After just two years, DBD rival The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is finished for good

Although it's been a modest success on Steam, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre deserves more attention. Mechanically, it puts a smart, sinister spin on Dead By Daylight, pitting multiple survivors (or, as the game refers to them, 'victims') against a trio of killers, each of them outfitted with unique, sometimes complementary abilities. More significantly, developer Gun goes to great lengths to capture the visuals and atmosphere of the original 1974 movie - if film-to-game adaptations have a reputation for being low-effort cash ins, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is up there with notable exceptions like Alien Isolation. Now, just shy of two years since it was released, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is finished. Developer Gun says the game has reached its "full potential."

This AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT specs rumor sets up a battle with the RTX 5060 Ti

Yet another leak has appeared that potentially reveals some of the core specs for the so far unannounced budget-friendly AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT. While the details aren't yet confirmed, this new leak suggests a gaming GPU that is likely to compete directly with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti.

It's fair to say that this newest generation of best graphics cards has seen more competition than in previous years, but especially in the mid-to-lower tier of the market, even if Nvidia continues to hold most of the market share. AMD has had success with the RX 9070 XT, and it no doubt hopes to have more with the RX 9060 XT, although a recent RX 9060 XT price rumor suggests that it might not be as affordable as gamers hope.

Battlefield 6 release date estimate, trailers, and latest news

What is the Battlefield 6 release date? When Battlefield is firing on all cylinders, it's a thing to behold: tactical, dynamic, and immersive, there isn't much else like it out there. Some games have tried to emulate the feel of Battlefield, admittedly with mixed results, so a brand new, numbered entry in one of the best FPS series is something to get excited about.

The last Battlefield game that graced our screens was 2042, and it left a bitter taste for some, having eschewed some of the core principles that made the multiplayer game great. Battlefield 6 looks to learn from those mistakes, hopefully capturing some of that early magic, gathering old players and, with any luck, a new audience in the process.

Valve drops new Steam Deck Verified-style system for other SteamOS handhelds

Valve has just announced that it's introducing another compatibility check system for gaming handhelds, this time to verify whether third-party machines running Steam Deck OS can still run certain games. The move comes as the Steam Deck compatibility system comes under fire for verifying games that barely run on the handheld, while new SteamOS handhelds, such as the Lenovo Legion Go S, are waiting in the wings.

Despite hefty competition, the Steam Deck remains the best handheld you can buy for gaming right now, thanks to the smooth usability of SteamOS compared to the often clunky experience of using Windows on alternative devices. However, the current Valve certification system for games has come in for heavy criticism over the last few weeks, with games such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Steam Deck getting full Verified status, despite rarely being able to hit 30fps on the Deck, and with extremely long loading times too.

Best Clair Obscur Expedition 33 attributes for all characters

What are the best Expedition 33 attributes? Like most RPGs, Clair Obscur includes a leveling system that lets you invest points into a character's stats to improve their health, attack power, and so on. Expedition members gain three attribute points every time they level up, which can be spent in the Upgrade Attributes menu accessible at any Expedition Flag.

The best attributes for each character in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 partially depend on your Expedition 33 weapons of choice, since their performance scales with the attribute grades attached to them. However, our top picks support the core playstyle of each expedition member in the fantasy game, whether you're running the best Expedition 33 builds or prefer to experiment with Expedition 33 Pictos and weapon synergies.

New Minecraft update means you can now craft one of the rarest items in the game

New Minecraft updates vary in importance. Sometimes, Mojang releases a Snapshot and, while it makes a few nice, little adjustments, business in the blocky world continues basically as normal. Other times, everything changes. In recent weeks, the mechanics (and recipe) behind leashes have been overhauled and there have been significant alterations for ranged combat. Now, one of the rarest and most useful items in all of Minecraft, previously confined to Nether fortresses and desert pyramids is available for crafting. Thanks to Snapshot 25w20a, you can now make your own saddles.

When is the next Minecraft update? The next Minecraft update is on the way following the recent Spring to Life game drop. We've been looking into when 1.21.6 might arrive, and which new features it contains.

Minecraft updates are usually announced in the annual Minecraft Live broadcast, but Mojang revealed in late 2024 that there will now be more regular, smaller updates spread throughout the year. The Minecraft Bundles of Bravery update arrived in October 2024, while December's larger Winter Drop added the Pale Garden to the list of Minecraft biomes. With 1.21.5 having launched in March 2025, here's what's coming to the sandbox game in Minecraft 1.21.6 and beyond.

Minecraft snapshots - testing new features in 25w20a

How do you test the latest Minecraft features? These snapshots are the very first iteration of Minecraft updates and are a way for Mojang to test out bug fixes, technical changes, and even new blocks, biomes, and mobs before officially rolling them out. Anyone with the Java edition of the creative game can try these features without any risk to your current world, while Minecraft Preview exists for those on Bedrock edition, so read on to find out how to be the first to try the next big Minecraft update.

