact card. However, the guide price for stock-speed cards is $749 / £729 / AU$1,109. These cards will be manufactured by the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac. The RTX 5070 Ti release date is set for February 2025, so no stock is available yet, but some stores are operating pre-order and "notify me" services, so you can sign up to know when stock becomes available.

Where to buy 5080 today - Nvidia RTX 5080 stock for January 28

If you're looking for where to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, this is the place to be. We're updating this guide daily with links to etailers around the world so you can set up your notifications, get in your pre-order, and eventually find stock - at a regular retail price - when the RTX 5080 launches.

The Nvidia RTX 5080 is expected to be a very popular option for those wanting to upgrade to an RTX 5000 series GPU. That's because, while the RTX 5090 is the undisputed new best graphics card, it also offers relatively poor value for $1,999. The RTX 5080, though, is tipped to be 15% faster than the RTX 4080 Super while not costing any more than that card.

Because of this expected popularity, and because the entire RTX 5000 series is tipped to be in short supply and high demand, you're going to need to be organized if you want to secure a card for a sensible price soon after launch.

With an official price of $999 / £979 / AU$2,019 for Nvidia's own Founders Edition card. Other cards from the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac might demand more, but that's the ballpark figure you should expect to pay. The RTX 5080 release date is set for January 30, so no stock is available yet, but some stores are operating pre-order and "notify me" services, so you can sign up to know when stock becomes available.

Monster Hunter Wilds tankards by Urakita

Urakita revealed a new lineup of custom-made tankards inspired by Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds. The company has also opened orders for the new items on its web store, which now also supports worldwide shipping.

The Monster Hunter Wilds tankards are available in two sizes, with each of them having two different designs. The 1000 ml (33.81 oz) size is available with a tax-inclusive price tag of 17,380 yen (~$111.70) with the Arkveld or Research Commission emblem. There is also a smaller 380 ml (12.85 oz) size purchasable at 11,880 yen (~$76.35) with the Avis or Astrum unit emblem.

Urakita is also offering additional customizations to the tankards by adding an extra 2,200 yen (~$14.15) after tax for each bonus entry. The 1000 ml size will have an optional "Quest Start" or "Quest Cleared" mark on the inner base, while the 380 ml one lets people add the Felyne paw icon and ears on the handle.

The company will also let people add an engraving of their Hunter Name in up to ten letters, which can consist of uppercase alphabet letters, numbers, and question (?) and exclamation (!) marks.

When we covered the Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary tankards that came out in July 2024, Urakita's web store had yet to support shipments outside Japan. The company has since added a WorldShopping widget to the website in late October 2024. That means Hunters from all around the world can now also order the new customizable tankards from the Japanese web store.

Monster Hunter Wilds will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 28, 2025. Urakita's new tankards modeled after the new game are immediately available to order worldwide.

2025 FFXIV Valentione's Day Valentine's Event Starts Next Week

Valentine's Day arrives on February 14, 2025, as usual, but the FFXIV Valentione's Day event starts even earlier on February 3, 2025. This year's celebration runs until February 17, 2025. As usual, there are two new items to get.

There aren't many barriers to entry for the event this year. Which is common for the event. You just need to make your way to Old Gridania when it starts. As long as you're at level 15 or higher, you can talk to Astrid at X:10.2, Y:9.4 to start the new quest called "I Promise You a Rose Garden."

Two new rewards are being doled out for those who take part in the 2025 FFXIV Valentione's Day before or after Valentine's Day. One is a new emote called Bouquet. It makes your character present a bouquet of red flowers. The other is a Heartfelt Valentione's Day Advertisement decoration. It is a wall-mounted furnishing for someone's in-game home. As usual, some other items from old events will appear.

Here's how the new emote and decoration look:

These types of rewards are common for the event. For the 2024 Valentine's Day event, we could earn the Love Heart emote. The furnishing that year was a Valentione's Heart Chair. The Eat Chocolate emote appeared for the 2023 installment.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the 2025 FFXIV Valentione's Day runs February 3-17, 2025.

Pokemon Legends Arceus soundtrack in Nintendo Music app

The Pokemon Company revealed that Nintendo has added the original soundtrack of Pokemon Legends Arceus to its Nintendo Music mobile app. People who have access to the app can now listen to music tracks from the open-world Pokemon game that has been available on Nintendo Switch since 2022.

Nintendo has been regularly adding soundtracks from its first-party titles to Nintendo Music ever since it launched the app on October 31, 2024. A new title joins the ever-growing list almost every week, except for the 2025 New Year holidays.

Earlier in January 2025, Nintendo added tracks from Super Mario Kart on January 21, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on January 14, and Super Donkey Kong 3 on January 7. In December 2024, it also added soundtracks from titles like Splatoon 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

The Nintendo Music app also has some of the tracks support a Length Change feature, where the user can listen to the same track with a game-like seamless loop for a prolonged duration up to 60 minutes. However, people can only access the app with a Nintendo Account that also has a valid and active Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Pokemon Legends Arceus, which is readily available worldwide on Nintendo Switch, now has its soundtrack available on the Android and iOS app Nintendo Music.

