The far reaches of space are a strong setting for strategy games. From Stellaris and Homeworld 3 through to Endless Legend 2 and Sins of a Solar Empire 2, there are plenty of genre entries that look to either realistic or fantastical versions of space as the framework for their design. This remains the case with Stellar Reach, a recently announced space strategy game in the vein of Civilization 7 that's long been in development at a new studio formed by Creative Assembly and Ubisoft veteran, James Miller.

FBC Firebreak marks quite the departure for Remedy Entertainment. The studio is renowned for its story-driven single player experiences, including the likes of Alan Wake, Control, and Max Payne. Firebreak, on the other hand, is a co-op FPS in the vein of Left 4 Dead and Helldivers 2. It's set in the Control universe, sure, but it's about as far from Jesse Faden's adventure you could get. Now that Firebreak is here, however, it hasn't been going down well on Steam.

When is the Crimson Desert release date? First announced in 2019, Crimson Desert is a story-driven adventure from the team behind the Black Desert MMORPG. Four years since its initial reveal, there's still a significant wait ahead for the Crimson Desert release date following an indefinite delay in July 2021. The devs cited the "need to dedicate more time to added new ideas for an even deeper, more enriching game."

We now know that the enrichment process includes petting dogs, carrying sheep on your shoulders, and fighting giant crabs in the magical action-adventure game. I mean, what more could you ask for? Based on the gameplay footage of Crimson Desert so far, it does seem as though nature and animals play a massive part in the world of Pywel. The region looks at first glance like an ancient medieval continent, but it soon becomes apparent that it's filled with magic and mystery. What are the best Minecraft tower designs? While houses may seem like the ideal way to showcase your Minecraft skills, and a Minecraft treehouse is a wonderful accomplishment, there's something to be said about putting together a tower that reaches into the heavens. Razer is offering a free Steam key for Dune Awakening with every purchase on select hardware, and it might be the best way to experience Arrakis out there. Razer has almost always delivered a quality line of peripherals, many of which have featured on our best gaming headset guides among others. However, one of the few drawbacks we've almost consistently found is that the asking price for Razer hardware tends to be at the higher end. Everyone has their favorite Final Fantasy game. For me it's FF7 Rebirth, with FF14 coming in at a very, very close second. The beauty of the series is that, despite oftentimes being wildly different in terms of style, there's no 'bad' games. Some naturally stand a little taller than the others, however, and Final Fantasy Tactics is one of them, and Square Enix is bringing it back with a brand new remaster, set to release on Steam. It's even going to launch with some new additions, arguably making it the definitive version of the game. There's just one problem, though: the War of the Lions extras won't be included.

What is the best gaming mousepad? Whether you call them mousepads, mouse pads, or mouse mats, they're a genuinely essential part of any PC gaming setup, unless you only game on controller of course. Good mousepads provide smooth but precise gliding, a consistent surface for your mouse to track accurately, and some can even charge your mouse and add to your RGB lighting display. We've tested and can now recommend a range of options to suit you whatever your needs.

The best gaming mousepad overall is the SteelSeries QcK thanks to its simple but quality construction, wide range of sizes and designs, and low price. For the luxury of never needing to charge your wireless mouse again, the Logitech PowerPlay 2 is the only choice. Meanwhile, if you're after a choice of mouse surfaces, the SteelSeries QcK Performance provides three different options to suit your play style. One of the best PC games of all time and the ongoing king of sandbox games, Minecraft has incredible replayability, keeping fans and newbies coming to the game time after time. While the vanilla game still gets regular updates, Minecraft mods, texture packs, resource packs, and shaders can completely reinvent the game, affecting its overall look. For example, mods can completely alter gameplay, and Minecraft texture packs and resource packs change the appearance of existing blocks and add new blocks, respectively. Meanwhile, shader packs give you the same game with fancier graphics and effects.

How do you see how much you have spent on LoL? Riot Games' hugely successful MOBA is technically a free game, but if you ask any avid fan if that's the case, you'll no doubt receive a wry laugh in response. The champion pool is diverse and wonderful; each character can be purchased with currency earned while playing. Premium cosmetics, however, are bought with real-world money.

These League of Legends skins and other cosmetics can be purchased directly using an in-game currency called RP. RP itself, though, must be purchased with your hard-earned cash. LoL skins change the base look of the character you're playing, with premium cosmetics adding new effects, voice lines, and animations. Then there's the battle pass that can be bought using RP, too. So, while League of Legends is technically one of the best free PC games around, you can see just how easily it can sway you into parting with your money. This guide will give you the information needed to find out exactly how much you've spent on League of Legends - you just might not like the answer when you get it.

From the outside, Alpha Response resembles several other FPS games. Since it comes from Minh Le, the legendary Counter-Strike creator, Valve, and Rust developer better known as 'Gooseman,' it naturally whispers CS 1.0. You play as the police, which is likely to draw comparisons to SWAT 4 and Ready or Not, and it's also fully PvE and each mission involves a heist or a shootout in the street, which might make you think of Payday. But Alpha Response, in reality, is nothing like any of these games. It's fast, it's fun, it's a sensory spectacle, and it's totally unique - it's better than any other shooter on Steam this year.

Dune: Awakening, meanwhile, has the fortune of coming with a pre-packaged world, already built by scores of sci-fi novels and movies full of beautiful scowlers. Developers Funcom therefore have existing rules to play with, a culture and geography which is basically ready-made for a video game. It's almost cheating. Sandstorms rage, forcing you indoors. Sandworms give chase, prompting you to run or bike faster across the desert. Military ships scan the dunes at night with spotlights, and launch tough enemy patrols if you get caught. Everything here already lends itself to the kind of adventurous fantasy any hardy video gameser would like.

Shallot Joins Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero as DLC

Bandai Namco announced that Shallot will be the next DLC character to appear for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. He's going to appear on June 26, 2025. However, the company noted it will be possible to get him ahead of that debut. There will be an early access launch on June 23, 2025. He'll be available as a single playable character outside of the next Dragon Ball Daima DLC pack and season pass. To help determine if someone would want to be part of that early adoption phase, a first trailer appeared showing his moveset.

Shallot is a character who first appeared in Dragon Ball Legends, and he's the star of that spin-off mobile game. He's been a part of that story since the May 2018 launch of that title. (That game is still running.) We haven't seen him show up in any mainline console games or other major installments aside from that.

In his trailer, we see Shallot face off against Nappa. After that, he faces Ginyu, then Frieza. This is a reference to the characters he's known to associate with in his original game and his past. A number of his Saiyan abilities and Ki attacks come up in the gameplay footage, and it sort of seems like his Wild Blitz attack might come up. We'll know more about what kinds of attacks he can use once he launches and his official moveset is revealed.