During Minecraft Live, the next big Minecraft update or drop is revealed to the community. At past events, we've had the likes of the Caves and Cliffs update, The Wild Update, and the Trails and Tales update - each of them overhauling the base game with new Minecraft biomes, blocks, and mobs. Since these updates come with so much new content, they need to be tested out first, and that's where Minecraft snapshots and Minecraft Preview come in. Use them to test out new experimental features before anyone else, and feedback to Mojang if you have any issues. It's a win-win situation.

Why Doom is one of the most important PC games of all time

May 13, 2025: This piece was originally published August 18, 2016 as part of our 'most important PC games' series. We've republished it for Doom: The Dark Ages' launch.

"The Citizen Kane of videogames" gets thrown around a lot in the modern 'games as art' discussion. And it's a term that can mean different things, depending on the commentator. Alex Steacy and Cameron Lauder put forward Half-Life as the Citizen Kane of videogames in their Twitch show, Talking Simulator, on the grounds that it had legitimized the medium, just as Citizen Kane had for film. Matt Kamen wrote for Empire that PS4 exclusive The Last of Us "may also prove to be gaming's Citizen Kane moment – a masterpiece that will be looked back upon favorably for decades."

The Precinct review - a criminally dull police simulator

The Precinct wants to make you feel like a real cop. It doesn't necessarily want that feeling to involve just replicating the larger-than-life car chases and shootouts of an action movie, the intensive crime scene investigation of a detective, or the mundane aspects of filing paperwork at a station desk. Instead, it aims to simulate the working life of a cop by blending all of the above into a lumpy mixture of boring and exhilarating - something that's meant, in its heightened recreation of the job's ebbs and flows of excitement, to offer a different kind of police simulation.

The big guns are finally coming out to join the PCIe 5.0 SSD party, first with the Samsung 9100 Pro, and now with the new WD Black SN8100, and both drives are aiming their banks of high-speed flash memory squarely at the 'fastest ever gaming SSD' title. It's not cheap, of course, but if you want the very best SSD available, the WD Black SN8100 has pretty much nailed the brief when it comes to performance.      A new AMD Ryzen gaming CPU looks set to beat the 9800X3D

A new AMD Ryzen specs rumor has just appeared online that could spell some very exciting news for gamers. If it's true, then there's the potential for a new 12-core X3D chip that's even faster than the acclaimed AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and a 24-core AMD Ryzen gaming CPU that can basically do everything.

But isn't there already a 12-core AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D? Yep, but it has a fundamental flaw in its design when it comes to gaming, which is that those 12 cores are split across two six-core chiplets, and the big 64MB of 3D V-cache that improves gaming performance only sits under one of them, meaning only six of its cores have direct access to the cache. If you're looking for the best gaming CPU, the eight-core 9800X3D is the better option as all eight of its cores have direct access to that big slab of cache.

"Soulframe has the bones of a great action-RPG," I wrote last November. Developers Digital Extremes continue to graft flesh to those bones, plumping the world-building's marrow and cranking the sinews of the combat. The game's Preludes edition - a sort of relentlessly expanding limited-access beta - continues to be updated with new weapons, faction features, player Pacts (classes, essentially), areas, and enemies. They've also made some revisions, which include turning the Idol system into a distinct set of weapons so as to give it "a more focused purpose in your arsenal".

If Letters Had Pants appears to be the product of three different elevator pitches that took place in the same elevator, and somehow resolved amicably rather than eating each other alive.

The first pitch was for a verbal puzzler in which you combine letters into words on a randomised grid against the clock, with the twist that words vanish when scored to create blank spaces that can be bridged by other letter combinations for higher scores. The second pitch was for a bizarrely prudish roguelite that is all about ensuring that letters are properly dressed. And the third pitch was for an archaeological excavation sim in which you exhibit things like lost floppy discs, or sell them to expand your museum. The result, against the odds, is a single and cohesive video game rather than a claustrophobic clownfight. Witness the below trailer.

Steam Deck owners will be familiar with the practice of peering into a new game's Steam store page and hoping, begging, praying to whatever god is yet to abandon this cruel joke of a reality that it has a little green tick mark on it. This is, of course, the Steam Deck Verified programme, wherein Valve gives good behaviour stickers to games that function fully on their handheld PC.

Soon, this system – so often a source of relief and disappointment – will be expanded, with a view to rating games for compatibility with SteamOS as a whole. As the announcement post explains, that's because the first non-Steam Deck SteamOS handheld, a new version of the Lenovo Legion Go S, is launching soon, with the possibility of more in the future.

Stellar Blade - the apparently very good third-person action extravaganza with a heroine who definitely only dresses like that because she's comfortable with her sexuality and besides, bunny girl outfits are lightweight and tactically efficient - will launch for PC on 11th June, according to a new trailer. PlayStation appear to have posted the trailer early in a classic case of marketing butterfingers. They've now removed the video, but somebody from Reddit has preserved and uploaded it as an everlasting monument to Sony's shame.

Skirk and Dahlia Appear in Genshin Impact 5.7

The next two Genshin Impact characters include one who we've known about for while due to Childe, which is his mentor Skirk, and an entirely new unit named Dahlia. Both will appear during the 5.7 update, though it's unknown who will appear first. While we generally suspect Skirk is a five-star, it's unknown if Dahlia is a four-star or five-star person.