Giant Cinnamoroll Plush Returns to Build-a-Bear

Back in October 2023, Build-a-Bear released a Giant Cinnamoroll plush, and now the mascot is finally back. It is available in two variants. One is just the 36 inch tall stuffed animal for $128. The other option costs $134.50 and includes a gifting bow to tie around his neck.

The Cinnamoroll Giant plush isn't all that different from a typical one, as it's just larger. It is the standard, all-white version of the character. The eye and mouth stitching is blue. Pink cheeks appear under each eye. The Build-a-Bear logo is on the right paw, while the left foot has the character's name on it. This version of Cinnamoroll can be shipped unstuffed, so you could take it to a store. It will need a larger than usual box, due to its size. You also can't have any sound chip or scent pack included with it.

Here's how the Build-a-Bear Giant Cinnamoroll plush looks:

Following its original launch and retirement, prices went up for it on various sites.

Giant Sanrio plush aren't uncommon at Build-a-Bear. At the end of 2024, another one appeared. The October 2024 debut was Giant PomPomPurin. It was only available online.

Cinnamoroll is also a staple stuffed animal at the store as well. The standard version of the mascot last showed up again back in February 2023. A Candy Corn variant appeared as part of the 2024 Halloween collection at Build-a-Bear too.

The Giant Cinnamoroll plush is now back in-stock at the online Build-a-Bear store.

tokyo xtreme racer - A purple car comes racing down the highway.

For someone who isn't super into cars, I found the early access release of Tokyo Xtreme Racer surprisingly fun (even if the terminology for upgrades was fairly daunting). Idly driving around the Shuto Expressway and flashing your high beams at someone to start a race can be quite entertaining. Especially since everyone seems willing to part with some money if you beat them, but it doesn't cost you a dime to lose. Steadily hunting down and working your way through the local racing gangs also makes for some exhilarating pocket moments as you hurtle across the asphalt. However, I'm just not sure how long my interest in all this will keep up.

You play as an aspiring racer looking to make a name for themselves in the racing world. To do this, you cruise around the Expressway looking for other racers to square off against. Gang members will have their known racing areas marked on the map, so all you have to do is head to those on-ramps and then drive around until you find them. As I said, though, you can challenge just about anyone to a race if you flash your lights at them. If your chosen foes doesn't seem to be around, you can always challenge some mom driving a minivan or a guy driving a work truck instead.

So, how does a race get decided in the middle of the road in Tokyo Xtreme Racer? You and your opponent each get a health bar of sorts once the race starts, and this drains as one of you gets far ahead of the other. If you can get a good lead on your opponent, their bar will start to drain. It does so more dramatically if you get a greater lead. If you bash into them or if they crash into a barrier, the drain increases as well. So, the object is to get ahead of the opponent and stay ahead for a little while until the game declares you the winner.

This can be a complex process as you're far from the only person on the street. Not only this, but as you're on a stretch of "real" road, there are all kinds of turns, barriers, and other things that can make the track complex to navigate. Even if your opponent technically has a faster car, if you're better at maneuvering in dense traffic, you might be able to get them stuck behind another car or force them into a barrier. Likewise, you may get stomped if your foe is better at handling corners and you start a race near a particularly curvy section of road. Knowing the long tracks and being able to quickly assess good routes through traffic are a big piece of your success.

Still, you can always tweak your car to make up for your weaknesses and just annihilate the competition with your speed and handling in Tokyo Xtreme Racer. As you win races, you get CP that is points you can spend on getting new cars or getting upgrades on your existing ride. Naturally, getting a whole new car is far more expensive, so for a while you'll be getting small upgrades to your brakes, clutch, power limit, exhaust, and more to slowly build up your own racing beast.

Now, as I know nothing about cars, I couldn't tell you what many features will actually do to improve the vehicle, but making numbers go up made a noticeable difference in my ability to win, so I stopped thinking about it very hard. That said, there are some more complex upgrades that unlocked as I improved elements of my car that I had no idea which was better, which was a bit mystifying. Setting the gear ratio on my transmission allows you to alter when you switch gears, as far as I can tell, but what benefit that would convey was far beyond what I learned while playing the game. I was still beating opponents, though, so it seems like the sort of stuff you could learn with time or interest to really soak every bit of speed out of your build. That said, it does make the game feel far more daunting than it might actually be if you're not interested in this stuff.

There is a secondary currency of sorts in Tokyo Xtreme Racer: BP. You use this currency to unlock Perks in a skill tree. These can give you abilities in a race to give you some more cash while driving around idly, let you do more damage when you are ahead of your opponent, or take less damage when they get ahead of you. More annoyingly, you also can't upgrade a lot of the aspects of your vehicle beyond a single level without unlocking higher level upgrades on the Perk tree. This makes higher level upgrades a bit more expensive as they require you to unlock two things (and using you BP on part unlocks means you can't upgrade other Perks). I would have preferred to see more division between car upgrades and passive driver upgrades, as it feels like I'm missing out on cool abilities in order to unlock the stuff that should just come from using CP. Although this also feels more like just a personal quibble.