Here's the full Shallot trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_8qBd-K7SQ

In addition to free updates that added additional features, quite a bit of DLC appeared for the game. The first pack added eight characters from Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Then the second brought in Dragon Ball Daima folks.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, and Shallot will appear as a DLC character for everyone on June 26, 2025.

Honkai: Star Rail is adding another member of the Chrysos Heirs to the roster, as Helektra will join under the name Hysilens.

HoYoVerse confirmed that when the 3.5 update arrives for Honkai: Star Rail, Hysilens will debut as the new playable Chrysos Heirs character in the cast, though we also heard of her before this under the name Helektra. She's associated with Okhema and Styxia in-game. She'll be a five-star unit when she debuts.

The initial Hysilens reveal brought up the path and element Helektra will follow in Honkai: Star Rail. She's a Nihility character, which means she'll focus on negative status effects for enemies like fellow Chrysos Heir Cipher. She'll deal Physical damage when she attacks. This means she'll be the first five-star Physical Nihility character in the game. The only other character with that path and element is Luka, and he's a four-star.

So far, we've seen quite a few playable members of this Chrysos Heirs group in Honkai: Star Rail, which sort of mirrors the Honkai Impact 3rd Thirteen Flame-Chasers. Aglaea ended up being the first to appear. She was followed by Tribbie and Mydei. Anaxa and Castorice showed up after that. Then Hyacine and Cipher launched in 3.3, with Aglaea's rerun happening alongside Cipher's debut in the second half. When 3.4 debuts on July 2, 2025, we should see Phainon. While it is a little more obvious who some characters are designed to resemble, as Phainon is obviously Kevin and Aglaea is Aponia, it isn't clear who Hysilens could be the expy of at the moment. It is possible she could be tied to Eden, since both have an element of celebrity and performance associated with them.

Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and we'll see Hysilens debut in the game in patch 3.5.

Death Stranding 2 Video Covers Death Stranding Story Spoilers

Ahead of the debut of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Sony and Kojima Productions released an official video that covers spoilers from the original Death Stranding story to help people catch up. It summarizes everything that happened so someone can jump into the sequel with the essential information needed to understand what's going on.

Editor's Note: The "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach - The Story so Far" trailer features many spoilers for the first game.

The trailer begins with Norman Reedus, as Sam Porter Bridges, acting as a narrator and almost making it seem as though this is him telling a story to Lou. From there, the tone changes a bit and we hear from other characters describing what happens. First, it goes over the general state of the world as the first game begins. It discusses the existence of BTs, Timefall rain, DOOMs, BBs, and Sam's status as a repatriate. Sam himself is discussed by people like Fragile and set up as a courier who makes deliveries and ends up being tasked with reconnecting the US via the Chiral Network and rescuing the captured Amelie.

It's at that point the "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach - The Story so Far" trailer starts to get into spoilers about the story. So once you hit the three minute mark, expect things to get more "real."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-58vDF0sw2U

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will debut on the PS5 on June 26, 2025, though people with the Digital Deluxe or Collector's Edition get early access on June 24, 2025. There's also a special DualSense controller based on the game.

Doronko Wanko Nintendo Switch version to release in July 2025

Phoenixx and Bandai Namco Studio confirmed the release date for the Nintendo Switch version of Doronko Wanko, which involves a full version of the game with additional dogs to use. The exact date the dirty dog action game will be available on the popular console will be July 24, 2025.

As a reminder, Doronko Wanko was made as one of the training projects for Bandai Namco's new recruits in 2023. This game lets players control a dog, which aims to cause as much mess as possible in its owner's house.

The initial PC release has been available for free since March 2024, but it only features the Pomeranian. The upcoming Nintendo Switch release of Doronko Wanko will be a paid game that costs 500 yen (~$3.45), but it will add five more playable dogs: Shiba Inu, Corgi, Jack Russell Terrier, Toy Poodle, and Bulldog. These dogs will also be available for the PC version via a DLC pack at the same price tag.

As a side note, Bandai Namco Studio had previously announced in December 2024 that the Switch release and the DLC set for PC would be available in Spring 2025. The studio ended up missing the promised window, since July 24, 2025, falls in the Summer season instead. However, it compensated for the delay by adding five new dogs instead of just three.

Doronko Wanko will be available as a paid game for Nintendo Switch at 500 yen on July 24, 2025. The game is also readily available for free on PC via Steam.

Nijisanji Makes Twisty Amanozako YouTube and Social Media Private

It appears a Nijisanji Vtuber termination or graduation may be in progress, as Anycolor made the YouTube channel and social media account for Twisty Amanozako private and removed her page from the official store. The performer announced an indefinite hiatus back in December 2024, which is about when the company announced it started a sexual harassment investigation due to reports about potential liver misbehavior and fellow Vtuber Aster Arcadia disappeared and his scheduled "My First Cooking Stream + Special Announcement" stream kept getting delayed. [Thanks, KosChannel on Reddit!]

Prior to this movement, Twisty's appearances have been spotty. While she was on hiatus, she did occasionally appear online. She showed up for her birthday celebration in January 2025. It initially seemed like she might be absent for the one-year anniversary for the Denauth generation that included her, Klara Charmwood, and Ryoma Barrenwort. However, she did appear on merchandise for the event and there was a placeholder stream.

Another piece of possible support for a graduation or termination of Twisty Amanozako appears on the Nijisanji official site Anycolor maintains for its Vtubers. The performer no longer appears there. Her fellow generation members Klara Charmwood and Ryoma Barrenwort do both appear on that site, however.

As for Aster Arcadia, there is still no update from Anycolor about that Nijisanji Vtuber. His only scheduled stream on YouTube now has an air date of July 24, 2025. His social media account is still live and videos still appear on his YouTube channel. His page also still appears on the official site.

Anycolor typically makes its termination and graduation announcements via its official social media account for the Nijisanji English branch, so we should get an update on Twisty Amanozako there in the near future.

Review- Gundam SEED- Battle Destiny Remastered Is for Fans 1

Even if a game isn't the best entry in a series, I still think it is valuable when an older installment eventually gets localized and introduced. It's a peek into the past. We might even get to understand or appreciate certain design decisions. Gundam SEED: Battle Destiny Remastered is that type of game. It isn't the best Gundam adaptation. Only people who really love the anime series it is based on will completely understand it. Still, knowing this is a 13-year-old Vita game finally showing up worldwide is pretty neat.

It's sort of difficult to explain Gundam SEED: Battle Destiny Remastered's story, as it doesn't have one. The game begins with you creating a pilot and their partner, picking out their name, race, and initial capabilities. You will then fight alongside either the Earth Alliance Forces or ZAFT factions at pivotal moments. However, these won't really be well-described, as instead you'll basically be tossed into a fight with little explanation and the featured pilots spouting a few lines that might suggest their intentions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WD8ttyjRqbU&ab_channel=BandaiNamcoEntertainmentAmerica

There are certain ways in which Gundam SEED: Battle Destiny Remastered shows its age. We aren't fully integrated into the Cosmic Era so, while moments from SEED and SEED Destiny are here and we can experience certain fights, our custom avatar isn't fully integrated and there isn't a cohesive campaign. I highly recommend rewatching the anime series first. (Crunchyroll has both of them now, as well as SEED Freedom.) Missions aren't complex, gameplay is uncomplicated, and I honestly recommend pacing yourself when you play since so many of the situations involve "beat up every enemy."