We first learned about Skirk by following the story of Fatui Harbiner Tartaglia. After he fell into the Abyss when he was a kid, she found him and became his mentor. She will be a Cryo unit in-game, and her title is Void Star. Her Constellation is called Crystallina. Her one description on social media suggests that she could was picked for her role when Khaenri'ah fell.

As for Dahlia, we know less about him due to the fact this is his first real reveal. We do know he's the first new Genshin Impact character from Mondstadt in a while. He's also a member of the church, like Barbara and Rosaria. He's a deacon. He's considered a Herald of Barbatos known as the Ode and Oblation, and he is a Hydro character. His Constellation is called Cantus Choralis, and Jean mentioned he'll help people deal with problems via drinking contests.

Here's official art showing both characters:

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices, and Skirk and Dahlia are expected to debut in 5.7 in June 2025.

Sanrio Character Ranking 2025 interim results show top left Pompompurin retain 1st place

Sanrio has published the mid-term interim results of its 40th Sanrio Character Ranking poll, where it counted votes that arrived by May 6, 2025. It shows that Pompompurin is maintaining the first spot in the ranking, with the 2004 winner Cinnamoroll still closely trailing at second.

While the early-day initial results in April 2025 only showed the top 10, Sanrio extended the list to the top 20 for the newer interim results. The company also expanded the separate overseas country region rankings from the top 5 to the top 10. In addition, it revealed that Jewelpet newly occupies the 40th rank as a special highlight of the 40th poll.

Here are the top 20 ranked characters, as revealed in the interim results:

  1. Pompompurin
  2. Cinnamoroll
  3. Pochacco
  4. Kuromi
  5. Hello Kitty
  6. My Melody
  7. Hangyodon
  8. Little Twin Stars
  9. Hanamaru Obake
  10. Ahiru no Pekkle
  11. Tuxedosam
  12. Bad Badtz-maru
  13. Cogimyun
  14. Kerokerokeroppi
  15. Wish Me Well
  16. U-sa-ha-na
  17. My Sweet Piano
  18. Gudetama
  19. Gaopowerroo
  20. Chococat

Pompompurin retaining the top spot in the mid-term interim results for the ranking is already a feat by itself. In the 2024 poll, Pochacco initially led the group, but Cinnamoroll overtook him in the interim results.

Sanrio will announce the final results of the poll on June 29, 2025. The company had also revealed on social media that it will hold a physical public viewing event for the final announcement at the Hello Kitty Show Box on Hyogo Prefecture's Awaji Island.

The 40th Sanrio Character Ranking poll in 2025 is available worldwide until May 25, 2025.

I Appreciate Labyrinth of the Demon King's Aesthetic

Labyrinth of the Demon King is like happening upon a lost PlayStation cult classic. It's a dive into the types of horrors and uncertainties that came from the fogs of early Silent Hill and the dungeons of FromSoftware's King's Field. In more ways than one, I'd say, as it also seems to pick up on the quirks that come from playing such titles. It's like finding a lost artifact from a timeline that didn't exist, where the person lucky enough to find it keeps going on so captivated by the design that the direction doesn't always matter.

Labyrinth of the Demon King stars a samurai who followed Lord Takeda Nobumitsu faithfully. So much so that even when the titular demon king betrayed the ruler and slaughtered everyone, this one warrior decided to dedicate the rest of his life to revenge in Nobumitsu's name. However, getting to the boss isn't so simple, as first the towers where his underlings remain must be ascended and bested. Only after taking on those burdens can the ashigaru face the demon king.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGmF-nEsX58&ab_channel=TopHatStudios

In terms of appearance and execution, Labyrinth of the Demon King feels like a mix of both Silent Hill and King's Field. Color is sapped from the land, with shades of grey and sepia depicting every scene. Fog covers everything, making it appear otherworldly. While it absolutely draws from older titles and uses a minimalistic approach to character models, building designs, and textures used, it actually ends up looking absolutely appropriate and period-accurate in execution. Still screenshots don't do it justice, as so much of the ambiance relies on the lens dirt filter, fog, and supplemental animations you might not even realize help set the stage. Even the 4:3 aspect ratio is preserved.

This applies to enemies as well. When figures are at their most obscured, especially in cinematic segments, they're most horrifying. The details are vague when you get close or examine them. It's only when you account for all the filters and additional effects that these layer upon the design and invoke your imagination to enhance the potential horrors tied to them.

As mentioned earlier, Labyrinth of the Demon King truly pulls inspiration from the design of games like Silent Hill and King's Field, and that applies to the lack of quality of life features. Things will automatically unequip without warning. Getting through menus, equipping items, and saving is cumbersome. Text can be difficult to read when engaging in conversations. While audio cues will come up for some segments, there will be certain types of opponents that you won't realize are even around as a possible threat until they attack you. (I'm talking about you, foot-sized, creepy tube-centipede-worms with a head made entirely of a giant bitey mouth that appear out of nowhere and take a bit out of your health with no warning.) Actually parrying is pretty easy, as is dealing damage to foes. However, I did find sometimes and in some circumstances that I'd suddenly switch to a dodging side-step instead of a jump. Then there was the time when I went into the start menu, but moving left and right in it was also making my character move back and forth.