Now, since there is so much stuff to earn money to buy, that means you're going to need to win a lot of races (as you can earn both CP and BP from races). Thankfully, there are a bunch of different gangs running the streets, so there's no shortage of sources of upgrade currency. That said, none of the basic races or repeat battles with the same gangs give you very much, so progress can feel fairly slow. I spent a good amount of time racing against nobodies and low-level gang members just to flesh out the basic upgrades on my first car. I still enjoyed my time doing it, but progress can be pretty slow as you race around.

It didn't help that the realism of Shuto Expressway is fairly boring in Tokyo Xtreme Racer. What I saw of the game was largely just gray chunks of expressway at night with some lit up buildings nearby. The tracks themselves add a bit of personality with their medians, straightaways, and curving sections, but they're not terribly exciting, visually, leading me to feel like I was just spending hours upon hours on the same chunk of road. While the races were fun, playing the same opponents on the same roads to slowly build currency started to wear thin after a while. It was a game I could play in little bursts when I felt like driving around, but it felt like too much of a slog if I spent a long time playing in one session.

There is some fun story stuff that tries to bring some excitement and background to the racing. The game features a log of all of the people you can potentially race, revealing some backstory to them that seems well thought out. It adds a bit of fun to learn about the other racers, although reading it from a menu is less entertaining than if it had been worked into the gameplay somehow (although that might have made racing less interesting as it would have slowed down the actual racing). There are some brief plot snippets as you meet the heads of rival gangs, but the silhouette art style for these characters means a lot of the game's story plays out in your imagination. Same thing happens with the written backgrounds. It feels like you have to do a fair amount of mental legwork and reading if you'd like to see some story with your racing. It's nice that this gives players a choice, but the story and characters aren't compelling enough to really draw me in.

If you're interested in cars and more realistic racing, Tokyo Xtreme Racer should keep your interest. The game already has a slew of cars from real world companies and its upgrade system appears to draw from real knowledge of how cars work. The amount of time you need to sink into buying the best cars or upgrading your car into something that can beat the best is considerable, though, and with all of the track feeling a bit the same, even the excitement of weaving between cars on the highway starts to wear thin. As I said, it's pretty fun in small doses, but the longer you spend with it, the more it feels like a slow crawl to getting your car to where it needs to be so that you can do a fairly similar race with a faster driver. If you just need a solid racer to pick at or you like the ability to really toy around with car designs, this title might have you covered.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer is available on PC in Early Access.

A Certain Magical Index III crossover in Phantasy Star Online 2 PSO2 New Genesis

Sega has revealed details on the upcoming crossover content from A Certain Magical Index III for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis at the January 2025 NGS Headline program. The company will add content from the third mainline anime season of A Certain Magical Index to the new PSO2 entry with an update patch on February 5, 2025.

After the first February 2025 update has gone live, players will be able to access "A Certain Magical Index Style" scratch ticket with the premium-exclusive ARKS Cash currency to gather avatar parts, chat stamps, Line Strike mini-game cards, and other decorations featuring six characters from the A Certain franchise.

All players can also get acrylic stands of the characters via daily login rewards during the crossover event's duration. The characters in question will be Toma, Index, Mikoto, Kaori, and Accelerator, with Little Misaka appearing exclusively in the scratch ticket lineup.

A Certain Magical Index will not be the last external franchise to provide crossover content for PSO2: New Genesis. When Sega published details about the Frieren: Beyond Journey's End crossover that appeared in January 2025, it also announced plans to collaborate with another anime title based on a light novel between March and April 2025. An in-house Sega title crossover will then appear in June 2025, and a collaboration with a sci-fi fantasy toy line will follow in July 2025.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is readily available worldwide on PC and PlayStation 4, with an additional Nintendo Switch cloud version in Japan and an Xbox One release elsewhere globally. The new crossover content from A Certain Magical Index III will be available temporarily for roughly a month starting from February 5, 2025.

The Wild Robot crossover theme in Suika Game

Aladdin X announced that it has released a new Suika Game crossover skin modeled after DreamWorks' film The Wild Robot, which is alternatively known in Japan as Roz of the Wild Island. Players of the game can enjoy the game's first-ever external IP crossover skin for a limited time until mid-April 2025.

Since the new crossover content appears via an update patch, all players of the game can immediately find the skin, which will change some of the fruits into Roz, Fink, and Brightbill, without having to access the DLC page. However, this also means that no players will be able to continue using the skin after another update patch in mid-April 2025 removes it.

This crossover appears to help promote the film's release in Japan. Even though The Wild Robot already launched in North America in September 2024, Roz of the Wild Island will only start appearing in Japanese theaters on February 7, 2025.

DreamWorks' Japanese YouTube channel has also published a new video that shows Fuku Suzuki—who provided the Japanese voiceovers for Brightbill (alternatively known in Japan as Kirari)—playing the game with the movie's director Chris Sanders:

The Wild Robot crossover skin for Suika Game is available on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices until mid-April 2025.