Now, this isn't to say any of that is bad. Someone going in needs to keep in mind that this Artdink made it for the Vita about 13 years ago. This means the mission spaces are going to be small and sacrifices needed to be made to get it running on the system. As long as you go in understanding exactly what it is, it's easier to appreciate what it does right. It can be a fun beat'em up. We can be a Natural or Coordinator, and that influences our abilities. There are a lot of units and pilots to unlock. You can choose between two types of ranged weapons and melee attacks when you fight. While there isn't a true campaign, some story elements and exclusive unlocks do come up via the us being part of Earth Alliance Forces, ZAFT, or eventually switching to a new faction like Archangel.

However, it does mean some niceties are absent and, while this is a remaster, sometimes Gundam SEED: Battle Destiny Remastered doesn't look as good as you'd expect even with the touch-ups. I do think Bandai Namco generally did a fine job with the mobile suits themselves and their textures. Some of the maps and locations aren't as impressive, but I feel that is due, in part, to them not being great to begin with. There's only so much a developer can do with some basic locations, and I genuinely think the missions set in space sometimes feel a little more impressive as a result. Conversely, I think movement is handled better in recent releases like the Gundam Breaker series, especially with vertical leaps and boosts. Given the small spaces and how short missions are, it isn't an issue.

In fact, I think the Switch version of Gundam SEED: Battle Destiny Remastered might be the superior one because it can more closely mimic the original experience. Artdink and Bandai Namco intended this to be played in short bursts on a handheld device. I had the most fun with it when I did the same. Sit down for 30 minutes. Go through between two and four missions. Play around with pilot and suit combinations and do some tune ups on units I really like. That also helps with possible later missions that can occasionally get a bit challenging, though overall it felt pretty balanced to me. I was impressed that the computer controlling enemy units actually seemed to make ace opponents behave in intelligent fashions and even coordinate with each other.

I think of Gundam SEED: Battle Destiny Remastered as something of a welcome surprise that we likely ended up getting due to Gundam SEED Freedom and the success of other recent games and anime adaptations. It is not the absolute best entry out there. It is clearly made specifically for fans of the Cosmic Era characters, suits, and story. Still, it is fun and offers a different type of Gundam game experience.

Gundam SEED: Battle Destiny Remastered is available on the Switch and PC worldwide, and the original game debuted on the Vita in Japan.

Peter Pan sitting and floating in the air in Disney Dreamlight Valley

After nearly two years of waiting, it's finally time to explore Skull Rock with Disney Dreamlight Valley's Mysteries of Skull Rock update. Like all updates, it's packed with content to explore, so if you don't know where to start, reviewing the patch notes is a good way to get going.

The update isn't out yet, but if you want to be ready to go as soon as it drops, learning everything it includes ahead of time is the best way to do so. We already know all of the major features included in this one, so here are the patch notes for Disney Dreamlight Valley's Mysteries of Skull Rock update.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Mysteries of Skull Rock update patch notes

The Mysteries of Skull Rock update for DDV primarily focuses on continuing the main storyline and befriending Peter Pan. There are plenty of other features packed into this content expansion, though, so here's a breakdown of everything it includes.

Two new characters

Peter Pan and The Forgotten are officially unlockable villagers with this update. Both characters come with plenty of friendship quests and rewards to unlock. You can also rename The Forgotten to whatever you like.

Skull Rock

Skull Rock is officially opening as a new explorable area. It'll function similarly to the Mystical Cave, Ariel's boat, and the Vitalys Mine, so you can venture inside to travel to a vast new region. It's not a Peter Pan Realm, so there's perhaps still hope one may arrive in a future update with other characters from this film.

The inside of Skull Rock features a massive ship, multiple rocky levels, and seems to have puzzles you need to solve. It's a vast area hiding many secrets, so even though it's not a Realm, there's still plenty to uncover.

Adventures in Neverland Star Path

The Adventures in Neverland Star Path event starts in this update and will run until the next one arrives. As the name hints, all items featured in it are themed around Neverland and the many characters who reside there. So far, all of the items teased to be included in this Star Path are as follows.

  • Mermaid Minnie Mouse Dream Style
  • Pirate Goofy Dream Style
  • Pirate outfit (likely based on Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean)
  • Pirate Monkey critter companion
  • Mermaid furniture, including a conch that blows bubbles, a gazebo, a large shell, and an archway
  • Pirate furniture, including a ship wheel, a crafting station, and a cooking station

Companion improvements

Critter companions are about to be a lot more useful and unique as they receive several improvements in this update. The first major update is that they'll all have friendship rewards, similar to villagers, so you can grow closer to them to unlock new items and abilities. Some of the new abilities allow them to help you out as you tackle tasks around the valley.

  • Squirrels help you pick up Fruits.
  • Rabbits help you pick up Vegetables.
  • Turtles help you pick up Seafood.
  • Sunbirds help you pick up Flowers.
  • Foxes and Crocodiles help you pick up Fish.
  • Raccoons and Whimsical Creatures help you pick up Gems.
  • Ravens help you pick up Soil.
  • Capybaras, Snakes, and Monkeys help you pick up Timebending Parts.
  • Owls, Baby Dragons, and Pegasuses help you pick up Snippets.
  • Dogs help you pick up sticks.

Another change is that you can freely name your adorable friends whatever you like. All critters can be renamed except for those that are characters from Disney movies and shows like Pua, Figaro, and Hei Hei.

New camera options

This update is quietly adding some fresh camera options and improvements. The main one is the ability to sit down when taking pictures, which is a massive win, especially if you regularly participate in DreamSnaps challenges.

There's at least one additional change arriving in this update, but it's currently unclear what it is. During the developer livestream on June 4 that revealed the Mysteries of Skull Rock update, a new button was displayed in photo mode near the middle right edge of the screen.

Based on what we saw, I think it could be an idle animation player for all villagers in the picture, so you can more easily capture them in pictures, but we won't know for sure until the update arrives. There may be even more camera additions that haven't been revealed yet since these ones were only shown, not mentioned.

Max Premium Bundle

Prince Eric's loyal dog Max is arriving as a new critter companion you can have at your side with a fresh The Little Mermaid Premium Bundle. This bundle costs 4,500 Moonstones and comes with a collection of items themed around Max and Prince Eric's ship. All of the items featured in this collection are as follows.