While some decisions seem intentionally cumbersome, I do appreciate other ways in which Labyrinth of the Demon King stays true to older games. There's no hand-holding. You're left to figure things out on your own. (I didn't find any of the puzzles too difficult.) Opponents can be quite challenging, with the bosses actually requiring a player to be fairly well-versed with the dodging and parrying system to survive situations. A stamina system is at play that limits the length of possible combos. Though I feel like the save point system should be abandoned in favor of save anywhere options for accessibility sake, the return to form here and search for shrines to pray at feel quite appropriate.

There are times when I wish the Labyrinth of the Demon King gameplay might be a little more responsive or certain elements a little less fiddly, but the aesthetic and graphics are always on-point. It is fantastic about establishing ambiance. So even when I didn't feel completely captivated by other elements, I felt compelled to keep playing to see what new areas and enemies might look like. One thing is for certain, and that is this game is a love letter to the fifth console generation.

Labyrinth of the Demon King is available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

cartethyia voice actors in wuthering waves

Cartethyia is one of the most popular and important characters in Wuthering Waves, and her voice actors in English and Japanese have officially been revealed.

The Blessed Maiden's VA did a brilliant job in the main story, and many are looking forward to her playable version. In this article, you can find more details about Cartethya's Japanese and English voice actors' past works.

Cartethyia's Japanese voice actor

Asakawa Yuu is the Japanese voice behind Cartethya/Fleurdelys in Wuthering Waves. She is one of the most popular figures in the anime industry. Here are some of Asakawa's other notable works:

  • Stheno, Euryale, Ana, Medusa, and Gorgon in Fate franchise
  • USS Ranger and ROC Yat Sen in Azur Lane
  • Leone in Akame ga Kill
  • Anthuria and Predator in Granblue Fantasy
  • Yoshida in Love Lab
  • Arnett Macmillan in Freezing
  • Itoko Osakabe in School Rumble
  • Chisato Hasegawa in The Testament of Sister New Devil
  • Nightingale in Path to Nowhere

Besides video games and anime, Asakawa Yuu has also provided voice samples for the Vocaloid software Megurine Luka.

Cartethyia's English VA

Amanda Rischel is the English voice actor of Cartethya/Fleurdelys in WuWa. Listed below are some of her previous works:

  • Lone in Carmen Curlers
  • Audrey in Strinova
  • Additional Voices in Diablo IV

While Amanda Rischel does not have a lot of experience under her belt, she did a fantastic job playing Cartethyia/Fleurdelys. Rischel's ability to change her voice to perform two different versions of the same character is commendable.

Cartethyia will be released in Wuthering Waves 2.4, so you can look forward to more of their brilliance.

More on Cartethyia

Cartethyia is a 5-star Resonator with the Aero Attribute and is a Sword user. The recent leaks suggest that she could be a main DPS unit with Aero Erosion debuff mechanics, so you can pair her with characters like Ciaccona and Aero Rover. Given Cartethyia's role in the story, her playable version is expected to be just as strong as Jinhsi's.

We'll continue updating this list as we discover more Alignment quests.

Fortnite Alignment quests
Screenshot by Destructoid

Although each Alignment has 20 stages, each requiring ten quests, many of their objectives will repeat with each passing week. Each quest rewards you with 3,000 XP, gaining well over 100,000 XP if you finish all 20 stages. This doesn't include the extra XP you get from your personal Alignment quests and the "progress your Light or Dark alignment" weekly mission.

What is Personal Alignment in Fortnite?

Each time you complete a Light or Dark Side quest, you'll gain progress in your Personal Alignment. Finishing every Alignment mission rewards you with 10,000 extra XP per side, giving you up to 20,000 experience points towards the Chapter 6, Season 3 Battle Pass. Finishing five also completes the "progress your Light or Dark alignment" weekly mission, giving 30,000 additional XP.

What is Community Alignment in Fortnite?

Community Alignment is the overall progress Fortnite's community has made toward these quests. The more quests the community finishes, the higher the percentages will go. Once they reach 100 percent, everyone will unlock NPC interactions that buff you in some way.

At the time of writing, not every effect is known. Here's a list of every confirmed effect and its NPCs:

  • Light side Stage one: Pay 200 gold bars to receive Storm Circle hints from Leia Organa.
  • Dark side Stage one: Exchange health for shields from General Grievous.
  • Light side Stage two: Purchase Patch Up services from Luke Skywalker to restore your health.
  • Dark side Stage two: Receive a Blaster from the Wookiee Team Leader.

Unlocking more community alignment rewards depends entirely on the efforts of Fortnite's player base in completing these tasks. Only time will tell how this unfolds.

Fire Force Reignition player is playing as an Infernal. There is a title on top and bottom of the screen.

Fire Force Reignition is a Roblox game where you're supposed to be a good guy with super-powers and protect the people from evil. But... what if you don't want that? What if you're bored of being a good guy and just want to give in to your inner demon and become a bad guy? Well, you can. If you're tired of being a goody-two-shoes, you can give in to the flame and become an Infernal. We'll tell you everything there is to know about Infernals in this Extremely Hot Fire Force Reignition Infernal Guide.