  • Max companion
  • Max's houseboat furniture item
  • Nautical fireplace furniture item
  • Nautical four-poster bed furniture item
  • Nautical cabinet furniture item
  • Nautical rug furniture item
  • Nautical window furniture item
  • Nautical light furniture item

Max can dig up items around the valley while hanging out with you. He's also got some adorable camera poses and special interactions with Prince Eric and Ariel when he runs into them around the valley.

Troves of Treasure Event

A fresh event called Troves of Treasure will happen sometime after this update is released. It will task us with finding special treasure maps and solving riddles to earn exclusive event rewards.

Other features

There are many other smaller additions and changes included in this update. Here's a breakdown of some other key update details.

  • New items in Scrooge McDuck's shop
  • A rerun of the Summer Sizzle event
  • New weekly DreamSnaps themes
  • New Premium Shop items
  • New seasonal Moonstone pack

When is the Mysteries of Skull Rock update for Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The Mysteries of Skull Rock update launches on June 18 for all players. The exact launch time varies depending on your region, but it's sent out at the same time for everyone. Some platforms may take longer to deploy it, but Gameloft sends it out to everyone at once.

We've included all of the biggest features included in this update here, but you may want to review the official patch notes if you're curious about bug fixes or smaller details.

OW2 Season 17 D.Va Mythic skin Horang

A new season of Overwatch 2 brings new maps, modes, and fun, but of course, it's all about the skins.

A slew of new skins are coming in OW2's season 17, including several in the battle pass, more in the shop, and a sweet new Mythic for D.Va. Reaper's guns are also getting a makeover, so there's a lot to look forward to when it comes to changing up your favorite heroes' looks.

Here are all of the new skins that we know of coming to OW2 season 17 so far.

OW2 season 17 D.Va Reaper Mythics

Map voting finally arrives in Overwatch 2's season 17, landing in both Quick Play and Competitive at launch.

The newest season of the hero shooter does not add a new hero this time around, but there are several other noteworthy additions alongside the battle pass and other standard fare that players have come to expect from the live-service title since it launched a few years back, such as several changes and additions to Stadium (Sigma joins the roster) and Core modes.

The ability to choose which map to play has been long-requested, and it's finally here, giving the lobby a random selection of three maps to choose from. Every vote adds a one-in-10 chance to the map's odds, and the chosen map is selected with a "roulette-style roll." Votes are kept secret, too, so don't feel stressed.

For the first time ever, the new season will launch with multiple Mythics, with D.Va's Horang skin and Reaper's Steel Death weapon skin. Both new additions evolve with Mythic Prisms and allow for customization to suit your style.

D.Va's Horang comes with multiple colorways and designs, as can be seen above, while Reaper's shotguns come equipped with scythe-like blades and glowing effects, kill FX, and a reactive nature.

As far as gameplay goes, the map pool is changing in both Stadium and base OW2. Esperança and Samoa will join the ranks in Stadium to go along with a rank reset, while the Core experience is refreshed with Aatlis, a new Flashpoint map based in Morocco.

Season 17's battle pass is varied, with 8-Bit skin designs for Reinhardt, Genji, and Sombra, along with more new skins for Cassidy, Junkrat, Widowmaker, and Sigma, along with loot boxes, credits, and 80 Mythic Prisms to add to your ever-growing collections.

Image via Blizzard Entertainment

Blizzard also revealed two events coming to the game, including Powered Up, which begins at the start of the season, offering free unlockable rewards until June 30. Hacks & Hijinx, the second event, runs from July 15 to 28 and features a six-vs-six mode where modifiers rotate every round.

The final "event" will be towards the end of the season when the game's newest hero coming in season 18, Wuyang, gets a playtest trial. OW2's season 17, Powered Up, begins next week on June 24.

Rematch featured image

There are many ways to dribble past your opponents in REMATCH, and the Rainbow Flick is one of the most stylish options available to us.

Knowing how to dribble is key, as you won't always have passing options available during a game. If you're playing 3v3, the possibilities for a successful pass are further reduced, which makes it essential to carry the ball further into the attack. What makes the Rainbow Flick so fun is how easy it is and its overall effectiveness. Let's look at how you can perform this fun skill move at will.

How to do Rainbow Flick in REMATCH

I have found that the Rainbow Flick is easier to do on a controller. Here are the controls.

  • Hold the R1/RS button and press the X/A button while moving forward with the ball.
  • Your LS should be facing forward to perform the skill.

The harder thing to master with respect to the Rainbow Flick is timing. If you're performing it at the wrong moment, you'll set up a counter. I discuss this in the following section.

A player trying to receive the ball in REMATCH
Screenshot via Sloclap

How to master the Rainbow Flick in REMATCH

You'll want to time the skill move to get the most out of it. Before performing the skill, I always observe what the defender attempts to do. If they're standing back in a defensive stance (similar to Jockeying in FC 25), you won't want to try the Rainbow Flick.

Chances are that you'll either land the ball in front of the defender, or they will anticipate the ball in the air. Thus, you fail in your objective of beating your opponent. Instead, bait them into thinking that they can play the ball. Observe when they're triggering a tackle. If they go for a slide, it's even better, as you can just move the ball over them like they aren't there.

That's how you'll get the best out of the Rainbow Flick move and score loads of goals to win more games in REMATCH.

Marvel Rivals is going silly mode with its newest limited-time event dropping this weekend. Venom's Bubble Pop turns up the pink and gets real wacky with its offerings, and I'm here for it.

Completing missions and unlocking currency in both a free and premium reward track, the top free reward is the Future Foundation skin for Human Torch. But if you pay, you gain instant access to Venom in all of his pink glory, as can be seen in the twerking circle below.

Venom Pink Marvel Rivals
Screenshot by Destructoid

My favorite reward, though, and I can't believe it's free, is an emote for Jeff the Landshark where he puts on shoes and waddles around aimlessly. It's perfect. If you've ever seen a cat or a dog get slippers or socks to avoid licking them, it's basically the same idea. It's too cute to fathom.

There are a bunch of other Human Torch and Venom-themed items, like emotes, emojis, and more. To further entice gamers to buy the premium version, as if the pink Venom skin wasn't enough, the event and its rewards will become permanent and not expire.

Marvel Rivals' season two is in its final weeks, and Venom's Bubble Pop may be its swan song. Season three is set to begin on Friday, July 11, and will be the first season of one new hero releasing every month in the game.

I'm skeptical of whether NetEase can pull off any chance of balancing the game with a whole new character releasing every four weeks, but it will be fun for those who are just looking to enjoy some Marvel characters. In-game lore has already begun teasing July's new hero to potentially be Jean Grey/Phoenix.

A character with red wings flying in a blue Mystical Cave in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There are lots of secret locations hidden around your village in Disney Dreamlight Valley. You often have to venture to these spots for quests, so knowing where to find areas like the Mystical Cave is crucial.

This location is one you unlock fairly early on in the game, so there's a chance you may visit it but forget about it soon after. You're asked to venture back to this spot fairly frequently, so here's where to find the Mystical Cave in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Mystical Cave location in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Map of dreamlight valley with mystical cave location marked in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Mystical Cave is located near the southeast end of Dreamlight Valley in the Dazzle Beach biome. You can find the entrance in the wall right along the edge of the biome that connects to the Peaceful Meadow region.

The entrance is some grey stone tucked into the otherwise tan rocky wall, so it's tough to see until you're fairly close to it. There's also a grey pillar permanently fixed in the ground right by it, so you can look for this object to have an easier time tracking it down.

What's inside the Mystical Cave in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The Mystical Cave is a four-level cave that has many puzzles for you to solve in DDV. All of the puzzles are tied to quests, and after you venture to this location for the first time during the With Great Power... story quest, you'll often return there to find special items that don't spawn anywhere else.

Call of Duty WWII Zombie

Another month of Game Pass additions means another Call of Duty title has been added for players to dabble in while they wait for Black Ops 7 to launch later this year.

Call of Duty: WWII will launch on Game Pass for PC and console on June 30, bringing the underrated title to the service for players who either miss those days or missed out on the game entirely when it launched in 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One.

CoD WWII gameplay
Image via Activision

WWII stands out as a CoD game for its Headquarters feature, a home base where players could meet up, walk around, purchase contracts, and open controversial supply drops. There really hasn't been anything like it before or since in the franchise, and it's something that many players enjoyed at the time.

It features a campaign, Nazi Zombies mode, and multiplayer with new and remastered maps, such as Carentan, a classic from the original CoD and CoD 2. I remember not playing the game for long compared to some other CoD titles, but I do remember enjoying what I did play.

Game Pass will feature the base game, but none of its season pass DLC, which included multiplayer maps, Zombies maps, and more. CoD: WWII launched before the franchise moved to its current model of free seasonal content, so a good chunk of the final game will be missing.

WWII was made by Sledgehammer Games (CoD MWIII and CoD: Vanguard) and Raven Software (Warzone), and it serves as a trip down memory lane for elder gamers like myself, whereas some younger players may get to experience it for the first time.

https://twitter.com/XboxGamePass/status/1934975279190933972

When it comes to Game Pass on June 30, WWII will join Black Ops 6, MWII, and MWIII as the only other CoD titles on the service, but that list is expected to grow steadily over time after Microsoft's mega-deal purchase of Activision a few years back.

Unlocking the locked attic door with a silver key in Date Everything

Your two-story house hides lots of secrets in Date Everything!, one of which is a mysterious locked door on the second floor. This door grants you access to the attic area, but figuring out how to unlock it is a fairly tricky task.

Before you can access this area, you need to meet a specific character and venture into another secret space you likely haven't discovered yet. It's one of the tougher quests you have to solve, so here's how to unlock the attic door in Date Everything!.

The locked door on the second floor grants you access to the attic, and you need to find Keith the key and reunite him with Dorian at the attic door to unlock it. There's quite a bit you need to get done before you can access this area, so here's a breakdown of how to navigate through this quest.

  • Find and enter the secret crawlspace.
  • Locate Keith the key.
  • Use the Dateviators on the locked door.

Where to find the crawlspace in Date Everything!

The secret crawlspace is hidden under a rug in the office closet. To start, head into your office on the first floor, right near the front door. Next, walk back over to the door in the corner and open it to access the closet.

Once you're inside, look down to spot a light tan rug on the ground to the left of the water heater. The hidden crawlspace you need to venture into to find Keith the key is right under it, so you now need to work on opening it up.

How to open the secret crawlspace in Date Everything!

To open the crawlspace, make sure your Dateviators aren't equipped, then interact with the light tan rug. As soon as you interact with this item, it'll roll off to the left side and reveal a dark brown hatch right underneath.

Interact with the hatch to swing it open. Make sure your Dateviators still aren't on when you do so, since you can't open the hatch when they're activated. Once you've got the hatch open, click on the ladder to proceed down into the crawlspace.

Where to find Keith the key in Date Everything!

You can find Keith the key in the corner of the crawlspace near one of the poles that's down there. Keith is a very small silver key, and it's quite dark down in the crawlspace, so you have to scan the ground carefully to find him.

Once you find Keith, equip the Dateviators and point them at the key to awaken him. Finish chatting with Keith, then head back up the ladder over to the locked door on the second floor to progress to the next step for this quest.

After you've initially interacted with Keith and used him to open the locked attic door, he moves locations. His new spot is inside a small box on the end table right at the top of the stairs, just below the wall you can look at to awaken Wallace.

How to open the attic in Date Everything!

Once you've met Keith, head upstairs to the second floor and interact with the locked door using the Dateviators to awaken Dorian. Listen as he reunites with his old pal Keith, and wait for Keith to convince Dorian to help him open the attic. Once they're done talking, a short cutscene will play as Keith officially unlocks the attic for you.

All attic characters in Date Everything!

The locked room grants you access to the attic, which is another room with several Dateables. This area has many characters you can't find and interact with anywhere else, so gaining access to it is essential if you're hoping to fill out your entire Date-A-Dex.

All of the Dateables you can exclusively find around the attic are as follows.

  • Artt
  • Lady Memoria
  • Monique
  • Parker Bradley
  • Prissy
  • Sophia
  • Zoey Bennett

You can also find Holly, Beau, Dorian, Lux, Hector, and Wyndolyn up in the attic, but all of them have other interaction points around the house, so you don't have to venture specifically to this location for these objects. The crawlspace you found Keith in also has a couple of other items for you to meet, so you may want to venture back down there if you're looking for more Dateables.

Six ultrons hovering in the sky posed for battle in marvel rivals

The Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol event challenges you to strategically build a team for an auto battler face-off in Marvel Rivals. If you want to achieve victory, you need to use the best team comps.

There's a vast roster of heroes to choose from, and none of them play the same as they do outside of the event. It can be tricky to figure out what works and what doesn't, so here are the best team comps you can use for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol event in Marvel Rivals.

Best teams for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol in Marvel Rivals

The best teams for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol generally vary depending on who you're going up against, but having a strong selection of flexible heroes is always crucial for success. Here are some of the best teams you can use to achieve victory in Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol.