How to become an Infernal in Fire Force Online

You can become an Infernal at almost any time during the game, no matter which Generation you are. All you have to do is find the right NPC, complete two simple quests, and just like that, you'll give up your current Abilities and Generation, and become a scorching Infernal.

Screenshot by Destructoid

The NPC you need to talk to is Cole. You can find him inside the Factory in the main city area. The game won't really advertise where he is, as it's supposed to be a hidden faction only for those who want to play as the bad guy. You need to be Rank 4 for Cole to talk to you.

An Infernal player is killing an NPC in Fire Force Reignition
Screenshot by Destructoid

Your first quest is to kill 5 NPC civilians (so you can prove you're a bad guy). This shouldn't take you more than a few minutes. Simply walk around the city, get into a fight with five civilians, and kill them (they will fight back, just so you know). Once you've killed 5 NPCs, return to Cole.

Infernal Ash inside the factory in Fire Force Reignition
Screenshot by Destructoid

Your next quest is even simpler. You need to collect two Infernal Ash. Guess where they are? They're inside the factory where Cole is. Simply hop around the boxes, grab two of them, and return to Cole. It shouldn't take you more than a minute or two.

Return to Cole, say that you are ready (pick the option "Ashes to Ashes...") and you'll start burning and be reborn as an Infernal.

How to play as an Infernal in Fire Force Online

Two Infernals are standing in front of the Infernal base in Fire Force Reignition
Screenshot by Destructoid

Playing as an Infernal is more or less the same as playing as any other Generation, with a few differences:

  • Anyone will be able to tell you're an Infernal
  • You will be hostile towards many NPCs, especially Fire Force members
  • Many Human players will attack you on sight (and you should do the same)
  • You'll gain exclusive Infernal quests and a new base

According to many Fire Force Reignition players, playing as the Infernal is often more fun than playing as a Human, especially because of all the cool abilities they get. Unfortunately, it's also a one-way street, unless you completely wipe your character using Reroll Tokens.

That's all there is to it. Have fun watching the world (and yourself) burn as an evil Infernal. If you haven't already, check out our Fire Force Reignition codes for some free Reroll Tokens.

Doom The Dark Ages Khalim

Doom The Dark Ages is now available worldwide, and our starting point is the story chapters. The main game is divided into different chapters, which we can progress through gradually. While the mission structure is pretty linear, we get to choose how to proceed.

Almost all missions, barring a few, have extra content like Secrets and Toys that you can find if you invest a few extra hours. This guide will provide you with all the information you need to complete the campaign.

How many chapters are there in Doom The Dark Ages?

The latest Doom title has a total of 22 chapters. You'll be unlocking the chapters gradually (all chapters stay locked by default). Once you finish a chapter, the next one will become available. Doom The Dark Ages is a marked improvement over Doom Eternal, which has just 13 missions.

Let's take a look at all the chapters that make up the main campaign.

Chapters in Doom The Dark Ages
Screenshot by Destructoid

Complete Doom The Dark Ages quest list

Here's the complete list of the quests you'll have to complete, arranged in order of appearance.

  • Village of Khalim
  • Hebeth
  • Barrier Core
  • Sentinel Barracks
  • Holy City of Aratum
  • Siege Part 1
  • Siege Part 2
  • Abyssal Forest
  • Ancestral Forge
  • The Forsaken Plains
  • Hellbreaker
  • Sentinel Command Station
  • From Beyond
  • Spire of Nerathul
  • City of Ry'uul
  • The Kar'Thul Marshes
  • Temple of Lomarith
  • Belly of the Beast
  • Harbor of Souls
  • Resurrection
  • Final Battle
  • Reckoning

According to Bethesda id, each mission should take about an hour to complete. However, the actual duration in most cases is definitely less, but it will also depend on the difficulty you choose. Playing the missions at higher difficulty will make things harder, and you'll take longer to eliminate the enemies.

Chapter details in Doom The Dark Ages

You can also find Secrets in almost every mission (with a few exceptions), so make sure to explore all corners of the map. Ideally, you'll want to finish a chapter first, and then concentrate on exploring the map to unearth the Secrets. This is also necessary if you want to 100% every chapter, as merely completing it on your playthrough will only partially complete it.

All secrets in Doom The Dark Ages

The following list provides an overview of all the secrets that can be found at different levels. This is a working list, so it will be duly updated.

Village of Khalim

  • Secrets: 6
  • Codex Entries: 2
  • Collectible Toys: 2
  • Skins: 1

Hebeth

  • Secrets: 9
  • Codex Entries: 1
  • Collectible Toys: 1

Running toward broken TIE Fighter that's on its side in Fortnite

Finding a ship around the vast island in Fortnite can be a pretty tough task. Luckily, there's one way to guarantee you obtain one in every match. The repeatable gather fuel and fix the TIE Fighter quest grants you a fully functioning ship.