Hero #1 Hero #2 Hero #3 Hero #4 Hero #5 Hero #6
Peni Parker Groot Bruce Banner/Hulk Captain America Namor Rocket Raccoon
Venom Storm Invisible Woman Jeff the Land Shark Rocket Raccoon Adam Warlock
Groot Hela The Punisher Loki Rocket Raccoon Luna Snow
Bruce Banner/Hulk Namor Adam Warlock Invisible Woman Jeff the Land Shark Loki
Captain America The Thing Black Panther Psylocke Loki Jeff the Land Shark
Bruce Banner/Hulk Venom Namor Wolverine Luna Snow Loki
The Thing Captain America Venom Bruce Banner/Hulk Doctor Strange Thor
Venom Iron Fist Human Torch Wolverine Invisible Woman Rocket Raccoon
Groot The Thing Squirrel Girl Moon Knight Cloak & Dagger Jeff the Land Shark
Bruce Banner/Hulk Venom Wolverine Namor Invisible Woman Luna Snow
Venom Captain America Psylocke Spider-Man Black Panther Black Widow
Peni Parker Groot Iron Man Ultron Rocket Raccoon Loki
Captain America Venom Scarlet Witch Magik Psylocke Black Panther
Venom Peni Parker Black Widow Invisible Woman Loki Rocket Racoon

This mode is unique because you can win with teams that usually might not work well together, like a full roster of six Vanguards or six Duelists. All heroes have access to some abilities they don't have outside of this mode, so although some of these teams wouldn't work well outside of the event, they excel in this special, modified version of the game.

I've had success with all of the teams listed here, but the one I ended up going 25-3 with and winning the entire round was Groot, Peni Parker, Captain America, Bruce Banner/Hulk, Namor, and Rocket Raccoon. I positioned them in a sort of "T" formation with Rocket Raccoon and Namor protected by Vanguards around them. I moved my team around the board here and there, but kept the same formation throughout and dominated almost every match.

In other matches where I tried to use this same lineup but lost, I generally ended up swapping out Captain America for Venom and Groot for Loki. Venom and Loki are overall some of the best characters you can have on your team in this event, so adding them to your lineup is a great way to boost your odds of success.

Best characters for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol event in Marvel Rivals

You can mostly craft a strong team with any roster you like, but there are certainly some heroes who really shine in this mode. Here are the overall best characters you can use in Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol.

  • Namor - Namor's Monstro Spawn can shoot across the entire map in this mode, so he's one of the strongest Duelists you can use. He's especially effective if you also put Bruce Banner/Hulk on your team for the Gamma Charge Team-Up and keep Namor positioned in the backline. It's also a good idea to grab his Monstro Spawns Army Strengthen Module if it comes up to make him even more effective.
  • Groot - His walls are quite OP in this mode, especially if you keep him near the frontline and have your Duelists and Strategists positioned further back for protection.
  • Loki - In every single team I've made with him, Loki has been the last one standing in the matches I've lost. He's got super impressive survivability and healing output in this mode. His clones are also quite useful, and he seems to be very efficient at staying alive, dealing damage, and supporting the entire team. He always uses his healing circle right at the start of the round, so be sure to position him close to Vanguards for maximum efficiency. It's also crucial you make sure you have a second Strategist who has a strong healing ultimate he can copy, like Invisible Woman or Luna Snow.

  • Rocket Raccoon - With him on your team, you can revive, which is a huge bonus to have on your side. His healing also goes across the entire battlefield nicely.
  • Venom - He's a really strong tank in this mode, but to make the most of him, you need to get the King in Black Strengthen Module. With it, some damage he deals with his ultimate is converted to health, and he also grows larger. It's a really fun and effective power.
  • Invisible Woman - In this mode, her already potent ultimate is more powerful than ever. She's got excellent healing, nice survivability, and solid damage output.
  • Wolverine - No one can shred Vanguards like he can, so if you're facing a team that has some dominant ones, add a Wolverine to your line-up to easily get rid of them. He also always targets the enemy with the lowest health, which makes him highly effective at eliminating foes.

Team building tips for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol in Marvel Rivals

If you want to make and play with your own custom team, there are some general tips you should keep in mind to ensure you have a strong lineup. Here are some team-building tips for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol.

  • Pay attention to how each member of your team dies. If you know why you're losing, you can focus on acquiring Modules or otherwise implementing changes to correct it. For example, if your Vanguards are consistently dying early on, you may need to switch out or build your Strategists better, or try out some different Vanguards.
  • Change your team as needed. Between each match, you can spend Tokens to swap out any member of your team. If you're getting countered, switch your line-up around until you find one that works.

  • Choose your Strengthen Modules carefully based on what you need most. If you're not getting enough healing, choose a Strategist one. If you're not getting enough damage, buff up one of your Duelists. If you're struggling to push and protect, buff your Vanguards.
  • Play around with different comps. The fun part about this mode is that there's no wrong line-up, so feel free to experiment and try out different teams until you find one that fits what you're looking for.

Rotting corpse stuffed inside animatronic suit, holding present

The road to achieving the best ending in Secret of the Mimic is a tiresome one, full of obstacles with the random yet persistent chase of the Mimic that could ruin your day any minute. Hunting down Sun's presents takes patience and a good memory.

Trust me, I learnt the hard way. What's guaranteed, however, is that you'll never forget the layout of Murray's Costume Manor ever again. You'll start to feel like you actually work there.

Tucked away inside Moon.exe and needed for the secret ending, there are 25 Secret of the Mimic collectibles to find and place inside the Inventory Tube System. Play through the story and open shortcuts whenever you can to make finding the last few presents far easier. Trust me, it saves time in the long run. Our guide is divided into Data Diver Permissions and written chronologically, based on where I picked them up in my first and New Game+ playthroughs.

FNAF: Secret of the Mimic collectible location guide

Basic

Located directly in front of the Retail Showroom (opposite the Security Office).

Fall Fest Snow Globe

In the Welcome Show, behind the cowboy pig with a lasso and underneath Mr. Helpful. You can get this when you're heading to the Big Top Showroom.

White Tiger Doll

Present in Security Office New Game+

You must complete the game once and go to New Game+ (collectibles will pass over), where the White Tiger Doll then spawns inside the Security Office at the start of the game.

Security

Junior Doctor's Kit

Present in Loading Bay

Reach the Loading Bay after defeating Nurse Dollie. Arrange the four carnival set props to reach the far-left side of the Loading Bay for the collectible.

Star Orphan Night Light

Return to the Big Top Showroom and restore power via the Overflow machine. Go to the clown carnival game and start it. Break the left side of the clown's teeth and pass the game stand to pause the game. Press the red button behind the clown's face to enter a secret backstage area. This section is a tad annoying as the Mimic spawns in. Purposely get its attention and hide in the lockers, aiming to reach the generator, and then return to the lift at the entrance.

Use Repair Permissions to enter the off-limits Showroom. Pull the lever, go behind the moon and clouds set pieces. Open the Staff Door on the terminal upstairs. Go back down, avoid the Mimic, press the red button on the boarded-up wall, and go through two Repair doors. Enter the vent to reach the collectible.

Creator

Ranger Army Knife

Present in South Hall side room

In the small room directly after entering the South Hall (opposite the Theater entrance).