This quest can be a bit tricky since it sends you on a small scavenger hunt for some essential ship components. It's a great one to know about, though, since it gets you access to lots of XP and a ship whenever you want one. Here's how to gather fuel and fix the TIE Fighter in Fortnite.

Gather fuel and fix the TIE Fighter in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle

Piloting a TIE Fighter in Fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid

To complete the gather fuel and fix the TIE Fighter quest in Fortnite, you need to find three fuel containers and use them to repair the ship. This quest can be found at a Rebel Outpost Landmark location on the road slightly south of Flooded Frogs.

This task is one of the many you can work on to discover and complete story quests throughout the Star Wars season. It's a special one you can complete in every round to have easy access to a TIE Fighter as needed.

To start this quest, approach the sparkling console near the west end of the outpost. It's marked with a white diamond icon, so it's easy to locate from far away. Interact with the console to start the fixing process.

Once the console has been activated, you need to get to work repairing the TIE Fighter. It's missing some critical components, so you need to find and use them to get it working.

Where is the TIE Fighter fuel in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle?

Getting TIE Fighter fuel in Fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid

There are three TIE Fighter fuel containers, all of which can be found around the small Rebel Outpost Landmark. You don't have to wander very far to locate them. Each is a long, oval-shaped black container that blends in with the environment quite well.

  • One fuel is located near the west end of the small outpost, near a rock.
  • One fuel can be found near the east end of the small base by a stack of boxes.
  • One fuel is near the northwest end of the area, behind the broken TIE Fighter and close to the road that leads around the left side of Flooded Frogs.

All three fuel containers are marked with a white diamond icon, so as long as you stay in the Rebel Outpost, it's fairly easy to locate and grab each one. You can acquire them by selecting the interact button once you're close to them. This button varies by platform, but is displayed once you're near a fuel container.

Once you have all three containers, approach the broken TIE Fighter sitting on its side near the north end of the Rebel Outpost. Interact with it to install the three fuel containers and fix it so it's usable again. As soon as you finish interacting with it, the TIE Fighter jumps upright so you can then hop inside and start flying.

If you're seeking more XP, there are plenty of other tasks you can tackle around the island. Next, try using a telephone booth to don a disguise, completing Leia Organa's story quests, and sprinting distance while under the effects of Slap.

yixuan materials in zenless zone zero

Yixuan is an upcoming character who will be released in the Zenless Zone Zero 2.0 update. The beta leaks show all the materials we'll need to level up the Yunkui Summit.

This includes some of the new materials that will only be available in the second season of ZZZ since it will introduce new attributes. Here's a guide covering all the materials required for Yixuan's promotion and leveling up her skills.

Yixuan level-up materials in ZZZ leaked

Yixuan's drip marketing has already confirmed that she will get a new Attribute and Specialty in Zenless Zone Zero 2.0. The recent beta leaks suggest that her Specialty is called Rupture, which means you will need a new type of material for her.

Here's a list of all the materials you will need for Yixuan's max promotion in ZZZ, as per leaks via Hakush.in:

  • 4 Basic Rupture Certification Seal
  • 32 Advanced Rupture Certification Seal
  • 30 Arbiter's Certification Seal

Additionally, Yixuan's new Attribute is a new version of Ether, but you will still need the same materials as those used by other Ether Agents:

  • 25 Basic Ether Chip
  • 72 Advanced Ether Chip
  • 250 Specialized Ether Chip
  • 5 Hamster Cage Pass

You will also need the following two materials to level up Yixuan's Core Skills:

  • 9 Exuvia of Refinement
  • 60 Higher Dimensional Data: Miasmic Elytron

Where to farm the materials

You can farm the Basic Ether Chip, Advanced Ether Chip, and Specialized Ether Chip by completing the Resonance Test Combat Simulation or using the Dismantle Function. You can access the challenge from the VR Device.

Basic Rupture Certification Seal, Advanced Rupture Certification Seal, and Arbiter's Certification Seal

Basic Rupture Certification Seal, Advanced Rupture Certification Seal, and Arbiter's Certification Seal are new materials for Rupture-type Agents like Yixuan. Unfortunately, you cannot pre-farm them since they will be available only after version 2.0 is released.

Exuvia of Refinement and Higher Dimensional Data: Miasmic Elytron

Exuvia of Refinement and Higher Dimensional Data: Miasmic Elytron are also new materials that will be added in ZZZ 2.0.

We will update this guide once we have the official information.

A group of Fire Force members are looking at the divine being in Adolla. There is a title on top and bottom of the page

If you've been playing Fire Force Reignition, or if you've seen the show, there's a good chance you've heard the term "Adolla". Simply put, Adolla is a version of Hell in Fire Force Online. While it might sound scary, many players visit the realm in order to get special blessings and even abilities. We'll tell you everything you need to know about Adolla in this Ultimate Fire Force Reignition Adolla Guide.

How to enter Adolla in Fire Force Online

A Fire Force Reignition player is talking to Xatu the NPC
Screenshot by Destructoid

To enter Adolla, you first need to finish Xatu's questline. Xatu is the NPC (with weird purple symbols above his head) that's on top of the stairs in the main city where the Fire Force Entrance Exam NPC is.

Xatu won't give you the quest unless you have enough Grace. To get more Grace, just go out and do more quests, and in particular, kill more bosses (because they give the most Grace). Check back with Xatu occasionally to see if you have enough.

If you have enough Grace, Xatu will tell you to find four of his friends hidden around the world. Thankfully, they aren't too difficult to find. Here's where to find each of them:

  • Teft (Desert) - Fast travel to the desert and find him behind a mountain past the bounty board
  • Issy (Desert - Sewers) - From Teft, head left (Teft's left) and go through the desert area until you find a cave that leads you to the Sewers. Issy is inside the cave.
  • Isla (Asakusa - Wilderness) - Fast travel to Asakusa and head towards the wilderness. Isla is behind a mountain.
  • Tabseo (Main city area) - Next to a fence near the parking lot building.

A Fire Force online player is traveling to Adolla

Find each of these NPCs, and tell them Xatu sent you. Once you're done, return to Xatu, and he'll tell you he can sense the door to Adolla. Fast travel to the Fire Force Headquarters and press "U" to turn on the location tracker. Travel to the "Mystery Door". Inside, you'll find another NPC named "Ben". As soon as you talk to Ben, you'll get teleported to Adolla.

How to get Adolla blessing in Fire Force Online

One of the main reasons why players travel to Adolla in the first place is the Adolla Blessings.

To get blessings, here's what you need to do:

  • Do quests and fight enemies in the Adolla realm
  • When you finish quests, you can get Adolla Augments
  • When you get a few, take the Augments to the Sacrifice Altar (also in the Adolla realm)
  • When you sacrifice Augments at the Altar, you get Essence of Sacrifice
  • Take the Essence of Sacrifice to the NPC called Eudora, and they will give you a random Adolla Blessing

Image via Fire Force Online Trello board

The blessing you get is always random, but you can reroll it by repeating the process above. Here are the blessings you can get:

  • Heatwave Blessing - Your attacks heat up your opponents' Overheat bar more, making them explode making them explode and take damage
  • Speed Blessing - You have a chance to automatically dodge an incoming attack (has a 25 sec cooldown)
  • Ironskin Blessing - You have a chance to reflect an augment effect back at your opponent
  • Powerhouse Blessing - When you use M1, you store power, which can later charge up your Abilities and make them do more damage
  • Gluttony Blessing - Increases Energy regeneration and base Energy by 50%

That's all there is to it. Have fun getting the Adolla Blessing. If you need help picking the right abilities for you, check out our Definitive Fire Force Reignition Abilities Tier List. If you haven't already, check out our Fire Force Reigntion codes for some free rerolls.

Palworld Tides of Terraria expansion promo art

Indie hit Palworld keeps growing in terms of content, and developers Pocketpair have announced an upcoming collab with Terraria.

The news of the upcoming collab was announced on May 13 as a summer expansion. If you, like me, have been skeptical about Palworld's future, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic instead. The developers haven't shared many details yet, but it has certainly caught me by surprise.

Palworld's Terraria collab will be a big expansion

2025 has been a surprising year of video game releases and announcements (Rockstar's GTA 6 delay broke my heart). Despite the difficulties that Pocketpair has had to endure from Nintendo, Palworld has continued to receive regular updates. There has been plenty of new content since the game's launch.

Pocketpair has proved all doubters wrong again with the recent announcement. Titled Palworld Tides of Terraria, the major expansion will have the worlds of the two video games collide. As mentioned earlier, the exact details remain hidden.

The update should arrive in the summer. Based on the official information, we will be able to catch monsters from the world of Terraria and add them as pals. There is news of new pals, islands, and more. More information will be announced over the next few weeks via social media channels, and I am quite excited.

https://twitter.com/Palworld_EN/status/1922095723560026357

Pocketpair has also revealed a few screenshots, and things look pretty interesting. I am always excited to have new pals, and so should the community. Terraria, on its own, has been among my favorite indies, which makes me more hyped for the upcoming expansion.

When Nintendo sued Pocketpair, I was skeptical about what the future holds for Palworld. Since then, things have been pretty positive as far as new gameplay content is concerned. The upcoming update should also be available for free, which makes things even better for those of us who own a copy.

At this point, I don't even know what more to expect from Pocketpair. I am extremely excited about this upcoming expansion, and hopefully, it will have plenty of new content for the likes of us who have already reached the endgame.

Leia talking to Darth Maul in Fortnite

If you're interested in learning the ways of the force and obtaining a Lightsaber, you need to meet up with someone who's familiar with both in Fortnite. One of the many characters you can learn from is Darth Maul, but he's a tricky guy to find.

As he always does, Darth Maul has found a way to return from death. He can be found hanging out on the island, ready to teach you some powerful dark side abilities. If you're eager to master his abilities, here's where to find Darth Maul in Fortnite.

Darth Maul location in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle

Screenshot by Destructoid

Darth Maul doesn't have a fixed spawn location on the island in Fortnite. Instead, he randomly appears as a hologram marked by a special Lightsaber icon on the map. He's one of a few hologram NPCs you can interact with to unlock special powers, so to ensure you meet him and not someone else, you need to search for his unique icon.