Fredbear Singing Record

Present opposite projector room in Theater
Screenshot by Destructoid

Enter the Theater to the left of the South Hall. Restore power in this hallway via the Overflow puzzle. Then go into the crawlspace (vent) on the right-hand side of this room (the Mimic will spawn on this side of the Theater). Use the Security Permission to enter the room in the projector section of the Theater for the present.

Lil' Sewing Kit

Present in shuttered area, accessible via South Hall door code
Screenshot by Destructoid

Enter code 26294 into the South Hall keypad and use Creator Permission in the Cafeteria to reach the shuttered area with the present, next to the elevator (that takes you back to Jackie in a Box).

Fredbear Pizza Maker

Present in upper floor of Big Top Showroom
Screenshot by Destructoid

Go back into the Big Top Showroom and head upstairs. Enter the Creator room to the right of the opened present (Trophy) to get the final collectible in this Showroom.

Pirate Foxy Puppet

Look for this after picking up the Star Orphan Night Light as it's in the same area. Go forward from the Office Repair door from the tent where you found the Night Light, and ignore the Mimic patrolling the left-hand side of the secret Showroom (where you originally entered from). Open the Creator door to find the Inventory Tube System to dispose of the Star, and pick up the Pirate Foxy Puppet to conclude this secret area.

Swing Bee Honey Bottle

Present in room behind Jackie in a Box hole
Screenshot by Destructoid

Use 4782 at the Birthday Showroom door and go into the small area through the hole Jackie in a Box left behind. The Mimic spawns here, so lure it with the cut-out over to your right and hide in the locker nearest to the hallway so you can run away. Then use code 0434 on the locked door in this to reach the present.

Admin

David Blocks

Go into the green bus when you're in the Warehouse looking for the Overflow pieces. This will take you to the upper level of the Warehouse. Climb to the top and start the carnival game. Complete one side and throw the ball to break half of the teeth on the second clown face. Then, go past the game stand to stop the game and crouch-walk into the vent behind the clown to find the present on the metal walkway.

Pet Fish Net

Present on upper walkway of Welcome Show
Screenshot by Destructoid

When you're on the way to the Admin Wing after seeing the White Tiger hallucination, go in the opposite direction of where the game wants you to go. Find and enter Welcome Show to find a hanging corpse and the collectible on the upper level.

Birthday Cake

Present in Admin Wing Conference Room
Screenshot by Destructoid

In the Admin Wing, go left to where the Mimic spawns. Use the lockers to hide from Chica. Input code 01350 to get into the Conference Room for the collectible and an achievement.

Toy Hammer

Screenshot by Destructoid

Get to the Theater projector room via the South Hall (with the Overflow puzzle). Go down the stairs from the Fredbear Singing Record spawn (needs Security Permission) and enter the Workshop. Go immediately into the Backstage area after entering the Workshop using Admin clearance. This takes you to the Pirate Foxy stage. Crouch under the beam to find the present.

Fall Fest Ticket Book

Present on Backstage magnet bridge puzzle
Screenshot by Destructoid

I managed to get this by breaking the game with the levers in the Backstage area, after assembling the springlock suit in the Theater. However, the proper way to get this is to go to the unscripted side of the Theater via South Hall. Enter the vents to reach the projector room, and climb the stairs to return to the bridge magnet puzzle. Move all platforms with the magnet to get to the present, then pull the lever to reach the ground and take the other lift back up to reach the collectible.

Rainy Day Boot

This is the hardest collectible to get. Save yourself a lot of time and be sure to unlock the shortcut as soon as you exit the Loading Bay and are on the way to the Admin Wing. Instead of going there, turn left from the Loading Bay in this Backstage area and unlock the Showrooms. This gives you an easy way to get back here later on. You must visit the Big Top Showroom first to take one of the carnival toy guns. With the shortcut unlocked and toy in hand, head to the Admin Wing like normal, taking the lift down into an open area, and go through the shutters next to the Inventory Tube System.

You can unlock a Warehouse shortcut here (press the big red button) to get back to the Security Office. Find the target shooting carnival game and beat it. You will be rewarded with the Rainy Day Boot.

Executive

David's Toy Ball

Present in large mechanical head of the secret Retail Showroom Basement
Screenshot by Destructoid

Enter the Retail Showroom next to the Security Office. Use code 80625 on the wall near the carousel to open the elevator. The Mimic spawns in this Showroom, so be careful. Descend into a secret part of the Basement where a unique animatronic roams. Collect the Overflow pieces and restore power, then look inside the bizarre giant head at the center of the room for David's Toy Ball.

Vacuum Pet

Present in Murray house side room, accessible via vent
Screenshot by Destructoid

In the locked room on the upper floor of Edwin Murray's home (must start Parachute.exe programme). Go into the vent opposite the locked door with a red keypad on it. You will enter the room with the collectible by walking through this vent.

Tracking two players in a forest in Minecraft

There's nothing worse than setting out on an adventure with friends in Minecraft only to lose them along the way. Trying to meet up again can be tricky using only coordinates, but the player locator bar makes this process a lot easier.

The player locator bar wasn't always a feature in Minecraft and was only officially added with the Chase the Skies update on June 17, 2025. Since it wasn't always around, there's a decent chance you're not familiar with how it works. Here's everything you need to know about how to use the player locator bar in Minecraft.

How does the player locator bar work in Minecraft?

Looking at two players while tracking them with player locator bar in Minecraft
Screenshot by Destructoid

The player locator bar takes over the XP bar whenever there are other players in the same world as you and you're not earning XP. Other players appear as colored dots that move around the bar depending on which direction you need to head to find them.

If a player happens to be much higher or lower than you, an arrow will appear above or below the icon to help you find their exact location. This system is sort of similar to a compass, as the dots act as arrows pointing you in the right direction.

The icon marking other players on this bar changes depending on how far or close they are to you. There are four different symbols you may see appear on the player locator bar.

  • Square – The player is between zero and 179 blocks away.
  • Circle – The player is between 179 and 230 blocks away.
  • Small square – The player is between 230 and 281 blocks away.
  • Small circle – The player is 281 or more blocks away.

How to find players with the player locator bar in Minecraft

You can find other players using the player locator bar by simply following the colored dot associated with the player you're seeking. The easiest way to do this is to turn around in a circle until you get the colored dot you want to follow right in the middle of your bar. Once it's there, you can simply head straight until you find them. Your goal is essentially to keep heading towards the marker that's highlighting whichever player you're trying to find.

A player wearing a carved pumpkin mask hiding from the player locator bar in minecraft

How to turn on the player locator bar in Minecraft

The player locator bar is on by default, so you don't need to do anything to turn it on. If, for some reason, it doesn't seem to be active, you can type the /gamerule locatorbar true command into the chat box to activate it. You need to be the owner of the server to use this command.