Darth Maul's map icon is a Red Lightsaber with a black and red pattern behind it. This pattern matches his skin, so it's fairly easy to distinguish from other Lightsaber icons you spot. The only other Red Lightsaber icon you may see on the map belongs to Palpatine, so closely examine the icon to make sure you go for the right one.

Like all hologram characters, Darth Maul will train you if you manage to be the first player to reach him. When you talk to him, he'll open a special Training Rift Gate you can enter to unlock powerful abilities.

When does Darth Maul spawn in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle?

The Darth Maul hologram seems to appear around one or two minutes into each match. He seems to arrive after the first storm circle has passed, so you have some time to gather loot before meeting him. His precise spawn time and location are fairly random, though, so keep an eye out for his icon on the map to have the best shot at finding him.

How to get Darth Maul's Lightsaber in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle

To obtain Darth Maul's Lightsaber, you need to chat with him to activate the Training Rift Gate. Once you do, a short cutscene will play as your character goes inside to acquire it. His Lightsaber is yours to use as soon as your character returns.

What does Darth Maul give you in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle?

Darth Maul grants you a Red Sith Training Lightsaber and the Force Throw ability. His Lightsaber is the same as the one you can acquire from Palpatine. The only unique Red Lightsaber you can get belongs to Darth Vader Samurai and is separate from this one.

You can only master the Force Throw ability by learning it from Darth Maul himself. You can technically pick up his Lightsaber off any player you defeat who happens to have it, but his force abilities are exclusive and must be learned from the Sith master himself.

Force Throw is a powerful ability that allows you to pick up nearby objects and hurl them forward as projectiles. It's great for dealing damage or destroying nearby items, so it's fairly versatile for most situations.

If you're seeking a different Lightsaber and force ability, you may want to know where to find Mace Windu and his Purple Lightsaber next. And if you're after some XP, consider tackling quests like using a telephone booth to don a disguise and sprinting distance while under the effects of Slap.

an image of Kubfu in Pokemon Go

Bags are packed, mobile phones and power banks are charged, and the community is complaining about the smallest of things? Must be a Pokémon Go Fest coming up, and I'm all here for it!

I plan to attend the Paris Go Fest in-person event in June (even if it has, by far, some of the worst Pokémon on offer in comparison to New Jersey's Bombadier and Osaka's Drampa spawns) and have been diligently preparing for the trip by saving up Poké Balls, Lures, Egg Incubators, and everything else I need to maximize my chances of finding my Shiny Pokémon targets.

For a lot of people, including myself, Shiny Pokémon and new Pokémon spawns are the main reason you go to these events, either by yourself or with a group of friends or as part of a community, but it got me wondering what others such as yourself are planning to do, or hope to achieve, while out there.

https://twitter.com/PokemonGoApp/status/1921920840611811550

We have Zacian and Zamazenta raids to look forward to, as well as an unannounced three-star raid during the Global portion that'll surely be announced closer to the end of June. But what are you hoping to achieve while travelling the world?

Do you have a list of Pokémon you hope to catch to complete your Pokédex, like Skiddo? Are you using the events as an excuse to travel and maybe finally go somewhere like Japan for the first time? Is this your first ever in-person Go Fest, and you just want to share your hopes for the experience?

Let us know down below in the comments section. We'd love to hear what your plans and hopes are, or, if like me, you are praying you come across a Shiny Frigibax (Shiny debut at Go Fest btw), before the trip is over.

And if you are at Go Fest Paris in person and see a guy rocking a Destructoid shirt. It's likely me—so come say hi!

A cutscene from Doom The Dark Ages

Doom The Dark Ages is available on advanced access with the full launch coming soon, but the performance so far has been dodgy to say the least.

While console users have found things pretty smooth until now, the same can't be said about those who are on PC. A major issue earlier prevented Nvidia users from being able to start advanced access on time, but that problem has been fixed. However, freezes, crashes, and lag-related incidents have been pretty common, and here are some tips and tricks to try in the meantime.

Doom The Dark Ages lag and crash fix

It appears that the current version of the game on PC has some optimization issues. If you're using an Nvidia graphics card, make sure to update your drivers. There's a false error message that pops up when you start the game for the first time. You can ignore it and proceed to play, but make sure that your drivers are updated to the latest version.

It's better to cap the max FPS to 60 for the time being. This will smooth the FPS; if you don't put a limit on, there's a chance for the client to push it to an unrealistic target, and cause stutters in the process. There are a few incidents on Doom The Dark Ages' Steam forum about some players encountering crashes when the FPS drops suddenly. Putting a cap on maximum FPS will hopefully prevent that issue.

For the time being, it's better to reduce the overall graphics settings (even if your hardware can handle it). This will reduce the load on your setup, and ensure that stutters and lag, however occasional, don't happen at all. Additionally, you can turn off V-Sync, as that will decrease the load on your setup.

These are the current settings I have been running on my system. It uses an RTX 3060 and Ryzen 5600G (not amazing, but gets the work done). These settings have prevented any incidents of crashes and FPS drops consistently. There have been a few random stutters, but it's ignorable (happens if there are too many enemies at the same location).