How to hide from the player locator bar in Minecraft

If you don't want to be tracked by the player locator bar, there are three ways you can hide your location from it. The three different methods you can use are:

  • Sneak – Crouch to sneak and remain off the player locator bar radar.
  • Be invisible – Drink a potion of invisibility to vanish from the player locator bar.
  • Wear a mask – Wear a mob head or a carved pumpkin to get around fast without being detected by the player locator bar. The drawback with this method is that you can't also wear a helmet.

How to turn off the player locator bar in Minecraft

Locator bar toggle marked in Minecraft
Screenshot by Destructoid

There are two different ways you can turn off the player locator bar. To use either of these methods, you must be the owner of the server you're trying to modify, so if you're not, you'll need to have the owner do so instead. The two methods you can use are as follows.

  • By typing the /gamerule locatorbar false command into the chat box.
  • On the Bedrock Edition, you can freely toggle this feature off by navigating to the Multiplayer page in the settings and finding the locator bar option. You can toggle it on and off from this page whenever you desire, although it's easiest to access when you're starting a new world.

Now that you know how to find your friends with ease, you can set out together to explore and try many other features in Minecraft. Next, you might ride Happy Ghasts, defeat the Creaking, and build some epic houses.

Rematch promotional image

Newly released REMATCH doesn't have very high graphic requirements for a modern game, but you can still encounter occasional stutters and crashes on your PC.

It's largely caused by optimization issues that can be due to problems at your end or the end of your in-game client (or maybe a mix of both). Thankfully, I have tested and tried out different visual combinations to ensure minimal incidents of stutters or low FPS.

How to prevent crashes and stutters in REMATCH

For starters, you'll want to ensure you're not experiencing any lag (due to the internet). Games in REMATCH rely heavily on your internet connection. If something is up with your internet, you'll experience lag, so make sure not to put anything on download in the background. That said, here are a few extra tips to reduce unexpected lags.

  • Update your drivers: I haven't found any exclusive driver update released after the game's launch by either AMD or Nvidia. Ensure your driver is updated to the latest version available for your applicable graphics card.
  • Cap the FPS: It's better to set an upper limit on the maximum FPS, even if your hardware can handle any number.

I have added my recommended graphic settings, which I have been running on my setup (Ryzen 5600G and RTX 3060). In the five hours I have played (at the time of writing), things have looked pretty smooth, barring a couple of opening games.

In-game graphic settings for REMATCH
Screenshot by Destructoid

Best video settings for REMATCH

The exact settings might vary slightly. If you have a weaker system than mine, set the overall quality to Medium from High.

  • Window Mode: Borderless Window
  • V Sync: Disabled
  • Max FPS: 60
  • Gamma: 2.2
  • Anti-Aliasing Method: TSR
  • DLSS Frame Generation: Off
  • Motion Blur: 0
  • Graphics Quality: High
  • Texture Quality: High
  • Shadow Quality: Medium
  • Effects Quality: Medium
  • View Distance Quality: High
  • Grass Quality: High
  • Crowd Quality: High
  • Post Process Quality: High
  • Anti-Aliasing Quality: Medium

There are not too many settings to tweak. If you're still experiencing lag, you can turn off the Anti-Aliasing Method. Also, ensure that your device meets the minimum requirements of REMATCH before purchasing your copy.

Rematch promo art of a player shooting the ball

Visual settings are one of the first things to prioritize in REMATCH since you'll want to ensure that gameplay is smooth so you can perform in every game.

REMATCH is a heavily PVP-oriented game, which also means that you'll want to prevent lag, stutters, and frame drops as much as possible. This will allow you to enjoy better visuals and smoother gameplay, which will help you make all the split-second decisions.

In my first few hours with early access, I tweaked and tested many things with the in-game settings to get the setup in the following section.

Best video settings for REMATCH

Before deep-diving into my settings, here's my hardware setup: Ryzen 5600G, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, and Nvidia RTX 3060 12 GB. These are the settings I currently roll with, so let's go over the settings.

Winning moment in REMATCH
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Window Mode: Borderless Window
  • V Sync: Disabled
  • Max FPS: 60
  • Gamma: 2.2
  • Anti-Aliasing Method: TSR
  • DLSS Frame Generation: Off
  • Motion Blur: 0
  • Graphics Quality: High
  • Texture Quality: High
  • Shadow Quality: Medium
  • Effects Quality: Medium
  • View Distance Quality: High
  • Grass Quality: High
  • Crowd Quality: High
  • Post Process Quality: High
  • Anti-Aliasing Quality: Medium

So what changes can you make? You can set everything to Medium, starting from Graphics Quality (I have some on High and some on Medium). Reducing all to Medium doesn't make much of a difference visually, but it will result in smoother gameplay.

You can also disable anti-aliasing entirely to lighten the load on your hardware. The visuals will be slightly hazy, but anything for better gameplay. Keeping the FPS locked to 60 is enough, while V-Sync isn't required either. You can tweak these settings later, but I would wait for a day-one patch.

That's pretty much all you have to do to run REMATCH smoothly on your device. Additionally, make sure to check out the minimum requirements to ensure that your system is good enough to run the game without any unnecessary lag or stutter.

Nintendo Indie World Showcase April 2024 recap

Hey Destructoid, I find myself in a pickle and am drawing a blank, so I am writing this article in hopes that the vast majority of you can help me pick out some new indie games to play, either recent releases or games coming out in the next few months.

I have a host of flights and events to attend in April and wanted to load my Switch 2 and Steam Deck with a bunch of games to play the pass the travel and when looking at recent releases, I am pretty stumped on what to pick up. So I'm hopeful some readers can give me a list of game recommendations for me to check out, while also sharing game suggestions with the community in the process.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDzgiGdekas&ab_channel=UNDERTALEandDELTARUNEOfficial

I should preface that I am open to anything when it comes to indie games and have already been playing a ton of recent releases in my spare time. Deltarune has been a big one, and I've been replaying all four released chapters to get the secret endings and have a weird route with the Snowgrave storyline.

I also recently picked up PEAK, which is a fun multiplayer-focused game about climbing and surviving with friends. It's hard to explain, but do give it a look over if you have the time. It has a bit of R.E.P.O. tomfoolery, but with survival elements and working together to scale mountains and weird biomes.

I was considering picking up FNAF: Secret of the Mimic as well, but I'm a big baby when it comes to horror games, let alone indie horror, and don't think it's fair for fellow passengers to hear me scream at the top of my lungs several hundred feet in the air.

Realistically, I want to hear your suggestions and would like a mix of quick indie darlings and games that'll keep me engaged. Bonus points for any roguelikes or titles that can become a timesink, so I can pass time playing them all over multiple travels and events.

So with that in mind, please comment below any recommendations you have, and remember to keep it indie. While obvious games are coming out in the next few months, like Tony Hawk, Donkey Kong Bananaza, and Grounded 2, to name a few, I want to spend some time playing games I can enjoy in my spare time, not ones I'll likely need to work on.
